Howdy, it's a spoiler question about Oswin. Did Oswin have two mentors to teach him how to fight? Is one Da and the other the bad one? Who was his first tutor, Da or the other one? If he originally had Da as his first tutor how come he decided to change?
Howdy howdy! This is a good question and I don't think it's too spoilery in the grand scheme, but there's a few bits I will put below the cut that are technically spoilers for this.
Oswin learned under Kip/MC's Da in addition to an actual "master/mentor." Consider it a bit like studying abroad but having a tutor at home to keep you fresh and show you new perspectives.
Oswin's mother is who first got him interested in swordsmanship and tested the waters with him when he was very young and curious. She set him up with Kip a few times to really see if it was something he wanted to pursue in life.
Now for the spoilery bits...(they're not earth-shattering or anything, but just in case).
Kip did offer to officially mentor Oswin, but there was some issues with it. One of which I cannot reveal.
Oswin being Oswin, he felt it was a burden to place on Kip - what with a sick child and household to run. And in little Oswin's/Yarrow's head, he wanted more adventure too. There was also appeal in working with a mentor that is a bit famous with established notoriety and credibility. This backfired, of course. There will be more on him later.
Oswin didn't speak of how he was treated for a long time. His parents didn't know, and then after a while, Oswin just felt stuck with it. Kip figured it out and helped where he could and they became especially close and had a deeper mentor/therapist-like relationship that still persists to this day.
Chapter 6 will touch on more the Oswin's family stuff because it kinda plays into this as well but that's TOO spoilery for this. ^_^

About *that* scene
Spoilers for Arcane Season 2 Act 3 (c8 specifically)
Okay so I've seen a lot of people being happy that we finally got a lesbian sex scene in Arcane and I totally agree but ngl I've watched it a few times now and every single time I end up crying because I just find it so beautiful. So I wanted to talk about it.
Like, it's not even the fact that the animation is amazing (I also LOVE the illumination, I think it feels so intimate) and the characters are beautiful, it's something about the way the scene is done. I find the sequence it goes through so smooth and staisfying: Vi being at one of her lowest points, Cait choosing to stand by her side thus proving her wrong, Vi wanting to kiss the hell out of Cait and Cait being all woried, Vi's "I don't fucking care", I DON'T FUCKING CARE, and when they actually get to it you can see that they're both slightly nervous and it's a bit akward because it's their first time having sex and that's how it usually is, but they just want to continue undressing each other and exploring each other's bodies. It's just so beautiful.
But also, the fact that we got to see this, the fact that after years and years we have two girls in an animated cartoon having sex and it's not portrayed in a way that sexualizes them. I was so scared that it would look like the CaitVi explicit fanart that's already up online, which is very clearly tailored to the male gaze (tbf, most of them are also based on the old character designs), but it doesn't, it's just two girls wanting to fuck each other but also being a bit nervous about it. And it's beautiful.
And while I'm at it let me tell you how HEALING it was to see Vi's body, which definitely doesn't fit current beauty standardards for women, and realizing that I find her even hotter than I do Cait (those shoulders could cure me). And I'm not trying to compare them at all bc I love them both and that'd be stupid, I'm just saying I'm thankful that the show helped me continue my slow but steady healing from years and years of diet culture bullshit and beauty standards. Tl;dr: Vi is so fucking hot I'm so gay for her.
Anyway, I won't stop watching that scene because it's healing and cathartic and I love it. Hope you enjoyed this rant :)
PD: The one thing I don't love is the music (although it's growing on me) bc hearing "American classics," "champagne," "plastic," and "God" in a world where none of those things are a thing takes me a bit out every time.

HOUSE MD SPOILERS below the cut
I just LOVE the ending. I hate it, but I love it and I want to talk about why it was actually so fucking good.
Tbh I love that Wilson, not House, is the one diagnosed with cancer.
Like it would have been so easy to end on the tempting note of House's actions having consequences and his drug use wrecking his body to the point of precancerous conditions that manfiest into the death he craved and nearly saw several times in the series, but they didn't. They could have given the character who is too disabled to exercise and has a diet of drugs and alcohol the cancer, but they didnt.
They said, no, the one who eats well and exercises regularly gets cancer. The one who blow dries his hair every morning and never does drugs(except the times he was roofied by House) and takes care of himself is diagnosed with terminal cancer and there is nothing to be done.
Because that's how cancer is. You can be in the best physical and mental shape of anyone and still lose to cancer, and fast. Sometimes the guy who eats nothing but fast food and has never checked his bmi will be the one whose organs last longer than his friend who eats balanced meals everyday and never done a thing to harm his body. Because that's how cancer is.
Cancer doesn't spare you because you're supposed to be the Watson to his Sherlock. Cancer doesn't spare you because you're an oncologist. Cancer doesn't spare you because your friend is the one who does drug and youre clean. Cancer doesnt spare you because all your meals were homecooked and made with your body's health in mind.
In this story, Sherlock fakes his death so Watson won't have to die alone. Because even the best detective is rendered useless in the face of his best friend's cancer.
I love that the story stuck to its guns and shot Wilson in the dead center of his clavicle.
Because "Cancer is Boring".
For a show that never stops trying to one up itself every episode to come up with the most insane medical conditions, ending it with the patient being Wilson, and the prognosis being simple, boring cancer was the best choice I think they could have made even if I hated it.
Because I wanted Wilson to live, I wanted House to turn around and find some crazy thing that would mean he is okay and it never happened. Wilson was just going to die, because it's cancer.
Simple and boring, but heavy and painful. I wanted Wilson to live, just like everyone who has lost a loved one to cancer wanted them to live, for a doctor to find something else and make it all better, but that's not what cancer is.
And for it to end on that note, really solidified this show in my brain as one to be remembered. Because, despite everything in the series, all the metaphors to geniuses and God and brilliance and remarkable feats, this show is true to itself to ALWAYS cut House down to a broken man again.
He gets his old flame back, and he still loves her, but it won't take long for that to end bitterly.
He does experimental medication, it fixes his pain and he can do the thing he loves again(running/jogging) and he ends up broken in his bathtub pulling tumors from his leg and ultimately has to call someone to help him.
He gets goes to rehab, gets clean, and wins the love of the main female lead, but he falls off, he gets suicidal, he loses her, and then he goes to jail.
He helps people while in jail, then he gets out of jail, he fixes his relationship with his best friend, he helps people at his old job, his best and only friend is diagnosed with terminal cancer, he lands himself in a burning building while tripping hard and takes that chance to throw everything away for this friend who will only be with him a few more months.
At the beginning, middle, and end of the show it really says "God doesn't limp."
Dr. Gregory House is just a man.

Boy and Door: You are NOT the Faeder
As always, spoilers for Hunter: The Parenting
Alright friends, this one I'm kinda shaky on and there's not much here at present, but I want to get my thoughts down.
TL;DR Door is not Boy's biological dad, and this might be a very important plot point.
As is my pattern, let's examine their TTS origins: Door was Rogal Dorn, primarch of the imperial fists, praetorian of terra, and Lord Adorable. Boy was a vox hailer serf with notoriously strong legs, and eventually the respect of some members of the adeptus custodes. Dorn became a father figure for Boy over the course of his appearance, mostly keeping him from being bullied by the custodes or Magnus. Also boy might have had latent psyker powers, we will return to this. As a side note: SuperAnchors and Nostalgia, the voices of Door/Dorn and Boy/Boy respectively are perhaps my favourite performances on TTS and H:TP. They are always a joy when they're on screen and I really appreciate their characters in both series. SuperAnchors gets a special mention for practically reshaping the perception of Rogal Dorn in the fanbase, and Nostalgia should be appreciated for turning a character litterally named "Boy" into one of the best characters in either series. Tts rant time done.
So. Boy. And Door. Look at these silly fellas, are you really going to tell me that Boy shares genetic heritage with Door? And where is his mother? I believe Door is not Boy's biological dad, and instead adopted him and has been raising him as his own. I think this is so easily accepted and never mentioned because I am honestly not convinced that Door and Markus are Big D's biological children either. I think their family is just super open to adopting anyone and everyone who comes along, and so Boy being adopted just means he's the youngest family member, no questions or qualms.
Now, this is where my REAL theory starts, and where my research into WoD kinda halted me a little bit. You see, in folklore a changeling is a child swapped with member of the fae in EARLY life. In the original WoD, changelings are... weirder... than that. I'm not sure. So I'm not a hundred percent on this one. But I think Boy is a folkloric changeling, a fae being in place of a child. I don't think Boy knows this fact, and frankly I don't think he would be able to access anything supernatural until recently. Recently being when he started experiencing "puberty disease" as listed in one cutaway card. That same cutaway card mentions it being "cured with meat". Now the fae have ofttimes been portrayed as dainty and nature loving and very "surface level fantasy" elf like. Reading about WoD fae made my head hurt so I don't know if that applies here, but MAYBE boy was starting to manifest his fae side, and eating a stable meat only (read: anti elf) diet staved it off for a time. I think those powers are now bubbling back up, despite the continued meat consumption.
I think H:TP is building up the awakening of many powers, when I get around to explaining the things we all know about Markus this will be relevant. But for Boy I think he is awakening some future telling fae abilities. I think Boy is keeping some of his hinted at seer powers from TTS, just in a different context. In the first arc we see a couple of hints to this: first episode Boy spots Pyotr while he's invisible (and you can too if you look very closely for his eyes), Boy doesn't know he has cool powers so he doesn't recognize fully his feat. But spotting an obscured vamp who can disappear even on camera is pretty above human. Next there is the final confrontation against Pyotr, some day I may type a long diatribe on why that scene in particular is great but not today. Boy manages to hit a shot on a target moving parallel to his position going LUDICROUS speed. I think he may have done this thanks to a lil bit of precognition. And finally there is the meeting with Horse.
Horse and what he IS will get another post one day, but for now let's talk a little about the vision. I think it's not coincidence that Horse calls Boy "oracle" and speaks of prophecy to him. I also don't think it coincidence that Boy sees shapes in the blood. I think Boy is a seer, and certain forms of divination uses blood and gore to make predictions (see Haruspex). Again, I will cover Horse's prophecy another time, but let's talk about the "Faeder" line. I don't think that word was chosen just cause it sounds olde. I think it's a hint and misdirection. Again, I suspect boy was not born into this family, but instead is a product of the faeries. This would mean he has a faerie father, or a fae father, or a faeder. I think Horse was telling Boy that his TRUE father will die. Buuuuuut WoD changelings are weird and Alfabusa has written important foreshadowing WAY too early before (Hello TTS Ghazkhull!), so I'm not sure. I will say to bolster this idea that it was weird for Horse to mention "milklings", another name for changelings, on the same level as other WoD big players. I think this was also a tip off to us the audience about our beloved family, aside from kindred I believe each group mentioned is represented in that role call.
Door. Door is simple, strong, and the only actual normal human hunter in the family (see my kitten theory, Markus and Big D theories pending). Based on the episode titles, and the show title itself, I think the "hunter" in question is Door, and "the parenting", refers to his relationship with Boy. Boy seems to be the writer of the episode titles (on the actual title cards) in arc 1. I hope we see Boy grow under Door's guidance, because I love these characters. And I really hope I'm right that Boy has a fae dad who will take the bullet of prophecy so we don't have to see Door desiccated on the rocks.
Let me know what you think, til next time
Good evening

What is a Ghoul?
Ghouls (喰種グール, gūru, translates approximately to eater species) are a carnivorous and cannibalistic humanoid species that are only able to feed on the flesh of humans and other ghouls. They normally share and display the same attributes as Humans; being similar in physical appearance and intelligence as a human, with the main exceptions being their inner biology, mentality, and diet.
Due to their status as predators of humans, ghouls are prosecuted by The CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul).
DIET A ghoul can only feed on humans and other ghouls. They are unable to digest any other type of food due to a particular enzyme their bodies produce. The structure of their tongues is also different from that of humans, making other foods taste disgusting and uncomfortable. If ghouls attempt to eat normal food, they will be struck by a powerful urge to vomit. When forced or forcing themselves to digest such food, their physical condition will deteriorate. While ghouls cannot eat normal food, they are however able to drink coffee (and eat the beans), as well as regular drinking water.
Ghouls do not need to eat regularly like humans do. They can survive for one or two months on just one body. However, some ghouls eat merely for pleasure.
When a ghoul enters an extreme state of hunger, they will suffer very painful headaches and their mental ability will be impaired, causing them to become driven by instinct alone. They will feed on any available source of human meat to end this state. Ghouls have described this state of near-starvation as, "hell for any ghoul".
[TL;DR — Ghouls eat humans and other ghouls. They can't eat normal human food or they'll feel immediately sick, but they can drink coffee, eat coffee beans, and drink water. Ghouls can survive on one human for one or two months, though extreme hunger is agonising.]
GHOUL BIOLOGY Ghouls possess extreme physical capabilities, and are four to seven times stronger than the average human; they are able to send the average human flying if struck with enough force, and can penetrate a human's body with their bare hands. Ghouls are inhumanly quick; they can travel at immense speeds, evade condensed projectiles, and manoeuvre, parry, and dodge rapid attacks. They are also capable of jumping to heights not achievable by a regular human. Their agility and balance are similarly great; they're often shown performing various acrobatic feats during combat and casually manoeuvring on narrow surfaces (such as lamp-posts); some are even shown easily running up or across vertical surfaces.
Their bodies are extremely tough and resistant to injury. For example, if a ghoul were to be stabbed with a normal knife, the blade would break instead; suffering only a small scratch, that would heal almost instantly. However, higher kinetic forces, such as a fall from a great height, can and will harm them.
A Ghoul’s senses are considerably sharper than those of humans; they have a heightened sense of hearing that allows some ghouls to discern individual footsteps from far away, they can also smell people or meat from afar, and tell humans and ghouls apart by their scent.
[TL;DR — Ghouls are significantly stronger than humans, and inhumanely quick, have superior balance and agility, and are extremely tough and resistant to injury. Regular weapons do minimal harm to them (if they were to be stabbed by a knife, the knife would break), and all injuries heal almost instantly. A fall from a significant height would damage them though. They also have heightened senses of smell and hearing.]
Ghoul Terms
RC CELLS Rc (Red Children) cells (Rc細胞, Rc saibō) are certain cells that exist only in the story of Tokyo Ghoul. The origin of the name comes from how each individual cell looks like a curled up fetus. They exist in both humans and ghouls. They flow like blood but can become as solid as teeth, and could be called "liquid muscles". Typically, a ghoul stocks Rc cells by eating people. Within the body, the Rc cells are concentrated and stored in a kakuhou. The kagune is formed by Rc cells that have been released from a kakuhou and have pierced through the skin.
The Rc factor is a measure for the amount of Rc cells in the body of a living being. Ghouls have an "Rc factor" ten times higher than humans. If, for whatever reason, a normal human receives an excessive amount of Rc cells, such as through experiments, they will start to develop ghoul-like characteristics and eventually not be able to consume human food. This can lead to the creation of a half-ghoul, or a one-eyed ghoul.
[TL;DR — Cells that both ghouls and humans have (made up) that can be in liquid or solid form. Stored in the kakuhou (ghoul organ), and when released, form the kagune. Ghouls replenish Rc cells by eating humans. Ghouls have more Rc cells than humans, but if a human were to experience an increase in Rc cells, they would develop ghoul characteristics.]
KAKUHOU A kakuhou (赫包, kakuhō, approximately red wrap) is a sac-like organ that is only present in ghouls. The purpose of the kakuhou is to store Rc cells. The nutrition contained in the Rc cells are absorbed by the ghoul. These cells are transported to the kakuhou in the blood and stored inside.
The Rc cells can be released from the kakuhou piercing the skin either consciously or due to excitement. These released cells form the kagune. A damaged Kakuhou can not form a kagune until it has healed.
(There are no images of this, use your imagination.)
[TL;DR — An organ only ghouls have that stores their Rc cells. This organ allows the Rc cells to be released from the body and form a kagune.]
KAGUNE A kagune (赫子, red child) is a ghoul's predatory organ and functions as their weapon and claws. It is usually as red as blood (the colours are varied in the anime to distinguish the kagune of each individual), flexible like the flow of water, but firm and sturdy. When released, a ghoul's physique is strengthened, they are more resilient, and their mobility heightens. A kagune is composed of Rc cells, which flow just like blood, can become as solid as teeth and can be described as "liquid muscles." The Rc cells are released from a kakuhou piercing the skin, and the released Rc cells form the kagune. The kagune are voluntary muscles as ghouls can control them whenever they want and repeatedly harden and soften them at will. Kagune size depends on the Rc cells' quality and quantity while the shape depends on the creativity and intellect of the user.
Although a ghoul's healing ability is high, the healing of wounds tends to be delayed if the wounds are inflicted by a kagune. It is also evident that in order to counter a kagune in battle, one must also have a kagune. Hence, ghoul investigators use kagune-based quinque as a tactical means to battle against ghouls.
(See below for kagune types.)
[TL;DR — Ghoul weapon made from Rc cells. A kagune has the ability to be flexible while still being solid and sturdy. Ghouls become stronger when their kagune is released. Ghouls can control their kagune at will. While ghouls can heal rapidly, they heal slower if the injury was caused by a kagune.]
Ghoul Types
The kagune's appearance and the place of emergence on the body depend on the Rc type of the ghoul. There are four different Rc types: ukaku, koukaku, rinkaku, and bikaku. As a guideline, each type can characteristically subdue another type, although it may be different for two specific opponents. Each Rc type has a set of strengths and weaknesses, each one unique to its type.
UKAKU An ukaku kagune (羽赫, ukaku, "feather-red") is spread out like feathers and is released from the shoulder area.
Specializes in high speed attacks
Lightweight
Primary method of attack - high speed, torrent-like projectiles
Able to use as a shield
Suited for short-distance and long-distance attacks
However, short-range is considered their weakness
Ukaku type users lack endurance and are at a disadvantage if the battle drags on for a long time
Ayato Kirishima
KOUKAKU A koukaku kagune (甲赫, kōkaku, "shell-red") is released below the shoulder blade.
Extremely heavy and robust
Well suited for defence
Generally shaped into armour or shields
Can be shaped into melee weapons such as blades
Inferior speed due to weight
Difficult to wield
Tsukiyama Shuu
RINKAKU A rinkaku kagune (鱗赫, rinkaku, "scale-red") has an appearance similar to scaled tentacles and is released at the back around the waist.
Users of this type have powerful regenerative albilities
Able to survive critical damage
Superior striking power
Excel in brute strength
Some users are able to manipulate the shape of this kagune such as forming into swords/blades or claws
This kagune is very soft and easy to break
Able to create between 1-8 scaled tentacles
Kaneki Ken
BIKAKU A bikaku kagune (尾赫, bikaku, "tail-red") typically has a tail-like appearance and is released around the tail-bone/coccyx.
Good for medium-distance attacks
Decent offence, defence and speed
No notable strengths or weaknesses
The number of tails a bikaku user can create is usually one, but some can create more.
Nishiki Nishio
Ghoul Lifestyle
Ghouls had two choices of lifestyle: living as hermits; isolated and avoiding society's eyes, or attempt to assimilate into human society.
IDENTITY If caught in ghoul activities or suspected of being a ghoul, CCG Investigators have the right to apprehend or kill them as they see fit. Ghouls that are identified could be hunted down like criminals as per the Ghoul Countermeasures Law. As such, ghouls act discreetly or try to hide their faces when engaging in ghoul activities by wearing masks.
Ghouls in Tokyo, in particular, developed a trend of wearing masks to hide their faces, making the mask the identifying feature instead of their face, some even forming gangs based on their masked identity. Since the ghouls are only identifiable by their masks, they are safe so long as their face is not exposed.
HUNTING Ghouls can pretend to eat food in order to fool other people into believing they are human. However, they must make themselves throw up soon afterward, or they will become sick.
Because they can only consume human flesh, they are very territorial when it comes to, "hunting grounds" on which it is appropriate to hunt humans without notice. Human consumption depends on the ghoul, as some may prefer to be scavengers who only take from people who were recently deceased. Some groups of ghouls can provide human meat for those that prefer not to hunt for themselves. Other ghouls may moderately hunt humans as carnivores with thoughts of appreciation for the lives they must consume, although there are ghouls who will indiscriminately devour as much as they can. Ghouls who indulge in excess have developed a superficial view on the value of life after consuming so many humans, much like how humans perceive livestock they grow and consume.
❯ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗖𝗚 (𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹)
Who are the CCG?
The Commission of Counter Ghoul (喰種対策局 Gūru Taisaku Kyoku, literally "Ghoul Countermeasures Bureau"), usually abbreviated as CCG シーシージー (Shīshījī), is a federal agency in the Tokyo Ghoul series that serves as a criminal investigative body in cases connected to ghouls.
The Ghoul Countermeasures Law was the legal foundation for the CCG's prosecution of ghouls. The CCG's headquarters are in the 1st Ward.
The ghouls commonly call the ghoul investigators Doves (白鳩ハト, Hato), a nickname originating from the CCG's seal.
Initially, the CCG utilized firearms to oppose ghouls, which proved ineffective due to their physique. After a certain period of time, the organization, developed a new weapon to battle ghouls, the quinque, which was derived from the ghouls' kagune. The ghoul extermination rate increased rapidly thanks to that weapon, and it is the desired weapon of choice to the investigators.
INVESTIGATORS CCG employs two different kinds of investigators:
Ghoul investigators, employed at CCG's main office, carry out the actual investigations and capture suspects. They are often assigned to carry out investigations in one of Tokyo's wards. Only ghoul investigators are permitted to be armed with quinques.
Bureau investigators deal mostly with paperwork and back up ghoul investigators when necessary. Most of them are employed at CCG's branch offices. They are armed with firearms loaded with Q bullets.
CCG Investigator Terms
QUINQUE A quinque (クインケ, kuinke) is a weapon manufactured from a ghoul's kakuhou used by CCG ghoul investigators. The quinque emits electrical signals that stimulate the kakuhou to release and control it. They can be made into types of melee or ranged weapon, but most retain a few characteristics from the original kagune. In contrast to kagune, quinque cannot change shape nor store or absorb Rc cells other than what was harvested from the ghoul it was made from.
(that fourth image is so fucking bad I'm crying please TG anime remake I'm begging)
RATING Ratings are a system used by the Commission of Counter Ghoul to classify ghouls with respect to their perceived individual ability and threat level.
Ghouls are rated based upon various factors, including their basic strengths, activity levels, influence and hostility towards investigators. There are six rating levels, from SSS (the most powerful) to C (the weakest). In some cases, a tilde (~) is added to the base rating. This indicates that the ghoul is estimated to be at least that strong, but the rating may change once more is known about the subject.
SSS rated - Criteria is unclear. SS rated - Multiple Special Class Investigators are needed. S+ rated - Equivalent to the ability of an average Special Class Investigator. (approx.) S- rated - Equivalent to the ability of an average Associate Special Class Investigator. (approx.) A rated - Comparable to a First Class Investigator. These ghouls are usually set as a target and some ghouls might develop a second tail/tentacle. B rated - Comparable to a Rank 1 to Rank 3 Investigator. These ghouls should have their Kagune mastered and are usually a small threat to the CCG. C rated - Ghouls of smaller ability, these ghouls usually can't fight any ghoul investigators and only attack unarmed humans.
In addition to the ghoul's individual ability, the actual damage caused by the ghoul is also evaluated. The rating is set in consideration of the predation and killing incidents committed by the ghoul.
For some ghouls, their influence over other ghouls is also taken into account when ratings are given.
CCG Investigator Ranks
Usually, ghoul investigators were instructed at and graduated from the CCG's Ghoul Investigator Training Academy. When they enter the CCG, they begin their career as Rank 2 investigators.
New ghoul investigators are typically partnered with a senior investigator or join a squad to continue their training on the job.
SENIOR INVESTIGATORS
Special Class Investigator: The highest possible rank, achieved by the smallest percentage of investigators. They are considered the strongest of all investigators, and typically command operations as well as oversee the daily running of their assigned wards. Associate Special Class Investigator: Also known as assistant special investigators. The second highest rank, achieved by a small percentage of investigators. They possess the authority to command operations or oversee individual wards as necessary. First Class Investigator: Also known as Senior Investigator, with most investigators achieving this rank later in their career. It is typical for an investigator to retire at this rank, and their responsibilities are typically training a junior partner. Very few investigators move beyond this rank, and reaching it before their thirties is considered the mark of an exceptional investigator.
JUNIOR INVESTIGATORS
Rank 1 Investigator: Also known as second class, The highest rank for a junior investigator, having gained experience but not yet at the peak of their career. On average, Rank 1 investigators are around twenty-seven years old when they are promoted. Rank 2 Investigator: Also known as third class, This is the rank at which almost all ghoul investigators begin their career, after graduating from the Ghoul Investigator Training Academy. Rank 3 Investigator: Bureau investigators begin their career at this rank. Ghoul investigators who begin their career at this rank are "special cases," made investigators without formal training at the Training Academy.

What is a Ward?
Tokyo is divided into 24 wards. I think the best equivalent would be London boroughs or New York City boroughs.
NOTABLE WARDS
The 2nd Ward
This is where the main character of NTG is from.
The CCG has a large presence here due to its proximity to the 1st Ward. It is almost impossible for ghouls to live here.
It borders the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th and 8th wards.
The 13th Ward
This is where the story of NTG is set.
It has been described that this ward has experienced so much bloodshed, it's scary even for ghouls.
It borders with the 3rd, 4th, 10th, 12th, 14th and 15th wards.

a few post 2.5 characterization notes.
obvious spoilers? yea.
okay so admittedly I am typing this while still pretty darn sick, so if something doesn't make sense grammatically i am actually begging you to point it out to me so I can fix it when i'm not Dying lmao. but here we go:
as I've said in a few places in the server, I'm really not in love with the fact that hoyo's taken away jiaoqiu's ability to see as a consequence of his poisoning when he was already dealing with the loss of his sense of taste in the last thirty years. like just make him deaf too at this point smh -- but forreal ok let's discuss jiaoqiu's current condition and what he is and isn't doing re: lingsha's orders.
the state of jiaoqiu's vision.
tl;dr, it's severely impaired but not completely gone.
lingsha's report describes it as "function blindness", ie. legal blindness, suggesting he still has some ability to see, but it is impaired profoundly enough that even corrective lenses don't do much to help. I'm choosing to interpret this as difficulty discerning people and his environment clearly at a distance greater than two feet, but still some ability to see with some detail (color, clear shapes and features, text, etc.) when something or someone is within twelve inches of his face. this would explain his ability to still use his phone, though I'd imagine he's relying slightly more on accessibility features as trying to type a reply with the phone screen right in his face is probably. quite taxing. when you're further away from him, he can make out a rough shadow of where you are, how tall you are, and so on. so, if he really needs to see something, he can like... get right up close to it, I suppose.
because of this impairment ( and a dash of trauma lmao ), I'm hard-pressed to think he's willingly going to go anywhere without someone he knows and trusts escorting him, unless he wound up there by mistake. see: his theory for how he wound up where he is in the current abyss event, kinda just stumbled in here and got separated from the rest of the yaoqing squad.
the state of jiaoqiu's diet.
yeah, sorry, you can peel the spices out of his cold dead hands. lingsha's report insists on him cutting spice out of his diet for the sake of ongoing nerve damage, though at his age and with how little he really enjoys in life, it doesn't seem like he's taking her guidance 100% seriously. the hotpot text messages suggest he may actually be trying to branch out to more balanced ( and less exclusively spicy ) dishes, so perhaps he's cutting back, but not cutting the spice completely as ordered. also unlikely he'll stay out of the kitchen and away from knives, but maybe he'll ask for some help with that, too.
the state of jiaoqiu's overall wellbeing.
he'll be the first to tell you that he's already an old fox -- all of this is a little astounding, still being here at all. I don't think he planned on surviving to see if his efforts to cure feixiao with hoolay's heart were successful -- and though he says he's content and has no regrets with her non-answer to the status of her condition, I think that was said more for her sake than saying the truth of how he feels. a lot of jiaoqiu's dynamic with feixiao seems to have that in their history -- saying what needs to be heard instead of what is actually believed.
lingsha's report makes it sound like he's in about of good as spirits as he always is, which is to say: pleasant, polite, managing, eager to try some more food lmao. probably subduing some underlying pain with whatever he can put together himself and whatever the alchemists on the luofu think might help as well.
I think some small part of him realizes he'd be more content being gone and not knowing if hoolay's heart was the cure she needed, as opposed to this current reality: living to sense that it was the right cure, but it somehow... didn't work. and honestly, her not getting cured is probably the lesson his master intended all along; does failure make the last fifteen to twenty years at her side pointless? probably not.
but the whole issue of what his master wanted him to learn, oof....... that's a discussion for another day! and maybe another time completely. several months or even years from now.
I don't think the story of the yaoqing trio is over just yet, and I do think we'll see more of them in the future -- hopefully, with jiaoqiu's vision returning in full ( before he keels over of old age, that is 😉)

Nimona and Fatphobia
OK so for those of you who don’t know, they’re making Nimona significantly thinner in the movie version...
When she’s canonically plus-sized.
The original comic does a pretty good job with this, and avoids many commont ropes.
Still, I have some criticisms about size representation in the series as a whole, and I’ll get to those too.
Spoilers ahead.
Alos, tw for misogyny, fatphobia, racism, ableism, classism, eating disorders,
Before we start, a quick disclaimer:
I’m plus-sized, in the sense that this is the label that I think describes my size the best, and I have to get “oversized” clothes at Garage and my parents tried to get me to diet, so this was a big deal for me.
First...
First and most importantly: Size is not Nimona’s primary character trait.
She’s the main character of the series.
And this is something that’s such a big deal.
ND Stevenson himself said it in his earlier cartoon: The action comic industry is not so big on size representation.
In this comic, Stevenson critiques the way in which merchandise, posters, and the general culture of comics is very much misogynistic and portraying a very universally thin model.
The gendered sizing stereotypes and objectification come hand-in-hand. It’s the idea that women can only be seen as thin, busty objects of men’s consumption.
In any case, it’s the big deal that Nimona’s the main character.
She’s on the front cover of the book, the series is named after her, she’s the main character with arguably the most important role...
In any case, like this is the first thing I wanted to mention. While size representation is getting better, it’s usually a side character or two. But she’s the main character. I can talk about this alone for hours honestly.
2. Food
When I was reading Nimona again, I was worried because of the food tropes. I realized there was a running joke about pizza, and I was about to groan thinking of all the fatphobic comments that could come out of this.
But after actually reading this:
The joke isn’t about Nimona wanting food, it’s about her boss, Ballister, having nothing to eat in his fridge and having trashy taste.
He, dead-pan, says, “There are some genetically altered anchovies” Like what the hell is up with that?!
I actually think this is really awesome, as someone who struggled with eating disorders for a while.
I didn’t want another “The Whale” situation where the fatness was portrayed as a thing to be ashamed of, and directly caused by “junk food.”
Nimona sips soda without caring for calories, has cravings that’s treated as something to familiarize her with the audience, and it’s overall a good job.
3. Power
This isn’t Shazam, in which thinness is considered synonymous with power.
She’s always portrayed as lively, and strong, regardless of her weight. If she needs to transform, it’s never to do with weight, but to do with form and function. Which is honestly a lot more than I was expecting.
Criticisms:
Amount There really aren’t that any other main characters that are plus-sized. Like, there are a few minor ones with less than 10 speaking lines, but nothing too major. But the one character that is important is treated with respect that I wish more plus-sized characters have in media today.
Still, there are a few worth mentioning. This includes Tabitha, the apple-seller, and Tabitha’s friend (again, extremely minor character but better than nothing). Like, I thought it was nice to see too sorta-thick characters getting together and chatting. You know, just living life. I thought that was nice. Sometimes normalcy is a good way to go when we have trash like The Whale out there.
Also, there was this random person with two speaking lines (not loving the ableist and classist stuff, tbh though)
Of course, there’s also my favorite character in the series, Dr. Blitzmeyer, but I’m still angry that she was menat to be thicker in the sketches so I’m not including her :(
Look at that! She was thicc af before
There were a few more plus-sized folks in the book, but no one who’s actually major.
In all:
I wish there were more plus-sized characters in the original comics, but that doesn’t remove the fact that Nimona was handled extremely well, especially for a comic.

🍎🌞🌊🌧️!
I'm taking my Starwars DR cause I'm feeling most conected to it right now (I'll Post the script in the next days)
🍎
-pocket full of sunshine (see it as my DR-Selfs Theme Song)
-Soldier Poet King (cause it's playing in one of my favourite Scenarios)
-Diet Mountain Dew (cause I kinda see my S/O and me whenever I hear this song)
🌞
This is a spoiler for my script but the crowning scene, cause that is when I get the title of Highmastress (gonna explain it in my Script but just think of a Highmaster as The Real Shit)
🌊
Another spoiler that my DR is timed in the prequells
Anakin would be out Surfing with me and Devin after I forced him to the beach, cause he doesn't like sand.
Padmè would be building the biggest sand castle and quietly read a nook after that, as if she didn't just build a whole Palast with a swimming Pool and six balconys.
Obi-Wan would run around and male shure everyone used their sunscreen, while later having the bigest sunburn out of everyone.
🌧
So I scripted that the first person I'll talk to is my Best Friend Devin, and he is a little shit cause the Highmasters have ordered me in and he thinks I'm getting in trouble (ofc he would do everything to get me out of that trouble but he loves to see me suffer like that)
Soooo Yeah thats basically it thanks for asking! That was really fun🫶😁

Rambling About An OC:
Haven’t talked about them much, but since I’m in the middle of planning out a story cantering around them I should probably change that. Just gonna share some info about a Danganronpa OC that I have named Hoshi Fukumuto. There’ll be spoilers for the entire Hope’s Peak saga of DR, so more will be written under the cut!!
Let’s start with some basics…
Age: Early 20’s {around 23 years old}.
Gender: Non-Binary Woman {She/They}.
Height: 5’8 {173cm}.
Weight: 126 lbs {57kg}.
Blood Type: AB.
Date of Birth: October 23rd {Scorpio}.
Likes: Skateboarding, Caffeine {especially cola, coffee & energy drinks}, Drawing, Customizing Skate Decks & Collecting Shoes.
Dislikes: Diet Drinks {especially diet cola}, Mushrooms {is allergic}, Clowns {has coulrophobia}, Being Judged/Underestimated & Entitled People.
Special Notes: Head of Future Foundation’s 13th Branch {current}, Ultimate Skateboarder {former}.
In terms of her personality, Hoshi is someone who’s very confident {almost can be seen as cockiness}, very brave {not easily scared}, loyal {isn’t the type to ditch their loved ones easily}, easygoing, athletic {loves being active}, creative, hardworking, stubborn {can be seen as a good or a bad thing depending on context}, sarcastic {quick to respond with snarky comments}, incredibly reckless {when it comes to her own wellbeing} and adaptable amongst other things.
Currently, Hoshi’s the active head of the Future Foundation’s 13th branch. When she was enrolled at Hope’s Peak Academy, they were a member of Class 76 alongside Seiko Kimura, Ruruka Ando & Sonosuke Izayoi {who’d also become fellow Future Foundation branch leaders}. They were also in a close-knit friend group with a few members of Class 77-B, which included… Mikan Tsumiki, Hiyoko Saionji, Ibuki Mioda & Mahiru Koizumi {who she’d end up falling in love with}. After the girls & the rest of their classmates had been brainwashed/became members of Ultimate Despair, Hoshi was left devastated.
When Hoshi hears about Makoto Naegi’s plan to help the Remnants of Despair with the Neo World Program {NWP}, she’s immediately on board. They’re willing to do whatever it takes to help her best friends, the girl she loved & the rest of their classmates. Unfortunately after the events of SDR2, she & Makoto were charged with the crime of treason for protecting the Remnants. Hoshi does end up as a participant of the Final Killing Game alongside Makoto, the other FF branch heads & a member of her own branch Aoi Asahina.
That’s all I have to share with y’all for now. From here on out, I’ll probably share ideas/thoughts about Hoshi’s story on this blog. I’ll definitely put out a proper bio for them at some point too. If y’all have any questions about Hoshi {nothing gross}, then feel free to send me an ask!! I’m always down to talk about OCS & I’ve got a lot to say!!

I keep hoping things will get better. Still waiting on my car. It’s way too hot for no air conditioning. My emotions have been all over the map.
How do we find it in ourselves to keep pushing when we get punched in the face with something new everyday?
I am so tired of the emotional whiplash. I wonder if diet Dr Pepper and the 2019 club mix I am listening to will fix me. (Spoiler alert: no but it may cause an anxiety attack)

omitb s3e5 spoilers under the cut
mabel’s had an evil love interest, charles has had an evil love interest, oliver’s affection for loretta makes me suspect her more.
the purple joint… loretta knew, i bet she knew. since she said she was lying about all the reasons she didn’t end up auditioning for oliver’s previous plays, perhaps she has previously met him and become obsessed with him. after all, it turns out she was stalking ben, and ben claims she was obsessed with him.
hey it’s sue sylverster- i mean charles’ body double- i mean sazz! i’m doubting her as a suspect (considering that she wasn’t originally involved in the play), so it’s good to see her but pretty irrelevant to any theories (at present).
jonathan? what’s on the paper? what was in the envelope (i mean, probably money)?
ben’s doctor… Dr C… well, idk what to do with that info but i’m gonna keep it in my mind.
ben’s brother got mentioned again by loretta, im thinking he’s a suspect too (unless he’s just a diversion by loretta ofc). after all, he knew his brother’s weakness for cookies, and probably would’ve been the one responsible for not preventing the cookies from being there.
seems like the murderer is not kimber, not stalker guy, probably not tobert, probably not joy. we’re finally narrowing it down a little.
okay i have a loose theory for the night it went down… loretta and ben get into some kinda fight on the set as we see, probably about her disturbing notebook on him or just her obsession with him in general, loretta calls him a "fucking pig", charles intervenes and punches him which gives him a red mark. kimber sees him in passing. then ben gets back to his room and sees a plate of cookies that have been left for him, and starts yelling at them, which is the video from the dressing room that we see. since he’s already in a shitty mood, he soon breaks down and gives into his "weakness" for cookies. these cookies may contain the poison that mabel is theorising about. sometimes around now, ben calls joy in and gets his mark fixed up - she leaves her lipstick. in a foul, self-hating mood, ben writes "fucking pig" on his own mirror… could be because he realises he’s been a bit of a dick (i mean, he’s already said to charles how he can be a dick when he confronted him) and is repeating what loretta said to him, or it could be because he "pigged out" on cookies that he’s not meant to be eating on his strict diet.
thus, joy is indeed in the clear and loretta didn’t write that even if she is involved in some other way. additionally, ben’s brother might have put the cookies in the room, because he seems to be the main person who’s supposed to prevent ben from being around cookies. otherwise, someone else snuck them by him.
further speculation, this time with even more leaps taken lol: ben’s brother tried to poison him, gave up when he survived it, then loretta realised how good it would be if ben really was dead, and successfully kills him.
well, honestly, i’m starting to think that loretta is actually just a stalker but not a murderer. so idk. if she’s the murderer, then they’ve made it too blatant already and the shows not over. she might have done something though.

For most folks, when they fantasize about meeting a celebrity, it’s either the over-excited squee of a fan who will be thrilled with an autograph and maybe a photo, or it’s the X-Rated thoughts that will never happen, yet our brains go there anyway. My current celebrity fantasy isn’t a first meeting, I’ve met this person, and had scenario #1 (the squeeing was kept mostly internal). No, my fantasy is bribing Seanan McGuire with a bunch of Diet Dr Pepper, and then tying her to a chair sitting down with her, hooking my iPad up to a TV (better visuals) and going through my extensive timelines for both October Daye and InCryptid to get some answers and clear up my many notes about conflicting information. This may take days. I don’t even want spoilers. I don’t need ‘em. I just need to know for sure when the heck [insert character here] was born because I have 4 possibilities based off of different people’s accounts in the books. Oh, and I just want to chat in person without being rude to the 50 people behind me in line.
#she knows the timelines exist#i think she gets pleasure out of breaking me#cough backpacking through bedlam cough#i am exceptionally proud of my InCryptid family tree#this is me#Seanan McGuire

So my head tried to put this together.
In other words, or TL;DR: I agree and expanded my thoughts under the read more for people that want to read it and spoilers for everything involved here.
Ahsoka: Has Baylon Skol and Shin, two darksiders. Baylon is well spoken, but very clearly a darksider. If the narrative is trying to get me to agee with diet Kreia and his associate, then that's a fail because he doesn't say anything of substance. The less said about the Anakin apologia, the better.
Mando S3: Has the entire episode dedicated to the cloning doctor guy. Tries to end on a "The NR is exactly like the Empire, just with steps removed". It's stupid and doesn't work, but that's just me. The Acolyte: Many people like @nateofgreat and @short-wooloo have made the case for that one being put here. When the creator doesn't believe in the concept of good and evil in Star Wars, yet goes on to (as far as what my mutuals have said), make the Jedi look evil and the controlling witch cult/coven look good...? Yeah, no.
Tales of the Jedi: I rather think Dooku was someone that needed his ego and temper checked, but somehow I'm meant to see that the dude who would go on to literally start the Clone War somehow in some way has a point because he got passed up on a promotion? Also that BS with Anakin and Ahsoka's "training" in episode 5 can go straight to hell. I know @david-talks-sw and @gffa have a lot more to say then I do.
Tales of the Empire: Morgan Elsbeth is not an interesting character to me and never will be. I felt bad seeing the slaughter of the Nightsisters, but that evaporated upon seeing her fully embrace the Imperial lifestyle. Barris' parts were the good parts to me, and that showed just how awful the Inquisitors were.
Other than those examples, I can't think of anymore from stuff like Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Bad Batch, Visions, The High Republic, Andor, nor Jedi Fallen Order or Survivor. Please inform me if there's anymore.
And do correct me if I've gotten anything wrong. It's been a hot minute since I watched all of those and haven't seen The Acolyte at all.
is it just me, or is anyone else sick of all the new SW shows being about how the space fascists have a point, actually? 😑
#just so tired of stories about greedy assholes and the imperial era in general. so boring and bleak and like... *gestures at the world*#i certainly don't need more bleakness#can we get stories about good people?? trying their best? doing good things? for a change????#reblog#prev tags added#star wars#although#if they did have such a big crush on the empire?#Where's my TIE Fighter remaster or another Squadrons game?#I actually liked Squadrons but even with Titan Squadron#you were shown why they were the bad guys still even if they themselves didn't believe it#just my two cents!#agreed with the OP

The Diet Diatribe
I just had my annual physical with Dr M, an internist/palliative care doctor I love. She sits and faces me, not the computer, she talks about life in general and listens to me, she asks questions about my health and the family (spoiler – she’s a friend of the Bride and Groom). My doctor looks in my ears, listens to my heart and figures out what immunizations I need, like the pneumonia vaccine.…
