Scrap update for those curious. Since I last talked to you about my DnD character, the funny little rat guy, he has thrown a fairy at a possessed guy, almost killing him, and nearly got the shit beaten out of him for stealing a PDA

aradia is obviously naïve but i also don't think her perspective is as simple as just that -- there's also a kind of freedom and clarity in regarding all the social structures of this world as a weird game of pretend that everyone else is taking very seriously. everything that isn't her apocalypse cult church is meaningless to her. so on the one hand, yes she is extremely bad at the game and will accidentally offend people/ put herself in danger/ reveal too much information to the wrong people/ look ridiculous, but on the other, unorthodox methods get unorthodox results. people are so taken aback by blunt honesty and lack of pretense/ agenda in this setting that she sometimes circles all the way back around to being as good at talking to NPCs as Kit and Breach, the group politicians.

(this is super fun to play bc it's a stark contrast to teddy, who is WILDLY self-conscious, hyperaware of all context and power dynamics, and constantly overthinking everything, and Aster, who is also extremely aware of all these things but often chooses to ignore them out of a privileged/ arrogant mindset that the rules don't apply to her)

I had a dream that dnd 6e dropped and it was all biblical themed?? like you couldn't play a wizard or a bard, you could only play as a prophet, a heretic, or like an apostle I think? and the races were like human, demon, humanoid angel, and biblically accurate angel? the DM was always referred to as God too??

anyway the plot of the dream was a d20 campaign with 6e and brennan was having way too much fun playing God and got excommunicated by the catholic church for being?? too sacrilegious ig? and then the next session was just a poorly veiled plot to assassinate the pope? I don't remember the details but it was a wild ride.

casually thinking about how Rahadin killed Kasimir in my CoS game because he knew what Kasimir was planning to do after securing his deal in the Amber Temple, and he also knew that a revived Patrina meant trouble for Nimalia once it was time to make her move for Strahd's throne and that simply WILL NOT DO.

but also he absolutely heard Kasimir flirting with Nimalia in the temple and was like that's it, he's gotta die.

Been meaning to post this for a while now, but I figured Layle's birthday was a good enough time to post it. My buddy made a pic of my DnD party, with a placement somewhat reminiscent of Holomyth's song Non-Fiction (hence the lyrics at the start).

The boy at the top with the wings is Sekhemet 'Seth' Cooper, the party healer. The robo girl with the cool hood and floating gears is Aegis, the warlock. The slime guy is Gambol Reagent, the rogue. The little dude is Meepo, the stars druid (ft. his awakened pet mouse, Kosj the Mighty, a Dragon monk). And the dude in the power armor with the burning hammer is Mason Drakeus, the fighter (I play both Mason and Seth since we needed a healer, but I already made a fleshed out backstory for Mason).

I'm trying to find neat lil house rules for dnd but literally every list I've found so far is like "section one: rules that make the game not fun. section two: rules that i have not thought out"

dnd is awesome cuz i don’t have a reasonable excuse to be drawing my warlock in a maid dress but Also we haven’t started the campaign yet and sitting idle is my worst enemy.. so maybe i do have an excuse?
