ooo how would ce characters react if you started decorating for autumn in august? 🤭
Ya know, right off the bat, I can't think of anyone who's downright against it, but some of them would help and some would just leave you to it. One--take a wild guess--would throw an incredible bitch-fit if he tripped over one gd thing in his way, but otherwise...
Um, there's some language but nothing adult-specific.
Tumblr media
Most Into Autumn Decor--Curtis Everett
Okay, there's a reason I worded it that way, but I was a bit surprised, too. I would not be able to tell you if this somehow wasn't influenced by @sweater-daddiesdumbdork's "Life Is Short So Make It Sweet" series, but I truly believe Curtis would be equally into decorating for fall/autumn with you. He'd be the most active in finding decor, too, whether he's shopping with you there or just finding stuff randomly. He'd take the time to plan out and execute a whole thing in the house, and he would get the most joy out of sitting in the warm glow.
Honorable Mentions to James Mace, Johnny Storm, and Ransom Drysdale.
Mace will get into it but not as much as Curtis and for a shorter period of time. You best believe Johnny digs the campfire-and-s'mores vibes but is wary of shit hanging from the ceiling or dry stuff piled on the floor. Ransom is obviously into dressing for the season but also likes to find the most expensive version of all decor, so those beautiful, blown-glass pumpkins are a staple. Ran is perfectly fine if you want to repaint the damn walls every couple months to match the mood; he's fine with it, but he doesn't expend much effort.
Most Indifferent--Jimmy Dobyne
He doesn't hate the season by any means. He's fine with the colors. He likes when you're happy, so if the house needs to be packed with pumpkins and fairylights and shit, okay. Don't expect him to really participate in it, and don't bring rotting leaves into the house. Real pumpkins are for eating or outside.
The other reason he doesn't really care is that Jimmy spends most days outdoors for work and whatnot. He sorta just...sees autumn the whole time it's autumn, and that is enough for him.
*Most Into Halloween Decor--Jake Jensen
If you were wondering why I didn't mention Jake earlier it's because he is miles above Curtis's enthusiasm for one specific thing: spooky shit.
Jake isn't afraid to go all-out. He will make the entire house, the yard, the gd neighborhood if they let him, into a haunted experience. This is, unfortunately, to the point where you have slipped on fake blood before and bruised your tailbone. Jake is now limited to the week of Halloween itself for the more dangerous accoutrements like liquids and sharp blades. Knives and weapons stay in shadowboxes or cabinets otherwise.
No, he will not be taking questions about why they aren't the fake, safe kinds. Just let him have this.
**I don't have a name for the superlative that Lloyd Hansen wins but he is the most obsessed with curating *his look* seasonally.
Yes, I even mean more so than our sweater boi Ransom...
Lloyd is also the man who flips the fuck out if a room or the yard is littered with stuff to decorate. If it's a mess (even for a little while) he thinks it all looks trashy and can't stand that, so you gotta be kinda stealth or methodical about doing it.
Most Into DIY Decor--Ari Levinson
Project? Did someone say project???? Ari's there, tools ready, let's go.
Ari's the man who has a shed or garage full of stuff for all occasions. Sure, there are a lot of power tools and mechanic things, but he's also kept track of all the art supplies, cleaned up that hot-glue gun and twist-tied the cord nicely, and sorted everything into bins or some of the drawers in his shelves. Nails and screws for all sorts. Wall anchors if necessary. He keeps a stash of those papertowel rolls for kids projects. Tissue paper and bags for gift wrapping. He doesn't go so far as to color-code it or anything, but it's grouped together and neatly stowed away. He is always willing to participate in building something new, even if it's silly little paper things.
Most Into Autumn Activities--Steve Rogers
I don't think Steve has any issue with early sprucing for the season, but he is definitely planning where the apple-picking and pumpkin patches are and when to go. There may be fourteen different hay rides and corn mazes to get through, but don't worry, he's got a schedule! He's rewashed the thermoses for hot cocoa at the ready. He bought another stack of pie tins just in case. He printed off several new recipes to try this year, and the ones from last year have hand-written notes in the margins of what to adjust this time. So, yup, hang onto your butts because it's gonna get real busy in a few weeks...
Thank you for asking!
Tumblr media
Damnit, these are so amazingly fun. Keep 'em coming!!

🎃
AO3
🎃
Anthony Howard Stark was not only your roommate but also a childhood friend. You were practically siblings at this point as both his parents were too busy for him and he spend nearly all day with you. In college you sure lost contact but after you reconciled, there was no drifting away again. You lived on your own until your landlord kicked you out. Tony insisted you live with him and his boyfriend Steve Rogers. Living with them was interesting, Steve was quite the opposite of Tony. You shared similarities with Steve more than you did with Tony. Their anniversary was coming up and hence you and Steve decided to throw a big surprise party.  Nothing better than to align the party with that of Halloween. The plan was simple, Steve will take Tony out for a long extravagant vacation while you would stay back to decorate and plan for the Halloween anniversary. It was a perfect idea. Costumes, sweets, drinks and celebration of love.
As planned three weeks prior the Halloween Steve took Tony to Paris. Tony being Tony he wanted you to join and was quite adamant until you played I feel so single with you card. You began by simple decorations. You some flowers to begin with. While you coming home your attention was captured by the neighboring villa.
You hadn’t seen anyone but the house seemed clean. You had always tried asking about the owner but Tony brushed you off. Today for some reason you felt drawn to the house. You placed a flower by the main door and left whistling away a tune you had caught not paying attention to the shadow that moved.
You began working on the flowers and other simple DIY projects. The movement outside the kitchen window though caught your attention. A guy was working in his backyard. It was strange considering you never saw anyone. Curiously you went out and called out for the person.
“Hi! Um... I never saw anyone work here.”
The guy stopped for a brief moment and turned towards you.
He smiled. “I am Frank. Frank Castle. I own this place. My timings of work are different and maybe that’s why we never ran into one another. I like working outdoors, so on my day offs I work here.” He offered another smile.
You smiled back. He looked handsome. Sweat covering his body and yet he looked mesmerizing. He had tattoos. By his built he looked like he was in army or in similar line of work.
“Do come over if you feel like. You do look like you could use a lemonade.”
Frank chuckled. “Surely. Wouldn’t decline such a sweet offer by a beautiful lady.”
Your face heater up. You offered a smile and quickly went in preparing the drink. Frank knocked at the back door soon after. He took in the interior and overall kitchen décor.
“You have an elegant taste.” He complimented.
“Oh all this is Tony. He is very good in making any place look royal and luxurious.” You said admiring your friend’s work.
“Lucky husband Mr. Tony.” Frank said with a stone cold face.
“Oh no, we’re not married. He is with Steve. They’re the couple I’m just an awkward third wheel who they adopted.” You said jokingly. You surely missed them being around.
And just like that, the smile and spark returned Frank’s eyes. He mirrored your smile. “Still lucky to have you.”
For a brief moment you looked in one another’s eyes. A shy smile hugging both your faces. It was near close to a beautiful moment when your phone rang.
“Oh this must be Steve!” you exclaimed.
You began talking to Steve missing the look on Frank’s face.
Frank was immediately enchanted by you. You were the fresh breath of air he desperately needed. A ray of sunshine he lost years ago. He wanted to have you. He wanted to have you with all the passion, desire, lust and love he had inside of him. And he was going to get you.
“You guys should enjoy and not worry about me. Our lovely neighbor is here for a drink. He’s very sweet and I’m sure you guys will like him. Now I gotta go. It’ll be rude to keep him waiting.” You hung up leaving Steve in pit full of questions as to how did the poor old bedridden Fury managed to come in for a drink.
“They worry about me. Steve and Tony. It’s after a long time I’m going to be living alone without them for 3 weeks. They’ll be back on Halloween.” You rambled.
“Oh good. We have plenty time to get to know each other.” Frank smiled.
🎃
The following days were spent decorating and talking to various bakers and restaurants who would be available for catering. You insisted Frank to join you in the taste tour but he declined every time. He was reserved and denied meeting anyone other than you, you figured. If you were not decorating you were spending time with him at either your place or his. Eventually you began spending nights in each other’s arms.
Frank whispered sweet nothings in your ears as he made love to you. At a point you thought it was too early to be doing this, but then, Steve had always said love hugs us out of nowhere and it the most comforting thing. So may be this was it.
🎃
Maria hill was a nurse appointed for Mr. Fury. She would at times come at your place for a quick chit chat and even had an extra key of your place. And like every time, Maria used her key, except this time she wasn’t greeted by your bubbly self. She called out your name.
You were upstairs kissing Frank when you heard Maria. As usual Frank quieted down.  You grabbed his shirt and went down to greet her.
As soon as you arrived Maria’s smile faded. She gave you a weird look and was about to ask you something but your usual self, distracted her.
“You are invited to Halloween Anniversary party!” by now you knew Frank got uncomfortable when you told about him to people. It seemed little unfair but you knew what he might feel. You yourself were shy person until you met Tony. Because of him you opened up a little and eventually you were more open to meeting new people. You hoped you could be same for Frank.
Maria had never seen you this happy before. Sure you were happy, but this time you were content. She ignored everything and you both engaged in conversation as usual. She left leaving you alone with Frank.
“When should we tell them?” you asked pulling him close.
“Anniversary night? Sounds good?” He smiled, kissing you.
You smiled back.
🎃
Halloween day
Tony and Steve were to arrive in the evening you were busy with last minute preparations. At this moment you were not thinking about Frank. You were excited to meet and celebrate with Tony and Steve. You had called everyone around 6 PM so you still had half an hour before the guests arrived. And Tony and Steve’s flight was late so they were to arrive by 6:30 PM. For the last time you were checking if everything was in the place and your eye caught Frank’s house. All the lights were out. You remembered him telling he didn’t like decorating his house for Halloween but just because you had carved a pumpkin he decided to keep it on his window. That pumpkin was missing too.
You tried calling him but the no response. In fact the lady said the number you’re calling is switched off. You were worried and hence you decided to go look for him.
To your surprise the front door was locked and so was his back door. Million thoughts ran in your head. But you remembered him showing you the secret passage to his house that opened in the backyard. You went in through the passage. It was dusty and filled with cobweb. As Frank had told you the passage opened in his basement. Although scared you found a way upstairs. You didn’t expect what you saw.
The inside looked like no one lived there for over a decade. No cute sofa covers, no decorative no nothing you witnessed with Frank. The walls had mold, furniture was broken and there was a peculiar sting. Nothing you remembered was there. It was like you hallucinated the three weeks. You were shivering and sweating at the same time. Your eyes watered and lips quivered. Suddenly the basement door behind you closed making you jump in fear.
A part of you wanted to run. A part of you wanted to find answers. You choose the latter. You roamed around the house looking for some sense of familiarity. Looking for answers. The sting grew stronger now. You opened the door only to be greeted by horror.
On the bed lay Frank. Half decomposed wearing the shirt he often wore claiming to be his favorite one.
Your screamed was silenced by the sight before you.
Your feet somehow dragged you back but you tripped and fell down the stairs losing your conscious. You woke up to greeted by the darkness. Your first instinct was to grab the phone and call for help. Your blurred vision was strong enough to let you know your phone had died. With a thumping headache you tried to get up on your wobbly legs. When the memory came back to you, you made a run for the door. You ran out from the main door towards the gate only to re-enter from the backyard. Your head was still woozy you thought. So you ran in the house, again to the main door from there to the gate. Once more you ended up coming to the backdoor.
You began crying. But you decided not to give up. You went up to the backyard wall you shared with your house and tried climbing up the wall. Jumping on your side of the yard you still ended up being in Frank’s yard. You did it again and again and again until you gave up and cried in frustration.
You were trapped.
“I know the feeling.” Came Frank’s voice.
You looked up at him. He was standing before you in flesh and bones. Although his face was mutilated. Like his head was shot with a gun.
He came close to you, giving you a hand to get up. You flinched moving away from him.
“Please just let me go. I won’t tell anyone. I promise.” you begged.
He only chuckled.
“Can’t do anything munchkin.” He called you by your pet name. “This...” he gestured around. “Is not me.”
Frank began walking back into the house. “You can stay there all night running in the circles or you can see your friends for the last time.” He said as he walked off.
You were confused now more than ever. You followed Frank. “What do you mean?” you asked angrily. “Answer me!” you demanded when he didn’t give an answer. “What did you…” your eyes fell where Frank was standing.
Your body was been taken away by paramedics. While Steve and Tony hugged each other and cried. You looked outside there was ambulance, police and all your friends who were supposed to attend the party. Tears filled your eyes. You tried hugging both your friends for one last time but all they could do was shiver. Steve held Tony in his arms and walked away. You walked with them till the gate. Where you heard the cops tell them the death was due to falling down the stairs and impact on your head. You cried harder knowing no one will hear you. You tried following Steve and Tony but they moved ahead leaving you entering the backyard again.
Your legs gave up. You hugged yourself and cried, Frank being the only one to hear you and comfort you. As much as it broke him to see you like this, he was happy he wasn’t going to be alone. He had you. And eventually you would accept your fate just like he did.

MERROCK TASK #1 ALL ABOUT AUTUMN & HALLOWEEN
What’s your character’s fall aesthetic like, are they more into the spooky season, or do they like the cozy feeling of fall? Jason's definitely more into the cozy feeling of fall. He lives for the changing of the seasons, the orange and gold, the crisp breeze. Even the foods and the fashion... if he cared about fashion.
How does your character feel about the Halloween holiday? It's there, for what it's worth. He doesn't normally dress up for Halloween or to go any parties, but he has arranged a few trick-or-treat opportunities for kids in the parks he's worked in. For the most part, that's sort of the thing: he thinks it's for kids.
When it comes to Halloween weekend, are they more likely to go to a Halloween party, or stay at home handing out candy? Definitely more the type to stay at home and hand out candy. He plans on doing that this year.
If your character had to be any mythical creature, what would they be, and why? Probably a werewolf. It would be a pretty good excuse to run wild through the woods and howl at the moon. Without being judged!
What is your character’s favorite go-to Halloween movie? Not really into Halloween movies all that much -- mostly because he doesn't watch a lot of movies, period. But he does watch the standards whenever he catches them on streaming.
What is your character’s favorite kind of Halloween candy? Candy corn. As controversial as that might be.
What was your character’s favorite Halloween costume that they’ve ever worn? Smokey the Bear... as an adult, entertaining kids at a party at the state park.
When it does come to costumes, in general, does your character go the do-it-yourself route, or are they more into buying something? The few times that he has dressed up for Halloween, it's always been simple, DIY stuff that he could take care of himself, but he has bought costumes in the past.
On the spooky side, does your character believe in ghosts? No, not really. He's not into the paranormal.
What animal screams ‘Halloween season to your character? Or makes them think of autumn? Bats -- definitely bats. But living so near the woods, there are a lot. Bears, wolves, coyotes, foxes, but those bats normally always make him think about the Halloween season and fall.
What hot beverage does your character reach for on a chilly day when they just want to warm up a little bit? Coffee; not necessarily flavored, just hot coffee.
And what about food? Is there a certain treat that they have to have in the fall? Nothing in particular, but he is very fond of baked goods. Cinnamon rolls, apple dumplings, a pumpkin roll, all of it.
Pumpkin spice everything – yay or nay? Eh. He's not against it, so he wouldn't say nay, but he doesn't necessarily reach for it.
Pick the weather – is it a windy fall afternoon, or a rainy autumn evening? Windy fall afternoon, for the most part. He can still be outside hiking, or exploring, or just sitting somewhere to relax. But he can see the pros of a rainy autumn evening, too, as long as he can spend it indoors with a good book.
What is your character’s favorite fall scent? Something that really sets the mood? Cinnamon apple. It just reminds him of fall, both because of the foods associated with it, and also the fact that so many people burn those candles this time of year.
When it comes to fall and Halloween, does your character go all out with decorations, or do they prefer to keep it simple? Or don’t decorate at all? Simple -- he does decorate, but it's a piece or two that he buys locally to put out on a counter or hanging above his bed. He might not have a lot of room to decorate, but he does like to make his space feel as festive as possible.
Favorite autumn related activity to do during the season? Hiking. He also enjoys camping, or horseback riding, or taking a bike out, anything that lets him be outdoors and enjoying the weather.
There’s a pumpkin in front of your character… what are they going to do? Paint it? Carve it? What will they make it look like? Probably carve it, definitely with a standard, traditional face that looks like the kind of thing that you see on social media posts. But he also would just leave some pumpkins be on his porch.
Is there a certain song that your character hears that just screams 'Halloween’? Thriller by Michael Jackson.
The leaves are falling. Is your character more likely to rake them, or let them lay in the yard? Definitely let them lay. Not only does it make the space look more aesthetically pleasing for fall, there are a number of benefits that come from leaving the leaves go -- and letting the grass grow, as well. Good home for lightning bugs and other favorite insects!
When it comes to fall fashion, is your character more into sweatshirts and sweatpants, or skinny jeans and warm sweaters? Warm sweaters, for sure. He tends to just wear jeans and sweaters or jeans and a warm jacket. He's fond of layering so he can adjust what he's wearing, whether it's getting colder or warmer at any point in time.
What about color palette, is there a certain color that your character reaches for in the closet when fall rolls around? Most of Jason's wardrobe tends to fall into the 'autumn' palette; oranges, browns, reds, greens, some jewel tones. He's not really picky. He has a lot of brown, heavy jackets, as well as boots.
Does your character get scared easily? Do they feel more on edge this time of year? Kind of, but that's the PTSD talking. Maybe, introspectively, that's why he doesn't really like Halloween all that much; there's so much bloodshed and horror in the world, he doesn't need to seek it out one day a year. He does, knowing that, try to stay away from all of it.
Let’s light the fire – where is it? Are we talking indoor fireplace, or outdoor campfire? Outdoor campfire. Someday, he'll have a home where he can have a wood-burning fireplace, but in the meantime, he's alright with lighting the campfire outside.
Probably the toughest question that they could be asked… is your character more of an apple or pumpkin pie person? Apple, probably, but if it's pie, he might make an exception. Pumpkin pie is pretty damn good.

Whimsical Halloween Gnomes with Trick or Treat Magic
Halloween is no longer just about pumpkins and skeletons; it’s evolving with adorable additions like Halloween gnomes. These tiny, bearded figures dressed in spooky attire are the new trend sweeping seasonal decor. They bring a whimsical charm that bridges the gap between spooky and sweet. For trick-or-treat enthusiasts, Halloween gnomes offer a fresh way to celebrate.
Tumblr media
Adding a gnome or two to your Halloween setup creates a playful ambiance. Their mischievous grins and themed costumes add personality to your porch or indoor decor. Paired with trick-or-treat elements like candy bowls or lanterns, these gnomes create a scene that kids and adults adore.
Halloween Gnomes as Storytellers
Halloween gnomes with trick or treat themes are not just decorations; they tell a story. Imagine a gnome holding a tiny pumpkin basket or dressed as a witch. These characters spark creativity and imagination. They inspire tales of magical nights where gnomes hand out candy or protect their sweet treasures from goblins.
Each gnome design adds depth to your Halloween narrative. Whether they’re perched on your mantel or guarding your doorstep, they capture the spirit of the season. Kids may even weave their own stories about these delightful characters during their trick-or-treat adventures.
Incorporating Gnomes into Trick-or-Treat Displays
Gnomes shine brightest when integrated into trick-or-treat setups. Place them among bowls of candy or at the foot of a spooky tree. Their cheerful faces balance out the eerie vibes of Halloween, making your display unique.
Creative placement enhances their charm. Consider setting up a mini Halloween village with gnomes and themed props. The combination of these elements creates a dynamic scene that impresses every visitor.
DIY Halloween Gnomes with Trick-or-Treat Flair
Making your own Halloween gnomes is a fun activity for families. Crafting allows you to add personal touches, ensuring your gnomes match your Halloween aesthetic. Felt, fabric, and faux fur are common materials for gnome costumes.
Focus on trick-or-treat details like miniature candy buckets or witch hats. Handmade gnomes become treasured keepsakes that add a special touch to your Halloween celebrations year after year.
Why Kids Love Halloween Gnomes
Kids are naturally drawn to the playful vibe of Halloween gnomes with trick or treat themes. These gnomes turn spooky into fun, making Halloween less scary for younger children. Their vibrant costumes and friendly faces evoke a sense of wonder.
Including gnomes in your Halloween setup invites kids to interact. They may count the gnomes or guess their tricks. This engagement adds another layer of enjoyment to trick-or-treating.
Gnome-Inspired Trick-or-Treat Gifts
Take your Halloween gifting up a notch with gnome-inspired treats. Miniature gnome figurines or gnome-shaped candy packs make for delightful giveaways. These gifts are memorable and keep the Halloween spirit alive long after the night ends.
For an eco-friendly option, consider gifting handmade gnome crafts. Parents and kids alike will appreciate the thoughtfulness behind such creative treats.
Halloween Gnomes in Outdoor Decor
Outdoor decorations are a staple of Halloween, and gnomes make them even better. Position them in your garden or on your porch alongside carved pumpkins and spiderwebs. Their colorful costumes add contrast to darker, spooky elements.
Solar-powered gnomes with glowing features are perfect for nighttime displays. They light up your yard, guiding trick-or-treaters to your door while maintaining a magical Halloween vibe.
Creating a Gnome-Themed Halloween Party
A gnome-themed Halloween party is a fantastic idea for those who love whimsical celebrations. Decorate with gnome centerpieces, themed banners, and candy stations. Encourage guests to dress as their favorite Halloween gnome character.
Games and activities can include gnome hunts or crafting gnome hats. This theme blends traditional Halloween fun with the charm of these adorable figures, making your party unforgettable.
Halloween Gnomes: A Collector’s Delight
Collecting Halloween gnomes with trick or treat designs has become a popular hobby. Each year, new designs emerge, ranging from classic witches to unique pop culture-inspired gnomes. Displaying your collection is a great way to showcase your Halloween enthusiasm.
