Volkswagen Microbus T2b, 1971. On display in a local shopping mall in Invercargill, New Zealand. An immaculate VW van though it’s minus windows and has been converted for display purposes. The low mounted front indicators and perforated wheels identify it was a 1971 model which would have been imported FBU from Germany.

#thinking of dinosaurs and troodontids were my favorite dinosaurs as a child#when younger i had a real full troodontid tooth fossil that meant a lot to me#for a time we lived within a few kilometers of hadrosaur sites and troodontid sites#while wider general area had many sites of recovery for the big celebrities like tyrannosaur and multiple dromaeosaurs#at that time troodontids were kinda infamous for i think the depiction in some childrens field guides and dino books#which depicted like a fantasy speculative humanoid troodontid based on 1980s model at Canadian Museum of Nature in ottawa#anyway would visit a small local paleo center a lot and woman in her 70s or 80s ran the counter of their center and rock shop#one day she asked me what my fave dino was and i said troodon so she pulled out the tooth and just gifted it to me#in little black case size of ring box with padding and transparent plastic viewing cover kinda like laminate for displaying a trading card#tooth got stolen from out my vehicle while giving some people a ride while at university before i got too poor for tuition#later during first year of pandemic owner of my storage unit died and new property owners threw away everything i ever owned#i was homeless anyway lost job due to early pandemic closures and had to allocate any money to insulin and other prescrip meds#but wouldve found a way to save my things if the new owners had contacted me#they threw out photoalbums y backpacking gear y books y musical instruments y clothes y artwork y camera y all family keepsakes#and all childhood treasures like souvenirs and gifts and school awards and writing portfolios and all the little memories#which i was always sentimental about as child#from earliest age my room looked like a natural history museum with plants and maps and library of field guides#and rocks and field trip keepsakes and all kinds of little animal figurines and mother had painted room in forest greens and browns#to feel like a forest and among the succulent plants and a globe sat the troodon tooth#parents passed when i was a child#never near any family and were always moving never got to settle into proper stable place then father passed after long sad illness#and mother put in so much effort but she passed few years later and i could not take care of myself or my remaining material possessions#and so im still quite hurt having nothing whatsoever remaining of my childhood or school friends or mother or life generally#and when trying to process grief my thoughts often come back to the troodontid tooth as a focal point a distillation of what was lost#even when young i knew it was advised not to become too connected to material physical possessions#but still there are some small little trinkets in our lives that seem to hold so much meaning and i tortured myself for losing that tooth#thinking about troodon reminds me of childhood

shoutout to cyberpunk 2077 for discouraging me from wanting to become a fighter pilot
i remember going to some air show, and being just so completely enamoured with the fighters. just. wanting that. flying through the skies at entirely zoo high velocities. surrounded by amazing technology. so what if i'd have to kill ppl? might get killed myself?
"They didn't even have to recruit 'em - they just.. showed them the tech."
i'm having a hard time finding an exact source for that quote, and thus a hard time verifying its accuracy - but something along those lines was saved. and fuck, if that didnt resonate with me then...
not gonna bother doing some in-depth analysis for how that quote fits in today's world or whatever, i suck at that shit. but i feel like it is a sentiment worth spreading. to try n avoid being dazzled by the tech. or noticing when you are, and thinking critically about it.
went to the same airshow a year later, with a new, much more critical view of things. was as cool as ever, except i was a lil less enamoured with the idea of actually using the tech this time 'round. saw an f35, so that was cool.

#talked to my credit union about pre-approval for an auto loan. im gonna frow up#tldr; i just started a new job after completely depleting my savings over the last couple months#and my fucking car has decided that NOW is the time it wants to begin its death throws after 17 years & 190k miles#so rather than wait for the engine to explode on the highway or something i'm spending money i don't have#(many thousands of dollars that i will need to borrow. specifically. 🤢)#to shell out for a newer & hopefully more reliable car before winter hits. and then i'm just gonna pray my new income can cover it!!!!!#on one hand i'm excited cuz it'll be the first car i've ever owned that wasn't a shitty hand-me-down with over 150k on it already#and i am absolutely drooooooling over the one i'm gonna test drive tomorrow#but on the other hand. it feels very precarious to take on this amount of debt right now and i'm FREAKING THE FUCK OUT.#i was worrying this morning tha ri was rushing into things and maybe it would be better to try to hold off for a couple months#but then i had to use my own car for work today instead of a fleet vehicle and the engine started displaying Silly Behaviors*#(*RPMs doing whatever they feel like randomly & a noticeable Clunk whenever i'd shift gears)#and since this thing has already cost like 1k in two emergency mechanic trips in the last two months#i feel justified in my decision to just take the L and hope nobody will look at it too closely when assessing its trade-in value 😔#ctxt#money talk cw

You have a tattoo studio? Are you a tattoo artist or like just working there kind of thing?
What kind of vibe does it give off? Is it a dark and mysterious place or a more light hearted one?
Oh no, it's not mine mine, just mine as in I have returned there multiple times! There are three studios with the same name (same company) with a ton of tattoo artists and piercers, so I've gotten 6 tattooes from three different artists in two different studio locations, plus a couple piercings!
But both locations I've been to are really chill, not super private cause there's usually four artists per room, though depending on the day, they're not all always working, so there may be unoccupied tables around. Last time I went in they were having an event for small tattoos, so all four tables in the studio had someone on it and more people waiting, so it was a bit more crowded that day, but being small tattoos I was in and out pretty quick (like less than half an hour for three tattoos) But yeah, the vibes are chill, I honestly couldn't tell you what colour the walls are because most of the artists will print out the lineart of tattoos they've done and display them on the walls, or have art that inspires them or art they have made in other mediums like paintings and such. There's usually a movie or something playing on the TV too, the second to last time I was there, I can't remember for the life of me what was playing but it was some animated movie and the artists who didn't have clients at the time were sitting around chatting and watching the movie lol
