Okay so a lot of my mercenaries I've been searching their clothing and found out a lot of them or a mixture of things specially around world war 2, vietnam war AND korean war, I know this thanks to soldiers boots, and hell even the little pouches from the mercenaries, yeah real. but I want to make this post so I never loose this information because holy crap medic has been the hardest merc to find proper references, doesn't help he's a mad scientist and does all the technology himself. I've concluded that medic has a modified coat that's painted in white something closer to this. vvvv Except just a bit looser and with the flaps of the coat a more open shape to give him a more epic look for his villanous side lmao.

I think that's as far as I can go for his weird coat because the cuts just don't exist irl I've looked through a lot of references, and non come close to it. UNLESS they're doing a soldier and mixing both a battlefield and surgery medic on both.

i switched out Gizmo's collar for a braided grass cord--I think that it'd recognize a collar is too dangerous to have in the wild (choking hazard!), but still want to keep the memory of its life before. The bell probably got stuffed with mud or moss to keep it from making too much noise

museums! a lot have online collections to look at: the met is my go to a lot of the time, and the worcester art museum has the higgins armory collection currently. movies, shows, comics, if they have a costume aesthetic I really enjoy. dover publication has a couple of books collecting medieval fashion over the centuries I like to flip through.

nc wyeth's medieval illustrations, arthur rackham, and john william waterhouse too. medieval tapestries and manuscripts. 13th-16th italian fashion & art. lately I've been playing more with 4th-~11th century roman/byzantine influences! renfaire/medieval reeactment photos are a great visual resource too.

claire hummel's historical fashion resource doc is an excellent starting point and resource, additionally this collection of illustrators.

slowly listening to the full cccc album my myself :]. im very much in the fandom, just might not get all the references. mind is my favorite guy (everyone else is awesome too) so that might reflect here haha. calamari’s mind neck was so interesting to draw, i had the idea it can retract-ish and hide away in his weird fluffy coat. they all look so cool 😭😭

oH and a little extra whiteboardfox doodle wouldn’t hurt anyone. i wondered why the tubes on his neck were there, and came to the conclusion maybe theyre to substitute bloodflow because his neck is broken and blocked :0!

kind of funny because i first discovered calamari’s art amidst the aftermath of some twilight sedation i had (related to my ✨gut issues✨). discovered both calamari’s (i think) and spook on twitter’s (definitely) art after that whole procedure when i was home and watching turning red, love that movie,,, makes me cry. kinda funny i’m returning to calamari and spook’s arties at the same time after discovering them both at also the same time a while ago. was it october? wow.
