I had an idea to make a comic about what Shadow was doing while sonic was "dead" (it was planned to be test in writing sonadow while staying in-character), and it would focus on Tails a bit, I wrote a scene where shadow encounters Tails, it's unpolished, but here it is (this is about 3 months into Sonic's dissappearance):

T "you. what do *you* want?"

S "I'm looking for sonic-"

T "Sonic is gone!" (at this point Tails knows it's the real Shadow because he spoke, and phantoms didn't speak this early in yet)

S "Tails..."

T "you stood there and watched it happen!"

S "that-"

T "I DONT CARE! Shadow... I could have DONE SOMETHING! ...but I didn't, I watched as infinite killed him in seconds..."

S "Tails... *sigh* I know what you're going through-"

T "DON'T GIVE ME THAT! (Tails shoves Shadow) I could have jumped in with him to fight, like I always do... it wasn't like Maria! Sonic didn't stop me, I had all the chance to- ...I- I could've-" Tails starts to break down

Shadow sits next to him, closer than he usually gets with people

S "I know how much he meant to you... to everybody... I'm in no place to tell you how you should deal with this... I'm sure I'm just in denial, but I believe that Sonic is alive *somewhere*, he's too stubborn, I don't care how futile it is... I know that I'm probably just chasing a dead end... but I know Sonic, we both do..."

T "...that's how I know he's gone, he would have shown up by now, boasting about how 'it'll take more than that to knock me down, egghead!' ...but he didn't... (Tails looks at the surrounding machines with Eggman branding on it) Eggman won... he took over, and nobody could stop him... we lost, Shadow... it's over."

shadow gets up

S "we'll get through this, I promise to you" Shadow skates off, Tails suddenly notices how similar Shadow is to Sonic

that's all I got so far, but I also wrote the scene where shadow actually does find sonic, adding on to that scene we see in the real game, I wanted to share that too (4 months into sonics death):

Sonic was fighting Shadow (phantom) for "being on Eggman's side!" had his arms up for a block, but Shadow never hit him, he looks and sees the real Shadow beating the living daylights out of the Shadow Phantom (I wanted to go all out and make this fight longer to make the phantoms seem more threatening), the real Shadow turns to sonic, standing there in the shadows of the destroyed city

Sh "hmph, finally ...I found you, faker" he has a smile on his face

S "Faker? *I'm* the fake?"

Sh "of course, you're not even good enough to stand up to MY fakes"

S "*Ha! I'll make you eat those words" sonic seems weirdly angry, there's a lot of emphasis on 'eat', it has a disdainful bite to it

Sh "you really want to fight now?-"

Sonic lands a hook to Shadow's face

Sh "what? what are you- (blocks another strike) We have 2 clear enemies, and you're fighting me?"

Sonic continues to attack

S "you think I'm not GOOD ENOUGH to stand up to the ultimate lifeform!? Ha!"

Shadow continues to block attacks, this isn't sonic's fighting pattern at all, it's like he's fighting to kill

S "I'll show you just how WORTHLESS you are, Shadow" he barely whispers Shadow's name while he nearly yells 'worthless'

Sh "(worthless? ...Infinite!)"

this is the point where the phantoms start speaking, also, OF COURSE infinite would have tricked people with Phantom Sonics, why DIDNT they do that? I want to add that the Phantom Sonics would've acted alot more like he actually does in the real Forces: out of character and one dimensional because the people making sonic don't understand his character (lol), and the real sonic in this would act like he does in Frontiers and IDW, he's just specifically out to mess with Shadow and freak him out here, also, he still can't control his rage for shadow calling him worthless

anyway, sorry for going on longer than i meant to lol

Tails was robbed in Forces. Which, I know. Understatement of the century and everyone’s talked about it. This is the same Tails who had beaten Chaos and gone toe to toe with Eggman by himself. And yeah, his cowardliness was so out of character.

But that’s not what I’m talking about here.

What I’m talking about is how they could’ve gone so hard into Tails watching Sonic die in front of him. And, more importantly, they could’ve done some amazing character parallels.

Because we have a character who watched their older siblings who was mainly associated with the color blue die in front of them. Shadow.

Imagine how much better Forces would be if we found a Tails who wanted to completely, utterly, annihilate Eggman. A Tails who has turned to anger just like Shadow did. Imagine that being the reason Tails had left. He wanted to kill Eggman and the others didn’t want to do so immediately.

Tails. The only person who can go toe to toe with Eggman intellectually. Imagine him deciding that maybe violence is the answer in this case. We’ve seen how he as a person is entirely capable of pretty extreme violence in Nine. Imagine that happening in Forced.

The parallels between Tails and Shadow are already there and I know people have mentioned it, but no where are they more prevalent than in Forces. They could’ve done so much with it.

Imagine a scene between Shadow and Tails where Shadow acknowledges how similar their situations are? Shadow comforting Tails? Ugh. They could’ve done so much!

Round 2 of Veilguard (Watcher first, Crow second), going to note the little details I love (SPOILERS):

- When my rogue Rook is jogging I can hear the sound of the arrows in their quiver clinking against each other

- When you take Harding to practice her stone powers, after she moves the second one she raises her hands up in victory. Cute!!!

-The companion outfits!! They’re so detailed! The embroidery on Harding’s shirt, the intricacy of Bellara’s sleeves!! How elegantly Neve’s clothes are cut and draped! The little crow skulls on Lucanis’ buttons and fasteners!!

- The way the light glances off of Bellara’s earring. The hairs at the back of her neck that aren’t caught up in her bun

- The expressions!! They’re so good! The way Bellara’s brow wrinkles in the middle of her forehead under her Vallaslin; how she blinks rapidly when she’s talking about Cyrian (Bioware why can’t I hug her ;-;). How Neve smiles at you! Ahhhhh! Dare you not to fall for Lucanis when he looks at Harding all soft after he makes her coffee and she hates it!!!

- The way the grocery list/cooking rotation paper on the wall in the kitchen changes throughout the game

- Little notes everywhere where your companions write to each other and the people they care about! Harding’s letters to her mother! THE BOOK CLUB!

- The little references to the other games everywhere! Joining chalice, Aura’s letter, Blackwall’s commendation, Malcolm Hawke mention in Weisshaupt! Finding Thom’s little rocking griffon! Arainai’s Talon! The thing that made the Harvester in Golems of Amgarrak! The dog named Ostagar! The Arishok refusing to split from the Qun! Heir in the Diamond!

- Elgar’nan thinks Lusacan used to be bigger and Ghilan’nain still cares for her halla

-the whole Necropolis but ESPECIALLY the gardens

-the candlehops!

-How when you pet the cats the rumble feature activates on the controller because they’re purring

- THE MINRATHOUS CAT CAFE <3

- The vendor in the market in Antiva who tells you the story of how she killed her husband if you return there repeatedly

- How Rook is so— sometimes unexpectedly— wise and caring, so thoughtful and considerate! I love them!

- The way the choir crescendos and then cuts out right before Solas says ‘Vhenan’!!! AHHHHHHH

- The way he bends in on himself and clutches at the dagger when Mythal is talking to him; the way he says her name

- ‘I don’t know how to feel’ ‘I do. I know exactly how to feel.’ ‘Just don’t leave.’ ‘Never.’ ;;;;;;;;;;-;;;;;;;;;; FUCK!!! You can’t just say that that way!!!

Just in case: there are spoilers for the edelstein-trilogie ending under the cut. (Its not very cohesive just mostly a rant tho.)

Finished smaragdgrün today and i thought i remembered how much the end pissed me off but hoo boy actually reading it made me so much angrier!! Might have to write kerstin gier a very strongly worded letter where i can finally get out all the annoyance that has been accumulating inside me since 2011

I dont care how rushed the ending feels, i dont care about the not super exciting reveal of the count or even that gideon suddenly becomes immortal just to give the audience a twist ending surprise (literally forgot about both of these plot points lol) but the ending of james' story pisses me off so much its ridiculous tbh!

Like you cannot spend three entire books explaining again and again (and again! Really too much actually) how the time travel rules of this universe work and then just completely break them just to give a (not even very likeable) side-character a sappy good ending which disregards everything we have been reading for however many pages and just expect me to accept that??? I will never get over this i will die on this hill (from old age probably... ive never met anyone who would care to fight me on this)

The story really does not need to give james a happy ending but more importantly: if he didnt die and become a ghost he would have never met gwen and therfore she could not have given him the vaccine to save his life so none of this makes any sense and completely breaks the time continuum!!!

If anyone of you ever writes a time travel book please for the love of fuck get an editor who has a single brain cell and can tell you when you fuck up your own logic!!!! Or at least give it to me to read!! How did this get published good god!

nosy anon again making a return because i think what my brain did was read that i helped find some kind of writing and then did not fully process what the writing was?? but upon rereading i am very intrigued if you ever get the urge to share i will be all eyes/ears/senses required to enjoy things!!

I GET TO DO WIP WEDNESDAYYYYYY!!! the writing exists mostly in the form of a tag (fantastic! 'verse) and also a thirty-two page doc of snippets and planning, so the sense you will be using most is imagination:

don't think i have ever actually formally written out anything about fantastic! 'verse but! the tl;dr of it is that it's a semi-college au: joel is still a hockey player for the lv phantoms, but morgan is a college student-athlete. it's incredibly relevant to the plot that joel falls in love with morgan in the check-out line of a wegman's, lies a little bit, and ends up going back to get his degree.

most of it is just good fun about college kids growing up, but i think there's a lot of parallels between making your way through a development system where traditional "success" isn't always guaranteed (ahl -> nhl, completion of higher education -> pursuit of a career) because that development system isn't always designed for you to "succeed" or have opportunities. heavy quotation marks around success because part of that struggle is learning what you want in life and how you define success. are your dreams achievable? are they still the same dreams you always used to have? it's infinite branching universes of would you still love me if i was a worm (ahl player forever) (a college dropout) (a college graduate) (older) (realizing the fallibility of your body) (uncertain of the future) (human).

Midnight Picnic

Cory + Marina

Summary: Cory and Marina have a Picnic....At midnight.

CW: Swearing. Pretty short cause I don't got much motivation.

I did a story on my Instagram asking for writing prompts, and one of my friends said for them to hang out, so I choose them having a picnic!

Cory sat on the cold counter of her bathroom sink, some curly strands of her hair gliding through the bristles of a brush she grasped in her right hand, with her fingers then combing them after each stroke. She did this every morning, it was apart of her daily routine, but, what she didn't do every day, was dress up in a pretty pink outfit and count down the minutes until the clock hit 11:30....pm.

It was no suprise Cory and Marina couldn't hang out in public, because unlike Cory, whose ability didn't alter her physical appearance to an inhuman amount, Marina's ability made her take on some features of a shark....and regular people don't really look like sharks. So, naturally, being around people who don't know of his existence likely wouldn't go well, which led to the two girls to spend most of their time indoors.

Not that it was to much of a problem, but, it did make Marina a little sad she couldn't do the things most people could anymore, just because of an ability she didn't even want. And whenever Marina was sad, it made Cory sad to, so, despite her better judgement, she suggested for them to have a picnic....at midnight....so no one could see Marina. And Marina agreed!

Which was why Cory was awake, well past the time she'd usually be asleep, getting ready to go out.

With a sigh, the young girl pushed open the door to her house, before stepping out onto the porch, and as expected, she was met with the blinding white of the void, seeing as she was in her pocket dimension of sorts. No matter how long she would use her sketchbook as a home, she'd never get used to waking up in the limitless yet primarily empty space.

Flicking her sketchbooks back cover open to the last page, she then dropped it to the floor, before stepping into the page, letting her body fall into paper. The process only took a mere few seconds, and was relatively painless, but, it always left Cory feeling tingly. And just like every other time she did this, Cory now found herself standing atop her sketchbook, in the middle of a dark wooded area in which she took up residence.

It was silent, no animals and definately no humans, seeing as Cory went deep into the land, to make sure no one came across her or her little make shift camp. Well, that was until the sounds of rapid approaching footsteps could be heard from behind her as a weight of a person was thrusted onto Cory's back.

"What the!?-" The split haired girl exclaimed, quickly glancing around despite the fact the person was on her back. "Coooooryyyyyy" A raspy voice screeched into the aforementioned girls ears as the person wrapped their arms around her neck.

The actions themselves were enough to tell Cory who this was, but the voice sealed the deal. "Marina!?" She questioned rhetorically, before huffing softly. "What have I told you about screaming in my ears! Are you trying to make me go deaf, you damn fish stick!?" She scoffed, shaking Marina off her back like she was some simple droplets of water, making the shark-like girl hit the floor with a thud.

"Fish stick!?" She looked up at Cory with a look of pure offence, before quickly rising to her feet once more. "You heard me!" Cory smirked as she started to walk in the direction of the treeline with Marina following suite soon after. "Fish stick, really!? You're one to talk, you art school reject!"

"Wow, your insults are almost as lame as you are"

"That's not what you're mother said last night!"

"Overused too, just like yourself"

Their little bickering soon came to an end at Cory's comment as Marina growled in annoyance, not once had she ever won a fight with Cory, and she hated it. With none of them bothering to make conversation again, they now walked in silence to their destination, which was actually quite far away....If only one of them could teleport.

A black checkered blanket layed flat on the grassy ground of a small hill. Sat atop it's soft fabric were plates of food, and bottles of different drinks, as well as the two teenagers gorging themselves on all of it. Marina ate fast, shoving food into her mouth to try and satisfy her never ending hunger, the negative to her ability, while Cory ate at a moderate pace, chucking light heartedly judgmental looks at her friend, who smiled and laughed in response.

"Sometimes I question if you're actually a pig instead of a shark" She sneered, before taking a sip of the sweet strawberry flavoured milk she loved so much. "Haha, very funny" Marina replied sarcastically, rolling her eyes to further prove how disinterested she was in this topic. "How have we been friends for 12 years, it's surprising" Cory mumbled, glancing around at the discarded wrappers and empty plastic bottles, most being from Marina, and knowing Marina, Cory would probably have to be the one to clean this up.

Cory looked to the ground for a moment, before rolling her eyes. "I guess so...." She muttered taking another bite of her piece of cake, before the universe seemingly decided to play a prank on them.

Letting out a deep sigh, she shook her head, before using a fork to pick up a bit of cake, and pop it into her mouth, enjoying the spongy texture. She was trying to relax, but, having chosen to have their picnic in a park in the city of all places, made her nervous. Even if it is midnight, Cory was still worried someone would see Marina. The said girl, having noticed her friends tense nature, snickered softly. "Girl, calm down, it's late, no one's out at this hour"

"Hey...Is that a shark?-"

I occasionally wish to reach out to old friends/acquaintances I haven't spoken to since high school/some other even earlier time in my life, but I have SOOO little social energy even for required tasks (like making dr phone calls or etc), I never have any leftover for extra ones, and it would be very odd to message someone I haven't spoken to in like 5 years out of the blue but then take 4 entire months to respond back lol.. My natural curiosity with nostalgia/collecting details of the past/etc. (literally if I were born a little earlier I would definitely do scrapbooking or something lol) is very strong, but, alas, not strong enough to beat out the Social Issues Demons apparently

Like yeah I can absolutely be charming and personable when I need to be, but I have to be in the correct headspace first. Like I have to not be catatonically depressed about my dog dying and my sister dying and winter in the north being so bleak!!! Can we talk about it
