#diluc: I want to fight!

Diluc comes across a portal that traps him in an AU where Mondstadt continued to keep their monarchy, and in that world, he is apparently the prince and next in line for the throne.

And YAY Crepus is alive as their king, but the next person to tell Diluc that he needed to sit up straight and use the correct utensils instead of whatever he felt like, he will start stabbing them with one of the 3 knives on the dinner table.

(it was Kaeya, and he didn't have the heart to stab him, so he's back to moping and planning a way to go back home)

it's ironic that accounts saying they "block klk shippers" and "don't want to interact with proshippers" can always find something to say in my posts/reblogs. while I, a kaeluc shipper, personally have the "ragbros" tag blocked because I do not want to accidentally share something with a romantic context in mind, in case op is uncomfortable with that.

because I know how to put my own, as well as respect other's, boundaries in online spaces.

As a fun exercise, I went over all the standard banner characters and attempted to think of actual in-universe reasons for each of them to be featured in this group and make us lose the 50/50 by randomly spawning.

Turns out it's quite wholesome!

Jean

Well, for starters, she probably feels a deep sense of gratitude for the Traveler's help with Stormterror, and still thinks they deserve more than just a few posters for their sibling (especially since the knights were already going to do that anyway). Also, she probably stays up at night (not that she actually even sleeps, she's just stressing while doing paperwork) thinking about how Traveler doesn't have a roof over their head, and is traversing a completely unfamiliar world with only Paimon by his side, "What if they get hurt? Can they even heal themselves?"

We get a 50/50 when the worry gets the best of her.

Diluc

Similarly to Jean, he's also worried about the Traveler's well-being and would like to repay them for their help with Stormterror and the Darknight Hero's Alibi. Also he's extremely invested in the Traveler's quest to find their twin.

And he KNOWS the Traveler is going to end up fighting most harbingers, so he's looking for a rematch, and maybe even a chance to punch whoever decided to leave a kid in a foreign land to act as a spy, in the rain, I might add.

His chances of coming home tend to increase whenever he realizes we're befriending the Fatui (I literally lost the 50/50 to him for the first time during Lyney's banner lol).

Mona

She was practicing hydromancy when she foresaw the Traveler was about to suffer a great loss. Despite knowing she can't change the future, she wanted to at least be there for them, maybe try to shield them from the worst of it.

The "loss" she foresaw was the 50/50, thus creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

She's also low on mora and wanted to help out with a few comissions or ley lines.

Qiqi

She once heard Dr. Baizhu go on an hour-long rant about how the Traveler has no regard for their well-being (Chansheng: Pot, meet kettle), stressing over the Traveler potentially dying a gruesome death with their allies being none the wiser, be it from an enemy or simply a disease left unchecked. The fact that they're outlanders who may not have developed immunity for most of Teyvat's illnesses is another concern of his.

Qiqi then wrote a reminder to check up on the Traveler's health, especially since Baizhu couldn't leave the Pharmacy for that long.

There's also an additional note about how the Traveler is always collecting herbs and other olants, so if she can't find any Violetgrass or Qingxin, chances are the Traveler took them all.

She comes to visit whenever she checks the notes and remembers. Hence the high rate of Qiqis.

Keqing

After witnessing the Traveler being 5 hours late for an important meeting because they got sidetracked with quests, seelies and treasure, she deemed it unacceptable and vowed to set them straight as soon as possible. There'll be no procrastination on her watch.

(Also she wants to repay them for saving Liyue, deciding that the posters weren't enough compensation for everything they went through).

Tighnari

He found out the Traveler is worse than Cyno at taking care of themselves and decided to take matters into his own hands.

His methods range from providing medicine and helping out with traversing the rainforest and other difficult environments to simply anihilating the enemies before they have a chance to land a hit.

He may also appear if he thinks the Traveler is getting Cyno's sense of humor.

Dehya

Like the others, she's also worried for the Traveler and wants to help them out on their journey to find their sibling. She's also completely aware that people are scamming the Traveler for commissions and would like to have a small chat with those scammers. Preferably with her fists.

Also, imagine seeing your friend off to a new region and then not even two weeks later there's news about them being arrested, and a gigantic flood. She's CONCERNED.

it's entirely possible childe and diluc have met in canon. childe joined the fatui real early and diluc was wandering around having his revenge arc until maybe a year ago. childe wasn't involved with delusion production afaik but diluc's notoriety among the fatui would have made him an attractive target for childe. if they were in the same area, they both would have gone after each other's throats. given that childe has both a vision and a delusion, AND his fun demon form, and diluc was running around visionless, childe would have either overpowered him… or made it an even fight by promising not to use his vision.

also, diluc's revenge arc lasted around three years, so they could have run into each other more than once and childe would have been eccatic about it each time. diluc would start getting very, very tired of childe's blood knight antics but maybe start to think of him as insane in a predictable, almost safe way.

fast forward four years and childe shows up in mondstadt on official fatui business. diluc sees childe before childe sees him and he knows it's not worth it trying to fight childe, because childe gets off on it and also a monster (metaphorically but also literally). so he decides to avoid being seen himself and spends a lot of time hiding either at the dawn winery or in the back at the bar. (tho he might do some espionage as the darknight hero, but that's a separate thought.)

at some point, diluc screws up. childe spots him, recognizes him on sight, spot his pyro vision, and becomes immediately I N S U F F E R A B L E. this guy who was nearly a match for him while visionless now has an upgrade and childe very very badly wants to test it out.

childe grins and says, "Wow, fancy meeting you here! It's been so long. I was afraid you'd gotten yourself killed from exposure!" and pulls out a weapon.

diluc scowls and says, "I'm not fighting you in the middle of town you fucking maniac."

childe amicably doesn't rush to attack but doesn't also doesn't put down his weapon. "So, you'll fight me outside of town?"

anyway imagining the local fatui and the mond towns folk observing this interaction in broad daylight and then gossip spreading like wildfire (and kaeya, jean, and lisa hearing about it) gives me life

Guys I'm doing another diluc comic and I need ideas for small segments of diluc's life that would be impactful. They can be more mundane moments or really big ones (Im already including the ragbros fight and crepus's death) but I need more ideas<//3

As a child, Diluc always wanted to travel Teyvat. He liked the idea of going on business trips to see new lands, tasting all sorts of new foods and getting to meet new people. During his four-year absence from Mondstadt after his father's death, the irony was not lost on him in the least as he went along with Alice's advice.

Wandering through Mondstadt at night had always held whispers from operatives of a vengeful wraith, a stalking predator who rids the land of any presence of the unwelcome. It had spoken to him when the tales reached his ears, the whispered words harkening back to the tundra of his homeland, the spill of crimson on porcelain, stark in its contrast under the glistening moonlight. The smile creeps onto lips, a fierce, predatory thing as the ignition of something begins, teeth hidden in that roguish visage. "So we meet again... what is it... Darknight hero? Care to cross blades once more... I have often thought about our glorious battle..."

The voice, the hunger in his eyes when faced with the prospect of battle, they're enough to betray his identity even without the attire of his homeland and the unusual color of his hair. Cold sweat rises in Diluc's neck, his hair sticking to the damp skin as he stares at the man before him, his legs heavy as if they're made of lead. He knew the day would come on which the past caught up with him, but now that it stands in front of him like an omen of death on the familiar cobblestone of his hometown, it hits him like a strike of fever. It's not fear of the man himself that shakes Diluc, but the reality his presence heralds.

Last he heard this voice was on the day he thought he would die, on which he closed his eyes, embraced by a blanket of ice and snow, expecting to never open them again. He fought with all he had but with the grueling months that had came before their battle and Diluc's unwillingness to yield even in the face of certain death, he'd forsaken his life then and there. If not for the help of others he would have lost it on that day and so seeing the Harbinger now feels like death has come to reclaim the borrowed time he's lived on in the last two years.

And yet he won't lie down and let him take it, even if it almost seems righteous.

"I don't seek glory in battle," Diluc says and he means it with every fiber of his being. The days of youthful arrogance are long behind him, dreams of glory and honor achieved in battle buried alongside his father. He fights with a purpose, and with the night as his companion and the mask on his face it is evident that fame is not a part of it. Did it help his opponent to rise in ranks when he defeated him and left him for dead, finally purging Snezhnaya of its scourge? Diluc would lie if he said there isn't a part of him that craves a rematch, one with even chances, for while he may not share the Harbinger's bloodlust, he isn't immune to the itch in his arm to pull his blade.

But he won't fight him here, at the heart of the very place he seeks to protect above all else, the place his heart clings to despite its wish to root out evil wherever it grows. If his blood is to water the soil he grew up on, it won't be in front of the Order's gates. "I don't care to fight you for my own sake, but if you bring strife to this city I will stop you at any cost." He broadens his stance but doesn't reach for his weapon. There's no reason to fear that Tartaglia would easily best him a second time - his injury has healed and he has regained his vision (though at the cost of his father's delusion) - but Diluc knows not to underestimate a formidable opponent.

NEW GOOFY IDEA FROM CLUE (In other news, the sky is blue)

Ok, so here’s my bullshit. It’s 100% incorrect and it came to me with all the subtlety of a freight train and all the lead-up of a sudden sneeze. But here it is:

Pierro is Kaeya’s dad. However, Kaeya also has ANOTHER DAD who I will call ‘General Alberich’ from here on out. Pierro and General Alberich were in the midst of a messy divorce when the cataclysm happened, but the apocalypse kinda backs up the family court system. After everybody got fucked up, Pierro and General Alberich had completely different ideas of what needed to be done and so they went their separate ways (Pierro deciding to make a new world with the Tsaritsa vs General Alberich trying to rebuild Khaenri’ah or whatever tf the Alberich clan is up to). Pierro wound up needing to leave everything behind in order to found the Fatui and so General Alberich effectively winds up with custody of Kaeya. So Kaeya is raised in the Abyss and is trained as the child savior of Khaenri’ah, then is left in Mondstadt to spy for the Abyss.

Fast forward like 18 years and now Pierro has received word from La Signora from her notes written pre-death that the current Cavalry Captain is some asshole named Kaeya Alberich (huh he looks kinda similar to the boss I wonder why ANYWAYS) and Pierro LOSES HIS SHIT because they went through that whole custody battle and the FUCKING APOCALYPSE only for General Alberich to put their kid in Mondstadt. Or maybe Kaeya ran away? Regardless, Pierro is now going to Mondstadt in order to find his kid and reunite with him + get him to spy for the Fatui. At roughly the same time, General Alberich is like ‘huh I haven’t heard from my son in a while maybe I should go check up on him’ and goes to Mondstadt to get Kaeya to keep spying for the Abyss. Meanwhile poor Kaeya is just living a relatively peaceful life in Mondstat and he just wants to keep doing what he’s doing and suddenly BOTH OF HIS DADS ARE POPPING INTO MONDSTADT AND ARE ASKING HIM TO START SPYING FOR THEM.
