Enchanted AU: Part 36

Your eyes do not deceive you, its a new chapter! (which I started months ago and tabled). We're going back to irregular updates here-- mostly whenever I feel a vibe. If a new plot forms, it forms! I missed these two, happy to write them again.

Enchanted AU - Disney Princess Dan 1 | Part 35

Max placed his hand on Daniel's bouncing thigh as they sat in the back of the SUV. The skyline was a beautiful orange that reminded him of the smoke that followed him around the grandstands.

Perth was beautiful.

Joe had only given him a stern look in place of a shovel talk before shaking his hand. No doubt Grace and Michelle took care of that. Daniel had clutched Joe like his life depended on it and Max was able to see the absolute relief that fluttered over the elder Ricciardo’s face. 

Daniel seemed to get more and more nervous the closer they got to the family ranch. He'd begun biting his cuticles along with his leg hopping.

“What's wrong?” Max leaned over to whisper. Daniel jolted a little before smiling.

“I'm just excited to see everyone I think. It's like been so long.”

“They'll all be happy to see you, I think.” Max knew Daniel meant all the animals in his ‘everyone’ and he couldn't wait to maybe meet some of them. 

They arrived not too long afterwards and there was a flurry of activity. Daniel was scooped up into many hugs and Max was even enfolded into the bosom of an older woman who mumbled to him in Italian. She looked at Max's face this way and that from varying angles before she smiled beautifully as if satisfied.

“Nonna please.” Daniel came to save him, he muttered to the woman in Italian in a pleading tone and she only smirked at him and said something in what Max could only claim as an ‘i told you so’ tone.

“Don't mind her.” Daniel was blushing as he spoke, tugging Max out of the house by his hand. They exited through a door in the kitchen and Max saw that the land went on for kilometers. 

“Would you like to meet everyone?” Daniel asked shyly. Max threaded his fingers through Daniel's and brought the back of his tattooed wrist to his lips.

“I'd be honoured.”

Daniel led them through a side gate that separated a garden area from what seemed to be the greater farm. They didn't walk very far before they were immediately swarmed by a small herd of llamas, sheep and horses. 

Daniel took a minute to laugh and interact with the animals before tugging Max forward. He sang Max's introduction, and soon he was overwhelmed with animals trying to get his attention.

Max doesn't know how long they spent out there, going for rides with the herd. He was amazed at how excited the animals were to see Daniel again. It felt like the time in the glade in Monaco on steroids. Max watched as Daniel stroked the head of a foal tucked into his side, he smiled softly as they were presented with all of the new babies to ooh and ahh over.

If Max didn't know any better, he'd have thought they stepped into a Disney movie or something.

Grace stepped out onto the back patio with a grin and her hands on her hips. Daniel looked up from where he was nuzzling an alpaca and nodded. 

“It's dinner time I think.” Daniel murmured, reaching for Max's hand.

It took some coaxing and promises of more cuddle time for the animals to let them go. Daniel also promised to brush the horses before the night was over. 

“C’mon Mr popular.” Max teased, pulling Daniel close by the wrist. Daniel ducked his head in a blush and pushed Max's shoulder with his. 

“Did you– everyone enjoyed meeting you.” Daniel bit his lip nervously. He hoped Max hadn't been too overwhelmed.

Max kissed their joined hands. “It was lovely. Everyone really loves you.” Max said honestly. He only felt a little badly that he'd had Daniel to himself all this time. 

“I missed them as well. If I knew I'd have been gone for so long I'd have given everyone more kisses!” Daniel babbled. “I'll make sure to spend time with everyone before we leave for Melbourne.”

They stepped onto the back porch and Max pulled Daniel into his arms. He kissed Daniel's temple, smiling a little at the thought of Daniel coming with him to a race weekend. He was more excited than he realized, the anticipation of Daniel in his world– seeing him in his element was high. 

“I'll come with you.” Max promised, enjoying the beaming smile Daniel sent his way. It would be lovely, he knew. Any time spent with Daniel was.

I know that people talk about how live action remakes of Disney movies aren't great but ever after: a Cinderella story is actually reaaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyyyy good because instead of it just being a live action version of Cinderella they make it more realistic and the message is really good too and Jacqueline (one of the two evil stepsisters) is actually really nice to Danielle (Cinderella) and it's one of the only iterations I've seen where she actually stands up to her step mother

Oh!!!!! This is a lovely idea

He tries them when they go to visit Vic and Tom after the baby is born. Sophie suggests they go walk around the nearby town for a little, have some childless time and sends them off while ignoring their protests.

Daniel smells the shop before he sees it, his eyes widen because it smells amazing. He doesn't realize he's veering off their path until Max grabs his hands

"whats that smell?"

Max looks around because what? But he takes a big sniff and goes "oh".

"oh??"

"it's stroopwafels."

"stroop-what?"

"stroopwafels. It's a pastry."

"stroopwafels... It smells amazing." Daniel's mouth is watering. They go into the store and Daniel all but melts at the sweet caramelly wall they walk into. Max handles the order and Daniel sits at a table excitedly. He looked at the flat circular pastry as Max hands it to him. It's warm and it smells sooooo good. He sniffs it directly before biting it.

The sound that left his mouth had Max's eyes widening in shock. The cherub tattoo swoons before laying down as if drunk.

Daniel has a drunken smile on his face as he nibbles the pastry.

Max orders four more.

I have quite a few photos floating around on my personal account from "Disney Princess - the Concert" in Lancaster PA on April 16th. These are some of my favorites of the cast of the Spring tour 2022. The Disney animations were absolutely breathtaking.

Look who just woke up- is that MATT LANTER? No, I must have been mistaken, that’s DANIEL JACKSON from STARGATE: SG-1. I heard he is 42 and stuck here just like everyone else. Even in the 20’s, they still give off a GOLD RIMMED GLASSES LIGHTLY COATED IN DIRT FROM AN ARCHEOLOGICAL DIG, PASSIONATE RANTS ABOUT EXCITING NEW FINDS, BICKERING WITH HIS BEST FRIEND impression. They’re known to be quite CURIOUS, but have a tendency to be HYPERFOCUSED on their bad days.

Personality description :  

Strangers :: Daniel is very friendly, but he can come off as a bit of a know it all and definitely a huge nerd. however, what most people don't realize is that if he's rambling about something, he definitely knows it all. he works too much to have much contact with strangers, but he's a sweetheart that doesn't usually jump to conclusions about people unless they've given him a reason to.

Friends :: Friends get to see the more sarcastic side of Daniel and get to see that isn't just the huge nerd that strangers think he is. they get to see his more reckless side that doesn't always think before he acts, especially when someone he loves is in danger or he thinks he's getting close to figuring something out. but they definitely see even more just how much he works.

Family/Close Friends :: The people closest to Daniel get to be on the receiving end of his recklessness. They are the ones he's willing to put himself in danger for. they are also the ones that get to see that he doesn't always act as smart as he is as well. sometimes, you wouldn't know he's a genius if you didn't know him so well.

Memories of their real life : 

Daniel is an Archaeologist Linguist, who was recruited for the Stargate mission in 1996 by Catherine Langford. He helped unlock the Stargate portal and traveled to the planet of Abydos with a team of Airmen where he decided to stay after meeting his wife. However, a year later in 1997, the Stargate team returned to Abydos to help the people there only for Daniel's wife to be captured by the Goa'uld. He returned to Earth so he could assist in getting her back. Joining the SG-1 team, he traveled the stars, befriend aliens, and studied the alien cultures and languages. Daniel ended up staying on the team until 2009 where his memories end.

What was their fake life like? 

Daniel was placed into foster after losing his parents when 8 just like in his real life. However, this time, he traveled to Sydney after getting an opportunity to work at the museum and teach specialty classes at the university. He has been here ever since.

"Almost There" by Farrah Rochon

Book: "Almost There" Author: Farrah Rochon Published: 2022 Publisher: Disney-Hyperion Tag Line: "What if Tiana made a deal that changed everything?" Series: Disney Twisted Tales/A Twisted Tale Summary: The book starts off where Tiana has the talisman that Dr. Facilier really wants. In order to get the talisman, Dr. Facilier aka the Shadow Man, appeals to Tiana. The appeal? The Shadow Man and his friends on the other side will bring back Tiana's dad from the dead, give Tiana her restaurant, and also restore Naveen back into a human. The catch is that Tiana must put something in the food of her restaurant. Also, Tiana must not mention the deal she made with Facilier or everything will go up in smoke. Well, after people memories are going away, a mysterious heavy fog, and a green slime permeating the water, Tiana knows something is wrong. All the while, Faciler must placate the friends on the other side if he wants true power over New Orleans. So, Tiana needs help with getting rid of the deal she made while also trying to fix the fog and the slime. How will she do it? Will Tiana right this wrong?

I liked the twist where Tiana makes the deal instead of Naveen. However, I wish that the climax came sooner than the last few pages of the book. I also wanted to see Roselande, Mama Odie and Facilier face off before his demise. The memories that Naveen was remembering needed to be a driving force to want to help Tiana figure out what was happening as well as Tiana trying to save her father and restaurant. I saw a little selfishness on Tiana's part in regards to that. But otherwise, I liked that someone else made the deal with Facilier. I could see this book as a movie or short film. 

As always with the rest of the books in this series, I recommend this one. Especially if "The Princess and the Frog " is one of your favorite Disney movies.
