so like i said in the last post jason finds out tim’s not rly looked after (probably not canon but ive decided he isn’t AND they legally get to keep tim idk don’t ask me) so now like either dick or alfred foster tim (bc jason’s still sixteen) and tim moves into the manor and becomes Batkid.

Jason has been struggling with Bruce’s death and so taking care of Tim has become something he can focus on, and obviously Dick and Alfred are worried bc Jason was totally killing people just a second ago but i think they’d ask him to go to therapy and he’d actually go because he wants to be the best he can mentally to help raise Tim.

Tim is their (currently) foster brother but Jason is basically everything Tim never had in a parent. Dick sees how seriously Jason takes all this but knows that Jason is still a kid and makes sure he gets a break often enough to not worry about taking care of someone else. then when Damian shows up Dick is out in space, and so now Jason is a single mom with two kids and is praying Dick will hurry his ass up and come home (obviously alfred is a huge help he just wants his older brother home)

when dick gets back he’s like “bro i left you for how long and you got another whole ass kid” and then he totally sees how Damian looks like his dead adoptive dad and then goes mama mode on that little bean and adopts him while he’s at it

when Jay is old enough Tim asks Jason to adopt him and bro totally cries his eyes out. Tim has been waiting for Jason to be old enough to be adopted into the family, not that he doesn’t like Dick, quite the opposite he loves his biggest brother, but jay and tim saved each other and the feels are hard to explain but yeah he wants jay to adopt him. Dick adopted Damian right away but when Jason is old enough Damian asked for them to have split custody of him, because he’s always had both his big brothers to look after him and he wouldn’t have it any other way

Tim becomes the Batkid Dick is still Nightwing and Jason is Red Robin up until Damian is old enough to become Robin, then i think Tim would be old enough to become Batman and Jason would become Red Hood (i’m actually still debating if he would be red hood or smth else but i’m sticking with red hood for now) i also gave him a more Arkham Night lookin outfit bc he’s got the cute ears that might remind him of his dad

there’s probably some other stuff i wanted to say but missed but oh well, thanks to @foerchen for letting me rant and also helping me decide on things here and there, ily <33

Do you think, if Jason never found out about Sheila and subsequently lived, he would have followed Dick’s footsteps and left?

Like, his and Bruce’s relationship was already becoming strained with the whole Garzonas thing and Bruce basically stonewalling him after believing that Jason killed the guy without even looking for evidence

Whether or not Jason seemed eerily cryptic is beside the point

All in all, I’m not surprised Jason was immediately gung-ho about finding a biological mother who wanted nothing to do with him.

But yeah, if Jason never went through that and thus probably never fell to the Joker’s hand, he probably would have left at some point and branch out with a new vigilante identity

Though I wonder how he would have faired. Because as far as I know, Jason’s run as Robin seemed kinda isolated - he didn’t get to form his own team or be a part of one [He only interacted with the Titans like twice ???]

He didn’t seem to have many friends besides that one pen pal……

Would Dick offer him a helping hand?? Help him get his footing as a independent vigilante

Resources probably would have been minimal. Would Bruce cut him off? I’d like to think he wouldn’t but if Jason’s methods did become lethal…….idk - though now that I think about it, Jason wouldn’t want his money

Let me preface this by saying that gaslighting is an extremely abusive behavior, and should not be attempted if you want to keep relationships intact. Having said that:

AU where Tim, upon Jason confronting him in Titan Tower, decides to gaslight gatekeep girlboss his way out of it.

Jason: You stole the Robin identity. It should have been retired when I died in it!

Tim, master at bullshitting: But you said I could have it.

Jason:

Jason: What?

Tim, digging himself deeper: Remember? At the Winter Gala? I was crying in the coat closet, and you came by and gave me some cookies you had taken, and I showed you all my photos?

Jason, vaguely remembering this Tim kid but not this specific incident: Uh...

Tim, just really committing to the bit: And I showed you my investigative reports, and you said I could be the next Robin if I kept at it. You inspired me!

Jason, not wanting to admit that he doesn't remember this at all: ... well, things changed.

Tim, pulling out the crocodile tears: So you didn't like my photos?!

Jason is left bewildered and trapped by social convention because he can't just admit that he doesn't know what the hell this kid is talking about, and by the time the tower is back up and Batman and Nightwing come swooping in for a rescue, Jason is left sitting awkwardly on Tim's bed with a mug of hot chocolate in his hands as Tim details everything that happened after Jason's death in DITF.

Jason, Bruce, and Dick, now all individually and collectively panicking:

Tim: Nailed it.

Willis, Sheila and Jason! Did a black haired and blonde haired version for Jason, as I should every time. Took a lot less time than I thought it would, now ofc the nationalities & ethnicities are my hc :) Two of them being the countries of two very good friends of mine. (and Croatia is there because I love the language) and also bc Many still think Jason's asian bc of DITF where Bruce and he believed Shiva could be his mom, but Sheila doesn't look East Asian like at all. Willis' race however did look a lot more ambiguous in Batman #410, so fuck it, Chinese Willis. and as some of you may know Jason was from the Basque Country in the Bombshells au, ofc I had to make Willis Spanish too! I hc that Ma Gunn immigrated to the US for a better life where she met Jason 1 (Jason's grandfather), they took an american name 'Todd' and had Willis and his siblings, also many of you already know that my best friend's spanish so ofc I can't ignore that :D Next up, Sheila, I took more liberties with her, I ofc love the croation language and want to learn it after graduating and a good friend of mine is Lebanese :D

Kids movie for children but in Teenage Kraken the lore is that krakens can be small or big, and big krakens can change size at will but it’s also tied to their emotions and I’m just thinking of a post ditf Jason who’s stuck big. I wouldn’t even want him to ever be able to be small, either, you know like even if he “calms down” it’s just how he is now. I know in your AU Jason’s a leviathan I’m just jabbering

been thinking too hard about my batman mob au. so i would like to share it. this is so long im sorry let me put it under a cut

i want to begin by saying that i think the only way bruce could feasibly become a mob boss is if he was able to be swayed to see that "clean" methods would genuinely do no good and in fact succeed in achieving more harm due to how much corruption and crime permeates the system. i think it would take a LOT to convince bruce of this, so he's kind of the hardest character to put in a mob au. however for the sake of fun we will suspend our disbelief a little bit!

okay, moving on, alfred: he's long been proven to be bruce's biggest enabler. i think he would get over it and end up helping him as he does as batman

as for dick: ooh boy. okay. so first of all i DO think bruce would let him kill zucco. however!! i think as dick grows up within the mob his strong code of morals will also begin to conflict with the lifestyle. but he's stuck there because bruce. insert all those posts about how dick grayson loves freedom and he also loves bruce and those things are at constant war with each other and because he loves bruce he sometimes clips his own wings. etc etc. i think he is the talia al ghul of this whole sitch if you get what i mean

speaking of talia!!! i believe her father would still be at odds with bruce bc yes, bruce is in crime, but bruce refuses to join with the league. so they semi-preserve their canon dynamic, except i think there's more opportunity for cooperation between talia and bruce considering talia's lexcorp era. in fact i do believe that lexcorp and waynecorp would become business allies during talia's time as ceo

but jason isn't dead. what his kidnappers hoped to do was turn him against his benefactor, taunt him about how it's been months and bruce still hasn't been able to save him, had refused to save him. but one night the door's left ajar and the sound of the TV drifts in, talking about how bruce is waging a bloody gang war, the first he's ever instigated, and jason... well. :)

as for jason—i think he would be the most loyal of the bunch. the first thing i actually dreamed up wrt this AU was a reimagining of ditf/utrh! in here, he's kidnapped by a rival gang. they demand bruce an impossible ransom, and bruce has no choice but to refuse. so bruce is sent a video of jason being killed.

"but poppy," you ask. "where's babs? tim? steph? cass? helena? jpv?" ok let's be real people aren't usually asking about the last 2 rip my babygirls BUT ANYWAYS—

the most important figure is HELENA. in the absence of batman, guess who's becoming the foremost protector of gotham??? EXACTLY. HELENA BERTINELLI. her whole backstory is that she wants to bring organized crime down SO WHO BETTER TO BE THE MAIN ENEMY IN A BATMAN MOB AU.

also because i love her.

ALSO HER FIRST "ROBIN" (not necessarily named robin i just mean like. sidekick) IS JAMES COOPER FROM CAVALIERI'S HUNTRESS. CHUCK DIXON I HAVE NOT FORGIVEN YOU FROM ERASING HIM FROM MAIN CONTINUITY. he doesn't go out into the field that much bc he's still baby but he's the oracle before oracle. although when he does go into the field he's like. remember in cavalieri huntress where he was scurrying arohnd in the sewers and planting fucking grenades and shit. yeah.

later on he and babs will be best buddies <3 babs is his favorite aunt

ALSO!!! the rest of james' family will still be alive. idgaf. it's MY au and i can randomly reveal that his family has been alive all along IF I WANT TO. comic writers stop killing black people off for shock value challenge 2k24

also, james is ABSOLUTELY the one who wheedled helena into making a lair

babs does join the fray still! her story arc is mostly the same except that she partners with the huntress instead of batman. their ages are closer together so it's a slightly different dynamic

tim will remain a civilian. he will, however, be a very helpful civilian, in that he's the one who's stalking dick grayson & trying to prove that dick's involved in organized crime. him and dick will have the saddest tragickest "we could've been brothers. but not in this life. not ever." type of relationship. like jaderoy but platonic.

also tim & helena will have the same littlebrothernephew relationship that they have in canon 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶

i guess jpv will get roped in in a similar way to canon, but the idea of bane doing what he did to helena makes me so so sad :( however since she is taking batman's narrative space in this story then i think it should still proceed. i will then also insert a little bit of the vichelena agenda here—

in the wake of bane, JPV WILL STILL STEP IN AS HUNTRESS. "but they'll know he's not a woman" COWARDS. just give him a dye job and he'll look like helena. all white people look the same. he can pad the fucking suit or he can get the fuck out.

as for steph, she will absolutely be a vigilante alongside the huntress. her father is still cluemaster, after all, so she'll follow a similar arc to canon except it's helena and not bruce that she'll develop a complex mentor relationship with!!

i think helena can see a little of herself in steph. i think part of helena envies steph's moral compass also. iirc at steph's age, helena still thought her mafia family was okay & that it was just the people who killed them that were bad. yet steph, who's half her age, has no such illusions about her father, and is already fighting to try and bring him down

cass!!!! cass will still come to gotham!!!!! i can't see a way for cass to be on bruce's side in this au simply bc of how strong her morals are. she killed a man and never ever wanted to kill again, even with shiva where it was kill or be killed, she had already made up her mind to let herself be killed in the end. so she is going to be on the vigilante side :]

also, it would be amazing for me personally if cass came to gotham during azbats (...azhuntress?) era. ohhh lord. a situation RIPE for incredible interactions

i still haven't read damian & duke comics properly yet so that's going to have to be added in the future. but that's what's been rattling around in my brain so far!

Last Will and Testament

Justice League fic featuring Bruce dying on an alien planet and Hal Jordan being a reluctant diplomat. Dick as Robin for maximum angst. Ironing out the kinks with this one but I'm excited for it.

No Man's Land AU (Title pending)

The events of No Man's Land coupled with a no-capes AU (apocolypse fic. if i could get away with zombies i'd stick them in there). Been poking at the idea for a while now but the ~vibes~ are coalescing so maybe I'll finally get around to writing it

Dream

Post-DitF Bruce gets himself injured and is bedridden. A rogue nightmare decides to haunt him by taking the form of robin and blurring the line between dreaming and sleeping, trapping Bruce inside his own head with his memory of Jason. Of course Morpheus shows up to save the day.

Because I like fluff almost as much as I like angst, here’s some happier notes for my Phighting x Forsaken AU.

In exchange for helping improve his aim, Chance taught Hyperlaser how to play poker. He’s not very good at it, mind you, but it’s a great time killer between rounds.

Judging by how he acted when Medkit went missing in DITF…Sword really didn’t take Rocket’s disappearance well. “Hey, leaves! That’s not very happy!” Well what if I told you that Sword’s sadness led to him joining the survivors as well? Yay! Reunion!

Subspace feels a sort-of kinship with John, considering how his corruption can be compared to Sub’s rot. And while they’re not the same, that didn’t stop Subspace from giving him pointers on how to manage it.

And on an unrelated note, I feel like Scythe would make a good killer, too. I just can’t think of a fitting way to make her miserable lol.
