I really don't understand people who love Gin and hate Kaname at the same time. No, really, think about this for a second before you go back to your blind, fanatical love for cute boys (of course, I'll go back to that too).

Gin acted like a bastard, hurting people, killing, dooming people to death for about a hundred years because, well, as a child he saw what Aizen's minions did to Rangiku (almost sapped her powers as a soul). He realized that Aizen is a dangerous, cruel psychopath who poses a threat to three worlds. Honestly, I don’t remember canonical materials on whether Aizen shared with Gin the truth about the structure of the three worlds (about the Soul King as a puppet of Squad Zero, etc.), but even if Gin knew how ugly the setting of Bleach is - I believe he believed that putting him in the hands of Aizen, who did not care about the lives of civilians and even loyal subordinates, would be madness. His motivation makes sense, it shouldn't be reduced JUST to revenge for Rangiku, especially since she survived.

On the other hand, Kakyo (Tousen's friend/lover, in case you didn't know) didn't survive. Tokinada killed her (and the other shinigami), not for the sake of a higher goal that “justifies” the means, but because he was a sick bastard who liked to torture and kill, just like that. Yes, he also knew the truth about the Soul King, but he handled it differently than Aizen. And, well, being a vicious aristocrat, he used every opportunity provided by the clan to avoid punishment, and he was FAR from the only one of his kind. Kaname was trampled, the Soul Society system literally shouted in his face about its injustice, and Aizen was the only one who extended a helping hand to him. Aizen trusted Kaname, and Tousen asked him to kill himself so that he would never end up on the side of the Gotei 13.

(I think Aizen trusted Gin too, because at the moment of his betrayal, he actually looks shocked - it was not part of his plan lol).

I think Kaname and Gin were very similar and both suffered similar sins and can be understood.

1000 Year Blood War Arc

This page covers general info for Kensei and Shuuhei during the Blood War arc. That is, Shuuhei’s training with Mashiro, their subsequent battles with the Quincy and then Kensei’s ‘zombification’ and Mayuri gaining control of him.  

At the bottom of the page it reads, 変わらぬ人事. It essentially talks about a problem a character has faced in the arc, or something that has changed about them or what they’ve done. For Kensei, it was returning to the Gotei 13 be the Captain of the 9th Division once again. For Shuuhei, it notes that he’s now served under two Captains during his time as Vice-Captain, and that he has the trust of the squad members who rely on him.

5th- Kazeshini

A Japanese fan jokes/wonders whether the reason that Hisagi has no sleeves has something to do with his zapakutou catching and tearing them. Fans also want to see it’s bankai!

25th- Tachikaze

Fans like the army knife shape of Tachikaze in its unreleased state. They thought it matched Kensei’s personality.

26th- Suzumushi

Since Suzumushi���s bankai was one of the first shown, fans thought it was really impressive. They thought its powers were very strong and that its abilities were aptly named.

Battle Poll Results:

11th- Shuuhei v Tousen

Fans like this fight because it was quite moving and sad as it was a fight between people who were once friends. They thought the lines in the fight between Tousen and Komamura were really thematic and the scenes really conveyed strong emotion between all the characters. They also thought Shuuhei’s shikai scene was impressive.

12th- Shuuhei v Findor

This was the first fight where Kazeshini’s shikai was first seen! Fans also liked Findor and thought it was a cool fight!

45th- Mashiro and Kensei v (Pre-)Visored

Fans liked seeing the hollow forms of the characters start forming and impressed with their strength.

47th- Kensei v Mask

Fans thought that it was cool that Kensei came in and helped out Shuuhei.

47th- Kensei v Hollow

Same as above, fans also liked this because Kensei came and save little Shuuhei!

7th- Shuuhei Hisagi

Kubo notes that Hisagi’s quite a loved character! But he then says that he’s definitely a character that he likes to bully, but he finds him a bit boring to draw (Kubo then laughs).

A fan says that Shuuhei really looks like a school punk due to his appearance! Fans also say he’s that great character, but really has bad luck in the manga.  

26th- Kensei Muguruma

Fans like that Kensei is manly and buff, and that his attitude is really neat! They also like the number combination of his name and division and hope that he’s revived quickly!

Fans think that Tousen has had some really great fight scenes and has an interesting zanpakutou. Also they think that his actions and motivations are complex, and that his back story is quite meaningful. Fans also like him because of his stoic and cool nature.

Tōsen was a bad Captain. All he taught you was how to allow yourself to be controlled by your fear instead of overcoming it.

So in Klub Outside question 705, Kubo answered a question if the Shinigami liked Shuhei, to which he said there isn’t any Shinigami who dislike him. And in question 719, Kubo explained that Kensei originally hired Mashiro due to her talent.

I need more information about my Ninth Divisin kids, but I adore the fact that Shuhei is well liked and respected by everyone.
