I conjured a githyanki disguise to see if Lae'zel had any reaction, but I forgot I already had clown makeup on. The reveal almost had me crying. 🤣

There’s a ton of wack shit in BG3, but Haseley casting Disguise Self to turn into a drow and coming out looking like Handsome Squidward is the most out of pocket thing this game has thrown at me to date.

Dnd Spells: Disguise Self

Disguise Self is a level 1 Illusion spell for Bard Sorcerer and Wizard. Casting Time is 1 action range is self Requires a Verbal and Somatic Component and Duration is 1 hour.

You make yourself - including your clothing, armor, weapons, and other belongings on your person - look different until the spell ends. You can seem 1 foot shorter or taller and can appear heavier or lighter. You must adopt a form that has the same basic arrangement of limbs as you have. Otherwise, the extent of the illusion is up to you.

The changes wrought by this spell fail to hold up to physical inspection. For example, if you use this spell to add a hat to your outfit, objects pass through the hat, and anyone who touches it would feel nothing.

To discern that you are disguised, a creature must take the Study action to inspect your appearance and succeed on a Investigation check against your spell save DC.

Book One San Lang is so funny. He put his whole ghostussy into his human disguise -- every palm line and fingerprint in place, every strand of hair perfect -- but then he's just so blatantly Weird™. Like sure this teenage nepo baby wandering around on a whim because he was fighting with his parents will definitely take all of this Scary Supernatural Stuff in stride with no more than a very transparently flirtatious "I'm sca-wed gege. 🥺" Sure, he definitely just has casual encyclopedic knowledge of gods and defunct kingdoms going back almost a millennium and featuring details that aren't available on Wuxiapedia, and he can read dead languages. Of course he exhibits random carpentry skills. He stabs a guy with a chopstick and then shrugs when he deflates like a skin balloon. He cheerfully ties venomous snakes into knots and very evidently explodes them with his mind. Just Normal Human Kid things!

If Astarion uses 'disguise self' to become smaller and you talk to him, the dialogue forces the new model to use his animations leading to this nightmare.

Hey I just can't help but feel that the TAZ fandom has been sleeping on how Taako's whole appearance was the product of an illusion spell throughout Reunion Tour and Story and Song. Because, like. What if it was affected by his emotions. What if while he was remembering Lup, his appearance visually flashed back, through every phase of his life he finally remembered having gone through with her. What if up through the Suffering Game, he was gradually integrating more blue into his clothing, hair color, et cetera, as he started to open up to the Bureau — but when he started the countdown for Lucretia, it all transformed into red. What if his moment of vulnerability with Kravitz wasn't just about his beauty, but about how disconnected and conflicted Taako felt towards that Taako of the recent past — the Taako from the Bureau, the Taako who Kravitz fell in love with. What if that's why Kravitz replied that he'd heard the Story. That he'd be a fool not to love that side of Taako too. What then.
