My take on the (extremely) short lived doll line, Fairy Tale High. This was a doll line that appeared in 2013 and disappeared soon after with very little fanfare. If you can't tell from the name, it takes inspiration from Disney and Ever After High, in which it's fairy tale princesses during their high school days. There were also two (very short) webisodes on YouTube that you can watch as well.
From right to left: Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Alice, Rapunzel, Little Mermaid, Belle, and Tinkerbell.

dae zone out while watching a youtube video abt discontinued doll lines of the early 2000s only to suddenly regain sentience while the narrator is describing a lesbian dog bondage graphic novel. or is that just me.
#to be clear the graphic novel IS based on a discontinued doll line so like. it was on topic.#but wow! was that not something i was prepared to learn abt today

EHEHEHE THE TOY EXPO WAS AWESOME It was a lot quieter/smaller than some of the ones I've been to before, but honestly that was fine and I got to take a longer look around.
And I got SOOOOO LUCKY!!!! I got Dayna Jones, Peri and Pearl Serpintine, and Jane Boolittle. Three dolls on my "must get" list!
I like Dayna Jones the most out of a lot of the G2 girlies bc her design is really cute (and her dress flips to another style). Peri and Pearl are so unique, I love the fact the doll has two heads, its so unique and they're probably my favorite (and the best imo) from the Great Scarrier Reef doll line. Jane is one I have been wanting forever since I started collecting. I'm just so happy to have found these three!
Not pictured from my haul is a Rainbow High girlie I grabbed (Gabriella Icey is her name I think) I don't normally grab a Rainbow High girl but she was cute and cheap and had no outfit and just a stand but I have a spare outfit to give her later so I can make her more unique. The second cool item I grabbed is a chair/stand for a MH doll, I think it's from a Draculaura playset but I can't pinpoint where its from. I don't have enough doll stands and its a super cute chair so it's perfect for one of my Draculauras
#im probably gonna put my very first drac in the chair#she's the reason im so into MH and collecting dolls#i forgot to take pics of the other two but you'll see them later#all of these were 47 dollars total so it was a STEAL#the guy was a new stand and he had CRAZY good selection#the mh stand was 10 bucks and the rainbow high girl was 5 dollars#which is so good considering how many people sell 1 doll for over 60 dollars#there was a mousedes at another stall in the box for 50 but i decided against it#there was also a booth that had these goth dolls from like a way older discontinued line which were so cute but they were 100 dollars each#so... a no from me as cool as they were#less scalper-y people there too there was an issue with that before haha#dollposting

Being soo patient about seeing the new g3 dolls
#I’m just. Outside of how happy I am for a fat MH doll#It’s going to be so great to have a fat body type easily available on the market. I’ve had to get so creative with my customs#Because there just aren’t options. I’ve used a couple Luisa dolls but since they’re unarticulated it’s a really extensive#Process to even get them to a stage I can start working on the custom yknow#Jacy from wild hearts crew also works but again. I can’t rely on a discontinued line forever

Speaking of Na Na Nas... I just did a cute
clothing exchange with my little niece! lol. [Cute Doll Stories ahead... read at your own risk.]
So as you might know [or more than likely not know], in my unboxing channel, my little 'now' 11 year-old niece has been the one that has helped me unbox Na Na Na Minis. The first time I ever came across them that is.
Here is the video to prove it. [Watch at your own risk. It's chaotic, and the camera movements are fun and might give you motion sickness. No for real... don't watch if you get dizzy too fast. But if you don't get dizzy, feel free to watch it.]
youtube
Anyway... So I unboxed these cute dollies with her. Then, since I really really liked the one dollie I gave her, I did another unboxing of Na Na Nas [can you tell they're my faves? lol.], and I unboxed the same girl again. The girl I'm talking about is Bianca Bengal.
[my unboxing in case you wanna see it.]
youtube
Bianca Bengal originally came with a tiger outfit that says Stripes, but TODAY, of all days I exchanged her outfit for Tiger Linda's outfit.
[pictured here are Sasha Scratch, Cinnamon Sparkle, and Bianca Bengal with her original outfit] [during that unboxing, I gave Bianca Bengal and Cinnamon Sparkle to my niece.
[pictured above, Screencap of Tiger Linda in her original dress... ]
I had bought Tiger Linda for my niece because she expressed interest in the dollie. She's a growing kid and she's starting to frown at dolls, but she seems more relaxed about it when she comes around to me, because I feel that she's not embarrassed about it, like kids tend to be. You know, when in school and they tease you for playing with dolls at 10, 11, or older. [cause how dare you play with dolls! You're TOO OLD now. That's a bunch of BS, to be honest, but I won't get into it.]
So she and I decided that Tiger Linda's clothing fit Bianca Bengal's better. And we decided to exchange them. So now, my Bianca Bengal is wearing Tiger Linda's outfit, and Tiger Linda whom I gave to my little niece today, is wearing my Bianca Bengal's outfit.
[pictured below is my Bianca Bengal with her new outfit. Which in my little niece's and my opinion, fits her better.]
Also, dolls, they get creative kids thinking! My little niece sat there telling me the life stories of all my little Na Na Na minis. From Rebel Dare being the one that 'KNOWS ALL THE SECRETS and is a BAD ASS', to Dottie Demille being villainous enough to destroy all her brothers and sisters and turn them into a coat that she's wearing [her brothers and sisters being the rest of the Na Na Na minis.] I was like... WOW, see? Dolls don't just sit there and look pretty, they inspire these kids!
lol, I loved her stories and her plots, and I love how she feels free enough to ask me to let her play with the Na Na Nas every time she comes to visit. I'm happy when she just relaxes enough to do that. Makes me feel like I'm not failing her too much as an adult.
... though I'm not her mom, but still.
#Youtube#Na Na Na Surprise Minis#Na Na Na Surprise Teens#Na Na Na Surprise Dolls#Dolls#Doll Collector#Beautiful Dolls#Cute Dolls#MGA#MGA's BEST doll line ... in my opinion#too bad they are discontinued.... *glares at CEO*#or whoever decided to discontinue them#and also *glares at picky ass doll collectors who gave them a bad rep*#Na Na Na Surprise#Cute Doll Stories

The doll in the photo was from a line that was discontinued in 1997 (The third photo down on the right seems to be of that line). It took Mattel until 2019 but they did (eventually) introduce Barbies with disabilities again. They were a part of the Fashionistas line of dolls which were intended to bring more diversity to the Barbie lineup. So don’t worry, you can still definitely get a Barbie doll that uses a wheelchair :3
Feeling this right now :(
#I also couldn’t find a source for the claim that they discontinued it because it didn’t fit in the door???#it seems like the Becky Smiles line of dolls (which also had a Barbie w a prosthetic leg)#was actually fairly popular but was discontinued somewhat quickly#so yeah they were discontinued a little quickly but I couldn’t find any verification it was cuz the doll didn’t fit through the door tho

PSA for people who got into Barbie because of the movie:
Just because it was in the movie doesn't mean it's like, an actual fact about the line or Mattel.
Like, the idea that Earring Magic Ken was discontinued. Like. Yeah, he was, but that's how all doll releases work? He had a normal run for a doll. He wasn't cancelled early or pulled from shelves. They still make Ken dolls. "Discontinued" is really misleading. By that logic all the Barbies in Barbie land not being currently sold in stores are discontinued. Ponytail 1959 is discontinued. President Barbie is discontinued. Ect. Ect.
Also those tiktoks claiming to explain Barbie history and lore? A lot of those are spreading misinformation as well. Just be careful at taking info at face value.

this story is so much the best thing ever
For years I have been trying to find and contact the people who originally made Bohug and friends. I may have finally made some progress today! Here is the journey:
Bohug, the bear from the “My Best Friend” thermal plush line, was made by the Prestige Toy Corp. and distributed by Carter’s in the mid to late 90’s. I received Bohug when I was born in 1999. I started by contacting Carter’s, who only have information about items 2 years old or younger. Dead end Number 1.
Looking up “Prestige Toy Corp.” gets us eBay listings for toys they made, various pages with mismatched addresses, and a page on the Giggle Guide with a dead phone number. Dead end Number 2.
Finally, I found an article on a blog specifically all about toys that said that Rashti and Rashti acquired Prestige Toy Corp. in 2015, and they actually have an active site and phone number!!! I called said phone number and explained my situation and inquiries, and even the person on the other line said it looked like there is little to no record of the company. They will get back to me by the end of the day with any new findings.
Not only do I want to get in contact with them to discuss image and likeness rights, but just to thank them for making My Best Friend. My life has always had Bohug in it, and for that I wish to extend my gratitude to the people who made him. The ultimate dream is to meet the person or the team that designed him. To speak with the people who made the one thing that has been a constant in my entire life. I hope, and even pray in the rare occasion, that the stars align for that to happen!
Thank you for reading this far! If I get any updates I will let you all know.
#i also have dolls from this same line that ive had since i was a baby and that have since been discontinued#getting to make more of them is just . wow. im so happy for op

Mattel cancelling dolls and discontinuing lines because they aren’t selling well is just so annoying.
They aren’t selling well because they’re fucking ugly.
That’s literally it.
#monster high#like it’s very obvious why they aren’t selling well hello 💀#g3 ghoulia is cute but a lot of people didn’t like her design so ofc they didn’t buy her#and Skulltimate secrets? they should’ve stopped that line after the first 3 tbh#the Howliday dolls are cute but they could and should be better#just like. give people better quality stuff?? and maybe your ratings won’t suck???#Pls sell me the company I can fix it for you

My Barbie 2023 movie reaction
Overall I liked it! I think it was a lot of fun. Spoilers ahead!
Things I liked a lot:
The discontinued barbies! ("There's a TV in my back. You know who's dream that is? NO ONE'S")
Kate McKinnon. Weird Barbie. Obviously. ("Sorry we called you Weird Barbie behind your back. And also to your face.")
Ken acting like Barbie's 2 year old/puppy when they first get to the real world. ("Can I go for a walk?" "Don't go far!" *staring at Barbie as he walks away*)
Seeing the dolls in the end credits!
Finding out Gloria is Barbie's human. A mom playing with Barbies! Having happy memories about her dolls! Getting to meet her favorite doll IRL and the way they bonded! And they were so cute squeeing and fangirling over each other when they first met!
Alan.
The last line Barbie speaks.

Here is doll number 1 of my Wonderland Dolls series, The White Rabbit. She is a 27cm Obitsu with the W04 head rooted with white synatra and pink nylon from @customdollhairau wearing official Obitsu shoes and a custom made outfit by me. I haven't customised an Obitsu doll since my teen years due to how this line of Obitsu dolls have been discontinued, but I knew a special event like @wonderlandofplay needed a special line of dolls to showcase my skillset with. She'll be available for sale in Brugge on June 1st!

♡ Pinky and Pepper Forever is a 2018 comic by Eddy Atoms. The comic explores a couple of anthropomorphic, lesbian dog-girls as they navigate their way through their relationship and their studies at art college (sounds familiar)
♡ Upon a devastating turn of events, the pair end up in hell, yet they seem to revel in it.
♡ The comic has many trigger warnings and a lot of NSFW content.
♡ I really resonate with the beautiful and distinct style of the comic! Of course I am drawn to the big doe eyes :>
♡ Why Pinky and Pepper Forever feels relevant to my practise is because of the source material. Pinky and Pepper are not actually Eddy’s original characters, but are derived from a discontinued and unsuccessful doll-line ‘Pinkie Cooper and her Jet Set Pets.’
♡ This is another great example of the juxtaposition between The Cute and The Abject, and of the obsession with taking overtly innocent things and perverting them.
♡ In addition, I just kind of love the Uncanny design of the dolls. They are dogs, but they have beautiful brush-able hair and lashes with canine mouths.
I LOVE DOLLS AND WEIRD INTERNET STUFF!
