No more "toxic yuri" where it's just two women who argue sometimes or there's some misunderstanding that drove them apart. I want toxic yuri where they have actively tried to kill each other. maybe it's my first time entering a fandom with a media that isn't an easy one to comprehend at first glance but somehow the idea of liking kenjaku and understanding that they've done horrible things somehow can't get in people's heads?

it's my first time doing this as well, i didn't even expect i'd like one of the main antagonists of the series, but now that i have, i can see how....people mostly can't comprehend depth and holding several layers of feelings for something at the same time, especially if that character is a villain.

sure, there are a certain portion of people that like kenjaku that has an interest in problematic things as well but there are also a portion (a bigger one at that) that aren't and they like kenjaku based entirely outside their actions itself, like their intelligence, or temperament, personality, relationships, etc.

liking kenjaku doesn't mean we have to redeem them in everyone's eyes. we don't have to keep washing ourselves either.

their actions complete who they are but that doesn't mean the audience can't have complexities on how they perceive a character, especially someone as multi-layered as kenjaku.

there may be a thin line between liking fiction just for liking it and liking fiction because it explains something about you but there is still a line.

maybe it's the common morality schtick, or perhaps the connotative emotions people associate on "villain", especially with the fear that comes with something you don't understand, or not wanting to discuss things about those because it feels taboo but somehow........ all discussions that base on those are counterproductive....

to filter, remove and attempt to deter consumption of media that discusses problematic occasions doesn't bode well.

Gentle reminder that 9naa (along with Motive Village and Y.ent) is a highly questionable company that at the very least mismanages their actors and seems to thrive on the concept of "bad promotion is better than no promotion."

By all means, go ahead and watch Kiseki Chapter 2*. I watched Check Out and Venus in the Sky too, thinking that I'd at least support the actors (that didn't turn out very well at all but at least I get to see Best Vittawin in a new series soon 🙏) and that maybe hopefully the production team is inexperienced but trying. My clown shoes have never been squeakier, thanks for asking. 🤡

*You might wonder what happened to Kiseki Chapter 1: one of the leads withdrew and canceled his contract with 9naa but apparently only after being completely ignored by them to the point where he had to contact a lawyer. 9naa made a half-hearted announcement about it (but only AFTER the actor had announced his withdrawal on his own ig account TWICE) and then proceeded to re-release the same pilot trailer (including the actor) for Kiseki Chapter 1. Since then, nothing, and now of course there's the Kiseki Chapter 2 trailer in all of its distorted VR glory.
