DND: NPC and Sidequest The feywild is leaking into the world, this is creating problems for individuals on both planes. Aust Varun is one such individual. He is an Eladrin Shopkeep whose inventory was scattered when a fey circle opened in the middle of his shop, including a mysterious glowing egg that he is very interested in having returned. He offers the party a reward for locating his lost inventory.
Should they collect his inventory and return it he will grant them a gold reward and discounted at his shop. However should they collect his inventory and fail to return it then they will have made a powerful enemy and the fey do not forget. When finding the mysterious glowing egg you could choose to have the party roll a D4: 1- They find glowing eggshells in two jagged pieces. 2- As they hold the egg the warmth of their hands or breath causes it to shudder in their hands 3- The egg appears to be perfectly normal, well as far as a dimly glowing egg can be. 4- This is an enchanted chicken egg, a forgery created by someone who reached the egg before the party.

Master Post of My Fave NPCs in My Campaign:
Old Man Riddles
(Can appear anywhere and it'll make sense)
Entire deal is he sits in a puddle of mud splashing about and throws mud at the party if they get a riddle wrong
Chester
(Again can appear anywhere without explanation)
A mimic that talks! He takes the form of a chest, you throw 10 gold into his mouth and he spits out a random, maybe useful potion. He does not know what any of the potions do
Sofa
Chester's best friend. Essentially a dog. Licks everything, but mimics are adhesive so he gets stuck to things a lot.
The Meat Traders
(Found on the road)
Curse by the meat witch to trade meat for meat. They can ONLY accept meat in payment and only have meat to trade.
Frat Boy Doomsday Cult
Having a massive rager to celebrate the end of the world. The world doesn't end. They fight with lacrosse sticks
Billy McGee
Local old man that does tours of the catacombs. All of his ancestors are in the your, having died of riding animals such as "2 dragons". When asked how they were riding multiple animals at once, his answer is "badly"
Thray
(Owns Thray's Curiousities)
Gay vampire that runs an Antiques Store. Refuses to uncurse the cursed items cause they're more fun the way they are. Beefs with all other arcane practitioners, currently banned from the wizards uni.
I'll add more as I remember more

fuck it wxs dnd
emu is a bard. idk what else to say to that. she plays kazoo. any time she casts a spell she gets to make funny noises which is the best thing ever to her
tsukasa wanted to be one too untill he chose paladin because he learned he can both be a cool hero with a sword AND have magic (he put his highest stat as charisma without even thinking about how the game works because "its just like him fr")
rui is the dm but if he was a player he would probably be an artificer for obvious reasons
actually scratch that rui is a sorcerer 100%. ive changed my mind. or a multiclass of both. but more sorcerer.
nene is the only one besides rui that actually knows how to play well so she has the best thought out character in terms of build, i can see her playing either a rogue or warlock. maybe multiclass of these 2. cant explain why just vibes tbh.
nenes the strongest but struggles with breaking character because rui (as an npc) keeps suggesting ridiculous ideas to emu and she wants to go along with them no questions asked. tsukasa isnt pleased with this either but he plays along anyway because its harmless and makes emu and rui happy. nene after some time just starts going along with this too but is always careful and weary just in case.
emu is constantly confused about the rules and before anything she does she confirms with nene, which she happily helps her with and is also probably the one keeping track of emus spell slots cause those are most confusing for her.
tsukasa keeps showing off to any npc that compliments him and if they dont get a rest hes out of spells slots before a battle can even start (his character gets more humble as the game progresses since at the start he didnt know spells can run out so quickly)
rui is enjoying the chaos hes creating because everyones having fun and uses the game as inspo for their next play :3

Hello! I adore your art, you're really incredible! I was wondering if it was okay for me to use your art for a character in a dnd game I'm playing (with credit ofc)? It's just among friends and nowhere else but it felt right to ask to be sure. Either way, love everything you do, it's always a pleasure when you pop up on my dash!
Hi!! Thank you so much!
And it might depend!;u;
What art would it be? Would it be just as inspo for a npc?
If its one of my OCs or one of my own dnd characters, I would prefer not.;u;

To anyone who ever gets stuck making D&D characters, here are some ideas to steal
a changling who is pretending to be a different race. (Neither the party nor the other players know)
A warlock who is in a romantic relationship with their patron
A cleric that is actually a minor god who accidentally switched bodies with one of their clerics, and both cleric and god are trying to figure out how to switch back
A bard who is based on a non musical performance medium (a poet, an artist, a mime, etc.)
A dad who is getting into adventuring because his child is an adventurer and he wants to take an interest in their interest
Spellcaster who is always carrying a small animal into combat, just to finally reveal the animal is actually the spellcaster
A bloodhunter Dhampire who needs to suck peoples blood (or if that’s gross for you you can choose one of the other options for what dhampires crave) to use their abilities
Evil wizard who was tricked into drinking a potion that gave them a Conscience so now they feel bad when they try doing evil shit
A really scary looking Goliath who struggles with talk to people with the goal of making 100 friends
A hardened warrior who has only ever known the horrors of war, who is now trying to learn how to live in a time of peace

I figured out how to run this with a fresh party, since OP Squinky is tied to a specific party history, and losing the "you created this villain" would take a lot of the shine off:
The first quest is to help a small child find their lost pet. The poor thing's wandered into a dungeon! have them find the animal recently killed, and make sure the party has access to a spell that can revive it - put a scroll or smth in the dungeon if they don't have it in their spell lists. A good way to subtly encourage them to have it is to let them start at a level where they can cast it and then emphasize that the campaign has a high lethality rate. Emphasize the joy in the child's eyes when they return the revived pet.
Go off and do a different adventure. Meanwhile, that kid has taken up their own adventuring career, and they're studying necromancy so they can help other people the way you helped Squinky! (if the players didn't say he was revived then the kid can have found out through some other way - maybe even a speak with animals spell!)
Have them run into this greenhorn and their animal companion. Make sure the kid is helpful and not annoying or the party won't like them. It's important that the party likes them, and the best way to make sure players bond with an NPC is to have that NPC be useful, or have them always arrive with Fun Times.
Each time they meet Squinky's owner, Squinky's looking a bit more beat up. But Squinky's owner doesn't seem like they're being *unkind* to squinky; they give squinky everything he needs, and clearly they love this creature a lot.
Then the party stops seeing squinky's owner around. If the party doesn't notice or thinks you just forgot these characters, have NPCs in towns remark on the apparent disappearance.
Then they start hearing rumours of problems with necromantic magic not working right, or maybe they get a call for aid from a dwarven necropolis whose ancestor-shrines have been defaced.
Once they start poking around, a druid reaches out to them. They have an idea who might be behind this...
