She ate two pairs of my glasses this weekend and isn’t even remorseful.
#she figured out how to jump onto my dining room table where I keep my shoes and glasses when not in use#and ripped up the cheaper pair so bad the lenses weren’t even in it anymore#at least for my expensive pair she only got the tips of the arms so they’re still usable#I’m still pissed though#leia organa#puppy#shiba inu#I hate this part of puppyhood

#txt#going through his ig stories and getting jumpscared#GIRL PUT A CONTENT WARNING#WARN A GUY#also they ate at carbone at south pointe and im like wait but they went golfing-#*immediately gets reminded of the huge stupid ass fucking golf course that takes up half that dumb manmade pennisula of a city*#i feel so much hatred towards that thing i erase from my mind for my own health#also i did go wow the amount of traffic they had to wade through just to 1. get there and 2. get out#ive been corrupted by soflo the first thing i think about is not the enjoyment but the traffic#if you want to know the relation of carbone to catch (the seafood place the team ate at before they went clubbing) its a block away#they like dining in south point lol#from what i remember ages ago south pointe was more of a quaint residential area that tourists avoided because anything past 5th street#wasnt worth looking at so a lot of residents spent more time on that side of the city than the north if they wanted to chill at the park#that also connects to the beach with a cool pier like it was always regarded more of a hidden gem than anything else#that families spent time in on weekends playing soccer or picnicing or drinking mate like i know yearly easter egg hunts were held there#i say that but there WERE more expensive restaurants in the area before (joes stone crab which has been there for ages)#i just suppose now a lot MORE have opened up since then and kinda transformed the area into a bougier place#as if there isnt a cheap sandwich shop like a block away too lmao#yeah the development of “expensive food restaurants” in quiet residential areas is weird! and that city is filled with it!#i could go on about how hispanic refudgees viewed mb since the 60s to the 00s versus how tourists view it now but oop! thats an essay!

RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE AT INSTITUTIONAL SOLUTIONS THAT DONT ACTUALLY SOLVE FUCKING PROBLEMS
#Midwest College TM#putting everyone on a dining plan wont solve food insecurity you dipshits.#the dining halls are NOT friendly to dietary restrictions#and ppl can be food insecure ON the meal plans!!#also it'll be more expensive!!! part of the appeal of drawing into interest houses is that there is no meal plan requirement & it's cheaper#literally assuming that everyone food insecure is on full finaid is absurd. so fucking basic equality-not-equity liberal brain#this coming after the college terminated a program (anonymous; popular; & desired)#w a local food shelf bc it'd 'put strain' on them. & the shelf said uh no actually we want ppl to use our resources.#abhorrent. somebody get me a bat or shoot me out of a cannon.

You know when they said “not counting fast food” they were literally talking about fucking Applebee’s and the Cheesecake Factory and other chain restaurants that are essentially sit down fast food lmao (to be fair I genuinely think those 2 users might be young teens)
#And you know what they are right they’re bland and flavorless#But a lot of these people seem like teens and children who literally have zero frame or reference#Honestly when would they go to a quality restaurant? Either expensive quality or hole in the wall?#They only know the post-marvelfication of restaurants where all we have is fast casual dining#Way too expensive fancy stuff#Or holes in the wall that are way way more rare and also usually still out of people’s price range#So the only “restaurants” most young people have been to are chain fast casual places that offer specials and deals for their bland food#Going out to eat has been a fucking nightmare we cook significantly better at home#And most “restaurants” are disgusting and disgustingly expensive#It’s bad out there folks#And I think people are overestimating (or forgetting) how many small businesses survived the pandemic#I sort of derailed from movies but the metaphor still works both ways even with all the shit I just said about restaurants lmao

Is Chicago, Illinois Cheap or Expensive? Here’s the Answer.
If you’re mulling over a move to this bustling metropolis and scanning the “real estate for sale in Chicago, Illinois”, you’re likely curious: Is Chicago cheap or expensive?
Housing Costs in Chicago
When it comes to the housing market, the prices are as diverse as the city itself. A general consensus shows moderate costs compared to coastal cities.
Chicago’s Real Estate Market
From luxury condos downtown to single-family houses in the suburbs, Chicago has a range of accommodation styles. Naturally, the cost varies depending on the type and location.
Luxury Living in Chicago
If you opt for the high-end spectrum of “new properties for sale in the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs,” prices can reach into the millions.
Middle-of-the-pack Living
For more modest budgets, homes outside the hub can be attractively priced, providing excellent value in terms of space and amenities.
Cost of Living Index
Considering other living costs, Chicago’s index stands at 106.9, slightly above the U.S. average of 100. While some areas could be expensive, others are surprisingly affordable.
Food and Leisure Prices
Dining out in Chicago can be both a bargain and a splurge. Street food is wallet-friendly, whereas fine dining experiences can be quite steep.
Transportation Costs in Chicago
Getting around Chicago with public transit systems is reasonable. Meanwhile, parking and gas prices can significantly increase the commuting costs for car owners.
Verdict: Cheap or Expensive?
As seen, it completely depends on your lifestyle and where you choose to live and dine. By researching and budgeting, it’s possible to find cost-effective solutions.
Find Your Preferred Lifestyle
The housing options align with a wide range of budgets, whether you’re browsing budget-friendly homes or looking for extravagant properties for sale in the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs.

-->And then I noticed the entire wind farm was broken again. *sigh* Well, nothing to do but Repairio the lot. Again. *grumbles* At least all that spell slinging got Victor another Talent point! I had him start his new potion while I chose his new Talent – and as he’s been spending a lot of time on Alchemy lately, “Potent Potables” to give his potions extra oomph when drunk seemed like a good choice. I then took a moment to check in on Smiler and get them to drink some plasma fruit and a plasma pack (the latter they insisted on drinking on the back porch couch with one of the cats – Alice ate her waffles there too, as you can see. Can’t say this family does not love their pets!), before sending them to harvest the coconuts, soy beans, and garlic from the greenhouse, and put some plasma fruit in the (reset) juice fizzer (as I was hoping using it would encourage it to stay functional – seems to be working so far!). I was just getting ready to have Smiler super-sell the rest of the greenhouse when I checked back in on Victor –
-->And found him standing over a cauldron of a worryingly black liquid with red mushroom clouds coming out of it. Three things then happened in quick succession –
I. I got a notice from the game that Victor had picked up the Curse of Repulsiveness from a failed potion, as Victor himself turned green and warty. Shit – should have gone with the “Hexproof” Talent!
II. I got a notice from the game that Victor’s potion had failed, but he HAD managed to get a Bottle of Questionable Contents from the failure.
III. I got a notice from the game that Victor had successfully completed an aspirational milestone and thus had completed his New Year’s resolution!
Yes, apparently failing his Potion of Nausea and getting a bottle of – stuff counted as brewing another potion to the game! XD Well, I happily took it, as did Victor. Once he woke up after fainting from the fumes of his vile potion. XD And the curse was no big deal, as Victor has LOADS of aspiration points, and thus was easily able to buy himself some Potion of Curse Cleansing and down it to clear the curse. (That should PROBABLY be more expensive in the rewards store, but currently not complaining.)
-->Anyway – with Victor’s curse cleansed, and Smiler having cleared out his cauldron for him while he was unconscious, I sent him to join Alice for a nap (she’d already zoomed off to bed earlier for a snooze after having her waffles and taking care of business afterward), while Smiler super-sold the greenhouse and then flew up to their party barn area to practice mixology – after all, they did have a house party to rock that afternoon! Alice woke up first – I had her go talk to Smiler’s Sixam Mosquito plant Snappy, as per her wants, then sent her downstairs and, eventually, got her to take Shadow for a jog to both make the dog happy and continue working on her Fitness. Smiler then got their Plasma Fizz and started work on some Strawberry Fizz while Victor got up, Repairioed a busted water collector, and cleaned up some dishes and such around the house –
#sims 4#the lazy save#victor van dort#alice liddell#smiler always#I love how my attitude toward the wind farm is 'oh look all the turbines have broken again'#seriously they break SO MUCH#I guess it's good for training both Victor's magic AND his Handiness depending on what I'm feeling#but sheesh cut us a break here#I do find it amusing that both Alice and Smiler insisted on snacking on the outside porch#next to the kitties#like we have a perfectly good dining table#but no couch and cats#even more amusing is that FAILING to brew a potion still counted as 'brewing a potion' to the game#probably because Victor still got a flask of SOMETHING out of it#along with a curse#but yes the Potion Of Curse Cleansing is pretty easy for him to get#do feel like it should be more expensive#like I can understand WHY it's a rewards store thing#for people desperate to clear curses#but still -- your Sim should have to have a decent stockpile of points to buy it#ah well no big deal#look at how good Smiler's gotten at balancing bottles instead#they are a master!#need to have them make drinks more often just for the fun animations#it's very them#queued

#i need 2 make a littlelike. Actual needs section#specifically for the kitchen stuff bc . truth be told i wont need a stock pot or a loaf pan or a muffin tin or a kitchen thermometer right#away.. but i want them eventually.#i think itll be like... 5 tiers ? one is like. there is no way to substitute anything else for this u need this. and thatll be like. a#frying pan. a saucepan. yk.. just you need those like 2 cook#two is likee. plates and bowls and silverware bc i can get paper and plastic at first yk. but still rather important that i get them#3 is more specialized thangs like. stockpot... etc.#4 is like 3s twins but more expensive so like slow cooker blender etc. Very necessary for the things theyre necessary for but yk#5 is This would just be quite convenient. like a stand mixer or the electric whisk things.. maybe even one day an electric can opener#imagine the luxury i could live in if i had an electric can opener... we had one when i was little but that thing fucking hatd me so bad#it bit me one time. but ya so 5 is like in no world do i NEED this. but it would be rly awesome 2 have....#now the issue is those r all quite kitchen focused criteria for each thing so i have 2 figure out how to translate for#other rooms like my dining/living/bedroom (im probably getting a studio apt lol)#bc there r definitely things likee. i need a couch b4 i get a coffee table yfm. i should have a bed before i buy a table lamp...

DATING SEUNGCHEOL INCLUDES…. — sfw
• sugar daddy or boyfriend? (the answer is both.)
• the definition of a REAL MAN. no one has ever treated you with as much respect or given you as much love as seungcheol has.
• you're his pretty little passenger princess and he's your personal chauffeur.
• mom and dad of the group, duhhhh.
• he would drop anything and everything just to give you his undivided attention, no matter how important it is.
• yes. he would still love you if you were a worm.
• he would definitely give you his bank card without a second thought. it would also be linked to your phone, he insists on you using it always and would throw a fit when you don't.
• you would also give him your card at times and he always takes it without a fight, but would never use it.
• would take you out on dates in which you can dress up pretty and maybe dine at a fancy and EXPENSIVE restaurant. don't be fooled though. he also pays attention to the little things so if you're into books, he's taking you to a library themed restaurant. if you like animals, he's booking a ticket to orlando and ya'll are going to the rainforest cafe or something.
• you would never have to lift a finger ever again.
• he would wash your car, fill it up with gas, and take it to go get serviced without any complaints.
• he would burn down the world for you.
• he always puts you first. if he had to pick between you or the company (if they ever made him choose) he doesn't even need to think, it would be you every time.
• also your body guard ! any social gathering ya'll attend, he always has his eyes on you no matter how far away you are from him.
• times in which you do drive yourself, ya'll are definitely the type of couple to have life 360 on each other. he would text you saying to slow the fuck down if you're speeding.
• no matter how much you insist he goes to sleep and no matter how late you're getting home — it could be 4 in the morning, he will ALWAYS wait up for you.
• he has the habit of buying you anything you even slightly mention. he also pays close attention to the things you look at when out shopping together and they would show up delivered to your apartment the next day. he would take the heat from you, but still would continue to spend his money on you.
• when you have a bad day, he is already there with open arms ready to give you the biggest bear hug and shield you from the rest of the world.
• whenever you two go out together, he always has a hand on your back to guide you through crowds or just so everyone knows that you're off limits.
• if you ever lose during game nights with friends or really anywhere, he would do the penalties for you!
• he always makes sure you're on the inside when walking near a street.
• if you ever doubt yourself or feel insecure, prepare for a long serious conversation with lots of tears because he WILL NOT be having any of that. no. not when he thinks you're one of the most beautiful, talented, and honorable people he knows.
• you have never felt so safe and secure than when he's around.
• he will constantly be saying "i love you." definitely the type to call you back immediately if you forget to say it and hang up.
• he has a personal agenda out for revenge against anyone who hurts or disrespects you in any type of way.
• he will be your designated driver for not only you BUT your friends as well during girl's night out.
• he may be competitive, but when it comes to you, he would let you win just so he can see a smile on your face.
• says he CAN'T (won't because he's stubborn) fall asleep if he's not cuddling you.
• he becomes the softest most kindhearted person in the world when it comes to you.
• he gets jealous easily, but he trusts you with his whole heart so he doesn't dwell on it for too long.
• when it comes to arguing, no matter if he was in the right or wrong, he is always the first to apologize. definitely the type to get you chocolate, flowers, and ALWAYS gets you a teddy bear after.
• would make you sit on his back when doing pushups or would give you a piggy back ride when he is doing pull-ups !
• he LOVES when you wear his clothes. you would always find his shirts or hoodies on your side of the closet and be like "hmm, how did this get here?" ask your boyfriend.
• rarely ever calls you by your name. always calls you baby or something cute. he also insists that you don't call him seungcheol. he will pout if you do.
• definitely impressed your parents right off the bat. your family absolutely adores him and your parents treat him like a son.
• he would tease you by giving you a hug when he's all sweaty after practice.
• he INSISTS on picking you up EVERYDAY after work.

literally so insanely fucking funny that i was like oh jeeeeez im moving to a famously expensive city the price of groceries is going to be so much more than it already is like groceries are my second biggest expense next to rent and it's nuts. yo food is cheap as hell here bc there's so many places u can always find stuff cheap places i am paying literally like a THIRD of what i did back home for the same amount of food that lasts me the same amount of time because i am taking my happy ass to aldi. back home it was like. u lived near the grocery store u lived near and whatever they charged u is what they charged u and fuck my gentrified neighborhood all we had was kroger conveniently nearby and i could never be bothered to drive 30 minutes to somewhere cheaper so i was paying sicko mode prices for food at kroger omfg. ironically i'm now taking transit 30 minutes to go to my beloved cheap aldi but it's weird how night and day that is as far as like. how it feels and what's worth it. public transit fucking rules driving 30 minutes is like hmm no not worth it taking the train 30 minutes is like yeah no problem whatsoever.
#and between gas and car insurance and god forbid car maintenence costs#transit works out to cost pretty much the same LIKEEEEEE...#it's just superior in every way#anyway nyc W i love you nyc i love cheap groceries i love public transit#honestly i think it's only expensive as FUCK to live here bc of rent prices v hard to find reasonable rent#and also like nightlife and dining CAN be expensive depending on ur tastes#BUT if you can find a place w decent rent (hard to do!) and ur frugal and aren't trying to do fancy shit#it's literally about the same as my home town fhajfjhshf which is famously extremely low cozzy lives for its size#well not famously but. many have said this.#shitpost.txt

I finished my Rome book and have now begun one about Pompeii. I’m 65 pages in and I already love it: yes, it covers the volcano, but most of the book is about “this is what the town and daily life of it would have been like, actually.” Fascinating stuff. Things I’ve learned so far:
- The streets in Pompeii have sidewalks sometimes a meter higher than the road, with stepping stones to hop across as “crosswalks.” I’d seen some photos before. The book points out that, duh, Pompeii had no underground drainage, was built on a fairly steep incline, and the roads were more or less drainage systems and water channels in the rain.
- Unlike today, where “dining out” is expensive and considered wasteful on a budget, most people in Pompeii straight up didn’t have kitchens. You had to eat out if you were poor; only the wealthy could afford to eat at home.
- Most importantly, and I can’t believe in all the pop culture of Pompeii this had never clicked for me: Pompeii had a population between 6-35,000 people. Perhaps 2,000 died in the volcano. Contemporary sources talk about the bay being full of fleeing ships. Most people got the hell out when the eruption started. The number who died are still a lot, and it’s still gruesome and morbid, but it’s not “an entire town and everyone in it.” This also makes it difficult for archeologists, apparently (and logically): those who remained weren’t acting “normally,” they were sheltering or fleeing a volcano. One famous example is a wealthy woman covered in jewelry found in the bedroom in the glaridator barracks. Scandal! She must have been having an affair and had it immortalized in ash! The book points out that 17 other people and several dogs were also crowded in that one small room: far more likely, they were all trying to shelter together. Another example: Houses are weirdly devoid of furniture, and archeologists find objects in odd places. (Gardening supplies in a formal dining room, for example.) But then you remember that there were several hours of people evacuating, packing their belongings, loading up carts and getting out… maybe the gardening supplies were brought to the dining room to be packed and abandoned, instead of some deeper esoteric meaning. The book argues that this all makes it much harder to get an accurate read on normal life in a Roman town, because while Pompeii is a brilliant snapshot, it’s actually a snapshot of a town undergoing major evacuation and disaster, not an average day.
- Oh, another great one. Outside of a random laundry place in Pompeii, someone painted a mural with two scenes. One of them referenced Virgil’s Aeneid. Underneath that scene, someone graffiti’d a reference to a famous line from that play, except tweaked it to be about laundry. This is really cool, the book points out, because it implies that a) literacy and education was high enough that one could paint a reference and have it recognized, and b) that someone else could recognize it and make a dumb play on words about it and c) the whole thing, again, means that there’s a certain amount of literacy and familiarity with “Roman pop culture” even among fairly normal people at the time.
