Ooooh yknow what! Digimon!!

So the Digimon stages are Egg, Fresh, In-Training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, and Mega. Among Mega you get a lot more power variance, bc the literal Digigods and Omnimon are all Mega but there's also comparable small fry like MarineAngemon

So one would logically assume that Fresh digivolves into In-Training, and yeah! Usually! Sometimes ya get them digivolving to Rookies and stuff tho bc it's not very linear

And sometimes. For some unholy reason. You get Pichimon, a Fresh. A literal newborn Digimon. Digivolving DIRECTLY, NOT THROUGH FUSION OR AN EGG OR ANYTHING, JUST PLAIN OLD DIGIVOLVING. INTO MARINEANGEMON. A MEGA DIGIMON.

And while MarineAngemon isn't STRONG for a Mega, that is still ABSURD. Imagine you get a Pichimon and you're like "yay! I can't wait for a Bukamon or a Chapmon!" [Both of which are In-Training.]

And then it digivolves and you look up what it is and it's a fucking Mega. As a hard rule in the first few series [idk abt later ones], Ultimates CANNOT beat Mega Digimon unless they're weakened already somehow. The power gap between each stage is nothing to sneeze at! Sure, 7 rookies can beat a weak Champion in episode 1 of Adventure, but it's SEVEN of them. All in peak condition. Imagine getting a Squirtle and it evolves into Mega Rayquaza.

That's an excellent question. If the DigiGods can be called gods and the Chosen Children have been altered to be able to control them... wouldn't that make them all gods as well?

And if that's the case, what would it make those that originally intended to control them?

So yesterday I learned that Ken and Osamu were almost twins and this morning I wrote up notes for an AU for that

I'm here on tumblr for another 2 and a half hours or so before my game tonight, so I'll gladly rp this AU in that time

full disclaimer, my shipper's heart is showing in the below and I havent even considered anything for the other characters

So a world where Ken is a twin, he doesn't understand why he's not as smart as Osamu, they're literally twins why does Osamu get way more attention?

He gets increasingly pissed about it. When the digivice comes out of the computer, he doesn't get why _Osamu_ gets to keep it, he already has everything. Ryou joins their class around the same time, the teachers thought it would be easier if both twins were in one class, less chance of them switching places. And Ryou is drawn to Osamu and Ken is left fuming, trying not to be jealous at one more thing Osamu has instead of Ken.

But hey, at least Ken is known to be kinder? That's gotta count for something, right?

Osamu is away at some thing for famous people, honestly Ken doesn't care what, Ken only cares that his twin that will be gone long enough for him to jimmy the lock on the drawer. He takes the digivice, Ryou arrives unexpectedly for Osamu and finds the younger twin instead

The digiworld pulls them in and tag tamers happens and Ken finally feels seen even if even an evil digigod openly doesn't want him around. He gains a friend in Ryou, shares a small part of his thoughts, but then the Spore happens and the festering anger in him only grows.

He's sick in bed, helping Ryou through the computer, and Osamu is there, changing his headcloth whenever it gets too warm, trying to figure out how the tf to fix his brother

It's during a fever dream that Ken says "I wish you were gone" and Osamu tries not to take it personally, but it still hurts, when Ken is better and Ryou is officially missing, he takes Ken out for ice cream. It's an excuse to get away from the parents, he intended to talk things over with Ken. They never make it there

Inoue Mart is right across the street the twins only half cross (because before they lived in Tamachi, they lived in Odaiba) and when one of the Inoue kids saw the accident, they called for their parents. The Inoues are the first on the scene, the first to try and comfort Ken while hiding his brother's body from him.

Osamu was dead on impact, the last words he told his brother was that everything seem better after some ice cream, the last words he heard were that nothing was wrong Osamu why would you think that.

They move to Tamachi, getting away from the media as they cover osamu's death. Ken gets a million well-wishes, but also hears when classmates idiotly wonder why the _good_ twin died. He is not dealing well, then he gets the email about the digital world and he jumps, having forgotten the digital world during his feverdreams, fully believing that even his adventure with Ryou was a figment of fiction

He takes on the digital world, fashioning his "avatar" after his twin because even now he feels like Osamu is required to experience everything first but Osamu ain't here.

When the new digikids join the world, he recognized the youngest Inoue and prayed she didn't recognize him but that was a long lost dream already

It takes a while, especially with Ken refusing to be alone with her, but the moment she finds them alone, Miyako quietly says a name and he's confused. Ken? Doesn't she mean Osamu? Who tf does she think she is, actually recognizing him?

Normal 02 continues, with Miyako hiding that she already knew who he was as she tried to figure out what was going on any time they were alone

Eventually, when he returns to the human world after staying far away for months, he ends up in the hospital, it's not the first time at all but this time is more memorable, it's the first time he's seen a friend he forgot about, in 3 years. Kouichi is there, immediately recognizes him, and gives him a hug that's 3 years late but just as important as it would have been back then.

Unknown to Ken, the reason why he lost contact with Kouichi at such a critical time in his life, was because of Kouichi’s accident with the stairs.

While Ken lost a twin, Kouichi gained one.

They talked about everything and now that they both have phones they promise not to lose contact again. It only takes one digimon in the human world for them to share that they're both digidestined of different digital worlds

Dreaming To Reality: Oneiromancy Chapter Twenty Seven - 05

Miyako glanced over at Iori, who stood rigidly, not noticing her gaze. She straightened up with an air of authority as she turned back to the room and let out a sharp clap of her hands, drawing eyes to her as she looked around at the others. “Yeah, no, we’re not talking about this in front of the baby.” She gave a pointed look at Tsuyosa, who blinked at her, then returned her attention to the others. “Right now, let’s just focus on what we’re going to do about Zeed and his brainwashing.”

Ryo let out a shudder at the sound of Zeed’s name, feeling a rush of emotions so intense his stomach churned. Despite this, he somehow managed to get his voice to work. “And… about Zeed being my… m-my… m…”

Keiko placed her hand on Ryo’s head and let out a soft shushing sound. “You don’t have to say it.”

Ryo shivered again, but bowed his head, letting Keiko stroke his hair softly. He felt guilty for crumbling so easily and wanting such comfort so badly. He should have been better than this. He was the Chosen of Miracles. He had so many responsibilities he needed to handle, and yet he couldn’t even finish a sentence.

This whole thing… this messed up situation with Zeed… It was all his fault. He had to fix it. He just had no idea how.

“Well,” Yamato said, slowly. His words came out stiff and awkward as he took the time to choose them with care, knowing how delicate the subject was. “The current plan seems to be… to take advantage of Zeed’s state to, well… finish what Narakumon started back at the Battlefield Memorial. And then let the filter, ah… keep Zeed in time out until the DigiGods are awake and able to, uh… address him.”

“Time out?” Ryo repeated as he turned to Yamato.

“Osamu has a filter that… filters out Digimon so that they can’t, um,” Yamato paused as he found it increasingly difficult to soften the subject. He grimaced, then sighed. “Let’s just say, there’s a reason we haven’t seen Qinglongmon or Xuanwumon since we restored the Village of Beginnings… and Osamu plans to use that same reason on Zeed.”

Ryo’s eyes widened as the implications sunk in. “You’re going to stop Zeed from being reborn.”

“Only until Narakumon and Tenraimon are back up and running,” Miyako said hastily as she held up her hands in a placating manner. “The plan is they’re going to wipe out his memories so he hopefully won’t… you know…” She gave a small shrug after an awkward pause. “I know it’s harsh, but all our partners have done it before, right? They volunteered to forget their previous lives, so Zeed is just going to forget again, and you two will have the chance to start over like it never happened.”

That’s what Ken thought when he saw the other from a distance. Without knowing anything about them as he watched the other be walked up to the crown’s dais.

Of course, he didn’t expect to actually be allowed to experiment on the servant yet. All new servants were kept off the list of allowed specimens until they did something bad or the crown was certain the original master didn’t want them back.

Ken stayed in the shadows, watching the proceedings without being able to hear their low voices, and fully knowing that only weak digimon wouldn’t know he was there. Then his name was called for and he marched out of the shadows towards the dais.

“Ken, this one is yours.” The Lord of the Castle stated calmly. Ken blinked behind his purple tinted sunglasses.

“I already have Wormmon, Lord Milleniummon. A human is useless to me.”

“Even a human that can shift between organic and digital? At will?” The dragon chuckled, no doubt having their own agenda for giving Ken such a useful new servant.

Another human like himself and Ryou-san? And one not empowered by Milleniummon? Oh all the possibilities for how and why it happened. What differences might be between them.

“Thank you, milord. Must I be… careful with him?”

“He’s yours.”

Ken thanked the crown again, before leading the boy away. Once far enough, he stopped and turned around to examine his new servant properly.

“Call me Master Ken, you’ll do as I ask, when I ask it. Some of your duties will be to fetch me food and drink at appropriate times. Your name and digital form?”

Kouichi Kimura was no longer. When given the corrupted spirits of darkness, the chosen had lost his humanity just as Cherubimon had designed. But instead of being drafted into the war, the newly christened Duskmon, warrior of darkness, was assigned to the powerful digigod known as Milleniummon.

Duskmon was a clean slate with all the power of a warrior and no strings attached. Well, except for those that kept him under command. He didn’t know - couldn’t remember - what else there was. The warrior figured that it was simply... destiny that he became the prince’s plaything.

As the heir apparent lurked within the shadows, the spirit could sense their presence even in a lower powered form. As Ken was called forth, the warrior lowered to a knee, bowing his head before them.

Kouichi could have been mistaken for a relation of the prince. But under the influence of the spirits of darkness, Duskmon’s lower form appeared slightly different. The usual dark blue eyes seemed purple due to the glassy red data flowing through him, and black lines dripped down over his cheeks.

“Duskmon, human spirit of darkness,” he replied at once, straightening his stance. “Whatever you ask, when you ask of it, is my command, Master Ken.”
