Datura. Art by Chelsea Granger, from Dirt Gems.
Datura stramonium Seer of the Unseen Datura is a queen-of the desert, of the dark, of death, and of mystery. Datura is a moon plant, reflecting light into the shadows, glowing and glimmering in the mist. Datura is the seer of the unseen, the silence in the roaring wind. If you are struggling with the unknown, if you are facing a vast transformation in your life, or if you feel yourself on the edge of a cliff, Datura is your lifeline. Datura emanates strength, power, and courage. As a poison plant, it is one that humans should not take lightly or engage without clear intentions and honesty. Datura states their boundaries. They allow much space and freedom to roam the unknown tides of the underworld. Datura will open your doors of perception, loosen your grip on what you think is reality, and shift the borders of what you know to be true and "normal." Datura expands us. If you are letting go of a familiar reality or some stable structure you have been counting on, the prickly and mysterious Datura will not hold your hand. But they will stand by you, their courage rippling into you, shaking your bones, releasing your dreams into a new world of what is possible. You do not need to be limited by what you know or what you think. Datura encourages the visionary deep inside each of us. This sacred nightshade breaks illusions, allowing for the visions in your dreams to come into waking life. Datura is not playing around. If you are too caught up in the mundane world, if you have forgotten your own magic, if you feel alone and lost in the noise, you can sail in the desert sands of this windy, moonlit queen.

July was a very Death-esque (as in, tarot Death) month for me. I lost one of my pets, I got assigned to a new highschool (a yearly occurence for most of us working in the public school system), some of my hubs’ projects didn’t come to fruition, others did. There wasn’t as much me-time as I anticipated, tbh! But today, I’m going to showcase one of the tools that did make an appearance during the highs and the lows of the month: the Dirt Gems Oracle, a botanical deck by Anne Louise Burdett & Chelsea Granger. These friends were inspired by their love for the earth and all the medicine and healing that it holds, and it is a stunning set of cards and guidebook.
I know the deck already looks awesome by the pictures, and the first time I read about it, it really caught my attention. But there’s no way of expressing how much power and beauty it has when you see it in person and work with it. It has such a strong energy, vibrant but steady. It has its own structure, created by combining the elements, weather systems, alchemy, and energetic signatures of the plant allies. The 65 cards are in fact divided into suits: ablaze (15 cards), afloat (14), adrift (17) and amidst (19). The division is clever and based on the different charactersitics of each of the plants involved, and each suit is associated with an element and a colour palette (most clearly seen in adrift with its b&w).
And it is incredibly fun. It doesn’t mean it can’t get deep (it does!), but honestly working with it is just so enjoyable even if it can look dark and kinda moody. The art style is very unique, with a dreamy feel, and the use of colours (including the restricted palettes) feels magical. It does show the care, experiences and knowledge that went into it. The illustrations make use of the black background to give them space and a lightness that works amazingly well when using these cards with other decks. Most of the elements presented are plants and animals, but there are also other natural elements, charachters, and human-made objects. The cards have a buttery matte finish (they are able to slide, unlike with the rose-petal finish), they are gilded (in either gold or copper) and they come inside a fully illustrated two-piece sturdy box.
The companion guide is juicy, at 165 pages. It has a small intro which includes plant magick, the suits exploration with intro to and associations for each, a how to, example spreads, and a few words on tradition, arriving at page 25 to the cards’ information: a b&w image, the plant name (including its scientific name), an assigned title (eg. The Transmutter for Gumweed), and the message and meaning of each card itself. The illustrations can offer enough of an intuitive hit to work with them alone based on the symbology that goes with the plants and the way in which they are presented and coloured (especially if you’re versed in plant lore), but in my case I find this to be a deck whose guide I find necessary and enriching.
The Dirt Gems Oracle is a deck that links the very tangible reality of plants to their ethereal aspects, as well as guiding us along this bridge to (re)connect with the earth, and hence, with ourselves. Though the four elements are present, I feel it’s mostly a grounding and reassuring deck with lots to teach. It is fun, eye-catching and well-designed, and it vibrates to an energy that should be very basic and present for and in us, but that the modern world can tamper with frequently. Anne Louise Burdett & Chelsea Granger have done an amazing job with this deck, so if you want to know and see more, head over the Dirt Gems site!

The Oracle
Chapter Two
Word Count: 3.8k~
Rating: Teen
Pronouns for Reader: They/Them/Theirs
Warnings: Vivid details of violence, blood and death.
Parings: Prince Sidon/Reader, Link/Reader
You sat at a previously occupied Bokoblin camp, holding a meat skewer over the campfire as the sun slowly began to rise into the sky. Link threw some horns and fangs aside as he tested for the more durable of the bunch. He informed you he had already eaten when you were asleep and wouldn’t need anything else for a while, but you still cooked him an extra skewer and wrapped it in some parchment you had bought at a stable.
While there, Link introduced you to a man named Beedle and went off to hunt for a while. Beedle recognized you immediately and shouted your title of Oracle loud enough for the entire stable to hear, which made you fidgety and embarrassed. You were honestly prepared to buckle down and do readings and visions for every traveler in the stable, but none came. They all seemed content with how they were living and had no need for the future. They were all just impressed with you, genuinely curious as to why you were so far from the castle and how in the hell you handled it all. It was a genuinely fun experience, and you even had some decent conversations that weren’t about your power or status, but soon enough Link came back, and you left.
That was a few hours ago, it was nearing six in the morning now and you were a little over halfway to the domain. With every second that passed you felt yourself growing more tense and anxious, flashes from your vision coming in and out of your mind. Vah Ruta’s cry echoed in your ears as you watched the fire, trying to drown it out. You took a bite from your skewer, losing yourself in the motions of it all. Link came back to sit beside you, a topaz in hand. He wore a bright grin.
“That pale one dropped this, along with a couple other things. Isn’t that weird?” He signed, putting the gem into your lap to use his hands. You nodded, swallowing your breakfast.
“What’s the need for mining when you can hunt those?” Your throat bobbed uncomfortably as you spoke, and you cleared your throat. Link shrugged.
“They’re a little daunting to most travelers, and they’re kind of rare to see nowadays. I wouldn’t want to hunt them down if I didn’t have the strength I do.” He picked at the underneath of his nails, dirt being lodged there after digging through monster parts.
“And the Sword that Seals the Darkness, and the power of the Triforce.” You quipped, nudging him with your elbow. “Seriously, you’re an important person. You rival the queen and I with ease.” Link scoffed, and took a stick from nearby to nudge at the kindle burning in front of you two. You finished up your skewer and folded the parchment, putting it into your bag. When you turned back, Link had whipped out his Slate and was toggling with the screen. You inched closer to peer over his shoulder, watching his finger flick across a map of Hyrule.
“We’re right by the Sheh Rata shrine, so we’ve made good progress.” He pinched and spread his fingers and the map enlarged, showing more detailed routes and roads. “If we go south to this road here, it should take us straight to the domain. We’ll have to leave Walnut at Lanayru Tower, she hates the water.” You looked over to the horse the two of you had been riding. She was peacefully munching at the grass beside the path.
“Alright. How far is the domain from the tower then?” You asked, looking at the map once more. There seemed to be many winding pathways throughout the domain, and you wondered how Link even got through it in the first place.
“If we leave now, we’ll get there by nightfall.” He shut off the Slate and stood, helping you to your feet as well. He kicked some loose dirt over the fire and grabbed his satchel before helping you mount Walnut once more. “There might still be some monsters on the trail, so you’ll need to stay by me. And I mean it!” He added on when you rolled your eyes.
“Oh fine. Don’t let me explore, I don’t mind.” You said hotly, crossing your arms with playful sarcasm.
“The last time you ‘explored’, you near fell in a ditch and surely would have broken something.”
“Hush and take us to the tower.”
———
“It’s so- huge!” You gaped up at Lanayru tower, shielding your eyes from the sun. Link nodded beside you, turning to his horse and patting her snout. She tossed her head and turned around, trotting back down the trail. You turned around in awe, and Link tipped his head back in laughter.
“How is- does she know where she’s going?” You asked incredulously, and the blond returned your look.
“Yes? You thought I would have a horse and not train it to go home? She’s smart!” He planted his hands on his hips and you looked back at Walnut. She was nearly over the hill now, completely confident even without a guide or rider. You let out a soft huh, and crossed your arms over your chest. “I guess so…”
“Let’s get going. We can’t stop for long anywhere if we want to arrive before midnight.” He waved at you to follow him as he started down the road, you jogging to catch up with him. You adjusted your veil and linked arms with him when he offered. You didn’t need the help up the road or around any of the mountains, but the pressure he put on your arm was grounding, keeping you in the moment instead of retreating back into your head. It was easier said than done, especially when every piece of stimulus could be a sign of a premonition or a guide from the Goddess. Zelda also had this issue after her powers were fully realized. Even if they were dwindled now, she was still incredibly powerful in her own right.
The path you took winded and twisted and was slick with mud. It was in this moment you wished you had shoes that weren’t stained white, but you could always wash them off later on. The only monster you had seen were those pesky Octorocks popping out of the water, which Link shot down with ease. You had mentioned this to him, and he shrugged. Maybe there weren’t any dangerous monsters on the hike after all.
You wished you would have kept your mouth shut. You knew better than to temp fate.
The two of you had turned a particularly sharp corner and came face-to-tail with one of the biggest Lizalfols you’d ever seen. It jumped in surprise, and Link grabbed your wrist to tug you back around the corner. He clapped a hand around your mouth to stifle your heavy breathing and held his own. You clutched onto his hand and squeezed your eyes shut. Link looked out of the corner of his eye and, after a long pause, slowly turned his head around the rock.
He was looking the Lizalfols straight in the eye. It let out a low hiss and twirled its boomerang menacingly, clapping its jaw as saliva built in its mouth. It brought its horn to its mouth and blew, a loud ringing surrounding them and alerting the four behind it.
This was not good.
In the split second before the beast in front of him started to move, Link weighed his options. You were pressed against him, and in front of you was a sheer drop into a raging river, so pushing you out of the way to fight the thing was not an option. But, he would rather burn to death than fight it with you sandwiched between clashing blades. He blinked, and saw orange in his peripheral. He still had one shield from Daruk’s protection left that would work before crumbling to nothing but wisps of magic. It wasn’t the most appealing option, but it was the best he had.
He took his hand from your face and pulled you both away from the wall, slamming his fists together as a gong-like ring echoed in his ears. The strange shape of Daruk’s protection surrounded you both, and Daruk’s cry reverberated through the mountains, his spirit coming forth and landing a thudding blow on the Lizalfols’ jaw. It flew backwards and slammed into a rock before going completely limp. Link grabbed your arm and threw you behind him, and you fell onto your backside. You gasped as the cold seeped through your clothes, the stone slick and rough. You looked up at Link to see his sword and shield drawn, already skidding towards their camp. He looked back at you for a moment, and then shouted.
“Get out of here! Follow the path, I’ll catch up with you!” His voice was broken and strained from lack of use. It made it all the more compelling to head his command. Link rarely ever spoke, and you never pushed as to why, but you knew damn well it was serious when he did. You pushed yourself to your feet and tore down the road, chest burning with the cold air you gulped down. The terrain wasn’t ideal for sprinting on, but fear drove you to keep going as fast as you could. Your heartbeat pulsed in your palms and a heat began to build in the bridge of your nose. You gripped the bone and winced as pain shot through you, but pushed it aside. Premonitions always liked to come at the worst of times, and you had absolutely no room to worry about what that could have meant.
Because it's just your luck, Rain started pelting down above you, sticking your clothes and hood to your skin. Why not, you know? Being chased down by monsters twice your size wasn’t enough anyways. You shoved back your vail in hopes of it clearing your vision, but it didn’t prove to do much. You cursed to yourself, wiping the water from your face roughly. You slid to a halt as you came to a steep slope that would be treacherous to climb down even if it wasn’t pouring and you weren’t running for your life. You began gripping the mountain side next to you to slide down, hating your slowed pace. You let go of one hand and lost your grip- curse your shaking hands- and fell face first onto the floor. Your head bounced off the rock and the heat returned to your nose as you felt and heard it crack, the sickening feeling shooting lightning down your spine. You gasped as it became clogged and thick, dark blood oozed and puddled beneath you. So that’s what the feeling was from before. Fantastic, you figured that out.
You stumbled to your feet, head swaying and nearly tipping forward once more. Steadying yourself on a tree you wiped the blood that was now dripping from your nose onto your glove. You cursed again upon seeing the stain, and continued jogging forward. You looked over your shoulder, trying to make out anything in the rain. You couldn’t see Link’s silhouette, or a monsters, but you figured you should head towards the domain just in case he found a different route. You started sprinting again, only to be nearly impaled on a spear. Your hands instinctively grabbed onto the poll just below the blade, trying to push it away from your stomach. You looked up to see a Lizalfols towering over you, unfocused yellow eyes darting every which way before one landing on you. It yanked it’s spear back and jumped a few feet away, shuffling tauntingly. You slowly raised your fists, putting your weight into the balls of your feet. You had been taught close-quarters combat, if you were being kidnapped or held hostage. You had no idea what to do with bare hands against a serrated spear-head.
It lunged for you, and you shook your head. Think, think think! A dull throbbing spread in the middle of your left shin and you ran with it, swinging your leg and kicking the shaft of the spear. It was knocked away from the Lizalfols and carried away by the river. You silently thanked the Goddess for her aid as the monster looked back at its weapon, gurgling in rage. It fell onto its arms and scurried towards you before you could react. It grabbed your ankle and ripped it from underneath you, and you fell for the third time in this endeavor. Its claws raked down your leg and pierced through your pants and skin. You groaned and kicked at it’s face, colliding your boot with its horn. It recoiled and you sat up, about to stand before it kicked you in your side. You coughed as the force spun you around and your legs dangled over the edge of the river. You scrambled at the wet grass and mud in front of you, desperately trying to stay on land as the river water sprayed at your feet. The Lizalfols hunched over you, eyes gleaming. It seemed to enjoy this moment, like it was revenge. You tossed its spear into the water, now it was going to do the same to you. It reared its claw to swipe at you, but an arrow then collided with its shoulder. Fire exploded from the arrow, burning the monster as it toppled back. Another arrow fired and burst into flames, hitting its stomach. It stopped writing on the floor, and merely slid a couple inches away. You breathed a sigh of relief, and tried to hoist yourself over the edge.
The wet ground beneath your fingers began to give way, and a scream crawled out of your throat. You scrambled to grab onto anything that would hold your weight, but it was proving useless. You heard footsteps around you and distinct voices as your vision began to go white, and a pair of hands grabbed your forearms. They hauled you over the edge and onto the road, sinking with you as your knees began to give out. You panted, clutching the fabric of your trousers as a hand gripped your shoulder. They pulled you away from them and you looked into the eyes of a Zora. He had deep blue scales and wore silver armor- a guardsman. He shook you slightly, and you realized he had been speaking.
“Are you alright?! That was quite the skirmish. I’m sorry I couldn’t get here sooner, my post is at the top of the opposing mountain.” His voice shook lightly, bright teal eyes flicking down and up your form. He took in your bleeding nose and calf, and the way you continued to cradle your side. His frown deepened, and he helped you rise slowly to your feet.
“My name is Moven. I’m going to assist you to the domain so we can get you looked at, alright?” He asked, kneeling and pulling you to his back. You recoiled, head throbbing as you spun around.
“No-“ You said thickly, near completely congested. “No- Link is still- still out there-“
“Link? As in the Champion?” Moven interrupted your stuttering, trying to get you to face him once again. His skin was cold, you shivered when it further dampened your clothing. “We saw him climbing through a back passageway when I was still at my post. Etij went to grab him and I came to assist you.” He looked out over the river, to the domain that was now poking through the mountains. “He might already be there, Etij is the fastest swimmer I know besides the prince himself.”
You looked to Moven, and tried to push past the pain in the front of your face and concentrate. You weren’t getting anything negative from the Zora, only the need to help and carry and make safe. You shrugged, taking his hand when he offered it again.
“If you’re sure- I- I need to see him immediately.”
“Of course, your Grace. But, I would feel immensely better if you got some sort of medical aid.” He helped you onto his back and began slowly climbing down into the river.
“Your Grace?” You asked, holding on tightly as the Zora tore through the water. You’ve heard of how well they could swim, what with being so close to fish, but it was even more impressive up close. Moven nodded as well as he could while trying to keep his back and head above water to keep you as dry as possible.
“How else are you supposed to address the Oracle? I apologize if I was being improper in any way.”
“No, no, it’s just-“ You yelped as you went over a rapid. “I wasn’t expecting you to- to know who I am.” Moven chuckled to himself and slowed his pace a little. The rain was beginning to let up, and the domain was more visible now.
“Well, when you’re wearing all white in a dark and wet climate, one could assume.” You hummed in response. That was fair.
“Now, hold your breath for me! We’re going through a tunnel that’s underwater. It will make it much faster, I promise.” You hunched over to flatten yourself out as much as possible and took a deep breath before turning your head to the side and clenching your eyes shut. You felt the water break around you and the temperature dropped significantly. The water rushed by your ears and pulled the trail of your hood behind you like you were flying. You slowly opened your eyes and had to hold a hand over your mouth to keep from opening it in shock. Luminous stones shone brightly in the tunnel that almost looked like a hallway, and when you emerged from the passage you saw an entire city. Underwater. Zora swam quickly by you, and a couple children waved as their parents looked on in shock. There were many towers and windows that presumably led to housing areas along with a shorter building with children around the outside. A school, maybe? How was all this underwater?
Your lungs began to burn, and you tapped Moven’s shoulder rapidly. He took the hint, thankfully, and spun the two of you to propel you from the water. You shot through the surface, taking a huge breath and coughing. Moven swam to a ledge and went up many stairs before you recognized the domain from your books. It was beautiful, the fading daylight refracting off of the structure and illuminating the area without many additional torches or fires. Moven placed you on the ground so you could better catch your breath, and you were grateful for the lack of Zora on the surface. You looked up at Moven, swallowing another breath before you spoke.
“Is all that below the domain also a- a part of it?” You asked, bewildered. The Zora nodded, and gestured around the area.
“This is mainly shops and non-water bed inns, also where discussions can take place in the domain. We can live completely underwater- in fact some prefer it, but those without gills like yourself cannot.” A hand came to your back and he started off, you having to take two steps to match with his one. “Now come, let’s get you looked after.” You shivered lightly and nodded, grateful that you met such a kind Zora. They had that general representation, but you could have easily met a grumpy one that would have left you to freeze after killing that Lizalfols.
You followed Moven into an upper part of the castle where you came across a door with markings you couldn’t read etched into it. He knocked twice before opening the door, and you saw another Zora tending to Link. She shot up when she saw you and Moven, and huffed.
“Another one!? How many injured Hylians are going to be scattered about?” She shook her head and grabbed your wrist and instructed you to sit next to Link. He smiled sheepishly at you and you returned the look. His right forearm was heavily bandaged and he had some sort of gel smeared under a black eye. You leaned your head on his shoulder, sighing. He brought his fist up to his chest and made a circling motion.
“I’m sorry. If I would have acted faster you wouldn’t be hurt.” You shook your head at the apology, looking up at him.
“No, don’t be! You did well. And by that logic, if I would have used my Sight to see the Lizalfols before we rounded the corner, we could have taken a different path. So hush.” You said, and put a hand on his when he brought them up to sign again. “Hush, I mean it. You’re fine.” You promised, and turned your head to the Zora who began to wipe a rag under your nose. You winced as it aggravated the break, and the woman tutted.
“GIve me one moment, alright? I think we have some truffles left over that you can eat so your nose won’t be snapped at the bridge.” She left the room, and you looked at Link with a furrowed brow.
“Truffles?”
“Sometimes when they’re cooked right, they have some sort of healing property. I don’t know either.”
Link was right after all. You were given a cooked truffle, and as soon as it hit your stomach the pain in your nose ceased as you felt it right itself. You tapped it lightly, and felt no remaining pain. “Wow,” You murmured. “That’s incredible!”
“Yes, but like your friend here, it only really helped one injury. And we have scarce supply, so I’d prefer to just wrap your leg and let it heal on its own.” You nodded in understanding, and she went to work wrapping your calf. She looked puzzled at your still damp trousers, then looked back to you.
“I’m sorry if this is an invasive question, but are you the-“
“Orlon!” Another Zora burst through the door, out of breath. The woman in front of you, now called Orlon in your head instead of just ‘medic lady’ jumped, and swore.
“Goddess, what is it now?” She demanded, standing up. “I swear, if it’s another Hylian-“
“No, it’s the prince!” Orlon recoiled, taken aback.
“Prince Sidon is requesting an audience immediately with Link and his companion. Something is amiss with Vah Ruta!”
You and Link share a worried look. After all of this, were you still too late?

Book One: Gold (Prompto x Reader) Chapter I
A/n: This series is inspired by my oneshots, "Mythological Mayhem," (Can be found on my Wattpad) which is also why it will have the same name. You won't be able to choose your eye color in this series since they'll correspond with what gem/mineral each book represents. I hope you all enjoy! Love you all!!! •••••••••••••••••••••
"You can't keep me hidden forever, Prompto."
(Y/n)'s words rang inside Prompto's head as he stared up at the dark ceiling of the caravan. It had been only two days since he, Noctis, Gladio, and Ignis left Insomnia to head to Altissia for the prince's marriage to the Oracle. They were currently resting in Hammerhead, waiting for the Regalia to be repaired so they could head to Galdin Quay.
Lifting his arm, Prompto stared at the bracelet located on his right wrist. In the center stood a lone golden fragment that resembled a gemstone. Even in the darkness, a faint light radiated from it. With his left hand, he traced his index finger over the golden fragment as he continued to listen to (Y/n)'s words on repeat.
He couldn't sleep, wishing to see the girl he had come to cherish so deeply after the many years they'd spent together. The (h/c)-haired guardian has been with him ever since he could recall his earliest memories of his life. He could feel his strong, unwavering bond with (Y/n) and couldn't help but smile.
Prompto, to (Y/n)'s dismay, had kept her a secret their entire lives. No one except for him knew of her existence, not even his adoptive family or Noctis. Although she was residing in the gemstone whenever he left to go anywhere with his friends, he was saddened because she wasn't physically with him. He couldn't bear to be apart from her, not even for a simple stroll.
These past two days have been torture since he didn't wish to reveal the guardian to his companions. It wasn't because he didn't trust them, but he didn't want to be bombarded by tons of questions he wouldn't have the answers to or for (Y/n) to feel like an outcast.
A few minutes passed and Prompto debated whether to leave the caravan for a little while to see (Y/n). Unfortunately, he didn't realize what time it was until he saw Ignis was gone. The advisor was always the first to wake, his ebony coffee being the main reason why he was able to rise at such early hours of the morning and trudge through the day with no signs of exhaustion. He truly desires to have the stamina Ignis possessed after drinking a single cup of coffee.
Prompto lowered his arm with a sigh, nestling his head back into the pillow. He closed his eyes and tried to get a few more minutes of sleep, but his bustling mind kept him from finding peace.
With a groan, he dragged his body out of bed and grabbed his camera. He left the caravan and greeted Ignis before making up an excuse so he could get some alone time with (Y/n) without him or the others seeing her. He told the tactician how he wanted to take a few pictures of the rising sun and quickly excused himself to find a secluded location.
The moment Ignis turned his back, Prompto made a mad dash toward the garage. He headed around the side and took cover behind the garage. Looking around, the blonde made sure the coast was clear before summoning (Y/n). He whispered her name, the gold gemstone located on his bracelet pulsating with a warm glow.
Once the gemstone's radiance disappeared, a girl with (h/c) locks and gold-slitted eyes appeared in front of him. She combed a few stray locks out of her face and behind her ear with a sigh. "You know this would be easier if the others knew about me, Prom. I could also help you guys fight. And that gemstone is rather uncomfortable..."
"The guys would freak out if they saw your, y'know...real form!" Prompto argued. "I mean, I haven't even seen it yet! I've only read about the possibilities..."
(Y/n) sighed, crossing her arms. "If you're afraid of them attacking me, explain to them what I am! I'm sure they know about spirits. All humans should! We're not fictional characters in a fairytale. There's actual texts that explain who and what we are. If we continue to hide this from them, our time apart will only grow until after we return to Insomnia." She turned her back to him and stared up at the vast, colorful sky. The sun was rising and the sky was being painted with an array of shades of orange, red, and yellow. "After all the years we've spent together, I guess you've finally grown tired of me. I'm not surprised, really. To be honest, I'm not the easiest person to live with and I sometimes can be really annoying. I mean, you've-"
Two arms wrapped around her body, silencing her. She tensed up slightly when feeling her back flush against his body. A small gasp slipped from her lips when she felt Prompto nuzzle his face into the crook of her neck. His warm breath grazed her skin, causing her body to shudder. His blonde locks tickled the side of her face as his arms tightened around her. In her left ear, she heard him whisper, "I'm not tired of you, (Y/n). I could never get tired of you. You've been with me since the beginning and...and I can't believe you haven't left yet. I never thought someone like you would still wanna hang around a loser like me even now..."
(Y/n) pried his arms off her and turned around to face him. Cupping his cheeks in her palms, she stared into his cerulean eyes. "Even if I wasn't your guardian, I know we were destined to find one another. If I was human, maybe we could...never mind."
"Tell me," Prompto begged, gazing into her glistening golden eyes.
She shook her head with another sigh. "Sorry, it's nothing. I'm letting my imagination run wild again."
All of a sudden, she heard footsteps and acted quickly. Her body vanished, returning to the gemstone in Prompto's bracelet. The blonde also heard the footsteps and promptly picked up his camera, acting like he was taking pictures of the surrounding area.
Ignis walked around the corner, his emerald eyes analyzing the photographer. "Is everything all right, Prompto?"
"Uh, y-yeah!" The marksman's voice cracked, afraid his friend had overheard his conversation with (Y/n). "Just takin' some pics of the scenery!"
The strategist's eyes ventured over to the camera in the younger boy's grasp. "You are mindful of the lens cap, are you not?"
Prompto looked down at his camera and chuckled nervously as he removed the lens cap. "I-I knew it was on..."
"Of course," Ignis replied. The advisor detected the blonde's strange behavior and was able to see through his lie with ease. However, he simply spun on his heels and left his companion without questioning him.
The shutterbug sighed in relief when Ignis left. "That was too close..."
"I'll say," (Y/n) said as she reappeared beside him. "You're a terrible liar. Always have been."
"H-Hey, I tried my best."
"I know, but..." The golden-eyed girl looked around at the desert-like landscape. "You realize this isn't a scenic view, right? It's nothing but dirt, rocks, and a few plants scattered about. I'm pretty sure I saw a tumbleweed earlier, too."
"As an avid photographer, it's my job to capture everything," Prompto replied. "Even the ugly parts."
(Y/n) glanced at the boy from the corner of her eye. "A photographer captures the beauty in everything. Even the ugliest parts of this world have beauty hidden somewhere. I'm sure you can turn this desolate landscape into something beautiful. Just make sure you get some breakfast before becoming lost in your photography. Your stomach's growling."
Prompto, having been distracted, finally felt and heard his stomach grumble. A rosy hue dusted across his face, embarrassed at how obnoxious his stomach sounded. "I'll grab a bite at Takka's. What about you?"
"What about me?" (Y/n) replied with her own question.
"You haven't eaten since we left the city. You should come with me! If the guys see us, we can just pretend we're strangers who decided to share a meal together."
She smiled reassuringly at him. "I'll be fine, Prom. I can go a couple more days without eating." She bumped her hip against his, nudging him forward. "Now go get something to eat."
Prompto knew how stubborn the girl was. He didn't stand a chance against her and hung his head with a sigh. "Okay..."
<-----------<<<<<
A couple days later, the royal retinue arrived at Longwythe Rest Area after the Regalia was repaired. They delivered a package as per requested by Cindy and received a visit from Umbra. Seeing as the day was turning to night, the boys headed over to the Crow's Nest Diner to enjoy a quick dinner before checking in at the motel across the street.
Around ten o'clock, Prompto realized the others were all asleep and quietly made his way out of the room. With the spare gil he received from Ignis after their successful hunt yesterday, he headed back over to the Crow's Nest and stood outside the entrance. He summoned (Y/n), who appeared in front of him in mere seconds.
Turning her head, the spirit hummed in curiosity as she peered over her shoulder at the small diner. "The Crow's Nest? What're we doing here?"
"You're hungry, right?" Prompto asked. "It's been four days since you've ate anything so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for you to get a bite to eat. With the guys asleep, it'll also give us some alone time."
"All right, but it's getting late. As much as I would love chatting with you for hours upon end, you'll need to get some sleep. Once I'm done eating, you're heading straight to bed."
"Deal."
Prompto and (Y/n) entered the diner, taking a seat at one of the booths. The man behind the counter walked over and took their order. The blonde asked for a simple glass of water while the girl ordered the salmon with a soda. As they waited for their order, the two chatted nonstop.
A few minutes ticked by and their order arrived. (Y/n) enjoyed every bite of her salmon, listening to Prompto as he shared what she had missed during her time slumbering in the gemstone. She clung to every word even after finishing her meal.
By the time midnight rolled around, the (h/c)-haired girl's eyes widen in shock. "I lost track of time!" She scurried out of the booth after Prompto paid. "You need to get some sleep. We'll be heading to Galdin Quay tomorrow and I wouldn't want to be the reason why you lost sleep."
"I know," Prompto sighed dejectedly. "I just...really wanted to spend some time with you."
She smiled at him. "Prom, we've been by each other's side for a very long time. Besides, I'm not going anywhere. Now go back to bed so you have enough energy for tomorrow. I'm really excited for Galdin Quay! I've always wanted to visit the ocean. I'd love to relax on the beach."
"Me too!" Prompto chanted excitedly. "I can't wait to take so many pictures!"
"All the more reason you should get some rest," she remarks.
He nodded. "Yeah. 'Night, (Y/n)."
Her smile blossomed. "Goodnight, Prom." Her body vanished, returning to the golden gemstone.
Prompto rushes back to the room and crawls into bed. He closed his eyes, delving into the world of dreams.
Almost two hours later, Prompto was startled awake by a nightmare. A cold sweat consumed his body as he flew up into a sitting position. Trailing his hand across his forehead, he wiped off the small sweat droplets before climbing out of bed and slipping his boots on. Leaving the room, he headed up to the roof to clear his head.
On the rooftop, Prompto sat down and let the cool breeze dry his body, calm his racing heart, and clear his head. He stared across the street, noticing the Crow's Nest was still open. He watched as a couple of hunters pulled into Longwythe Rest Area in a truck and parked just outside the diner. Once they entered the eatery, the blonde looked away with a heavy sigh. With his attention no longer focused on anything, the images from the nightmare filled his mind.
"Bad dream?"
Prompto turned his head and saw (Y/n) standing a few feet away. "Yeah," he replied halfheartedly.
"What was it about?" She pried.
"Noct, Gladio, Iggy, and I were facing off against a horde of daemons. I kept getting in the way and then...they abandoned me." The boy stared down at his hands as he clasped them tightly together. "Am I...worthless?"
(Y/n) clutched her hands behind her back as she focused her attention on the daemons prowling the darkness just beyond the rest area. "You're not worthless, Prom. Everyone is unique in different ways. You may not possess the strength of your friends, but you have your own special abilities that make up for their weaknesses." She hopped on to the ledge of the roof, walking down the narrow strip of concrete. "A team is like a puzzle. If one piece is missing, it's incomplete."
"H-Hey, be careful," Prompto muttered nervously as he felt his anxiety skyrocket just by watching her walk along the edge of the roof.
The guardian continued walking until she reached the end of the ledge. She stared down at the asphalt below. "You may think you're worthless, but in reality you aren't. You might not see it, but the others and I do. You've convinced yourself you are worthless and that's why you dream of such horrific scenarios." Turning around, she stared into his cerulean eyes with her golden ones. "No one is perfect. We all have our flaws. They may appear perfect in your eyes, but that's because your combined strength is able to hide them."
"But you're perfect," Prompto unconsciously said.
She smirked at him. "If I'm perfect, so are you. After all, I am a fragment of your soul."
The blonde's eyes widen at her words. Even though he's known the girl all his life, not once has he heard the real story about guardians. "What do you mean, (Y/n)?"
Hopping off the ledge, the (h/c)-haired girl walked over and sat beside him. She hung her legs off the roof, swinging them back and forth. "The fairytales about guardians are false. We're not almighty beings sent from the heavens by the Astrals to watch over the people of Eos. Guardians are spiritual beings manifested from a fragment of a person's soul. Our duty as a guardian is to protect the very soul that created us. Not everyone possesses the power to forge a guardian, though. Very few humans do, and you're one of them, Prompto. When a human does shape a guardian, we take the form of their choice. My appearance is a result of your cognition."
"So, the reason you look like this is...?"
"I've taken the form of your deepest desire. I must say," (Y/n) examined her appearance and grinned. "I look pretty good. At least you didn't make me look like a chocobo. I don't know what I'd do if I was a yellow bird."
Prompto's cheeks ignited a deep crimson and he immediately looked everywhere but at her. He couldn't remember a single time when his imagination created a strong, intelligent, beautiful person. He cleared his throat, eyes still darting around to avoid her gaze. "U-Um..." The boy's mind was blank as he tried to think of a response, but not even a single word came to mind.
(Y/n) realized this and smiled. "I know this is the first time we've really talked about spirits, but I hope I was able to explain it clearly. If not, we can always search for actual text. There are many documented existences of spirits and books that have been published."
Prompto found his voice and said, "I never really asked because, well...I kinda forgot you were a guardian."
"You treat me like a normal person," she stated. "Which I'm grateful for, even though I'm not human."
"You look like a normal girl to me," he answered honestly, finally being able to look at her.
"Yeah, well, your cognition thought of a normal girl."
"Does that mean if my deepest desire was a chocobo, you really would've been one?" He asked, eyes gleaming with excitement.
"No, I was just messing with you. A guardian's human form is based on their master's deepest desire, but it has to take the form of a human. All spirits have a human form and a true form. Alas, our master doesn't determine our true form."
"Y'know, I've never seen your true form," Prompto commented. "Is it scary?"
"Um, well..." (Y/n)'s voice trailed off. She watched the two hunters from earlier depart the Crow's Nest and drive away in their truck. "I...want to say no, but it might frighten you. But trust me, Prom, I would never hurt you or the others."
"I know," he smiled gently. "Now I'm really curious what your true form is! Is it a chocobo?"
The spirit giggled, nudging her elbow into his side. "Don't get too excited. And no, it's not. Guess you'll just have to wait."
The blonde released a dramatic groan as he hung his head. "Aw, man...!"

Witchcraft for Beginners: Lesson 2
There are so many different paths and different practices you can take as a witch. When starting off, don’t stress about the labels too much. Take a moment to read through some of the different potential paths you could take and see which ones sound the most interesting to you!
Air Witch: Witches who work with the element of air, and the energies thereof. They may work with things such as feathers, movement, incense, breath, and other air-based magick.
Ancestral Witch: Witches who focus their craft on connecting to and working with one's ancestors.
Animal/Creature Witch: Witches that work with animals or creatures. They may use their energies within the craft for attunement, aid, or protection. Considered a branch of the green witch path, these witches may work with either spiritual or physical forms of animals/creatures.
Artistic Witch: A witch who is artistically inclined within their craft. They typically have a strong desire to create and work with colours. Art witches tend to draw, paint, sculpt, act, dance, sing, (etc.) within their practice.
Astro/Space Witch: Considered a branch of the cosmic witch path. An Astro/ space witch may be adept at cosmic magick as well as astral travel, astrology and science-based magick.
Atheist Witch: Simply witches who do not believe in any form of deity. Also called Secular Witch.
Blood Witch: Witches who practice blood magick, and use the energy and power of blood within their practice. Considered a branch of the chaos witch path.
Bone Witch: Witches who use bones in their practice, and can typically tap into the energy of or communicate with the spirits who used to own the bones. This may allow their assistance to the witch within their practice. Could be considered a form of animal or ancestral magick. May also incorporate components of death magick and/or necromancy practices.
Ceremonial Witch: Witches who practice a great deal of ceremonial magick in their practice. They may focus on rituals and formal practices of casting of magick as well.
Chaos Witch/Chaote: (difficult to define) Some may also call this ‘result-based’ or ‘success’ magick. A chaos witch usually focuses on the attainment of specific results, typically emphasizing will and intention in their practice. They tend to advocate and pioneer diverse approaches to magick. Some feel that through experimentation, it does not matter what one believes so long as their tools or system of magick were implemented effectively. Therefore, belief may be considered a tool in and of itself. On the same note, they tend to feel intentions/will are key above all else, and the tools will not make or break the practice. They may have a more scientific or experimental approach in their practice.
Closeted Witch/Subtle Witch: Witches who are not open about their practice. They tend to practice in secrecy, for a variety of reasons. These witches are not quite ready, or may simply not wish to share their practice with the general public or friends/family.
Colour Witch/Color Witch: Considered a branch of the art witch path. These are witches who specifically use and revolve their practice around the metaphysical properties of colours within their magick.

Coven Witch/Circle Witch: Witches who practice within a group of witches. They typically practise and learn with others in their group.
Crystal Witch: Witches who primarily use crystals, stones, gems, or rocks in their practice. Considered a branch of the green witch path, they will practice such things as crystal meditation, protection, and crystal grids, among many other things. They tend to have in-depth knowledge of different crystals/stones/ (etc.) and are able to identify them based on their properties.
Death Witch: Witches who practice death magick. These practitioners typically work with and honour the dead, along with the power of death itself. Death witches tend to advocate death as a new beginning, and an essential part of the life cycle. They may or may not incorporate necromancy in their practice (divination through the dead). They may also integrate ancestral and/or bone magick in their craft as well.

Many of them will consider dragons to be higher beings, or even deities themselves, and work with them as such.

They may cast magick, work with deities, access other realities, among numerous other things in their dreams. Dream witches may also be known as dream walkers. They typically will end up knowing about all of them and will choose to incorporate whatever suits them within their craft. They may tend to specialize in a handful of paths which fit them best.

Day 4 - Monsters
Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V Rare Pair Week Day 4: CandyAppleshipping
For as long as there has been a town, there has been a castle on the hill. For as long as there had been people in the town, there had been monsters in the castle. The distance is not overly long but the lives of the people in the town and the lives of the monsters in the castle did not bisect. Except on special occasions.
Tonight, the spring solstice, was the exception.
Once a generation, so about every thirty years, the monsters would put in a request. They would require one young person, the gender of which often irrelevant, to be sent to the castle by divine will. Divine will, of course, representing an intuitive council of humans of varying ages who were fortune tellers and others of a similar practice.
Mieru was the youngest in the human clan of diviners but she was often the keenest and the brightest. Her elders were very proud of her. So, her grandparents had been more than delighted to announce that this generation’s duty of oracle for the monsters in the castle would be passed to their darling granddaughter.
It was an honour and privilege. After all, this wasa duty that only came once every thirty years and would usually be reserved for someone far older than Mieru but, she was a prodigy. It felt good to be one.
As dusk drew in and the last of the winter winds blew, the sun shone and Mieru was dressed by her cousins in the appropriate garb. She donned a large dress and a veil. Someone lit incense and someone else scattered rose petals throughout their little manor in the town.
Mieru was led to the room which had the most spiritual energy: the attic. She sat herself down and inhaled deeply. The lavender smoke swirled around her and she brandished her favourite crystal ball: an object which gleamed and was crafted of a blue gem, shaped like an apple.
Around her, her choir of cousins sang. Her parents watched expectantly and Mieru closed her eyes. She took a breath and stilled herself. She focused on her natural surroundings and ignored all human life. This was a prestigious duty and she needed her inner world silent even though the outer world was attempting to amplify all the spiritual energy already present.
Phosphenes danced before her eyes. The smell of lavender was dizzying. She saw colours and stars then she began to see a hazy vision. The more she concentrated, the more the image sharpened.
It was like watching a picture book: colourful stills to represent different things. She saw the castle on the hill. She saw the magnificent, rotting door open boisterously. She saw a flurry of rice and petals. Candles lit up on the inside of the castle and a red carpet unfurled. It rolled down the hill: through the grass, through flowers and through dirt.
Then, at the end of the ream of carpet where the golden tassels flailed, she saw a pair of glass shoes and a small woman, a bride, walked forward. Petals from her bouquet fell off and entangled with her dress: a brilliant shining walk.
Mieru watched as the bride strut down the carpet. The vision was so real, it felt as though that snow-white dress of satin was on Mieru’s hips and it was as if the glass shoes were on her own feet. She walked with the bride.
It was a long journey, but not a strenuous one. The bride was taking it all in stride. Soon, she entered the castle and came to the other end of the ream. The castle’s lobby was decorated like a chapel with gleaming walls and glittering, but violent, stained glass windows.
The bride stood before her groom. Her monstrous groom.
Curiously, they were about the same height. The groom looked unto his bride and Mieru got a good look at his face. He was furred with a protruding snout. Snaggle tooth fangs stood out of his mouth and he licked his lips. He was dressed akin to a soldier, but his clothes were inaccurate, toy-like. His wolfish tail wagged.
He turned to his bride and gently lifted up her heavy veil. Mieru’s heart thudded in her chest. Her palms sweated. The vision broke.
Mieru clasped her breast and stared, horrified, into her crystal ball. She knew who the bride was. She knew who the monsters were demanding for this generation’s sacrifice.
“Daughter, are you okay?” her mother asked with a sharp, scared inflection.
“They want…”
“They want who, dearest?” her father asked.
“They want me.” Mieru gasped. “I’m the sacrifice. I-I’m going to be that creature’s BRIDE!”
“As it has been foreseen, as it shall be.” her grandmother said.
There could be no arguing. The future was a stony thing, after all.
So, at midnight, Mieru was shipped out by carriage. Outside her manor, headless horsemen waited for her. So, they had chosen her for truth after all. And she was whisked away.
The journey took until dawn. Mieru sat in silence with some luggage. She held her apple in her hands. She was nervous. She’d never thought about marriage before. She had been waiting for her fated lover. She supposed though, someone picked by prophecy, would make a fated lover, but would he be perfect for her?
After all, he was a monster.
Just as the sun’s morning rays first began to break the darkness, the carriage stopped. Mieru peered out the window. She held onto the curtains and looked out. The castle was exactly like she had seen in her vision. Tall, intimidating, a dark fortress.
On the other side of the carriage, one of the headless horsemen knocked.
“My lady.” he said, his voice emanating from a nearly pin-pointed origin, but not quite.
“Coming.” Mieru replied.
She stowed away her crystal ball and grabbed her luggage. The door opened for her and she carefully disembarked. A horse whinnied, and it was colder than Mieru imagined. She shivered.
“My lord is here.” the horseman said.
Mieru tentatively looked unto the right and she saw the creature from her vision. He was small. Perhaps more bear-like in human, than wolf-like. He grinned. Mieru stared into his jaws; studying the curve of his fangs. Her stomach twisted, and she felt sick.
“I’ve never been married before,” he began impishly, “but you’re really cute. Let’s get along. My name is Sora.”
A moment before, Mieru had been nauseous. However, now, she could sense no ill intent from this monstrous groom to be of hers. Instead, she was relieved by his playfulness. She didn’t think that was the face of someone who intended to eat her.

And whose writing will being you to your knees. Love you Kat ♥♥♥♥
jfasjfalkfjl there is some smut here but like its mostly angst? i cant set up good smangst in a drabble format someone teach omg I LOVE YOU!
Prompt: 101: You don’t hate me, quit lying to yourself. Pairing: Jaebum x Reader (oc; female)Summary: After your breakup with Jaebum, you run into him at a bar and realize that old habits die hard. Genre: angst; some light smutRating: RWarnings: explicit language; mentions of breathplay; dirty talk; sexual situationsWord Count: 1,725
The day he left was the day, for you, the world died. Or perhaps, it did not die rather, it simply withered. Time passing around you made you understand that you were aging, becoming consumed by the weight of existence, but your mind found it terribly difficult to care about such a thing when your world was already filled with ghosts. In the kitchen, he lingered, smiling wide and laughing as he made pancakes - badly, and burning them into malformed shapes. In the shower, you could smell him, feel his fingers as they moved through your hair and his skin as he pressed his chest against your back.
Your bed, you thought, was the worst graveyard of all. Beneath the slip of the pillowcases, the down feathers refused to release the indent of his head, anxiously awaiting his return and stubborn in their desire to hold his body close. Wide awake and too aware of your loneliness, the frazzled edges of your heart refused to truly let you recline into the mattress, the springs your dirt and the blankets your coffin. Still, though, you could feel him, feel the even rise of his chest lift the blankets like a phantom limb.
For days afterward, you slept on the couch, told yourself to stop drinking, told yourself to switch to coffee. One night, you left a mason jar full of cold water on the fire escape, told yourself the moon would saturate the molecules and turn you into something cosmic, something transcendent - really, all you were trying to do was leave your corporal form behind. Even when he still wanted to touch you, even when he was here and you thought maybe things were going to be fine, your body had already started to feel like a cage.
It’s these things, you think, that push you out of the mausoleum that is your apartment and into the bar. With heavy footsteps you walk, the pattern strange and uneven as though walking is a task you will have to relearn simply because his hand is not there to hold yours, to a table in the far corner. It’s dim here, dark enough to forget yourself and dark enough to pretend that you don’t mind.
Without the harsh light of a brightly lit, forcibly happy place, you think you can almost move on, think that you can become the person you always wanted to be - the person you thought you were. After one drink, you become an oracle; after two, you become a priest, thanking God and thanking yourself for being strong enough to leave, to remake yourself in public even though you cannot even see yourself. Truthfully, it does not matter if you have reassembled all your parts in all the wrong places. All that matters is that the needle did not hurt.
The anesthetic of the third drink is fading when he walks in, alone and boyish in the way he stands, as if this kind of pain were a casual thing. At first, he does not see you, and you take this opportunity to take him in.
Even at this distance, the scar on his forehead is the first thing you see - or, perhaps, you see it simply because you know it is there. Your lips have kissed that scar, in the harsh light of the sun, in darkness, even in the rain. Your mouth knows its curvature, and, because of this, you think your endearment towards it is deadly. Still, though, you do not mind. Condensation builds on the glass of your drink was you watch him, sweating the same way your skin perspires, melting at the sight of him. Typical, really.
At first you see the scar but it’s the angle of his lips, the sharp turn of his cupid’s bow that makes your gaze linger, turns your gaze from lazy remembrance to the penetration of desire. Your thumbs have felt those lips, tugged at their plumpness and pulled at them with your teeth - you have come against that mouth, hard and long, and with his name on your lips as your hand fisted in his thick hair.
It’s this memory that makes your lips part and your breath halt. It’s during this memory that he decides to turn your way. And, even in the dark, his eyes still find you. Even in the dark, even in all your wrong shapes, you still want him.
When his hands are pressed flat against your back, hot and fingers pressing bruises in the muscles, you start to question how you got here. Somehow, you made it to his car, to the driver’s seat with your knees on either side of his hips and his seat reclined all the way back. The position is awkward, uncomfortable, fitting for how you are now, but you don’t really have it in you to mind. Against your thigh, you can feel the thick hardness of his cock pressing against you as he moves. This is what grounds you to the moment, this and the wetness that pools in your underwear at his touch.
The position is awkward but his mouth against yours is not. His lips, even after all this time, are skilled and remember yours, remember how to fit with yours, as though they are still a puzzle piece made just for you. He’s made it clear they are no longer yours to kiss, but tonight he does not seem to care nor does he want to stop you. Tonight, he kisses you as a means of possession, as though he means to take hold of you and break you apart for the sole purpose of moving inside. Tonight, if he tells you he loves you, you will believe him, even though you know he does not. Not anymore.
In your mouth, his tongue is needy. His hands glide down your back, nails scratching hard enough to leave marks - you welcome them. They slide past the waistband of your jeans, burying beneath the cloth and cupping your ass to push you down onto his covered cock. Both of you break apart to gasp at the sensation, pulling back enough to look at each other - really look and see into one another’s eyes.
‘Jae -’ you begin, but he cuts you off.
‘We were always good at this, weren’t we?’
For a moment, you’re distracted by the redness of his lips and the harsh line of his brow. Stern, is how you always said he looked. At this moment, he looks statuesque, like something made of marble, and your soul starts to ache at the knowledge of why you ended to begin with.
‘Sex isn’t the same as feeling,’ you breathe, resting your forehead against his as you struggle to slow your heart rate. It would be best, you think, if you could remove your hands from his hair. You hesitate, though, because he always did look best with your fingers messing up his style.
‘I feel you right now,’ he says, thrusting up against you as if to prove his point. ‘Why can’t that be enough?’
With a moan, you nestle your face into his neck and suck at his pulse. Beneath your lips he is vital, alive, absolutely flourishing in his desire for you, but this was the only time you ever felt connected, felt like he cared. This was the only time he ever felt like something living, like something yours, and you squeeze your eyes shut as you try to speak.
‘Because it doesn’t last.’
Eventually, his pulse will slow. Eventually, things will return to how they used to be. Whatever this is, you don’t think you could survive it twice.
‘The feel of your cunt around my cock always lasts.’ Once more his fingers press into your ass, and you know that if he could, he would spank you hard enough to leave a mark.
‘Jaebum,’ you hiss, biting your lip as you pull away from his neck.
He pulls one hand away from your ass to rest it against your throat, tilting your head back to expose the length of your neck to him. Fear should come into play here, you know that it always should, but even when he presses against you, even when your breath becomes limited, you only ever feel a cascading swell of adoration wash over you. If anyone could control your breath, you think, it should only ever be Jaebum.
‘You always so malleable,’ he says, and you think the word does not fit, think it might be wrong as first. But then, for him, you always did bend to fit his will.
And, because you always bend, you still let him into your house - the house you once shared.
With his body beneath the sheets, the bed comes alive once more. It creaks as it smacks into the wall, as the springs bounce beneath his thrusts. He sweats against you and fucks into you like he’s never had you before, like it’s your wedding night and a way to say goodbye all at once. He fucks you into ash, fucks you into dust. Jaebum fucks you like he’s stopping time itself and erasing you altogether. His cock is buried deep inside you when you come, clutching at his shoulders and eyes wide open, yet seeing nothing.
From you lips, his name spills - loud and broken and splintered, and he swallows it whole, much the same way he swallows your heart.
Your hands shake in the morning after he leaves, your fingerprints tainted and stained with the feel of him, and forced to tap out a text to him against the cold glass screen. As if this feeling would be consolation, as if this feeling could match the burn of his skin.

Magnolia. Art by Chelsea Granger, from Dirt Gems.
Magnolia spp. Time Traveler Magnolia says, Get ready. It is coming. Change will happen whether you are ready or not. Magnolia asks us not to fight change or resist where our life leads us, but to let things become what they must as we build our lives with integrity. Slow down and trust. Magnolia reminds us, You are as old as anything on Earth. You have everything you need. When you feel as though you have tried to change and things always cycle back around or you wonder how you will ever work through something, Magnolia says, Let time flow through you. Everything you have lost is still all around you, and everything you have once been will be again. And Magnolia knows because they are 95 million years old. As they hold us in our entirety, through our history, our whole selves, and the nonlinearity of time and space, Magnolia has seen it all. With their velvety voice, Magnolia says, Persevere. With their guidance, you can endure the passage of time with voluptuous beauty. Let your swollen, teary eyes radiate your tenderness, your humanity. Let yourself be beautiful in all your states. Waxy, creamy, and tough, Magnolia asks us to believe in the fullness of time, to not waste our days worrying or giving in to expectations and disappointment. If you feel your limitations around you, Magnolia asks you to grow beyond yourself. We are often attracted to or called by Magnolia when there is a natural process unfolding in our lives that we are fighting or resisting. Magnolia will remind you that time and space have no hold on you.

Throne of Night Theory Builds Part 24: The Deep Dragon Queen of Book 3
Tonight’s entry is definitely a different one. Namely, I was going to make this dead last. Literally as absolutely last as possible. Mostly because I don’t have a proper picture for this one. Just a stock photo, and a picture that technically goes along with it.
But, beggars can’t be choosers, and this entry is entirely based around opportunity knocking/circumstances being what they are. I’ll get into that though in the next half.
As always, for space reasons, I’ll be cropping the encounter build.
All images shared here were done by the forever fantastic and amazingly talented Michael D. Clarke, aka SpiralMagus
Because it got brought up, I do not have a Patreon or a Kickstarter, but I do have a Ko-Fi page (linked) for those who are looking to support me. No pressure though. The economy isn’t the greatest at the moment, so some belts are being tightened more than usual.
Finally, before get to it, I hope everyone’s staying safe right now.
So tonight I came across old, old notes that gave a synopsis of Book 3, and it’s actually different/more detailed than the last update I’d read that gave you the rundown of Books 3-6. This is information I absolutely needed to know back when I did the undead dwarf king. Needless to say that this update is actually completely different than what I had originally intended because I had wanted my readers to know that the Golem Wielder entry had been given a massive update. Had to completely remove a bunch of feats in exchange of others, and revise the magic items, land speed, AC, etc. At least it wasn’t a complete re-write, which was what I was originally afraid I was going to have to do.
But that’s really about it. A dwarf doesn’t want to die, it uses dark pacts and forbidden magic, and it meets up with a deep dragon that can help with all of that. On top of that, this same dragon has the ability to corrupt and help give people their grandest desires. There is a lot to unpack here.
I’m now going to explain how I came up with this specific build. 1) It had to be a dragon. Namely, a deep dragon. Thankfully there’s a template for that. 2) It specifically had to be dragon that could shape change. Okay. Less options, but maybe there’s a way around it. 3) It has to be able to corrupt and grant the desires of others. Hmm. Again, difficult, but not impossible. Thankfully there’s a template for that too. 4) This dragon may or not be the reason why the “dark fire/black fire” existed and wiped out so many of the dwarves, causing ghosts to come up their graves and curse the mountain to be inescapable. Hellfire likely works for this one. Again, a lot to unpack. I will say that my build is likely very wrong as Book 3 of Throne of Night was supposed to come out in 2015, and Pathfinder Bestiary 6 came out in 2017. That said, this works way better than I had hoped. And with only adding a single hit die, it’s most definitely a CR 15 encounter. So glad I didn’t have to make it Young and add 2 class levels. I was so afraid I’d have to.
Not gonna lie. After talking to a lot of different users on the Kickstarter comments and the Paizo forums, the conclusion a few of us came to was the black flame was a result of either the prestige class that’s absolutely not OGL or radiation. If that was the case, I was leaning towards a solar dragon, but that doesn’t get channel radiation until way, way later, and there’s no way something that powerful would be in Book 3. Even if you added the Young template numerous times, that wouldn’t help, and would just get stupid. So this is where we stand.
Of course the real question is “how does an undead have progeny?” Well, when wishes are involved, you make sure to word it in just the right way. There were spells and items back in D&D 3.5e that helped with such things. There’s no reason a work-around couldn’t be in here too. I mean, dhampirs exist and it’s not all because a pregnant woman was bitten.
Also, anyone wondering, the shape change ability would default to looking like a female dwarf. When things go down, she’ll revert to her true form. And it’s preferable to not have her fight alongside her undead partner and the cannon golem. That might end up being an epic encounter for a 13th level party. Adding it all up together, it’s not quite an EL 18 encounter, but it’s definitely more than EL 17. The graveknight’s tactics are for it being paired with the cannon golem, but there’s no reason it can’t fight them separately, and the graveknight fight alongside his dragon queen.
As for the progeny and them having dark fire access too, Gary already released aid regarding that. “Way of the Wicked” Book 6 has the hellfire spell. It’s available to the magus, sorcerer/wizard, summoner, and witch. That’s still enough for the half-dragon children who are likely eldritch scion draconic bloodline and sorcerer draconic bloodline. Depending on the campaign, access to certain feats, wishes, etc, there might be other ways to get that or other variants of the spell. There’s definitely a 3rd party hellfire weapon property. Lots of possible options available.
And just before we get to it, the pronunciation for her name is, sin-dra-xy-ohs. Also, the dragon art is directly from Paizo’s Bestiary 6. This is what it looks like normally, but picture it without wings. Deep dragons lose their ability to fly and have a burrow speed instead.

When the duration ends, the creature suffers a –4 profane penalty to the same ability score for the next 24 hours. Another application not only negates the penalty, but also restores the full bonus. Deep Gaze (Su) Buried suggestion (see below) 30 ft., Will negates (special). As suggestion, except the target need not understand the deep dragon creature and the effect is permanent until discharged. The dragon telepathically implants the suggestion into the subject. The suggestion planted must not take place immediately. When it occurs it must be based on an event or an amount of time going by. At least three days must pass before the suggestion compels the subject. During the period while the suggestion is buried, neither divination spells nor Sense Motive will reveal that the subject is under the effect of an enchantment. The subject does not attempt his saving throw until the triggering event occurs. The death of the dragon does not end this effect. Dragon Senses (Ex) Dragons have darkvision 120 ft. and blindsense 60 ft. They see four times as well as a human in dim light and twice as well in normal light. Earth Glide (Su) A young or older deep true dragon creature glides through stone, dirt, or any sort of earth except metal as easily as a fish swims through water. Its burrowing leaves behind no tunnel or hole, nor does it create any ripple or other signs of its presence. Move earth cast on an area containing an earth gliding deep dragon creature flings the dragon back 30 ft., stunning the creature for 1 round unless it succeeds on a DC 15 Fortitude save. False Mind (Su) This ability offers the corruptor the benefits of a mind blank spell. When an attempt is made to detect his alignment or read his thoughts, the corruptor can cause the magic to reveal any alignment or thoughts the corruptor creature chooses, even if he is not initially aware of the attempt. Fiery Acidic Blood (Su) Any creature that damages a deep dragon with a piercing or slashing melee weapon must make a Reflex save or be subject to the damage equal to Deep dragon’s spittle (see below) as it is sprayed with blood. Melee weapons with reach don’t endanger their users in this way. Fiery Acidic Spittle (Su) All deep dragon creatures have a thick, gooey spittle that is hot enough and acidic enough to sear and corrode both flesh and rock. Normally, as they tunnel through the earth they secret this fluid to soften stone. In battle, the deep dragon adds this additional amount of damage to their natural attacks. Half the damage is acid the other half fire. Hellfire (Su) Half of the damage from hellfire is fire damage, and half is unholy energy that bypasses fire resistance and immunity. Hellproof (Ex) The infernal dragon is immune to fire, hellfire, and mind-affecting effects. Imbue with Ability (Su) Once per day as a standard action the corruptor creature can grant a creature it touches one of its spells, spell-like abilities, extraordinary abilities or even one of its supernatural abilities in a manner similar to imbue with spell ability (no save). It loses access to that ability during this time; it can dismiss this benefit as a free action regaining the use of one or more of its abilities. Inscrutable (Ex) An infernal dragon gains a bonus on saves against divination spells and effects equal to its age category number. Mark of Vice (Su) This ability works like a mark of justice (Will save negates) but it is only triggered if the creature attempts to find a redemption to its corruption (subject to GM adjudication). The mark is also invisible and is always placed over the victim’s heart. Oppressive Heat (Su) A creature that fails its save against an infernal dragon’s breath weapon can’t benefit from morale bonuses for 1 minute. If the creature fails another save against the breath weapon during this time, it is staggered for 1 round. Shredding Stone (Su) A Deep dragon creature gains a +4 bonus to confirm critical hits with its claws. What Do You Covet (Su) Once per day as a standard action a corruptor can grant a wish to a nonevil aligned mortal (cannot be an elemental, fey, outsider, or nonliving creature).

S, W, F :)
First off... totally read that as “Single White Female” lol XD
S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?
Hm, any type of romantic tropes, love at first sight, lost loves, reunions, etc… I’m a romantic at heart, so I love those types of things.
W: Do you like more general prompts or more specific ones?
I love any type of prompts, to be honest. I love when someone likes my writing enough that they want to prompt me and see what I do with it. That said, I do love prompts that give me a bit of freedom like single word or sentence prompts! :)
F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
Ok, I have gotten this type of question many times from other fic asks type questionnaires. Usually, I always post the same scene, but I will mix it up this time and pick something that a bit newer!
As for why I am proud of it. It’s setting up this world within the present day that these other didn’t even know existed. They didn’t know anyone could speak to the gods, but the Oracle, they didn’t know about the holiday’s that Noctis celebrated. As he said earlier in the story this is from, their world has been tainted by lies. He is showing them truths. So, as odd as it is for Noctis to get used to their world, he can still blow their minds lol. I love it. :)
Bowing his head, Noctis made his way to the altar of Titan as the other four remained a few feet behind him. They stood there quietly when suddenly one of the most lovely tenors Nyx had ever heard exited the man's lips and echoed through the chamber. It created a reverberation within the room that was one of the oddest sounds the man had heard in his life. Orange, yellow and brown gems within the walls pulsed with power. The room glowing bright and dim as Noctis continued the song that had no words, and yet seemed to speak volumes. Then the trembling came, it wasn’t a violent crash but a gentle rocking that seemed to sweep through the room then recede.
“Nu mañ vaju jachu fax chadañ!”
The deep voice seemed to come from everywhere, and yet there was no presence other than the five of them. Looking upon the altar, Noctis held the cup up with both hands. “It is I, Noctis Lucis Caelum. First son of Regis Lucis Caelum, the Third King of Lucis. Blessed of Shiva, Beholden to the Goddess Etro, who reigns over life and death.” A rumbling occurred once again as the four looked at one another, but the Prince didn’t falter in his words. “Chosen of the crystal to become the King of Kings, that our light may forever shine and see the scourge, and the accursed be abated!” His words were greeted with silence, dark eyes closing. “I have come seeking your blessing upon the fall equinox, as all of my blood have done since the rise of Solheim. Will you accept?”
It seemed as if they were holding their breath, the stones around them continuing to pulse with power. But it was the silence that reigned.
“Noctis.” Nyx went to move, an odd feeling filling him, telling him that he should be at the man's side. Seeing the prince shake his head, Nyx stayed where he was.
“I have done all you urged.” His words were a whisper, but the room amplified them. “I know I have failed once, and the Gods saw fit to take all I knew away!” Noct’s voice hitched, eyes squeezing closed. “I have nothing left but the prophecy that the Gods placed upon my shoulders as a child. I will fulfill my calling, but you must have faith in me!”
Once again there was silence, and then a rumbling. “Gud…”
Letting out a shaky sigh of relief, Noctis nodded and drank from the cup in his hands. The other four did as well. “God of Earth, Archaeon, mighty Landforger. I beseech you to recognize this offering for it is all I am and all I will ever be.” Setting the dirt on the altar, he opened up the cloth it had been wrapped in, then grabbed his knife. “The land that I preserve, the people that I have been sworn to safeguard.” Wrapping his hand around the blade, he pulled quickly as blood flowed from his closed fist onto the dirt. “The blood of my line, the name of Lucis Caelum that was granted to us by the crystal. This I give to thee, Titan Lord of the Lands.”

Colours of Pride
ao3 // inspired by the Pride Flag colours and their respective meanings (loosely)
RED: Life
Red is the hot pulse of alive. That thing that drives Dean when it’s him and a were, or a vamp, or a demon, and maybe a knife. Red is the weight of his favourite gun in his hands. It’s the whistle of a bullet he doesn’t wait to see hit its mark. He knows it will. He is already gone, the way blood recedes into a rag.
Red is how difficult cleaning up is when there’s a thrum of do, and do, and live, and kill, nagging just under Dean’s red plaid. Just under his red-stained skin. He can scratch with red under his nails but the itch will remain.
Red is the way he fucks Cas sometimes. Violent and demanding. Red streaks clashing against gold where fingers dig a brief home. Indents of teeth left in plump lips. Red cheeks, tinted shoulders and flushed cocks. Red is the way Cas takes it, like he is the one who is giving, here.
The flames were red, or at least that’s how Dean recalls the memories of his four year old self. Red screams, a red command, something red on Sammy’s mouth, red that rivers not from veiny eyes, but from the crack in his soul. New and hungry. Ready to grow like red.
Red is the beginning, it is the end, and in Dean’s case, it is a lot of the in between.
ORANGE: Healing
Orange is that one summer day. It is the sun when it dips below the horizon. It is the shimmer of heat in the distance. Orange is the sorbet Cas orders. It’s in the way he licks it, tentative then eager, curious then playful. Too much like the child Dean never got to be.
Cas’ laugh is the prettiest orange. It wasn’t always, not back when it was restrained, weighed down by wings black as tar. It’s bright, now. Boisterous. Oozing orange as much as the vibrant sky.
Orange is Dean’s orbit. Revolving around Cas like a swiveling door, unable to stray. Unwilling. Orange is every time Cas smiles at Dean, organic, unforced. More oracle than ornament, speaking a loud orange truth that does not need to be said. Not between them, not anymore.
Music is orange but Dean turns the radio off anyway to pull over on the side of a dirt road. Cas reminds him they have a home now, a shelter that they don’t rent by the night. Dean shrugs, says he needs a rest and trusts that Cas will understand what he means.
The hood of the Impala is hot like orange. Burning to the touch but Cas bare-butt-sits on it anyway.
Cas laughs, lips stained from sorbet, while Dean fumbles with orange rubber. He asks if they’re in a rush. Dean rolls his eyes, sinks into the giddy invitation of spread legs and makes Cas moan, rich like treasure. Nothing has ever rung so right.
A round ass lifts to meet fervent, orange-happy thrusts and Baby rattles beneath them. Hands wrap around the back of necks, dragging bodies closer, and fingers press into the orange glow of perfect skin. Cas comes first, a sweet permission for Dean’s orgasm to follow. He will always be where Dean goes.
Their start wasn’t orange, despite hellfire, but this moment is.
YELLOW: Sunlight
Yellow is the neon signs of every other motel they stay in. It’s the colour of the worn carpets, made so by decades of shoes tracking in dirt. Yellow is the light in every cramped bathroom, it is the ring shaped stains around the drain. Yellow is the nine day old bruises on Dean’s abdomen, on his right shoulder blade. It’s the dying sunflower on his ribs. Almost healed, but not quite yet. Yellow is Dean, in that sense. Never healed quite yet.
The happy pop of Cas’ knees when they bend to meet the floor is yellow. So is the tremor of his lips. Yellow is the touch of them, soft and pliable like petals, against Dean’s most recent bloom. Yellow are the words that Cas presses into Dean’s warm skin, barely intelligible, and holding more meaning than Dean is ready to hear under a yellow sun.
GREEN: Nature
Cas has learned by now that churches are no good for praying, so he trades the pretty stained glass for the grass stains on his trench. Dean puts them there, every afternoon they spend rolling around in the patch of fresh barley behind the bunker. They hide in the tall blades and pretend that their time is for them to do with as they please. In the foliage, the burden of Earth isn’t theirs to bear.
Green is that reprieve. It is how new it feels to touch each other without the need for fabricated reasons. It’s laying on their backs in dewy fields, sides plastered together like pressed flowers. It’s Cas picking a sprig of mint, the one he likes best, and holding it up for Dean to smell while they lean in close. It is Dean accepting the offering with a smile and without resistance.
Green is the easiest of cases. It is the dried herbs in a hex bag that’s poorly concealed. It is finishing a hunt early, while the morning is as soft and quiet as the moss. It’s leaning against the Impala and watching the forest breathe. It’s dappled sunlight shining through the spring leaves of trees. It is not thinking of the witch buried beneath six feet.
Green is how free Cas feels when Baby is going about a hundred and the windows are down. The wind never felt like this back when he flew places.
Cas telling Dean to keep driving West is all green words. Dean doesn’t stop until they hit the coast. Green is the colour of the ocean with the sky cloudy as it is. Cas waves excited arms, says, look, Dean, without saying a thing.
The sea smells a little like mint, Dean decides, and mint smells just like new.
BLUE: Magic/Art/Serenity
Blue is the bleak lulls between good days. When Dean is drowning in the job and in misplaced guilt, blue are the cinderblocks shackled to his feet. Blue are the ghosts in Dean’s chest, stealing his every other breath. It’s a sick normal Dean shouldn’t be used to.
Blue is the silence they cannot find comfort in. The cold coffees spilled into sinks. The slices of pie that are left out too long, that have grown stale. Blue is the reminder that things don’t last as long as they should.
Blue is how Dean will glare at Cas in bed. How he’ll think the soft slack at his wrists is more than he deserves. He wants to have to strain against them, wants them cutting the flow of his veins. Wants them tight like his flannels feel at times. Constricting, shaming him for hoarding air he hasn't earned. But the way Cas glares back is indigo.
Blue is Dean finding solace in the hypoxia. It’s how he’ll let himself sink if it means escaping flames. A retreat into the blue appeal of stillness.
Cas will touch their lips together, swap his own inhale for Dean’s, extinguishing blues, exchanging others.
Then, the blue pause makes way for other colours.
PURPLE: Spirit
Purple is the satisfaction of a scratched itch. It is the pleased sigh of fingers finding their place. It’s petal locks of hair and a steady pulse. It is a short breath laced with long emotion. Purple is speaking with palms.
Purple is the promise of a punishing pace, later, when they fuck. It’s the damp spot on the pillow made by a puffy, swollen pout. Purple is the right angle. It is pressure building, a perfect peak and the sweetest push over it. It is a tidal wave and the astral plane. Purple is the beat of peace. The one only Cas has ever given Dean.
Purple is Dean peeling back layers of himself, showing Cas parts of him he’s kept hidden for far too long. It is Cas learning about time. About its passage. About how he won’t have enough of it, not with how much of Dean he wants to see. Purple are the moments he grasps tightly like tangible things, refusing to let them pass.
Purple is Dean’s plaid hanging loose on Cas’ frame. The pot of coffee split between their large cups. It is standing just in front of the bunker and pretending it is a porch. It’s the painless bubble they choose to share.
Purple is hopeful, and it is pooling out of the pink crack in Dean soul.

Menace #32: How Did We Get Here?(Part 3)
Part 4
I wish someone had come with me, it’s just me, Jenny thought as she pushed herself through the wooded forest. It had occurred to her some time ago that the forest was leading her in circles. No matter which direction she ran, or for how far, she always ended up skidding to a halt against the shore from which she entered. As she ran, she could swear she heard whispers, maybe laughter, and thought that this was all some bad joke of the High Priestess of the Forest. Despite this, she had nothing left to do for herself except continue through the foliage.
She was looking for a village, she decided; she knew there was one because of the huntresses that had almost killed her, and, although they were hostile, she assumed that they would have food, and that had become her top priority. As she heaved herself once again through the jungle, she figured that a higher view might aid her in her pursuit. A small but firm tail sprouted from her buttocks, and extended at a length behind her. She sharpened her fingernails and dug them into the bark of the nearest tree, scaling the wood. Hoisting herself atop the branch, she looked forward across the leafy ground; seeing no more than she could before, she decided to continue climbing, poking her head above the thick leaves of the tree.
Across the green tops of the large trees, she saw a large clearing only a few hundred feet away. She ducked her head under the trees and began swinging in the direction of the clearing, using her tail occasionally to hold to the branches of the tree. After a time, she poked her head above the tree-line once again, and noticed that — somehow — she had managed to swing herself farther from the clearing. This fucking forest, Jenny thought to herself, sighing angrily at the jungle beneath her. She decided that she could no longer trust her direction when in the forest. Then she had a crazy idea. Alright, one chance, that’s all you get, so get it together. She felt the firmness of the branch beneath her feet as they slowly began to meld into thicker, longer feet that she imagined to be similar to the feet of a kangaroo. Am I really doing this? She asked herself as she bent her knees. With one swift push she launched herself vertically into the air above the trees, seeing that the clearing held a large wooden, arena-like wooden structure, in the shape of a square with a large pillar on each side. She then forced her legs into the air behind her, forming her feet back into the soft, small things they normally were, and stuck out her arms, letting the skin extend down her body into loose, wing-like structures. Her skin began to harden into leather-like structures and, as she began to fall, she began to glide down towards the arena. “Holy fuck, I can fly!” She screamed into the air and continued to stagger down into the clearing.
As she landed on the wooden square, she retracted the wings back into her arms and landed hard on her feet. Note to self: never do that again, she thought, as she fell onto the hard wood. It was not uncomfortable. She wondered what such an odd structure was doing in the middle of a forest. Suddenly, she felt something weird beneath her, almost like the pulsing beat of people moving about. In the center of the arena, there looked to be a hole, with a small ladder leading down into the dark underground. Despite the placement of safety on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, she decided to try the ladder.
As she descended, rung by rung, into the darkness she noticed how quickly the darkness had overtaken her. All she could smell was the dampness of the ground around her, and, before she’d realized it, her feet were pressed against the soft dirt that made up the ground. There were no torches or artificial lighting where she was, and she got the sense that she had entered into a large cavern. She almost considered trying to echo-locate other objects in the room, but decided that first she’d try night vision. Now then, who can see in the dark? She thought to herself. Her pupils began to constrict and tighten as they began to take on a more feline expression. Jenny blinked a few times to orient herself before opening her eyes to the cave-like structure she had entered into. She looked up, noting that the sealing was smooth and clean, forming a large perfect square before rounding out at the edges and sharply dropping to the floor forty feet below. The floor was littered with what looked to be gifts: large sacks of golden coins, dead boars and animals carved nicely to look like ornaments, and strange gems and necklaces decorated the ground of the cavern. Far from the ladder sat a girl — no older than Jenny, she was sure — crumpled up agains the wall with her head in her arms.
“Hello?” Jenny called out to her, not sure that she had seen her enter.
“If you want your future, you need to bring an offering,” the girl called back. “The Oracle demands it.”
“What if I just want some food?” Jenny replied. The girl on the opposite end of the cave seem surprised, and failed to respond immediately. Jenny took a step forward. “I’m just pretty hungry, man, and I’d really like to not have to chew my own leg off.”
“I… I have some food,” the girl finally decided. Jenny noticed her waving her over, so she went and sat down next to the girl. She handed her a round fruit that she had never seen before, and Jenny took a bite.
“What’s your name?” Jenny asked the girl.
“That is a good question,” the girl responded. “They just call me the Oracle. Well, the other me. This me doesn’t really have a name. Oh, that must sound crazy.”
“Just a little,” Jenny admitted.
“Well, it’s in these fits of passion the Oracle takes over my body and can tell the future; normally when people bring an offering or the like. Most of the time I’m just me though, but I’ve never really thought about a name. I never really talk to anyone. Except the Oracle, but he’s kind of mean. I… I do my best,” the girl said, and Jenny couldn’t help but hear the weakness in her voice. “Were you really just down here for food?”
“Yeah. Why are you down here?” “Oh, Kesia says that, if people were to see me, they would not believe in the Oracle’s power. I think she’s right. Or at least the Oracle does and I think I agree. The power to know the future is a really great thing, apparently, and if we were to lose that, we might suffer. It’s my cross to bear. What are you doing on the island?” The girl asked.
“Training, I think,” Jenny replied. “Penance, maybe.”
“Penance?”
“Penance. I couldn’t stay where I was,” Jenny told her. “There was too much there that was my fault. I thought — maybe — if I came here and got better, I could keep everyone safe next time. But I don't think I can.”
“Why not?”
“It’s just not me,” Jenny sighed a long sigh and stared at the ground. “I’m no hero. I just have superpowers, yknow? Plus… well, plus there’s always the Fear.”
“Fear?”
“Yeah… yeah. There’s this concept in Endarian culture called the Fear. It’s normally a trait attributed to divine beings, that some small, original trace of evil exists in these divine forces, and it is simply waiting for a time to overcome the good. My mom always said I was born under weird stars. I don’t know if that means I’m a gemini or my mom was fucked by a god, but I have these powers… these powers too similar to be coincidence. And this evil. People keep telling me about it. It’s kind of terrifying.”
“Well, take it from me, someone who constantly has this other weird thing inside her—” Before she could finish, they heard someone crawling down the ladder into the darkness of the gave.
“Oracle!” Kesia called into her perceived black nothingness. “I have come to learn my future.”

*Disclaimer* Whenever working within a path or practice which involves potential risks (such as blood magick, summoning potentially harmful entities, or working with anything you are new to, please take necessary precautions and always do your research!
This post provides a list and description of different types of witch paths and witchcrafts. Since there are so many paths, some may very well be missing. However, as a beginner or someone who is simply curious, this is a great way to start learning about what types of magick exist and how many different paths there truly are. (Also, I wanted to make something for my own record)
It is important to remember that you do not need to be one type of witch, or feel limited to fit into any of these types. Part of the beauty in witchcraft is that a witch is free to create their own path, choose to focus on one path, or follow many at the same time. Some paths are branches of other paths, and because of this they will seem extremely similar or may incorporate some of the same tools/practices. If you classify yourself as a particular kind of witch, you are still able to incorporate other practices (as much or as little as you wish) within your craft when desired, or decide to change your path all together, at any time. The possibilities are endless.
Please keep in mind, the descriptions provided in this post are general overviews, and not a complete definition of each path. It is impossible to perfectly classify every path. This is because witches within the same classification may hold different beliefs, or practice their crafts differently. No two witches are exactly the same, even within the same classification.
Now, let's begin ~
Air Witch: Witches who work with the element of air, and the energies thereof. They may work with things such as feathers, movement, incense, the breath, and other air-based magick.

Some feel that through experimentation, it does not matter what one believes so long as their tools or system of magick were implemented effectively. Therefore, belief may be considered a tool in and of itself. On the same note, they tend to feel intentions/will are key above all else, and the tools will not make or break the practice. They typically fear nothing, and may have a more scientific or experimental approach in their practice.

I have separated these paths below from the above descriptions due to controversial views in the beliefs of many witches. You will most likely hear these terms used to classify different types of magick or witch paths. It is up to you whether they exist or not. Depending on who you ask, some witches will claim there is no such thing as black/dark magick or white/light magick, and anything in between (such as gray/grey magick). Others will say they do exist and are prevalent within paths they consider either light or dark.
These descriptions are provided to clarify what most consider them to be, this is not to give my opinion on whether they are real or not. Their existence or relevance in magick is up to you to decide for yourself.
Black / Dark Witch: Witches who practice the “left hand path”, (LHP). They focus on "dark" or typically harmful magick. Some may believe these are unethical practices.
Gray/ Grey Witch: Witches who practice “neutral form” of magick. They tend blend and use a balance of both harmful and benevolent forms of magick.
White / Light Witch: Witches who practice the “right hand path”, (RHP). They focus on benevolent magick. Some may believe these are more ethical practices.
"In Western esotericism the Left-Hand Path and Right-Hand Path are the dichotomy between two opposing approaches to magick. This terminology is used in various groups involved in the occult and ceremonial magic. In some definitions, the Left-Hand Path is equated with malicious black magick or black shamanism, while the Right-Hand Path with benevolent white magick. Other occultists have criticised this definition, believing that the Left–Right dichotomy refers merely to different kinds of working and does not necessarily imply good or bad magickal actions." Learnable Magic
All of the below-listed categories can be learnt by any Versipellis without any exception. It's possible to lack the talent for one of those, but it will never be impossible for an individual to learn at least the basics of it. Most Versipelles focus on 2-3 connected categories during their life to use them in their full form.
III. I. Abacomancy One of the oldest abilities as the use of the Versipellis ancestors was documented even before Ezriel appeared - which counts back to 500.000 AR. Abacomancy is the art of receiving an answer or a small glance at the future from supernatural forces through interpreting patterns in sand, dust and ashes. In some cases, the user also drops bigger objects such as bones or teeth. No matter the material, the object is dropped on a flat surface and interpreted. III. II. Alchemy Even though Alchemy might be the most taken subject during elementary teachings, only a few individuals focus on this topic as it is very big and also difficult to fully understand. Often also called 'meta-chemistry', it can be closely linked to the subject of science as it focuses the nature of different substances and their reaction to each other. Alchemy in the modern world mostly focuses on the search for materials which have the ability to turn worthless and cheap matters into valuable substances such as gold and silver. Next to this, it's also often used to understand the Spirit World better as many reactions are able to give a short glimpse into said dimension - and even more as the results from Akumenos's research show. Alchemy is a big science for itself and can be quite dangerous in case of mistakes. III. III. Arcane Magic This category is basically elementally neutral energy which can be used as an offensive or defensive force. As Arcane is seen as completely neutral, it is neither weak nor strong against any other type of active magic which can be used in fights. It's also quite often the first category young children learn as it's quite easy to control and can't be manipulated into backfiring during training. III. IV. Card Magic Formerly thought to be a blessing, Card Magic is still quite rare among Athusians - probably due to the need of a full set of cards or at least the one of a card symbol of choice, additional to the required knowledge about the interpretation and meaning of symbols. It is still discussed if this category is really one on its own or just a clever link between hypnosis and psychokinesis; reports suggest that the first option is the case. Next to being able to harden cards with induced energy, moving them with the sheer power of will and simple card tricks, the user is also able to force an opponent into hypnosis, even if this requires a lot of luck or psychological knowledge. This hypnosis can only be pulled through if the correct card is literally pinned to the opponent while the user focuses all of their energy on this one card which usually causes all other cards to either disappear back into their storage (in the case of an experienced user) or just drop to the ground. If the correct card is chosen, the opponent will start to dissociate and fall into so-called 'empty state' in which they are completely separated from their memory and life experiences but take on the identity of the card. This state can last between 5 seconds up to multiple days, depending on how skilled the caster is and how much energy they use for this. III. V. Catoptromancy Related to other forms of divination, Catoptromancy is the art of using mirrors to question supernatural forces or to get a glimpse into the future. As those hints are very vague, it's usually up to Oracles to interpret the results. These hints might come in form of a trick of the light, an unusual reflection or rippling on the mirror's surface. III. VI. Corrupted Magic Rather being the name of a family of magic than a type on its own, Corrupted Magic is known to have many different categories and uses - and almost all of them are equally dangerous to use. The usage of these powers will always lead to irreparable damage to the caster and their environment; what kind of hazards exactly are caused by this depends on the sub-category. There is no known way to prevent this since as soon as the first spell was cast, the progress can't be stopped, even if it's not used again after this. The only being known to be able to handle this ability without carrying away damage is the goddess Sirath. Necromancy was also considered to be a sub-category of Corrupted Magic but proved itself to be a topic on its own. Corrupted Versipelles are also commonly known as 'Pestilentia' as they are known to bring death and sickness to those around them. Neither of these abilities can be mastered. > Disease Magic A quite questionable category as it includes the ability to control diseases and parasites, including hazardous fungi. The alone presence of a so-called 'Pestilentia' draws flies to them, even if no scent of decay is in the air - it's probably the atmosphere around them. Disease Magic can't create new ailments, even if it's known to be able to drive the development of new pathogens forward. Pestilentia have a longer life expectancy and higher living quality than most corrupted individuals as they experience a full immunity to symptoms caused by their own bodies (such as fever) but still can infect themselves with their own powers. Most users show of rotting skin as many attract flesh-eating bacteria and necrosis. Blood poisoning and organ failure are the most common causes of death. > Radiation Magic Also known by 'Fallout Manipulation' or just 'Fallout', Radiation Magic highly focuses on the control of alpha, beta and/or gamma rays which are produced by radioactive decay of atomic nuclei. This category is not often practised because as soon as the caster learnt it, they can't stop it anymore until they die. To be more precise, Radiation Magic is based on corrupting the Aether flowing through one's body to the degree of it starting to emit its own energy in the form of particles and rays. Due to this, the caster ends up suffering from a slow proceeding radiation poisoning, radiation damage and also ARS in the end. This is also the reason why Radiation Magic is seen as a last resort to learn as it is really damaging to both spell caster and nature. As the Versipellis emits it themselves, they also affect organisms in their surroundings. This type of magic was often used in wars as fatally injured soldiers were often sent back to the enemy after learning this kind of magic, poisoning them in the process. Big parts of Eleancia are still in a lockdown state and the use of this kind of magic is highly questionable to the point of being banned. The final hours of the individual are determined by their physical tier of energy. While low tiers suffer from a fatal case of Acute Radiation Syndrome, Tier IVs often emit so much energy that their own chromosomes start to break apart - resulting in a long drawn out and painful death if they aren't put out of their misery quickly by organ failure. III. VII. Crystallomancy Another form of divination and quite similar to Catoptromancy. Visions are achieved through setting oneself in a deep trance while gazing at a crystal of at least the size of a fist. Even though it would be possible to have a vision when using a small gemstone, it's easier to see and understand if it is seen on a bigger medium. Crystallomancy is one of the most used methods by Oracles as it gives away the clearest visions. III. VIII. Culinary Magic Discovered by a cook who was overwhelmed by the amount of work he had to do and ran out of ingredients for a wedding meal. A culinary mage is able to create wonderful dishes out of almost nothing in a short amount of time with a great taste. Users of this category can also turn inedible materials or small rations into rich and tasty meals without harming anybody. Food can also acquire healing properties when prepared by a culinary mage. III. IX. Elemental Magic Next to arcane, elemental magic is the most basic categories in existence. While many mages prefer to learn and master the control of only one element, a few individuals wish to study more than a single one. All elements can be combined with each other. All of these have a maximal range of 10 meters. > Air (Aerokinesis) Rarely chosen, but a powerful element after some practice as air is not visible to the naked eye if it doesn't carry dust or other small objects. Attacks and defences build up with Aerokinesis are transparent and usually can't be seen. Although this might be considered as a clear advantage, the big area needed to let attacks fully unfold their power always delivers leaves, grass or other small objects to make the gust visible. It's not possible to pull the air out of living creatures. Air is considered to be a stealthy element as it barely leaves any traces, can be hidden in the natural wind and is invisible. > Earth (Terrakinesis) Related to strength, earth is the element of warriors and guards as its powers can be used as a defensive tool just as armour. Its name is slightly misleading though - Terrakinesis doesn't necessarily include dirt and earth, but rather stones and minerals. The weight of them isn't giving any limits as long as the stone is still connected to the ground and covers less than 5m³. If the stone breaks loose from its origin, the user loses the control over it. This allows the individual to quickly build walls of any thickness, let stone spikes shoot out of the ground or create caves in grim weather situations. Some users are even able to create gems and other valuable minerals to control them. > Fire (Pyrokinesis) Often chosen, rarely understood. Fire is the only element which serves a purely offensive purpose - next to its rather minor use of giving warmth. Users of this element are able to create and control sparks, flames and ember, even without a substance to nourish it. The controllable amount of fire depends on the magical rank of the individual. Pyrokinesis also makes the user almost immune to heat and burn wounds, but long exposure will still sear the hair and skin - it just lowers the chance of suffering from third-degree burns to a minimum. Smoke is still toxic. > Water (Hydrokinesis / Nephokinesis / Cyrokinesis) Due to its fluency in its state of matter, Hydrokinesis can be divided into three more subtypes which are taught each by each as every state has its own way of handling and uses. While most only learn one of them, some spend a lot of time to master all of them to be a recognized Nereid. These individuals are also able to fluently switch between each kinesis type by changing the state of the water. If Nepho- or Cyrokinesis are the only learnt category, ice or steam (humidity of around 50% at least due to weather; boiling water near the user is also possible) have to be present before the individual starts. Elemental control around water is a multifunctional tool as water is everywhere and can be used as a help to survive in the wilderness, as defence and also an offensive weapon. The maximal controllable amount is 100 litres in the liquid state. Blood isn't included in Hydrokinesis as its amount of particles makes it too thick. Same applies to heavily polluted water. > Combinations Whether if combined by one user with multiple ability sets or a group, elemental magic offers a wide range of combination used in daily life and combat. Not all categories are compatible. Air + Earth = Control of small dust storms or stones carried by the wind. Air + Fire = Control of small fire tornados (rarely used as they often are out of control). Air + Water = Can create small storms, even tiny thunderstorms if done by several IV mages. Earth + Fire = Creates a small amount of lava which cools down extremely fast though. Earth + Water = Creates a huge pile of controllable mud. Not very useful outside of agriculture. Fire + Water = Substitution to Nephokinesis III. X. Extrasensory Perception Also known under the shorter name ESP, this ability describes the magically enhanced Sixth Sense which can help to detect energies, supernatural creatures or lingering danger. Individuals with at least an advanced rank in this category also show a high intuition towards emotional matters. The ability to project their own thoughts onto another being is also documented, but rare. III. XI. Green Magic While the magic category of tending to plants and mushrooms rather sounds quite peaceful, Green Mages are known to be quite dangerous if threatened in any way as it doesn't only describe the art of growing plants, but also everything about natural poisons. Next to being able to make plants move and grow to their will (such as letting roots snap out of the ground to wrap around another being), individuals with at least an advanced rank in this category are not affected by natural poisons found in plants. III. XII. Illusions This category can be divided into auditory and visual illusions which can be combined with any rank higher than high rank. The abilities of Illusion magic are pretty self-explanatory: Users are able to create either visual phantoms of objects and/or even living creatures or sounds (can either be simple noises such a door shutting or even a voice talking) after either getting into physical contact with the victim by touching them or owning a piece of them, such as nails or hair - this makes them invisible to any other person. These illusions grow in their quality and stability as the user improves rank-wise; as long as it is low or lower high rank, visual phantoms shatter as soon as they are touched while auditory tend to have static in the background or sound corrupted. III. XIII. Mind Control While any other categories in this list are learnable by mortals, Mind Control is exclusively for Demonicae Inferiae who are either taught by the original ones or take their place. The basics of Mind Control are simple; it's simply about putting impulsive thoughts into the head of the victim either until they do it or manipulating them to follow whatever the user wants them to do - as long as it stays in their learnt category. There are six known categories but all apart from Luxuria apparently died out during the Primal Wars - even this one only has two known users which makes Mind Control the rarest ability found in Athusia, even compared to blessings. Acedia - Latin for sloth - describes the ability to drain the victim of all energy and wishes to speak, move or do anything other than breathing while resting. Avaritia - Latin for greed - describes the ability to make the victim crave all kinds of goods - money, valuable objects, etc. Often makes the victim lie, steal and manipulate to get more and more. Invidia - Latin for envy - describes the ability to kindle hate towards others over their achievements, goods and life; this often makes the victim lash out to the point of injuring or even killing the person they project this onto. Gula - Latin for gluttony - describes the ability to force the everlasting feeling of gnawing hunger onto the victim, making the literally eat and eat until they die. Ira - Latin for wrath - describes the ability to make the victim highly aggressive and violent towards any provocation, no matter if it was meant to be. Luxuria - Latin for prodigality - is quite a misleading term as this category has two areas to influence: The need to spend money but also sexual desire. While first the first one is rarely used as it is rather destructive on a social level, the second option is often utilized to make the victim dependant on the caster - or to get something from the victim by earning their trust this way. III. XIV. Necromancy While lower ranks simply aim for the ability to communicate with deceased individuals to either get information or to force them to weaken living persons, high ranks have their main goal in the re-animation of corpses, producing revenants. This category is morally questionable as soon as it comes to manipulating the dead for their own use. Revenants aren't the person they were before their death, but rather an empty shell which is mobile until the decay will claim even this before ending their life a second time. This process can take up to 6 months. A necromancer can re-animate up to three corpses at the same time; in this state, these bodies are fully under the control of their master and will act to their will - which leads to even more controversial points. Necromancers are frowned upon as soon as it is known that they use their abilities this way. Revenants basically move until they are physically unable to do so - this can be achieved by a severed head, severing nerves or by cutting through muscles & tendons until they are immobile. These creatures survive for a short time when they are set on fire, can't drown and are immune to cold as long as it doesn't freeze them. Their main drive is either what their master tells them, but also the need for living meat to fill the void their placeholders left in the afterlife. When their master dies, so will the revenants. III. XV. Oceanic Magic Often confused with Hydrokinesis due to its vague name, Oceanic describes a magic category of a cult of Azaroth. Not much is known about this cult apart from one ritual which is also the only thing known about this category by the vast majority. Oceanic Magic heavily focuses on the Metamorphoseon, the ritual to shift into a creature which can survive underwater for the rest of their life. This can't be reversed. The ritual itself circles around the shifting individuum who has to travel to a specific small island near the underwater colony of the cult where they stand in the water of the sea while being watched by the leaders of the already shifted group. Chanting of an ancient language and the sacrifice of earthen figurines under the full moon will eventually make the individual morph into their new form. This is basically their regular appearance with their legs and replaced by an often vibrant fishtail of an existing species. The change also affects their equine form. After this, they can't breathe air anymore and are bound to live in the underwater society. What else is included in Oceanic Magic is a secret, but there are rumours about the ability to communicate with the creatures of the sea and a special bond to Azaroth himself. III. XVI.
