No, but something about the bird whistle that plays in Puppet History and the Melancholy optimism it has just DOES something to me.
It’s introduced in the end of “Americas First Black Aviatrix” when we see the Professor looking at the stars with his parents. Dinosara points out a bird as her constellation and tells Professor about a bird that she’d listen to during the nights when she was stressed. How she’d hear it and know that if the bird was okay, then she would be too. It’s introduced as an indication of Hope and optimism.
At the same time, a little whistle is played out that is repeated multiple times when we’re with the real Professor. (I’ve included the best sounding version of it I can get in the video at the bottom, but if anyone has a better version where you can hear it, I’d love to have that)
After it’s introduced, there are three main times I can remember where it is played. Once, at the End of that episode, Once at the beginning of the Meteor Song, and once at the End of the same song.
At the end of that same episode, as Professor and his parents are talking and the music swells, the bird whistle rings out and everything is peaceful. It’s a melancholy moment because the Professor misses Ryan, but he does seem happy at the moment. Then the music turns dark and we see a small glint of light way off in the distance. Anyone who knows anything about the dinosaur times knows what that is.
And that hope and the good feelings we had from the star gazing and the bird song immediately turn to dread. And it’s an incredible way to do multiple things at once. One, mess with the emotions of the viewers by setting up that emotional whiplash. Two, simultaneously still give us that hope that maybe they’ll still be okay, slim as it might’ve been at the time. And three, reset our brains to not associate that bird song with hope as we initially might have.
The next time we hear the whistle is at the beginning of the meteors song, and it actually plays out twice there, but I’m grouping them together because they’re literally seconds apart. One is right before the music starts and the Professor starts singing, and after he’s talked with his parents about going to Dinosir’s favorite rock to watch the world end. It’s not a hopeful moment by any means, but more melancholy and accepting. The world is ending and we’re going to die, but we’ll still be together. The second one is during the line “Had a hunch it wouldn’t last”, which only emphasizes the point of acceptance.
The last time we hear it is at the end of the same song, right after Ryan rubs the lamp and right before the meteor hits. We don’t know if Ryan’s succeeded or if the Professor has died, but there’s a sort of peace with either answer. Because, like the bird song, it’s not necessarily happy, but it’s nice.
I don’t know what the point of this was, I just really like the way Shane uses the bird song to set the mood. It’s fascinating.

Things that make me cry:
1. Anything about Jim Henson’s funeral,
2. the musicians going down with the Titanic, and
3. the Professor calling the pterodactyl puppet “dad.”

Yasammy Week ~ Day 3: Prom
Tumblr media
“Mom, we really have to go.” Yaz mumbled, eyeing the large pickup truck Sammy’s father had parked near the entrance of the Gutierrez Cattle Ranch. The engine had been running for little over an hour now, no thanks to her misty eyed mother, who decided she needed an album’s worth of photos of their Prom Dresses. Sammy didn’t seem to mind, in fact, she was fully on board for the mini photo shoot. Yaz rolled her eyes, but smiled nonetheless. Prom could wait a few minutes more.
@yasammyweek
Not sure how to feel about Mrs. Fadoula’s angle here, but it’s good enough !!! Also, yes, Yaz is holding a mum, because Sammy is a Texas girl and she wants to spoil her girlfriend. I know they’re more of a Homecoming thing, but she’s just extra like that :3 (Yaz has no idea what to do with it). Yes, Sammy will be going to prom in cowboy boots, because Yaz is wearing sneakers under her dress, too.
Their designs here are based on what we see of them in the finale of Camp Cretaceous, when Yaz and Sammy grew out their hair. Very pretty :3

i think robin buckley really liked dinosaurs when she was younger so she read all the books in the library about them and would go into the toy store to play with the dinosaur toys for hours but not buy them since she didnt have any money and one day somebody buys her favorite dinosaur and eventually she moves on despite how heartbroken she is and it turns out that the person who bought the dinosaur was nancy wheeler and robin finds out because she sees the dinosaur on nancy’s shelf and says “it was you!” and nancy is like “pardon?”

Necromancer!Damian Au except it's just Damian chucking dead animals at the pit to see what happens (what happens is Damian gets an army of undead loyal animals that will bite anything and everything except Damian and are fiercely protective to the point where no one can seem to get within a 5 feet radius of him. Talia is torn. On the one side it means her baby is safe and can't be reached by Ra's or anyone with ill will towards him, on the other, she also can't reach him. Funnily enough, Damian's army is getting more and more extravagant cause he realized anything dead he throws at the pit comes back so he started with pets and is now chucking random bones at it).
It's all fun and games until Damian finds Tim, a kid a bit older than him traveling with his parents in an archeological expedition who happens to be carrying the huge bones of an undiscovered animal and is on his way to deliver them to the museum. It doesn't take much for Damian to convince Tim to come with him and throw them at the pit, see what happens. It's a 30 feet long dinosaur. It's big and scary and takes chunks of everything and everyone that gets within 10 meters of him, except Damian and Tim. Naturally, Damian tries to convert it into vegetarianism. Funnily enough, whenever he feels like he's making progress a league traitor is somehow found too close to the dinosaur and it's back to the start for them.

@unexpectedyarns replied to your post “My sewing room is mostly furniture'd, but I...”:
Cut the legs on the too-tall sturdy one.
Absolutely not. The too tall but sturdy one is my wonderful 8 foot by 3 cutting table, which is an old lab bench that the university was getting rid of, and which is just the right height for standing up work. The sewing machine just needs a small table.

Remembering that "broody" refers to mother birds' behavior with their eggs and thinking about the implications of that.
That edgelord blorbo brooding in the corner? He's grumpy because babies appeared and his parenting instincts are kicking in with a vengeance. There are three or more sidekicks hiding under his cloak and he glares death at anyone who looks at them.

Unhinged ask time! I always wanted to ride a dinosaur. Which dinosaur is stomping John Winchester to death?
any and all of them because he’ll go time travel to dinosaurs thinking he can catch one before taking care of his kids
