"Auruderma" The Sacred Armor of the Axi: A Bastion of Raw Strength
I may posted this already, though this time I've finally came up with a name for the golden armor embedded with magic channeling emerald gems Axi are known to wear. It also includes the Feymail and its functions again, I go into detail on its relation to the Auruderma armor this time.
Hope you enjoy the read!
The armor is forged from glinting pure, strengthened Aurum, known for its unmatched durability and ability to conduct magical energies. The Aurum is enchanted during the forging process, heavily infusing it with arcane power.
Each piece of armor is intricately carved with runes and wards. These runes amplify the wearer’s arcane powers, enhancing their ability to channel the Alkanine cells. The wards provide protection against malignant forces and demonic entities, making the wearer a bulwark on the battlefield.
The armor is crafted by the finest blacksmiths and enchanters of the Rubellyn Feywild, who possess ancient knowledge of both physical and magical artisanship.
Alkanine Amplification
The Armor enhances the wearer’s arcane abilities, allowing them to channel their Alkanine essence more effectively. This amplification makes their elemental attacks more potent and defenses more robust.
The wards and runes also provide defense against the harsh environments of other planes, specifically the hells and realms consumed by absolute darkness. This protection ensures that the Axi can continue fighting under most conditions.
Axi Inscribed Armor “Auruderma” & Fyro-Mail (Fey-mail)
Heavily enchanted and imbued armor, made from glinting pure strengthened gold, Aurum, carved and forged with runes and wards. Amplifying the Axi’s Arcane powers and helps channel their Alkanine cells. Making the wearer an absolute bulwark against malignant forces and demonic entities. The wards and runes also aid in the defense against certain hellish environments of other planes so that they can continue fighting wherever they may end up. However, not anyone can simply wear this armor without prior enhancements like an Axi, nor does this armor turn the tables of war if the one wearing the armor isn’t as efficient, precise and immensely skilled in combat themselves. But it does further the capabilities and versatility of an Axi warrior, amplifying their Alkanine gene and synchronizes to their “Fyro-mail”, mailing woven together that acts as external dermal carapace for an Axi. Fyro-mail or by denizens of the Feywild, “Fey-mail”, creates a seamless synchronized connection to the Axi armor. Dense Fyro-Mail or Fey-mail is a type of enchanted chainmail that Axi warriors wear beneath their Auruderma armor. This chainmail is woven with magical threads from the Feywild, allowing it to interface with the wearer’s body. Acting as an extra layer of skin, providing additional protection and creating a more intimate relationship between the warrior and their armor. Fey-mail also works in tandem with Axi warrior's Alkanine genes.
The Axi Fey-mail and Golden Inscribed Armor are remarkable feats of Rubellyn craftsmanship, Symbolizing the perfect union of organic material and arcane technology. These armaments are as much a part of the Axi warriors as their very flesh and blood, enhancing their combat abilities while forging an intimate, almost symbiotic relationship between the warrior and their armor.
The Fey-mail's effectiveness lies in its unique integration with the Axi warrior’s central nervous system. Upon donning the armor, ethereal tendrils link into the warrior’s neural pathways, establishing a direct and intimate connection. However, this process is far from gentle. An excruciating and torturous shockwave is sent throughout the body, akin to being stabbed and electrocuted simultaneously.
This integration allows the armor to respond instantaneously to the warrior’s thoughts and reflexes, becoming an extension of their own body. The initial shockwave, like pins and needles, stabs and electrocutes the nerves, establishing a deep, almost painful connection that heightens the warrior’s awareness and reflexes. The Fey-mail constantly monitors the wearer’s physical condition and adjusts its properties to provide support where needed, reinforcing areas of high stress or injury.
Auruderma – Rubellyn Aurumplating
“The iconic golden inscribed armor worn by fully realized and rebirthed Axi warriors.”
The Inscribed Auruderma of the Axi warriors is more than just protective gear; it is alive, moving with efficiency and adapting to the warrior’s needs. Forged from enchanted fey-bark – a toughened tree bark from the Feywild trees – the Golden Armor is both resilient and flexible, providing superior protection and agility. The Auruderma acts as reinforced dermal plating, enhancing the Fey-mail's protective capabilities. The fey-bark is enchanted to be incredibly tough yet flexible, allowing the armor to absorb and deflect various forms of damage.
The armor is enchanted with runes that synchronize with the Fey-mail's neural tendrils embedded in the wearer, ensuring that every movement is perfectly coordinated. This magical synchronization allows the armor to adapt its form and function in response to the warrior’s needs.
“Axi do not simply wear or wield their armaments, they are, by extension, their armament.” – Zenith General Arkadius Aximand, First Among Axi
The union of the Fey-mail and Golden Armor, “Auruderma”, grants the Axi warrior’s remarkable adaptive capabilities. The armor can modify its structure and properties to suit different combat scenarios, providing optimal protection and efficiency. The armor can change its configuration in real-time, shifting plates and adjusting its shape to offer maximum protection and mobility. Similar in nature to that of the shifting planes of Rubellyn. For example, it can extend additional plating to shield vulnerable areas or retract sections to allow for greater freedom of movement. The Fey-mail can also adapt to the environment, altering its surface to blend in with surroundings or resist specific environmental hazards such as extreme heat, cold, or corrosive substance.
The relationship between Fey-mail and the Axi warriors extends to their weaponry as well. The same neural and magical synchronization that controls the armor enhances the warriors’ use of their weapons. Axi weapons are designed with similar neural interfaces, allowing them to be wielded with extraordinary precision and force. This integration means that the weapons feel like extensions of the warrior's limbs, responding to their thoughts and intentions.
The Fey-mail can channel magical energies into the weapons, amplifying their power. This allows Axi warriors to unleash devastating attacks that combine physical prowess with arcane might. The Axi Fyromail or Feymail, and Inscribed Auruderma represent the pinnacle of Axi craftsmanship and fey magic. Their integration with the warrior’s central nervous system and synchronization with enchanted fey-bark create a harmonious blend of technology and nature. This intimate connection allows the Axi to move, fight and react as one, embodying the perfect blend of elven grace and formidable martial prowess. The initial shockwave upon donning the armor serves as a stark reminder of the symbiotic relationship between the warrior and their equipment, forging a bond that is both powerful and painful.

I see on that straw page thing one of your current obsessions is BG3
This is your sign to gush about ur tav go!
Yeeeeah. My friend introduced me to this game and I haven't been the same since XD. It's really addicting and it's like my first experience with DnD so I'm having a lot of fun with it. I haven't finished the game yet though, I'm on the third act.
Tumblr media
I can gush about my BG3 baby for hours (probably because that's my first character there). In short, just a chaotic little bean who's maybe still a bit of a cultist at heart.

the more i dm vs play other ttrpgs the more frustrated i get with how npcs work in 5e. my game centers around a small town with a recurring cast of npcs, as well as newly introduced npcs each arc that my players frequently adopt, and every time i open my Documents (tone: weary) filled with npcs i just wish 5e npcs were Built Different(tm) to pcs. obviously theres statblocks and stuff you can use but if youre working under the assumption these npcs are Full People who are going to take up space in the pcs lives youre going to be building them like you would a pc and frankly it sucks for a couple reasons
one, if i want to introduce a new batch of npcs of a level that will prove imposing for my pcs to fight, it shouldnt take me 10 hours to make them. two, once the fight is happening it would be great if they didnt have so many abilities and spells that im just hoping and praying i can make them function even a little smartly without grinding the whole fight to a halt every time its a spellcasters turn
and third, which i think deserves its own paragraph(s), i wish npcs didnt have the same set of skills that pcs get
i like trying to give my guys, pcs or npcs alike, pretty high mods on things, bc, you know, good for the game and also big numbers fun. but some skills are either inherently useless for an npc to have, or imply a loss of player agency if i was rolling them
like, charisma skills. deception is really useful for an npc to have, because then pcs have to roll insight against it to learn information. persuasion, however, is not something an npc should really ever roll. if theyre rolling persuasion on a pc, that player is experiencing a loss of agency over how their pc reacts to a request. if theyre rolling it on another npc, youre now just playing dollies with yourself while the pcs watch. if im ever choosing between persuasion and deception for an npc, im always going to give them proficiency in deception even if that makes less sense for their character. same problem for intimidation. either youre telling the pcs how to feel or playing dollies with yourself
stealth and sleight of hand are overall way more helpful for npcs than for pcs who arent rogues. and perception is far more useful for an npc to have than like ... survival. when are your npcs going to be rolling survival? if you have a ranger or ranger-like character whos helping your pcs navigate wilderness then why does it make more sense for them to be rolling survival and potentially mess up something they are meant to be good at, causing potentially unfun complications for your party, than just ... knowing that character can help them navigate, so they do? especially if thats the reason that npc is there?
idk like my players respond very well to the npcs being Full People and i do think theres a level of enjoyment to like. comparing pc and npc stats or players learning what feats an npc took or lore around subclasses but also. also im so miserly and decrepit and my google doc of my four bad guys this arc and their spells is 59 pages long im Tired Save Me

Minthara's usual writing style is very businesslike. and Afaleon has a habit of writing large letters filled with feelings, even if it is a response to her usual “things are going according to plan, next week I will be in the N city”. Perhaps, in his letters he is even more emotional than in reality, so at first this put Minthara in a stupor. But she fell in love with this feature of his, because even being separated by a great distance, thanks to his letters, she knows what he think about her and think with love.

Jhulqira's Role and Axi Creation
Axi Creation, Genetic Alteration and Training
The creation process begins in large, plantlike gestational pods resembling enormous flowers filled with alchemical elixirs and Feywild flora extracts. These pods nurture Aximand Axia embryos, infusing them with powerful arcane energy and genetic enhancements. Some Aximand Axia are selected as recruits at birth, usually from two Aelvaren Warrior parents, preferably veterans.
Mental Conditioning
Recruits undergo excruciating mental conditioning to purge fears, attachments and weaknesses. Jhulqira, the Drow bio-alchemist employs tortuous methods using alchemical potions, torturous instruments and psychological manipulation, turning them into living weapons capable of withstanding the horrors of war.
The Process
“Fascinating, how one’s spirit shivers and falters when the mind is suddenly compromised.” – Jhulqira Frier’athen
Deep within the labyrinthine confines of Jhulqira’s laboratory lies the Chamber of Scrutiny. This dark, foreboding room is where the most harrowing of his experiments take place. The walls are lined with arcane symbols and enchanted crystals that amplify the mental energies within.
At The center of the chamber stands an intricate apparatus designed to interface directly with the mind of the recruit. The apparatus consists of a series of enchanted needles and conduits that connect to the recruit’s head, allowing Jhulqira to delve into their deepest thoughts and memories.
Jhulqira begins by activating the apparatus, sending tendrils of arcane energy and electricity into the recruit’s mind. These tendrils crawl through the synapses, seeking any traces of vulnerability, anxiety, or even corruption. The recruit screams and convulses as their mind is exposed throughout the agonizingly painful procedure.
The mental agony can lead some recruits to insanity, leaving them as shriveled shells, frothing and babbling at the lips. These unfortunate souls are then cast into the wild planes of the Feywild, where they are likely to be processed, recycled and absorbed by the realm itself. To Jhulqira, he see this as a way to give back the feywild, though he only says this to alleviate the concerns of those of the Feywild.
Those with the mental fortitude to grit their teeth, endure and survive this harrowing process are not yet free. They find themselves tested again facing more trials that would challenge even the most hardened veteran soldiers. These trials are designed to push their mental, physical, and magical abilities to the absolute limit, ensuring that only the strongest and most resilient recruits become Axi warriors.

I’m so excited to play my newest dnd character. He works at a library and is so so cursed.
I think for a while I was avoiding making purely “self indulgent” characters but this time I asked my dm how best I could include cosmic horror during our session zero and she literally switched to a premade slide in her campaign presentation about great old ones. So we stay winning.
