This book is a pressure cooker and I could not put it down! 

Following the events of the previous installment, “Carving Shadows into Gold” picks up with Tycho, Jax, and Callyn as they learn to wield the magic that is dividing their kingdom. 

All three characters undergo significant growth as they navigate life outside of Briarlock and the challenges that come with being cast apart. Tycho’s unresolved trauma begins to haunt him now that he is beholden to both the king and to the magical scraver that came to his aid, Jax faces prejudice as he works in a kingdom that was once enemy to his own, and Callyn has a hard time discerning who to trust at the royal court. 

I kid you not when I say that the tension in this book escalates to reach a fever pitch! With all three characters spread across both kingdoms, their points-of-view allow the reader to learn more about how the brewing war surrounding magic has affected not only the populace, but also the royal family. There is a lot in the way of political maneuvering as Callyn and Lia Mara work to prevent Syhl Shallow and Emberfall from being pitted against each other by the Truthbringers. Having to watch some of my favorite characters from the “Cursebreakers” trilogy—in addition to Tycho, Jax, and Callyn—suffer under the weight of the pressure hit me with a wave of emotion, because I’m so deeply invested in the lives of all of Kemmerer’s characters!  

While perhaps not the main focus of the book, the romance made my heart ache. The looming conflict definitely serves as a source of tension for both Tycho and Jax’s as well as Callyn and Alek’s respective relationships. Their love is continuously put to the test, yet it remains steadfast. The intense yearning will definitely make you swoon!

I anxiously await book 3 in hopes that it will put my heart at ease!

How to be my mother:

i) say your daughter has ocd.

ii) when your daughter is older and comes to you with a whole list of ocd symptoms she has, ignore them.

iii) say, “oh everyone has a bit of ocd, yours is normal.” (bonus points: use her paternal grandmother as an example bc she has to obsessively clean every inch of her house.)

iv) when your daughter displays her haphemania in front of you, ignore it.

v) when your daughter describes her haphemania to you say, “hmm, ocd” and move on when she is younger, and look at her weird when she is older.

vi) make sure your daughter never feels comfortable enough to talk about her symptoms with you, especially her intrusive thoughts.

I had to take a while to rack my brain to find the most annoying oc possible.. in my head it's a tossup between Disi and Sabra

They're ideally annoying in different ways, Disi is the FVC's Ace counterpart, except she's the daughter of a teacher already so she has some semblance of boundaries, at most she'd be the class clown and be like "my mom's a better teacher than you lol"

but.... Sabra has NO respect for authority. NONE. She'd call him Marshy Warshy. She'd call him Stellar Skeeter. Blood Sucking Bastard too, if she failed a test... Sabra would probably cause him to end up in a hospital I won't lie. She'd steal his cane 0 hesitation. She would give it back but.. only after she's done messing with him.

Kro would definitely be an annoyance, but not as much as the other two... They're more conniving than annoying, perhaps he would see a reflection of himself in Kro and that's why he doesn't like them. :3c

Scam type: Fake gogetfunding campaign.

Reason(s) this is a scam:

1 - The name Pharis Disi (who is the person 'hosting' this campaign) has been used by multiple other scam blogs including sappotviviandiabetiicpatient, gaza-diabetes-childrenhelp, mysterioussickenessdiabiatese, and several others where they claimed to be Palestinian and diabetic.

Their 'phone number' is 555-987-6543 - is just 9-3 backwards.

City - Minsk, State - Minsk is not a real place.

3 - Their 'picture'

And on top of that they claim to be from Belarus yet this (the video) is someone who speaks clear and fluent English and to add to that- the group the video was posted into is for LGBT+ people in Northern Colorado.

A state in the United States.
