forever obsessed with dynamics between vampires, specifically that of a maker and fledgling, as a way to explore abuse. the creation of a vampire itself can so easily be a literalization of the lasting impacts of trauma and also much more simply the ways a perpetrator might shape their victim’s very identity. the extremes of isolation in the way that the new vampire, in most narratives, must cut all ties to their mortal life, or else go through an elaborate charade to maintain the facade of humanity, while forever still being removed from it. and the sheer dependence and vulnerability of being in an entirely new state of being, wholly uncertain of what it entails, and relying on another person to define… everything.

After about 100 hours of work, it's finally done! Full version feat. Non-explicit nudity & my thoughts on the piece under the cut.

Ah, I'm very happy with how this turned out. There are more things I would have liked to do, but are a little beyond my skillset for right now.

I wanted to capture the post Not-A-Date dream if you're really going for that True Love ending. The sense of being trapped by an unseen force; the sense of being together but still yearning. Daeran somewhat adrift, yet still clinging to his lover. The symbolic halos in the background eclipse together, enhancing the light between them. Meanwhile the presence of The Other seeps into everything, poisoning what should be a pleasant dream into a nightmare.

I wanted to keep their poses just ambiguous enough that you can't tell if they're laying in bed or dancing; I think I managed! I hope I did anyway, lol.

Basically I wanted to be self indulgent, so I was :3. To everyone's benefit, I think.

Random plot thought

What is Yuu gets isekaid into Twisted Wonderland as usual, meet Malleus as usual, then they scream "What are you doing here?! And what's with the weird horns? Are you cosplaying? Why?" But he just blinks at them in confusion and asks if they've met before.

Then Yuu's shaken and can't really process that their boyfriend is also in this world, but doesn't remember them and is apparently a different person.

Then as time goes on, they get to know him and the two Malleuses are literally the same person except for the horns. That's when they come to a conclusion that this must be the afterlife, and they're probably both dead, and finally lets themselves fall in love all over again.

Then the way to go home to the original world presents itself. And, and the original Malleus is alive and well with zero clue that Yuu was isekaid, because in that world not even a single hour has passed since they disappeared.

Who will Yuu pick? The guy who they spent years loving so tenderly, or this guy who, despite not knowing him as long as the other, they joined in many a tribulation and loved so truly in his most vulnerable of moments? 🤔
