Double Date [Hero x Brandi and Bebe x Mikhael Fic for OMORI Rare Pair Week 2023]
Tumblr media
When Brandi discovers that Bebe and Mikhael have made their relationship official, she asks her friend, Hero, to accompany her on a double date with them in the hopes of convincing her sister to raise her standards. Hero hasn't even thought about dating in years, and though he knows this isn't a "real date," a fun evening out, the company of a good friend, and maybe even a surprisingly deep conversation with Mikhael might just get him thinking that maybe he'll be ready to put himself out there again someday. And, who knows, maybe "someday" might even be closer than he thinks...

A/N: Thank you so much for supporting our newest contribution to the "Hero Deserves To Be Happy" genre (if that isn't already a genre, it definitely should be)! We think that Hero and Brandi's relationship (whether romantic or platonic) is very underrated and have always been extremely fond of Mikhael x Bebe so we were really excited for the opportunity to write about them for OMORI Rare Pairs Week 2023 hosted by @omorirarepairweek Day 6 Prompt: "Double Date." Thank you for reading! 💙
“Tequila shots?” asked Hero with a concerned expression. Brandi huffed as he took a seat beside her on the rickety metal bench that was one of the only pieces of furniture in the backyard of her sorority house. She quirked an eyebrow at him and his bottled water, then stared him dead in the eyes as she threw back her shot glass.
“I don’t want to hear it tonight, Hero.” As she shook her head, Hero’s face flushed. He hadn’t meant to pry into her business or offer any sort of judgment on her beverage preferences. He had just been a little surprised. Brandi was the one familiar and often the only other mostly-soberface at the wild college parties he often found himself roped into, and while she usually indulged in a beer, a hard lemonade, or a rum and coke, he had never seen her throw back multiple shots of tequila. She always insisted the cheap booze they had at these parties wasn’t worth the headache she’d have the next morning, but he supposed it was none of his business—even if she was his friend and he was worried about her.
Before Hero could begin to apologize, however, Brandi huffed, then shrugged her shoulders. “My sister, Bebe, called earlier—completely ruined my night.”
“Is everything alright?”
“That bozo, Mikhael, finally made it official.” Rolling her eyes, she reached for another shot of tequila from a nearby table.
Hero scratched the back of his neck. “Well…uh…they have been talking for a while, haven’t they?”
“Don’t remind me,” huffed Brandi rolling her eyes. “I guess I was just hoping he’d eventually get bored before he asked her to be his girlfriend.”
Hero sighed. He didn’t know Mikhael very well but from what he had heard from Kel he was so desperate for a relationship that he was actually paying girls to pretend to be interested in him at one point. Hero couldn’t imagine him giving up on a girl who was actually interested in him, but he wouldn’t say that to Brandi.
“I have no idea what she sees in him…” She huffed shaking her head bitterly again. “I’ve tried to tell her he’s bad news, but she never listens to me.”
“Well…you know…the Hooligans aren’t really that dangerous, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Hero tried to reassure her with a gentle smile. “Sure they mildly inconvenience people and engage in some petty theft, a little vandalism, and some bullying, but they’re not hardened criminals or anything like that so I’m sure Bebe is safe—”
“Yeah, I know they’re pathetic,” Brandi interrupted. “It’s not about that. It’s about Mikhael being a moron—running around town in that stupid wig, calling himself ‘the Maverick,’ and acting like he’s in Dragon Ball Z.”
Hero chuckled awkwardly. “Well…uh…it’s good have hobbies…and…you know, maybe he’s just…spirited…?” His voice hitched at the end of his sentence, as if he wasn’t entirely sure himself.
Brandi huffed—raising her eyebrows at him before she replied in her blunt, matter-of-fact way, “You’re too nice for your own good, you know? Sometimes people are just morons. You don’t have to reach to find something positive to say about them.”
“I’m not…reaching…” The crack in Hero’s voice implied otherwise. He had always been a bad liar. “I’m sure Mikhael has lots of good qualities. I mean…Aubrey is friends with him.”
“And does she have anything nice to say about him?”
Hero swallowed hard—his face growing warm. The honest answer was no. Aubrey had nothing but complaints about Mikhael even harsher than the ones Brandi had. “You know, Aubrey is not a very…openly…complimentary…person…” he stumbled, and Brandi just blinked at him with a huff.
“That’s what I thought,” she said shaking her head, but she sighed. “You know, as much as it pains me to admit it, the real problem here is Bebe. If she had higher standards and didn’t want to go out with him, it wouldn’t matter how much of a bozo Mikhael is. But she’s so…trusting and naïve.” Rolling her eyes, Brandi frowned, but Hero’s expression softened. He could tell she was worried about her sister, even if she wouldn’t admit it.
Brandi sighed again. “If I was home, I could keep a better eye on her, but I’m not sure what I can do from here…”
With a tilt of his head, Hero patted Brandi reassuringly on the arm. “I’m sure Bebe will be okay, and you know, even if you were at home, she probably wouldn’t let you tag along on her dates or anything anyway.”
“Yeah…I’d have to go on a double date with her and Mikhael which would be awful.” Brandi stopped abruptly—her brow furrowing, as she tilted her head thoughtfully. “I wonder if that would work. Maybe if Bebe saw me with a guy who was actually decent, she’d realize she should raise the bar. I just don’t know who that would be—it’s been slim pickings out there ever since I broke up with Trent.”
“Well…I have a lot of fraternity brothers who would be happy to go out with you. They think you’re…” Hero stopped—thinking of the best way to clean up his fraternity brothers’ penchant for referring to Brandi as his ‘hot friend.’ He cleared his throat. “Very attractive…”
Brandi shook her head. “No, I don’t date frat guys. I already told you. They’re barely a step up from Mikhael.”
“Okay…but some of them are nice…”
“You don’t count,” Brandi interjected with a pointed stare. Hero blushed. He hadn’t been talking about himself. “You’re not a frat guy—you’re a den mother. They just keep you around to do the cooking and cleaning and laundry.”
Hero supposed this was all true. He had basically been begged to join that fraternity, and ever since had been giving his fraternity brothers kind and helpful lessons about how to prevent their house from once again turning into a toxic wasteland. In exchange for teaching them how to wash windows, use fabric softener, and cook food that wasn’t instant ramen, they had affectionately given him the nickname “Mama.” He decided it would be best not to tell Brandi about that, but from the look she was giving him now, he was sure she already knew.
“What about a pre-med major? I have some friends in my classes I could ask. Steven is a really nice guy, and I think he’s here tonight actually…”
Brandi blinked at him, then asked with a blunt, matter-of-factness. “Is Steven the guy currently choking on that beer bong?”
With a roll of her eyes, Brandi tilted her head towards the far corner of the yard where,  sure enough, Steven was surrounded by a rowdy group of cheering people guzzling copious amounts of alcohol from a neon beer bong.
Hero sighed. “You know, he’s actually very smart and very polite…when he’s…not drunk…”
“I’m sure,” quipped Brandi, before she shook her head again. “Listen Hero. The goal here is to get Bebe to raise her standards. Drunk party guys are not going to cut it.” She sighed. “I’d need to take someone like you. You’re the nicest guy I know. If I showed up with someone like that, then maybe she’d start thinking she could do better, but that’s not going to happen if I show up with beer bong boy.”
Hero swallowed hard, and his face flushed red. “You…you want to take me? I…I don’t know…” he stumbled, but thankfully she cut him off.
“It’s okay. I wasn’t going to ask. I figured it would be insensitive all things considered. I know you’re not ready to put yourself back out there.”
She paused, and Hero fidgeted with his hands. He wasn’t sure if it was more that Brandi knew him so well or if he was just obvious about it.
“Um…it’s not…I mean it is…but I just meant…” With a heavy sigh, he stopped—running a hand through his unruly hair. “I haven’t been on a date since I was 15. I think I’d be terrible company.”
“Eh,” shrugged Brandi dryly. “Something tells me you’d be better than at least half the first dates I’ve ever been on. I’ve been on some pretty bad dates.” Brandi laughed, and Hero tried his best to stifle a chuckle behind his hand. He felt guilty for laughing. “But I get it. I don’t want to make you uncomfortable. I know you don’t feel right about dating anyone when you still…” She stopped abruptly, but Hero nodded. She didn’t have to finish that sentence. It was no secret he really hadn’t been interested in dating at all since Mari… It just didn’t feel fair to her, to her memory, and to whoever Hero could be with. They all deserved better. He swallowed hard. Maybe someday he’d be ready to put himself back out there, but he wasn’t there yet.
“I mean I hope you’ll put yourself back out there someday…” Brandi continued with a shrug of her shoulders. “If not for yourself then for the sake of the world and all the women out there desperate for decent men,”—she chuckled dryly—“but I just don’t think this is the way to do it. I mean, it wouldn’t be real, and”—she grimaced, gritting her teeth—“Mikhael would be there.”
As Brandi rolled her eyes, Hero stifled another laugh, but his brow furrowed thoughtfully and he tilted his head. “It…it really wouldn’t be real?”
“No, of course not.” She waved her hand dismissively. “We go out to dinner all the time. It would be just like that.”
“But Mikhael and Bebe would think we were dating…Do you really think they’d believe that?”
“Bebe believes Mikhael was in Top Gun,” quipped Brandi. “He was a toddler when that movie came out.”
A slight smile tugged at Hero’s mouth in spite of himself, but he bit his lip. “I just don’t feel right lying to them.”
Brandi shrugged with a lopsided smile. “You don’t have to. It’s not lying if you just leave out some information, and if someone runs with the information they do have, then that’s their problem.”
Hero chuckled and gently teased, “You’re going to be an awesome lawyer.”
“I know,” laughed Brandi playfully bumping him with her elbow, but she tilted her head at him. “You’re really considering it, huh?”
Though his face flushed, Hero somehow managed a nod. “You’re…one of my best friends, I…um…I want to help.”
Brandi’s expression softened, and she playfully ruffled his hair. “You’re really sweet, you know that?” Hero’s blush deepened. “Tell you what: if you agree to do this for me, we can take my car back to Faraway Town for the weekend and I’ll pay for all the gas and everything. You’ll get to see your family and your friends, and you’ll miss out on that awful keg party your frat is hosting. There’s a couple of unpleasant hours with Mikhael, but we’ll pick a good restaurant so hopefully the food will be worth it. Then we come back here and carry on like nothing ever happened—what do you say?”
Hero took a deep breath, but a smile twitched in the corners of his mouth as he met Brandi’s eyes. “Okay,” he said. “I’m in.”
*-*-*
“And then I said, ‘No. No, Mr. Mayor you don’t have to give me the key to the city. It was all in day’s work for I, The Maverick…” Mikhael flipped his hair—upsetting his wig which he swiftly readjusted, shifting in place in his booth at the nicest economically-priced Italian restaurant in Faraway Town. It had been difficult to pick a restaurant in Mikhael’s price range after Brandi had staunchly ruled out Gino’s—which Hero, somewhat guiltily, suspected she had done for his sake knowing that he had taken Mari there on their first date years ago. Hero appreciated her sensitivity but felt guilty for making things more difficult for everyone. After all, Hero supposed it didn’t really matter where they went—it was going to feel strange going out anywhere after all this time and after everything that had happened. Even though he knew it wasn’t a real date, Hero had been worried about it for days and spent far too long trying to pick out his clothes and get ready. He even picked up a potted plant for Brandi to be polite—an orchid which Basil had assured him was low-maintenance. Hero supposed that suited her best. She had always been so independent, strong, and self-reliant. Plus, he thought with a slight flush in his cheeks, it was pretty like her.
Hero cleared his throat pushing the thought away and turning his attention instead to Bebe who was staring at Mikhael positively enraptured. Despite what Brandi said, Hero honestly thought it was kind of sweet how smitten Bebe was with Mikhael. She was perhaps a little infatuated and misguided, but she was sincere and Hero could tell she thought the world of him. How Mikhael felt about Bebe, however, had yet to be seen and was likely the real problem.
“Wow!” she sighed wistfully. “You’re so amazing, the Maverick.”
“I know,” he hummed with a somewhat smug grin.
Brandi pressed her hand to her forehead and shook her head—rolling her eyes for what had to be the twentieth time that night. Hero sighed. It had only been half an hour. Their food hadn’t even arrived yet.
She shot Hero an exasperated look as she reached for her nearly empty glass of wine. “Regretting your decision to agree to this yet?” she quipped through her teeth. Hero stifled a laugh, but he shook his head.
Surprisingly enough, if he was being honest, Hero was actually having a really nice night so far, but he didn’t think it was the right time to tell Brandi that. Perhaps he never would, but he did sheepishly admit, “No.”
“I suppose it is better than that keg party…” Brandi twisted her mouth to one side, and Hero shrugged—his brow furrowing.
“I hope my fraternity’s okay. I made a bunch of food before I left and cleaned up the house and did everyone’s laundry. I even left some emergency numbers on the fridge and twenty bucks.”
“You’re such a mom,” Brandi teased. “You know they’re just going to use that money to buy beer.”
Hero sighed. “I left them a note asking them please not to use the money for alcohol.”
“Oh, a note. That’ll stop them,” Brandi replied with a dry sarcasm. With a slight shake of his head, Hero sighed again.
“Don’t worry about them. They’ll be fine. And who knows, it might be good for one of them to pass out on the lawn. Some lessons they need to learn the hard way, and if they trash the house, you make them clean it up—okay, Mama?” She shot him a lopsided grin, and Hero tried his best not to laugh.
“Brandi…” he began to protest, but she interrupted—pointing her finger at him.
“It’s like I always say—they can’t treat you like a doormat if you don’t let them. Saying ‘no’ every once and a while isn’t going to kill you. I say it all the time.”
“Most of the time,” teased Bebe, and Brandi rolled her eyes.
“Nice to see you’re acknowledging I exist,” she quipped as Mikhael continued to ramble on about “spirit bombs” and his “true form” or something.
“Of course, I acknowledge you. Just because I have a boyfriend now, doesn’t mean you’re not still my sister. You have a boyfriend too—you know what it’s like. You’re not going to forget about me just because you’re with Hero now, right?”
Hero’s face flushed—unsure of what to say and still very uncomfortable at the prospect of lying to Bebe. Future-lawyer, Brandi on the other hand jumped in immediately, “There isn’t a guy in the world that would make me forget about you, okay?”
“Okay but do you think there’s anyone who could make my sister forget about me?” Mikhael interrupted. “And my brother too?”
“Why do you want your siblings to forget about you?” asked Hero in concerned confusion.
Mikhael dramatically leaned across the table motioning for them all to come closer then he whispered, “Because they’re evil.”
“Evil?” scoffed Brandi. “How are they evil?”
“They always want to spend time with me, and they’re always asking me all these questions—trying to keep tabs on me so they can report back to my nemesis and help him thwart my plans. And they keep wanting to play evil hide-and-seek.”
“Hide and Seek?” Brandi repeated with an exasperated expression.
“Evil hide-and-seek,” Mikhael forcefully corrected.
With a bitter shake of her head, Brandi reached for her wine. “I know I’m going to regret asking this, but how exactly is hide-and-seek evil?”
“Well, they’ve got these cardboard cutouts of themselves, and they hide them all around the house which makes them really hard to find. It’s horrible.”
Bebe wrapped her arm around him. “That sounds really awful, but Daphne and Bowen are so nice, maybe if you talk to them and tell them you don’t want to play anymore, they’ll understand.”
“I can’t talk to them!” exclaimed Mikhael so loudly that several people in the nearby booths turned to look at them. “They have spies everywhere, and they’ll just use what I say against me. I’m telling you—they are in league with the enemy. Your sister is too.”
“What?” Brandi asked, rolling her eyes.
Mikhael frowned, clinching his fist. “Don’t think I don’t know what’s going on here. You’ve brought my nemesis’s brother down here to spy on me. Well it’s not going to work!” Hero jumped backward in surprise as Mikhael jabbed his finger at his face. “I’m not going to tell you anything. So there!”
“I…I don’t understand…” stumbled Hero.
“Oh my gosh, Mikhael, grow up!” huffed Brandi. “No one is here to spy on you. This is just a date. I can’t believe you actually have a date, but since you do, calm down, put your big boy pants on and stop acting like a toddler.”
“I—I know!” chimed in Bebe in a shaky attempt to diffuse the tension. “What if we ordered this chocolate cake? It looks good right? And everybody likes chocolate cake.”
As Bebe held up the little advertisement set up on their table, Hero watched as Mikhael’s face fell just for a moment and he mumbled, “I…I…uh…” Then he stopped abruptly—letting out a melodramatic gasp and declaring far too loudly for a restaurant, “That cake could be poisoned! We can never be too careful.”
Bebe stared down at her hands. “Oh…” she said quietly. “Okay…”
“For goodness sakes, Mikhael, the cake isn’t poisoned,” hissed Brandi before turning to Bebe. “Don’t worry. I’ll buy you the cake, Bebe.”
“No…um…thank you, but it’s okay. I didn’t really want any anyway.” Bebe paused and sighed before standing up from the table. “I…um…have to go to the bathroom. I’ll be right back.”
As Hero watched her go and watched Brandi get up from the table and chase after her sister, he also wished he had an exit strategy. Unfortunately, he did not and was left in heavy, awkward silence with Mikhael.
By the time their waiter came with their food, Hero had forgotten how long he had been sitting there in the heavy silence, swirling his straw around in his drink. He practically jumped at the chance to help the waiter pass out the plates of food, thankful Brandi and Bebe were still in the bathroom so he had something to do to make himself useful.
He was so busy setting the table that he almost didn’t hear Mikhael ask in a voice much quieter than any he had used all night, “Hey…uh…how expensive is this cake?” Mikhael reached for the advertisement Bebe had been holding up before, but when the waiter finally revealed the price, he set it back on the table with a somewhat defeated huff.
Hero bit his lip, unsure of what, if anything, he should say. He didn’t feel it was his place to pry especially since he didn’t know Mikhael very well, but he definitely had some sympathy for him, having once been that broke teenager who wanted to treat the girl he liked to something special but couldn’t afford it. It was one of his great regrets that he had never been able to take Mari out anywhere fancier than Gino’s when she had been alive, and he didn’t want Mikhael ever having to have similar regrets about Bebe.
“Hey uh…if you want to get that cake for Bebe—”
“Huh? What are you talking about? I was asking for me,” huffed Mikhael interrupting him, but there was a flush of pink in his cheeks.
“Oh uh…okay…” stumbled Hero, staring intently at his plate. He hadn’t started eating yet, thinking it was more polite to wait until the girls returned. Surprisingly, he noticed Mikhael was waiting as well.
“Bebe’s sister really hates me huh?” he mumbled folding and unfolding his napkin. Hero could tell he was trying and failing to appear nonchalant. “Do you think it’s because of the cake?”
“No,” Hero replied gently, shaking his head. “I think she’s just…worried about Bebe—just being a protective older sister.”
Mikhael frowned but wouldn’t look at him. “My sister loves Bebe. My brother too. They say she’s the best thing that ever happened to me. They always want to invite her over so she can teach her how to bake. She’s pretty good at it—wants to be a pastry chef now.” He paused and grinned then quipped, “I mean, she’s not as good as me but she’s alright.”
A smile tugged at the corners of Hero’s mouth, and his expression softened. “Bebe is a really nice girl, isn’t she?”
Though he tried his best to frown and shrug it off, Hero couldn’t help but notice the slightest flush of red in his face. “Well…yeah…I guess…She’s pretty awesome. Everybody thinks so. And you know…I’m awesome too, but not everybody appreciates that…” His smug smirk faded just a little. “But Bebe does… Brandi doesn’t though—faking a whole relationship just to break us up.”
“Wha—what?” choked Hero, though he was sure his blush had given him away.
“Listen, I’m not stupid. I knew from the first time Bebe mentioned it that it wasn’t real,” Mikhael shrugged. “Aubrey says you’re never going to love again.”
With a heavy sigh, Hero bit his lip. “Aubrey said that?”
“Well…I think what she actually said was that she hopes you put yourself back out there because, you know, you’re like a brother to her or whatever and she wants you to be happy,  but she knows you won’t.” Mikhael sighed, twisting his mouth to one side. “But I dunno…maybe she’d think differently if she was here tonight.”
“I doubt it,” Hero chuckled awkwardly. “Aubrey could always tell when I was lying.”
“Yeah, but you’re the only one here who’s actually having fun tonight. That doesn’t sound like someone who’s never gonna date again.”
Hero blushed. It felt strange being called out by Mikhael of all people. He twisted his hands. “It’s…not like that. It’s not real.”
“Dude, you got her an orchid…”
“I was just trying to be nice,” Hero insisted hurriedly. “I…haven’t been on a date in a really long time, and I—” He stopped, realizing only then that he probably didn’t need to explain himself to Mikhael, but Mikhael just tilted his head and shrugged his shoulders.
“You wanna date Brandi for real?”
The idea gave Hero pause, as did the fact that a resonant “no” did not immediately come to mind. The truth was he had never really thought about it. If he was being honest, he supposed up until this point he had agreed with Aubrey that he would probably never love again. He was okay with that, but now… ever since she had brought it up, ever since he was actually out at a restaurant on a date even if it wasn’t real… He just wasn’t sure anymore.
“If you do, you already have an ‘in’ you know?” Mikhael continued. “Brandi hates everybody, but she doesn’t hate you so…there you go.” Mikhael laughed before he took another drink of his water, and Hero sighed.
“She can do better than me.” Hero’s eyes widened. He hadn’t meant to say that aloud. He was half expecting Mikhael to laugh or make fun of him, but Mikhael just stared down at his food.
He muttered so quietly that Hero almost couldn’t hear him, “Like me and Bebe…”
As Hero watched Mikhael hang his head and absentmindedly push his food around his plate, something twisted in his chest.
“No,” he reassured him, shaking his head with a kind smile. “You and Bebe are just fine. Here…” He paused, pulling his wallet out of his pocket and handing a 20 dollar bill to Mikhael. “Why don’t you buy her that cake?”
A wide, smarmy grin spread across Mikhael’s face as he took the money from Hero’s hands. “Sucker,” he muttered with a laugh before flagging down their waiter to order two pieces of chocolate cake.
Hero sighed. He supposed it was to be expected. It was Mikhael after all.
Before anyone could say anything more, however, Brandi and Bebe returned from the bathroom, and Brandi let out a heavy sigh and said, “Look Mikhael, I’m sorry if I came off a little too harsh. I’d like us to get along for the rest of the night.”
Mikhael’s eyes widened in surprise for just a moment, but he laughed and shrugged it off, “I guess, I, the Maverick, can accept your apology.”
Rolling her eyes again, Brandi sighed, but she turned her attention to her food. Hero stopped and smiled at her. She was so bold, so honest. The truth was, he admired that in her—he had learned that tonight.
He had also learned that Mikhael was full of surprises, and it turned out he had one more up his sleeve. When the two chocolate cakes he had ordered arrived, he gave one to Bebe, of course, but the other he gave to Brandi. Mikhael turned to Hero with an almost imperceptible wink as he handed the cake to a very perplexed Brandi and said, “Yours is from Hero.”
*-*-*
As they walked home that evening, Hero and Brandi hung back letting Mikhael and Bebe walk ahead of them, holding hands and laughing together about who knows what. Hero couldn’t help but smile at them. It was nice to see them so happy.
“Mission failed,” huffed Brandi sarcastically, but her mouth twitched in the corners. “Back to the drawing board I guess.”
“I don’t know…Mikhael’s a nice kid, and Bebe seems happy.”
Brandi sighed, playfully poking him in the arm. “What in the world happened when we went to the bathroom? You’re on ‘Team Mikhael’ now?”
“I thought you were on ‘Team Mikhael’ now,” teased Hero. “You did apologize to him. That was really nice of you.”
“Yeah well, after Bebe told me off for being mean, I thought I should probably try to be a little nicer. I’ve been told I’m pretty intimidating.” She laughed—shrugging it off. “I’d say I’m sorry for taking you out for nothing, but you actually seemed to have a good time tonight.”
“I did,” Hero admitted with a slight smile. “It was really nice. I’m glad you invited me.”
“Yeah, me too. It was nice to see you enjoy yourself again. It’s…been a while.” As Brandi’s voice faded, she shrugged her shoulders. The expression on her face softened. “I know we weren’t really close friends back then, but…I do remember what you were like—back when you were happy. I kind of miss it.”
Hero stared down at the pavement, and his shuffling feet before he mumbled, “Me too.” His face flushed. He hadn’t meant to say that. Brandi, however, didn’t seem to mind.
“Well…you know, if you do decide you ever want to put yourself back out there, you are going to make somebody really, really happy.” As Brandi smiled, Hero’s face grew warm, and he turned away from her. “Even though Mikhael was there, this is still one of the best dates I’ve ever been on. You’re sweet, attentive, a great listener, and you bought me flowers and cake. You’re a good one, Hero.”
“I don’t know about that,” Hero chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. “But I…uh…I did have a really good time tonight. You’re really great, Brandi.”
“Aww…” she teased before patting his cheek. “You don’t have to flatter me.”
“It’s…it’s not flattery. It’s just…I…want to thank you. I…uh…haven’t been on a date in a really long time, and this was really nice.” Though his face flushed, he somehow managed to meet her eyes. “Even if it wasn’t real.”
He turned away and bit his lip again—unable to face that look of confusion in Brandi’s expression.
“Did you…want it to be?” she asked, with as much bold bluntness as he would’ve expected from her.
“I…I…” he choked, the words getting caught in the back of his throat as his twisting hands began to shake. He thought he should try his best to be honest—to be bold like her. “I don’t know,” he admitted, but hurriedly added. “I’m sorry…is that okay?”
Brandi chuckled, but she smiled at him. “Yeah…that’s just fine, Hero. Tell you what…for now, how about we say, some of it was real.”
As her warm eyes met his, Hero felt a real, genuine tugging at his mouth and something warm fluttering in his chest, and Brandi leaned forward and lightly kissed his cheek with a kind, “Thank you, Hero. For everything.”
Then, she ran up ahead and grabbed Bebe right before Mikhael could kiss her and ran into the house. Mikhael started huffing about having had his chance at a goodnight kiss so rudely stolen away, but Hero didn’t even notice. He just stood there, frozen on the sidewalk, gently reaching up to pat his blushing cheek where Brandi had kissed it.
“Some of it was real…” she had said. Hero wasn’t sure what part of it was real and which part wasn’t. If he was being honest, he wasn’t sure he was even ready to even begin to decipher it. But for now, he knew that some of it was real—that he had a wonderful night and that for the first time in a very long time, he felt like he could, maybe, just maybe, be happy again someday. And for now, that was more than enough.

Bloated feeling
Burning sensation in the chest
Nausea or even vomiting
Acid reflux occurs when the stomach acid flows back upwards into the tube of your mouth and stomach. If this happens in multiple episodes and frequently, it can irritate your stomach lining (esophagus), and cause severe symptoms as mentioned above.
Since, an acid reflux is a result of the foods we eat; in today’s blog, we’re here to talk about some foods that trigger an acid reflux. Most people are unaware of the foods that are harmful to their gut system. It is important to be aware, so let’s get right into it!
10 hidden triggers of acid reflux
You might be surprised at the foods that cause acid reflux. However, the more you know the safer and more alert you become.
1.     Sugar
Refined sugar is present in various sweet treats like cookies, donuts, etc. Sugary foods cause acid reflux symptoms in many people; some more than others. Sugar may not worsen symptoms immediately after consumption. Try to identify any effects somewhat 48 hours after consumption. That said, artificial sweeteners trigger an acid reflux too, so if you’re looking for something better then try Lo Han Berry extract, also called monk fruit. You could even try organic stevia.
2.     Processed Foods
Foods made from potatoes, corn, wheat (pasta and bread), and table salt, that is, sodium chloride can trigger a reflux episode in people suffering from GERD. Research has shown that diets high in processed salt (not mineral salts) increase the chances of developing GERD.
3.     Refined Oils
Who doesn’t love a good salad dressing? We’d recommend you take a step back when deciding which dressing isn’t harmful. Salad dressings, mayonnaise, vegetable oils, soybean oil, and canola oil go hard on the stomach, making it impossible to break down the omega-6 fatty acids.
If you’re looking for a good alternative, olive oil tops proves to be a better option.
4.     Fruit Juices
It’s not just orange juice and lemonade that cause an acid reflux. Apple and cranberry juices have the same effect because they are acidic and filled with rich sugar content.
Lemon juice without sugar may not cause discomfort for all people with reflux. However, the reflux stage at which you may be is already severe then you may experience irritation and ulceration. This means that if there is a cut resulting from extensive acid reflux, you will experience the symptoms. If there is no cut then you may drink lemon water, or use lemon dressing on salads, etc.
5.     Fried Foods
Fried foods are almost everyone’s favorite and comfort meal too. However, too much of fried foods eaten on a daily basis can be rough on the stomach. Your stomach may find it hard to break down the food, which leads to gastric distension. A gastric distension increases pressure on the sphincter at the top section of the stomach. This increased pressure causes the stomach to open and release acid upwards into the esophagus.
6.     Processed Meats
Ground beef, chicken nuggets, and chicken wings, among other processed meats can trigger acid reflux. So, keep these foods on the low in your diet.
7.     Dairy Products
Sour cream, cheeses, ice cream, and cottage cheese are high in unhealthy animal-based fats. This makes it difficult to break down when consumed. Their high lactose sugar content leads to high lactic acid content.
8.     Any Caffeine
Caffeinated beverages; let us stress upon it that ANY caffeinated beverage, including energy drinks, tea, coffee, and soda will cause irritation. They irritate the esophagus and allow more stomach acid to flow upward.
9.     Alcohol
Alcohol is your worst enemy if you are suffering from GERD. If not, we recommend that you go easy on it and have it sparingly.
10.   Carbonated Water
Carbonated drinks like sparkling water or seltzer, and colas cause gastric distension, which pushes acid into the esophagus.
Avoiding any of these foods that are on this list of hidden triggers can prove frustrating. However, the symptoms manifested can be a far worse scenario, which may automatically reduce your temptations.
It is essential to maintain a healthy diet and make sure that you gradually reduce your intake of the above foods. Your body deserves that kind of attention and nurturing.

Far Gone (Jasper Hale) (1)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jasper Hale/Reader Words: 1600+ Warning(s): Angst, alcohol, mentions of smoking A/N: yee, I wanted to make this two parts~ I hope you enjoy. Sorry the first half of this part seems rushed Request:  Hi.. could you write a jasper fic where she accidentally gets hurt badly and so he leaves for a while and while he's gone she goes on a spiral downward and starts doing stupid shit to get her mind off him (ex: smoking/drinking/partying too much) and he asked Alice to keep an eye on her and she told jasper the readers spiral down and he comes back and kinda like scolds her and tries to get her to realise that these things she/he/they are doing are hurting and bad for the reader and he tries to help and can the reader like break down because they're trying but it's hard and jasper comforts them???? Does that make sense? I'm sorry I'm so shit at this Part 2: Coming soon
The sun was covered by clouds, but that didn't stop you from going on a forest walk with you vampire boyfriend Jasper Hale. It was damp and a bit slippery on the walk, and you were a bit cold but it was fine. You were spending time with Jasper.
"You want my jacket, sugar?" Jasper ask, noticing you shiver while you both walk along the path.
"I'm fine Jas! We are almost back to your house anyways, I can last." You giggle. You smile and step ahead of him.
   "Watch your step, (Y/N)."
"Don't worry so much." You said all too soon. There was an especially wet patch of fallen leaves that caused you to fall forwards. Luckily Jasper caught you before your face hit the ground, though your leg wasn't unharmed. A sharp rock under the leaves had caught your kneecap, giving you a deep and bleeding cut. You looked to Jas and notice his eyes were pitch black and his jaw was clenched.
He didn't hesitate to lift in his arms and take off running to his home. You gripped onto him for dear life until he came to harsh halt at his door. Carlisle swung it up and you were immediately brought into his study. You stared at Jaspers face, it was strained and it seemed like he was in deep thought.
"Jasper you should leave." Carlisle spoke with concern lacing his voice. Jasper nodded and left, leaving you watch his backside quickly disappear. "Don't worry, he will be fine, (Y/N). He is still getting used to blood. Now, let's get that leg wound cleaned.
--
You were back home. Emmett offered to take you home since Jasper was still out somewhere. Emmett gave you one of his signature bear hugs before you went inside your home. You pulled out your cellphone and dialed Jasper to check up on him. It went straight to voicemail, which concerned you but you dismissed it. He was probably clearing his head, right? You limped to your room, and got ready for bed.
You lay awake in bed. There was something about his face that worried you. You hope he would be okay tomorrow. At least at school you could pull him aside and talk to him. You yawned, a sudden wave of drowsiness hit you like a car. You closed your eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
--
It has been a week and a half since your fall in the woods and you haven't seen Jasper at all. The other Cullens were all at school with you and still talked to you, except for Jasper. You tried calling his phone multiple times and stopped by the house to check up on him, but he wasn't anywhere. The Cullens didn't know either, or claimed they didn't know.
Without Jasper, you anchor, your mental state started going down. You fell into depression and your anxiety was always on. You were so used to the southern vampires' secure presence, without him by your side, you felt lost. In school you weren't used to the chair next to you being empty or your walks to the cafeteria being lonesome. At least Alice, Rose, Edward, Emmett and Bella always kept you company during school. Though it always seemed like they tip-toed around the subject of Jasper and always tried to keep you close to them. It felt like you were being coddled.
You were on your way to the cafeteria when you over heard Jessica and Angela talk about an open party happening tonight. You let your impulses control you. You stopped going towards the cafeteria and walked up to the two girls.
"Hey, sorry to ease drop, but I heard you guys talking about a party?" You smile shyly as they both looked at you.
"Oh yeah!" Jessica grinned. "It's at Roman's house in Cherry Court. Anyone who knows about it is invited. I didn't take you as a party girl, usually you stay with the Cullens."
"I am a big partier." You gave a tight-lipped smile. You've only been to birthday parties ever. "I'm just always with the Cullens, I never hear about any parties."
"Well I can't wait to see you there!" She smiled and you waved goodbye, entering the cafeteria. You took your seat next to Alice and Rose. You didn't even pull out your lunch before Edward slammed his fist on the lunch table.
   "No, (Y/N)." He muttered.
"No, what?" You ask innocently, but you knew full he could read your mind. You looked to the other Cullens and the only one who seemed to know was Alice.
"You shouldn't go to that party."
   "And why not, Edward?"
"Because it is dangerous. Romans parties are known to be wild."
"Okay? I am still going to go." You snapped while standing up. "You don't own me, Edward. You don't control me. I'm sick and tired of this over-protectiveness."
"(Y/N), we are just looking out for you." Alice said, putting a gentle hand on your arm. "Jasper-"
"Jasper what, huh?" You exploded. "Every time I mention him you guys, you avoid talking about it. I get it. He left me. Now stop trying to protect me. I'm done with you guys. I'll keep the secret... just don't talk to me anymore." You grabbed your bag and walked away from the table of vampires. You were going home early to get ready for the party.
--
You stepped into the Brad's house with nervousness hanging around you. You did your make up heavily; dark eye-shadow, red lips. You wore a tight dress you didn't even know you had that reached just above your knees. You could feel eyes burning into your form.
The house was large and still packed with people dancing, drinking, smoking and making out. You gulped and wandered around, hoping to spot Jessica in the crowd. Luckily you saw her curled, red hair by the beverages.
"Hey Jess." You smiled as you approached. She turned around and gasped.
"Oh my gosh! You look amazing." She gushed. "Did you just get here?"
"Thanks, you too!" You smiled.  "And yeah, I did."
"Well you look all stiff, here." She turned around and grabbed a cup from the table before handing it to you. "This should make you relax."
   "Wh-What is it?"
"Just lemonade." She winked. "And some whiskey. Don't worry, it's good. I already had a cup."
"If you say so." You brought the cup to your lips and took a sip, the alcohol making you wince slightly. "It's pretty good."
"Good!" She grinned. "Well I'm going to go off and find Mike." She did a little wave, before disappearing into the sea of dancing teens. You gulped and took a long drink of the beverage. You never drank before, but you could tell you were already feeling the alcohol in you system.
“Fuck it.” You mutter to yourself before you downed the rest of your drink. You almost gagged at the alcohol but you kept it down. You sway on your feet but steadying yourself.
“Damn girl, you know how to pound one.” A male voice spoke. You jumped and saw Roman and his girlfriend. “I know I haven’t seen you around here at a party, but I’ve seen you with the Cullens.”
“Yeah, we aren’t really friends and Jasper is away.” You spoke, your words started to slur. “This is an awesome party.”
“Hah thanks. You know, my buddies and I are doing a little get together a day after tomorrow. You seem like a cool chick so you are invited.”
“Thanks!” You grinned and watched him and his girlfriend walk off. You grab another drink and take another before merging with the dancing crowd. You swayed your hips with your hands. You didn't care you were grinding on others. You slowly forgot all about Jasper and that was something you were thoroughly enjoying that.
--
Its been two months after that party.
Roman and his group always invited you to parties or just hang outs and you went to every single one. You started drinking more and took up to smoking cigarettes and marijuana when you went to those parties. It helped you forget about Jasper Hale. The alcohol and smoking made you feel good in the moments, and that was something you needed the most. The rest of the Cullen family were hardly at school due to the recent sunny weather. Bella always seemed to try and start and conversation but they always ended awkward.
You were at home alone. Both your parents were out on a marital vacation. You were more than ecstatic because that meant more drinking at home for you. You were sipping on whatever you were able to get your hands, whatever would make you forget for a night about the depression Jasper caused.
You were already drunk off your ass, but the alcohol wasn't taking away the thoughts. You grew angrier and angrier as his stupidly handsome face kept coming into your mind; his laugh, his smile, his sparkling skin. You just wanted all those memories gone!
You get up and wander into the kitchen, the neck of the bottle in your hand as you paced. You were impaired, not thinking straight when you screamed in anger and in pain.
"WHY JASPER?!" You screamed, tears streaming down your face. You look down at the bottle in your hand, piecing together in your drunken mind that this bottle of booze was causing these thoughts. With no hesitation, you slammed the bottle onto the kitchen floor; glass and liquor went everywhere. You collapsed to your knees, not fully aware of the glass shards imbedding themselves into your legs.
You felt dizzy, collapsing on your side as you stared at the cabinets.
"Why did you leave me alone...." You slurred, your vision darkening before you blacked out.

I wrote a thing
The following story was written for one of the assessments I had in my English class this year. The only semblance of a prompt was that it had to be post-apocalyptic. I play a lot of video games, watch a lot of anime, and was talking to one of my friends about a bunch of cute lolita dresses. In my head, I said “hey, people beating up monsters in dresses is fucking rad”
So I wrote a story about people in dresses beating up monsters (or, monster singular). I left it open to write more, but I have no idea where to go.
Either way, hit the keep reading to keep reading and read the actual story read read keep
“So, what’s the haul this time?”
A sack landed on a small table, letting out the sound of large amounts of crinkling plastic. The person who was previously holding the sack turned to answer.
“Chips, mostly. Some of those old candies, multiple types of beverages… We should be covered for a few days, at the very least.” They nodded to their friend, gesturing for them to rummage through the bag. The friend nodded, pushing past the person, making sure not to mess with the large dress that the friend was wearing.
The friend proceeded to dig through the bag, pulling out things like unopened Lay’s, a few cans of Mountain Dew, and even a singular bottle of Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Eventually, the friend yanked out a family bag of Doritos. “Holy merry mother of Doritos! You actually managed to find a large bag?!” The friend’s giddy expression spread across their face.
“Yeah, it wasn’t easy. Had to go a few kilometers deep into the EL zone to find that stuff. I was lucky nothing much came after me.” The person in the dress chucked. “Blood and white don’t exactly mix, y’know.”
“Yes, you’ve made me quite aware.” The friend paused, then turned to look at the other. “Actually, your dress is mostly some shade of dark blue, so it isn’t as bad as pure white.”
“The blouse isn’t blue, though.”
“Fair enough. Not like I’m one to complain; my dress eats blood stains like breakfast.”
“And Dorito stains?”
“Those stain orange. Now shut.”
The blue-dressed person sarcastically threw up their hands in defeat. “Alright, alright! I’ll stop.” They shuffled over and next to the friend, staring at the large bag. “We have to finish our other resources first, though. I don’t know if we have any bag clips left. Can’t risk these going bad.”
The red-dressed person looked disappointed, slowly putting all of the rummaged items back into the sack. After a few moments, they looked over to the blue-dressed person. “Actually, do you want to check our stock of bag cli--”
Their speaking was cut off by a large thudding noise nearby. The person in the blue dress held up their finger to signify “one moment, please”. They went over to the entrance and peeked outside for a moment, before jerking their head back in. “Rook, there’s an orc. A big one at that.”
Rook sighed. “What did we have, one day to ourselves this week? Pieris, grab your weapon and I’ll meet you out there.”
Pieris nodded, rushing over to a corner of their residence, digging through belongings before pulling out a (sheathed) katana. They rushed back to the entrance and quickly went outside. Rook, meanwhile, took a few moments to keep staring at the sack, before finally snapping to their senses and rummaging through the same pile of belongings, pulling out an (unsheathed) schiavona.
Rook pushed their way through the front flaps of the two’s shared tent, quickly moving to Pieris’s side. Before them stood a rather large orc, around five meters tall. Pieris had already drawn their katana, the sheath in the dirt near the tent.
“This is a new record, isn’t it?” Pieris took in the spectacle of the beast’s size.
Rook raised their sword into a ready position. “Yeah, the last one was around four meters, but at least that one didn’t have much mass; look at this behemoth!” The behemoth in question looked like a bodybuilder if orcs could bodybuild, having a muscular figure with tusks that almost reached its nose in height.
“Well, doesn’t that make our life that much easier,” Pieris grumbled, also getting into a ready position. “Not only can it whoop us to the dark depths; all of that muscle will make it hard to slice through, lest it isn’t all soft.”
“Well, then pray that it’s soft and get slicing!” On finishing their remark, Rook made a mad dash for the monster, making sure to keep the grip on their sword tight.
Pieris wanted to get the last word in, but just sighed and followed suit. They made a run for the orc, keeping a low position as Rook went for the torso.
The orc opened with a broad swing of its arm, which Rook swiftly dodged; they countered by flinging themself at the monster and slicing it across the arm, leaving a small gash. Pieris followed through, dashing at the orc from behind and making a swift slash at its calves. The rear attack left more wounds, orc blood beginning to spill from them. The orc shouted in a mix of pain and rage, flailing its arms in all directions.
Pieris and Rook quickly hopped away from the monster and back to each others’ sides, watching the behemoth flail wildly as the life drained through the holes in its body.
“Well, that last bit was telegraphed beyond belief,” Pieris remarked. “Doubt he’s done for; should we go back in?”
Rook shook their head. “Not yet. Let it tire out from the flailing first, unless you want a fist the size of a small table hitting you from any which way.”
“...Fair point.”
After a good thirty seconds or so, the orc did indeed stop flailing, taking a moment to rest. In that moment, the hunters flung themselves back at the orc. Pieris aimed at the monster’s uninjured arm, while Rook quite literally went for the throat. The orc had no time to retaliate before there was a katana in its arm and a gash in its throat. Both hunters hopped back again, Pieris making sure to twist their blade to inflict extra pain before retrieving it.
Rook and Pieris landed back beside each other a few meters away from the orc, Pieris muttering “stab and twist” in a sing-song tone. The orc didn’t last much longer, blood welling up from all of the holes and gashes in its body. The beast choked on its blood before toppling over with a SLAM, unconscious, and soon to be dead of either drowning or blood loss.
Waiting a couple of moments to make sure that the orc was fully unconscious, Rook and Pieris finally got to work. They zipped back into the tent, leaving their weapons inside and returning with a bunch of tools to harvest valuable parts of the orc to sell; parts such as the orc’s skin or tusks. Both of the hunters looked giddy as they worked; Pieris sawed away at the tusks while Rook attempted to skin the orc.
“Holy gods,” Rook idly remarked, “this one ought to be worth a lot! This skin is rather thick, I’m surprised we consistently cut it!”
“And to think we were worried about muscle!” Pieris vigilantly worked away at one of the tusks with a large bonesaw.
“You were worried about muscle.”
“Yes, for a valid reason.”
“...Even though you can easily cut most consistencies of muscle with a sword anyway, given enough effort?”
“Shut. Keep working on the skin.”
Work on the skin they did, until nightfall. By then, most of the skin had been removed from the orc; the tusks had been fully removed and sat off to the side, Pieris measuring them in all forms.
“Rook, I think this might be one of our better loots,” Pieris remarked, “not only are these things huge, but they’re basically pure bone!”
Rook stopped skinning the orc to look at Pieris, their expression apathetic but their eyes glimmering. “Magnificent. Do you have the records of the Guild’s greatest tusk measurements?”
“Why wouldn’t I? They’ve been with me the whole time I’ve been measuring these things.” Pieris picked up a worn-down binder labeled “Guild Records” and waved it around in the air. “We’re not beating them in many ways, but these tusks are much wider than the ones on record; about 15 centimeters wider.”
“Alright. One broken record is enough for me; let me finish skinning this and we can go drop them by the Guild and shove it in their faces.”
“Are you sure? Leaving our stuff alone at night seems like a bad idea.”
Rook paused to think for a moment. “Mmm… You’re right. We can wait until tomorrow. Go ahead and crate up the tusks.”
“On it!” Pieris set down the binder and began lugging the tusks behind the large tent they called home. Rook watched for a moment, before returning to skinning the orc.
After another hour, the orc was completely skinned. Rook brought the harvest behind the tent, putting it in a large crate along with the tusks, sealing the crate when they finished. They rounded back to the front of the tent, trudging inside. After a short chat with Pieris about the hunt and their night shifts, Rook laid down in a sleeping bag, Pieris standing guard outside of the tent.
Tomorrow, Rook thought, will be the day we finally one-up the Guild. I can’t wait to see that smug look wiped off of the commander’s face…
And, with those final thoughts, Rook drifted off to sleep, awaiting the day to come.
The story was kind of on the spot, so forgive me if things are boring or badly paced or a bit off.
If you were paying attention, you might’ve noticed that I didn’t gender either of the main characters. This isn’t some form of agenda. I just think that people in extravagant dresses beating up monsters is fucking rad and that anybody should be able to do it.
Below is the grade I got for the assignment, as well as the two dresses that the main characters were wearing, cuz why not.

Mr Reyes (Part 7 Final)
Reaper76 in which Gabriel is a hot Kindergarten teacher and Jack is a blushing mess of a dad to a young daughter.
Part 5    Part 6
With the arrival of a broken foot, Gabriel found that life became exceedingly difficulty. For the first couple of weeks he was unable to do a lot of basic activities by himself. Bathing was his only option because showering was impossible due to his lack of ability to stand for too long, and the stairs were a task multiplied by a thousand. That was how he found himself staying at Jack's place for a week or so, after struggling around his own house and screaming Jesse's ear off multiple times when the house was a mess, or the teenager accidentally knocked his foot with the vacuum. Jesse was exhausted after two weeks, and cried down the phone to Jack in order to get him to have Gabe at his own home, where he could be more looked after, at least for a long enough time so that Jesse could recover. Thus, Gabriel ended up dropped off at Jack's home, and huffed, grumbling for the first day about the temperature of the house and the food. Jack's pointed ignorance of him eventually led to a wavering peace, and soon, Gabriel found some enjoyment in being looked after and prodded by a small curious child. The soap operas on TV more than made up for the rapidly talking kid next to him.
Which, as it turned out, was what Hana was doing- talking his ear off. Hana sat down with her make-up bag, full of children's waxy make-up, and dirty brushes, that suspiciously looked like paint brushes. As she talked, she painted a doll's face, and Gabriel easily tuned her out, turning back to his crime drama and listening to the detectives findings about the case. Hopefully there was some gore soon so he could send her out of the room. As much as he loved her in the classroom, spending days with the kid was tiring. He couldn't understand how Jack managed. Hana sat idly for a while after painting the face of her doll, but was quickly becoming restless, and she began to fidget, before Gabriel sighed and turned his head towards her.
“What is it, Hana? Something is on your mind.” Gabirel raised an inquisitive eyebrow and offered a nice smile, “So long as it doesn't involve you painting my face we'll be good.”
Hana face fell a little as Gabriel laid down the law, but she pouted and pushed her fingers together,
“Its about you and Dad...”
“Come on kid, spit it out already, I don't bite, contrary to popular belief.” Gabriel chuckled and sipped his lemonade as he watched Hana's eyes widen.
“Well...Jesse said that you two...” She mumbled the second part and the Latino squinted before scowling.
“You'll have to speak up sweetie, my hearing isn't what it used to be.” He leant down close to Hana and waited for her to speak, being careful not to spill him lemonade.
Hana leant towards his ear and blushed a little, “Jesse said that you and Dad were playing rodeo off in the house and needed some private adult time to yourselves...what does that mean?” Hana looked up inquisitively and Gabriel chocked on his lemonade, spitting lemon juice all over the arm of the sofa as he struggled to breath correctly.
Jack came into the room at the sound of the chocking and quickly smacked Gabriel on the back to help get the lemonade out of his lungs. The blond eyed his daughter and then the red faced Latino before raising an eyebrow in questioning.
“Care to explain why you both look like two failed thieves?”
“Dad! What does 'playing rodeo' mean?” Gabriel failed to cover Hana's mouth before she spouted the words and he cringed as Jack grew red in the cheeks, his harsh glare turning on Gabriel, “Jesse said its what you and Gabe were doing last time you went out!”
Jack clenched his fist and pointed at Gabriel, “I'm gonna tan your son's hide when I see him next.” Gabriel held his hands up in surrender. Jack turned back to Hana and sighed, “Well sweetie its about
adults spending a special time together is all. Ignore what Jesse says in future.”
The young girl nodded and smiled before pointing to Gabriel with a small finger, “So what is Gabe to you then Dad? Are you boyfriends?” She grinned happily and clapped her hands together.
Jack coughed a little and eyed the girl suspiciously, taking a deep breath he nodded, “Yes sweetie, me and Gabe are boyfriends.”
Gabriel grinned at him, his eyes closed and a full smile of pearly white teeth, and ruffled Hana's hair fondly before carefully tugging her into a hug and offering an arm out for Jack. The blond huffed with a smile and leaned forwards before being wrapped in a strong arm and pulled into a hug.
“So Mr Reyes is my new mum then!” Hana giggled and patted Gabriel's facial hair before squirming to get into his lap. But, not before knocking the poor Latino's foot off the stool. Gabriel screamed as his foot smashed into the floor.
When Gabriel's foot finally healed, there was a promised performance he had to attend to. The band had long since been split up, it was after all, a phase that they all went through, and so Gabriel had some trouble tracking all of his old friends. Well, trouble for all except one. Amélie was by far the easiest to get hold of, well, purely by the fact that most people knew who the model was. This meant, however, that actually getting through to her agent and then to her was a nightmare. It took her three days to finally call him back and talk to him.
“Ah, Gabriel, I thought that you had forgotten who I was, mon ami. So, how is your life?” Gabriel could hear her filing her nails in the background of the call.
“Hm, about as good as any. I adopted a kid, and work as a Kindergarten teacher- truly the high life. You can't even say that's interesting considering the shit you get up to now. And to think it all started from a porn movie-” Gabriel chuckled as he painted his nails black, the phone pressed to his ear with his shoulder.
Amélie hissed down the speaker, “Va ta faire foutre, enculé. You dare speak of that to anyone and I will not hesitate to rip your balls off.” The filing stopped as the file was smacked down on a table next to her.
“Hey, calm yourself, I swore on my honour I wouldn't tell anyone when I was eighteen, and if I didn't tell anyone then, I sure as hell haven't got anyone to tell now...well...except my latest 'affair', so to speak.” The Latino placed his hands on top of the cushion he had in his lap.
Amélie grinned, tapping her file against the arm of her chair, “Oh si vous plait, please elaborate Gabriel.” She placed it down and took a sip of the expresso she had made moments before the call.
“Hmm, and why should I? Very inappropriate to talk about when I have something to ask of you.” He heard the French woman curse and sigh before she hummed, “Whatever it is, I will do it in exchange for the, how you say, gossip.”
Gabriel grinned, “Pack your bags Amélie, your coming to a band reunion.”
Jack and Ana rarely got the time to sit over tea anymore, and now that they had the opportunity, Jack found that his old friend was increasingly nosy about his and Gabriel's relationship. Ana poured the tea from her delicate, painted tea pot, into the cups and turned the handle towards the blond with a gentle smile, one that had a hidden intent.
“So, Jack, how is it going with Gabriel then? It seems you two are particularly happy now, hm?” She looked at him over the top of her tea cup and sipped at the hot drink, resting her head on her hand.
Jack rolled his eyes, “There really isn't much to tell, Ana. What about your trip to Egypt? You're finally taking Fareeha to meet her grandparents right?” He took a drink of his own beverage, and cradled the warm cup between his palms.
“Don't change the subject Jack, but yes I am. They struggle to travel now, so it seems fair that we all go to see them.” The brunette shrugged and fixed him with a smirk and a raised eyebrow, “Are you and Gabriel going to move in together yet?”
The blond hadn't been expecting the question so suddenly, and flushed a little, hiding his face by taking another drink of his tea.
“Come on Jack! You two have been together for, what? About three or four months now? Isn't it about time you took the initiative for once?” The Egyptian woman snickered and took a spoon of honey before spreading it on a slice of bread she had laid out for snacks.
“Look, I don't know Ana. Wouldn't that seem like I was coming on a bit strong? You know the next thing he'll be expecting is a marriage proposal...” Jack blundered and babbled his way through the sentence.
Ana raised her eyebrows at his state, “Jesus christ habibi, you actually really love this one, don't you?” Her eyes glittered with wonder, knowing the years Jack spent fearing the thought of a relationship, whittling his way through girl and boy after one another. It was all just a quick lay back then, and he'd paid for it, but he finally deserved to be happy, god knows he'd sacrificed enough already trying to raise a little girl by himself.
Jack's flushed face said it all, “Yeah. I actually really love him Ana. And...I don't wanna fuck it up like I did, god, so many other times. Gabriel is better than that ya know?” He fiddled with the handle of his cup, tapping the pot against his nails nervously, unsettled in the situation. Dark eyes scanned him for a moment, and Ana quickly snorted, crossing her arms with a sneer.
“Really Jack? You think you're really going to fuck up? You love him for Christ's sake! Just tell him that! Asking him to move in with you is the next logical step in your relationship, idiot. Now I suggest you go home and think about it. Have a bath and a good long ponder.” And with that, she tossed him from her house, with a pecan muffin for good measure, and bid him to think on what she had said.
As it turned out, there were many competitions, be them band or talent competitions, going on in their area during the next couple of weeks, and according to his plan, Gabriel had invited Jack to go and watch the very one he was set up to be in. The band members had been more than happy to meet Gabriel over a period of four weeks to practice a few of their old songs and covers, all of them, including Amélie, falling back into synchrony easily. It was as though they hadn't been apart, and the music flowed from their fingertips like water along a rock surface. Gabriel had bribed them all into the contest with the dangling prize money, and the promise of gossip and booze afterwards. Amélie was particularly overjoyed at the prospect of gossip, stroking her fingers over her synth-keyboard with renewed vigour, the haunting, ghostly, melodies following her movements. Now he just had to semi stand Jack up. He sent Jack a text, telling the blond he'd meet him in their seats, and hoped Jack would stick around long enough to see their act.
The theatre was packed by the time Jack finally made it away from Hana, and managed to pry the little girl off his leg, and hand her to the babysitter. Dressed in a smart polo and jeans, he grabbed some snacks on his way through as he got his ticket checked. Suprisingly, Gabriel wasn't in his seat, and Jack scowled, but told himself not to panic. Perhaps there was just traffic, or maybe Jesse had blown up the oven again? Chuckling to himself, Jack sat down, and settled in his seat. He was sure Gabriel would show. The show began rather slowly, a few comedians and acting sketches to open, but picked up a little with a few singers- Jack was particularly moved by the young girl who sang a light pop song. Still, Gabriel was a no show, and the blond's mind began to whir.
That was until the theatre hall was sent into pitch blackness. A few teenagers screamed at the sudden power outage, and Jack snorted, rolling his eyes as he looked forwards, watching a band name fade in on the large projector screen. Red lights flickered to life to reveal five figures stood on stage, though the light didn't help Jack make anything out other than height. Thunder crashed over the speakers and the red lights flashed dangerously before bleeding to white spotlights. Centre stage stood a singer, draped in a black cloak, knee high leather military boots laced tight, skin tight under shirt and a pair black leather bottoms wrapping tight around the figure's thighs. Three belts were draped around his waist, one jingling against a spiked thigh wrap with a strange emblem. Clawed hands swooped out towards the microphone and glinted dangerously in the light. The person leant forwards into the light to reveal a white scratched mask, almost resembling a twisted bird of prey.
Jack swallowed thickly as the purple dressed woman at the back, spider eyes covering her head and legs sticking out of her back eerily, ran her hands along the keyboard in a flurry of melodious haunting notes. A guitar soon followed and strummed the tune, followed by the second at a deeper timbre. Jack almost swooned when a dark chocolate voice hummed over the speakers, singing sinfully deep with words of apocalypse. The drummer tapped out a crescendo of hi-hat before crashing into the main song, and the bass player kicked into gear, taking over the rumbling beat of the tune with a flourish. The guitars wailed once before the chorus and the synth player kicked her volume up, providing the lilting melody for the singer to accompany.
The singer rolled his hips, once, twice and Jack felt his mouth go dry as clawed hands reached upwards with the ripples of his body. Eventually, he pulled the hood down, revealing darkened curls, which spilled around his shoulders. Entranced, Jack hoped the mask would come next, but the deep rumbling howl caught him off-guard, and he watched the stage descend into a litany of flashing red and white lights, and a smoke machine poured smoke across the floor as the singer weaved words about the hangman's noose following him through the woods. The chorus screeched into action again and the singer grabbed the microphone stand before whipping his hair down and up in a flourish, almost screaming the words with the amount of passion.
Once more a verse picked up and Jack shifted in his seat as the singer meandered over to the right side of the stage, where Jack was sat in front of. The thighs of the singer contracted powerfully as he smoothed over into the deep rumbling timbre again, and Jack felt himself melting a little. What he did not expect was the singer to lean down in front of him and ease the white mask up over his face gracefully, purposely slow. Gabriel's grinning face met his, and Jack's jaw instantly dropped. He flushed red before repeatedly cursing the Latino in his head. Gabriel reached over with a silver claw and pressed the metal tip under Jack's chin, shutting the blond's mouth. The black and red eyes creased at the edges, and Jack grinned stupidly as Gabriel winked at him, swiftly moving into the next verse, groping at his own hair again with a grin. Jack flushed as girls next to him giggled, but smiled warmly- this was all for him.
After the show, Jack was sure to muscle his way into the back stage and find the band's small make-up area. He made it to the sectioned off area, just as  Amélie was leaving.
“Hmm, Gabriel, it seems your little dove has come to play with you. Au revoir, talk to you later!” She smiled and walked away, flicking her purple pony tail over her shoulder as she left. Jack snorted and peered around the divider to see Gabriel pulling out the contacts from his eyes. Once he'd finished, he turned around just in time to catch Jack in his arms. What he didn't expect was a punch to the face.
“AH! FUCK!” Gabriel clutched his cheek in pain with a shriek.
“You asshole! I thought you'd stood me up like some high school teen drama!” Jack fumed for another moment or two, and finally, took a deep breath.
Gabriel looked at him with wet eyes, his hand falling from his cheek, “Did you not like my surprise, cariño?” He tucked some curls behind his ears and Jack sighed, his head falling forwards onto Gabriel's shoulder in defeat.
“No, Gabe, it was amazing. God...” He clutched the Latino's shoulders, “God I love you.” and sniffled, tears streaking his cheeks, “God I love you so much, Gabe. Please, don't do that again.”
Gabriel gently stroked a hand through Jack's hair, his other arm wrapped around the blond's waist, “Shh. I love you too, mi sol, my everything.” Gabriel whispered it reverently, and smiled, nuzzling Jack's neck.
“Move in with me Gabe.” Now Gabriel hadn't been expecting that one. Jack's blue eyes were determined, and he smiled before rubbing the back of his neck, “Too soon?”
“Mmmm, never with you darling. But, I suppose we could give it a go.” Gabriel chuckled into Jack's ear before leaning back around and capturing Jack's lips in a heavy kiss. They stayed that way for several moments, sharing their passion.
“Now let me get this leather off so we can go home.”
“Keep it on babe.” Jack immediately regretted the words, and was subjected to torturous teasing for the next week as a result. He damned Gabriel and his thighs to the ends of the Earth.

The Sprudge Coffee Guide To Sacramento
Sacramento, California is known by many names, both beloved and hated. It’s the state capital, the city of trees/allergies, Sacto, home of Lady Bird and—if you really want to get underneath a Sacramento local’s skin—call it a cowtown. Though, good luck finding any actual cows here. Just under 100 miles northeast of San Francisco, Sacramento is an easy jaunt for those wishing to explore the capital and soak in some history. One thing locals agree on these days is that Sacramento is a great town for coffee. There’s something for everyone. Here are a few must-stop-shops to get you caffeinated while you take in the sights of the capital.
<span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”></span>

Temple Coffee
Opened in 2005, Temple Coffee is a pioneer of the local coffee scene. Owned and operated by Sean Kohmescher, Temple Coffee found its niche quickly among locals and visitors alike. While you’re almost guaranteed to wait in line at one of their five locations (and counting) around Sacramento and Davis—don’t let this deter you—efficient baristas greet you almost instantly behind shiny La Marzoccos. Next to the register, you’ll be tempted by a dazzling pastry case and a wall of enticing teas.
Whether you prefer one of their single-origin espresso shots or a pour-over, the K St location is a must-visit to check out their famous penny floors, and for their popular Dessert Program, which features specialty desserts such as cakes, tarts, and cheesecakes, all from local bakeries. For vegan and gluten-free fans, this menu will not disappoint.
Temple Coffee is nothing if not laser-focused on education, quality control, and maintaining its approachable, friendly-neighborhood-shop atmosphere, including free weekly public coffee tastings.
Temple Coffee Roasters has multiple locations around Sacramento. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Chocolate Fish
Andy and Edie Baker opened Chocolate Fish downtown in 2008, inspired by the espresso culture in their native New Zealand. After moving to Sacramento, they knew they wanted to have a shop that celebrated their Kiwi culture—and even named their shop after a fish-shaped treat indigenous to New Zealand that is given out as a “thank you” for a good deed (you may also “catch” your own at the shop). The couple now operate three shops, each a a haven for those that appreciate their coffee with a nice, dog-friendly patio. Unlike most cafes in the grid, you’ll rarely see a gaggle of computer-tapping students here. In fact, there is no free WiFi, to encourage conversation rather than work.
The East Sac location on Folsom and 48th is where Chocolate Fish roasts coffee, with a meticulously-designed floorplan that allows patrons to watch roasting in action. Besides a full menu of award-winning coffees, the must-try item here is their nitro flash brew, which they pioneered and perfected in 2014. Many shops have tried to match the quality of this rich brew, but the nitro at Chocolate Fish remains the supreme summer drink for locals.

  The Mill
Since opening The Mill on I St in 2014, Nicholas & Ilah Rose Cookston-Minton have created one of the most unique shops in town—and I’ll say it began the minute they cranked up the waffle iron with a homemade liège-style yeasted batter so sweet you can smell it down the block. Their flagship cafe is conveniently located within walking distance of the lavender district on J St, which is a weekend destination for hitting the Saturday farmers market and street festivals.
The Mill roasts its own beans under the brand Bouquet, which are worth purchasing if only to have the beautifully-designed bag grace your countertop (the coffee is consistently stellar, as well). Like their bag designs, The Mill’s interior is stunning and graceful, with hand-designed arrangements so lovely you’d think that animated Disney woodland critters decorated it when no one was looking. Likewise, their new East Sac location off Elvas Avenue promises much of the same cozy atmosphere.
The Mill’s playful seasonal menus keep everyone curious and begging for one more dose of a seasonal drink or jam before gearing up for what’s next. During the summer, look for the Wildwood flower latte or the Root Beer Espresso Float, or one of their signature beverages that highlight the delicious magic of herbs and roots in each house-made syrup—truly bringing the bouquet to the cafe.

Camellia Coffee Roasters
When business partners Robert Watson and Ryan Harden opened the doors of Camellia in 2018 in the WAL Public Market on bustling R Street, they were on a mission—to serve great cups of coffee and specialty pastries to the close-knit community of the newly hip R St corridor. Their coffee is stellar, but the food (all made in-house) is unlike any other coffee shop in town: it’s all about the pie.
Snag a hand pie filled with sweet or savory fillings, like apple, soyrizo with queso and hashbrowns, or broccoli with ham and cheddar. Or opt for a breakfast sandwich, which are super-stacked egg sandwiches with cheese, green onions, and veggies, bacon or sausage on a brioche bun with Cholula mayo (or a secret house-made hot sauce.)
Aside from their breakfast options, Camellia is a great stop if you want to see the growth of Sacramento in action: the open-market floorplan is full of local boutiques that will keep you busy for hours after the caffeine hits. During summer months, there are often street fairs and the hustle-bustle of locals that are happy to celebrate the end of the rainy season.

Old Soul
Since 2006, Old Soul has been a tried-and-true favorite of locals before “coffee snob” was a badge worn with honor. Owners Jason Griest and Tim Jordan were just a couple of guys roasting coffee in an alley (now a hugely popular area known as the Handle District), and little did they know what was in store for their humble shop.
Griest and Jordan set out to create a business where they would “make it ourselves and if we don’t, we’ll know who does,” Griest says. A deram actualized, Old Soul produces all its food (you’ll find a very generous breakfast and lunch/dinner menu) in-house and partners with various farmers around Sacramento Valley to ensure all products are fresh. Each of the three locations are very cozy, inviting, and serve as locals go-to spots for small meetings or dates.
Be sure to check out their seasonal menu with gems such as the Lavender Lemonade, and in the fall you will “fall” for the Mandarin Masaya, made with homemade cascara simple syrup and the local favorite, Ginger Elizabeth Chocolate.

Identity Coffee
Located just on the edge of midtown on 28th& O St, Identity immediately welcomes you with a sandwich-board sign stating “Hella Open Right Now,” which leads your eyes to the friendly exterior tucked away behind palm trees.
Inside, the spacious open-concept floorplan is a rare find in the grid—with custom tables and a bar designed and handcrafted by one of the owners, Lucky Rodrigues, who (along with his business partner, Ryan Rake), wanted the space to have a minimalist vibe by utilizing local, fell trees. Step on up and order a medium-roast pour-over, and delight in drinking your beverage in a vintage mug (barista’s choice). Compliment your coffee with a locally-sourced pastry, bagel, or quiche. Head over to the Westside location (near the I St bridge) for heartier breakfast burritos, vegan waffles, and sandwiches with kettle chip nachos.
Identity Coffee has multiple locations around Sacramento. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
  Oblivion Comics and Coffee
Inspired by the pocket universe inside DC Comics called the Oblivion Bar (a neutral zone where heroes and villains alike peacefully coexist), Oblivion Comics and Coffee has created its own peaceful world a stone’s throw from the Capitol building, right off K Street and 11th. The goal of Oblivion is to provide a safe, diverse, and welcoming place for everyone, and promotes acceptance, imagination, and creativity—all over an amazing cup of coffee.
Since opening shop in 2017, owners Laura Benson and Neil Estaris have indeed created the dream scenario for self-appointed comic and coffee geeks in the Sacramento area; utilizing Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters coffee and local bakeries for their pastry and quirky toast options, Oblivion knows as much about how to maneuver their way around an espresso machine as they could help you find your next favorite comic, which can be found right around the corner after picking up your Latte of Truth. They’ll even dust a comic-related stencil on top of your drink.
Oblivion has a jam-packed events calendar and regularly hosts open mic nights, trivia nights (sometimes Jeopardy-style), and educational Cosplay Crash Courses. After you’ve had your Thunderer’s Brew and Edible Hulk toast, the spoils of the vibrant downtown/K Street adventures await you.
Oblivion Comics and Coffee is located at 1020 11th St, Sacramento. Visit their official website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Following your passion requires vision, commitment, persistence, and long hours. October challenges your vision and commitment because it brings shorter days, midterms,  the distractions of a looming Holiday Season, and the time crunch to meet End of the Year company objectives. This month, we review an energy drink-in-disguise designed to “complement your work hard/play hard lifestyle” with green coffee beans, monk fruit, erythritol, and coconut water.
The Energy Drink of the Month for October is Clean Energy Organics
Tumblr media
There are four flavors available at the time of this review. Lavender Lemonade is my favorite (and not just because I’m a sucker for puns and alliterations).
Who is This For – Ingredient Preferences and Phobias
Is this drink for you? What ingredients do you look for (or try to avoid) in an energy drink?
Low Calorie, low sugar
Sweetened by cane sugar and also monk fruit and erythritol
Non-GMO
Vegan
Gluten Free
Kosher
BPA Free (referring to the plastic bottle)
NO stereotypical energy drink ingredients (such as taurine, carnitine, glucuronolactone, and guarana)
NO vitamin fortification
NO Stevia – some people get a bitter-metallic aftertaste with this natural sweetener
NO artificial colors or flavors – the flavor is natural and the color comes from fruit and vegetable juices
Key Ingredients
Caffeine from Green Coffee Beans
Green coffee beans are regular coffee beans that are spared the roasting. The caffeine is extracted without having to roast the beans, which means they do not give that typical roasted coffee bean flavor. Green coffee beans are a natural source of caffeine that gives a beverage a different taste than beverages with caffeine from green tea extract or guayusa. Once it’s in your body, caffeine is caffeine is caffeine. It won’t kick in any faster or give you a weaker or stronger buzz than the same amount of caffeine from another source. One of the benefits of getting caffeine from a natural source is that there are often other molecules (such as antioxidants and phytonutrients) that come with the caffeine when it’s extracted. It’s like getting a diamond ring versus getting a diamond ring in a Tiffany’s bag. Sometimes the package makes it that much more special.
If niacin is my favorite B-vitamin then monk fruit is my favorite sweetener.
Monk Fruit
If niacin is my favorite B-vitamin then monk fruit is my favorite sweetener. It’s a natural sweetener extracted from Luo Han Guo. The molecule responsible for the sweetness is “mogroside V”, and many Luo Han Guo extracts provide ~50% mogroside V. (Can you guess what the other ~50% is? Yummy, tangy monk fruit particles!)
Erythritol
Pronounced “irr-ith-rit-all”, erythritol a natural alternative sweetener like monk fruit and stevia. Except erythritol is is even better than stevia because stevia gives many people a bitter metallic aftertaste. Instead of a bitter taste, erythritol and other sugar-alcohols impart a “cooling sensation” in the mouth.
Erythritol is 60-70% as sweet as sucrose (table sugar) and has a very similar taste profile. While it’s non-caloric, it has a molecular size that gives it more mouthfeel. Think fruit juice versus fruit smoothie: the fruit smoothie has a heavier “mouthfeel”. If you remove sugar from a drink, it can make the drink feel very thin and watery, so using something like erythritol can help give the liquid more body.
Erythritol occurs naturally, like monk fruit and stevia, but it’s made through natural fermentation. It’s a sugar-alcohol, like the Xylitol often used in sugar-free gum. With xylitol, however, too much of it can really upset a person’s stomach. With erythritol, a person could consume twice as much – at least 0.66 grams per kilogram of body weight – before they started getting same stomach issues.
Another benefit to erythritol is that it has been shown in some studies to reduce the risk of cavities or “dental caries”. Dental caries are a huge complaint against Sugar-Sweetened Beverages. Replacing that sugar with something tooth-friendly like erythritol is a win-win!
Reference: clinical trial indicates erythritol’s superior dental benefits
While tasting Stevia extracts can be considered a form of hazing (see “The Linger – A Food Science Horror Story”), tasting monk fruit extracts is like tasting home recipes for pina colada. There’s something about monk fruit that makes it taste…tropical.
Coconut Water
Coconut water can help improve hydration by providing electrolytes like potassium. If the Fall season has you sneezing and coughing, you might find yourself more dehydrated than you realize. It’s harder to stay hydrated when it’s cold outside, but hydration is just as important in the Fall and Winter as it is in the Summer and Spring.
Citric Acid, Tripotassium Citrate, and Gum Acacia
These “other ingredients” don’t have a giant role in this product, but that’s not to say they’re not important. Citric acid and tripotassium citrate can also contribute to the “tanginess” of a drink while controlling the pH (acidity) to prevent spoilage microorganisms from growing in the product. The gum acacia helps with the thickness of the drink, making a liquid solution of all these different ingredients taste like one homogenous, smooth beverage.
When to Consume – The 5 Levels of Fatigue
An energy drink is like your favorite song: what works for YOU may not work for ME, and what works for you on a Monday morning may not be your Go-To for Friday nights.
The 5 Levels of Fatigue is a system I developed to help people pick a drink which matches their situation. This system categorizes products using factors like juice content, carbonation, delivery method, and caffeine content. This system beats caffeine tolerance and dependence. This system prevents people from using caffeine when they’re really just tired from dehydration. This system helps people consume caffeine safely.
Since these drinks have 80 mg caffeine per bottle, this drink is suitable for FATIGUE LEVEL 2. That is when you know you’re not just tired because you’re dehydrated, but you also know you don’t need a super-strong caffeine drink. You want to save those highly caffeinated drinks for when you ABSOLUTELY NEED THEM. A super-strong caffeine drink is one you only want in rare cases of energy emergencies like all-nighters and double-shifts. A Fatigue Level 2 drink like CEO is something you can drink multiple times a week.
For comparison, you can view all the other Fatigue Level 2 beverages I’ve reviewed here
Bottom Line
If you’re constantly pushing yourself to your limits – whether it’s in the gym or with your “side hustle” – you want an energy drink that won’t damage your diet or put you at risk of caffeine overload. CEO is a terrific tasting energy drink with a great blend of Organic ingredients.

Pinnacle Ten Suggestions For a Wedding Ceremony And Reception
New Post has been published on https://giveuselife.org/pinnacle-ten-suggestions-for-a-wedding-ceremony-and-reception/
Pinnacle Ten Suggestions For a Wedding Ceremony And Reception
1. Where to start planning: Price range, Visitor list, Wedding ceremony and Reception website. In that order. And when it comes to your Budget, be realistic. How much do you have right now? How a great deal are you able to fairly save every month to position closer to the marriage? It is authentic that you’re going to want to pay deposits on a variety of objects, however, the complete quantity could be due as you get toward the wedding. But finally, you will have to pay it!
Once you have your Budget, reserve 50% of it for the reception, proper away. No ifs, and’s or buts. That includes food and beverage, leases, and some other site charges. In case you’re able to save money somewhere down the manner, it’s exceptional, However, do not expect it inside the starting.
What I usually tell my couples is that the alternative 50% gets divided similarly between clothes, plant life, images and music, invitations and favors, and your rite, if It’s in a separate region out of your reception. Pay a bit much less for some of those things, and you can pay a touch greater for others. That second 50% is Where you may locate wiggle room.
Then directly to the Guest listing. There is your listing, your fiancé’s list, and lists from both of your households. Consider featuring good sized others. And do not think – “eh, It’s in all likelihood going to be approximately a hundred human beings.” Take a seat down and write it out. And, sure, consist of the human beings you think might not be capable of making it. In this example, an invitation does remember.
And now that you recognize how an awful lot you have got, and what number of human beings you need to accommodate, you could properly start to figure out Where you can have it.
2. It is your Wedding, you could do something you need. In other phrases, do not immediately write off anything you actually need to do because it’s non-conventional, or seems like it’ll be not possible to pull off. each different couple asks me if they could do such and such, and is that k? Of path It is k. It’s your Wedding. Traditions are traditions, now not regulations. Do what you need. It is the private touches that make each Wedding ceremony unique. In no way shy away from the non-public touches. Multiple years in the past, I coordinated a marriage Where the bride and groom served the pie with ice cream, as opposed to cake. They knew it was what they desired However thought it might be a bit bizarre for his or her visitors. I advised that before the pie become served, that they provide a thanks toast to everybody and kind of introduce the pie as nicely. It labored – made them experience higher, let their guests understand what become taking place, and everybody turned into happy.
If you can not discern out the way to do something, ask your carriers. Your Wedding and reception web page are usually precise assets or your Wedding ceremony planner, In case you need it, you can have it. You simply need to figure out what it’ll take to get it.
3. 4 maximum possibly locations In which you may keep money in La: invites. Garb. Cake. ceremony and Reception for wedding  websites. I recognize that closing one is a marvel. However there a variety of county and country owned locations, together with parks, historic homes, seashores, that you can reserve for a great deal much less than a restaurant or traditional Wedding venue.
you could get invitations online highly affordably, But make certain to get samples before you buy. There are also kits you could get so you can make them yourself at domestic, which usually variety from $25-40 according to 50, and include the whole thing, consisting of RSVP cards. As far as your Wedding ceremony get dressed, there are Multiple places within the valley that I might propose (e-mail me), There may be David’s Bridals, you could lease your dress In case you truely don’t care approximately retaining it, or buy pre-owned clothes from locations like Encore Bridal. And, of the route, There’s continually buy, or different Wedding ceremony auction sites consisting of bridetobrideboutique.Com. I recognize a whole lot of human beings pull away from on-line web sites, however, the first rule is to realize what you’re buying. discover it in a shop, an attempt on your length, after which see if you can find it cheaper on line. do not be afraid to invite the vendor lots of questions. As for tuxedos, you get reductions at any of the ordinary chains If you purchase in bulk, and If you hit a bridal show, maximum probable you may be able to pick up a chit or for even greater of a discount.
And, oh, I recognize A couple of places In which you can get a marriage cake beginning at 3 dollars a slice. e mail me.
4. Consider the climate. Mainly, of the path, If you’re having an outside Wedding. I grew up in Southern California so I understand that it rains so little right here, that we generally tend to forget that it rains in any respect – we get one tough rain a yr, and houses collapse off hillsides, and anyone forgets the way to power, and we go searching for our umbrellas in the lower back of the closet. And As soon as it stops, we head again to the beach. However, almost speak, it rains while the seasons change. So, March/April, from time to time May additionally, September/October, late November/early December There may be an amazing threat it’ll pour. Have a contingency plan, whether or not It’s an indoor area you may pass the whole lot into, a tent to cowl the marriage web site, stuff like that.
Even without rain, there are other matters you are going to must address. June is heating But frequently overcast into midday. Summer time afternoon weddings are going to be hot, so make sure that There is lots of shade. (Especially over your cake. Frosting melts. Badly.) One in every of my brides went downtown and acquired a gaggle of paper machine parasols for her visitors, all in specific shades and designs. So, she killed three birds with one stone – preserve her guests at ease, delivered a unique and colorful contact to the day, and offer very cool Wedding favors. They have been quite and pretty reasonably-priced, too.
Additionally, remember the fact that the temperature drops Once the solar are going down. phrases: Mushroom Warmers.
5. What you’ve got in your kitchen is what you’ll want at your out of doors reception. a number of the time, when you’re renting an inexpensive outdoor website, you have to deliver the whole lot in. And if want a listing of what the whole lot is, take a go searching your kitchen. Silverware, plates, cups and glasses. You’ve in all likelihood got bowls, so Reflect consideration on whether or not you’re going to need any. Napkins. Also, keep in thoughts for stuff like that, you want to reserve 10-15% more than your wide variety of visitors, But test with your caterer on what they experience cozy with. Pitchers for water or lemonade (or sangria. Or margaritas). Salt and pepper shakers and some thing for sugar. Serving utensils. Are you going to want to herald an oven or stove? Are you going to need refrigeration or a few manner to keep things cool, like ice? Is there a sink? And trash cans, Do not forget the trash cans. Get big ones. And trash luggage.
After you discern out what you need, see what’s already to be had at your site without cost, in order to cut your condo costs. If you’re now not certain Where to discover the whole lot else, ask for an advice. Another suitable location for condominium suggestions could be your caterer. They might have what you want or be capable of the point you inside the right route. I have a apartment enterprise that I suggest to my couples because they provide them a discount, so odds are your caterer could have something like that as nicely. And, most importantly, attempt to personally check out the entirety ahead.
6. Pay attention to your carriers. In the event that they inform you they want x amount of time to perform their paintings, or x quantity of area, trust it and give it to them. In the event that they let you know they need certain materials, make sure they have them. In return, if some thing they request isn’t feasible, for anything purpose, tell them, so that you can parent out an opportunity as soon as possible. Same goes if It’s something that you want, that they can not or may not do. There’s constantly a plausible alternative. Oh, and Do not forget to feed all of them.
7. It’s far higher to have and not want, than to want and no longer have. That 15% greater that I referred to in advance? It may sound like plenty, But silverware receives dropped on the floor, plates smash. higher to have a tent reserved and now not want it. Etc. You get the image.
8. make sure There’s plenty of set-up time, and a plan. My recommendation is to have your Wedding and reception website online available as a minimum 2-three hours beforehand. It sounds like loads, But think of it this way: you have got area cards, which although they may be alphabetized nevertheless need to be arranged. Tables and chairs May also want to be set-up. you have location settings and centerpieces and favors and different decorations. You may want to installation your song, whatever that may be. Only a caution – some locations will most effective provide you with an hour. If so, make sure that every one your carriers are aware, ensure you have got lots of help, either from buddies or own family, and ask in case your website online’s team of workers can pitch in.
9. Have a ruin-down plan, too. How a great deal time have to procure to get out? Who’s cleaning up? What needs to be cleaned up? whilst are the leases being picked up? Who’s taking the presents? What are you doing with the more favors? The more meals? an awful lot better to figure this all out beforehand, now not as you are approximately to get into your limo.
10. do not anticipate that something’s going to be available or possible if you have not been informed so. Significantly, this is Where a number of human beings get tripped up. don’t count on you can use the trash cans inside the park. Ask. don’t anticipate you may take pictures anywhere you want. Ask. don’t expect that your DJ goes to deliver a microphone for announcements and toasts. do not assume your apartment enterprise is going to assist set-up all of your tables and chairs, or wreck them down afterwards. don’t anticipate your photographer goes to stay an additional hour because everything is jogging late. do not assume. take a look at your settlement and ask. It will keep away from a variety of surprises and quite a few tough feelings.
And here’s an extra tip:
On the End of the Day, you’re Married. As you can see, weddings may be quite a few work! But recall, when you’re in a tizzy about getting the proper envelopes for your invites or a few such component – On the Stop of the day, you’ll be married to the only man or woman you want to spend the relaxation of your life with. AND, It is an exceptional opportunity to get all of your pals and own family in a single room, and whether or now not that is always an amazing aspect in all instances, It’s a pretty rare incidence, which is likewise pretty cool.
I inspire all of my couples to take a deep breath for the duration of the reception and look around at all of the people giggling, talking, and taking part in the song and food. It is all there for you. No matter what occurs, you recognize which you’ve performed the satisfactory you can to create an extraordinary day. And It’s far a superb day. Revel in it!
