I'm just starting to learn to DM...and boy am I enjoying it!

I'm not sure why I didn't start to learn earlier. I haven't played much because it's always been trouble trying to find a DM.

So, I guess I want to ask...why don't people like to DM? (Just so I can know things ahead of time to avoid burnout :) )

I love being a DM at my rpg table, it's amazing to create worlds for my friends to explore, laugh, kill innocent goblins and in the meantime give them lots of traumas and trust issues... it's good to be a DM... really good

remembering the one and only time i dmed and my brother (playing a tortle barbarian level 2) rolled a nat20 on the killing blow so i told him he could choose how he wanted to kill the villain, n he made his character bite through the villains eye n snap shut on its brainstem, crushing the skull. man i miss him

TUMBLR!!! I need your help. I've been cooking up a plot to a dnd campaign where my party is a heist group in a wild west style setting, and my guy is a cowboy whose running buddy got caught by some orc bandits and then he made a deal where if he got 2,000 gold, he could get his friend back but another thing he kept from them is that he made another deal where he brings in 500 gold and a few people to work for them and eventually be eaten or sold off. I've been thinking of approaching the DnD club host at my high school, but I'm pretty sure it'd get shut down almost immediately for the twist. I want to be the dm, but at the same time, I want to be the cowboy guy who gets their help for the job that gets the "2,000" gold and then sets up an ambush for them to fall into. Should I just do it on my own for a first-time DnD experience or get someone experienced but likely to shut it down?
