27 – connecting the dots !
What's so good about him ?!
Scaramouche x reader smau
series synopsis — Your ex boyfriend kuni is in a band called 5wirl and they're pretty well known considering him and his bandmates are still in college but you still hated his guts on how he ended things with you back then in highschool the day before graduation. So whats the best course of action in this situation? make a hate account of him of course.
prev || masterlist || next
Heizou, after tweeting he began eagerly unwrapping the gifts from his fans, a smile playing on his lips. Some gifts that were given to him have letters, chocolates, jewelry, etc.Â
Among the various presents, a pink box caught his attention. With curiosity, he opened it and found a note that read "I always keep a promise! – y/n"( ref to chp 19) Inside, he discovered a bunch of appetizing donuts, his heart warming at the thoughtfulness of the gift. Then his train of thought stopped rethinking the note. "Wait…what did y/n promise…?"Â
He placed the donuts on his desk and began "decoding" the note, was he thinking too much into this? perhaps, but the note didn't make sense! Why would you say that you promised something…he recalled the moments of your blissful reunion yet you never once promised anything. Did you promise to come to the show? no, it can't be that knowing your historyÂ
His train of thought yet again was interrupted as he heard a notification on his phone
As if he was in a movie the gears of his brain started to move as he gasped dramatically connecting the dots. This gift was from y/n but looks like they forgot to address it as their Twitter handle is a big and obvious mistake!Â
Upon learning this new information the note made much sense, if his memory is perfect he recalled y/n– no rather he recalled @ scarass mentioning that they promised to come to the show! he felt giddy and smart upon his discovery then it hit him.Â
"Y/N IS SCARASS ?!"Â

hello everyone, just a reminder that I am taking 2 weeks off, but i've got some wonderful guest artists for the next two weeks! starting now:
i'm super excited to share this week's guest artist! my beloved friend joe moldpaw. joe is excellent at creating mood and atmosphere, and often uses elements of horror and the macabre in his art. for SBC he created this awesome fake "study" of the MoonClan cats through the eyes of a human researcher.
you can find more of Joe here: @worshipacidpit | twitter

American Copper (Felis cactus seclusus) Through my many studies throughout the Mojave, our team's most prolific discovery is that of the American Copper cat, aptly named due to their residence inside the old copper mines that litter the area. Categorized by their thin, pale fur and warped bone structure, we concluded that the American Copper is a subspecies of what we commonly refer to as the domestic cat - being so far secluded from the rest of other subjects, the anatomy and biology of the American Copper has changed drastically. Due to the insufficient environmental lighting, their eyes have evolved from what appears to be a Russian Topaz mutation - making it suitable for them to reside in the dark tunnels of the copper mines. The diet of the American Copper is limited - resulting in an extremely lithe bone structure, and most, if not all, of the lineage in this subspecies has a form of brittle bone disease and other bone deformities. They are very timid animals and seemed to "scatter" at the sight or movements of our flashlights - unlike most domestic cats we see in our normal day to day lives. My team and I have no understanding why they have become to secluded from the rest of the cats we have studied living in the Mojave, as the mines are not suitable for most life - especially not warm-blooded animals. I am curious to continue my studies on them, but getting through the mines has proven difficult enough, as one of my colleagues has to be lifted out due to a slip on sediment - causing her to break her arm on the way down. Below are the studies and sketches I managed to make while observing these strange animals. --Dr. Joseph Caladan Fig. 1a As seen here, the fur of the American Copper is thin, patchy and serves no purpose other than minimal warmth in the caves. Underbellies and legs are devoid of hair - leaving sickly skin exposed. Ears and other extremities appear torn, possibly from the rocky interiors. Most notable are their eyes (fig. 1b) - wide and reflective. Fig.2 A crude sketch of the skeleton, as we discovered a highly decomposed one within the sediment. Bones are airy and weak, often warped and bent - possibly due to insufficient nutrients or environmental factors. We are unsure which but hypothesize it is a combination of the two.

hi! i got into bsd and i was meaning to ask, since you seem an authority on the matter, could you recommend me some more bsd blogs to follow?
ps. love your art so much, you capture the characters personalities so well!
oh... that's a lot of pressure... I'm aware that I have weight on this side of the fandom (feels wild btw) but authority is too big a word
I mainly interact with art and the occasional analysis and joke posts, so most of the blogs I can recommend are that, plus I am very Chuuya/Dazai/skk biased
First, browse and follow the bsd fanart tag to get just that. Not everyone uses it (I encourage them to!!), but if like me you are so very done with the negativity fest that have become the main tags since the anime started airing again, that's a great place to find fun things!
Second, I am sending you on a discovery journey. I encourage you to look through people's blogs and tags for some great finds. Here are some blogs in random order for you to start with, because there is no way I can remember all the blogs I love:
@caelanglang (art), @luneariann (art), @sensitiveheartless (art + writing), @arikitoka (art), @itotypes (writing + art), @iwritenarrativesandstuff (analysis + writing + art), @frenchonionsoop (art), @petitesmafia (funny), @yomeiu (art), @esmiara (art), @weeniehutart (art), @videogamelover99 (analysis + art), @carrotkicks (art), @damianito (art), @smolskk (art), @kokoasci (art), @chupidopi (art), @mochimochips (art), @creantzy (art), @justplaggin (news and official stuff),
have some reblog blogs that will probably catch some of the cool people I can't remember right now AND give you some forgotten older stuff if you scroll far enough: @demonprodigy-kingofsheep, @im-always-a-slut-for-soukoku, @for-chuuya, @awkwardbsd, a bunch of the people above too, and a shameless self-plug @originalaccountname where it's mostly reblogs and the occasional analysis post.
EDITED: popopretty makes monthly chapter recaps and other kinds of translations (you might recognize them from twitter, or not), @reneray has Fifteen manga adaptation translations, and @nineofscans has monthly chapter translations and some bonuses!
I could never remember everyone and if your tastes diverge from mine there are also a bunch of really cool people who "specialize" in different characters and dynamics you will stumble upon out there.
you are all allowed to shamelessly plug yourselves or your faves in the replies/reblogs btw
#happy browsing!! i hope you find some cool people and fandom stuff to your tastes!!#and hello all of you! i hope you're having a good weekend :)#ask answered#not art#about the main tags issue:#nothing makes me more angry than bad faith criticism#especially in animation. if i see one more ''lazy animation'' accusation i am going to eat someone's kneecaps.#also i don't have time for all that complaining. i like to have fun you see.

New QSMP rules and why they needed to exist
1. The areas protected by the Administration/Federation cannot be broken, do not take advantage of bugs.
Or the admins "very bad, not good event". For people who weren't there, there was an event on Thursday for the liberation of Cellbit and Felps from the federation. The players tried to break in and discovered that you can destroy protected blocks with the symmetry wand. They spent hours doing it, only for the admins to erase the structure from the map so they would stop. On top of that, fit managed to find a way to vandalize the protected church using a watermelon gun yesterday.
This rule is obviously for story purpose. You can't really hide any structure in minecraft, so they don't have any other choice than putting the building in plain sight. If the players keep breaking the protected blocks, it can affect the story by revealing things that are only supposed to come up later. I can imagine the admins weren't happy to see all their hard work destroy by something they didn't know was possible, hence the ban.
2. XP farms are allowed as long as the spawner was generated naturally.
I don't know anything about XP farm in minecraft, but it's nice that they clarify this. There was always a doubt on the server about XP farms, which one was legal and which one was not. At least now, players know.
3. The video options are allowed as long as the range isn't excessively big.
Fun fact, yesterday I had a thought about how long before the video/audio became illegal due to things getting out of hands. So many things happen to justify this rule: Forever putting way too many blocks in Cellbit castle, The very loud Pac e Mike song, the bird block that cover the whole main area.
It's only a question of time before things get dirty with these. It can be very inconvenient for players (and viewers) that have sensitivity issues. Or really annoying at least. By restricting it, you ensure that players don't interfere in the enjoyment of others. (I'm pretty sure there were complaints about the bird noises. It was pretty harmless, but imagine if Forever had put something worse, like a loud music. It would have made La France, Favela and Phil's house unplayable areas.)
4. Do not modify too much the spawn area.
No ideas why this rules had been added now specifically. My only guess is that there is a significant amount of players going there now because of the Sharestone. But yes, it's a logical rule to ensure the spawn isn't the target of a Prank. If any of you know if something happen at spawn, I will edit this section.
5. It is prohibited to import or move structures with the Create mod or any other type of mechanisms.
Ah, This was quick. Yesterday, Bad and Dapper move a big tower on top of foolish dragon using the create mod for a prank. The problem was, the tower gives mining fatigue, making it almost indestructible. This discovery basically allows players to move anything, even constructions that are not their own.
You can imagine why this one exist. I was on Foolish stream yesterday, and he genuinely looked distraught at the alteration of is structure. Allowing players to move buildings at will? Terrible ideas. Not only could they do that to prank each other, but also they could break up lore building. Also, yesterday show that it's not that simple. Dapper destroyed part of the tower by moving it. The superglue is destruction and drama waiting to happen.
6.The deadline to complete the missions are 12am PST, after that, the missions will reset.
Not the twitter admins won't have to wait for BadBoyHalo to go to sleep so they could post the egg statistic update lol.
7. The eggs cannot have more than 2 immortality totems
This one is probably the most controversial, but logical for me. To paraphrase what Étoiles told Pomme yesterday: "with everything you have, it's impossible for you to dies. At least if the code isn't cheating". And I believe he is right. With the stasis chamber, the gears and the totem, it's almost impossible to kill an egg if the players are being careful. And we know they are trying really hard to take Pomme last life so the story could progress. The attack will not be like the last one, it will not be as unforgiving. So, with Bad doing totem traffic on the server, they needed a way to give a chance to the code and restricted them. If not, all eggs would have 30 totems by next week. X)
I really hope it increases the chances to have epic battle for the eggs while not dooming them.
#qsmp#qsmp rules#long post#I hope this give context#All of the rules are basicly a reaction to admins being like#“ oh shit I didn't know you could do that!”#The palyers are breaking them slowly with their inventivity#The funniest one to me was the superglues because it's Dapper (an ADMIN) who used it#Not a player

I apologise in advance if your favourite AU or a favourite OC didn't get in, but do know that this is only the surface level of how massive the multiverse can be. And just remember the one golden rule of the multiverse:
In the multiverse, everything is canon!
Yeah, we don't talk about THAT stuff, though.

Star Trek: Discovery ending in 2024
Anson Mount wrote a beautiful message after news came out that Star Trek: Discovery will be ending with a final 5th season in 2024:
"My Dearest Discovery Family,
You have charted the stars far beyond where our imaginations had ever taken us. In so doing, you have accomplished the mission: you have changed many lives, including mine. I love you, always.
- Captain Christopher Pike USS Enterprise, NCC-1701"
On his Instagram he also shared a cast group photo from Season 2.

13 books meme
Tagged by @littlestsnicket (thank you ❤)
1) The Last book I read: One Piece Novel Heroines by Jun Esaka, which I've already been posting about enough not to elaborate here
2) A book I recommend: can I copy your homework plagiarize the answer to this from the person who tagged me? Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. I know a lot of people find it too long or just not their cup of tea, but it's one of my all-time favourites, one of those books that feel like they were written for me specifically, and I cannot help recommending it to others :)
3) A book that I couldn’t put down: I remember reading TFOTA #2 and #3 (The Wicked King and The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black) in a single day. I was feeling unwell, and it was cold outside anyway, so I just spent most of the day reading in bed. I recall being surprised by how engrossed I was - the first book of this series didn't grow on me until well into its second half.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more): I have this sideblog on Twitter where I post a quote from Dracula per day (yes, manually, I don't know how to make bots lol). I just move down the text and skim it and pick sentences that catch my eye, and when I reach the end, I start from the beginning again. So, in a way, I am constantly in the process of rereading Dracula
5) A book on my TBR: Chrétien de Troyes' Perceval and a bunch of its continuations, Lolly Willowes by Sylvia Townsend Warner
6) A book I’ve put down: the thing is, if I don't really enjoy a book but still can find a good thing or two about it, I will keep reading and hoping it will improve eventually, and if I don't enjoy a book at all, I forget about it as soon as I put it down. Out of sight, out of mind - unless I particularly hate it. When I try to think of any books of the latter kind, the first to come to my mind usually is A Discovery of Witches. I found the worldbuilding really interesting, but damn, the protagonists were so annoying that I wasn't going to struggle through that brick of a book for it.
7) A book on my wish list: I need to get a copy of The Bad Beginning, The Wide Window, and The Hostile Hospital, and then I'll have the entire ASOUE collected! Would also love to get any other Snicketverse books; I only have Poison for Breakfast - bought it literally last weekend. I could buy them online, of course, but: 1) I prefer to avoid online shopping if there is realistic possibility for me to come across that item offline; 2) accidentally stumbling onto these books in bookshops (especially second-hand ones) when I least expect them feels like such a right experience for this series that I am inclined to continue acquiring them that way.
8) A favorite book from childhood: Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner... truly formative shit, responsible for at least 50% of my sense of humour
9) A book you would give to a friend: I was at my friend's place recently and noticed she had the exact same copy of Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury as I do. When I told her about it, she told me it was I who gave her that book (I forgot 🤦‍♀️) and that she loves it and rereads it almost every autumn :') So this one has definitely passed the test.
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own: I have a whole shelf full of poetry books, in fact. At least half of them weren't bought by me, but by my family members long before I was born, but presently all of them are considered mine :D Those that I bought myself include collections of poems by Christina Rossetti, Emily Dickinson, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Oscar Wilde, and Marina Tsvetaeva, among other things. And Useless Magic by Florence Welch!
11) A nonfiction book you own: I stumbled upon The Republic of Pirates by Colin Woodard in the same second-hand bookshop where I bought all the parts of ASOUE I currently have and couldn't believe my luck - I really wanted to read it after watching Black Sails! It's great.
12) What are you currently reading: Tristan and Isolde. Restoring Palamede by John Erskine. Really enjoying it so far; it sort of demystifies/disenchants Arthuriana but without excessive cynicism, with the narrator being understanding, perhaps even compassionate, when describing the characters' very realistic, human flaws. Technically I'm also reading E. W. Hornung's short stories about Raffles and Bunny through the Letters from Bunny Substack, but it's more like "desperately trying to catch up and failing". The stories themselves are delightful, but I was right to suspect that this way of reading books is not for me.
13) What are you planning on reading next? Dracula in Istanbul (the Turkish translation/adaptation of Dracula), courtesy of @seawilde <3
tagging @afoxnamedmulder, @seawilde, @lefresne, @uupiic, and @snckt; as always, feel free to ignore if you don't want to answer :)

Tunnels Series - What I'd like in an Adaptation
Brain dredged up this old series, so did a reread, looked through Roderick Gordon's Twitter, and saw that there's apparently a third attempt underway to get it adapted. Apparently the first went under in ~2012 when Relativity Media folded, and there was a second attempt, this time into the content mines of streaming rather than the silver screen, before the pandemic hit. Don't expect anyone will read this, let alone anyone who'll be in the writer's room, but here's my review of the series/what I'd do if I was adapting it. Mostly writing this to get thoughts out of my head so they stop taking up real estate there.
Tunnels
Very good, has some first bookisms. Would have Will and Cal observe Styx Division and Scientists conducting an excavation in the Eternal City to start teasing the Dominion plot during one of their trips through there, start hinting at Rebecca Twins (maybe move the reveal that there are two of them to Rebecca's reveal that she's a Styx instead of the end of Deeper), give them and the Crawfly more family bonding time (torturing Chester in the hold), build up the Uncle Tam-Crawfly feud more. Have Uncle Tam call out the Crawfly for the death of his father, and have the Crawfly be confused and deny it, to set up that mystery.
Deeper
Series hit its stride here. Only improvement is more interaction between Drake and Elliott, other renegades, and Coprolites to flesh out society in the Deeps.
Freefall
All cylinders. Will is in proper protagonist mode for this book, which gets rare as the series moves on. This is helped because Elliott is in a coma for the first half of the book, and Drake is Topsoil - those two are so OP they demote him and Chester to supporting cast. Maybe give Rebecca Two a scene with the two disgraced Limiters ordered to jump to their deaths down the Pore, build her up as a good leader. Also add a scene where Will asks Rebecca One about his grandparents' deaths at the hands of the Styx, she blames Grandma Macaulay on her sister (maybe true, I don't have headcanons for which Rebecca is onscreen before the twin reveal) but denies the Crawfly's involvement in his grandfather's.
Closer
Highest highs of the series (confrontation at the pyramid), but also where it starts fraying. As Hemingway wrote, "gradually, then suddenly." Apparently when Chicken House picked up The Highfield Mole for publishing, they had Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams outline a trilogy, then extended it when it became a success, which is why Freefall wrapped up with the Rebeccas apparently dead and Dominion captured. I'd delay the arrival of the Limiters to New Germania for a few weeks and give Rebecca Two an arc of navigating a new city as a foil of Will's discovery of the Colony. It also makes the timeline cleaner - Elliott tracked the Rebeccas and their Limiter back to the ancient passage after the ambush, and the reinforcements hadn't arrived by then, but it only seemed like a day at most between the ambush and the Rebeccas' arrival at the gates of New Germania. She discovers she can get affection from people without having to come up with sadistic ideas like throwing harmless grandmothers through a wood chipper, finds she likes the ability to reinvent herself without being defined by the role the Styx need her to play in their schemes, and wrestles with the fact that having lost the virus and the vaccine, she and her sister will be executed as incompetents if they show up in the Styx Citadel without them. She goes back to being evil and in charge the second the Limiters show up, but we see a side of her develop that'll become more prominent as the series goes on. Also give Johann Franz some character development to disguise that he's a morality pet plot device. Celia gaining disability superpowers to compensate for the loss of her vision due to intensive dark-lighting was a bit goofy. Eddie's reveal that he was behind everything was also goofy (what does Drake know/care about Grandpa Macaulay), I'd cut it down to Eddie saying that he intends to take control over the Styx after the rebels have humiliated their leadership and foiled the Dominion plot, but the rest of his scheming does remain canon for future reveals. He still leaves Drake and Chester to die in the exploding laboratories since they're no longer reliable pawns. Have the Styx not figured out Drake's real identity so they wouldn't have his father's estate on their list of places to periodically surveil?
Will's protagonist demotion starts happening in this book, but he gets his moment by powering through the blocked passage.
Spiral
Acutely suffers from Terminal being a gold standard for terrible endings, since it threw out the main plot of the previous three books (the Dominion virus) and grafts in a new plotline with no buildup, the Phase, which then gets resolved horribly in the final installment. Early installment weirdness is a page on TV Tropes for a reason, but if you're making changes thay big that late in the story there'd better be a great ending they're enabling that can't otherwise be gotten to. The Phase doesn't provide anything to the story that there weren't already the ingredients to do in the plot (depopulating Britain could've been done by the Dominion virus, giving the Styx enough troops to compete militarily can be done through New Germanians and Darklit Topsoil soldiers, and explaining why the Styx became so active was already done with Eddie's scheming rather than their hormones giving them a boner for murder). Giving the Styx an infinite army of unkillable shapeshifters is quite a corner to write oneself out of, and the Phase raises the series' rating from PG-13 to a Hard R. I would go off and do something completely different after Eddie's "attack" on the estate.
Terminal
Apparently this was supposed to be two books, then got cut into one to give the series an ending while keeping financial losses to a minimum. I wouldn't adapt any of this at all (see above on Phase plotline), but if I did I'd expand it to two books' worth of material to let the plot breathe rather than stringing together asspulls like a magician pulling 20 feet of handkerchiefs from his mouth in one continuous motion. Imagine Lord of the Rings if Frodo gets into the Fellowship to reprise his Uncle's role as burglar only, and the truth of the ring is only revealed at Mount Doom. Or if, instead of the Death Star plans being the focus of A New Hope's plot and we watch wave after wave of rebel fighters try to make the shot and get shot down by Vader, Luke gets the "use the Force" advice from Obi-Wan's ghost, shoots a random spot on the Death Star's surface, and it blows up. They'd be terrible, not legendary.
Terminal Part 1:
Will and Elliott stay in the Garden of the Second Sun for most of this one, ends with them taking the teleporter to Bishopswood. Maybe they meet the New Germanian survivors and Woody the bushman, maybe they get adapted out. Either way, Will earns the knowledge of Spaceship Earth through his father's notes about how to read the ancients' glyphs rather than Elliott getting her free will overridden by the computer program to retrieve the scepter, and they go to the surface with a plan rather than wandering around as Elliott is compelled by forces she can't control.
On the surface, the war against the Styx gets more detail. Have the Old Guard raid the Health Spa in Kent trying to repeat the Slough Factory, and get slaughtered by the Armagi. Climax of this plot is the attack on GCHQ, but where in actual Terminal the country had already fallen by this point and this seemed like Perry, Eddie, and Danforth wanting to set off their party trick, in this version they think they have a reasonable shot at destroying enough Armagi to retake the initiative. Let the Armagi run wild instead of having them immediately fall victim to mook decay through the nape weakness and Martha's Brights. Danforth gets time to agonize about having broken everything - if he hadn't tipped off the Styx about the incoming raid to infiltrate them, it would've wholly stopped the Phase, but he assumed they had a backup site rather than putting all the eggs in one basket. Rebecca Two's mourning of her sister and falling in love with Captain Franz gets more screen time, and her getting taken prisoner happens here instead of her getting knocked out and demoted to extra. She meets Eddie, realizes she wants the war to end because it's just getting the people she cares about killed and a world with humanity exterminated but only Armagi left isn't worth anything, and joins the good guys.
Terminal Part 2:
Will and Elliott show up on the surface, reunite with the rest of our heroes. Explain what they've learned, explain their plan to end the war without Britain being sterilized with Nuclear Fire. Teleporting the Styx into the inner world to die from the virus if they don't surrender is a last resort, but better and more reliable than nuclear annihilation. The only thing stopping an evil race with a genocide is a good race with a genocide is a clownish message (probably why the Elliott's free will was overridden plot point was added in), so Eddie, his Limiters, and Rebecca Two break into the Styx Citadel to start vaccinating the Styx population in case Herminone and the Old Styx don't play ball. Celia smells the Styx as they move through the Colony and gets to reunite with her ersatz daughter - after sending whichever Rebecca was on duty during Tunnels to Aunt Jean's, she never interacted with either of the twins for the rest of the series. Will and Chester get to interact, Chester's plot goes as written on a downward spiral of revenge as Danforth and Rebecca Two get forgiven. The museum heist and the final confrontation go mostly as they did in the books - maybe Will gets dragged down to the inner world as part of his Styx transformation. Instead of getting randomly disintegrated (Hermione didn't regard the Armagi as her true children, and Eddie regarded both the Warrior Class and Armagi as biological killing machines only, but this never got developed well in the books), the Armagi get transported down and die from the virus as they're not worth vaccinating. In the inner world, Rebecca Two kills Hermione as her final break from the Styx ideology and as punishment for condemning many of their race to die from the virus from obstinacy and preferring nuclear annihilation to surrender.
Overall, this assumes nothing too big in the plot changed from cutting two books' worth of material into one, and instead allows the ending to be more of a Hail Mary Pass than a complete ass pull. In Lord of the Rings, Gandalf explains the plan in the first few chapters: Sauron suffers critical existence failure if the ring is destroyed, he cannot imagine that people would want to destroy the ring rather than have it for themselves so Mount Doom is unguarded, however, one does not simply walk into Mordor. Also lets characters interact more and have arcs rather than being spectators or plot devices.
Something Completely Different
There's a screencap from an imageboard about Harry Potter's ending, saying that Harry should've been built up as the anti-Voldemort, striving to free wizarding society from its backwardness and injustices and beating Voldemort by arising to heights Voldemort can't reach due to self-imposed ideological limitations rather than Voldemort breaking a magical technicality and having his own spell backfire on him. In Star Wars, Luke Skywalker's greatest asset isn't his skill with his lightsaber or his piloting, it's his ability to bring out the best in people. He would've been shot down at Yavin if he hadn't inspired Han Solo to throw in with the Rebellion, and he ultimately gets his father to return to the light and strike down the Emperor. Those are the sort of endings I'd like for the adaptation.
From Deeper through Closer, it seemed Roderick Gordon was building the series' conclusion to something focused on Will's heroism inspiring an uprising against the Styx. The Old Styx and a Rebecca Twin discuss the possibility that Will could become a figurehead for their opponents before releasing Ultra Bug, in Freefall Celia meets Speed who's acquired massive respect for Will, whom he has the idea is being pursued by heavy hitters even though he doesn't know the truth about the Styx, and in Closer Eddie rebukes Drake's comment that at Waterloo the hand of fate was moving against Napoleon, and credited the victory to Wellington's ability to keep the 7th Coalition together. The Styx's power doesn't come from having an unbeatable army, it comes from their ability to subvert power structures and get people to play along with their mind games. When people do fight back, it causes problems, such as Sarah Jerome pushing the Twins into the Pore in her last act.
Off of that base outline, I'm only doing character arcs here, the particulars can be ironed out later:
Will Burrows:
Becomes a worthy heir to the legacies of Tam Macaulay and Sarah Jerome, and surpasses them in his ability to cause problems for the Styx. Takes over Drake's mantle as leader of the group. Exploits become known in the Colony, the Garden of the Second Sun, and Styx-occupied Topsoil.
Elliott Greene:
Alternate 5th book focuses on Styx trying to eliminate her to remove source of Dominion vaccine they don't control, and underworld's most renowned deadbeat dad Eddie trying to get back custody. Gets a heroic BSoD when she realizes her existence caused the whole plot (see Eddie's section below), snaps out of it when she realized the Styx made their own decisions to intensify his own manipulations, and they still need to be stopped.
Chester Rawls:
Arc remains generally the same as in written books. Parents get killed in Danforth's attempt to demonstrate bona fides to the Styx. Maybe decides to sell out group to the Styx in frustration, maybe gets pulled back from the brink by Will instead of dying? This is going to be a lighter and softer adaptation.
Celia Burrows:
Team Mom. Romance with Patrick/Second Officer postponed due to Styx retaining control of the Colony for longer, but still happens. Gets nerfed a bit from her feats in the books.
Drake:
Reconciles with Eddie. Dies heroically to clear the field for Will, no "survives a nuclear bomb with radiation poisoning while Rebecca One gets turned to charcoal because she wore black" plot armor.
"Eddie Greene":
Tries to take over the Styx, fails because he lost the argument about whether ecofascism should use genocide as a method when he was inside the tent p*ssing out, rather than outside the tent p*ssing in, and because he sees nothing wrong with the Styx's rule over the Colony, and can't offer an alternative vision for the future other than hope Topsoil society collapses before they drill into the Colony. Becomes revealed that after fathering Elliott, he, out of disgust for his own weakness, started to radicalize the Styx out of their decadence so no one else would suffer divided loyalties and to make his loyalties appear ironclad so no one would suspect he was spending time with his secret human family when he couldn't be found in the Citadel. He faked his death and deserted the Styx out of disgust for their perversion of an ideology he's a true believer in, rather than rejection of that ideology. Ultimately dies as a Face from love of Elliott, but doesn't get Flanderized into just being her dad like in the books.
"Rebecca One":
Torn between her lifetime of indoctrination and her desire to get revenge on Will Burrows for shooting her on one hand, and her sister jumping ship and getting to spend quality time hanging out with Elliott on the other. Not sure which she'll choose in the end.
"Rebecca Two":
Goes from self-interested deserter to heroic member of the gang. Has to swim upstream due to all the war crimes she committed as part of the Styx leadership, and her sister's infiltration gambit at the bottom of the Pore using up Will's remaining goodwill towards the Twins. Gets dumped by Johann due to the problematic age gap, power differential, and brainwashing underpinning their relationship, but maybe they'll get back together in the future once they have time to sort themselves out. Has an identity arc, but decides to stick with using Rebecca Burrows as her human name due to accepting her crimes as her own rather than running from them and growing to respect Will. Her defection is massive blow to Styx morale, as is well-liked among the rank and file for her exploits and being a benevolent leader, gets chunk of them to join the rebellion. Succeeds in this where Eddie failed because she realizes how screwed up the Styx society of raising everyone as monastic racial holy warriors starved of genuine affection is, and offers a meaningful vision of a better world. Tries to go three for three on saving her sister, the time being saving the soul rather than bodily danger.
"The Old Styx":
Gets a bit more character development than he did in the books, gets shown that he was once a lot more chill, but felt he was wasting his life and hadn't accomplished anything, and then got radicalized by the Crawfly into a true believer in the Dominion plot. His penchant for quoting Topsoil poetry and literature comes from this period in his life. No redemption arc, gets defeated.

In the darkest corners of the multiverse, where planes collide and realities intertwine, there existed a forgotten corner where a Sorcerer Supreme resided. Stephen Strange has experienced countless epic battles and saved the world on countless occasions.
One day, while Strange was exploring unknown dimensions, he encountered a mysterious presence, Morgan le Fay. Both were surprised by the other's presence, although their worlds were radically different.
Morgan, unlike Strange, was known as an evil witch, but behind her enigmatic facade lay a complex history filled with loss and loneliness. Magic was the only solace in her life—a tool to protect herself from a hostile world that feared her.
For days and nights, Strange and Morgan shared knowledge and experiences. Through their conversations, Morgan began to see Strange differently, not only as the powerful wizard who knew the world but also as a man with doubts and longings, struggling to balance duty and passion.
On the other hand, Strange was captivated by Morgan's wisdom and unique understanding of magic. Magic, which had once been just a tool for him, became a means to discover the deeper meaning of his existence.
As their relationship deepened, Strange and Morgan began to explore the darkest corners of the multiverse together, facing unimaginable dangers and uncovering secrets that had remained hidden for millennia. With each new discovery, their connection grew stronger, and soon they realized they had fallen in love.
Despite the differences in their worlds and their reputations, Strange and Morgan fell in love. However, their feelings were not shared by all. Many wizards and witches considered them a dangerous couple, joining forces between two opposing worlds.
Several even claimed it was something that should never have happened, and many others were horrified.
One day, while exploring one of the many dimensions, they found an object that had been sought for centuries by the most powerful wizards of the multiverse. That object that had the power to control time had long been lost. They both knew they had to protect it no matter what, as its power could be used for good or for evil, the multiverse could be in a huge danger in wrong hands.
But another problem appeared in their lives; they knew that the rest of the wizards were going to separate them one way or another, even if it meant war.
Strange and Morgan found themselves in a dilemma. They knew that the outcome of the battle could end their lives and their love. But they also knew they could not turn their backs on their duty.
It was at that moment that Morgan made a decision. She would use all her magic to protect Strange during the battle, even if it meant her own death. She didn't care about the cost; maybe in some other life, they could be together.
That night, Morgan sent him to safety place while he slept. She hoped that someday he would forgive her and understand her reasons; perhaps the rumors about her were true.

I finally got my 2024 Apr Camp NaNoWriMo Official Winner Certificate!
Did Tech Support finally answer my frantic plea? Well, no. But I had read something about recreating the record to get the record connected with the offical NaNo project. So, I searched in Support and found this.
I followed these directions to create an identical project. I copied every day's entered word count and put it in again.
NOTE: You must go to the Stats menu option
Go to your account's page
My plea for help that went unanswered. This post was actually deleted!
So I created an unofficial certificate on Canva.com and put it on social media. I was very upset.
Here was my official project, and I hit my goal and had badges...but no winner graffiti. It wasn't linked as an official project. I'd seen a banner telling me to link it, but when I tried, every project I ever did was listed...except this one, that I just won with.
I looked up on the forums what someone else tried, and they accidentally deleted their project! I posted on the forums about my problem. The other post had been from November. But both that one and mine got deleted! I figured no help was coming, so I made my Unofficial NaNoWriMo Winner Certificate and posted it to Twitter, with a link to the doc for others to create their own if they liked.
But, I'm not one to just give up. So, I tried creating a new project. First, i went to my account main page.
Under My NaNoWriMo on the bar, I chose Projects to get to this one, then Stats to get my word counts per day.
If you left click and drag your mouse so your daily counts are highlighted, you can Ctrl-C [or Control-C] on a Mac to copy this to the clipboard. Open a Notepad file and Ctrl-V to paste. Use this later.
Go back to your Projects page and create a new project. Note that, you must do this before Apr 30 or you can't choose Camp NaNo for your Goal.
I then went in Stats on the NEW project I just created and did Add New Update. Only on the Stats page can you add words for a different day than today!
Now my project says Winner [the top one of the two Galactic Ministers' Staff Projects, on the right side of the bar]
And, I was able to click on it and download my official certificate! Yes, it's a .pdf, but I opened it and did a screenshot with the Game Bar, that's Windows-G if your keyboard has the Windows button on it. It brings up choices for screenshot or movie, and is handy. Find the screenshot in Video->Captures and double click. Use the cropping tool in Photos and save a copy. Now you can post your Winner Certificate to your social media!
That's how I fixed my project so it now says Winner. Good luck to all of you!
Yes, I am upset at what happened on the youth forums. This happens on a lot of forums, and I think the answer is for someone brilliant to write an AI that can detect these vile people! It is bad that it happened, but I still participated, not in support of perverts who took advantage of innocent youth just trying to enjoy writing. I still think the spirit of NaNo is good, and I will continue to set my goal and write 3 times a year.
But now I am adding the also 3 times a year Royal Road Writeathon to my yearly bucket. If you wanna read my latest project, it is
Ella's Saga
Ella stays busy to cope with her chaotic life, but she meets Farley, who gives her a new kind of pocket computer, and she realizes he's connected to SETI's discovery today. Farley also has some unusual knowlege of Ella's future, which makes her realize she needs to rethink her priorities. There is much more to life than good grades and pursuit of her programming career. Her skills are badly needed in Farley's home.
I had 988 views yesterday, so if it sounds interesting, please go read for free! I plan to add chapters daily 'til it's finished, then delete it from Royal Road and put it on Amazon Kindle. Comments and rating greatly appreciated! I love the Royal Road folks and I'm glad to be a member of the Penguins Group [LOL that's the default group for members of Royal Road and there's a forum post explaining it].

Hopefully back for good
Hey everyone, you might not recognize me but it's actually @bigbluebeast talking here. I wanted to start anew here since I've been so so inactive over on my old main account, plus alot about me has changed so I feel a new account is necessary.
As seen by my username I go by FerelBasta now, I still have the name That Blue Otter here since they're one of my sonas/selves, my otter self ( Beast) and my Daeodon self ( Ferel ), there is a third self but thats more personal. I also now identify as non-binary and asexual and go by they/them and he/him, just these make me feel alot better in my own skin. I've also have been searching within regarding my religious beliefs, but I won't get into too much of that until I decide to talk more on it, basically alot about myself has changed regarding how I was on this website may years ago...
I want to apologize first off to being so inactive... everywhere really. My personal life has not been the best due to certain things going on that really prevented me from sitting down and just getting some art done how I used to do back then, mainly starting in 2016... I've been over this countless times it feels but a rather drastic event happened over on twitter that caused my derailing from creating any artwork, I became very nervous and scared to really post much of anything thanks to what happened and looking back all these years nothing has changed. My depression and the events had caused me to shy away from creating and just watch from afar, I knew I was always bad with starting and then just stopping, but things were taken to a new extreme now. The past four years especially didn't help anything regarding my healing due to finding a job where I was harassed and then... something awful happening between me and a family member near the end of 2020, which did lead to my discovery of me being non-binary but.. I still wish things went better... I ended up finding a different job in the middle of 2019 but ever since the pandemic hit I wasn't able to function at that job anymore.. plus even more harassment from co-workers doesn't help either. Though despite all this.. it soon seemed like something was going to change.
Near the end of February of 2021 I was talking with a good friend of mine over the phone, she and I have known eachother ever since we met on twitter in 2016, and in 2019 we started to talk again after two years of silence from both ends. I remember it was that very evening she admitted she felt in love with me.. and honestly I felt the very same way with her <3 I had started to feel some sort of adoration for her after we started talking on the phone, just hearing her voice and bonding with her made me feel things I never really felt before, sure I had puppy love crushes on some friends before but that was because I'm a rather cuddly and affectionate person to begin with, but this time? hearing she felt the same way just set things in stone.. I had found love. She then came to visit in March of that same year and we've been inseparable ever since, yes we do have our moments but what couple doesn't have them? We've been growing stronger and closer as time went on and I feel thanks to her I felt like life was worth living.. like there are things to look forward to and do.. just having someone like her with me makes me feel so happy and thankful to be alive.
I believe in late 2021 I returned here with a new blog relating to help myself cope with things going on in my life and just with life in general, but due to certain things happening I have again fell off the horse for maintaining said blog. I won't get into too much because it's very personal but I'll just say that I was struggling with where I stood regarding certain things around it. I have since settled and stood my ground on where I am with it all and I'm feeling alot better about it, the same could also be said about my religious beliefs, I grew up christian but I never ever identified with being one due to... well... more personal things but I recently discovered a religion that I felt like I belonged in, Kemeticism. I'll save most of the info for its own post but to just make it brief, I have always loved the culture and history of ancient Egypt ever since I was a very young kid, and I had a awakening of some sorts after coming to terms when a game I play had a Egyptian themed event going on, now it really feels like I found where I truly belong...
We now come to when I'm writing this entry, the start of my new dA account and some tumblr as well! I just last night fixed what was going on with my tablet because it wasn't working properly which prevented me from making any new art, that and I lot access to photoshop CS5 due to my laptop needing to be updated and... the program was outdated for the OS... ofc... BUT! I still have Clip Studio Paint so until I get another art program to do the coloring and touch ups in, thats what I will be working with. I will also be posting my traditional sketches here and tumblr just so I have stuff to offer to everyone, this will be a rough journey of relearning how to not be afraid and just get to making things that make me happy, but it seems like I'm on the right path
Thats all I have to say for now, but until next time, I hope to see everyone again soon,
Thank you for reading <3

Fax to Max
Just sent this Fax to Max. Feel free to copy it or use it as a basis for anything you write or say to them on the phone. I also included b/w images of one of the numbers we do know about and some of WBD's guiding principles.
Btw faxed for the first time yesterday. Very excited!
Dear Mr. Zaslav,
I am writing to you concerning some recent news about the WBD-owned streaming service Max.
I was saddened to hear of the cancellation of Our Flag Means Death last week. However, my sadness has since turned into confusion and outrage.
Our Flag Means Death has consistently outperformed many other Max properties that have been renewed for another season, such as The Gilded Age and And Just Like That. Our Flag Means Death has a huge and passionate fanbase, online engagement with related key words are massive, not to mention the show is a critical success. I would like to point out the 94% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. Our Flag Means Death has also appeared on many year-end "Best of 2023" lists.
All this is despite the fact that Season 2 has not even aired in most parts of the world. Season 1 brought in another huge wave of viewers when it was released on the BBC and made available for purchase on YouTube.
Moreover, Max has promoted it as one of their "Biggest Hits" when one logs into one's account. Especially among young and queer audiences, the show enjoys immense popularity.
Our Flag Means Death is now the latest in a long line of queer-centered shows that have been cancelled prematurely. And quite frankly, queer audiences are getting sick of it. We are a big and active demographic and many of us have plenty of disposable income. Indeed, I spent some of mine to buy Our Flag Means Death on YouTube, even though I had already seen it on the BBC - which I also pay for.
To add insult to injury, yesterday Max CEO Casey Bloys made the following statement: "I need Gay Twitter to come out and support The Gilded Age." This truly felt like a slap in the face, considering "Gay Twitter" has been tweeting about our wishes for another season of Our Flag Means Death for over a week at this point.
Your company appears to have gravely misjudged what gay viewers want from their media. A show like The Gilded Age, which features only one major character who is queer, does not cut it. We are after rounded, diverse queer characters, like those in Our Flag Means Death, not one single rich, white, cis gay man in a sea of heterosexual characters.
On Our Flag Means Death, Bloys later added, "the numbers weren't there for a renewal." I am very curious as to which numbers he is referring to. Max do not release their
streaming stats. But the mass-exodus of Our Flag Means Death from Max is anything to go by, I highly doubt his statement is accurate!
At this point I would also like to quote one of Warner Bros. Discovery's own guiding principles: "Intentionally seek out diversity, remove barriers, and create space for all to share ideas and be heard. Actively listen and lead with empathy, integrity, and transparency."
Suffice it to say Our Flag Means Death's fans have made themselves heard - numerous news outlets and Max's social media managers can attest to that. What we are missing at this stage are your "empathy" (calling on gay viewers after cancelling a show beloved by gay people is frankly offensive), "integrity" (sticking to your principles on seeking out and empowering diversity), and "transparency" (Bloys claims the numbers aren't there we have no way of verifying his statement).
To sum up, I implore you to follow one of your other guiding principles: "acknowledge mistakes and learn from them." Cancelling Our Flag Means Death was a grave mistake that you have the power to undo.
Please do so.
I look forward to hearing the announcement of Our Flag Means Death Season 3 soon. Thank you for your consideration.
Yours sincerely,

Imma talk shop a bit. By shop I mean, webcomics. and by webcomics, I'm gonna highlight one I HAD to read recently because of what the author/artist said about a specific character in said comic. So let's dive in and talk about EQUALIZE ( a crime/mystery drama! but it has romance elements that I focus on entirely too much >:3c ) (All pictures of the comic link to tapas, and the twitter quote links to the actual thread, so you can read it for yourself) (I read it on Tapas, but it's also on webtoons) Here we have Crow- he is my favorite. For obvious reasons. Look at his fashion!
a Bi in deNIal. (I know I really forced that rhyme)
He is an informant working for the police to find a kidnapper and he also knows something that no one else knows but everyone WANTS to know which, naturally, paints a target on his back.
He also doesn't know how to knock on doors. He just picks the lock. ( now I know you're probably thinking, INvaSIoN of PrIVacY, but it's a funny gag, and it's fiction so calm down and don't get worked up over it. Nic yells at him for it anyway)
We also have Nic, he's just... SUCH a great foil for Crow. He's way more relaxed and chill, and takes things as they come. Wants to do more than stand on the sidelines. The "tired of running from problems, tired of not being strong enough to protect the ones I love" person and we get to see that growth as he works with Crow through various near death situations. Now see, Nic is important because while saving Crow from being kidnapped, he manifests a strange power
The mark appears on his hand and what it does is equalizes... the strength of him and his opponent... I think- Uh don't quote me on that, my attention isn't really on HOW the powers work It's literally on the characters and their struggles. Terrible I know. How dare I only focus on the story beats I LIKE and not know every single thing about this comic inside and out, THE NERVE- Btw there are other uses with other symbols and they have different powers so like, if you wanna read it to see how that pans out, do it! It's all plot relevant! :D I do kind of pay attention. But back on task, Nic has this power that gives him an edge in helping Crow out, so he gets cleared to help! Which is great because it's the buddy cop duo we all love and adore-
complete with the "when you try to follow a lead and it ALL GOES HORRIBLY WRONG" and it brings the two buddies closer
now I won't spoil too much for you, Just tease you enough to make you read it, of course, but I will say, that all these juicy details weren't what drew me into reading this comic. Nope. It was literally just interacting with the creator, and what they said about Crow from one of the episodes of Crow's slow self discovery. I'll post the exact exchange that was said by the artist themself below. vvvv
The part that REALLY resonated with me was
Because a freaking week before this episode went live, I had just come to terms with the very same thing about myself. XD I was like "I'm pan, but don't talk about it, I can't ever really come out because of where I live and how most of my immediate family would not approve" yadda yadda. Most of you know about that if you read the read more- don't read those. I'm just screaming into the wind. Now I'm more relaxed about it, but like, I read that and KNEW and UNDERSTOOD that struggle. The rejecting the way you feel about something. The other reason I wanted to read it was also because I have a character named Crow, and they look similar! I think Celly's Crow is smarter than mine though, but I think my Crow is stronger than Celly's Crow XD
All in all, this series is SO fun, it's got the buddy cop vibe down, with your good strong story beats, interconnecting web of events, and balances the comedy with the main plot seamlessly. The comedy is top notch and it had me laughing OUT LOUD and rooting for characters- The personalities, the struggles, the past conflicts and where characters are at headspace wise and growth wise feels very realistic and it draws you in.
And I love the art so much. It's unique and stands out and the colors are so fitting for the characters, and I've drawn fanart for this series already don't @ me, I already ship crowxnic and they are the cutest. when canon? when kiss for real? That ends my lil essay about this series. Celly is super nice! So, go find them on Instagram or the site formerly know as Twitter. -> Sunnycelly. (this links to instagram) And go read this comic! NOW go FORTH and read some buddy cop BL for goodness sake. (it's not LISTED as a romance, but I see the BROMANCE) (I was so sold on the comedy of the series though too, I cannot express enough how engaging this series is. I love it an unhealthy amount)
#Equalize#webtoons#Tapas#Buddy cop BL#Buddy cop BL is now a new genre#Make it law#Webcomics#I should make a video#but that would require editing WORK#and I'm laaaazy#I don't think the romance is the focus#but it's MY focus#Crime drama mystery#mystery#buddy cop#please read this series#I need friends to read it so we can talk about it#plz

Hello birdies~ How is your summer going? I hope everything is being wonderful. Mine has been a roller coaster since it started, growing bigger and still not ending. There are a *lot* of news I want to share with you. The first one is that I'm focusing my social media attention officially in Youtube, Tiktok and Tumblr. What happened with Instagram and X(Twitter), BlueSky, etc.? Well, the true is...I was accused underhanded of 'plagiarism' because one of my main characters, Von Farel(the good sir that can be seen in these images) uses dreadlocks, the same as another character of other author. That's where the similarities end, but I was faced with a cold room in which I discovered the issue by some kind of miracle(and lovely people who told me in private). Once my point was defended in a threat, the cold treatment stopped, but I have little patient for this kind of behavior because I face two huge cases of art bullying years ago that destroyed my self-steem as a comic artist. So, as usual, I've decided to distance myself from the community and focusing on my craft and the artists focused on theirs. Which lead me to another topic, and is...I'm moving to work for a year to Japan! Yay, woaaah, *claps* /silly! I'm so happy I can barely breathe! I've never thought I'll be able to visit the country, let alone work on it. Preparations have been on the table, spending time with my family(who I would barely see next year) and above all, mentalize myself to learn from one of the biggest countries in videogame development and comic (manga, webtoon). To say I'm exciting is an understatement. In case you want to, I've decided to make a vlog with all my discoveries (it will be in Spanish but there would be English subtitles). This would also be an opportunity for me to speak in English in my main account...I'm so shy it's criminal haha To sum up! Here is where you can find me now: 🦋 My main Youtube account: https://www.youtube.com/@AnabelReinaArt 🦋 My Vblog about Japan(still in diapers): https://www.youtube.com/@LadyUtsuroBune 🦋 My Tiktok account: https://www.tiktok.com/@anabelreinaart 🦋And of course, this tumblr account <3 I'll still be a little disconnected of everything until the end of September, where I hope I would be officially established in Japan. Wish me tons of luck, I'll need it.

The Fandom Game
I’m not that kind of nerd…”
I like to say this when it comes to repairing equipment like computers or knowing how to write code. If it is more of a technical skill or a problem that requires practical knowhow, then, well, I’m not that kind of nerd. If you want useless sci-fi trivia and deep-seated opinions on superhero costumes, then I am the dork you are looking for. When it comes to video games, I am definitely an outlier.
Not possessing any talent for playing games from any generation’s console isn’t the only reason why I am not a gamer. The hardware and downloadable content can get expensive, but the cost is only a partial factor for my gaming negligence. Like so many things in life, it comes down to time and the lack thereof.
Gaming continues to develop its own broad subculture, and like any major form of entertainment, video games are varied among not just genres, but fandoms as well. When I was kid, of course I played. My gaming habits dwindled as I entered my late-twenties and gradually evaporated further as I crossed into my thirties. Now in my forties, playing something as simple as solitaire on my phone doesn’t interest me. I don’t feel superior to gamers, but the fact remains that when I do have recreational time, it is never a choice of mine to fire up the gaming console. The older PlayStation in my home mainly serves as a way to stream series and movies - and that’s the machine gets activated at all.
A lack of spare time plagues many people, and it is true that the older you get, the less interested you are in the hobbies of one’s youth. This is the case for me, but the video game industry is still producing games and content. The video game business takes its wins and losses like any other, but the gaming community remains active and steadfast. They certainly don’t need me, though I like to think I’d be welcome. But would I actually be, though?
It’s very easy to focus on the ugliness of a fandom. Comment sections and forums are rife with negativity, and the nasty gatekeepers seem to be the most prevalent. On any end of the gaming fandom spectrum, there will be bitterness and rage, so it is not difficult to be turned off and ignore the whole thing. Despite this, I have a curiosity about what goes on in the gaming universe despite not playing myself (it’s not too far of a stretch since my appearance is that of a standard nerd). This peripheral interest is nurtured by what my social media feeds think I want to see. Even my digital presence is misconstrued as a gamer.
Dipping your toe into a new fandom can always be daunting, so what is it about gaming that feels so unwelcome? Especially when I have a preexisting fascination? Perhaps feeling like an uninvited outsider isn’t accurate. Numerous gaming communities and channels are fun and operated by friendly folks who encourage noobs to join in. The unappealing element of gaming belongs to anything that makes seem not fun.
I don’t expect to enter any new fandom thinking I am familiar with every nuance that exists within lores as well as the history of the subculture. A casual scroll through X showcases several hot takes by gamers displaying their thoughts on the app formerly known as Twitter. There is an abundance of accounts posting what at least seem to impulsive opinions on a character’s appearance or how they are used in a story. Welcome to the Internet, right? I’m not even going into the whole “toxic” territory. Frankly, it doesn’t matter much which sect of fans it is or where their extreme views come from. Eventually, it all becomes, well, not fun.
A legion of nerds with bad taste isn’t exactly a new phenomenon or enough to dissuade me from simply trying something new. Board games, films, television series, sports, comic books - no fandom is immune to the eye-roll-inducing cringe-base that seem like they are only around to purposely turn off potential newcomers. Again, you’d think it’s day two of my online journey and I’m just now discoveries that meanies log in and tweet out things other than kittens and fluffy pillows. What I’ve deduced after considering so many similarities shared by multiple forms of entertainment is that yes, there will be unpleasant people who “well actually” folks while they themselves need to be well-actually’d - and sure, I will disagree with the majority of my my fellow fans other opinions - but the bottom line is, I only have so much bandwidth.
In my early forties, there isn’t enough motivation to shoehorn yet another obsessive pop culture hobby thing into my already taxed fan-brain.
Play on to those that play. I’m sure the gaming universe will continue just fine without this kind of nerd.
