"I don't think there is a single thing in the world you could do to disappoint me, Benjamin Tallmadge."
He snorted. "Well, I certainly hope you'll remember this moment when you are, in fact, disappointed in me in the future. I'm quite the over-achiever, after all."
Penelope spoke of a son following in his footsteps, and despite the leap in his chest at such a thought, it was soon soured as Benjamin drifted to thinking of war, of destruction and pain and death, and his shoulders curled inward. "I should hope not," he murmured. "If it's all the same to you, I'd rather not share my stories with our children... I fought so they could be free, so they could be happy, and I don't wish for them to know any of the pain I've endured. Not even a moment."
Penelope, thankfully, seemed quite content to continue teasing him, so Benjamin latched on to the much lighter fare of conversation. With a snort, he asked, "How can I not compliment you? That seems like a double-edged sword, and I'm not about to risk displeasing my betrothed. Unless, of course, it leads to more untoward requests."
Penelope giggled, leaning into his touch with a gentle incline of her neck. "If leaving you now is so difficult, I can't imagine how hard it will be once we are properly wed."
"We'll never leave the house," Benjamin agreed, chuckling. "And if anyone trespasses during our honeymoon, I'll be certain to greet them with a musket. I think I've earned the right to be possessive of my wife. If they wish to hold an audience with you, they can wait in line." Grazing his lips along her shoulder, he muttered, "Unfortunately for them, I am the only one granted permission to enter that coveted queue."
Penelope hummed. "Do you really think anyone would even notice if I just stayed here forever? Surely, Mama is far too enraptured in planning the wedding to notice and its not as though anyone would miss me otherwise."
Benjamin fought back a groan. "Don't go giving me any ideas... I'm serious, Pen, I'm at the point where I'd rather just kidnap you for a week, and then claim a loss of sanity." He shrugged. "We're already engaged, but that at least would ensure that you have to marry me."
Penelope followed his glance toward the clock. "I suppose I cannot delay for much longer, so this is where we must part. The weeks ahead are sure to be long and arduous."
Benjamin grimaced. "You don't know the half of it...I'm afraid men are the far weaker of the two sexes, so I'll be in the direst of straits."
Turning to face him, Penelope smoothed her palms along his chest with a pout. "Promise you won't forget about me in the time we're apart?"
"Impossible," he vowed. "I'll be thinking of you each and every waking moment, slowly being driven to madness." Dropping a kiss onto her forehead, he lowly added, "I hope it isn't too much to hope for the same?"
--
Within a week's time, Benjamin found himself in Penelope's presence again. Her mother was distracted with God only knew what -- it seemed that marriages of the ton were quite the affair -- and despite his good cheer, he kept pacing around the room.
"I'm so bloody nervous," he confessed. "If my assumptions are correct, Father will be arriving sometime today, and I just... I'm unsure of what to expect." He halted in his restless trek, turned, and then glanced toward Penelope with a low breath. "I never told you this, but I essentially ran away from home... Not because of anything I did, but rather, because I couldn't face the pain of losing my brother. So I did the cowardly thing, and I left my father all alone."
Shoulders hunkering, Benjamin looked down at his boots in shame. "I've written to Father, of course -- I'm not that cold-blooded -- but I imagine he must still be hurt. And I want him to love you so very much, but...what if I've already ruined everything before it's even had a chance to begin?"
If I'd known from the start how we would've ended up, I'm not so certain I would have ever been a gentleman.
"I find that hard to believe. Even in the throes of passion, you're a perfect gentleman." Pen quirked her lips into a sweet smile, a renewed flush creeping onto her cheeks. She knew she was lucky to have found someone like Ben, and that such a someone loved her as intensely as she loved them. Pen had nearly accepted the fact that her life would most likely be devoid of love. She might learn to love a husband, if she had been fortunate enough to find a man willing to marry her, but she had never expected to find a love match. And yet she had been proved wrong time and time again.
"Yes, actually." She teased, arching her brows in defiance. "I would like you to reenact the story of the handsome, charming foreign soldier who seduces the insipid wallflower with his smile and devilishly sharp wit. Are you familiar with that one?" Perching her hands on her hips, she tried to maintain a neutral expression but she found it hard when her body was still thrumming with electricity. "I don't think there is a single thing in the world you could do to disappoint me, Benjamin Tallmadge."
You know I love it when you give commands. Pen bit at the inside of her cheek to suppress a grin. She'd been told on multiple ocassions that she had a tendency to be too bossy. She liked to be in charge of things, especially when so much of her life seemed to be entirely out of her control. Whistledown had afforded her the luxury of controlling the narrative of scandals in the ton, but there were often times her pride spilled over.
"Is that so? I do enjoy giving commands every once in a while. I think it runs in the family. Perhaps, one day, a son of ours will follow in their father's footsteps. Though, I wouldn't mind if they decided to become little poets and authors instead."
Although she knew she would support her children in whatever endeavors they found themselves thrown into, Pen wasn't entirely eager to imagine her sons off to war. Even so, she refused to dwell on such a thing. Those were matters for the future, problems to be dealt with when they arose. For now, Pen was satisfied with living in the moment and planning for the near future instead.
"You must not give me so many compliments this soon. I'll hardly have any motivation to do better if you spoil me too much. Lucky for you, I'm a dutiful student."
Pen let out a soft giggle, reaching up to rest her hands on his arms. The idea of going a single day without him was tortuous, even though she knew it would be worth the wait. If they were to behave properly, it could be weeks until she felt his arms around her again. She was sure she would go insane in that much time, but at least she would be able to relish in the memory of him until then. The idea of a special marriage license was terribly tempting, but Pen knew that it would be near impossible to get. A lady of the ton marrying a foreigner was not likely to earn a favorable compliance by Her Majesty. Instead, she resigned herself to her fate. If nothing else, it would prove to be a good practice of patience.
"If leaving you now is so difficult, I can't imagine how hard it will be once we are properly wed." She sighed, nuzzling into his touch. Although Pen was determined to not be an overly needy or nagging wife, she had a feeling she would be following him around like a puppy for most of the honeymoon--and long after, as well. She had spent her entire life searching for a place to belong and now that she'd finally found it in Ben's arms, she wasn't in a rush to part with the feeling.
"Do you really think anyone would even notice if I just stayed here forever? Surely, Mama is far too enraptured in planning the wedding to notice and its not as though anyone would miss me otherwise." Even as she teased, Pen knew there was some truth behind her words. Her mother was enjoying the party planning aspect of the wedding and Pen didn't mind handing over the reigns since such a thing was far too overwhelming to handle. All she wanted was to hide away from the world and be with her fiancé.
"I suppose I cannot delay for much longer, so this is where we must part. The weeks ahead are sure to be long and arduous." Turning around to face him, Pen whined, lips puffed out into a pout. "Promise you won't forget about me in the time we're apart?"

Mingyu- Seventeen.....Dark Side Tarot Reading
As a Person
When I first tapped into his energy, I saw a scene of him having a complete tantrum. Screaming; yelling; pulling at his hair; just completely raging out. I also heard him say "fuck him! Fuck them! Fuck all of this shit!"
This makes me think that at a certain level of him being pissed off (which i do think takes alot for him to go this far), he can turn into a person that stops giving af about any and everybody. I don't exactly think he seeks revenge, but I do think he ends up wanting to take his anger out on someone or something. And he doesn't exactly care who/what it is. It's like getting so mad that you see red. This type of uncontrollable rage in Mingyu can be very destructive and just simply not healthy
He can be the kind of person to want success and money by taking shortcuts or not hustling as hard as others to get it. It's giving vibes of a person that would attach himself to nepo babies, socialites, and other well well off folk to get ahead. But I also see that in his blind attraction to just being in the presence of wealth, he could befriend scammers, criminals and people that lowkey get their money in more nefarious ways, while on the surface things look more legit. (This is an odd example but I'm getting reminded of how, in the past, corrupt South korean presidents would take bribes and gifts from big conglomerates like Samsung in exchange for tax cuts etc....). I can see Mingyu being this way if he falls too deep into chasing after the bag and keeping up with the Jones. His lesson in life will likely be "everything that glitters ain't gold."
To add onto this. He could possibly even get his friends to participate in these more sketchy business dealings( like promoting shady companies to fans) . Even resorting to peer pressure or guilt tripping if they were more hesitant to get involved.
Mingyu may weaponize his ignorance alot. I can see that in his love life, he could purposefully remain ignorant about things so that he doesn't have to put too much effort into a lover/partner. For an example, he could be dating someone and not know things like their birthday, important anniversaries etc.... so when these events arrive and he "forgets", he could just claim ignorance and be forgiven. "You know I love you hun, I didn't mean to forget, I just had a lot going on".đ„ș
Very manipulative person, knows how to touch at a person's heartstrings and weasel his way out of trouble.
Dark Things In love:
He enjoys the chase. Like a true aries man, he loves the chase. He loves the idea of wanting a person who doesn't want him. The dark side to this is.....Mingyu likes the fact that even when he becomes fixed on a person, their not the only one. He's like, " Yeah, I'm showering you with all of these gifts, love and attention, but I could be doing this to a million other women."
Mingyu likes arrogance in his partners as well (think Regina George) to the point of being kind of a bitch and low-key a bully. He likes that catty and bratty attitude, wants a partner that demands things of him (like commitment or loyalty), and doesn't concede easily. The only dark thing I'm seeing from this is that wanting this type of partner could lead to his connections turning into full out battlegrounds. Both parties are very stubborn, hotheaded, and in the mindset of "I'm right, you're wrong". He's gonna get what he asks for tryna wife up a Regina George.
Big Spender by Smiler and Lana del Rey is a song that fits this reading's energy

All Sonic could see in that moment was red, and that anger was bubbling up like geyser ready to blow. He didn't have much in this world that he cared for, and he knew Amy was a tough girl. But seeing her like that just flipped a switch for him. Maybe it was that curse that linked him to her, or maybe was just his own protective nature as a guardian of his world. He didn't know but he'd never felt such a desire to put someone in the ground. Even despite the fact that he was hyper aware Surge was trying to prevent him from making a huge mistake. It didn't really register completely.
He grit his teeth and leaned in close to Surge and was seconds from speaking, telling her where she could shove her worries. If she knew Abe like he did, if she had any idea of all the awful things he was party to. She'd have wanted to put him in the ground to. GUN drove Gerald mad, tossed shadow in a damn stasis pod, killed maria in cold blood and so much more! there was alot they would never atone for in Sonic's eyes---all of this was just another drop in the bucket.
" Talkin' ain't ever gonna be GUN's language! I am so sick of tryin' to talk with those people! they only language they get is force, so i'm just gonna speak there language!?! "
He had no qualms busting Surge's face wide open to get to them either! Luckily Tails voice was perhaps the one he needed to hear most, mostly because of how close they were. But despite that it didn't make him less angry, it just made him bury it again and hide away like he always did. When he thought about it, he was kind of a coward wasnt he? always hiding, always tucking his tail and running from all that pent up aggression.
Surge could see his hostility ebb away, it was likely the first time she'd seen him so worked up. Yes he did care for Amy, like he cared for Tails, and anyone who threatened them was on his shit list!
" ... Mark my words, they ain't here to talk Surge... those bastards are a bunch of child killin' life ruinin' sacks of absolute shit. I'll play nice... but the moment i find out Abe was behind Amy's attack... the gloves are off... i ain't puttin' that to the side. You'd do the same if it was Kit... "
He looked away from her to the airship that was just within sight of them now.
" They ain't here to help... you an i both know it... this is gonna be us vs them... i'll wait... and i keep my promises. So you can relax... "
He was still very obviously pissed off, and only holding back for the time being. One wrong move by GUN was likely to set his ass off. But he knew if GUN had his way they'd lock them both up for sure. His eyes went to Surge though and narrowed as he realized something important and, as he needed some way to direct his anger he snapped at her instead.
" and YOU need to tell him the damn truth! because i sure as fuck ain't gonna explain it to him. Do you think for a moment he'd listen to me or tails anyway? You need to tell him, and soon..."
===============================================
Tails wasn't sure if it was Belle in control or an auto pilot in truth it was hard to tell. But he was pretty impressed by the over all craftsmanship of the bot. It was impressive and showed how far she'd come! He was always impressed by her work, and it was proof in his mind that Eggman's bots could do good given the right program and incentive.
" And who do you think designed the artificial Chaos? Doctor Gerald Robotnik... Eggman's grandfather. Lots of Eggman's technology was inspired by Gerald, even if Gerald's intentions were pure... alot of his tech was turned into weapons for GUN or worse... locked up for being to dangerous. But i guess you know more about it then i do... just hard not to see the similarities "
Tails had been working the entire time he was talking. He connected the satellite to the Belle Bot which gave her access to the eye in the sky. This also allowed her to interface with the restoration com network fully, and reconnect the broken bits from the EMP with the satellites network.
" I got it, i do hope Belle doesn't mind me using the belle Bot as a relay... but, that should reconnect Restoration communications. Also you should be able to use the belle bot's signal to connect to the satellite using it as a proxy. That should limit any risk to your own equipment... "
Not that there was any risk to begin with, but he hoped it quelled Kit's paranoia.
" I... know i probably shouldn't even say anything. But... I'm Sorry you know, for everything that's happened... Deep down i guess i just want to find some middle ground for you and I... I just want us to be able to talk ... work this all out somehow. "
He sighed and gave Kit a side glance with one of his ears falling over
" When this is over... do you think... we can talk? Not asking for anything else... just a chance for us to talk, "
Surge scowls at Sonic, her lightning changing dark red as her strength seemed to double, maybe even more as she held him in place. The tenrec then punched the wall right next to the hedgehog's head, easily cracking it deeply which traveled high up the wall. "Yeah, because you look like in such a talkative mood right now. Don't try to play me for a fucking fool. I know everything about you, remember?" A face the speedster still hated, though it was the truth.
"Don't think I've been sitting on my ass all this time with The Restoration. I've been training and have a bunch of new skills so if you think you can just fight me off easily then you're dead wrong." Surge figured a long time ago Sonic never took their first fights too seriously, attempting to talk her down. Things were different this time around with abilities she's unlocked.
Surge ear twitches hearing Tails on the intercom attempting to talk Sonic down as well. "You also promised me something, and I expect you to keep it. Can't do that if you get thrown in a GUN cell with me." The tenrec was sure she wouldn't be getting your average cell, though not the time to think about that.
Surge finally let Sonic go, hoping he had calmed down enough to not sprint off again. "You want to thrash whoever is behind this after, then fine. Though I'm not failing him again, and I'm not letting you fail him. Is that clear?" The only person she trusted with that was Sonic by this point, and wasn't going to have him fuck that up. "And if you do fail him then I'm going to break every fucking bone in your body."
===========================================================
"Belle isn't controlling Belle Bot right now. It's most likely just running off basic functions as it's still in the early stages. That said, it is combat ready so if need be it'll go into on the offensive and I don't think GUN will have a fun time." Kitsunami was sure it could tear through several GUN squads without slowing down if need be.
"No, Starline was completely obsessive with only using Eggtech for my hydro-pack even when there were moments where getting GUN tech would've made it easier than rebuilding parts from Eggtech scraps." Even to the bitter end Starline was obsessed with Eggman. "Though I've since upgraded to be all custom parts working out and Eggtech. I also stayed away from GUN tech." Not worth the risk of them realizing he had stolen some of their tech.
"Try to hook up the coms to something portable so we can hurry on to my room. As much as I'd prefer to do this on my own I have no clue about GUN firewalls. Don't get the wrong idea, this is just to help Surge as best as I can." Kitsunami still seemed more worried about helping Surge than anything else, despite Starline being gone for so long.

FWB to Lovers w/ Logan
Description: How Y/N and Logan went from Fuck buddies to Lovers
Warning: Dirty talk
Ever since Y/N, Wade and Logan saved the timeline it has been a known thing that Logan and Y/N had tension and Wade always made it known: âUGH just fuck already Disney can just cut it out of the film.â âWhat?âÂ
Y/N tried to hide her feelings at first knowing that Logan probably wanted someone his age and not a younger woman with little to no experience. Boy was she wrong: âWadeâs right. We should fuck.âÂ
Though he said that drunk, Y/N couldnât stop thinking about it. She was sure he wouldnât remember saying that but the never next day when she just stared at him a little too long she was up against the wall in a second: âWe need to hurry before Wade gets back.âÂ
He was huge compared to her and the size kink was real. For his age he had a nice body and a dick that hit all her special spots: âFuck. I didnât even know that spot could be reached.â
He took her on everything in that house. The couch, the wall, the beds (even Wadeâs), shower, counter and even on a chair. Wade found out and his reaction wasnât even surprising: âYou guys canât just fuck on my bed and not let me watch.âÂ
Y/N was falling hard for the man and Wade could tell. Her stares were no longer just filled with lust but love. She looked at him like he was the whole world and more: âOMG is the Y/N falling in love?â âShut up!â
Logan was too and that showed when he found out that Y/N and Wade had slept together before. Though Y/N and Logan werenât together and only supposed to be FWB, He got extremely jealous: âYOU GUYS HAVE SLEPT TOGETHER?â âDuh. Have you seen us? Two hot people fucking is the norm.âÂ
Y/N and Wade both found it odd that he got mad about that given it was 2 years ago and before any of this. Logan stormed off to his room ignoring them calling his name. Wade looked at Y/N with a knowing look: âSeems like your pussy is a love potion and he had too much of it.âÂ
Though it wasnât the best idea, Wade went to talk to him about it. Y/N almost wanted to do it herself but Wade offered and said that he wouldnât crack jokes about the situation: âListen peanut, I understand that you have a bad boy reputation to stick too but that hard on youâre showing says you enjoyed the thought of it.â âWADE GET OUT!âÂ
Y/N couldnât sleep that night. Her mind was on Logan and how he just stormed out of the room after hearing that they fucked. Did he love her back? She needed to know. She walked to his door and knocked, not caring if he was asleep or not: âDo you love me?â âY/N, Itâs 3 am.âÂ
He did in fact love her and he shouldâve shown it better. Wade always wanted to get under his skin and thatâs probably why he mentioned that: âI said that to get you two together. Itâs annoying to see you guys act like Blind AL trying to find something.âÂ
Ok Wade maybe a little too far?
Both of them were idiots for not just admitting how they felt but now it was worth it in the end and Wade was to thank: âIâm not thanking you with Tacos!â âWell arenât you just ungrateful?â

MARRIED ON PURPOSE
- gojo satoru x reader
"for one, i can show you incredible things!" jujutsu, madness, heaven, sin. the strongest sorcerer is sure to show you all of that during the whole duration of your six-month marriage contract.
genre/warnings: marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers, crack, fluff, slight satosugu angst/comfort, kamo!reader, very suggestive. gojo clan is portrayed as very traditional, meanwhile kamo clan is rather unpleasant here
note: the unholy amount of times i've edited this story *sigh* but okay i must drop it here or else i'm going to keep editing it and losing my mind. despite my misgivings and all, i really had fun writing this and i hope you enjoy it! wc. 5k !
a part of 1K MILESTONE EVENT
general masterlist
Some would say... marrying Gojo Satoru would be living the dream.
âDon't look that sour now, wife.â
ââŠsigh.â
A playful nudge at your side, a lighthearted voiceâ âYou're going to make them question our veeery happy marriage, you know⊠We don't want that now, do we?â
But to you, it was more like nightmare dressed in a daydream.
It was peak comedy because why would you put marrying Gojo Satoru in your life plans? He was incorrigible, a child trapped in a man's body, and there was also the very fact that you hate him. His only redeeming trait was being born in the esteemed Gojo clan, and now held the title of the strongest.
You know you must have accumulated karma, but out of everything else, why must you end up in this predicament?
Hailing from the great clans of jujutsu society, both of you know well that marriage is the essence to make the clan greater. And when it involves the big three clans, its importance amplifies even further.
It was just that you two were too rebellious to follow it through, for one reason or another. Everyone knows Gojo Satoru was faithless to any woman, and you were not exactly thrilled with the idea of marriage as a whole.
He was the one who came to you, proposing this insane idea of a temporary marriage.
"Look at it this way," Satoru said with a wry grin, contrasting your puzzled frown on that fateful afternoon. "It's either me or Zen'in Naoya for you, isn't it? It's so clear which is the better man."
That was what grated you the most. You would be damned if you married the misogynist.
"What do you get from this arrangement, really?" you questioned begrudgingly.
His name would give you security, stop the harassment from your clan, and maybe even a better life, but you didn't quite get what he'd get from the offer he willingly extended to you.
Satoru flippantly shrugged. "Nah, you are not exactly my type, but you're still far better than the boring puppet my family have considered to be my wife."
"Who?"
"Don't remember her name. All she goes on about is that she'll be the good wife and mother of my child. Ew."
Seven hells. You scowled. Gojo Satoru and his penchant for chasing the thrill. Boring women would kill him before an actual curse would.
"And hey, for one," he shot you a smirk, visibly smug. "I can show you incredible things!"
"That's not the point! Gojo, do you even realizeâ" your voice rose, pulsating with righteous fury, "âhow serious all of this is? My life, your life! We're going to be stuckâtogether!"
"Six months," he blurted, tilting his head slightly. His sunglasses slipped down just enough for you to catch a glimpse of his sparkling eyes. "It's enough time to work through our shits, and by then if you have enough, we're through."
At that time, it seemed feasible. Both of you tolerating each other to avoid a much worse match.
. . .
BACK TO PRESENTâbarely a week ever since you were paraded around as his wife, now you and Satoru were stiffly poised in the studio in your formal garbs, capturing your official wedding photos.
At that time, it seemed feasible, but now, it felt like a chore, as you realized that conversing with him either spiked your blood pressure so much that you wouldn't even be surprised if you ended up with hypertension or completely sapped your energy that you were left exhausted.
"Come on, show a smiiile," Satoru said in a sing-song voice, gesturing toward the camera as it flashed for the pictures. You were beyond appalled, shooting a glare in his direction.
"I am smiling, Gojo."
"Liar. You're pouting, wifey~"
Sigh⊠this really is going to be one hella of a ride, huh?
MONTH ONE, and you found out that Gojo Satoru is apparently as mad as people made him out to be.
"You've got to be kidding me!" you fumed, right after he hauled you into one of the rooms in his grand, traditional estate. Your glare pierced through him, a blood vessel ready to burst. "We never agreed on âconsummatingâ the marriage!"
You wrote him a goddamn contract. And the three conditions of this chaotic marriage are: one, it would only last six months; two, no personal feelings involved; and three, nothing borderline disturbing.
And this, you concluded, was the height of what could be called as disturbing.
"We will not," Satoru replied with a hint of disdain, grimacing, as if the notion didn't sit well with him either. The audacity! "We're just going to make it as if we areâ"
"And why?! Why should I do that?!"
"Why else? Because my old fart believes that we indeed haven't done so."
"Then it's your fault? For failing to convince him? Why turn it into my problem!"
"Because, dear wife," he drawled, his tone taunting on the final note. "Now we're on the same page, in case you have forgotten."
Great clans and their hollow expectations spare no one, not even Gojo Satoru. They place importance in the most banal things, such as the continuity of sacred bloodlines and such.
The only alternative wasn't appealing either. Should you be found out that you married only to divorce... sigh, you didn't even want to know how big of a scandal it would be. One thing was certain: your clan would chop you to shreds.
You really had no choice, huh?
"Five minutes," you warned, glaring at him. "Make it loud. Make it so that no one wouldn't question this anymore."
Oh and sure he would. As Satoru pulled that shit-eating grin, you were in for another ride. You waited out until several maids were nearby, left the wooden door ajar, and began the showâ
His hands wrapped around your waistâthe feeling was peculiar, but you ignored itâand you let him pull you near that open door. He snuggled his face on your neckâhis hair tickling you in the process, but you ignored that peculiarity againâas he started making suggestive noises. "Mm, you're so pretty, darling."
You could hear those maids gasp in surprise. And to add the flavor, you faked a moan.
This is... kinda fun? A twisted part of you suddenly found satisfaction in fooling the maids. A smile tugged at your lips as you shoved him away, and Satoru eyed you in surprise and irritation.
"Husband, you're... insatiable," you worded languidly, and he immediately caught on your act, grinning. "Anyone can walk by, you know."
"Oh? But that's the point." Satoru's bright blue eyes twinkled with utter mischief, and even you couldn't deny the exhilarating rush. "I want them to know."
And suddenly you got this very brilliant idea. You swiftly moved past him and sent the books and trinkets on his desk flying to the floor, causing questionable noises.
"Oh my!" a girlish voice exclaimed.
"The master! And the lady!"
Satoru shook his head, thoroughly entertained. And you rolled your eyes. Those nosy maids would finally have enough now, and this charade would endâ
"What's happening here?"
The old fart. Both you and Satoru grunted in unison. You really thought you would leave it up to the maids to spread the word, but then you were taken by surprise when he wrapped his hands around you and flung the door open, slamming you against itâand damn it hurt!âoffering everyone a front-row seat to your charade.
The maids squealed. His grandfather raised a righteous, demanding eyebrow. You wanted to scream.
"Hey, gramps," he greeted jovially, breathless, his grip on you tightening and you felt heat radiating from his palm. "Ah, sorry, opened it by accidentâthe wife here is feisty, you see."
Your veins felt ready to burst. Was this a part of his plan all along? How would you show your face before your grandfather-in-law now that he had seen this... atrocity?!
"So, yeah, we'll resume our business!" Satoru, the idiot, said it as if it was the most normal thing in the world. "See ya!"
With that the door slammed shut, but oh no, it was not the end.
"Mmmph!?" you protested, unintentionally loud and eyes widening in alarm when Satoru muffled your mouth with his hand.
The rotten bastard! You found it nearly impossible to breathe, shooting daggers at him. "Mmmrgh! Mmmrrgh!"
"Oh... so that boy really does it huh," you heard the elder mutter in thoughtful manner from outsideâand you were in disbelief at how trusting he wasâbefore rounding the stunned maids and barked, "What are all you doing here? Go!"
You nearly sagged with relief when Satoru loosened his grip slightly, allowing you to breathe, as his meddlesome grandpa finally stalked away. Done. This horrible act was over! But wait, why did he still had his hand on your mouth?
"That went splendidly!" he snickered, appearing rather pleased with what had unfolded. "Now, if only we work together like this more oftenâ"
This is⊠my life now, you lamented the reality. The feeling of his calloused hand on you made you feel things, honestly speaking, but another emotionâand impulseâcurrently overpowered that.
Seething with resentment, you fiercely chomped down on his hand hard, causing him to swear and pull his hand out of you.
"Youâyou devil! You bit me!"
"Serves you right!"
Okay, he was bad. He was insufferable. But to be frank, sometimes it wasn't all chaos.
And what's more, by MONTH TWO, you realized that being married to Gojo Satoru also comes with several perks.
"Miss, please, you're trespassingâ"
You looked at the police with the haughtiest look you could muster, unamused. "Don't you know who I am?"
"No, but it shouldn'tâ"
"I'm that man's wife," you declared regally, motioning towards a certain tall shuttlecock a few meters away. "Is that not clear enough for you?"
For one, no one can look down on you anymore, because should they try, you have the power to raise your chin high and declare yourself as the wife of the infamous sorcerer. The very moment you did, that nosy police stopped yapping, and let you through.
The cursed boy, Yuta and his classmate had just been trapped inside a barrier a curse user pulled down, and you were assigned to look into this case by the headquarters. As much as it boggled youâbecause certainly, the strongest sorcerer was enough to investigate thisâyou still had to do your job.
âWhat is this?â you asked Satoru, who was observing something far beyond what your measly ordinary eyes could see. âWhat happened here?â
He turned to you, all with bandaged eyes. âHmm? Oh, youâre here too?â
âDon't act surprised. Answer my question, Gojo.â
"Youâre too uptight, wifey," Satoru's lips curved upwards playfully. He had taken to addressing you with pet names as of late, if anything, only to get a rise out of you. "Isn't it the time for you to start calling me by my given name?"
You let out a weary exhale, exasperated. "I'm serious, did you find anything? Who is behind this?"
"Nah, nothing for you to worry about," Satoru waved his hand dismissively, grinning. "More importantly! Let's head back and have dinner! My treat!"
You weren't that oblivious. You noticed things too.
"What do you want tonight? Sukiyaki? Sushi?" he hummed nonchalantly. "Or shabu-shabu?"
You gave him the stink eye. "Is that all you think about? Food?"
"As a responsible husband, it's my duty to feed my wife, no?"
"News flash: temporary wife."
"But still my wife, regardless. I overheard you earlier. Being Mrs. Gojo is convenient, yeah?"
You ignored how a part of your jolted at the emphasis he placed on that word, grunting. "Nah, it's meh."
Call it a feeling or hypothesis. It was similar to how he treated his students. He always said the dumbest things, but it actually served to make them feel at ease.
Then it occurred to you, could this be actually his attempt to change the subject?
"You can't cheat your way out of this." You shot him a pointed look. "You know something. Tell me."
"Hmmm? And what would I get in return?"
"Don't make this difficult. I'm on this assignment too!"
"Nah, if you call me by my name, I might consider it."
Hah. You should really read a parenting book one of these days. Taking on your husband was more or less the same as facing a kid.
"Satoru," you tested, the name rolling out of your lips far easier than you thought. Somehow, using his given name felt like some sort of a leap of faith.
He stopped right in his tracks, turning to you. His glossy lips quirked into a meaningful smile, and you felt funny.
"Wasn't that difficult, was it?" he winked, and you covered the strange heat creeping onto your face by rolling your eyes and huffed.
Needless to say, he still didn't tell you even a clue. You finally gave up, thinking that if he insisted on not disclosing it, then so be it. You trusted him on this, even as he turned your help away, and you hated admitting it, because, wellâŠ
Youâd trust him with your life. He knows how to handle this better than anyone.
Being a a woman in Kamo clan is, in fact, not any better than in Zen'inâyou're regarded more as a commodity than a human being.
"When will you bear the child of the bearer of Six Eyes?" in your father's eyes, you were but a tool to tie the Gojo at his hip, and your worth probably wasn't even twice of Noritoshi's. You had known he would ask this when he summoned you to Kamo ancestral home, and you weren't that naiveâyou had asked Satoru to join you too. But your father had insisted him to stay at the foyer, while he dragged you into his chamber.
Just because you had seen it coming didnât mean you liked it. "Is that all? Do you really make me come here just to ask me that?"
And what came next was like a crack of thunder.
"How insolent!"
You shuddered, hating how his voice still had control over you. You wanted to stay deviant, but you couldn't keep yourself from shaking. You thought you would have to endure this shit just like you did before, untilâ
"Now, now... That's my wife you're talking to. I'd watch your words, if I were you."
You had never whipped your head so fast.
There stood Gojo Satoru, your husband, in all his glory. He was smiling but it was clear that he was displeased, evident from his cutting remark, and most notably, how he had unveiled his striking cerulean eyes for all to see. Truth to be told, you didn't expect him to barge in here at all.
"Gojo-sama," your father bowed his head, displaying utter respect towards him, contrasting the blatant disrespect he showed towards you just now. Satoru paid him no heed, as took big strides towards you and seized your arm, prompting you to rise to your feet.
"What is this? Why are you yelling at her?" His voice lacked its usual hint of amusement or teasing, sending a chill down your spine.
"Gojo-sama, I apologize for my tone towards my daughter earlier. I was just trying to educateâ"
âMy wife. She is my wife now, and it would do you better to remember that,â Satoru asserted firmly, putting emphasis in the way he addressed you, his gaze hardening. "She is an adult. There's nothing left for you to educate her." Pausing, he added, "And the way I saw it, you were just unnecessarily rude."
"Gojo-sama, there were just certain things in our clan thatâ"
"Please, don't call on us again," Satoru interjected decisively with a light yet firm voice. You could swear your heart was somersaulting at the sight of him staring down your natural enemy. "I'm sure you're aware, but your daughter bears my name now, and she will get the respect she is due. I will have a word with anyone who fails to treat her accordingly."
Somehow or another, Satoru whisked you away from that hellhole, your hand tightly clasped in his. Your relieved sigh didn't go unnoticed by him, as he looked back to you.
"Have you gone soft?" he teased, eyeing you with a playful snort. "Did you forget who your husband is? You've got nothing to fear. Not even him."
"Thank you," you murmured. Your heart was still pounding and your mind blanked, rendering you unable to engage in your usual banters.
His clear blue eyes widened a touch, blinking at your display of vulnerability, Then, he wore the most innocent expression, even sporting a silly smirkâthe hardness from earlier gone. "I was really cool, huh? Totally made you swoon I bet."
And in MONTH THREE, you realized, as he laced his fingers with yours, as his laughter filled the air, as calmness swelled on your chest, and as you loudly snorted at his remark, thatâ
You felt warm, so warm, in fact, and maybeâ
"Pfft, you wish."
âmaybe... being with him isn't so bad after all.
MONTH FOUR, and you finally found out that it was Geto Suguru.
Everyone knew that your husband and the criminal used to be the best of friends. You saw them during your high school days, and heck, you used to think that Geto was the better man.
You could only imagine what he must feel.
. . .
When he got back to your shared house after the whole ordealâafter he ended his best friend with his own hands, Satoru honestly didn't expect that you would be waiting for him.
"You okay?" you asked him, brows furrowed in concern. It was probably one of the very few times you had displayed emotions other than contempt towards him.
It felt strange because he was used to your jabs, and he was not sure what sort of expression he should pull now, because truthfully, now he felt empty. Blank. All he comprehended was that he had killed Suguru, that he was gone, and that was something he must do.
It would be just like any other day if hadn't just committed a murder. On someone he held dear.
"Of course, who do you think I am?" Satoru swiftly replied, sounding smugâor at least tried to. "I'm the strongest. Iâm unscatâ"
"No, not that." You frowned, meeting his gaze squarely. "After everything."
Satoru struggled to choose how he should react, partly because most of his energy had gone after walking Yuta back and reassuring him earlier, and by default, the two of you should be hellbent on hating each other and wishing for this contract to end soon.
"Aww, are you worried about me?" he quipped with a touch of sarcasm just because he had to, to show you that it wasn't enough to ruffle him.
Because he is still the strongest, even when alone. Especially when he is alone.
You let out a sigh, looking away. "Can't I?"
"Whoa, that's sweet ofâ"
"Don't fool yourself," you stated in straight-laced manner, meeting his gaze with a composed expression. "You're not okay. You might be Gojo Satoru, but no one will be after doing what you just did."
You might be Gojo Satoru, but no one will be after doing what you just did.
Despite himself, his smile fell, and his chest burns. What is this? Were you sympathizing with him?
Does that mean that you don't see him as the entity... that was the strongest?
Before now, Satoru remembered you as the most uncooperative Kyoto girl he had ever met. Your first meeting in high school sealed your fate as the two of you could hardly get along. You didn't mince words, you didn't take shit from anyone elseâheck, sometimes when he thought of you, what came up to mind was an impenetrable diamond.
Which was why he chose you. You were someone he could trust. You were pretty in the eyes and certainly wouldn't bore him either. His reasons were purely based on logic. And after four months with you, Satoru came to a conclusion that you indeed fulfilled all his expectations, if not more.
And he felt comfortable, or dare he say, secure even. He felt like he had gained a friend, who could see past his bravado and wouldn't judge him for it.
"You're..." you sighed, casting a sympathetic glance at him, your forehead slightly creased. At that moment, Satoru couldn't help but think you were incredibly endearing, fretting over him. "...an idiot."
"Heh." I really am, aren't I?
"I never knew him well..." you chose your words carefully, hesitant. "Did you try to convince him, before this?"
He barked a bitter laugh. "I did, we even made a scene in front of freaking KFC," he remarked with a scoff. "He didn't listen to me, until the very end."
You wanted to tell him âYou have done everything you couldâ but the words faltered on your tongue. You couldn't bring yourself to say it when you saw the faint quiver of his lips, the slump of his shouldersâthe very sight of a boy grieving the loss of his friend.
Your heart pricked too, somehow, seeing that expression on him. And you once again realized that your silly, exalted husband was just as human as anyone else who made him think he wasnât.
"And you know what he said in the end?" Satoru's tone was flippant, as if asking the most normal thing around, but carried a trace of grief, evident in the slight drop in his tone if you squinted. "He said he didn't regret it, not even a bit."
"I'm sorry," was all you could manage.
Satoru's smile was lopsided. Now that he had finally accepted it, something inside him finally bleeds, and it freaking hurts. The pain gripped his chest like a swirling inferno.
But then, you boldly clasped his hand in yours, gently tracing soothing circles on its back.
"What?" he peered at you, feeling a ghost of a smile forming.
"Consider this emotional support."
And he chuckled softly. Despite the lingering ache, despite the gloom he was sure he would carry for the rest of his life, he felt the pain was more bearable with you by his side, somewhat.
How?
You blamed it on the alcohol, because it was MONTH FIVE and you were kissing Gojo Satoru, daringly.
"We shouldn't be doing this," you rasped between kisses, breathless, as your own sinful hands plucked the buttons off his shirt. The intoxication might have played a part, but the intense heat coursing through you made it hard to think straight.
Satoru crashed his lips against yours again, consumed by blind lust. "Yeah, we shouldn't," he replied in a rush. His breath was hot as he trailed his lips down your jaw and neck next, savoring the softness of your skin.
You two had attended a banquet for the elite, and you were unbelievably beautiful. Standing by his side as his wife, you drew admiring glances, with everyone marveling at what a remarkable couple you made. The Gojo heir who was born with the legendary Limitless and the Kamo heiress, as lovely as her clan's name was powerful.
His deft hands roamed the curves of your body, exploring every inch of you. The warmth of his hands tickled something inside you as you closed your eyes to sink into this very moment. Next you knew, his bare body was against yours and you were stripped out of your evening dress.
Lust flickered in his honored eyes, as he took in the sight of you in your undergarments.
"You're really pretty, you know," he whispered. The intensity with which his eyes scanned your form made you nearly squirm. "Shame we don't always get along."
"You're one to talk," you retorted, a hint of exasperation in your tone, as you willed all other thoughts away. Thoughts like what comes after this. Thoughts likeâ
Is it heaven or sin, if you feel both at once?
His thumb tenderly caressed your plush lips, a hint of a smirk on his beautiful face.
He has long been thinking about your body. He was but a man, after all. He just didn't expect that you wanted this too.
There was always this tension, only this time, neither of you could hold it back anymore. Perhaps it was impulseâhell, most certainly it is, but there was another thing, something more that even Gojo Satoru still didn't dare to say out loud.
"Eager, are we?" he taunted when you leaned in, yearning for the touch of his lips on yours again.
You huffed. âShut up and kiss me.â
A rush of heat flooded your cheeks at the slip of those words. You were about to rectify it, taken aback by your own boldness, but then he drew you close, silencing any further protest with a gentle hushâ
"Too late, sweetheart," his husky voice entered your ears, lips curling into the most wicked smile, and you were in a trance. And Satoru was once again convinced, that choosing you as his wife was the rightest thing there was.
If the two of you went with this, then there would be consequences. Things would become more complicated, harder to sort out.
But, he decided, as he captured your lips in another heated kiss, everything else can wait.
MONTH SIX, and you were dreading the day of your divorce.
You brought this upon yourself. Whenever you reminisced about that night, you wanted to smack yourself in the face and bang your head against the nearest wall.
This marriage has a time limit. And you were doing it out of convenience in the first place.
You weren't supposed to⊠goddammitâfall in love with him.
But what's done is done, there is no going back in time. Awkward exchanges and lingering stares had been gnawing at your insides these days, and you were sure Satoru too must have noticed them too. You two used to be more relaxed with each other, and he'd even flirt with you, but weeks ever since that night of drunken passion, you almost reverted back to your high school personasâignoring each other.
This was tough. You didn't like this. And more than that, you were faced with a more pressuring matter...
Gojo Satoru, with everything he possessed, could have had any woman he wanted. This arrangement with you was temporary in the first place, soon he would forget you and flit to the next woman.
The thought made your heart ache, because you had involuntarily gave your heart away to him. Siiigh⊠What a predicament you put yourself into, huh?
With just a month left together, maybe you should just make the best of it.
. . .
If you thought that things were any better with Satoru, then you were sorely wrong because he too, was debating with himself often nowadays.
Days spent with you were fun and fulfilling. You irked expression somehow had made its mark in his heart. You were pretty, fit to be by his side publicly and preferably, behind the closed doors. With you, he didn't feel the need to carry this facade of being strongâhe could be a clown tripping over his own trap and you would amuse him with your deadpan expression.
And ever since that night, he was constantly reminded by how soft your skin was against his. It almost drove him crazy now that he was deprived of it.
How was it the last month already? He wasn't ready to let you go yet.
When he got back home later after his class ended and found you in the dinner table setting the food, all he could muster was, "Hey. Haven't eaten?"
You whirled around to face him in surprise. "Oh... you're back. Just about to. Want to join me?"
Of course he would. And yet as the two of you sat down, it was so painfully awkward Satoru felt like he was dying inside.
Why couldn't he pull off a smart line or two? Where did his suaveness go? He was smoother than this, surely, with his colorful history. One night of passion was supposed to enhance the relationship, not to derail it. What happened to you both?
The salt was near his side when you reached to grab it and bumped into his hand. "Uh-oh."
Turning towards you, he found your spooked expression and your adorable eyes widening in surprise. "S-sorry..."
It was just freaking salt! Salt! Why on earth were you apologizing?!
Enough, he thought. This utter madness of being jumpy with each other. He'd start from his side.
Does he want you to keep being his wife even after all this ends? Yes.
Why? All reasons already listed above.
Does this mean he likes you? Apparently and supposedly, yes. Because if it isn't then he doesn't know what this funny feeling driving him mad is.
With that sorted out, then he only had one more thing to confirm. He put down his spoon and crossed his arms together. "Tell me the truth. Do you like living with me?"
His question obviously took you by surprise. "Huh? What brought this on?"
"Just give me an answer."
"You're so pushy," you grumbled, lips pursed, and he felt like you were finally back to your usual dynamics somewhat. Good.
"Sooo, the verdict? Do you enjoy being with me or not?"
Because to him, it was a resounding yes and more.
Ignoring the warmth that surged to your cheeks, you rolled your eyes. "Surprisingly, not bad, yeah," you admitted, mustering the courage to meet his gaze. "You're annoying, an idiot, a bit crazyâ"
"Hey!"
"âbut eventually you're still... manageable," you added, feeling your face truly start to sizzle. But covered it up by looking down and playing with your fingers as you still had more to go on. "What I want to say is... I'm glad that I agreed to thisâwith youâbecause I canât imagine it with anyone else."
An unfamiliar tingling emotion rushed to his chest as his face too started to heat up, letting your words sink in. Is he blushing? Oh God. He sure is. And so did he feel hella giddy.
Then itâs sealed.
Suddenly he procured a piece of paper from his work uniform and showed it to you. You first saw his lazily scrawled signature before it dawned on you.
The contract. You almost forgot that you made him sign that looming piece of paper. You were almost dismayed, thinking that he would end this right then and there, but thenâ
âWell, then⊠I suppose we no longer need this.â
Riiip~
Your eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when Gojo Satoru tore out your contract right in front of your face, the most brilliant of his devilish grin adorned his handsome face, as he took off his blindfold to see you far clearly than ever. Heavens, you are cute, he thought.
âSoooo~ seems like youâre stuck with me from now on!â
You gaped, awestruck at the blatant meaning of it all, feeling how your heartbeat started to pick up the pace, when he pulled the rag out of your feet once more by tilting his head to the side, looking at you with a winning smile.
âLetâs start over! What did they say again? Ah, yeah. Hereâs to the first day of our lives!â

the hard way | tyler owens x fem!reader
Pairing: Tyler Owens x Fem!Reader Summary: You and Tyler Owens have a bad habit of butting heads, but all it takes is one hint of jealousy and things change in the blink of an eye. Warnings: Tyler is lowkey an asshole, but reader can be too, there is a creepy guy that tries to come onto reader and puts his hands on her. Word Count: 4.2k A/N: I rewatched the original Twister movie today and got this idea while watching it and then it all just came out of my head onto the page and here we have it! I had so much fun writing this, it's honestly one of my favourite Tyler fics I've done so far. I hope you all enjoy it. Thanks for all the love on my Twisters fics so far!
âOh, here we go again,â Boone says, crossing his arms over his chest as he watches you walking towards Tyler, your laptop in your hands. Judging by the look on your face, you have something fairly important to show Tyler ïżœïżœ and Boone knows Tyler wonât be happy about it.
Dani sighs beside him, her legs kicked up on their cooler from their spot at the motel. Itâs late at night and none of the storms had turned into anything today, leading to a very long day for all of you. Youâd driven hundreds of miles only to end up with no new footage.
âHow long do you think itâll take him to get mad?â Dani asks.
âHeâs just spotted her and he already looks annoyed, so Iâd guess straight away.â
They watch on from a distance as you finally reach Tyler. You move to stand beside him so he can see the screen of your laptop. âI was right after all,â you glance up at him. âSee this? That storm was never going to amount to anything and even the radar showed it dying out. We could have saved ourselves half a tank of gas and a few hours if youâd listened to me.â
Tyler rolls his eyes and looks away from your laptop, trying to focus on not burning the dinner heâs been cooking the team on the barbecue that the motel has. âOkay, I get it. But I canât go back in time and listen to you, so will you just drop it? Iâve had to listen to this all day. Youâre drivinâ me insane, sunshineâ.â
âWell, if you had listened to me, I wouldnât have kept bugging you about it, T.â
Itâs never been smooth sailing between you and Tyler. You get along most of the time, sure â you have to when youâre working together. But you also tend to butt heads more often than not. With both of you having studied meteorology, youâre the only two members of the team with formal training, which means you often have differing opinions on your interpretations of the weather and the forecasts.Â
You disagree with Tyler, he disagrees with you and the rest of the Wranglers watch on, both amused and irritated at the fact that the two of you just canât seem to work together sometimes. There are, of course, times when you can deal with it. But today⊠well, Boone had been glad to get out of the car at the end of the day and distance himself from the two of you.
He swears heâs not riding with you both tomorrow.
âIf I listen to you now, will you stop bugging me still?â Tyler looks at you.
With a scowl, you slam your laptop shut and hold it under your arm. âIf you listen to me tomorrow, then I might stop bugging you. I am not having another failed day chasing because of your inability to choose which storms to follow.â
Tyler sighs. âWhy do you always have to do things the hard way?â
You huff and walk away, heading back over to the rest of the team. You grab a drink out of the cooler and sit down on the tailgate of Tylerâs truck, sitting your laptop beside you. The other members of the team watch you cautiously, like youâre a brewing storm that could become a tornado at any moment.
âAnyone wanna take my spot in the truck tomorrow? Iâll ride elsewhere,â you offer.
Boone stares at you for a moment. âYou promise?â
You make a face at Boone and take a sip of your drink. âYes, I promise,â you say. âIâm sorry you had to listen to all that today. God, he just drives me up the wall sometimes. I donât know how he expects us to continue running this damn Youtube channel or get the research we need if we donât get the right storms to chase.â
âHey, no Tyler talk while youâre over here,â Dani pipes up. âThis is a safe zone.â
âSorry, sorry,â you mutter, lapsing into silence just as Dexter, Lily and Kate re-join the group, having headed upstairs to their rooms to refresh themselves before coming back down for dinner. You watch as Kate heads over to help Tyler out.
By the time the two of them bring dinner over to you, youâve managed to cool off a fair amount and are now discussing the forecast for tomorrow with Dexter, who is leant up against the truck, looking at your laptop over your shoulder.Â
âBurgers are ready,â Kate announces as they place the tray of them on the small camp table that someone had set up earlier in the evening. âWe worked real hard on them.â
Youâre surprised when Tyler picks up two paper plates, puts a burger on each of them and then walks over to you, handing one of them to you before taking the seat beside you on the tailgate.Â
âTruce?â He says, looking across at you. âIâm sorry âbout today, I mean it.â
Your lips quirk up into a smile. âYou promise you didnât poison my burger?â
Tyler chuckles. âNo, not unless Kate put something in there that I didnât see.â
âOkay, then. Truce,â you nod. âBut Iâm not riding with you tomorrow.â
He raises his eyebrows just as he takes a bite of his burger. It takes him a few moments to reply, refusing to speak with a mouth full of food â something his mother had instilled in him from a very young age. âWhat? Why? Youâre not still that mad at me, are you?â
âNo, I just need a change of scenery or Iâm worried Iâll run you off the road. I saw the way you got today when you got distracted cause I was arguing with you. Itâll be good for us to cool off and get a break from each other.â
From across the group, Boone adds âI think you just want to argue over the radio, actually. Thatâs what you mean by a change of scenery, isnât it?â His voice is teasing.
âFunny,â you narrow your eyes at him.
âYou can ride with me and Lily tomorrow,â Kate changes the subject ever so slightly. âBoone can ride with Tyler. Just like old times, right?â
You look at Tyler, expecting him to be happy with the idea of you riding with the others tomorrow so you donât bother him all day, but instead he looks concerned. His eyebrows are knotted together and the look on his face shows heâs displeased.Â
âTy?â
He blinks and the look disappears off of his face. âYeah, go for it. Boone and Iâll be right, hey buddy?â He raises his beer in a cheers to Boone, who does the same thing. âDonât miss me too much from the other car though.â
âMe, missing you? I think you should try not to miss me, T.â
Tyler grins. âEasier said than done, sunshine.â
The following morning it feels strange to be getting into a car thatâs not Tylerâs red truck. Itâs your usual mode of transport. Your seat is the passenger seat and it has been for most of the chases in the past, except for ones where footage was the primary purpose of the chase and not research.Â
Youâre just lifting your bag up into the trunk of Lilyâs car when Tyler swoops in behind you and helps you lift it â as if it weighed more than it actually did, as if you were actually having trouble with it. You turn around, eyebrows raised.Â
âMorninâ, sunshine,â Tyler grins. âHavenât had a sudden change of heart, I see?â
âNot happening,â you smile in return. âYouâll be fine without me. You and Boone will be able to catch up like old times. And donât worry, if we disagree on something, Iâll be sure to let you know about it over the radio anyway. I have Kate on my side today.â
Tyler laughs. âOh, double whammy. Iâm in danger today, arenât I?â
Kate appears from the other side of the car, putting her own bag in beside yours. She wraps an arm around your shoulders and shoots a smile at Tyler. âYouâre gonna regret letting her ride in a car other than yours today, Tyler. A day driving with Lily and I⊠sheâs gonna be a changed woman by the time she gets back in your truck tomorrow.â
âThatâs if I even want to get back in his truck, Kate.â
He stares at the two of you and then shakes his head and laughs to himself. âOkay, Iâm getting Boone and getting out of here before Lily shows up and you guys gang up on me even more,â he turns and heads for his truck. âDrive safe, all right?â
You and Kate both laugh, watching him as he walks towards his truck, Boone joining him on the way there. Dani and Dexter arenât far behind him, hopping into the van, and Lily comes bounding down the steps after them, her bag over her own shoulder.Â
âWe ready for today, ladies!?â She calls loudly from across the lot.Â
âLetâs do this!â Kate matches her energy.
You take the back seat, feeling incredibly out of place in the car as Lily starts the engine and follows the other two cars out of the parking lot, leaving the motel behind. Itâs smaller in this car compared to Tylerâs, and as you pull your laptop out of your bag and get the radar up on it to get another look at the storm youâd all chosen earlier in the morning, you wonder if you made the right choice.
Youâve been on the road for two hours, heading for a storm north of you when you look down at the radar again and see that itâs gotten smaller â not becoming the larger storm you were all hoping for and certainly not likely to produce a tornado. Itâs your job to reach up and grab the radio from between Lily and Kate in the front seats to inform the others.Â
âThe stormâs shrinking, I think we should pull into a gas station and regroup,â you tell the others through the radio, already preparing yourself for the response.
It comes through almost instantly. Tyler, laughing, then his voice: âWhat was that you were saying to me last night about listening to you? Guess youâre off your game, darlinâ.â
Kate grabs the radio off of you before you can say anything else. âOkay, we all chose this storm together, Tyler. Letâs not throw accusations around and not over the radio.âÂ
Youâre unaware that in the truck, Boone is telling Tyler off for the exact same thing.Â
âThanks, Kate,â you reach forward and squeeze her shoulder as she hands the radio back to you. âNext gas station, letâs pull in and we can all look at the radar together. I donât think weâre gonna get anything massive in the time it takes us to regroup.âÂ
âYou sure about that, sunshine?â Tylerâs voice comes through the radio again. âI donât know if we can trust your ability to forecast the weather anymââ His voice cuts off abruptly.
âSorry âbout him,â You hear Boone say shortly after. âWeâll see you at the gas station.â
You give the radio back to Kate and lean back in your seat, sighing as you look out the window at the blue sky and the clouds scattered around it. How could he have been perfectly tolerable last night during dinner, help you with your bag this morning and yet be so irritating? You hadnât even said anything to spur him on.Â
Itâs about an hour later by the time you reach the next gas station and youâre grateful when you can get out and stretch your legs. Lily and Kate both head for the bathroom while you head inside to order some drinks and food for the three of you. You donât bother to wait for Tyler when you see him hop out of his truck.Â
He makes his way up to you once youâre inside, waiting for your drinks to be made.
âHowâs the other car goinâ?â Tyler asks, nudging your shoulder gently.
You look at him, arms crossed over your chest, and look away, choosing to say nothing.
âCome on, sunshine. Youâre seriously ignoring me? Whereâs that fiery attitude of yours? Just cause youâre in another car doesnât mean you canât give me shit right back when I give it to you,â he tries.Â
But youâre not interested in the slightest. His words had been uncalled for â especially when youâd moved to another car in an attempt to diffuse the tension between the two of you, and heâd just brought it right back up.
The waitress slides the drinks over the counter and calls your name just as Lily and Kate exit the bathroom, heading straight for you.Â
âCan you guys watch my drink? I need to go grab my phone from the car,â you tell them.
Lily and Kate happily take your drink, moving to stand beside Tyler and make conversation with him as you head back outside to grab your phone. You donât really need it that badly, itâd be perfectly fine to leave in the car till you headed back outside anyway, but it was your way of getting out of a conversation with Tyler. Not that it really was much of a conversation anyway.
When your phone is in hand, you make no hurry to walk back inside the gas station. You make note of several other storm chasers in the parking lot and filling up their cars with gas. Itâs a popular stretch of road for chasers and you assume several of them had been chasing the same storm as you and had realised it was going to be a bust.
You almost bump into one of them as youâre heading back inside. You recognise him instantly. Heâs in one of the more well known teams, one of the Wranglers rivals and one of the many other groups of chasers that think you guys are just in it for the money you get from the Youtube videos rather than a genuine love of weather and chasing.
âWell, if it isnât my favourite Tornado Wrangler,â Xavier flashes a smile at you and holds the door open for you to enter, following in after you. âBit of tension in the group, I hear.â
You frown, unsure about his words meaning, when he continues.
âOne of my guys was switching frequencies in the van and got yours on accident. We, uh, we heard your little⊠disagreement with Owens,â he admits. âI promise we werenât listening in on purpose. Thatâs the last thing Iâd wanna do. But yâknow⊠open channels and all.â
You canât help but cringe at his words and let out an awkward laugh. âIâm sorry you had to hear that, Xavier. Itâs nothing a little time and a successful storm wonât fix, anyway. I think everyone in the chasing community knows Tyler and I butt heads nearly every day.âÂ
âButt heads? Honey, that sounded a lot more like an intentional insult to me.â
âNo,â you shake your head. âNo, Tyler wouldnât do that.â
Hearing that Xavier thought Tylerâs words were an insult is the kick you need to make you realise that they werenât. Tyler was the type to get on your nerves, that was true. But the type to intentionally insult you in an attempt to hurt your feelings? He would never do that.
Xavier gives you an unimpressed look. âListen, honey â we have a spot available in our team and itâs yours if you want it,â He reaches out and places a hand on your waist, almost making you flinch at the action. You resist the urge to hit his hand off. âYou have the degree to prove you know what youâre doing and I think we both know youâre wasting your time with the Wranglers. Especially proven that their leader seems to treat you like something on the bottom of his shoe⊠me, on the other hand, well⊠Iâd treat you better.â
You try your hardest to control your expression, not wanting to come across the wrong way or to make a scene in front of everyone in the gas station â your team, his team and the several other teams and general patrons all milling about and eating their mid-day feed. Even though you feel uncomfortable as all hell and would love nothing more than to deliver a swift punch to his nose and book it straight back out the door.Â
âListen, Xavier,â you take a step closer to him and almost cringe at the way his lips move up into a smile at your closer proximity. âI wouldnât join your team if it was the last storm chasing team on earth. If you think Iâm wasting my time with my team, I hate to think how much time Iâd waste on yours. Iâve seen how much time you spend looking in your car mirrors. If you didnât know, the tornadoes donât actually care how your hair looks.â You reach up and pat his chest condescendingly. âAnd if I hear you say one more bad word about Tyler Owens, Iâll make sure the whole chasing community knows about what happened here today, how you tried to come onto me just to get me to join your team. Trust me, it wonât end well for you.â
You donât waste anymore time in removing his hand from your waist and leaving him standing alone as you head back over to your group. Kate and Lily are watching you from right where you left them, though Tyler isnât with them anymore.Â
Kate hands you your drink. âYou all right? What the hell was that?â
âJust Xavier being an asshole,â you mutter, risking a look over your shoulder to see that heâs gone to join the rest of his group. You hope heâs seething and embarrassed by your words. âI dealt with him though.âÂ
You canât shake the uncomfortable feeling still running through your body, though. You try and take a sip of your coffee to calm yourself down. It doesnât work, really only making you feel more jittery and strange.Â
âIâm gonna go wait out at the car, when you guys are all done we can check the radar together and decide where to go from here, all right? You guys can tell the others?â You ask.
Kate nods. âYeah, course. You sure youâre okay, though?â
You look between her and Lily, noticing the worried looks on their faces, and try and put a smile on your own face to stop them from worrying so much. âYeah, I promise. Itâs just packed to the brim in here and I wanna get some fresh air after all the driving.â
You can feel Kate and Lilyâs eyes on you as you leave, coming out the door youâd only just come inside through. You make a beeline straight to the car, taking a deep breath, grateful for the cool breeze on your skin and the warmth of the sun above you. The uncomfortable feeling starts to fade as you open the door to the car and climb up, putting your coffee in the cup holder and leaving your feet hanging out the door as you start to scroll on your phone to distract yourself.Â
Itâs only a few minutes later when someone stands in the way of the sun and casts a shadow over you. You blink up to meet Tylerâs eyes. He stands in the doorway of the truck, a hand on his hip.
âAlready scouting a new group to join cause of me, are you?â He starts, and it takes everything in you not to roll your eyes. âI go to the bathroom for two minutes and come out to see you and freakinâ Xavier all close? When the hell did that happen?â
You let out a huff and squeeze your eyes shut. âSeriously, T, can you not do this right now?â
Tyler shakes his head. âI wasnât trying to insult you over the radio, sunshine. Usually, you give it right back to me, so thatâs what I was expecting, and I know I took it too far â Boone said as much after we put the radio down. I really am sorry about it.â
You open your mouth to tell him itâs all right, that you accept his apology, but he continues speaking, cutting you off and making you glad you never got a chance to actually speak.
âBut out of everyone, I see you flirting with Xavier? I mean, come on.â
âI wasnât flirtingââ
âSure as hell looked that way to me,â he huffs. âYou two were all touchy. I saw it.â
You take a deep breath and move to stand up, forcing him to move out of your way. You close the car door behind you and turn to face him, crossing your arms over your chest. You are not going to have this argument like this.Â
âIf I didnât know better, Iâd think you were jealous, Tyler.â
Tyler doesnât hesitate before he replies. âWell, thatâs cause I am.â
For the first time since youâve known Tyler Owens, youâre lost for words. You open your mouth once, twice, unable to come up with anything to say to him. It seems Tyler is the same, just staring at you, his eyes ever so slightly wide.Â
âThen⊠then youâre jealous for all the wrong reasons,â you manage.
You should be saying something else â teasing him, getting on his nerves, but your short response is all you can get out and itâs nothing like your usual tone when you talk to Tyler.
He frowns. âWhy is that?â
You clear your throat. âCause he was the one coming onto me, telling me to join his team and talking shit about you, and I was the one telling him not to talk shit about you and not to put his hands on me, like he thought he could clearly do without consent.â
As soon as you finish speaking, you regret your words only because of the look that crosses over Tylerâs face. He glances over your shoulder towards the gas station where you assume Xavier and his team still are.Â
âThat piece of shit,â Tyler mutters, and then heâs moving.
Youâre quick to react, hurrying after him and reaching out to grab his arm and attempt to tug him to a stop. It doesnât work the first time, but the second time it does. âTyler, stop. You going in there is not going to help anything, itâs just going to make things worse.â
Tyler turns to look at you and youâve never seen him look so mad before.Â
âYouâre telling me that guy put his hands on you and tried to come onto you and you donât want me to go and give him a piece of my mind? Sunshine, he deserves worse than what I can do to him, but Iâll do my best,â he says.
You donât miss the fact that Tyler manoeuvres your grip on his arm to take your hand in his instead, weaving his fingers in-between yours and giving your hand a squeeze. Â
âIâm saying that I already gave him a piece of my mind, T, and I threatened that Iâd tell everyone about what he did if he said anything bad about you again,â you explain.Â
âI donât care if he says anything about me, but the fact that he did that to you⊠everyone already deserves to know what a piece of shit he is,â Tyler seethes.Â
You squeeze his hand, then. âIâm sure theyâll find out one of these days, but not today, T, please. I just wanted to come out here and get some fresh air and try and forget what happened.â
Tyler takes a breath and then takes a step towards you, away from the gas station. âDo you want company or do you want me to go back inside and tell the others to hang back inside a while?â
âYouâd do that?â
He laughs softly. âHave the last few minutes not shown you that Iâd do pretty much anything for you, sunshine? And last night? The last thing I wanted was for you to ride with someone else other than me, but I could tell itâs what you wanted, so I didnât fight you on it.â
âAnd what you said over the radio this morning?â
âI missed you and the way you always disagree with me. I just acted on it the wrong way.â
âYeah,â you nod your head. âYou were a real asshole.â
Tylerâs face breaks out into a grin. âNot gonna disagree with you on that one.â
You stare up at him for a moment, honestly surprised at how quickly things had changed between you. Only minutes ago, Tyler was mad at you, then he was mad at Xavier and now he was standing here, smiling at you like you were as bright as the sun. His nickname was fitting for you, you suppose.
âWill you just come and stay with me for a bit? Till whenever the others come out?â You ask, nodding your head back towards the car where youâd been sitting before.
Tyler nods. âI have one condition, though.â
âName it.â
âYou sit in my truck instead, and you come back and ride with me in it again.â
You canât keep the smile off your face. âThatâs two conditions, actually, T.â
âAnd you didnât say no to either of them,â Tyler smiles. âCome on, sunshine.â

Look at Him.
â©àż summary: your attempts at reentering the dating scene is foiled by your ex-husband.
warning(s): past relationship, clingy!gojo, ex-husband!gojo, co-parenting situation, crack fic. wc; 1.6k
pairing(s): gojo satoru x fem!reader
a/n: this is purely just a goof fic because i've put nothing but angst out there so far sooo have a laugh. hope yall enjoy :3
âSo, what do you do for a living?â
"A teacher."
"Oh, wow! What grade, subject?"
"Uh, highschoolers and the subject kinda varies on the day."
"Like a substitute teacher?"
"Um....sure, yeah! Substitute teacher."
"That's awesome. Mad respect, kids can be demons."
You were quickly discovering that the dating field had changed in the five years that you had been married. An endless back and forth about what someone did, what's their favorite color, what's their hobbies. Boring questions that you would ask your students on the first day was used in over the table date conversation. Until, until, they got to that question they so desperately wanted to ask.
Would you want to take this back to myâ
There was a vibration against your thigh as your date started to go onto a monologue about how much he disliked kids. In all honesty, you couldn't really remember his name. The introductions had been awkward and a little nerve wrackingâ you were almost sure he had no idea who you were either.
You tugged your phone out of your pocket and resisted the audible sigh that threatened to leave you when you saw the notification.
Satoru please tell me why my beautiful, radiant, amazing, intelligent daughter just said her mommy is on a date. feeling sick to my stomach, don't tell me this is true.
You rolled your eyes. Your ex-husband had always been so overdramatic. His main focus was always on the bit that could come from a situation. However, this was a quality you do used to admire about him. His ability to make any situation seem like it was a funny happenstance that you'd never encounter again.
Now, it was nothing more than a nuisance.
Satoru oh my god, you left me on read. it's true. it's true. i hope you know i just threw up. i threw up everywhere. i might die. at least, tell me he's ugly. please god let him to be ugly.
A sigh, you typed out the quickest message you could without your date asking what's wrong.
You I hope you're not ignoring said daughter to ask me about some date. I'll be home later, please refrain from texting me.
You were about to set your phone down when another text came through. This one appeared to more distraught than the last.
Satoru o h your tone. it's over. it's really over. i might just kill myself this is the worst night of my life. y/n, i'm genuinely feeling sick. please, is he ugly? he must be boring because you're texting back.
You were almost inclined to remind Satoru you both had been divorced for a year already. That this was bound to happen and you two had, in fact, spoken about it months into the divorce. You had played with some 'what if's and there was a mutual agreement that the other wouldn't get jealous and be dramatic about the other getting in a relationship whenever the time comes. It was a surprisingly adult conversation.
You should've known better when Satoru proudly proclaimed he didn't care who you got involved with.
You Satoru, we talked about this. We're adults and we're divorced. Please bother someone else, like Suguru.
Satoru i don't wanna talk to suguru. i wanna talk to youuu (;ïč;) i can't believe you've done this. ten years. ten years of loyalty. im sick to my stomach.
You You asked for the divorce.
"Is everything okay?"
You eyes snapped up from your phone and towards your date. He had the good grace to be wearing a relatively concerned expression, eyeing you wearily.
You quickly tucked your phone back into your pocket, ignoring the insistent vibrations it gave to smile apologetically. "I'm sorry, my daughter had an accident and I had to, you know, send a quick text to her babysitter." It was easier to explain away a daughter than it was a clingy ex-husband who was well in his dissent into insanity. Really, you were doing this guy a favor keeping him in the dark.
However, his face still paled and he straightened. "You have a kidI'm so, so sorry. I just went on a two minute rant about how much kids are equivalent to demons." He seemed to spiral as he pressed his hands against his face, uttering curses to himself. "I get so nervous with these dates. I truly meant nothing by it."
You smiled in amusement, "It's no problem, really. I'm not exactly disagreeing." He peeked from between his fingers and blinked at you dumbly. "Just because I'm a parent doesn't mean I don't agree. I mean, my kid can be a bit much sometimes. I love her, but she's a lot like her dad in that way."
It always made your chest blossom. The way Saori was a carbon copy of Satoru. From the rambunctious personality, to the piercing blue eyes, and white hair. Your genes hadn't won in the battle, but you were almost grateful. Satoru tried to tell you that she had your smile and your wit, but you weren't entirely convinced. She was Satoru and Satoru was her.
You were extremely lucky that he was a good dad.
"Oh? Do you mind me asking if her dad's still around?" His tone was indication enough: a daughter and an ex of some kind was pushing it for him.
You tensed up, feeling deep regret already. "Uh, yeah." His eyes shifted away and you reached forward, taking his hand. "But, he's not, like, crazy or anything! He's just a good dad."
Your date chuckled nervously. "I-I just don't want to get involved in some, um, some family dynamic."
You thought it was a little presumptuous of him to think this would go that far, or he'd get in the way. But you were too focused on defusing the situation.
"Oh, no, it's not like that! We've got a healthy balance, y'know? He does his piece, I do mineâ that's it!"
He scrunched his face. "So... an open relationship?"
"No!" You press your hands against your face with a huff. "No, we're not together anymore. We just co-parent."
He opened his mouth to further question you when your phone vibrated very audibly. His eyebrows raising. "Your daughter?"
You sighed. "Please give me one moment."
With jerky movements, you pull your phone from your pocket. The assortment of messages that came where spread over the ten minutes you decided to ignore him.
Satoru okay, you've got me there. but my big heart is breaking. i hope he's ugly and he smells. okay, i spoke with suguru and he said i'm an idiot who should apologize. in my defense, i'm a little itty bitty drunk. and no, saori is not awake. papa put her to bed before bringing out the whiskey. im so sorry my beautiful deity. that not ugly, not smelly man is so lucky to be in your presence and i hope you have a good date. also i hope he gets hit my a car. (âœïŒŸ)
You I'm going to kill you with my bare hands. Genuinely, count your days, Gojo Satoru.
Satoru hot, hot, hot!!! (âÂŽâĄ`)⥠did he actually get hit by a car?
You Is there something you want?
Satoru him dead. and you home :((((
You You don't want me home. I swear to god, if you're on my couch, drinking when I get home, I will ruin your life.
Satoru promise??? â°(âżÂŽâŁ`âż)âŻâĄ but, actually, i wanted to ask your opinion on something
You For real?
Satoru for realsies. [Image Attachment]
Completely blinded by your irritation, you don't even hesitate to open the picture as it loads. Although you regret it the moment it does.
It's a picture of Satoru. He's at what seems to be the beach (must've been the fun activity him and Saori were going to join Suguru for), his sunglasses were on the top of his head, and he was grinning at the picture. One hand was resting against his pectoral and the veins in his hand was prominent. An obvious attempt at being charming and flirtatious. It was working too.
If it weren't for the fact that you knew him and were his ex, you might've just swooned.
"Oh, my god, is that him?" Your date was staring at your phone with wide eyes. His face even more pale than before. He started to shake his head as he stood, snatching his jacket from the back of his chair. "No way. I am not getting involved! I'm sorry, you're a nice woman, but I know when I'm not winning. And I'm definitely not winning against that."
Your eyes widened considerably, "What? No! Please don't leave. He's an idiot, I swear there's nothingâ"
"He is... a hunk. I am not. In no shape or form am I at all comparable to that. Lookâ" He reached forward, grabbing your phone and holding the picture up to be beside his face. "Look at the difference! Model who has won Japan's hottest man at least eight times before he's 30 to meâ Look at him!"
"It's not even like that!" You snatched your phone back and stared at him in frustration. "He's my ex, I do not want him!"
He waved his hands in front of your face. "I know how this will go. You think you like me and then your super hot and super sexy ex-whatever makes you realize the familiarity is good. Then I get dumped." He straightened, latching his hands onto the lapels of his jacket. "I just realized I am a side character. In my own life. Goddammit."
He barely glanced at you as he paid for the dinner, then left as quickly as he could. Still, you didn't even know his name.
Satoru oooo taking you awhile to respondddd still in love with me? (äșșâÏâ)

Truth or Dare (Anthony Bridgerton x Wife!Reader)
Summary: Married only a few months, you are very much one of the Bridgerton brood - something that often drives your poor husband mad, especially when you happen to be every bit as chaotic and unruly as his siblings... Also known as, you, Benedict and Eloise take a game of âtruth or dareâ a bit too far.Â
A/N: What can I say? Itâs well and truly fluff-tober over here on my blog đ
Warnings: Alcohol, mild smut, swearing, Anthony losing his mind, typical Bridgerton sibling shenanigansÂ
Masterlist
There werenât many nights Anthony spent away from your side.
They were few and far between, but that didnât lessen how irksome you found them when the odd occasion called for him to leave you over night. You didnât know what it was exactly, but you never truly slept well without your husband there to hold you.
Of course, it had to be one of those nights that you truly found yourself in a spot of mischief. Though, in fairness, it had all started rather innocently.
Un-beknowst to you at the time, it was Benedict that had been first outside on the garden swing, sipping from a stolen bottle of whiskey heâd pilfered from the kitchens. Heâd been sat there perhaps ten minutes by himself, staring at the stars and lamenting about some problem or other.
Then Eloise had come along.
As was her habit - you later discovered - she had been swift to follow her brotherâs example, sneaking out of the house in her nightgown for a reprieve in the night air⊠and a cigarette or two. Apparently her second-eldest brother was something of a soft touch when it came to her, not that you could blame him for it. You doted on Eloise too.
Then, finally, completing the eclectic cast of characters, there had been you.
Now, in your defence, you hadnât intended on going out into the garden that night, but had found no other alternative suitable given the blasted summer heat. It was worse tonight that it had been all week, and without Anthony in bed beside you, you saw little point in enduring with the effort of trying to get any rest.
So, youâd decided to make your way quietly through the house and sit outside a while, and pray for a breeze. You hadnât, however, expected to find both Bridgerton siblings already sat there, having had a similar idea.
âMy, what do we have here? Another night owl?â
It was Benedict who spoke first, smiling warmly at the sight of you appearing out of the darkness. He was quick to rise, offering you his swing as a perch to rest upon, beside Eloise.
You were about to protest that it wasnât necessary and that you could find somewhere else to sit, but a warning glare from Eloise was enough to silence you.
She was all too eager to pat the seat next to her in invitation, looking remarkably pleased to have another addition to their little party.
âCome. Sit,â she ordered. âWe were simply discussing how tedious Lady Tremaineâs luncheon will be tomorrow and how we could possibly avoid the whole thing. Now that youâre here, you can help us plot our escape. Benedictâs only suggestion thus far has been some kind of contagious summer cold.â
âI think I actually said that I would use such an excuse, sister,â Benedict corrected with a teasing grin. âNot that we would share it.â
âTraitor.â
âHardly. It is every man - or woman - for themselves. Right, Y/N?â
âAlas, I think your mother would be rather suspicious at all three of us suddenly being absent,â you sighed by way of explanation as both their eyes turned to you. âBesides, I only came outside because of this heat, not to join some conspiracy.â
âHardly,â Eloise chuckled. âWe simply had the same idea, but I am rather glad you came to join us. Perhaps we should form some secret kind of club - Bridgertons against boredom?â
âAnd do what? Constantly find excuses not to attend social events we deem too tedious or odious to be dragged along to?â
âSounds like a marvellous idea to me.â
âIt would, sister dear,â Benedict teased. âYou always have a talent for causing chaos and anarchy. Youâd suit the cause perfectly, even if we both know our mother would never stand for it. She somehow sees through even our best efforts.â
âIn which case, itâs time I take a leaf out of your book, Benedict. After all, you always say social events become far more bearable after a good drink or two,â Eloise smirked, gesturing towards the bottle of whiskey Benedict had been steadily nursing. âPerhaps I should follow my brothers  example and learn to hold a drink, maybe then things will be more fun.â
âOh no.â Benedict was quick to shut down that idea, holding the bottle possessively to his chest and shaking his head. âNo. I am not allowing you to start drinking. Mother would have my head if she caught you, not to mention Anthony would have all ours heads on a platter in no time.â
The thought of it made you laugh. Your husband was hardly a tyrant, even if heâd been known to have a temper but he was easy enough to handle. A few soft words in his ear or a kiss on the cheek and he was putty in your hands, helplessly and completely in love with you. Just as you were in love with him.
âDonât tell me youâre scared of Anthony, Benedict?â you giggled, causing Eloise to join you. âI assure you, heâs more a kitten than a lion and heâd probably prefer you to allow Eloise to sample alcohol here, under your supervision, than when she inevitably decides to rebel and has her first drink later on, in the middle of some public ballâŠâ
The warning was clear and you all knew very likely true. Still, Eloise was beaming in victory as Benedict cursed to himself, muttering about Bridgerton women and the likely death heâd receive should Anthony ever find out he had allowed Eloise to sample whiskey. âJust a few sips, El. I mean it.â
âOh hush,â she snorted, taking the bottle before he could change his mind. She was quick to throw back her head and down a rather brave mouthful, causing you to laugh even harder as she scrunched her face up in disgust. âOh! That is revolting.â
âI told you.â
âNow you, Y/N,â Eloise grinned, turning and offering the offending item towards you. âGo on. Join us trouble makers - I wonât say a word about it if you donât.â
âOh, for goodness sake⊠Give me that then,â you sighed, earning a cheer from them both, knowing it was better to simply surrender rather than try and fight their mischievous whims. It only increased as you took an ambitious swig from the bottle, wincing at the acrid burning sensation it left in your throat.
If only Anthony could have seen you. Heâd have probably had some kind of seizure - especially as you took another quick swig before handing the bottle back.
âThere. Your turn again, brother dearest.â
âMy my. You really are quite surprising,â Benedict sniggered, before winking up at you in admiration. âWho knew it? You can hold your drink better than Colin. He seems cursed to choke any time he drinks anything stronger than a brandy.â
âWell, it is your sex that falsely deemed us the weaker,â Eloise quipped. âItâs not our fault you were ignorant.â
âIâd like to remind you I wasnât part of that decision and you also looked ready to choke a moment ago, El.â
âDoesnât matter, youâre still one of the enemy,â she giggled, earning another raucous laugh from you. Oh, you loved her. If youâd ever been so blessed to have had a sister, you hoped sheâd have been just like her. âNow, it is your turn again, brother.â
âOh ⊠joy.â
âElse we shall have to have some kind of forfeit.â
âA forfeit?â you scoffed, finding the idea absurd. âLike what?â
âHow about⊠truth or dare?â
Benedict froze. âOh no. Not again. Pall Mall is one thing but we swore we would never play that game in this family again-â
âBut Benedict-â
âWhatâs truth or dare?â
Your innocent question ceased their bickering instantly. Their eyes widened as they turned to you, a knowing and nervous look passing between them. Somehow, you knew this evening was about to get wildly out of hand.
Sometime later, youâd been fully apprised of the rules of âtruth or dareâ. In fact, youâd been something of a natural at it, even if you knew the copious amounts of whiskey youâd all consumed was more than likely the responsible culprit. Else, youâd probably have known better and snuck back off inside before you could make a fool of yourself.
By the end of the night, Benedict had climbed a tree, confessed to being oddly scared of spiders, and been forced to sing the national anthem in French.
Eloise had also made an admirable effort, despite her obviously lower tolerance for drink. She still permitted Benedict to try and arrange her hair, before daring to steal a sock from Colinâs room whilst heâd slept. Then sheâd loosened a leg on a dining chair. (Alas, none of you could remember which one but that somehow made it even funnier - even if it would not be come morning when you were forced to sit at the table for breakfast in some kind of roulette.)
You could only pray you didnât choose said seat.
You could also only pray neither of your conspirators shared your contributions with your husband. You werenât exactly sure how Anthony would feel at the fact you gone for a midnight paddle in the pond, nor that youâd mixed up the papers on his desk, all before finishing the night with a final dare that involved stealing several cakes from the kitchens⊠you still swore Mrs Reynolds would notice, come morning, that there were no longer twelve perfect cakes.
That, and Benedict had somehow knocked flour all over the counter, causing you all to erupt in drunken laughter as youâd bolted back outside. Â
Needless to say, you all looked a sorry sight as you lay in the grass together, staring at the approaching dawn. Had you not been so tired, or drunk, you may have suggested retiring back to your rooms before the house awoke shortly.
âNow that⊠was fun.â
âFun? That was more than fun. I havenât laughed like that in ages.â
âTold you it was a good idea.â
You hummed in agreement with your sister in law.
âI can see why you all favoured this game so much,â you sniggered, winking at Eloise as she sat in the grass beside you. âI can also see why you all agreed to stop playing it⊠I donât know what Anthony would say if he saw what weâd been up to.â
âSomething sensible and disapproving most likely,â Benedict sniggered. âOur brother, and your husband, can be a right prig, no offence.â
âOh hush. At least I didnât let my sister dress me up in her petticoat when she was five.â
Benedictâs jaw dropped.
âWho told you about that?â he demanded indignantly.
âI have my sources.â
Benedictâs eyes narrowed as he turned his head to glare at his younger sister. âWell, you can tell your source that sheâs going to have to find someone else to fetch her lemonade at the Cowperâs ball tomorrow night unless she apologises. You can also tell her that Iâll accept either a verbal or a written apology as long as itâs suitably abject. And that means very, very abject,â he added darkly.
âTell me, Benedict, was it a lacy petticoat?â
With a wordless grunt of annoyance, Benedict groaned, but it was hard to hear over the laughter echoing from you and Eloise. You resembled more a pack of hyenas than two noble ladies - you probably looked just as feral after your night of mischief.
And of course, as was always your luck, that was exactly how your husband found you mere seconds later.
How Anthony had arrived without any of you hearing a carriage pulling up to the house at this time of the night - morning? You couldnât be sure - was a mystery. Yet, there he was, hands on hips and looking thunderous as he stormed towards the three of you with all the fury of an exasperated headmaster. Â
âWhat in Godâs name are you all playing at?â
You all froze.
It was as if someone had poured a bucket of ice water over you as your eyes widened, and you all turned to stare sheepishly at him.
âOh, darling. Youâre home?â
âDonât âoh darlingâ me,â Anthony sighed, attempting to scold you but without much success. His attempt at seriousness was somewhat undermined by his brotherâs heckling, singing âhere comes motherâ and that âsomeoneâs in troubleâ. That, and with the way you were lying, he was upside down. âWhat are you doing up at this god forsaken hour? And why are you ⊠is that flour? And why are you soaking wet?â
âI went for a swim.â
âA - you went for a -â
âAnd Benedict did my hair,â Eloise interjected suddenly, waving her arms about as she gestured to the tangle of hair upon her head. âIsnât it marvellous?â
Anthonyâs expression very much said that he did not think it was marvellous. Nor did he find any of this vaguely amusing.
In fact, by the way he took a long deep breath, you knew he was doing his best not to lose his temper and wake the entirety of the household. His brow always creased like that when he was faced with dealing with his family, but the expression only made him seem more adorable and handsome to you, rather than authoritative. However, youâd never told him so, knowing it would hardly be deemed a compliment in his eyes.
You also doubted heâd appreciate your usual response right now, which was normally to kiss said brow until it eased back into its relaxed form.
âWe were just playing a game to escape the heat, darling,â you soothed. âWe couldnât sleep and all had the same idea to seek refuge outdoors⊠we simply got carried away passing the time.â
âWhat game?â
âPardon?â
âI said, what was the game you were all playing?â Anthony suddenly quipped, the warning clear in his tone. That, and his eyes landed squarely on his two siblings, who at least had the decency to look sheepish⊠and afraid. âBecause there is but one game I can think of that would result in a mess like this one, and Iâm confused, because I know for a fact that we banned that game under this roof, and any other roof that houses the Bridgertons.â
No one moved.
No one even breathed.
It was as if you were all too scared to risk answering Anthony, even if the empty bottle of whiskey did most of the talking by itself.
âI donât recall the name,â you blinked. âRight, Benedict?â
âOh, uh⊠we⊠we were just- Eloise?â
Eloise froze, the guilt written all too clearly on her face for her to even try and salvage the situation - though that could also be down to the whisky she had consumed⊠it was honestly hard to be sure at this point.
âWell, dear brother,â she began, only to trail off as Anthony lifted his hand.
The silence was instantaneous.Â
No one dared to say another word, let alone move.Â
Youâd never seen Eloise or Benedict so still in your entire life. Hell, you werenât even sure they were breathing - probably out of fear Anthony would decide to inform their mother about their mischievous exploits.Â
If Anthony Bridgerton was scary when vexed, then Violet Bridgerton was a nightmare brought to life in human form. After all, as the matriarch of a family of eight children, she had learned a long time ago how to keep her unruly children in line - a harrowing experience you had only had occasion to witness once or twice since your marriage into the Bridgerton family. Once had been when Colin and Gregory had broken a priceless vase when racing around the house, despite being explicitly banned from doing so. The other had been when she had caught Eloise and Benedict smoking outside on the terrace one night.Â
It was easy to say where your husband had inherited it from.Â
âNot. Another. Word,â your husband growled, bending down and sweeping you up into his arms in a move that made you squeal in surprise. âRight now, I am taking my wife to bed and I suggest you two do the same - after you clean up your mess. Iâll deal with the lot of you in the morning.âÂ
A laugh escaped you as you tried not to look like you were enjoying the sudden turn of events too much. After all, you doubted heâd be too happy once you were more sober and he discovered the true extent of your nightly activities.Â
It was why you were only too happy to let him put you to bed, grumbling all the while about letting his siblings run wild. He really was most handsome when he was flushed - a fact you were reminded of as he hastily changed for bed, flashing you a tempting glimpse of his bare torso in the process.Â
You could tell without asking he was tired from his journey home, as well as fighting the urge to rip his hair out over the chaos he had found upon his return.Â
Thankfully, his need to be in your arms outweighed the need to scold you over letting yourself be drawn into his siblingsâ schemes. All it took was you pulling him down onto the mattress, and climbing into his lap to turn him into a needy, lovestruck puddle.Â
Youâd equally missed having him in your arms, but youâd be lying if you said that your sudden forwardness wasn't also due to a mixture of the whiskey youâd drunk, and the residual giddiness from a night of mischief. A confidence radiated from you as you began to run your hands over his bare chest, taking care to graze the areas you knew made him groan.Â
âYouâre lucky I love you so much,â he teased breathlessly, visibly unable to refuse your advances.Â
âIs that so?â
Anthony chuckled, nodding as he surged his lips towards yours. âYes, so come here, my delinquent drunken wife, and let me kiss you before you and those doe-eyes of yours drive me insane. Now.â
Your laughter and surrender was immediate. âAs you wish.âÂ
Alas, for poor Anthony, that was not the end of the ordeal.Â
In fact, it was the next morning as you made your way into breakfast that you faced the final consequences of your delinquency.Â
Despite wishing to remain abed for the entire day, youâd been granted no such reprieve as your maid had entered your room at the usual appointed time and proceeded to open the curtains with no regard for the fact that you had slept a mere handful of hours. Whereas you would normally greet the day with a reluctant smile, you were in no state to manage much more than a groan as you were harshly ripped from your slumber.
If you had somehow not yet come to the conclusion that last night had been a bad idea, then the sudden flare of pain in your head at the bright intrusion was all the proof you needed. That, and the sudden churning in your stomach.Â
You would never let Benedict or Eloise coax you into drinking with them again.Â
You had not realised, despite how the idiom went, that what went up was sure to come down again - and you had come crashing down.Â
Hard.
âIf youâre ready to dress, my lady, then breakfast will be served shortly,â your maid chirped, a dress already picked out for you to wear. She either couldn't detect your fragile state, or didn't seem to care as she continued speaking at a painfully loud volume. âMy Lord sent me to wake you as he is finishing business in the study. He was up frightfully early, I could scarce believe it went the housemaids told me theyâd already found him awake when they went to start the fires this morning. Gave young Samantha a right fright he did, scribbling away at his desk.âÂ
âOh?â you croaked.Â
You hadnât even noticed the empty space in the bed bedside you until then.Â
Clearly Anthony had risen early, if heâd even gone to sleep at all. Why were you not surprised? Your husband was perpetually in motion, always claiming there was something or someone that needed his urgent attention as the head of the Bridgerton clan. It was just one of the things that made you love him so much.
âIs he still there?â
âYes, Maâam,â the young girl continued, breezing about your room. âAnd thatâs not the only strange incident this morning. It will tickle you rotten when I tell you the latest drama, but you see, Mrs Reynolds was ranting and raving about how she swore she had made three trays of fruit tarts last night, yet this morning, there were only two. The youngest kitchen maid, Betsy, is convinced it must be a ghost but my money is on Carter - the groomâs boy - heâs always snooping about the kitchen...âÂ
You winced. Ah. Maybe you hadn't been as stealthy last night as youâd hoped after all...
With as much enthusiasm as you could muster, you began to peel yourself from the mattress, trying to appear as if you were listening to your maidâs theories as she dressed you for the day. It then took all your resolve to make it downstairs and to the breakfast table without tripping over your own feet, or emptying the non-existent contents of your stomach.Â
To your relief, only Eloise and Benedict had so far taken a seat at the breakfast table - and both looked about as miserable as you felt. Â
âGood morning,â you mumbled, taking your usual chair next to the head of the table. You were quick to accept the steaming cup of coffee Benedict handed you, shooting him a thankful look. âDare I ask how we feel?âÂ
âI think better than you and my dear sister here,â Benedict chirped, gesturing at a miserable looking Eloise. She had her head in her hands and was desperately trying to look at the plate of food in front of her with something other than repulsion. âThen again, I must admit I am somewhat more experienced in the art of late-night mischief than you both. I also did not have to deal with my brother before going to bed - thank you, again, for that noble sacrifice.â
âYour welcome,â you chuckled, a faint heat rising in your cheeks as you remembered the exact events after you and Anthony had gone to bed. âI just feel bad that you both got left to clean up the mess.âÂ
âDonât be. I think we got it all.â
âYou say that but I canât remember anything after you started singing in French,â Eloise groaned, massaging her forehead once more. âI have the oddest feeling we may have forgotten something.â
You paused. You could only hope for your sake she was wrong.Â
However, you were saved from such discussion by the arrival of the rest of the Bridgerton bunch. All conversation about your night-time escapades were quickly forgotten as Colin, Hyacinth and Gregory entered the room, bickering about something you couldnât quite make out. They were swiftly followed by Violet and Francesca, who both looked unfairly cheerful for so early in the morning.Â
You could only wish to look so fresh and composed before your first cup of whatever caffeinated beverage you could get your hands on.Â
Then, finally, came your husband. Entering the room last, he turned and shot you a warm smile. Clearly, your shenanigans had been forgotten - for now - replaced instead by the memory of your other activities, much to the relief of you and your co-conspirators.Â
In fact, you swore you saw Eloise exhale a breath of relief when Anthony didn't immediately launch into one of his lectures. Instead, he chose to join the rest of his family in helping himself to the awaiting breakfast spread, laid out on the sideboard for them, listening to some ongoing debate between his mother and youngest brother.Â
â-but you said we could visit the park this afternoon.â
âI know, sweetheart, but I have to take Francesca and Eloise for their final fittings at the modiste. We shouldnât be too long, and we can go after? Unless, perhaps your brothers will take you. Colin? Benedict? Anthony?â
Benedict looked physically pained at the idea of an afternoon at the park, what with his current delicate constitution and all. You honestly couldn't blame him. âWell, I uh - have a drawing class, this afternoon. Very last minute. Sorry.âÂ
âAnd I... um, have a meeting at the club?â Colin stammered hastily. âAnthony?âÂ
âPlease, Anthony?â Gregory begged, all but pouting at his older brother as the pair made their way to the table. âI promise Iâll do all my lessons this week without complaining if you say yes. Iâll even let you have my pudding tonight.â
âAs you asked so nicely, brother, I donât see how an hour or so at the park could do any harm -â Anthony began, pulling out the chair next to you and lowering himself onto the seat in a moment that felt like it lasted forever as a horrifying sensation swept over you.Â
You remembered what youâd forgotten.Â
The chair.
âAnthony, wait-!â
The sudden crash was startling, as was the sight of your husband being sent flying backwards as the chair collapsed beneath him.Â
No one moved.Â
No one said a word.Â
Benedict looked across at you and Eloise, the horror clear in his eyes as he choked the word you felt on the tip of your tongue: âRun!â

Warnings: Accusation of Infedelity, heavily unedited writing (wrote this in a power outage in my notes app xx), fingering, eating pussy, dirty talk, dumbification if you squint REALLY hard.
One message is all it took for you to spiral.
Outrage was an understatement. A month, a single month, into Priceâs deployment you had recieved a message from an unknown number. They insisted of Price having an affair with his so-called âreceptionist.â Being his wife, you didnt believe it. You and John had been married for years now. He wasnt that kind of man! (You hoped.)
Weeks passed and wheels start turning. Seeds of doubt had started digging into you. The late nights he had stayed at base before his deployment, only sending as much as a quick text of âBe home late. Dont wait up.â Or the necessary secrecy between what happens at his job or deployment were starting to plant ideas in your head you wouldnt have ever had if not for that message. Youre being worn down, and its killing you. Its not like you could ask him; being thousands of kilometres away without any time to do as much as glance at his phone.
So the emotional resentment grew. You find yourself wondering how he could do this to you, crying in your empty home that housed the both of you not long ago. Before you even come to terms with it, Youve packed your bags and lawyered up, letting your resentment fester for far to long without any outside input.
On the third month of Prices deployment, you drive yourself up to base with one intention; leave the divorce papers on his desk to find when he comes back and to leave without confrontation.
Security on base knows you as âPriceâs missusâ by now, offering a small wave and a smile as you walk by and into your husbands office. You put the papers on his desk, that frustration and hurt bubbling up all over again. He has your wedding photo framed on his desk and it only hurts more. What did you do to deserve this?
You turn to go, heading back towards his door when you hear muffled laughter and the sounds of gear being unzipped and dumped from down the hallway. Theyre back. You pick up the pace, praying you can slip out before he gets close enough to notice. You reach for the door handle, but the door opens before you can even grasp it.
Shit.
And there he is, your eyes drinking in the sight of the awfully more rugged version of your husband; beard outgrown and messy with tired eyes that light up at the sight of you.
That light dies as soon as sees just how mad you look.
âSo youre telling me, one message is all it took to lose all fucking faith?â Price practically growls, fingers rubbing at his temples. Hes sat in his chair with you on the other side of his desk, just as furious. âEverything makes sense! The staying late at base, the short messages and lack of updates when your deployed!â You hiss, frustration bubbling over making anything small seem huge.
Price takes a deep breath, a futile attempt to calm his temper. âThe shit I deal with doesnt sleep. Theres reasons i stay back that you will never know, love. The law itself, wont let me tell you. Same goes for messages. Im sorry i dont have the time to let you know im okay when im deployed, god knows i wish I did.â He scowls, his gaze so heated and intense that you almost look away despite your own fury.
âAnd what about this receptionist huh?â
Your tone has changed, soft and shaky. vunerable.
Priceâs expression softens, but he doesnt say a word, simply rounding his desk to pluck you out of your own chair and putting you down in his office chair. He sinks to his knees in front of you, hands rested on your thighs. Blue eyes peer up at you, sickeningly sincere. âLove, I dont interact with her unless necessary. This isnt some romance movie bullshit.â Your heart is working overtime, lips parted as guilt bubbles. âYou- you understand where my doubt is coming from, thoughâŠright? Everything lined up perfectly, and-â
Price simply tuts. âWeâve talked about that pretty little head of yours overthinking too much, havent we?â You freeze, throat drying. You nod. âAnswer me, sweetheart.â
âYes-â you croak. âWe have.â
Price grunts in approval, his hands now running up and down your thighs.
âHave you been feeling neglected, hm? Is that it? My sweet wife needs some attention?â Price rumbles, his large, calloused hands that have been marked by countless battles now playing with the hem of your skirt.
âYouâve got my attention now, luvie. No need to play these stupid games with me.â
Your mind is already growing hazy; your husbands words making you almost want to forget about this whole incident. A finger hooks onto the waistband of your panties, bringing you back to the moment.
âStupid games? John i was prepared to divorce you-â he shushes you, dragging your underwear down your thighs, then your calves and over your shoes before slipping them into his pocket. A cheeky smile graces his face. stupid muttonchops.
âMustâve left you alone for far too long then, if you were willing to take it this far.â
He slings your legs over his impossibly large shoulders, making you squeak as your pulled forward on the chair.
âWouldve come home and fucked those stupid thoughts straight out of your head if i had known you were having doubts about my loyalty, sweetheart.â
He presses a messy kiss to your clit, making you gasp. He grumbles something incoherent (âMe? Cheat? Silly girl.â), before licking a long stripe up your neglected cunt, causing your hips to buck. The taste of you after going months without has price groaning into your heat. He eats like a man starved, a mix of desire to prove his loyalty and that he finally gets to taste his wife after being away for so long.
Hes fuming, really. Toward you? No.
Towards whatever stupid bastard sent you that message. Heâs glad you didnt notice him slip your phone in his pocket, because he knew youâd be against him hunting the fucker down. You just need a distraction to keep that pretty little head thinking too hard. And heâll give you just that.
âOh, my poor sweet wifeâŠâ He grunts, before sucking on your clit with a renewed fevor. He pulls off with a lewd pop, two thick fingers replacing his previous ministrations. Youâre squirming in his office chair, mind hazy and hips bucking.
âThinkinâ I was out here cheating on yaâ⊠you know better, love.â He tuts.
His fingers curl so nicely into that spongey spot that makes you see stars. âM sorry-â youâd slur, âI didnt believe it when I first saw the message I promise-â you gasp as price presses his thumb against your clit, rubbing in small tight circles.
âLovie, you stormed in here with divorce papers. Dont tell me you didnât believe it.â
Your head tilts back as you pant, small gasps slipping past your lips.
âThere we go.â Price coaxes, his fingers picking up their pace.
âWouldnt even cross my mind to look at another woman when my gorgeous girl looks like that as I stuff her cunt full of my fingers.â He coos, watching your face intently as your release crashes down; intense enough to make you writhe and moan.
Price pulls his fingers from you, licking them clean before getting up off his knees. Your throat runs dry, bracing for whats to come even as you grapple your bearings. Youâre mentally preparing for Price to be dissapointed, upset with you, maybe even mad.
He analyzes your expression, leaning back against his desk. His eyes scrape over your small form sat in his chair.
âIm not upset, love. That pretty little head of yours had months to overthink that message without a voice of reason.â
Price tilts your chin up.
âLets just not have to do this again, hm? Then iâll be mad.â
Its sounds like a threat, but it isnt. Price knows heâll always be there to talk his beloved wife down from the edge.

Woo! Iâve finally got time to write! Had to go to a wedding, suffered through eight whole hours of pure disorganized mess, and got mad about it. Emphasis on the disorganized part. So, I bring you: party planner!Danny Phantom.
ââ
If anyone was to see him now, theyâd definitely think that it was odd that Danny was the one in the party planning field. They wouldnât be surprised if it was Jazz, but Danny âwing itâ Fenton planning things? Never.
But here he was, clipboard in hand and checking off hors dâĆuvres from the list.
âAnton, could you do a check of the sound system? Make sure everythingâs working?â
âGot it.â
Danny lifted the buffet table, laden with heavy food, and used a bit of his ghostly strength to move it over.
âPerfect.â
He double checked the seating chart, and readjusted the miniature ice sculpture centerpieces he made for the party.
Wayne Manor was all lit up and perfectly dusted. Danny ran through his mental checklist. Tabled? Check. Dance floor clean and scuff free? Check. DJ booth and open bar running without issues? Check. Live band setting up with back up instruments and strings? Check. Decorations on point? Oh, heâll have to get the team to readjust those.
Time to check-
âDanny! Howâs it going?â Bruce Wayne beamed and slung an arm around his shoulder.
Danny smiled politely. âMr. Wayne. Everything is going smoothly. Would you like to check the food the chefs have made?â
âSure, sure! I definitely need to eat before I drink, haha!â
âThatâs a good idea! Good thing youâre about to try a bunch of food.â Danny matched the billionaireâs energy. Heâs going to get paid so good.
âSo, Danny, are you going to college?â
Danny passed him a small sampler. âAh, I canât. Some stuff happened in high school and I donât really have the grades or the money to.â
Plus, his credentials were in another plane of existence and he hadnât figured out how to transfer those records yet.
âYou could still attend college, Iâm sure! Your parents might be able to help pay?â Bruce nommed on the food. He gave a thumbs up.
Danny sighed. âItâs not always an option. Plus, my parents are dead.â
In this universe. His own? Alive and kicking GIW ass.
âOh, I see-â
âFather.â
âWoah!â Danny blinked, looking down at the baby Wayne the popped up next to his fatherâs elbow.
âDamian! Whatâs wrong, kiddo?â
Damian shot his father a flat glare and dragged the laughing billionaire away.
Danny snorted and returned to his tasks. He has to check the speeches and the lighting. Hm⊠he doesnât have time to adjust everything how he wants it.
Good thing he knew a guy that could stop time.
âHey, Clockwork?â
ââ
âFather, I understand your inclination towards adopting poor black haired and blue eyed orphans, but I would like to remind you that I have far too many siblings to be adding yet another bumbling buffoon.â
âI was not considering that, Damian.â
Damian let go of his wrist with a grimace. âDenial is not becoming of a Wayne, Father.â
âYeah, B. I could see you grab the adoption papers from all the way over here.â Tim adjusted his tie. âAnyways, Dick is on his way. Heâs running a little late because of some stuff in BlĂŒdhaven.â
âThank you, Tim.â
ââ
âBatman.â
âOracle.â
âLook at the footage of Wayne manor.â Oracle pulled up the video surveillance scattered through out the manor. Specifically, the ones of the west ballroom. Daniel Fenton stood in his spot, looking down at his clipboard but a second later, he's moved three inches to the left and the decorations had subtly been moved more aesthetic spots. "I think Danny might be a meta. We'll have to look into him."
Batman stood up, allowing the fondness he had for Danny as Bruce Wayne drain away. This is a potential threat, and Batman will treat him like one. (Danny will remember this.)
"Contact Flash. I need him to scan for any temporal disturbance."
"Understood."
ââ
"Brucie!" A socialite squealed as she came to bestow hugs upon a long suffering Bruce. "My god, this place is gorgeous! You must give me your planner's number. I could absolutely use some fresh eyes for the Annual Spring Party."
"Awe, Janine! I gotta keep some of the good things to myself!" Bruce whined, inwardly smirking as he saw his kids mock-gagging behind the lady's back. "What if your party's cooler than mine? What should I do then? You're already so gorgeous! Why, is that a Birkin?"
Janine lit up and all but forgot about getting Danny's contact information. Bruce patted his own back for a job well done, even if he had to listen to Janine's itemized list of random luxury goods she had to buy before being offered a bag.
He's a Wayne. The Gotham Hermes wished they could partner with the Waynes. Plus, he's pretty sure he's got at least three of those bags somewhere in the manor to bait out Selina.
Catching Danny sliding in between the servers and going towards the kitchen, Bruce quickly excused himself with a disarming himbo grin.
Time to subtly grill the kid.
ââ
"Hey, Timmy?"
"Hello, Dick," Tim smiled elegantly at the couple who's companies he was about to bring six feet underground and excused himself. "What's up?"
"Have you noticed that the ice sculptures haven't melted at all?"
Tim blinked, eyes sliding over to a harried Danny being followed by Bruce on a mission. Oof.
"Freeze?" He asked mildly, face innocent of any nefarious thoughts.
"That's what I'm thinking." Dick smiled sunnily, throwing an arm around Tim's shoulders.
"Heard the guy's living out near Crime Alley. We should get Jay to check it out." Tim pretended to laugh, grinning as his brains made plans for a stakeout.
"Heard, my ass. You totally stalked him, didn't you?"
"Got proof?"
Dick snorted, removing his arm. "Nope. I'll let Jay know. You should probably help Danny out, though, he looks like he's about to lose his temper."
"Bruce is at it again." Tim sighed. "Yeah, okay."

You werenât sure how much time passed with Buckyâs head resting in your lap, your fingers absentmindedly moving through his hair. While his body relaxed, you remained rigid. You tried to think of positive things. Your upcoming trip to the winery, Addisonâs wedding. The images in your mind darkened though as if a cloud loomed over them. In a way, it did because you didnât know what Bucky had planned for those events. Because even if Bucky really let you go to the winery alone, someone would be watching.
You forced the cloud in your mind to lift. Things could still be positive. You could still have a good day and have the best time with your friends.
âIâm sorry, but I have to get back to work,â you whispered.
âOf course,â he whispered back, pressing a kiss to your thigh and lifting his head with a smile. The darkness had left his eyes. How long until it returned? âThank you for calming me down.â
âOf course,â you echoed because what else could you do?
Brushing his pants off once he got to his feet, he helped you up and didnât let go of your hand. You didnât attempt to pull away. He made sure to grab the money you left on the table before he paid the server and you tried to give the poor guy a smile when you thanked him. You just wanted to get on with your day.
As Bucky led you out of the cafe and back to the shop, you caught Rayâs gaze as he stood by the car and waited for his boss. Whatever concern he showed for you faded when he blinked. How did he deal with this life? Would he ever walk away from it?
âIâll pick you up after work then?â Bucky asked.
âSure,â you said. You didnât tell him when your shift ended, but he knew, didnât he? âThanks for lunch.â
âIt was my pleasure, but one more thing.â Bucky stopped you before you could enter the shop. âThis regular customer you mentioned earlier. How often does he stop in?â
He asked as if he had no idea and maybe he didnât in this case. That assumption didnât ease your worries. âOnce a month,â you said, your stomach turning slightly. âListen, the roses he tried to give to me, I gave them to him first. They were his usual order and I thought it would be nice gesture and I was just-â
His brows pinched a little as his hands gently framed your cheeks. âKotyonok, why do you sound so upset?â He asked, his thumbs moving in a soothing motion as you took a deep breath. âWait, are you scared that Iâd be mad at you?â
âI⊠I donât know,â you said. You didnât necessarily think heâd be upset with you, but after his mood swings at lunch and everything else so far you weren't sure what to expect. âI just don't know.â
âNo, no, no, Iâm not mad at you. Why would I be mad that you were kind to another person? Thatâs one of the things I love about you. It drew me to you,â he assured you. You oddly felt better by his assurance. âI donât want you to stop doing kind things for others because youâre worried it might upset me.â
âSo, it doesnât upset you?â
âYou being you would never upset me,â he smiled. He had said more than once that he loved you as a person, so maybe he was telling the truth. âA man trying to give flowers to you while going through a break-up is, at the very least, a little strange.â
âYeah, I guess so,â you said, not wanting to admit that he had a point and that you were slightly put off when Clark tried to give the roses to you.
âIâm also well aware that you donât hit on any guy who comes into your shop, so I wouldnât view any act of kindness to a customer as trying to get their attention.â
âThatâs true,â you agreed. Even Ray had pointed out to you that you didnât give guys in the shop the time of day. Why would you when most of them were buying flowers for someone else? âBut I just wanted you to know.â
âI appreciate you telling me, but you have nothing to worry about. Just have a good rest of the day.â With a kiss to the corner of your mouth, he whispered, âIâll be thinking of you until I see you again.â
You werenât sure why your heart fluttered. Relief that Bucky reacted calmly to what you said? You didnât dwell on it as he held the door open and smiled after you as you went back into the shop. It was time to concentrate on work again.
Mrs. Crandle smiled and waved to Bucky through the door. âOh, he is a looker,â she winked. âHow was lunch, dear?â
âThe food was good and Bucky and I got to talk a bit, which was⊠nice,â you answered, glancing around the shop and wondering if the place was bugged, too. Could he get access to the shop? Letting you continue to work seemed too good to be true, but heâd have nothing to worry about if he had eyes and ears there, too. âHeâs taking me shopping tonight.â
She clapped her hands. âOh, thatâs wonderful! And donât you dare be modest. Let him spoil you.â
âI have a feeling heâll spoil me even if I don't ask him to,â you said.
Your whole experience with Bucky was whether you wanted it or not, so why would he stop now?
As expected, Bucky arrived back at the shop a few hours later to pick you up. Instead of giving him the chance to go inside and speak to Mrs. Crandle again, you grabbed your bag and rushed out the door to greet him. He caught you easily when you nearly collided with him, and for the first time, you felt like you were intruding in his space instead of the other way around.
âEager to see me?â He smiled, his voice teasing as he kept a hand on your shoulder and helped you into the vehicle when you didnât immediately answer. âHow was the rest of your shift? I hope no one else bothered you.â
Just you.
âIt was uneventful. I got a lot done,â you replied, feeling a warmth spread through you from the normalcy of your afternoon. âAnd no one bothered me.â Your gaze flickered to him and he was hanging onto your every word. He also looked much more relaxed, like the moodiness at lunch never happened. âHow about you? How was your day?â
âAlso uneventful. A couple of boring calls. Kept thinking about you though and it got me through the day,â he said, slipping an arm around you as the car door closed. The way you two were speaking to each other sounded almost normal. Checking in on each other, seeing how the other was doing. âSteve asked about that double date.â
âIâm sure heâs excited for that,â you said, wondering if that poor coat check girl had any idea.
âWe both are. You can find a dress for that, too,â he smiled fondly. âIn fact, what would you think of me getting you a new wardrobe when you move in? Your style, your choice on everything. You name it.â
You raised an eyebrow, a mixture of surprise and uncertainty washing over you. âIs there something wrong with my current wardrobe?â You hadnât done anything to deserve a whole new set of clothes and you hoped he wasnât suggesting it to mold you more to his liking.
âNothing wrong with it at all. You have great taste and I just want to spoil you,â he said, running a finger down your side. This was the man who let you go into his exclusive club wearing a dressed down outfit simply because it was you, so heâd probably let you get away with any sort of wardrobe you wanted. âDo you know how ravishing you look right now?â
âIâm not ravishing. Iâm in my work clothes,â you muttered.
âYou are ravishing,â he said, moving his finger back up as you shivered. âWe should get some stargazer lilies for your first night in our home. I could strip you down, lay you out on our bed, and brush one of the petals along your skin.â
You inhaled sharply and closed your eyes, trying not to picture him spreading you out on a luxurious bed. He would say something like that when he was right in your space and you had nowhere to go. The man went from zero to sixty in seconds. No doubt he could feel you tremble and knew your heart was racing.
âBet itâll feel soft against your nipples,â he whispered, exhaling against your ear. âAnd your pussy.â
Your next breath was shallow, but you managed not to whimper. âWhere are we going shopping?â You asked evenly, hoping to get to the destination sooner rather than later.
You stubbornly kept your eyes shut when he chuckled. âYouâre changing the topic because youâre thinking about it, arenât you? Worried youâll get your panties soaked before we get to the shop?â He questioned, your heart thudding. You didnât want to think about it at all. You wanted out of the car so you could properly breathe again. âIâm sorry. Iâm not playing nice, am I? Weâre going to one of your favorite stores and you can pick out whatever you want.â
Youâd no doubt look at the price tags out of habit since you shopped on a budget and bought your nicer pieces on sale. âDo you ever really play nice?â You asked, opening your eyes. âOne moment youâre being vulnerable and talking about your family and the next time I see you youâre talking about sleeping with me. Iâm shocked the whiplash hasnât scrambled my brain.â
The image of him destroying the utensil at lunch like it was nothing flashed in your mind for some reason. And him and his gang beating up John. Just how strong was he? Was he a killer?
âSometimes weâll talk about something tough or serious and the next it may be something more fun or intimate. Thatâs part of being in a relationship,â he said. If only it were an authentic relationship. âI want that with you, telling you whatâs on my mind and how I feel.â
If he cared about what was on your mind or how you felt, heâd back off and let you have a bit of space. âRelationships are built on mutual respect and trust,â you said. Did he not see that the mutual respect wasn't there since he pushed for things to be his way? And trust was something he couldn't force no matter how powerful he was.
âI understand that. You also said a first date was getting to know each other and seeing if there's a mutual connection. I'm opening up to you, letting you get to know me. Iâm getting to know you, too, beyond the things I knew in advance,â he said. What was he learning about you that he didnât already know? âAnd you can't tell me you don't feel something for me.â
âDo you want me to tell you what you want to hear, Bucky? That I want you and want to be with you?â You asked. Even if you did develop feelings for him, it would have to be classified as some form of stockholm syndrome. And even then, strong feelings wouldnât be enough. He wanted everything from you. âThat I donât want anyone else?â
The hand along your side crept up to your neck, tension heightening when he gently squeezed. He loved putting his hand around your throat. âYou do want me, you do want to be with me, youâll never want anyone else once I have you and I know you love how much I want you,â he spoke with confidence, like he could make the words come true as you took your next breath. âShould I check your panties before we go inside and feel how wet they are?â
You needed to distract him. Fight him. Do something. âWhatâs your love language?â You blurted out. âPhysical Touch?â
âWhat?â He whispered, your heart still pounding when he slowly moved his hand away from your throat.
âYour love language. You constantly touch me when Iâm close to you, so I guessed Physical Touch,â you explained. He always had a hand on you.
He sat back with a pensive look. âNo one has ever asked me that.â
âOh,â you said as the car rolled to a stop. You blindly reached for the door handle. âWell, itâs something to think about if you donât know.â
He held your arm when you tried to get out. âYou express yourself through Acts of Service with loving gestures and helping with tasks, but what you crave is Quality Time because you value meaningful interactions and connecting with people on a more personal level.â
You nodded slowly. It was why you loved hanging out with your girlfriends. You cherished making memories with them.
âYou also appreciate Words of Affirmation, even if compliments make you feel uncertain because you sometimes feel overlooked. The combination of those languages makes you feel seen and heard,â he continued, giving you a tender smile. âI can hear and see you if you let me.â
You found yourself unable to speak as he gauged your reaction, your throat tight as if gripped by an unseen force. He nailed it right on the head about your love languages, didn't he? âI need air,â you whispered, letting yourself out of the car once he let you go.
The tightness in your throat moved to your heart. Bucky saw and heard you in his own way, didn't he? Not just as a passing thought but because he genuinely believed he loved you, deeply and wholeheartedly. The more he sank his fangs in, the more venom he injected. You had to be your own antidote.
With a shake of your head, you glanced up at the shop. True to his word, it was one you loved. Another piece of yourself that would now be tied to him.
You jumped when Bucky appeared beside you and took your arm. âYou okay?â He asked, studying your face with gentle eyes.
âJust fine,â you replied, smiling for his sake. âLet's go shopping.â
You walked into the boutique together, the air filled with a subtle mix of lavender and something sweet that made you feel right at home. The space was a blend of trendy and rustic, exuding charm and intimacy. Clothes lined the wooden shelves and vintage racks, showcasing a variety of styles that ranged from casual to bold. Delicate accessories sparkled in the soft light, inviting you to explore.
You could easily find the perfect dress for the winery here.
âHello! Welcome to⊠Oh! Mr. Barnes,â the associate smiled, her heels clicking on the floor. She was a picture perfect example of style and beauty. âI have the back dressing room set up and Iâll be sure no one disturbs you or your girlfriend. It was sundresses you requested, correct?â
Bucky looked proud of himself. âYes, the perfect sundress for my girl,â he smiled, his blue eyes sparkling as he looked at you. âAnd whatever dress you choose, youâll need jewelry. Oh, and a clutch.â
âGirlfriend?â You asked. He must not have wanted a repeat of how the hostess treated the two of you at lunch. âWait, you already have dresses selected for me to try on?â
âHe called and gave us all the details. And weâll make sure you have everything you need,â the associate promised as Bucky nudged you ahead of him to follow her. Was anyone else in the shop? âWould either of you like a water?â
âNo thank you,â you said. You were never offered a water when you shopped there before, but you were never there with Bucky Barnes.
âJust let me know if you need anything at all,â she smiled, opening the dressing room door.
Bucky thanked her as he took a seat in one of the chairs across from the door, watching you expectantly. âIf you don't like any of them, we can go somewhere else.â
âIâm sure they're fine,â you said, going into the room and shutting the door before he could say anything else.
Quickly slipping off your shoes, pants, and top, you turned your attention to a small rack with a range of sundresses. Checking each tag as you pushed through them, none of them on sale, it wasn't a surprise that they were all your size. And all something you'd consider wearing. After flipping through the dresses twice, you decided to try on a sleeveless white dress with small rosebuds. It would be nice for a vineyard.
Before you could put the dress on, the door opened. âNeed any help?â Bucky asked as you spun around in your bra and underwear, his eyes slowly scanning your body before you had a chance to cover yourself.
âNo. IâŠâ you trailed off as he stepped inside and shut the door behind him.
He stared at you for what felt like an eternity before he breathed your name, want written all over his face. The dressing room felt small. Hot. You could hardly breathe as panic threatened to overwhelm you. And you couldn't do anything but step back as he stepped closer, a predator ready to capture his prey.
Your back hit the mirror when he brought a hand to your chin, your knees shaking as he leaned in. âYouâre right about one thing,â he said in a husky tone. âI do crave Physical Touch. Yours.â
He pressed his lips to yours, keeping you still and giving you no chance to turn your head away. It was a light, feathering sort of kiss before his tongue flicked out to trace your lips. He teased you until you opened up for him and allowed his tongue to sweep into your mouth. You couldn't think as he groaned and continued his claim. It was only a matter of time until he claimed you completely.
Bucky pulled away a little, his free hand moving down your torso in a possessive path. âFuck, you taste so sweet,â he rasped. You felt so small, your insides both frozen and melting from his touch. âJust wanna take you home and make you ride my face before I fuck you.â
You gasped when his knee moved between your legs, your hands flying up to hold his arms. He rocked his leg and you felt power in the motion, a promise of what was to come once he had you where he wanted you. âBucky,â you whispered. The next word out of your mouth was smothered by his lips, but he didn't increase the urgency in his kisses. He took his time. Like the world could be burning around you and heâd let the flames take over as long as he was kissing you.
You bit back a whimper when he rocked his knee harder, the friction sending heat to your core. Another roll of his body and you were certain you felt the outline of his cock. Bringing a hand to his chest, you lightly pushed. It was already going too far. To your surprise, he broke the kiss. His eyes were still hungry though. âYou said you want to hear me?â You asked breathlessly, your lip trembling when his thumb brushed it. âThen not here, please,â you whispered, praying he'd stop.
If he was going to have you, it wouldn't be in a dressing room.
âRight. Not for our first time.â He tipped his head back as he took a breath, no doubt trying to control himself. âJust one more kiss, Kotyonok. One more for me to dream about tonight,â he groaned, bringing his face back to yours for one more kiss with fervor. Just when you thought it would turn more ravenous, he shifted to something soft, tender. A feeling that had both of you shaking when it ended, but likely for different reasons.
You stayed upright when he stepped back and gave you space, but your legs still shook as he straightened up his clothes and looked you over once more. If he could devour you with a look... âThank you.â He actually listened to you and didn't push it any further.
He glanced down as he adjusted his pants and you tried to avoid looking at the tent he began to sport. Horror filled you when your gaze went lower to the wet spot by his knee. He hadn't gotten you off, but you both knew he sparked some arousal within you. âCanât wait âtil you really make a mess on my pants,â he smirked, walking out just as quietly as he entered the tiny room.
Fighting back tears once he shut the door, you touched your lips. Bucky finally kissed you. Your mouth still tingled. You still felt him there.
Glancing at the rack of dresses, you wished he really was a sweet boyfriend trying to spoil you just because he could. But he hadn't given you a chance to pick them out yourself. He spoke for you, like you were a doll. It was just another piece he put in place for his twisted puzzle of your relationship.
What was wrong with you?
You pulled your clothes back on and flung the door open so hard it almost hit the wall. Buckyâs smug look immediately changed to concern when you walked out holding a sundress. âThis one's fine,â you said in a flat tone.
âAre you sure?â He asked, sitting up more in his chair. âYou didn't try it on, did you?â
âItâs the one I want,â you said, calling for the associate before Bucky had a chance to argue. You gave her a stiff smile when she joined you and handed over the garment, feeling Buckyâs eyes on you. âWhatever jewelry and handbag you think will go with this, Iâll take it. I trust your judgment.â
âOh, this dress is lovely and we have the perfect accessories for this. Would you like to look at shoes as well? Or maybe something to go with any of the other dresses?â She asked, her eyes wide as you brushed past her. âMiss?â
âIâm sorry. I need to step outside,â you said, not wanting to be rude to her.
Bucky called after you, but you ignored him. You were furious with yourself. You let him kiss you and allowed some of his words to get under your skin. He didn't fuck you, but he still won, didn't he? And you were letting him. Just like with everything else.
You took two steps out of the shop before you felt a grip on your arm. âWoah. Slow down,â Bucky said, turning you to face him. âWhatâs wrong?â
Everything.
âIt doesn't matter, but if you really want to see and hear me, please, pay attention,â you said, yanking your arm away. âI want to go home.â
âWhy? Is it because that kiss meant something to you and you don't want to admit it?â He asked, a soft smile tugging at his lips. âIf you're embarrassed that it made you wet, don't be. I'm flattered. Besides, it got me hard.â
Heat filled your cheeks and you wanted to smack him. There was a fine line between the delusion he had in his head and the reality of the situation. The tightrope you were walking was close to snapping. âIâm not embarrassed. I can't breathe.â You stepped back, trying to give yourself space. Was Ray watching from the car? âEverything in my life recently has revolved around you or you being there. Say what you want about me being lonely, it doesn't give you an excuse to take over.â
Buckyâs smile slipped, like he was really seeing how bothered you were. âI told you I just want to love you. And you enjoy Quality Time.â
âQuality Time when we agree upon it. And love itself should be the thing to take my breath away, not you smothering me,â you gently stated.
âIâm not trying to smother you.â He shifted like he was the one uncomfortable, his gaze flicking to the ground. âI⊠I know you can't breathe,â he said, lifting a hand as if to reach out before he dropped it and took a deep breath. âThatâs why I'm leaving you alone tomorrow,â he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
âYou're what?â You asked in disbelief, catching the hint of vulnerability in his eyes as his shoulders dropped. He hadn't left you alone since he broke in. Why in the world would he stop now?
âI was going to bring it up when I dropped you off.â His hand worked its way through his hair. âIâve been thinking about it and talking and⊠Iâm smothering you. I know I am. Rearranging your schedule, making you meet my friends, and everything else. SoâŠâ He reached for you this time and took your hand. âIâm giving you a breather and Iâm not going to be around tomorrow. No surprise visits. No calls. Maybe a text, but nothing more.â
You blinked. âSo, we won't see each other tomorrow?â You tried not to get too excited. It was only a day, but between that and the girls day that was still something. You had to go the cautiously optimistic route again and take what you got.
But you also couldn't help but wonder why he was really giving you that space. Did Ray or someone say something to him? Was this another ploy to keep you in line?
âYou won't see me. God knows Iâll miss you, but it's just a day, right?â He squeezed your hand. âMaybe youâll miss me, too.â
âI appreciate you giving me that space,â you said sincerely. He needed that space, too, even if he didn't believe it. âAnd maybe I will.â
âWe won't have to miss each other much longer once we're together in the penthouse,â he said, his tone soft and your heart sinking. âWill you answer one thing: Did that kiss mean something to you?â
You didn't want to answer that. If you denied it, it would be a lie or heâd either see through it or snap. If you confirmed it, it would feed him more hope. You still had to examine your feelings because you were afraid and you couldn't think with him staring at you with those longing eyes.
âIt meant something,â you answered, not expanding on what exactly it meant when he exhaled. It wasn't smart to let him decipher it how he wished because he could use it against you later.
He took your breath away once more when he pulled you close and brushed his lips against yours. Just as quickly as he started, he stopped and brushed his nose against yours. Any passerby would think it was a sweet moment between a couple making up from an argument. âThank you,â he whispered, his thumb moving along the racing pulse in your wrist. âCome back inside, please? Pick out a few things for real and then Iâll take you home so you can relax.â
You remembered that the bugs were still in your apartment, which took some more of your enthusiasm away. But if Bucky was really going to leave you alone tomorrow, youâd have to appreciate the time to yourself. Maybe you could pack a bag and get out of the city even sooner than planned.
It wouldn't hurt to try, right? What was the worst that could happen? Making him freak out over your safety? That could be bad.
âOkay. A few things for real and then home,â you agreed.
âThatâs my girl.â He turned and paused at the door with a smile. âCan I at least help you try on the dress? Or you can model it for me and I'll tell you how beautiful you are.â
You smiled back a little. âDon't push your luck,â you said, missing the pair of blue eyes that watched you and Bucky go back into the shop.
So, a little bit of action. đ Will it be enough to tide Bucky over? Is he really going to leave you alone for a day? Who was watching you? Love and thanks for reading! â€ïž

Glitterbombs for rogues
A/N: I got sick over the holidays. So I did not do any of the writing I originally wanted to do. So instead of that Christmas Story you get this Mark Rober inspired little tidbit.
Tim had a new favorite Engineer Youtube. The boy was a bit younger than him but a genius Engineer judging by the hand full of videos Tim had marathoned through. According to the listed self-introduction part of the video, Danny was currently an engineering student in Gotham with the goal to work one day for NASA. (Tim held out some hopes that he maybe could snag the kid for WE if possible. He had already sent out an internship offer after the third video he had watched)
Either way, Danny had potential and ideas that borderlined on mad science. But made his videos of his little projects even more entertaining and interesting to watch. Tim's favorite so far was Danny's explanation on how he reconstructed his toaster so that it would launch itself into space after the third his roommate burned toast with it. He did buy his roommate a new toaster at the end of the video though.
Still Tim liked this guy and his videos. So with anticipation he clicked on one of the newer videos. The title having caught his attention: 'Why Glitter'.
Instead of the usual introduction bit with little highlights of Danny's previous project the video started out with a big fat warning in red letter to not attempt to replicate anything in the video. That had Tim very curious already, but then a little video clip following that had Tim spitting out the coffee he was just sipping from.
Thankfully he missed spitting on his phone, still he jumped out of his cozy bed where he had been watching YouTube on his phone and hurried over to his laptop. The video, meanwhile, was continuing playing. He could hear the usual music from the introduction part as well as Danny's voice explaining his reasosn -which were valid, Tim had to agree with some of them- once that part was done.
By now he had fired up his laptop and was researching. The video in the background was explaining how Danny had build his Glitterbombs similar to the once another youtuber had but slightly modified them since he was not going to use fart-spray. Tim eyes widened as he found the first correlating news articles, wondering how they hadn't seen them sooner, but a glance at the date revealed that they were only posted a couple of hours ago.
Danny in the video was no explaining about his fist chooses victim and Tim dived onto his bed from his desk to get his phone back in his hands. Wide eyed, he watched as Danny obviously with a GoPro strapped to his head, crawled through what looked like an air vent. Once he reached an opening he looked through the slits into what appeared to be Riddlers hide out. Danny took the Camara of his head so that he could grin into it making the sign for silence as he barely contained his own chuckles. The other then waited for a moment, the camera work now getting wonky and the video even glitching out but a second later Danny was back in focuse before pointing down and then directing the Camara to his view. There in Riddlers hideout now sat Danny's self engineered glitterbomb.
"No he didn't..." Tim muttered as the video cut to a different scene. Danny was now walking through the sewers, humming cheerfully while explaining why he chose who he choose.
Another cut and... Tim spluttered. How the hell did Danny manage to just walk into Arkam?! So he hadn't seen wrong at the beginning of the video.
Growing paller with every cut on how Danny delivered his self-engineered Glitter bombs, Tim started to fear for his new favorite youtubers safety. Thankfully he had already done his work on Danny's person when he sent the internship offer. Now he just needed to get Danny to freaking safty.
He dragged himself to his laptop still in disbelieve as various clips of the rogues getting glitterbombed from the bombs perspective started playing. And yep, he definitely didn't see wrong now in the beginning. The Joker was one of Danny's chooses victums. Aside from the fact that he was so going to download and save that video for eternity as well as share it with his brothers and friends, (because as funny as it was that most of them were Gotham rogues, Luther and another millionaire by the name of Masters had also been made victims.), he still had to figure out how to ensure this definitely insane youtubers safer from the warmth of 90% of their rogues now.
Great newly discovered favorite youtuber has just painted a big fat red target on himself.
Tim was just about to call everyone in when a bonus at the end of Danny's video started to play.
He recognized that safe house.
He recognizes the weapons displayed on the walls also.
Oh... that's...
Still laughing Tim still sent out a message to everyone. When asked why all he did was sent them the link to the video with to timestamps.
The first one of the Joker getting glitterbombed
The second one being Red Hood getting glitterbombed.

filling the void (2) II a.putellas x sister!reader
part one
so i kinda...angst'd a whole lot harder than planned? but the song listened to when breaking my own heart writing this was all the pretty girls by kaleo, i recommend a listen while you read! filling the void (2) II a.putellas x sister!reader
you tapped your foot somewhat anxiously as you sent a smile to the waitress hovering nearby, the older woman clearly wanting to take your order as she passed by for the fifth time since you'd sat down.
"buenos dĂas pequeña." your attention shifted as your breakfast date finally arrived, your anxiety that she might not come melting away as you stood to greet her, the older girl pulling you into a hug as you kissed her cheek.
"thank you for coming." you smiled a little nervously at olga as the two of you sat down, the waitress appearing again within seconds as you both ordered a coffee and she left you be with a food menu.
"thank you for inviting me." olga smiled, hanging her bag on her chair. "not that i do not want to have breakfast with you nena, but can i ask why i am here? you did not sound like yourself on the phone this morning." olga started gently as you nodded.
through the few years she'd been with alexia olga had of course been welcomed into the family with open arms, and albeit the growing gap between you and your sisters you still liked her a lot and visa versa.
olga had been the most nervous to meet you when she first started seeing alexia, knowing both from her girlfriend and through the grapevine that you had been incredibly close with her last partner jenni before she and alexia broke up, olga fearing you might resent her for not being jenni.
but right away you saw how happy olga made alexia and how she often brought out a different side to your eldest sister, something goofier, more juvenile and softer like when alexia was younger and there was far less responsibility on her shoulders weighing her down.
"sĂ, i wanted to apologise to you." you got right to the point, your sisters girlfriend quirking an eyebrow curiously but nodding for you to continue.
"i had no idea the event my friends invited me to was yours i promise, if i had known before i would not have agreed to go. but they bought my ticket for me and i only realized when we arrived that it was manuelas. then i tried to tell them why i couldn't go in but they insisted and i wanted a night out." you started, twisting the rings on your fingers nervously.
"but i should have thought about it more before i agreed to go inside. if someone found out i was underage and you were serving me alcohol you could have been in a lot of trouble and i did not think about anyone but myself." you sighed deeply, a noise which held far too much responsibility for someone your age making olga frown a little out of concern.
"so i am very sorry." you wrapped it up as your coffees arrived, thanking the waitress with a smile as you took a cautious sip and awaited olga to speak.
"thank you for apologizing pequeña." olga started softly once she'd had a mouthful of her own coffee, nails tapping absentmindedly against the burnt orange ceramic mug cupped in her hands.
"but i am not mad, and i was not mad at you the other night. i was just worried for you and for your safety which is why i tried to find you in the club before you ran away. but i can see now that i did not need to be because you are much more mature than any seventeen year old i've ever met, myself included." olga chuckled as she took another sip of coffee, a small smile curling onto your lips.
"but next time you want to go out with your friends to one of my events you come to me about it first, sĂ?" olga's tone became a little more serious as you quickly nodded in agreement.
"buena. or else i will have to stick pictures of your face behind the bar with a do not serve sticker across your forehead!" the older girl grinned teasingly which you returned, tension sucked away now as you visibly relaxed.
"so, estamos bien?" you checked in as you both grabbed the menu's to look at ordering some food. "sà pequeña, more than okay. but breakfast is on you since this is an apology!" olga winked making you laugh and agree with a nod, the two of you falling quickly into a different conversation.
~
alexia looked up from her phone as the front door opened, smiling at her girlfriend who stepped through and hung her keys on the hook, the spanish captain standing quickly to greet her.
"hola mi amor." olga laughed against alexia's lips which were quickly pressed to hers in a series of soft kisses, breaking apart and heading for the kitchen as alexia took her seat back at the counter.
"how was your meeting?" alexia questioned, ready to leave for training in an hour or so. "was not a meeting." olga shook her head, opening the fridge intending to make a list of what was needed so she could go shopping while alexia was training.
"i met your sister for breakfast, she called and asked me while you were in the shower this morning." olga explained, nails tapping away at her phone screen noting down what needed to be bought.
"so alba can see you but not reply to me? i have called her three times this morning!" alexia groaned in annoyance with a roll of her eyes, pulling out her phone intending to give her younger sister a piece of her mind.
"no amor, not alba." olga's hand gently pushed the phone down as alexia frowned. "oh. you saw fresa?" alexia's eyebrows shot up in surprise as olga hummed with a nod of confirmation.
"she called to ask you out to breakfast." alexia echoed as again olga nodded. "sĂ, she wanted to apologise for the other night." olga started gently, knowing the last few days had been a large wake up call both for alexia and alba who had been in near constant contact trying to work out how to fix things.
"really?" alexia asked in disbelief. "really. ale sometimes i forget she is only seventeen, she has a very good head on her shoulders. she even paid for breakfast too." olga smiled as alexia sat there stunned, drumming her fingers on the counter clearly lost for words.
"you called to invite her over for dinner this week?" olga asked softly capturing her attention again, rounding the corner and slotting herself in between the taller girls legs.
"i tried but she will not answer alba or i, both our texts or calls she just blanks them." alexia sighed as olgas arms draped over her shoulders, nails scratching lightly at the base of her neck relaxing her a little as alexia's own hands settled on her girlfriends hips.
"can you blame her cariño? when is the last time you called her just to talk to her?" olga spoke carefully, alexia looking as though she might argue before she deflated. "i cannot remember." the blonde muttered, shame obvious in her features as she looked away.
"how did i miss this? how did i mess this up so badly? she hates me olga and i cannot even fault her for it!" alexia laughed bitterly, the brunette wincing in sympathy.
"she does not hate you mi vida, venga." olga grasped her lovers hand, pulling her off the stool and leading her over to the sofa, sitting down and gently tugging the taller girl to lean into her side, hugging her tightly.
"she should after what i said the other night." alexia admitted after a few moments of silence had passed, pulling away slightly as olga gave her a curious look and alexia sighed, not having been completely honest with her about everything.
"i was so angry with her and the fact she did not seem care about what could have happened. but i was just so scared, what if someone spiked her drink? took advantage of her? hurt her? anything could have happened that night and i have been so absent i would not have even known. something could have already happened and i would not know!" alexia exhaled shakily, olga tracing a thumb over her knuckles.
"but what did you say to her amor." olga pushed gently, alexia avoiding her eyes as she paused for a moment. "i told her she was a careless, stupid, selfish little accident." alexia admitted quietly, olgas hands immediately withdrawing from hers as she recoiled in shock.
"alexia." the brunette managed out in disbelief. "i know. i know, it was horrible and cruel and i knew it would hurt her. i was so angry and scared i lashed out at her." alexia recounted, the memory burned into her mind like a branding, the blonde had been replaying it over and over for the last few days.
"you have not spoken to her since? apologized?" olga frowned as alexia shook her head. "no, alba and i have both tried but she just does not answer." alexia dragged her hands down her face, cheeks burning with shame that she once had the nerve to call herself your protector.
"she used to be this tiny perfect little baby, i remember the day she was born alba and i were so excited. when mami told us she and papi would be having another baby we were always happy, always supportive. mami was so worried we would resent her because there would be such an age gap, making us promise we would never." alexia started, voice hoarse and raspy as she avoided the burning gaze of her lover sat beside her.
"but from the very moment i laid eyes on her i promised i would never let anything hurt her, i would spend my life looking after her and making sure she knew she was so loved. she was so small when i first held her, our abuela knitted her this little blue blanket and beanie and my pinky didn't even fit in her tiny hand. she had rosy cheeks and bright eyes and she was perfect, our little bundle of joy." alexia recounted fondly, olga shuffling a little closer and placing a hand on her knee.
"our papi used to joke that she was born with a personal security team. the first few months she was home alba and i would argue over who got to hold her, help with feeding, dress her. at night we would drag our pillows in and sleep on the floor by her crib, we used to talk to her for hours and she would just giggle at everything." alexia smiled looking off into the distance with a forlorn gaze.
"then as she grew up and got a little older she could be so annoying. always following alba or i around wanting to do whatever we did, always wanting to be around us and just like us, copying anything we did, stealing our clothes to wear too. but i used to get her to mimic whatever alba said for hours and hours, she hated it but fresa always did whatever i asked." alexia chuckled at the memory, a small smile tugging at her lips before it slowly faded.
"but the way she looked at me the other night, like i was just a stranger in her home who she didn't even know. where is my little pequeña with strawberry stains all over her shirt who looked at me like i was the center of her universe? our fresa." alexia managed to whisper out as olga winced.
"mi amor, she grew up." the brunette spoke softly as alexia nodded. "sĂ. i took my eyes off her for a second and now she is all grown up, and i have failed her as a sister." alexia muttered bitterly, angry now at herself and how she had been so selfish and blind to everything.
"then fix this alexia. make things right with her before she grows up anymore and it is too late."
~
you'd not heard them arrive as you were in the shower getting ready to hang out with your friends, eli surprised to see both her other daughters at her front door when she opened it.
"hola mami. can we come in?" alexia started, both girls having been far too ashamed of their behavior to reach out much this week as eli nodded and moved aside, both her girls kissing her cheek hello.
"is fresa here?" alba asked hopefully as they both took a seat at the island, eli returning to the kitchen to keep making dinner. "sĂ, she is in the shower." eli nodded, turning around to stir the rice boiling in the pot as alexia and alba shared a look.
"so you have both thought about what we spoke of?" eli asked without turning back around, glancing over her shoulder her eldest two nodded. "we have and we want to fix things. we really really want to fix things with her mami, thats our baby." alexia spoke for the two of them as eli turned around with a small smile.
"i told you both, she is not a baby anymore." eli cautioned gently, scraping the vegetables off her chopping board and into the pot. "she will always be a baby, our baby. but we know she has grown up mami, and we want to be there to watch her continue to." alba spoke now as eli hummed.
"so you are both going to make an effort then? and because you want to, not because you feel you have to?" eli clarified as her daughters nodded in promise.
"we don't know how we let it get so bad mami, we thought she was just...spending time with her friends, that she didn't need us around as much." alexia admitted guiltily as eli only hummed.
though before another word could be said footsteps were heard and your eyes widened as you stepped into the living room and suddenly there was 3 pairs of eyes trained on you.
"hola hermanita." alexia spoke first, tone soft and as she smiled your hackles went up, sure that this had to be some sort of trap. "hola." you replied back curtly, tearing your eyes away and edging around the room.
"i'll be home later mami." you smiled grabbing your house keys as your hand hovered on the door handle. "wait hija!" eli called out as you raised an eyebrow.
"can you stay for dinner? meet your friends after, i made your favorite." eli offered, though her tone conveyed that this was still your decision, not wanting to push you into anything as you tried to ignore your sisters eyes boring into the side of your head.
"vale, i will message them now." you agreed with a small smile, hurrying back to your room before anyone could say another word. as alba went to stand and go after you eli sent her a look which said it all, they needed to let you come to them.
"nena! dinner is done." eli called out to you a few moments later as alba set the table and alexia helped dish up. "i can go get her?" the eldest putellas offered when everything was ready and you'd still not ventured out of your room.
eli nodded and alexia set off, pausing outside your door with a hand raised, pausing for a moment before knocking gently, stepping back suddenly as it swung open.
"dinner's ready fresa." alexia smiled as you only nodded curtly. "don't call me that." you replied quietly, shuffling past her and heading for the living room as alexia frowned and deflated at your words.
"why not?" alexia followed after you though if you heard her you made no move to acknowledge it, alba patting the chair next to her with a hopeful smile as you ignored the offer and sat down next to eli.
alexia knew she should drop it, try not to push and let you come to her but as you all sat down to eat she couldn't help it. "why can't i call you fresa?" you paused at the question before rolling your eyes.
"because i'm not a baby anymore, its a stupid nickname." you mumbled before shoveling a forkful of food into your mouth, eli sending alexia a sharp stare warning her to drop the topic as she started to argue your answer.
an awkward silence fell around the table as you shifted uncomfortably, well aware of the four eyes boring into you across the table as you stared down at your food and tried to pretend it was like any other night and they weren't there.
but given the set table and change to your regular routine, it was hard to ignore completely.
growing up you'd always had a strict family rule about eating all together and always at the table, no exceptions. though as the years passed and suddenly it was just you and eli she had softened, the two of you often sitting together on the lounge eating dinner and watching some sort of spanish soap most nights.
"so, how is work going?" you heard alba ask and assumed the question was directed at your mami, zoning out a little until you felt a gentle nudge to your shoulder and looked up, blushing when you realized your sister was actually asking you.
"its fine." you shrugged quietly, a pause following as everyone waited for you to elaborate. when you didn't eli decided to step in, taking the slightest amount of pity on the obvious struggle your sisters had to try and mend things.
"she can now test and take the blood, she is thinking about going to medical school." eli spoke proudly as you glanced at her with a small smile and your sisters eyes widened in surprise.
"to become a doctor?" alexia asked quite stunned as you scoffed. "no to become a firefighter." you rolled your eyes again as alba snickered quietly, wincing as alexia stomped on her foot and shot her a glare.
"to become a nurse." eli corrected as you nodded. "what about tennis, do you have a competition coming up?" alba asked as you gave her a strange look. "i don't play anymore" you reminded as she frowned.
"how is mariona?" alexia asked next, referencing your childhood best friend, someone you were no longer friends with. "how would i know?" you shrugged still looking down at the table in front of you and starting to eat a little faster, uncomfortable with all this sudden attention and interest.
"well she is your best friend, no?" alexia questioned in confusion. "no she's not." you mumbled shifting a little as eli caught her daughters eye and subtly shook her head, urging her away from the topic as alexia frowned but dropped it none the less.
"i didn't think you liked peppers pequeña, used to fight and kick and spit them out." alba chuckled quickly changing subjects as you continued to eat. "almost like when people grow up their tastes change, crazy!" you muttered sarcastically as your sisters grin fell away.
"what about art? are you still taking classes?" alexia swooped in next as you raced to finish your food and eli watched on at the trainwreck this dinner was fast becoming. "don't do that anymore." you answered quietly among mouthfuls.
"why? you were so good fresa." alba frowned as there was a clatter as you dropped your fork into your now empty bowl. "don't call me that. i'm not your fresa, or your pequeña, or your hermanita or your chiqui. i'm not a baby anymore!" you warned with a huff, grabbing your empty bowl and standing.
"can i go now please mami? my friends are here." you asked eli in a much calmer tone who nodded as you darted to the kitchen, rinsing out your bowl.
"i'll be back late, don't wait up." you ducked down to kiss eli's cheek and made a beeline for the door, grabbing your keys. "what you don't say goodbye to us anymore?" alexia spoke up as alba elbowed her with a glare.
"oh no i forgot alexia. it must have been an accident!" you bit back, clearly intending your words to mean something else, enjoying the way your eldest sisters face paled.
"hermana i really need to-" but alexia couldn't finish her sentence before the door was closing and you were gone. "nice one ale." alba mumbled with a shake of her head, grabbing her and eli's bowls.
"don't wait up, how late does she normally get back mami?" alexia asked with a frown, ignoring her younger sister who was washing up their dishes.
"whenever. she has never been dishonest with me about her plans, i trust her and she is responsible, more than either of you two were at her age." eli pointed out as both girls scoffed. "mami!"
"so she just comes home in the middle of the night and you say nothing? she's seventeen!" alexia scoffed with a roll of her eyes.
"like i said alexia, i trust her. she might be seventeen but she has had to grow up a lot faster than most girls her age trying to keep up with the two of you." eli warned softly as alexia fell quiet. "those are her friends?" alba asked, watching out the window as you walked up to a car and two girls got out.
alexia was up and by her side in an instant, both your sisters watching you hug the two older girls before getting into the car and taking off. "they are too old for her to be hanging out with. what about all of her other friends from school? mariona? natalia?" alba questioned with a frown.
"like i said hija, your sister has grown up a lot faster than other teenagers. as for mariona, you will never mention her name in this house or around your hermana again. sĂ?" eli spoke firmly as both girls frowned.
"why? mami what happened?" alexia questioned as the older woman sighed, both girls taking their seats at the table across from her again. "when your sister left school, she drifted from her friends. nothing bad, but she worked and had different interests and schedule availability than they did. but mariona did not take it well." eli started to explain.
"she invited fresa to a party saying she missed her and wanted to reconnect, i dropped her there and everything seemed fine. your sister called me a few hours later and she was very upset, i picked her up and she wouldn't tell me what happened at first." eli sighed with a shake of her head.
"what happened mami?" alba asked quietly.
"your sister was seeing someone, only for a little while but she liked her a lot, it was her first girlfriend. mariona and this girl told her at the party in front of everyone it was all a bet to embarass her, the girl said she never liked her, everyone laughed at her and she left." eli finished with another deep sigh.
"they grew up together, they were best friends. how could she do that?" alba asked in disbelief as alexia sat beside her seething. "why does a sixteen year old girl do anything nena? teenagers can be cruel." eli smiled sadly as alba hummed.
"i will kill her." alexia stated with a determined nod, rising to her feet as eli scoffed. "you will do no such thing and you will not mention a word of this to your sister! sit down and promise me alexia." eli warned sternly as the blonde locked eyes with her, eli raising an eyebrow daring her to argue.
"prometo." alexia mumbled, sinking back down into her seat. "why didn't she tell us? she used to tell us everything." alba spoke up now as alexia sat back with her arms crossed and a stormy look on her face.
"she did, and then you both stepped away and fresa had to find other people to go to. those girls might be older but they are her friends, they were there for your hermana through all of that. they have looked after her and helped her in the ways i would have expected you both to, they are good girls and good friends to fresa." eli's tone was swift as again, needing to cut into both her daughters in front of her.
"but they aren't her sisters mami, we are. she's supposed to come to us, so we can protect her and look after her." alexia grumbled, still with a face like thunder, a slight jealousy brewing in her eyes.
"sĂ, but you have not done either of those things lately alexia and if you want to fix this then you need to admit that to yourself and own it. your sister had to find other ways to protect herself and other people to care about her when she felt like both of you stopped." eli raised her voice slightly now as alba shrunk into her seat wracked with guilt and alexia's hardened gaze fell to the ground.
"she tried to come to you and i watched her be hurt and dismissed by both of you and i will always regret not stepping in sooner. but i am stepping in now and if you both do not want to lose her forever, make the effort, do the work and fix this."
~
you waved goodbye to your friends as you arrived to the front door, rummaging around in your hoodie pocket for your keys, shoving them into the lock and stepping inside as your friends peeled off having waited until you got inside safely.
when you heard the tv you shook your head with a smile, closing and locking the door behind you as your keys dropped into the bowl with a clink.
"mami i told you not to wait u-" you fell silent as you rounded the corner and realised it was in fact not your mami sat awake, but rather both of your older sisters were staring back at you, a movie playing in front of them which neither seemed to be paying much attention to.
"oh, you're not mami." you mumbled, giving them a suspicious once over. but before you could even blink suddenly two taller bodies were pressed against you and you tensed at the unwanted and unexpected contact.
"qué es esto?" you asked, arms pinned down to your sides as your sisters clearly attempted to force you into some sort of group hug. "get off!" you huffed, trying to push them off or wiggle away to no avail.
"just hug us." alba demanded as you rolled your eyes and managed to shove her away, darting out of alexia's reach as she grabbed for you next. "you are both so weird." you grunted out with a scowl, hovering in the hallway.
"why are you still here anyway? do you not have your own homes to go to." you rolled your eyes once you had, shoving your hands into the pocket of your hoodie.
"you know at one point we used to live here, it was our home too fresa." alba spoke up first with an amused smile which only soured your mood. "yeah used to." you mumbled under your breath.
"and i told you both to stop calling me that." you spoke up louder now with a small huff. "since its miraculously your home again you can both show yourselves out then." you rolled your eyes yet again and turned to head off to your own room.
"fres-no wait, por favor." alexia called out as you stopped, shoulders dropping as again you looked toward them. "we waited up and thought you might want to watch a movie? we could stay over and all hang out." alexia asked perking up hopefully as alba nodded in agreement and sent you a smile.
"why would i want to to do that?" you replied bluntly, raising an eyebrow as you looked coldly back to both of them. "pequeña we know we have not been around or been there for you like we should have been lately, we want to fix that." alba started gently as your eyebrows furrowed.
"oh sĂ? you do?" you perked up as if interested as both of your sisters both brightened. "well i don't, i told you both the other night. stay out of my life!" your fake enthusiasm dropped as your eyes narrowed into a glare.
"hermanita por favor we-" alba again continued as you scoffed and shook your head, taking a step forward and cutting her off. "i am not your fresca or your chiqui or your pequeña or your hermanita. i am not a little kid anymore, the two of you made sure of that." you spoke so coldly it was near unrecognisable.
"what is that supposed to mean?" alexia frowned as you barked out a laughter which was anything but humerous. "i think you know exactly what it means. i am not stupid, i am smarter than both of you and i do not need your pity or your guilt now your heads are out of your asses!" you snapped, fists balled by your side.
"your friends cannot replace us even if you try nena, we are your sisters by blood. you will not succeed in pushing us away." alexia spoke holding her head a little higher as you snickered in disbelief.
"oh i am pushing you away am i ale? i am pushing you? would you like me to push you alexia?" you stepped forward and shoved at her chest, the towering girl barely moving as her hands grabbed yours.
"get off!" you hissed trying to pull your hands free. "no. i love you and i will fix this, we both will." alexia's voice wavered for just a moment as you fought her to let you go as she just attempted to bring you into a hug.
"quĂtate de encima!" you yelled now, your chest growing tighter with anxiety and feeling like a cornered animal as your sisters strong arms refused to let you go. "alexia." alba warned quietly, catching her eye as alexia shook her head.
"no! i love you. i love you vale? i am so sorry for not showing it and making you feel like i did not fresa. i love you mi hermanita!" alexia let go of your hands and grabbed at your face, forcing your eyes to lock with hers.
with a broken grunt you wrenched them away and shoved her again, catching her off guard as she stumbled backward and grabbed the corner of the counter to stop from falling over.
"hey hey, take a breath chiqui por favor, lets all just calm down." alba tried to coo at you, stepping closer as you instantly recoiled and shook your head. "why won't you listen!" you yelled at her now, chest heaving to try and force back the sob which wanted to rip free from it.
"i am not a baby anymore. you want to fix things? you love me? you miss me and suddenly want to hang out with me? ask me questions about my life? as if you suddenly care?" you could only whisper out now as hot tears began to pool at the corner of your eyes and you angrily wiped them away with the back of your hand.
"hija." your head whipped sideways to see eli stood a few feet away with a concerned gaze as you wordlessly shook your head. "no. no! no. vete a la mierda!" you spat venomously at the two older girls and took another step back still shaking your head.
"you both have no idea what it is like to go from having a home filled with laughter and love and noise to nothing. one day we were all living here and it was happy and i was happy and you both cared about me. we ate dinner together, we went to watch barca, we would stay up late watching movies and go for drives. but then the next suddenly it was just me here, just me." you started, swallowing hard as your nails buried crescent shaped dents into your palms where your fists were tightly clenched by your side.
"I had to watch the two of you grow closer and closer, going on trips together, out for dinners, to concerts, eating meals at each others houses, to football games together when ale was injured, through a phone screen." you continued, everyone else stunned to silence at the outburst which eli had feared was a long time coming
"when i felt you both pulling away i tried reaching out. for months i tried calling, texting, i barely got one word replies or your voicemails. i posted photo after photo after photo of me hanging out with friends just so you might see and invite me to hang out with either one of you!" you confessed, again angrily wiping away a few stray tears.
"you donât come over for family dinners anymore but you always seem to be eating at each others houses without me, you didnât even notice I stopped coming to your stupid football games alexia, and you didnât even notice we havenât gone for breakfast in months when we used to go every single sunday alba, every one!" your voice raised again as you swallowed down a hard lump and continued.
"but why would you notice? i am just a-what was it ale? a stupid, selfish little accident." you growled as your sister rapidly shook her head.
"no no no mi pequeña por favor i did not mean it, no no no lo siento mucho i did not mean it, promesa." again your eldest sister surged forward to cup your face in her hands, heart breaking at how small and defeated you suddenly looked. "off!" you harshly pushed her away and shook your own head.
"you meant it, and you knew it would hurt me and thats why you said it. at least own that alexia, own it!" you yelled those final two words so hard your throat started to hurt, exhaling shakily.
"my entire life i have done nothing but look up to both of you. i have held you both on a pedestal for years and i wanted to be just like you. i looked at you like super heros por el amor de dios!" you laughed as a sob got caught and came out more like you were choking.
"but then you left me behind and suddenly i did not matter, my life did not interest you, i was not old enough or cool enough or whatever to gain any of your time or care anymore. you both left me here all by myself without a single word! you. left. me." you worked to choke out, fighting to catch your breath as your body shook.
"when you both left everything I did was to try and get you to want to spend time with me again. i played tennis so you might come and watch my games and be proud of me alexia, you never came. i did art so you might see and want to come to a class with me alba, you never did. i forced myself to grow up and try to seem like I was more than just your annoying little hermanita, so you might look at me like a friend and want to hang out sometimes." you shook your head, the tears now flowing freely and leaving a salty bitter taste in your mouth as you spoke.
"but none of it worked and I watched you two grow closer while i never felt further away. so my friends are older but they care about me, they want me around and they ask about my day and they invite me on trips and out for dinners and we go get lunch and we have sleepovers and watch movies and go to the beach and go for drives late at night singing to the radio." you listed off not even pausing to take a breath.
"all the things I used to crave the two of you wanting to do with me like we used to but you never did. so I filled that void, and i no longer care what either of you think. i grew up, by myself. i have my own life, my own support system of friends that love me and want to spend time with me. who know what i like and remember my interests and actually ask me about them because they care not because they suddenly feel what? guilt? hermana's there is no need. i had my time to be hurt, and let me tell you it hurt to watch the two of you leave me behind and ice me out when i did not even know why or what i did." you laughed again, a hauntingly broken noise which echoed around the otherwise dim and silent living room.
"so no. i do not want to watch a movie with you or be interrogated at dinner with a million questions of my life because neither of you can bother to call me or see me or care about what i am doing. i want you both to listen to me, know how much you hurt me, and just like you have been, i want you to leave. me. alone." your voice once again cracked on that final word as you spun around and all but sprinted to your room, slamming your door and sinking down against it with your head in your hands.
"i need you both to leave, now." eli spoke up quietly breaking the thick, uncomfortable and unbearable tension which had festered around the room, your sisters stunned to silence for once in their lives.
"mami-" alexia started, voice hoarse and croaky as eli shook her head and pointed to the door. "go." she ordered, refusing to meet either of their eyes which desperately bore toward her seeking any sort of comfort or solace, a gentle reminder that this would all be okay, that you could all work it out.
but they recieved nothing.
so with heads bowed and tears edging at the corners of their eyes they did as they were asked, eli only finally looking up once she heard the front door close and a car engine start, locking the door and hurrying to your room.
"oh mi preciosa." eli sighed, slowly opening your door and finding you curled into a ball on your bed, body wracked with sobs silenced into the pillow pressed against your face.
the moment you felt the bed dip you sat up and all but launched into her awaiting arms, breathing ragged and broken as you struggled to try and stop the tears which seemed to have burst like a dam.
eli's heart broke both at the sight of you and the realization of just how deep these new cracks ran within her daughters as she pressed soft kisses into your hairline and hugged you tightly.
"todo saldrĂĄ bien nena, te lo prometo."

and then sometimes he wishes he would just bite the bullet (even if you were his baby), because you were currently getting back at him for giving you the silent treatment. if he could do it over a trivial thing, so could you. tojiâs probably still mad about your guess in charades, where you couldnât understand that he was telling you he was riding a tricycle and not a bicycle, that mere difference of wheels causing a major roadblock in your relationship.
it was by far the stupidest thing youâve argued about (you assume he had a bad day, too), and you were willing to talk things out and tell him he couldâve just put up three fingers instead of pointing aggressively to an invisible tricycle, but he opts to glare at you and sigh instead. you canât believe heâs getting this worked up over a game of charades too, so you tease him the only other way you know how to.
it hadnât been that long since you talked, but you figured youâll need to start on dinner soon, getting a sick idea in your head when you see the new booty shorts you had ordered laying on your bed. you definitely thought it would be better for another day, but life is short and toji is not, so you pull them on and they feel divine, remembering the content smile on your face when your boyfriend had offered to pay for them â a reward well received when you check out your ass in the full-length mirror and the way it shaped your lower half.
the evening carries on as usual, but you can feel his stare once you emerge from your room in one of his shirts and he thinks you arenât wearing any pants until youâre pulling out saucepans and reaching for the spices in the top cupboard that his shirt rides up and he can see your plump fucking ass; he chokes on his water.
with your back turned, you stifle a little grin and continue with your chores as the shorts ride up with each walk from living room to kitchen, but itâs all under the guise of cleaning and setting the table, wiping aimlessly, too, at the coffee table in front of the TV where toji sat, even if you werenât eating there. you feel eyes on you when you return to the kitchen and continue your torture, cooking up a storm and bending over while looking into the fridge, while pulling out the plates for dinner, whileâ
âthose the shorts i bought you?â bingo. although youâre not quite ready to talk to him yet, you succumb with a curt nod. toji obviously isnât satisfied with your answer, footsteps approaching to lean on the kitchen island as his eyes keep his gaze locked at your butt.
âgonna ignore me for the whole day, hm?â it seemed like toji had other plans, his larger hand trailing up your thighs to your ass before curling around your waist. heâs pressing his front against you, hips grinding slightly even though you know he wants to do anything but that. youâre not wearing underwear, either, so the sensation of his bulge against your cunt is a lovely feeling and it takes everything in you not to moan.
you have to bring yourself back to reality to turn off the stove that feels so far away, hands clutching onto the countertops as you chase the familiar drag of your sex against his but toji only tuts, landing a slap onto your ass. âdinner first, baby.â
bastard. you roll your eyes and groan, but you didnât seem to catch his innuendo, so youâre yelping when he suddenly flips you around and tugs at your shorts, pulling it off of a leg so thereâs space for him. while your hands are pushing at his shoulders, desperately wanting to uphold your pride of ignoring him, you know the cool air against your cunt and the sight of fushiguro toji on his knees is only making you wetter.
and toji just smirks, looking up at you like his revered deity and you jump again at his cold hands prying your thighs apart, bringing a leg to rest on his shoulder. toji looks in love with your pussy, seeing your hole clench around nothing as your eyes beg for him to do something, anything, but he only continues to tease, running his thumbs along your folds and just missing your clit.
âuse your words, sweetheart.â
âneedâŠâ toji raises an eyebrow, cheek leaning casually against your thigh and he grins as he sees you fight your own pride like you donât want his tongue and fingers on you. give it a little more and youâll break, because through the silence of your shared home and your heavy breathing, the tension is so infuriating that youâre willing to push away that stupid game of charades to the back of your brain.
you hate how needy you sound, though. âi need your tongue⊠p-please, baby,â you plead and drag out the name, and in the stuffiness of the kitchen, you think toji, one of the strongest men you know, looks the fucking best when heâs smiling up at you with a wanton want behind his eyes. âwanâ you, toji, wanâ you to eat me out!â
âoh⊠of course, when you beg like that,â toji plants a kiss to your puffy clit and the simple gesture makes you whine, âhow could i say no to my pretty baby?â
toji delves in like heâs never eaten before, licking a thick stripe up your pussy to collect your slick before lapping at your clit, garnering a loud moan that reverberates throughout the house. you wish you never called him out on his terrible acting skills from the start, one hand keeping your balance while the other tugs on his black hair. harder and harder.
toji groans at your impatience as he feels you spread your legs further, moans and whimpers filling his ears. one hand sneaks under his shirt and squeezes at your tits, the other hugging you closer to him, fondling your ass at the same time. your boyfriend takes in everything, from your pleasured expression to your contracting tummy and he can feel himself harden below him.
but you come first, you always come first and he makes it clear when he halts for a second and you whine at the lack of contact. âeyes here, baby.â toji calls out to you, slapping your cunt and you jolt at the feeling, although itâs not entirely unpleasant; your eyes flit down to him. the other grins again and slaps your pussy a few more times, the wetness of your sex making loud, obscene noises, âtell me how good iâm making you feel, yeah?â
you mewl as you nod as his fingers prod at your hole and you swear the sudden intrusion has your stomach turning. youâre clamping down on his fingers which sets a pace, buried right up to the ends of his fingers as his palm collects your slick. your lover continues to abuse your clit, alternating between flicking his tongue and sucking.
âo-ooh, shit! theyâre so deep, tojiii!â the moans you let out were almost pornographic, breathless and needy with how good he was giving it to you, the familiar feeling of an orgasm creeping up on you. his fingers keep a constant pace, stretching you out so well and the roughness of them feel so contrasting on your body, but you love it. âtoji, iâ fuck, iâm c-close!â
âtaste so good, doll. câmon, cum on my tongue.â the older man is ruined too, the heat of the kitchen getting to him with how the strands of his hair stick to his forehead, but more than that, heâs grinding into thin air, wanting any sort of relief for his hardening cock. âyou taste like heaven, oh shit...â
ât-tojiâ iâm! oh, fuck, fuck fuckâ!â itâs not long before youâre unravelling in his hold, legs trembling and incoherent babbles spilling from your lips as toji licks up your release leaving from your dripping, tight hole, sure to lap up every last drop. his emerald eyes hold yours as he cleans you up, body still twitching and shivering from the mind-blowing orgasm before he stands and removes his fingers, holding it to your lips.
âsuck.â and you do, keeping eye contact as you wrap your tongue around him like you would to his cock, free hand already making pulling down his sweatpants that has a little pre-cum leaking through it.
âup you go, darling,â toji mumbles, plopping you onto the counter with ease, and because heâs so tall, his pelvis perfectly lines up with yours. itâs probably also because you envisioned this happening, though, that you made sure to pick out a kitchen countertop with the proper height. he slaps the tip of his cock on your glistening pussy, an angry red from being neglected, groaning as your arousal provides lube with no problem.
âjust so you know, iâm buying you more of those stupid shorts,â toji confesses before he pushes past your entrance, tip already stretching you so well that you laugh and moan at the same time, arms flying to encircle his neck to feel him closer. âf-fuck, baby⊠so tight, just for meâŠâ
ââs all yours, toji,â you whimper softly, an unspoken look in your eyes that just says that iâm yours for you to use, âthis pussyâs all y-yoursâ mmfââ
by then, heâs bottomed out, taking his time in filling you up inch by inch and your submission is reason enough for him to start rocking into you, hips faltering just a little by how warm and snug you felt that it has toji catching his breath. but he doesnât hold back once youâre comfortable, bullying his cock into you at a faster pace into your pussy that sucks him in so well with each thrust.
âyour tight, little pussyâs gâna make me cum faster than usual, pretty,â toji says with a breathless laugh, mouth tasting the sweat that lines your body as he kisses your neck.Â
âthatâsâ okay,â you choke out, pulling him away from the embrace and the sight that greets you takes your breath away. dark, lustful eyes trained on you and a stunning smile to match; you see your loverâs eyes soften ever so slightly when he hits that sweet spot in you, âiâll take allâ fuck- all of your cum, okay?â
and toji almost cums at that moment but he knows if he looks at you any longer and how your tongue lols out at how his cock fits so well in you, he just might; so he just settles for frantic nods, and nudges your head down to look at how his length moves in and out of you. your slick and his pre-cum is leaking all over the counter, squelching noises filling the kitchen. âlook at how well you take me. good fuckinâ girl is what you are.â
you giggle at the praise because you know toji means every word, but your moans take over soon. thereâs the twist of your core, that edging feeling that tojiâs drawing out of you so well â it doesnât help how he brings a hand to your clit, rubbing circles that youâre close, so close.
âtoji, toji, tojiââ chanting out his name is all you can do when youâre fucked silly, spilling over unexpectedly as you clamp down hard on his cock. toji groans when he feels you spasm over his length, hips not stopping even after you ride out your orgasm. youâre cumming so much that his stomach is wet, too, the pap! pap! pap! of his pelvis against your pussy sounding so filthy.
your babbles converge into three words, mumbling out i love yous to the older man and soon toji cums as well, swallowing your tearful confessions with a sloppy kiss and heâs releasing deep inside you. he can feel your mewls through the kiss, no doubt loving how his thick cum is spilling into you. his seed is hot, leaking from his tip in ropes and ropes until youâre filled to the brim and you sigh, content with how it feels in you.
your lazed hums make him chuckle, kissing you again and softer this time. âmy baby, my sweet baby,â toji makes sure to wipe your eyes after, and mutters apologies against your forehead for the dinner turning cold, but when he sees you and your languid smile, he knows you donât mind.

okay we know rafes help reader in situations like with electricity and no car and such. but maybe itâs the first time where he knows heâs in love with her and sheâs the one for him, where she doesnât go to him for any help. and itâs maybe like not having enough money to buy groceries for herself, or how she walks to work still bc she canât afford gas. and he gets so mad, and she thinks itâs an inconvenience to him. but itâs actually because rafe will always be there for her, and no matter what the problem is , he can fix it just for her
you got me overnight - r.c
pairing: rafe x pogue!reader(bartender!reader universe) warnings: first fight and confession đ«
Rafe knew convincing you he was worth a shot was the easiest part of your relationship.
You were absolutely perfect, made to be his. He could picture you right now, the way youâd smile at his stupid jokes, the warmth of your hand in his, or how youâd send him those random "good morning" texts that hit him like a gut punch every time. You were everything. It wasnât just the way you looked, although that obviously had him floored, but the way you thought about things, the way you cared about people. It was all of it. You gave a shit.
That was something new for him.
He never thought heâd get someone like you, someone who made him want to be better. It was months later, and he was hooked.
Totally gone. You were the real deal for him. Every time his phone buzzed with your name on the screen, it hit him in the chest. Hard.
So when you dropped it on him, casually, that you were walking to work because you didnât have the gas money while heâd been away on a family holiday, it set off something inside him.
You said it like it was no big deal, like it was just another part of your day. He was losing it. The idea of you walking to work, sweating it out while he was chilling on vacation, made him feel sick. He couldnât wrap his head around it.
Rafeâs jaw clenched. He didnât understand why you didnât tell him earlier, didnât ask for help. Why didnât you call him? He couldâve handled it in a second, no problem. You didnât need to be doing stuff like that.Â
âYouâve been walking to work?â
âYeah⊠itâs fine. Itâs not far,â you replied, brushing it off like it was nothing.
But it wasnât nothing. Not to him. He knew how far your walk was.
He knew it wasnât just around the corner. And you didnât have to be doing this. Even if he hadnât been there for the past week to give you a ride as he usually did, he couldâve taken care of it even if he was miles away. He was always here for you, even if he wasnât physically there.
Rafe gripped the counter tighter, trying to keep his frustration under control, for your sake. âWhy didnât you say anything? You didnât tell me you were low on gas.â
You gave a little shrug, as if that was the end of the conversation.
âDidnât wanna bother you. Itâs not your problem.â
Didnât wanna bother him? Not his problem? You were his problem, the best kind of problem, and he couldnât understand why you thought you had to handle everything by yourself. It pissed him offânot at you, but at the fact that you were doing this, struggling in silence. It was like you didnât trust him to be there for you.Â
You didnât trust him enough to lean on him when you needed something.
âWhat do you mean itâs not my problem?â His voice came out harsher than what he'd hoped for, and you froze, eyes wide.
âWhoa. Chill,â you said, holding your hands up defensively. âI didnât think youâd get so worked up about it. I can handle it.â
But that wasnât the point. You shouldnât have to handle it. Not when you had him. You were supposed to lean on him, to come to him when things like this came up.Â
Thatâs what being together meant.
It was crazy to him. Every part of him wanted to protect you, to make sure you didnât have to deal with anything like this on your own. The thought of you walking to workâtired, probably stressed outâwhile he was away doing nothing important...he hated it.
"You donât have to handle it, though," he argued, voice softer now but still frustrated âThatâs the thing. You donât get it, do you? I want to help. I need to help. When you're struggling, that's my problem too. I wanna be there for you. Always.â
You looked at him like he was overreacting like he was making something out of nothing. âBaby, itâs not that serious. Itâs just a couple of walks. Youâre acting like I was in danger or something.â
He ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm down, but it wasnât working. "It's not about the fucking walks. It's the fact that you didnât even think to tell me. Like I wouldnât care.â
You sighed, rubbing your temples like you were tired of this conversation already. âI didnât wanna bother you. You were on vacation. I didnât want to stress you out over something so small.â
He didnât know why it pissed him off so much, but it did. It was gnawing at him like a splinter under his skin, âYouâre serious? You didnât think it was worth mentioning?âÂ
You shifted on your feet, already defensive. âI donât know. I didnât think it was that big of a deal. I figured Iâd just handle it.â
âThatâs exactly the problem!â he snapped, stepping closer to you, his hand gesturing wildly. âYou figured youâd handle it? What the fuck? Why would you think I wouldnât want to know about something like this?â
âBecause itâs stupid gas money, Rafe!â you fired back, your frustration bubbling to the surface now. âI didnât wanna bother you with something so small! You were gone, and I didnât want to make it a whole fucking thing.â
He could hear the irritation in your voice, but it just made him angrier.
You thought you were protecting him from being âbothered,â but all it did was make him feel like you didnât need him. Like you didnât think he could help, or worse, like you didnât want him to.
âSmall? Are you fucking kiddinâ me? You walked to work for how many days, in the heat, probably tired as fuck, and you think thatâs small?â His voice was rising, and he hated that he couldnât control it, but he was too worked up now. âItâs not about the gas money. Itâs the fact that you didnât tell me. You kept it to yourself, like Iâm just some fucking dude whoâs not in your life like that.â
You crossed your arms, your own frustration clear. âRafe, youâre blowing this way out of proportion. I didnât need to tell you because I can take care of myself. Iâm not helpless.â
âThatâs not what this is about!â he nearly shouted, the words tumbling out before he could stop them. âThis isnât about you being helpless or not! Itâs about you letting me be there for you, letting me help you when things get tough. Shit. Thatâs what this is, what we are. You donât fucking get it.â
âI do fucking get it, Rafe!â you snapped back, stepping closer to him, your eyes burning with misplaced anger. âBut I donât need to run to you every time something goes wrong. Iâm not gonna fall apart because of a few days without a car.â
He was grinding his teeth now, trying to keep his composure but failing miserably. âItâs not about falling apart. Itâs about the fact that you didnât even think to lean on me! You didnât trust me enough to just call and say, âHey baby, Iâm low on gas. Can you help?â You shouldnât have to figure it out on your own.â
You threw your hands up, exasperated. âI did figure it out! I walked. It wasnât some huge disaster. I made it work.â
âBut you shouldnât have had to!â he yelled, his voice echoing in the kitchen. âWhy canât you get that? You donât have to handle shit like this alone! I want to be there for you. I need to be there for you. Donât you get that?â
You flinched at the volume of his voice, but you didnât back down.
âYouâre acting like I donât care about us because I didnât ask you to bail me out. I care, Rafe. But I can deal with things on my own, too. Iâm not just gonna dump every little problem on you like itâs your job to fix everything.â
Rafe shook his head, running his hands through his hair for the millionth time, pacing now because he couldnât stand still. âIt is my job, though. Thatâs the whole fucking point. Iâm supposed to be the one you come to when things go wrong sweets, big or small. Iâm supposed to be the one who makes your life easier, not the guy you hide stuff from.â
You let out a frustrated laugh, disbelief coloring your tone. âHide? Seriously? You think Iâm hiding things from you? It was gas money, Rafe, not some deep, dark secret.â
âIt feels like it, though!â he shot back, voice cracking slightly, betraying the emotion heâd been holding back. âIt feels like you donât trust me. Like Iâm not⊠like Iâm not enough for you to depend on.â
You went silent at that, your arms dropping to your sides as you stared at him, the tension between you thick and heavy. âThatâs not fair,â you said quietly, shaking your head. âYou know thatâs not true.â
âDo I?â his voice cracked slightly, âBecause it doesnât feel like it. Iâm out here thinking Iâm the one whoâs supposed to have your back, but youâre just out there, dealing with stuff alone. It makes me feel like⊠I donât know. Like Iâm not even part of your life like that.â
âThatâs not what this is,â you said, stepping toward him now, the fight draining out of your voice. âI didnât ask you because I didnât want you to worry. Not because I donât trust you. I thought I was helping by not making you deal with it.â
He let out a bitter laugh. âHelping? You think it helps me to know youâre struggling and didnât say anything? Thatâs not helping. Shit, thatâs torture, baby. Iâd rather know and fix it than find out after and feel like an idiot because I wasnât there.â
You sighed, rubbing your face with both hands, exhaustion settling in. âRafe, I didnât mean to make you feel like that. I didnât think it was that serious.â
âItâs serious to me,â he said, his voice almost a whisper now, the anger ebbing away, leaving only the hurt behind. âBecause I love you. And when you love someone, you donât want them to handle things alone. You want to be there. Always.â
You froze, eyes wide as you stared at him. What? He hadnât planned to say it like this, not in the middle of a fight, but there it wasâout there and real.
âI love you,â he repeated, quieter this time. âAnd I need you to understand that means Iâm here. For all of it. No matter how small it seems.â
He said it. He loved you. Maybe it wasnât the best timing, but at least it was out of his chest. This man who had always been so intense, so fiercely protective, was looking at you like you held his entire world in your hands. And you did.
He loved you. That wordâloveâfelt huge, almost too much. But it was what you had felt for him too. It was why you held back from asking for help, not because you didnât trust him, but because you didnât want to burden him with every little problem. You thought you were protecting him. Now, standing there, you realized maybe youâd gotten it wrong.
âYou l-love me?â
âYeah. I thought that was obvious by now.â
âRafeâŠâ you started, but he shook his head, his jaw clenched like he was bracing himself for rejection.
âItâs fine,â he mumbled, turning away, his hand running through his face. âYou donât have to say anything. I justâI just needed you to know.â
âNo.â You stepped forward, reaching for his hand before he could pull completely away. âNo, you donât get to do that. You donât get to just say it and walk away like Iâm not standing right here.â
His gaze shot back to yours, confused and a little bit guarded, like he wasnât sure what to expect.
âI love you too,â you said, the words feeling right as soon as they left your lips. You squeezed his hand, needing him to feel it. âI love you, okay? I didnât ask for help because I didnât want to drag you into my mess. I thought I was being strong, handling things on my own. I never wanted you to feel like I didnât need you. I do need you,â you continued, stepping closer, your voice trembling slightly. âAnd I know now that I shouldâve just called. That I shouldâve let you help me, because thatâs what we do. Weâre a team. I just didnât want to be a burden.â
Rafe let out a shaky breath, his shoulders sagging as if the weight of the world had just been lifted off him. He pulled you into his arms, holding you tight against his chest, his grip almost desperate. You melted into him, burying your face in the crook of his neck, feeling the calming thrum of his heartbeat.
âYouâre not a burden,â he whispered, his voice hoarse. âYouâll never be a burden. I justâI need you to let me be there for you. I donât care what it is. Big or small, I wanna know. I wanna help.â
You nodded against his chest, breathing in his familiar scent, letting the warmth of his skin calm you.
âOkay. I promise.â
He pulled back slightly, just enough to look at you, his thumb brushing lightly against your cheek. There was something in his eyes now that hadnât been there beforeârelief, maybe, but more than that. Love. He felt you relax against him, your body molding into his.
âSay it again,â he murmured, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
You chuckled softly, your hand resting on his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart under your palm. âI love you, Rafe.â
He leaned down, pressing his forehead against yours. âI need you to get something,â he said softly, his voice much calmer now âWhen I say I love you, Iâm not just saying it. I mean it. Like⊠for real. Iâm in this, all the way.â
You blinked up at him, your eyes wide âIââ you started, but he shook his head, cutting you off gently.
âNo, listen,â he interrupted, âIâve never felt like this before. Youâre everything. And I love you for it. I love every single part of you.â
He felt his chest tighten as he said it, like the words were coming from somewhere so deep inside him that he hadnât even realized they were there until now. But they were, and they were real. He didnât just love youâhe needed you. He wasnât sure if youâd even processed it yet. Then, slowly, you grinned, your eyes glistening just a little.Â
âThis just⊠it feels so big. Holy shit, bigger than anything Iâve ever felt.â
âThatâs because it is big,â Rafe said, his voice dropping to a whisper as he pressed his forehead against yours again. âItâs the biggest thing in the world to me. You are.â
Your breath hitched, and he could feel you trembling slightly in his arms. You reached up, cupping his face with your hands, and for the first time since the fight started, Rafe felt like you were really seeing him. Not just in that moment, but all of himâthe guy who was scared out of his mind at how much he needed you, but who was willing to do anything to keep you close.
âI love you too,â you said it again, your voice shaking a little as you said it. âIâm sorry.â
âWeâre in this together,â he kissed your knuckles, his own fingers gently brushing through your hair. âNo more going through stuff alone. Not you, not me. Weâve got each other now.â
You smiled, and Rafe felt like he could breathe again, really breathe, for the first time all night. âDeal,â you whispered.
And right there, he knew that everything was going to be okay.
Because you werenât just someone he lovedâyou were his person.Â
