Welcome Home || Ryan & Eric

Eric was so excited to finally take their newest family member home. He kept looking back to see him sleeping soundlessly in the backseat, and thanking their lucky stars that Elliot didn’t cry the whole way home. He could still hardly believe he had a kid now. A kid, and a dog, and an amazing husband. Which meant the only thing Eric needed now to make his life perfect was a white picket fence around the yard, but he knew he could live without that.

After the car came to a stop, Eric thought about insisting on being the one to carry Elliot inside, but stopped himself. He’d been, admittedly, a little selfish the past few days, holding Elliot whenever he could and fawning over him. So instead he insisted that Ryan be the one to carry Elliot inside while he grabbed their things. “Let’s try not to get Google too excited when we walk in.” Eric said to Ryan in hushed tones. “I don’t want to wake Elliot up just yet.”

“They aren’t that scary,“ Ryan promised, trying his best to lie. Probably wasn’t the best idea to come from him, but he didn’t want Eric panicking too much. “This time tomorrow, we’ll be cooing over our son, it’s all going to be worth it in the end,“ Ryan offered. “Focus on the end goal.“

The nurse offered an encouraging Smile, “Why don’t you boys stand by her head? See if she wants to hold your hands through the pain and I’ll just have a check, we’re getting really close to delivery time.” Ryan moved closer to Mary, watching her wince in pain. “We definitely owe you a spa day after this,” Ryan joked to Mary, offering his hand. 

“The end goal. Got it. I can do that.“ Eric replied, and took a few deep breaths to help calm himself down.

Then Eric did as the nurse suggested and followed Ryan over to one side of Mary’s bed. Ryan’s joke made him smile a bit, and he even managed to laugh a little. “I think she deserves more than just a spa day.” He replied.

Mary, on the other hand, did not think it was that funny. She tried to smile a bit at Ryan’s joke, but she must have been in too much pain. The only thing she seemed to be focused on now was breathing deeply, probably something the nurse had told her to do. Though she did eventually take Ryan’s hand, and squeezed it extra hard.

Daina 📲 Eric

Daina: Good, let me know if you find anything you like! So I hear. They say you never really know what love feels like until you become a parent, or at least that kind of love, anyway. Has it been everything you thought it would be? Or are some things surprising you about Elliot? :33 so tiny and so, so perfect. You guys seem to have some visitors every time I stop by! Have they been pretty regular or has that just been a coincidence? That's so awesome! I'm glad that he's not so anxious about it, because that would make your job as a dad so much harder!

Eric: It's everything I thought it would be and more. And, not so grand at times too, like changing diapers and every time Elliot pukes on me. We've been getting visitors pretty regularly, even though we've been allowed to leave the hospital now. I'm so glad we got his room decorated in time. I'm glad I was able to convince Ryan to keep a rocking chair in there too. I feel so exhausted all the time.

Will: You provided half the DNA right? That's doing a lot. He's definitely going to be a heart breaker. And of course! Just let me know when you're free and I'll come by!

Eric: Ryan and I are both staying home to take care of Elliot, so you can come over to visit any time you want! I would recommend coming by in the afternoon. He's usually a bit less fussy around then.

Dorothy: Nope no way, if anything he'll just be even more adorable and charming when I get to see him in person (; We're back in town now and I've got plenty of photos and video to show!

Dorothy: I definitely want to and I can't wait to meet him in person! Just listening to the way you and Ryan are already talking about how in love you both are with him makes me that much more happier for you 2

Ryan smiled, and squeezed Eric’s hand. “If you pass out, I’ll catch you and make one of the nurses get you some water,” Ryan grinned. “What happened to being so confident? It’s only a vagina Ryan, I’ve seen them in class plenty of times.” He tried to mimic Eric’s voice but it sounded nothing like him. 

“Let’s go handsome,” Ryan said, squeezing Eric’s hand again. He knocked awkwardly on the door and heard a class to come in. He opened the door and stepped inside, noticing Mary on the bed, holding her extended stomach and in pain. “Oh wow, Mary are you okay?“ Ryan said, making his way over her. A nurse was there, writing down information. “Contractions,“ A nurse explained with a smile. “They’re getting closer now.”

“Don’t be an ass!“ Eric scoffed, and was very tempted to hit Ryan on the shoulder. He didn’t. “This is just all so real now. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Actually, a lot overwhelmed.“

Eric quietly followed Ryan into the room, his eyes immediately going to Mary. She was clearly in pain, and he couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her. They had put her in this situation, even though she’d volunteered for it. Eric then turned towards the nurse and asked “Where do you want us to stand?”

Daina 📲 Eric

Daina: Lol!! My secret plan all along! I'm gonna sneak an extra pair of clothes for her and her very own labcoat just in case she decides to join in.

Daina: I don't think it's necessary, but it might help you relate to other people or feel not alone. The hospital hosts some groups if you're interested, and there's a few good facebook pages as well. Lol, maybe it never will! they are pretty stinkin cute. Good to know, I was just wondering :3. That makes me sooooo happy. That love kinda sneaks up on you, hmm? Wanna know the best part? You never HAVE to stop holding him. And I never have to stop taking adorable pictures of him!! How's Ryan doing?

Eric: Hmm, I'll have to look into it. Maybe after we get to take Elliot home with us. Yeah, it really did sneak up on me. I was told it would, but, there's just nothing like seeing your own baby for the first time. He's just so tiny, Daina. But, I do have to share him with Ryan and all our visitors. Ryan is doing very well, and he looks so adorable holding Elliot. I think he's a little less nervous about being a dad now that Elliot is actually here. I think he fell in love with him immediately, just like I did.

“It takes a while, but she’s been having contractions for a bit according to her friend. No idea how long they’ve been going for,” Ryan answered. Grabbing his coffee from Eric and making his way out the door. After locking the door, he went to the car, getting in and placing his coffee out of the way. He felt the nerves starting to build so tried to focus on the road. Right now was a really bad time to get into any sort of accident. He listened to Eric while he drove, his voice always calming. 

“Dads!“ Ryan smiled at Eric. He arrived at the hospital a little too quickly and parked the car. “Let’s go, love,“ Ryan said, getting out. Locking the car, he reached for Eric’s hand and made his way to the hospital. The signs weren’t the best, but eventually, he found the way and found a nurse to ask about Elliot. “Thanks,“ Ryan smiled, getting the room from the nurse. “Ready?“ Ryan asked, looking at Eric. 

In his excitement, Eric didn’t hesitate to take Ryan’s hand, and he didn’t let go the entire time they wandered through the hospital. You’d think it would’ve been a little easier to find the right room, but, it wasn’t like either one of them was the person actually having the baby. Eric just hoped they weren’t too late.

“I’m ready!“ Eric replied, though he suddenly felt much more nervous than he had before. What if he really did end up passing out in the middle of it all? “Do you promise to catch me if I end up fainting, Ryan?“

Henna: Hey honey! I wanted to congratulate you on your beautiful little boy!! And I hope you're doing okay and I just wanted to text you, because I haven't done that in a while!

Eric: Thank you! I'm doing great! Better than great, actually. Elliot is the cutest little thing, and I'm so in love with him already. You, Surge, and Sara should definitely come by and see him!

Dorothy: Congrats, Daddy!! I saw Ryan's picture on Instagram. Elliot is SO stinking cute! How are you doing? How are you feeling?

Eric: I'm doing great! Better than I ever have! I can't believe how much I love Elliot right now. I'm so over the moon. I can't stop looking at his little face. I want to hold him 24/7.

Eric: Of course, it's only been a day, so I guess the sleep deprivation hasn't set in just yet. The nurses have been so helpful.

ryan-andersen:

Ryan shrugged, “Just wait until we get to the birthing part, I’ll be a mess. I’ll need my husband then.” He was trying to stay calm for the both of them. Panicking wouldn’t do any good right now. “That’s probably a good idea. I forgot about needing a car seat. I hope he doesn’t have to stay in the hospital too long,” Ryan said with a sigh. He was eager to get home and be a proper little family. He put the rest of his clothes on and then found the bag, checking through it to make sure everything was there. “All present and correct,” Ryan called, making his way to the kitchen. He ran a hand over Google’s back. “No idea how long this will last, so I’ll send my aunt a text later to check Google. She might have him for a few days for us.”

Eric was quick to make the coffee and get a bone out for Google to chew on. So he spent the short time it took for Ryan to get the bag, pacing around the kitchen, and worrying about their baby. Though he perked up when he saw Ryan again. “I hope we won’t be late... It takes a long time to have a baby, right? So, we should be fine.” Eric tried to reassure them, but mostly himself. “Come on, let’s go. Here’s your coffee. And I can always call my sister to come check on Google too... Oh! Do you think we should call our families?” asked Eric after handing Ryan a coffee and heading towards the front door.

He was a nervous wreck the entire car ride over there, but, an excited nervous wreck. He found himself talking to Ryan the whole way there, just to get some of his nerves out. Most of it included him exclaiming “Can you believe it, Ryan? We’re going to be dads!”

Daina: I'm not sure she'd want in on the messy explosives, but if she's not busy, she might not be against hanging out, either. I'll have to ask her!

Daina: I completely understand! Are you part of any new and expecting parent groups? Maybe others can relate too. I wonder if the novelty of baby clothes will fade once you're washing them all, you'll have to let me know! Have you spoken to her much since the delivery? Are you guys going to have much contact with her, or will you cut ties now that the most precious nugget I have the pleasure of calling my godchild has been born?

Eric: Good! We might be able to bring her over to the dark side...

Eric: No, should we be? We can't even leave the hospital yet though, so maybe that can wait. The novelty of baby clothes hasn't faded yet, but, it's only been a day. I'll get back to you on that. I haven't spoken to her at all since I thanked her after the birth, and I don't think we're planning on keeping in contact. But, oh my god Daina. I had no idea how much I would love this precious little miracle. My little baby boy. I love him so much already. I never want to stop holding him.

Instead of doing what he wanted to do, which was explaining how that worked, Roland refrained, smiling to the other. “It is what it is,” he commented with a light smile. What do you like to do? This question really got to the male, as he paused to think, as he genuinely didn’t know how to answer. “I guess… I like to do a little bit of everything? Like, uh…” he trailed off, finding himself at a loss for words once again, which made him laugh. “I like Math!” He eventually let out. Which was obvious. This was his profession, he had to like it. 

“Wow, math? That’s an answer I almost never hear.” Eric replied, a little surprised by the answer. “But, I like math too! Well, certain math. I love solving algebraic equations. It’s so satisfying, and kinda soothing...“ He continued, and paused for a moment before continuing. “I always found it kinda cool that math is the same in every language.”

“You think I’d joke about this?“ Ryan grinned. He was nervous, but excited too. Their baby was on its way, they were going to be dads soon! Ryan returned the hug to Eric, sighing as Eric walked away for coffee. Honestly, they probably needed it. Especially if they were driving at this time. Ryan was so damn tired. 

He yawned, pulling clothes out for Eric and placing them on the bed. “Probably.” Ryan grinned at his adorable husband and offered him some pants. ”Don’t want to scare poor Google,” Ryan smiled. He stroked a soothing hand down Eric’s back. “You make us coffee to go and I’ll make sure everything’s in the bag. I want to triple check we have the legal papers for Elliot for the nurses,” Ryan said, pulling his own pants on. Thankfully the surrogacy agency had sorted the legal work, they just had to show the paperwork to prove Elliot was legally theres. “We still have to suffer through all that vagina and blood stuff, ugh,” Ryan grimaced. He wasn’t looking forward to the birthing part. 

Eric smiled, and picked up the clothes to start getting dressed. “Thanks, Ryan.” He replied, and sighed at the comforting hand on his back. It really did wonders to help him calm down. “How are you more put together than me right now?” Eric asked, glancing over at his husband. “I can give Google a bone to chew on while I make the coffee. Then as soon as you’ve got everything checked, we can hop into the car and go...” Eric said as he started for the bedroom door. “Oh, and which car are we taking? I think we put the carseat in your car, right? Since you’ll be home more often?”
