#tag talk#storytime sexcapades#sadness is canceled. met a really cute cool dude visiting town for work and stayed up all night talking and uhhh. other things.#I really am so ready to move. I wanna be in a college town with community music groups and a larger visible queer population ugh.#anyway. the more I experiment the more I realize I'm actually definitely trans and I would like certain bits lopped off 😕#I will literally never shut up about the connection between sex and gender. I'm sure there's some shortsightedness to it#because I'm speaking largely from my own experience with it. so obviously there's an implicit perspective bias there#but like. turns out when you're dissociated from your body it can be hard to enjoy certain body activities.#I'm mostly over showers now. it's way easier to see myself the way I want to be. still things I want fixed. but things are livable.#but yeh. sex is difficult when you're at war with your skin.#also. why do people do poppers. your head spin for a minute and you smell organic solvent for a while. my head spins all the time#like. “it's just like sniffing glue” bro why do people sniff glue I don't get that either“.#“it's like being drunk for a short time” I don't get why people do that either.#throwback to that time someone said I needed to not become an alcoholic and I just pointed to my four month old vodka bottle in the fridge.#idk. there's a use for it. alcohol is a CNS depressant and I love it for that. but only sometimes is that necessary.#anyway. I'm curious to try other substances but I fully expect to walk away going “eh. I don't get what the deal is with that”.#but we keep doing new things. for science. to learn about the world. and to become a more understanding person. understanding is everything#anyway. cool people do exist. I literally said that thing about not meeting people I like and the universe decided to be a joker about it#did I already say that we stayed up all night? sitting on the trunk of you car watching the stars on a warm desert night is a good vibe.#I like getting out of the city and finding a patch of desert to park in and just bathe in the night air. and it's better with company#the end. bye. I have an age of empires game to finish cause I paused it to go meet up with him. and now I have to finish it#ALSO. yeah I know.. vodka in the fridge. I've started putting it in the freezer just cause there's not as much room in the fridge

Incentive
Pairing: Joel miller x reader
summary: Ellie makes you convince Joel to not get back on the road yet, and you find a way to persuade him
warnings: just fluff with a slight allusion to smut
"pleasee he'll never say no to you"
You sighed "fine, but you owe me, kid"
"absolutely" Ellie nodded
You scowled at her one more time before turning on your feet, your eyes immediately finding Joel deeply focused on fixing some things in the truck bed.
You walked up to him
"Hey"
"hey" he glanced at you
"Whatcha doing?" you asked
" an inventory of our supplies"
"oh, cool" you lied, taking a step so you could sit on the edge of the trunk.
He looked at you suspiciously, somehow already aware of what was happening.
"I already told Ellie we can't stay here another night"
You bit your lip, internally cursing yourself.
How did he always know?
"Joel"
He was listening
"c'mon she's a kid, she's tired"
"I am too, but we gotta get to Wyoming"
"I know, but a day isn't gonna make a difference"
He was contemplating it, you could see the gears turning behind his eyes.
"we can't"
"Joel" you said, taking the can from his hand and setting it in its bag just to guide him in front of you "it's just one night" you shrugged, playing with the hem of his jacket "do it for her" you nodded to Ellie, and noticed with amusement as she pretended not to be staring when you both turned towards her.
"We would be wasting time"
"We should rest" you explained "You should rest" your index finger poked his chest
"I don't wanna rest, I wanna get to Wyoming"
"Hugh" you huffed, smiling a bit as your head fell to his torso in exasperation "you're so stubborn"
"why are you even helping her Y/n?"
You looked up at him, your chin still on him "she's so young, Joel, she's 14 for god's sake and she's seen so much already, the least we could do is show her the world is not only that shitty"
"by staying here another night?" he raised an eyebrow, skeptical
"yes" you smiled "and by maybe trying to act less like a grumpy 80-year-old all the time" you suggested, making him throw his head back with a sigh.
"y/n..."
"really? You're still not convinced after that amazing speech?"
"We really can't waste any time"-
An idea sparked in your mind, as you reduced the distance between you, your hands finding his core.
"I'll tell you what mr grumpypants" you smirked "If you agree to stay here another night, I'll make it worth your while"
He immediately got more serious, his eyes finding yours quickly.
You smiled at that reaction.
"How? She's always around"
"I could keep you company tonight while you keep watch"
"It's been a while" you added, and in that exact moment, as his mind wandered, surely imagining what you were proposing, you knew you had won.
"This is a one-time thing" he cleared out " tomorrow we're back on the road"
"of course" you nodded, biting back a grin as you stood up
"Thank you" you kissed him "she's gonna be really happy"
"well I'm gonna be too" he put his hands on your waist "I've missed you"
"mee too" you agreed, kissing him again.
"do you wanna tell her?" you asked
"no, go on" he gestured, and you shook your head
"You should be nice to her Joel"
"I am" he defended and you scoffed, turning to reach Ellie who was sitting on a tree branch.
"so?" she asked, hopeful, as she noticed you.
"we're staying here another night" you nodded with a smile
"yes!" she grinned "thank you" she took you by surprise as she stood up and hugged you, her tiny arms squeezing you tight.
"No problem Ellie" you reassured her as she took a step back
"how'd you even do it?" she asked " when I asked him, he was all like -no we can't waste time Ellie- and - you can sleep in the car Ellie- " she mocked him exaggeratedly, making you laugh.
"well" you glanced at him, trying to hide the smirk creeping on your lips "I guess I just gave him a little incentive"

Twilight- Mortality: Chapter Three, Date Night
(Alice X Reader X Jasper)
[Two] [Three] [Four]
[Warnings: Sexual topics(not much)]
[Filler chapter, doesn’t truly affect the storyline]
That night I ended up going home with Charlie, he drank a little too much to drive and I didn't want something happening to him. He was half asleep the drive home so I was glad when I made that decision. I got him to lay down on the couch and that's where he fell asleep.
After everything I fell asleep in my room. I knew if I stayed up I would have to deal with things I didn't want to. I took advantage of being a Hybrid. Sleeping away my problems was always my answer as a human and now I can do it again.
Very grateful for it too after I woke up to Alice and Jasper in my room going through my laptop. I sigh loudly, earning their attention. "You're awake." Alice announces, coming over to me and peppering kisses on my face. "Yeah, what's going on?" I ask, my eyebrows scrunched. "We got here early. Had nothing to do so we were just checking emails." Jasper tells me.
I raise a brow but honestly I don't care enough right now. I lay my head back down on my pillow. Alice straddling my waist, hugging my torso tightly.
I rub her back gently, going back and forth.
"Has the married couple said anything to either of you? Or anyone else?" I ask them, Jasper chuckles, shaking his head. "They are enjoying that honeymoon." He says, coming over and joining us on my bed.
I smile awkwardly, now just overly worried about my sister. Dying from vampire dick? What a way to go, but hopefully not the way Bella has to go out. Ugh.
I shiver in disgust at the thought.
"Rosalie and Emmett invited us to a double date." Alice suddenly says, Jasper and I look at her as she sits up, still straddling me. "Oh?"
"Yeah, I said we'd be there, it's later tonight." She tells us, I look back over to Jasper who has the same expression. Not very surprised but a little disappointed as it's our first night alone since having to plan the wedding and get everything done for that.
"It's as if we don't see them all the time." I joke, well kinda.
"It'll be nice, a relaxing night out."
"Where are we supposed to go out on a date? Four Vampires and Hybrid. You guys can't eat. We can't play a sport we will literally destroy whatever we play with unless it's baseball." I remind her, crossing my arms. "And I'm sorry but I genuinely do not want to play that." I tell her earnestly.
"You'll see." She gives me a smile that she normally does and here I am actually wishing that Edward was here so I could read her mind.
I also realized that my eye changing color thing wasn't brought up which if that means I have to go on a date for that to still not be a conversation. I will take it. She lays back down, her chest against mine. Jasper laid his head on my arm that he pulled out. I was like their heating pad or something.
I didn't mind it though.
"Swim wear?" I ask, stretching out my arms, checking myself out in the mirror. I was put into a one piece swimsuit with shorts over the top. Its not summer time though so I did not expect this. "Isn't it so cute. We match!" Alice gleams, showing off her bikini and then moving to show Jasper's swim trunks. We were all in black. Somehow all the same exact shade too.
I smile, nodding my head. "We look attractive." I tell her, then go back to looking in the mirror, flexing my arms. "When do we leave?" I ask her, still checking myself out. Noticing certain muscles pop out more with the bathing suit on. "Now actually, let's go." Alice takes both mine and Jasper's hand. It was already dark, it being 11 pm. I wonder if we're just going to the beach.
I purse my lips out trying to guess what we're going to do. We get into Jasper's new car, it being a convertible. I sit in the back, sprawling out dramatically. I notice him glance back to me, shaking his head with a small smile.
"Took you guys long enough!" I hear a voice shout behind us as we get our few things out of the car. We all look back to see Emmett with his arm around Rosalie. Both wearing swimsuits as well. Rosalie wearing a red bikini and Emmett wearing white swim trunks with red kiss marks all over it.
"We're not even late, it's thirty minutes before we said we'd come here!" Alice yells back to the buff vampire who just laughs in response. The couple hurrying over to us. "That's late." He rolls his eyes playfully but it bothers my girlfriend nonetheless.
"All right, all right, let's go have this stupid date." Rosalie attempts to hide her smile, dragging Alice by the arm. All of us following behind them. "What are we doing tonight?" I furrow my eyebrows as we go onto the sand.
"Didn't your lovers tell you, Hybie?" Emmett asks, nudging me. He watched as I didn't flinch. He does it often to see if my strength falters at all. Also with calling me Hybie ever since I turned into my wolf form in front of him. He knew I was a Hybrid, I mean obviously.
"No, obviously not bird brain." I nudge him back but purposefully a little hard causing him to stumble. "No need for the hostility." He puts his hands up in defense. "What ever, what are we doing?" I switch the subject with a smile.
"We are going to swim. Play a few water games." He winks at me, I give him a confused expression in return. "Water games?" I repeat back to him. He puts a finger up to my lips, shushing me. "I've said too much." He joins his girl along with my girlfriend. I stare at the back of his head still genuinely confused. I feel arms wrap around my waist and slightly lift me in the air. I squeal a tiny bit.
"Don't mind him, darlin. We're going to have a good time. No worries." He kisses gently at my neck, now both of us walking. "He... confuses me sometimes. I now know Rosalie can never get bored with that man." I snicker. As we get closer to the water, we get to this large blanket that has candles set up along with blood bags.
"It's our own makeshift picnic." Rosalie clasps her hands together.
"This is cute in a... way." I nod my head. "Let's dig in. I've been waiting for your ungrateful ass." Emmett plops down, grabbing a blood bag. My eyes widen but I begin to laugh. "Sorry." I mutter, Rosalie sits next to Emmett as Alice and Jasper sit on either side of me.
The waves are stopping just before the blanket, the moon was bright tonight. Brighter than the candles beside us. The temperature of the air wasn't bad either for it being autumn. It's been weirdly warm this November. It wouldn't matter to any of us even if it was super cold. "So, thoughts on the wedding?" Alice questions everyone. We all begin to chuckle. We could've figured that was going to be her first question. "I mean we set it up, it was beautiful." Rosalie gives a simple answer. "Exactly." I add in, taking a sip out of my blood bag. It would've been cooler if we put the blood in like wine glasses or something. "I mean like how it went with everybody that showed up. Idiots." She gently shoves me and reaches over to slap Rosalie.
The blonde and I make eye contact, trying not to laugh. "Oh wait before the questions begin, I brought something." Alice pauses the conversation, standing up and speeding off to the car trunk. She swiftly comes back with a bigger bag in it. "What is it?" I furrow my eyebrows, curious.
"Open it." She puts it down in front of us. I go to reach into it but Emmett beats me to it. He lifts out a bottle of wine. His face scrunches up in disgust. "Wine, seriously?"
"There's more." She motions. He goes to reach in but this time I shove him back. I take out a Jack Daniels and I mentally taste it from when I tried it as a freshman. Disgusted I put it down and take out two other bottles. Spirytus Rektyfikowany, a Polish Vodka that is harsh, so I've heard. And Everclear a pure grain alcohol. Both banned from most states. I widen my eyes but they're taken from my hands as Jasper and Emmett cheer. "Don't worry, we don't get hungover." I hear Rosalie say in front of me. "We do however, get drunk off our asses like any other being." Emmett smirks, taking the cap off of the Everclear and the Jack Daniel's. Taking a swig from both bottles.
I shake my head, opening the wine bottle. "Oh there's glasses in the bag." Alice stops me from drinking from the bottle, giving me a wine glass that I don't understand how it didn't break in that bag.
It also irritated me as I could've been drinking the blood from these glasses instead of a bag like a freak. Well either way we're freaks. But I could've been a classy one.
I pour the wine in mine and in one for Alice. Rosalie hands me her glass and I pour some into it, handing it back. "So answer my question now." My girlfriend waves a hand for us to start talking. "I had a blast. Those Wolf mutts are kinda cool. No offense Hybie." Emmett takes another drink of both alcohols. Passing the Everclear to Jasper. "Thanks, bird brain." I snatch the Jack from his hand and take a drink, roughly giving it back. I attempt not to gag but the taste brings me back to horrible memories.
"I had a chill time, nothing memorable." Jasper shrugs his shoulders, lifting up the bottle, I watch as some of it drips down his chin. He goes to wipe it but I stop him, licking it off myself. He hums in response, pulling me into a short kiss. I feel a tiny buzz but I know I haven't drank enough yet.
"I'd say the same thing, I also don't like what that marriage stands for." Rosalie huffs, drinking her wine, ignoring what I just did to Jasper. But I see Emmett smirking at the sight, his eyes kept on me. I give him the finger in an elegant way by scratching the side of my face as I drank the rest of my wine. He snorts.
"I feel you there, Rosie." I sigh out, "but I'd say I had a good time. Truly got to say goodbye to Angela really my only friend I made in high school." I roll my eyes, taking the Spirytus from the bag and opening it. Alice places a hand on my arm. "That's strong, be careful love bug." She gives a short smile. I give her a nod.
"Oh, I saw you with that girl, she had the glasses. Even with glasses to help her see she had her eyes fixed on you. I don't get it." Emmett roars into laughter. Alice glares at him, Jasper squints. He goes quiet but it's now him trying not to laugh. "Excuse me?" I smile, teeth showing. "She was so into you." Rosalie chimes in. "Yeah!" Emmett nods his head. He practically drank most of the Jack already. Splitting the Everclear with Jasper that's almost gone as well. He was swaying. Drunk.
"You guys think that?" I look at both of my lovers who agree with the other couple. "Hm, wouldn't have guessed." I smirk, licking my lips before taking a large drink of the Spirytus. "You already knew, didn't you?" Rosalie asks, finishing her second glass of wine, going to pour a third. I shrug my shoulders in response. Sipping some of the blood after that horrible alcohol.
"She was a good friend, didn't matter to me. I also have two loves of my life. I can't get too greedy." I lean back onto Jasper, and laying my leg over Alice.
It's been about two hours of us talking and joking around over stupid shit before Emmett stands up, having to use Rosalie to keep himself up. She lets him which surprises me. Drunk Rosie is definitely more calm. It's kind of silly to see. Her anger kind of disappears.
Alice is more handsy and Jasper is more vocal. Letting loose. "Last one to the water is... is a loser!" Emmett huffs out, about to use his speed but then trips and ends up falling into the water instead. Jasper gets up, laughing. Following behind but helps him up.
"Man, I think you're the loser." I hear my boyfriend say, laughing heartedly. Something I don't think I hear often. I smile, standing up. "You heard the man, don't be a loser." I kiss Alice swiftly. Running into the water.
The two girls don't rush into the water, only going in to their ankles. I go to say something to them but I get dragged under the water. Hands stay on my shoulders to keep me down. I open my eyes once I register what's happening. I put my arms back behind me and take the legs of my attacker. Lifting myself up, bringing them under water with me. I laugh as I finally reach the surface. Emmett stands up, his drunken self swaying still as before. "It's so on, Hybie." He murmurs, going to attack me again but I move out of the way. I'm definitely drunk but not as much as him.
"You missed!" I laugh out, easily blocking every attack. Splashing him so he can't see me. "Just give up, bird brain!" I yell at him, Jasper cheers me on. Telling me to just attack him. "Never." He huffs out angrily. His large arms almost get me but I get out of the hold quickly. Running over to Alice and Rosalie to save me. I get behind them. He slowly stands out of the water. Standing in front of them.
"Rosie, baby, move." He points, motioning for her to move over. She doesn't say anything but I can tell she made some sort of face for his eyes to soften. "Please, baby." He pleads with her. She sighs. Then in a quick motion I wasn't expecting to happen she pushes me over to him. Getting him to lift me up.
"Rosalie!!! You traitor!!" I screamed, flailing my body around. "I'm sorry!" She laughs back to me. "Oh don't worry, you're next!" I yell just as I get thrown under the water. For the next five minutes it's me and Emmett fighting with one another. Lifting each other up and down into the water. Our bodies repeatedly hitting the lake floor.
The others could feel every time our bodies hit it as well. Forgetting our strength most of the time.
"All right, all right. I'm dizzy." Emmett stops me from getting him again. I cross my arms. "Weak." I mumble under my breath. "What ever." He grumbles, shoving me away from him with a smirk.
After all the rough housing I climb onto Jasper, wrapping my legs around him. Alice and Rosalie were sitting in the shallow part of the water, talking about something as Emmett joins them. Laying his head on Rosie's lap.
I kiss Jasper repeatedly. "Did you have fun, darlin?" He asks me, I bite my lip, glancing back to our set up on the sand and then back to his face. "The most." I nod my head, kissing his lips once more. Jumping up a little bit to get a better position on him. He grunts a little. Holding me closer.
"Was this a distraction from something?" I quietly quizzed him. Laying my head on his shoulder. "No, just some fun before reality hits further." He kisses my neck sweetly.
I hum softly, squeezing my legs around him. "Don't start something right now. I can't hold back with this alcohol. I'll even do it in front of Rosalie and Emmett at this point." I whisper to him softly, nibbling at his ear. He snickers. "Looks like Alice is all for it." He whispers back and I throw my head back groaning. "Stop." I warn him.
"Seriously, you sickos." Rosalie yells at us. We look at her and laugh. "I wouldn't mind." Emmett shrugs his shoulders, his head still on Rosalie's lap.
"Gross, bird brain." I laugh.

Working a summer job wasn't the worst thing you ever did, by far but it wasn't exactly how you planned on spending your summer. Especially if the job in question was at the snack bar at the local community pool. You wanted to spend your summer lazing around towns and spending way too much time at your best friend’s house, not yelling at kids not to run around and trying not to melt under the scorching summer heat.
The job, though, even if it resembled largely your own personal hell most of the time, had its perks. First of all you had free entrance at the pool and the keys which meant that if you wanted to swim late at night you could and you were sure the owner didn’t mind. And second the lifeguard assigned to keep the little demons at bay was Christopher Bang, and he was dreamy.
It wasn’t like you and Chris went back but you two knew each other as you had a mutual friend, Lee Felix, who was probably the sweetest and kindest person you knew. The friendship between you and Felix was weird, he was a literal angel and you were the biggest people-hating person you knew, he loved the sun and hot weather and you hated light and suffered if the temperature went past 15°C; but he never pointed the differences out and he was one of the closest friends you had, except for Shuhua of course.
You were extremely thankful to Felix, and not only because he went past your discrepancies but also because he was the one who found you the job; thanks to him you were able to freely ogle at Chris with heart eyes and a slightly open mouth.
“God he’s so hot,” you whined. That day was particularly hot so Chris had discarded his tank top and was only in his trunks, basking in the sun. The sight was glorious.
“Can you stop drooling on a man? It’s embarrassing,” Shuhua sighed and kept fanning herself with a random newspaper you found behind the bar and gave her. Her and her girlfriend Soojin finally agreed to visit you at work after you complained for weeks about how excruciating it was to stay around little kids all day without support. She had been side-eyeing you all morning for simping like that for a man, insisting that it wasn’t very girlboss of you and you insisted back that you knew but he was different, he was actually nice, which earned you an even more sour look.
“Leave her alone, I’m sure you were like this when we weren’t together,” argued Soojin, looking fondly at the other girl.
“Oh my god, she was even worse and I had to sit through it all the time and of course I couldn’t say anything,” you agreed with Soojin which made Shuhua whine quite loudly.
“Excuse me miss,” a little voice interrupted your conversation, “ can you give me another ice cream?”
“I’m sorry sweetie, but you already ate two and your mother told me not to give you any,” you forced a smile. That kid came everyday and demanded all the ice cream and when the mother said no he threw one hell of a tantrum.
You tried to resume your conversation with the girls, hoping that the kid would spare you that day, but as soon as you turned the child started screaming and crying for ice cream. Like. Every. Damn. Day. Shuhua scoffed once again and looked at him with that one scary stare she always had.
“Kid, didn’t your mother teach you not to interrupt adult’s conversations?” by the tone of her voice you could tell that your best friend was really ticked off and not just pretending to make the kid quiet. You kinda felt bad for the kid, being on the other end of Shuhua’s annoyance wasn’t something enjoyable. At all.
While you were thinking about that time when you had fucked up really bad and Shuhua yelled at you, the kid sprinted towards the counter, grabbed your phone and then started running in the opposite direction.
“Are you fucking serious?” you mumbled to yourself. as fast as you could you got out of the little snack hut and tried to run after the kid, who was extremely fast and wasn’t wearing shoes which gave him better grip on the wet floor. However you were way taller than him and his little legs could only do so much, your hand started grazing his shoulder and you were already tasting victory when your forehead collided with a hard metal surface. The elevated lifeguard seat. Your luck couldn’t be any better. You fell backwards.
Your head hurt like a bitch, that pole was very sturdy even if it looked rusty. You closed your eyes, the world was spinning a little bit. You could feel people looming over you and faint shouting a bit more far away from you. Soojin and Chris were both kneeling beside your slumped form.
“Are you alright?” Soojin whispered worriedly. You groaned, the last thing you needed was a gigantic bruise in the middle of your forehead.
“My phone.”
“Shuhua went to get it, don't worry.”
A big warm hand gently patted your head and started brushing hair away from your face.
“Are you sure you're okay?”a male voice asked. Chris. Your eyes shot open. He was smiling at you and it was the sweetest smile you had ever seen in your entire life.
“Yeah,” you sputtered. Your whole body was on fire, and not in the good way.
Chris put his muscular arm around your shoulders and helped you sit up. The closeness between both of your faces was making your heart beat wildly.
“I'm going to get some nice, wouldn't want a bruise to ruin your pretty face,” he winked at you playfully.
Soojin raised an eyebrow at you but your mind had escaped your current body and was metaphorically running in a flower field.
Maybe the summer job wasn't that bad.
From that day Chris would always exchange small talk in the morning with you when the pool was quiet and the kids were still sleeping. Sometimes he would catch you staring and he'd send a wink your way paired with one of his adorable smiles which made you extremely flustered. Shuhua and Soojin insisted he liked you, you insisted that he was being nice because you had a mutual friend. But after what happened earlier that day you were starting to toy with the idea.
It was extremely hot and everybody was struggling except the kids that still ran around like it was any other day. The snack hut felt like a furnace but the shadow it provided gave you at least some protection. Chris on the other hand didn't look so good, he was wearing a cap to protect his head against the sun but the heat was getting to him and you could see that. Your hand instinctively flew to the small fridge behind you and grabbed an ice cold bottle of water.
The walk to the chair was agonizing, your nerves we're so taut that you could play violin on them. The universe though, must have not liked you getting close to that particular spit because once again he sent a kid against you. The blonde, giggly, snotty child ran into your brand new t-shirt (a cat shirt) ice cream first and then proceeded to smear it across the front of it.
“Hehe, sorry,” he giggled and then ran away.
“I like you shirt,” chuckled Chris, now in front of you. You decided to ignore his comment and handed him the bottle.
“It's really hot, you should drink plenty of water.”
He took the bottle and smiled again, that man was all smiles.
“Go to the staff room, you can wear my shirt, I have the tank anyway, I don't need it.”
You froze. You? Wear his shirt? Your brain was shutting down.
The staff room wasn't far but it was separated from the pool which meant you could freak out as much as you wanted. Chris' bag laid open on the bench in front of you, his shirt was neatly folded on top. It was a plain black shirt and it smelled of laundry detergent and baby powder.
“Oh my god, he's not stinky like other men, I love him,” you whispered to yourself while you admired the shirt.
Maybe you were starting to like your summer job.
When you told Shuhua about the shirt incident she was adamant he liked you but you were still very reluctant to believe that. She kept bugging you and insisting that you should ask him out and that he was definitely into you. But still, being the stubborn woman you were, you kept to yourself and the summer swiftly came to an end. The last day of the job had a bitter taste to it, how would you survive without your hot lifeguard to gawk at? You didn't know.
The pool wasn't open, you were only supposed to put all of the pool chairs inside and lock up.
It was hard work and it was still very warm but you were getting paid, so you had to do it. Chris had other plans, he sent you in the staff room to make “inventory” while he carried inside all the chairs.
Y/N:
He's taking the chairs inside all by himself
His muscles look so sexy
I'm feeling hot and bothered rn ngl
Shuhua:
Ew
Just fuck already
“I wanted to surprise you but it seems like you were the one who surprised me,” Chris chuckled from behind your shoulder.
The gasp you let out was inhuman. You were screwed. As a way to escape the situation you started to slowly back away from him, but soon your back hit the wall effectively trapping you.
“You think my muscles are sexy?”
You nodded slowly.
“Feel them then.” His warm hand gripped yours and gently guided it to his arm.
“Very impressive,” you stuttered trying so hard not to faint on him.
Chris had his eyes fixed on you, he had this look, dark and intimidating. It was hot.
“Can I touch you?”
“YES!”
Your lips met in a soft chaste kiss, it was almost innocent, but his hands wandered your body. He gripped and kneaded your flesh feverishly. His plump lips trailed down your jaw and stopped at your neck. His link tongue darted out to lap at the skin.
Your mind was clouded with so much pleasure from only his mouth on your neck that you didn't notice his hand had slipped past your underwear until he pressed on your clit lightly. He had made you gasp twice that day, but the second one was for a completely different reason.
You were so wet it was easy for him to slip his fingers inside you. You instinctively threw your head back and smacked it a little too hard against the tiled wall.
“Careful baby,” he groaned. His fingers slipped out of you and a whine escaped your lips but your voice got caught in your throat when you saw what he did next. He kneeling. In front of you. And looking at you like you were a goddess.
“We should go out sometimes,” he said while he yanked your shorts down.
You definitely loved your summer job.

“I’m leaving in the morning. Master says this is the last leg of my training, and she’s gonna take me to study in every nation of Teyvat. But… she says it could be years before we return.”
“You brought me all the way out here just to tell me that? I already know you’re leaving, you didn’t have to pull me away from training just to rub salt in the wound,” Kaeya huffed, looking like he was about to turn and leave.
“Wait, Kaeya,” you gasped, your eyes widening in surprise before you lurched forward to grab his wrist and stop him. “That’s not what I meant. I just… uh, I wanted to reminisce a little bit before I left. You used to always come out here with me at night when we were younger. What, you don’t like me anymore?” you huffed.
He didn’t say anything, but his expression seemed to soften, even if just slightly, so you smiled and tilted your head to the side. “So, did you get me a going away gift?” And then his expression fell again and you realized quickly you had said the wrong thing.
“Enough about leaving, I don’t want to hear it. I’ve spent enough time helping with your studies that I feel like I should’ve been invited too, but instead I’m finishing my training with the Knights, because I actually want to stay in Mondstadt!” he exclaimed, pulling his arm out of your grip in order to stalk off.
“Kaeya!” you yelled after him, sprinting the distance he’d already put between you so you could stop in front of him and put both your hands on his chest to stop him from walking. “Fine, fine, I won’t talk about… it. But, c’mon, you can’t just avoid me,” you said quietly, your eyes searching his for a moment, hoping for some sort of response, but still, he didn’t say anything.
“Tomorrow is my birthday,” you offered, still waiting for something. “We’ll both be 16 now. You’re already a Knight, one of the youngest, and my training is practically done. We’re pretty impressive, don’t you think?” you asked, offering him another tiny smile.
“Aside from my not having a vision,” he grumbled, and though the statement made you frown, his voice was enough to satisfy you. You moved your hands down to clasp his hands in your grip and pulled him backwards to the small clearing you’d started in.
“Why does that matter? Everyone else is impressed with you. *I’m* impressed with you. You just have an issue with yourself,” you responded, sitting down carefully on the top of a flat stone. You’d pretty much grown up together in the Whispering Woods; sneaking out to this exact clearing several nights a week to lie on your backs to talk while you practiced with your weapons or studied by lantern light. Nothing much had changed about it aside from some overgrowth of the shrubbery and the gradual growth of the trees whose trunks were twisting beautifully along the outskirts of the area.
“What type of Vision would you even want?” you asked, patting the spot next to you to beckon him over.
Kaeya sighed but relented his stoic pose and chose to sit beside you. “Probably Anemo, just because anyone with an Anemo Vision in Mond is treated like a celebrity.”
“Oh, c’mon, that’s no valid reason. You’re already treated like a celebrity, plus that means we’d hardly be able to fight together. Dendro doesn’t react with Anemo,” you complained.
“You probably should’ve thought of that before you got all into nature,” he retorted. “Besides, you hardly fight to begin with, so what’s it to you?”
“Well, I think we make a good pair, don’t you?”
He seemed to contemplate his answer for a moment, causing you to gawk at him before you nudged your elbow into his side. “Please, I know you don’t have to think about it that hard,” you whined, then scoffed when he started to laugh.
“Fine, fine, we do make a good pair,” he acquiesced. And really, you were. Sure, he and Diluc made good brothers and they were the talk of the town, but you and Kaeya had an easy friendship. When Diluc got his Vision and went on to join the Knights, even becoming the Cavalry Captain, you and Kaeya were left to your own devices.
When a moment passed and you had yet to say anything else, Kaeya’s eyes flickered over to look at you, only to find you staring at him tearfully.
“Hey, hey, hey, what are the tears about? I already said I agree!” he said incredulously, but you just shook your head.
“It’s not about that. I just… I’m gonna miss you. I know I said we wouldn’t talk about me leaving but it’s happening and I don’t know how long I’ll be gone and I’m gonna miss you, okay! You can’t blame me. I just feel like I’m going to miss out on so much and I know I wanted this, I know I’ve been training for this for years but it doesn’t mean I won’t miss Mondstadt, or my friends, or you! So can’t we talk about it?”
You were expecting some sort of response, or most likely that he would just up and leave again. He was never the sentimental type, even though you and Diluc were the only two people he’d be the most open with, so topics like this weren’t common when you were alone together. You figured a part of his hesitation to hear about your upcoming journey was due to jealousy, or perhaps he was having a hard time with the idea of you leaving. But however you were thinking he would react, none of them aligned with him grabbing both your cheeks and pulling you in until he could slot your lips together.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” was the first thing he said after you both pulled apart, “because I’ll miss you too. I’d rather wake up and have you already be gone than deal with an impending sense of doom. I… I don’t want you to go, but I want you to do what you love and see the whole of Teyvat, even if it means leaving behind someone else that you might… love,” he said quietly, looking away.
“You haven’t kissed me in a while,” you answered, to which you received a scoff and a flick to your forehead.
“That’s your answer?”
“Hey, I didn’t say I was done!” you huffed. You were silent afterwards for a minute, the only sound being the whistle of the wind through the trees. You placed your hand on top of one of his, still gently cupping your cheek, before you finally spoke. “It’s not like I’m never gonna come back, or forget you, or any other impossible thing you might be thinking of. Before anything else, you’re my best friend, and when I come back, you’re the first person I want to see and you’ll tell me everything I wasn’t around to witness. You’ll show me your Vision, which will hopefully react with Dendro, and you’ll be the captain of some brand new division of the Knights and maybe I’ll even join like they’re begging me to. Maybe… maybe we’ll be together, when we’re older and better and… I’ll come back. No matter how long it takes, I promise.” You kissed him again, albeit briefly, before you wrapped both your arms around his waist and pressed your cheek against his shoulder.
“Fine, then. I’ll be waiting.”

“Earth to [name], are you there?”
With Amber’s voice breaking you out of your thoughts, your eyes widened and you turned to look at the young Knight apologetically.
“Sorry, there’s just… So much has changed. You’re all grown up now, look at you, an outrider. I’m surprised you even recognized me, it’s been so long. I would love to stay and talk but I promised my master I would report to her as soon as I got back. Maybe I’ll see you tomorrow during the festival and we can catch up!” you said gently. “In the meantime, take good care of… I’m sorry, you said your name was Collei?” you asked, glancing towards the younger girl standing just behind the Knight. Upon receiving a nod, you smiled again before you left the two girls to continue walking past the front gates.
The city was particularly busy, which you were sure mainly had to be attributed to the eve of Ludi Harpastum, but there also seemed to be some sort of underlying tension which you couldn’t quite pinpoint. However, your first concern was meeting your master, who you hadn’t seen in 3 years, before you caught up on everything you’d missed out on. Your master had traveled with you for the first two years of your journey, but had deemed you capable enough of continuing the journey alone. Still, you certainly hadn’t planned on being gone for another 3 years. However, your time alone had marked the true beginning of your career. You’d made a name for yourself in the beginning with the aid of your master, but as you conducted your own field studies in each nation and began to publish your work, your journal eventually garnered its own renown, to the point that you had received invitations to study with scholars from the Akademiya or offered funding from the Fatui to submit your research to them exclusively. With the amount of people begging for your attention, it was only recently that you found the opportunity to return to your beloved homeland.
“[name]?”
You stopped again when you heard someone else say your name, and turned until you found the source of the voice.
“Jean? Lisa?” you asked, as if you couldn’t believe the appearances of the two in front of you.
“It’s Master Jean, actually,” Lisa suggested, to which you gaped before looking towards the blonde once more. “What do you mean? Where’s Master Varka?”
“It seems a lot of our letters didn’t reach you, even though we got wind of all your publications. Very nice work, by the way. There’s a section in the library with all the volumes so far,” Lisa added with an amused hum.
“Master Varka left Mondstadt on an expedition, so I’m Acting Grand Master for now. Lisa’s right, it seems there is a lot for you to catch up on. We actually have a bit of a problem we need to attend to…” Jean said, glancing towards Lisa momentarily. “But tonight, if you’re not too tired and you don’t have plans, we can meet in the library, have some dinner and tea?”
“Oh, I’d love to, and that works out, I have to meet with my master now anyways, so I will see you both later!” you said cheerfully, bowing your head before turning again and continuing towards your master’s house.
Your meeting was rather brief, with your master mainly offering her congratulations and asking you about the various details of your journey that you hadn’t elaborated on in your letters, while you tucked your belongings away until you could move them into, hopefully, a place of your own.
“By the way, dear, I suggest you confer with the Knights soon about possible research opportunities so you could stay home for a while,” your master suggested, after you finally sat in front of her at the tea table again. “I’m sure you could talk to that Knight fellow you were always with before we left. Kaeya, was it? Have you seen him yet?”
You clasped your hands together firmly and shook your head quickly. “I, uh, haven’t. Haven’t gotten the chance to speak to anyone even if I have bumped into them. But I’m apparently meeting some friends later so I suppose I’ll catch up then.”
.𖥔 ݁ ˖๋ ࣭ ⭑
“So have you seen Kaeya yet?”
You were dreading this question from the moment you saw the twinkle in Lisa’s eyes. For some reason, the tea and dinner you’d been promised had turned into poring over some nondescript research in the library with Lisa, Jean, Amber and the mysterious Collei.
“No, actually. Nor have I heard anything from him in 3 years. I assume there’s a lot I must have missed if he’s the first thing everyone wants to ask me about,” you huffed as you turned over the page you’d been reading. They’d caught you up quickly on the most recent events regarding some Fatui diplomats, as well as Varka’s expedition and some other changes within the Knights, but it also felt like there was something they weren’t saying yet.
“Well, uh,” Jean spoke this time. “Around that time, there was something that happened he most likely didn’t want to write to you about.”
.𖥔 ݁ ˖๋ ࣭ ⭑
“Diluc!” you exclaimed as soon as you stepped foot into the tavern.
“[name]?” he said quizzically, upon raising his gaze from the glass in his hand.
“Yes, yes, it’s me, I just got back this afternoon. Um, I want to say…” you looked around for a moment. There were a few patrons still milling around the bar and there was a familiar bard cloaked in an ugly green outfit who seemed to be singing drunk in the corner, but otherwise there was no one at the bar and no one to eavesdrop. “I’m sorry for your loss. I know I’m three years too late, but I’ve only just found out and I’m very sorry about your father,” you told him earnestly. “Jean told me you went on your own journey, too. Even quit the Knights. So I suppose we both have some catching up to do.”
Diluc was quiet for a moment, but eventually he gave you a small smile and ducked his head in acknowledgement, before he paused again and seemed to hesitate.
“Has Kaeya spoken to you about anything, by any chance?”
You felt like you wanted to throw the polished glass against the wall. “No, I’m sorry, I haven’t even seen him yet. Feels like I’ve seen everyone else in the whole city though. I might as well meet Barbatos at this point.”
“Master Diluc,” you heard a hiccup from somewhere next to you and looked to the side to catch sight of the green bard. “Another glass, please,” he said cheerfully.
“Anyways, Diluc,” you started again as he begrudgingly poured another glass. “I’ll see you tomorrow during the festival.”
.𖥔 ݁ ˖๋ ࣭ ⭑
“[name]! Have you by any chance seen Collei?” a breathless Amber asked, to which you squinted at her and shook your head.
“No, I actually just got down here, I was talking to Albedo for a while. Why? Is something wrong?”
“There shouldn’t be. But Sir Kaeya sent me on a hunt for one of those contraptions we were studying last night and now I can’t find her, and she’s not particularly good with crowds. Would you mind helping me look for her?”
“Oh, uh, of course. Leave it to me,” you said firmly, before you threw a longing glance towards the waning festivities.
.𖥔 ݁ ˖๋ ࣭ ⭑
“Sir Kaeya!” Amber’s voice echoed down the empty stairwell, meanwhile you could not muster a single sound. By the time you made it down the icy stairs, Amber had already landed in front of Collei to shield her from Kaeya.
You weren’t sure if anything you were seeing was right, and you didn’t know if you knew enough about the entire situation to form an opinion on it, but you were pretty sure that Kaeya had drawn his sword on a child. A heated argument came and went before your eyes, and you had yet to say anything. At some point, Amber swept Collei away and left you and Kaeya in front of each other amidst the frigid air.
The man in front of you said nothing yet, just tucked his sword away before he crossed his arms and seemed to look at you expectantly.
“I got back yesterday,” you offered.
“I know.”
“Everyone was asking me if I’d seen you.”
“And what did you say?”
“Well, I said no. I wasn’t sure if you even knew I was in town.”
“I did.”
You pretended those two words didn’t sting, and just lowered your gaze to the floor in front of you.
“A Cryo Vision–” you started again, but were cut off.
“I stopped waiting three years ago when your master came home without you. She told me you chose to keep going, even after she told you that your training was complete. You promised in all your letters before that, that you were going to be back soon. And then… you didn’t come back. So I stopped waiting, and I stopped writing. I figured I just wasn’t worth coming back for, or worth keeping a promise to. So yes, a Cryo Vision. I know it doesn’t react with Dendro, but I’m not sure we ever made a good pair to begin with,” Kaeya said, without so much as a waver in his voice, before he turned and left, and this time you had no reason to get him to stay.

WIP Wednesday (11/13) | Vampire Andrew AU (Part 198)
"Well, we won't let you go under." Nicky says with a semi-convincing smile before going to get in the car. The others are already in their spots.
"Not without concrete shoes." Neil mutters under his breath. It's just the two of them now. Andrew flicks his cigarette towards the bushes.
"After you, drowning man," Andrew says, gesturing to the backseat. He thinks— no, he knows— he can handle sitting next to Neil tonight.
"I'm sitting between you?" Neil asks stupidly.
"Unless you'd rather be stuffed in the trunk." Andrew says, thoughtfully. "You know, I think you'd fit rather nicely. Want to try?"
"While it would probably be more comfortable, I get trunk-sick." Oh, he’s funny tonight.
"Then get in," Andrew tells him. "We haven't got all night. The place closes at two."
Neil looks a little like he wants to make a break for it.
"You know Neil, I already told these clowns about your secret stash and they took it pretty well all things considered. How do you think the upperclassmen will take it?" Andrew muses. "I think they'd probably demand to know what the money's for. At the very least, they'd be disturbed by the Kevin shrine. I know I was."
"It's not a shrine." Neil says, looking down at his feet.
"Is it not? There were dozens of photos of him in there. Should I go upstairs and get it to show the others?"
"If you break into my room again I’ll kill you." Neil hisses so low the others won’t hear. Oh, so funny. Andrew grins.
"Alright then. Let's go." Andrew once again waves a hand at the car but Neil refuses to budge. And now Andrew's about to lose his patience. "Neil, you're getting on my nerves."
"Well, you're kidnapping me so I think we're square."
"It's not kidnapping. You agreed to this."
"I was blackmailed into it."
"Potato, tomato." Andrew shrugs.
"That doesn't even make sense." Aaron says from the backseat, leaning to look at them. ‘Get him in the car already, Andrew.’
"$101,398." Andrew says, making Neil go still. "Lenses in the color ‘dark chocolate’. L'Oreal Ultimate Black #1. Twenty-eight photos of Kevin, nineteen including Riko because they were attached at the hip. All of this I could sort of understand. But what are the numbers, Neil?"
"What numbers?"
Andrew begins to recite the digits on Neil's coded page and all the blood drains out of Neil's face. Andrew only gets to the second line before he manages, "What the fuck?"
"Yes, that's what I'm wondering.” Andrew asks softly, just for Neil. “Is it a coded message? Was it written by you or for you? It didn't look like your handwriting, now did it? No, too feminine. So it was a woman, hm?”
Neil's heart is stumbling over itself so Andrew has definitely hit a nerve. He pulls out a jackhammer and continues prodding, hoping to break him.
“But what was she writing? Instructions? A love letter? A poem about a strange man covering up his natural looks? We'll never know unless you tell us, Neil. Let us in on your secrets and maybe I'll let you stay here and hide in your dorm. What's it going to be?"
Neil just stands there, pale in the face with a rabbit’s heart.
“Guys, come on. Let’s gooooo,” Nicky whines.
"Tick-tock, Neil.” Andrew says, moving a finger to and fro like a metronome. "You're going to make us late. I hate being late."
“You know what? I don’t care. And my binder is none of your business so fucking bite me." Neil spits out. And everyone in the car turns to look at them with horror. Neil's got his back to them, but Andrew grins.
"Careful what you wish for, Neil." He says gravely. "Now get in the goddamn car before I put you in it."
Neil doesn't say anything more. Defeated, he climbs into the backseat. Andrew gets in beside him and finally, they start for Columbia. Andre keeps his face tucked into his shoulder and stares out the window, trying to ignore the warmth of Neil's thigh pressed against his own. Stupid weirdo human with his stupid warm blood and his stupid locked-up mind.

New snippet from my writing!
Diary of Paul Killarney, November 1st, 1994 (cont'd)
By the time I was ready to leave the village, blue twilight had crept in among the trees. White fog wandered up from the nearby valley and the trees rustled in the wind. I shivered on my way to the car. Susan, darling, why did you want to be laid to rest here?
It was strange, but I almost felt watched in the parking lot. When something cracked in the thickets surrounding it I jumped, but then I saw it was merely a hare and breathed a deep sigh of relief. Its blue eyes hypnotically stared at me before it jumped off into the night.
Since when do wild rabbits have blue eyes?, I wondered. Eh, probably a trick of the light.
The Dog calmly trotted after me, unfazed by our surroundings. When I opened the car door he jumped onto the passenger seat and remained sitting there, his head curiously tilted.
I put my backpack into the trunk, climbed into the car, fastened my seatbelt and turned the key. Nothing happened. I frowned. Turned the key again. The engine stuttered, groaned, then suddenly died. I blinked. Well. Susan had had the other car when she'd left that night. I had no idea where it was right now. Probably being investigated as a crime scene in some police station.
Sighing, I got out of the car. The Dog followed, wagging his tail. For a moment I just stood in the parking lot, the trees rustling above me, and felt profoundly unsure where to go from here.
The house there on the edge of the forest, I suddenly recalled a bone-chilling, absurdly timeless voice say. If you squint you can kind of see it.
I hesitated, glanced over at the house in the dark, the window emitting a warm orange glow.
I mean, what could go wrong?
Shivering, I wrapped myself in my coat, took my backpack out of the car, locked it and began to make my way towards the house on the edge of the woods. Strangely, the Dog followed me like he knew exactly where we were going.
“You've been here before, haven't you?”, I asked him. “Here with your old friend. I wonder what stories you could tell me if you were human. I bet you've seen a lot.”
The Dog tilted his head and his too-intelligent eyes glinted in the sparse light. At first I thought he was growling, but then I realized it was more of a low purr. Then he brushed past my leg, and ran towards the house. He stopped at the doorstep, wagging his tail, and I sighed. I just couldn't understand this thing.
I rang the doorbell, my fingers numb from the cold. After a minute or two, the door suddenly opened.
Rory glanced outside, seeming confused. He was wearing a hand-knitted green sweater with a bird pattern on it and looked like he had prepared for a cozy evening. “Oh.”
“Sorry to bother you.” I awkwardly scratched my neck. “Uh, my car broke down and the last train home is already gone and I don't really know anyone here except you.”
Rory smiled. “Oh, no problem, come in! You can stay for the night.” - I entered the house and he closed the door behind me.
“I don't want to bother you…”
“No, no, it's totally fine.” His constant grin unnerved me just a little bit. “Probably gonna be a more exciting evening if I don't spend it alone again. The coat rack is over there, and you can take your shoes off or leave them on, whatever you like. I made biscuits, would you like some?”
“No, thank you.” I awkwardly hung my coat up and followed Rory into the living room. He peeked outside the window while I sat down onto the green plush sofa.
“It's probably gonna rain soon,” Rory commented. “I had a pretty grisly injury back in 1973, I can feel the weather change ever since. Worst superpower of all time.” He laughed. “Would you like some tea?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “Sure.”
“Excellent.” He hushed over to the kitchen. While he was busy heating the kettle, I got up and began pacing around the living room.
The wallpapers were floral and faded, 1950s style. The plentiful shelves were painted moss green and filled with memorabilia of all kinds.
Rory glanced over at me. “Interesting, isn't it? Some of it belonged to the previous owner of the house, I just thought it'd be a shame to get rid of it. The wallpapers too. She had good taste, I have to admit. Lived here from 1936 to 1967, until she suddenly passed away.” He walked over to the sofa and put two chipped cups onto the table. “Tea’s finished. Sugar?”
“No thanks.” I returned to my seat and I took a sip of the tea. It tasted surprisingly well. The Dog came over, his tail wagging, and put his head on Rory's knee. The man laughed. “Aww, you missed me?”
“I have to admit - I can't believe the Dog acts this way around you,” I began and Rory glanced up. “I mean, he never listened to anyone but Susan and with you he's a downright darling.”
“You just gotta treat him right.” Rory scratched the Dog's ear. “He likes his dignity.”
Soft rain began tapping against the window glass like fingers. Rory sat up and raised his head, in some odd way regal as a long-necked heron, but with his hair covering his eyes it was impossible to tell his expression. It unnerved me.
He smiled. “Ha, I was right.”
“Hm?”
“About the rain.” He limp-wristedly waved towards the window.
“Oh.” I leaned back into the sofa, trying to distract myself from how tense I was. “So, how long have you been living here?”
“Oh, since 1970.” He was smiling a little wider again and I shivered. “The house was left desolate for a while after the previous owner's death and, you know, it looked intriguing.”
“Intriguing? How so?”
“There’s a history in these walls, you know? Someone has lived and died here for over a hundred years, over and over and over. You can feel it, I think. You can feel that it's alive in some way. At some point the house becomes its own inhabitant, and the inhabitant their own house.”
“What, you think the house is haunted?” I laughed.
Rory tilted his head. “That's an interesting way to phrase it. Maybe. By memories.”
For a while we just sat in the living room, drinking tea. The rain drummed against the windows and the orange light flickered. The Dog had wandered off into the other rooms and Rory had let him. The familiarity between the two was odd, almost like old friends that had drifted apart over the years, but never quite let go of the bond between them.
“How did you and Susan meet, if I may ask?” Rory leaned forward, putting down his chipped teacup.
I chuckled melancholically. “Oh, that was a funny story.
It was raining the night we met. I was on the train, going home from some outing with friends I've long lost touch with, somewhat drunk, but sober enough to realize the extent. The train was completely empty, and all you could see outside was blackness, only occasionally interspersed by the lonesome lights of a train station, and all you could hear was the hypnotic clacks of the train, and the greenery scraping against the windows like hungry ghosts.
I was, as I mentioned, drunk, and in the dark all the stations looked the same, so when I got out and discovered to my dismay that my stop had been twenty minutes ago, I didn't quite know what to do with myself. For the moment, I just sat down on a bench at the train station, and stared at the rain falling from the black sky. The station was on a hilltop, and through the rain, you could see the sleeping villages, the trees, and way in the distance, a lake in a valley.
“Beautiful night, isn't it?”
I flinched and turned my head. A young woman was standing on the other side of the station, a huge, three-legged dog at her feet. I had no idea how long she'd been standing there, or how long I'd been sitting here.
“Huh?”, was all I could say.
She shrugged and walked over to the bench, hands in the pockets of her corduroy pants. The Dog followed like a watchful shadow, his white teeth glinting in the barely existent light. “I said it's a beautiful night.”
“Oh.” I didn't know what to say. “Yeah. Kind of.”
“Are you here for the view too?”, she asked.
“Uh, no.” I awkwardly ran a hand through my hair, unsure what to say. “I…may have gotten off at the wrong stop.”
She laughed and something about her laugh chased a shiver down my spine. I had never heard such a beautiful sound in my life. “Happens.”
“How about you?”
“I always come here when it rains.” She sat down next to me. I could smell the scent of her brown leather jacket and when I glanced at her I saw that despite her youth, her blonde hair was full of silver strands. “For the view. You see the lake over there?”
“In the valley?”
“Yes.” She smiled. She had a smile that showed her gums and it was oddly endearing in the moment. “There's a house by that lake. I used to live there.”
I squinted and barely saw the white outline of that house. It was a tiny dot in the distance, like a faraway star, and yet the sight of it made me shiver.
The girl turned her head and glanced at me. “I'm Susan, by the way. You?”
“Paul.”
“Nice to meet you, Paul.” She smiled. And that was that.”
Rory smiled. “Sounds like her. You know, it was raining when I met her, too. Funny, isn't it?”
I smiled.
“I suppose so,” I said.
What I didn't say was: On the 271st night we met (I counted every single one of them), when I finally got down on one knee, she finally turned to me, her eyes big and sad and shiny.
“You do realize you will never be the love of my life, don't you?”, she asked. “I just wanted to say it before I break your heart. Because mine is in that valley and that's where it stopped beating. You're standing before a dead girl, and dead girls cannot fall in love.”
“I don't care,” I whispered and shook my head. “As long as you stay in my life.”
She blinked slowly. Then she slowly ran her cold fingers across my cheek.
“Don't say I didn't warn you,” she whispered and kissed me.

———————————————————————
It's Black Friday morning. Austin, Victoria, & Ashley go out to The Grove, which is an outdoor shopping center.
It's all decorated for the holiday's; Christmas music plays in & outside of every store. It's Victoria's favorite time of year.
"So, what are we shopping for? Or who, I should say." Ashley asks.
"I'll be shopping for my family, Mila, Ashton, and the baby. I know she won't be here for Christmas, but if I see anything on sale that I like, I'm getting it." Victoria says.
"What? Not buying for me?" Austin asks her.
"I mean, I will, but not today. Can't buy for you while you're with me, Aus."
"We should stop into Pottery Barn Kids & look at furniture for the nursery." Austin mentions.
"Oh, definitely. We haven't even decided on what we want yet though. Like a color scheme or a theme."
"Do you have any ideas?"
"I was thinking maybe an accent wall with floral wallpaper, and the walls being a color to match the wallpaper. Probably like a baby pink or something. White furniture."
"I like that. Let's go see what furniture they have."
The three of them headed into Pottery Barn Kids and started taking a look at everything they had.
"Vic, do we want a bassinet or a crib?" Austin asks.
"Um, I'd say for the nursery, we get a crib, and a bassinet for the bedroom. She'll be sleeping with us in the bedroom for the first six months or so."
"With us? Like, me & you? In the same bed?"
"Maybe the first few nights we'll do that while she gets accustomed to being home. We can get a portable bassinet, take turns on who gets her during the night, and we can transfer the bassinet back & forth from my room to yours."
"Yeah, that would work. Especially if we both have relationships, we'll want nights off to spend with said relationships."
"Exactly. You think you might find someone?"
"Maybe. You never know. I might start looking, but if it happens, it happens."
Vic nods her head in agreement.
"Good. Maybe he's moving on from me." she thinks to herself.
"Do we like this bassinet? It's on wheels and seems pretty basic. We don't need anything too fancy." Austin asks.
"Yeah, I like that. Seems perfect to me. Do we want to buy the stuff today and take it home, or order it?"
"Uh, we can order it. I don't think I'd have enough room in my trunk to put everything."
"Okie, that works. Let's take pictures of everything so we know what to order."
They go over to the furniture sets and right away Victoria spots a dresser/changing table she loves.
"Austin, look at this one! I really love the gold handles on this."
"Oh yeah, that's sharp. I like that."
"Let's just get this one then with the matching crib, which is 4-in-1?! Woah. That's so worth it. She can have this like her whole life if she wants to. Eventually she'd just make this into a bed."
"Bab-Vic, let's look at the others before settling." Austin almost called her babe, but caught himself before he did.
They continue to look at the sets, but nothing was speaking to them more than the 'Ava' set.
"Are you good with the 'Ava' one? Or do you want the 'Larkin' one?" Vic asks.
"I'm good with 'Ava'. I really like those handles too. What do you think, Auntie Ash?"
"I think it's a good choice." Ashley says. "I love the handles too. It's different."
"Alright, furniture is picked out then! What about a rocking chair?" Vic says.
"Oh yeah, let's look at those."
Victoria sits in one and practically melts into it. "Oh my god. Good luck getting me out of here. This is too comfy."
"Let me try it, Vic." Austin says to her.
"Okay, but you're gonna have to pull me up."
Austin grabs onto her hands and pulls her up.
"Already getting hard to get up?" Ashley asks.
"Sometimes, yeah. Depends on the seat. Also it's just really comfy & he'd have to pull me up anyways or else I'd just stay there for awhile."
"Okay, yeah. This is super comfy. Goodnight." Austin jokes, making himself comfortable, stretching his legs out onto the ottoman the chair comes with.
"I think that should be it. We'll look online at everything else and add it to our registry when we have the wallpaper & paint picked out."
They headed out of Pottery Barn Kids, and hit up some clothing stores to get some family members some gifts.
"I have to stop into Victoria's Secret to get some new bras. The girls are filling up with milk and are getting bigger. Also want to get some perfume for Mila." Victoria mentions.
"I'll go in with you. I should get some new panties." Ashley responds.
"I'll go into Barnes & Noble while you're doing that." Austin says.
"Alright, want us to meet you in there?" Vic asks.
"Yeah. I can kill a lot of time in there, so take your time. I'm sure it's hectic in there so it'll be awhile."
"Okay, sounds good."
"I'm going to drop my bags off in the car. Want me to take yours?" Austin asks the both of them.
"Yes, please." the girls say in almost unison.
Austin takes the bags from them and heads out to the car to drop them off, then heads to Barnes & Noble.
He starts at Starbucks inside the store, getting himself an oat milk latte before walking around the store, seeing what new books he could find.
He picks up a book he's been wanting to check out, "City on Fire" by Don Winslow, a couple others before heading over to the parenting books.
A worker stocking shelves in that section, female, average height, medium length blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and freckles, wearing a white button down with jeans, notices Austin looking intently into the back cover of one of the most popular parenting books.
"That's a good book, by the way. I mean, I assume so. It's a best seller in this section." the girl says.
"Oh, really?" he looks over to her.
"Yeah." she chuckles. "I've cashed out a few of those & have restocked it a couple of times."
"Well, I guess I'll get this one. I have one already, but wanted something different, that more goes over every little thing. The one I have is just super basic info. Thanks for the advice."
"No problem. I'm Juliet, by the way."
"Austin. That's a beautiful name for a beautiful girl." he holds out his hand to shake hers.
Juliet blushes, "Thank you. I thought that's who you were. Butler, right?"
"Haha, yeah. That's me."
"It's nice to meet you." she smiled.
"Nice to meet you, too." Austin smiles back.
I loved your new movie by the way. You were incredible. I took my grandma to see it as she loves Elvis, and she cried."
"Aw, that's so sweet. Thank you. You'll have to say hi to your grandma for me."
"I will."
"Or maybe, one day I could say hi to her myself? That's if you'd like to go on a date with me & we hit it off."
"I'd really like that." Juliet smiles. "You're not dating Victoria right? I just want to make sure."
"Oh, no. We're not."
"Okay, good. I did see the announcement you guys made, but I just wanted to make sure nothing had changed since."
"Yeah, we're still just friends and co-parents."
"That's great, because I'd really like to take you up on that date."
"How does tonight sound? I can pick you up when you're off work? Maybe get some take out & hang at my place?"
"Actually, that sounds perfect. I've been having to uber lately with my car being out of commission. I'm off at eight."
"Cool. I'll see you then. And I can give you a ride home later. Let's exchange numbers so if there's change of plans or anything."
"Yeah, let's do that."
Austin & Juliet exchange numbers and said their goodbyes so she could get back to work.
"Hey, Butler!" Vic calls out as she seems him when she walks in.
Austin turns around with a smile on his face & walks to them.
"What are you all smiley about?" she asks.
"I may have met a girl, and got her number, and set up a date with her for tonight. She's coming over to hang out & get take out. I hope that's okay with you."
"Oh, um, yeah. That's fine. I'll just hang in my room for the night & watch some chick flick Christmas movies."
"Perfect."
"So, who's this girl?" Ashley asks.
"Her name is Juliet. She works here in the store. She was stocking books in the parenting section and the book I was looking at, she had told me it's a best seller & we just got to talking a bit."
"Aw, that's good you met someone, Austin!" Ashley says.
"Yeah, that's great, Aus. Love that for you." Vic mentions.
"Thanks, guys. She seems really nice and she's insanely gorgeous. Blonde, blue eyes, so many freckles."
"Well, I'm sure we'll get to meet her & see her beauty for ourselves if it works out." Ashley says.
Austin cashes out at the register & they all head out to finish up their shopping trip.
By the time Vic & Austin drop off Ashley at her house & get home, there's not much time until he has to go out and get Juliet from work.
He takes his shopping bags into his room and puts them all in his walk in closet, then changes into black jeans and a blue button down shirt. He makes sure his hair looks good & sprays some cologne on before heading back out.
"Hey Vic, I'm about to go pick up Juliet, then we're stopping for food. Want something from whatever we get?" Austin asks her, stopping by her room.
"Oh, yeah. That'd be great. You know my usuals." Vic responds.
"Alright. I'll be back soon."
Austin heads out the door and drives back out to The Grove.
He sees Juliet waiting for him outside of the store.
"Hi!" She says getting in the car.
"Hey! How was the rest of your shift?"
"It was good! Just finished stocking and then put away the things people didn't want."
"Sounds easy enough. I'm glad you had a good day. No shitty customers? I know working retail on black Friday you can come across some crazies."
"I didn't have to deal with any, but my co-worker said there was this lady who thought these certain books we're half off but it was buy one get one half off. The lady would not give up on it, even though the sign was right."
"Damn. Not surprised though. I remember when my mom was working as an aesthetician, she would complain about clients not understanding the pricing and sales on the products they sold in the spa she worked at. Even my dad working in real estate would deal with 'Karen's'" he chuckled.
"Yeah, any kind of retail sucks. I can't wait to get out of it."
"What do you want to do when you get out?"
"Well, I really want to be a writer. Well, I am a writer, that has yet to be published. So, once I get published, and if I do well enough, I will leave retail."
"That's really cool. What genre do you write?"
"I write young adult romance, mainly. I've also written a romantic thriller. This girl is super obsessed with this married man, and she tries everything to get the wife out of the picture. I saw the movie 'The Crush' and was inspired. Have you seen that movie?"
"I don't think I have."
"This teen girl who is apart of a rich family, get's a really hot guy renting out their guest house. She gets a highly obsessive crush on him and tries to sabotage things in his life because she isn't getting what she wants, which is the guy."
"That sounds really interesting."
"We could watch that tonight if you want."
"Yeah, that'd be great." Austin smiles at her. "Any food recommendations?"
"Oh gosh, I'm not sure. What's good around your place?"
"Um, there's this really good Japanese place that has really good sushi."
"Ooo, that sounds good."
"Okay, we can do that then. If you want, you can look up their menu & see what you want, then I'll call them and order."
"Alright. What's it called?"
"Aji Ten."
Juliet looks up the menu & decides on what she wants, then Austin places the order.
They get to the restaurant with about ten minutes til their order is ready for pickup.
"So, Juliet. Tell me more about you." Austin says as they wait in the car.
"Okay. Um, I'm 27 years old. I'm from Anaheim-
Austin cuts her off, "Wait, you're from Anaheim? So am I!"
"Oh my gosh, really? That's so cool."
"Yeah, I grew up right by Disney Land & Knott's. My mom would take my sister & I all the time."
"We went a lot too! We probably crossed paths at some point."
"Probably! What else is there about you?"
"Hm, well you know where I work and what I want to do for a living. I have 2 older brothers & a baby sister, my parents are divorced."
"My parents we're divorced too."
"We're?"
"Yeah. My mom, passed away, when I was 23. They divorced when I was 12, I believe."
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry Austin. That must have been so rough. I can't imagine going through them divorcing and then having to go through losing your mom. I can't imagine losing a parent."
"Thank you. It's definitely gotten better, but I still miss her a lot."
"Oh, I'm sure."
"Looks like the food should be about ready. I'll go in and get it. Be right back."
Austin goes inside and picks up the food, then they head back to the house.
"Welcome to my humble abode. Make yourself comfortable." Austin says, leading into the house.
They go into the kitchen and see Victoria unpacking bags and sorting the new baby stuff in the living room, which is connected to the kitchen.
"Oh, hey Vic. This Juliet. Juliet, this is Victoria." Austin says.
Victoria waves, "Oh, hi! Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too." Juliet says.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to use the bathroom." Austin says. "Vic, we got Aji Ten. I got your usual, small miso soup & Cali roll with extra avocado."
"Perfect. Thanks, Aus."
"You're welcome!" He calls out as he heads to the bathroom.
Victoria looks over Juliet as she takes some plush bunnies out of a bag, watches her as she looks around the house waiting for Austin to get back. She sees Juliet take off her jacket and unbutton more of her top to reveal clevage.
"Horny bitch." Victoria let's her thoughts slip out of her mouth.
"Hm?" Julia asks, being caught off guard.
Vic looks down at the plush bunnies and starts talking for them, playing it off. "No, you're a horny bitch! Nooo, you're a horny bitch!" she laughs it off nervously.
Juliet laughs nervously as well, playing along.
"I'm back! Let's get this food." Austin says walking into the kitchen.
"I guess I'll grab my soup and sushi, & get out of your guy's hair." Vic says.
She gets up and grabs her food, along with a Sprite from the fridge.
"Have a good night, guys. Nice meeting you." Victoria says nervously before heading off to her room.
"What the hell just came out of my mouth?" she thought to herself.
She sat down at her desk, and propped up her phone to Facetime Mila as she ate.
"Hey girl, what's up?" Mila answers.
"Austin has a girl over."
"He has what now?"
"A girl. A really hot one too."
"Oh my. Do you think he's over you now that he's met someone?"
"God, I hope so. But you know what I did? You know what I fucking did?"
"What?"
"I was watching her look around the house while Austin was in the bathroom, and she took off her jacket, then she unbuttoned her top more to show off cleavage."
"Okay, and?"
"Then I just out of no where, blurted out, "Horny bitch."
"You didn't...."
"I did. Thankfully I was holding these plush bunnies we got for the baby and I played it off as they were fighting on who's the horny bitch."
"Wait, why is that funny?" Mila laughs.
"Oh my god, stop. It was so embarrassing. Like why did I just blurt that out?"
"Maybe he's over you, but you aren't over him. Kinda sounds like jealously." Mila takes a sip of wine.
"Is that wine?"
"Mhm."
"Lucky. I can't wait to drink again. Gonna be pumping and dumping when we go have a much needed girls night out after this pregnancy."
"Oh, yes. Once your body is up for it, we'll go and get LIT."
"Please, I need. But, let's not go to that one club though where we went for the cast parties. It's been Eliana's hangout."
"Oh, yeah. We'll go somewhere else."
"But back to you saying it sounds like jealousy. I am not jealous."
"You sure? Because I don't think you'd call the new girl Austin is seeing a horny bitch for showing off her titties a bit."
"I'm sure."
"Oookayy. If you say so."
"It was probably just pregnancy brain."
"Mhm."
"I'm not jealous."
"Uh-huh. What does she look like?"
"She's about my height, blonde hair, blue eyes, freckles."
"She sounds cute. What's her name? I wanna look her up."
"Juliet. I don't know her last name. She works at Barnes & Noble."
"Got it."
"That was quick."
"Eh, I've always been good at finding people. You know, before I got into acting, I was kind of a geek and was really good at tech stuff."
"Really? I don't think I knew that."
"Yeah. I worked at Best Buy once upon a time, selling computers."
"Wow. I don't think you ever brought it up."
"Mhm. Anyways, she is pretty. Her last name is Moreno. She's from Anaheim. Big family. Italian."
"Damn, you're good."
"Aren't I?" Mila flips her hair.
"Austin's from Anaheim. I'm sure they've bonded over that."
Mila gives Vic an eyebrow raise.
"What?"
"Jealousy, jealousy."
"Stooopppp, I am not!"
"Okay, okay. But are you sure?"
"Oh my god, yes Mila."
In the morning....
Vic walks into the kitchen to see Juliet wearing Austin's Mighty Ducks muscle tank, revealing some side boob.
"Good morning." Juliet says to Vic, as she makes herself a cup of coffee.
"Morning."
"Would you like some coffee?"
"Oh, no. That's okay. I can't have much caffeine and I usually just have a protein shake in the morning. Thanks though."
"No problem. I really hope we didn't get off on a rough spot..."
"Oh, because of what I said? That wasn't-
"Victoria, I saw you looking at me when you said it. I could tell it was about me."
"Listen, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I didn't even realize I said it until it was too late."
"You would have thought it either way though, right?"
"I don't know, but I'm sorry."
"I just hope you know that's not my intention with Austin."
"Good to know. Speaking of, where is he?"
"He's still in bed."
"No, I'm not. Good morning, ladies." Austin says as he walks in, shirtless in just his underwear.
"Good morning." Juliet smiles at him.
He kisses her sweetly. "I had a lot of fun last night."
"Me too." she giggles.
Victoria lowkey rolls her eyes & grabs a protein shake from the fridge and a banana off the counter, and goes to sit in the living room.
"I'll be heading out soon. I have to work in an hour and a half, and I want to stop at home first to get ready." Juliet says to Austin.
"Alright, sweetheart. Want me to give you a ride home?"
"No, that's okay. My roommate is going to pick me up on her way back from her hair appointment."
"Okay, sounds good."
When Juliet was leaving, Austin was saying his goodbyes.
"Call me?" he asks.
"You know I will."
He kisses her & sparks fly. Maybe he is over his feelings for Vic.

The first time it happened, it was definitely a joke. It was a joke, so Steve tried not to take it too seriously. The next time it happened, though, Steve couldn’t ignore it.
The it in question was Eddie calling him a girl. The first time, Eddie was teasing Steve in front of his band mates. They were on the verge of dating, still too nervous to finally ask the question both want the other to ask.
Eddie was making jokes about ‘King Steve’ and Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington, both of which Steve wasn’t really interested in, so when he went to make his leave, saying he needed to go pick Dustin up from the arcade (a truth, though Dustin didn’t want picked up for another hour.)
“And the princess makes her leave,” Eddie said, bowing. Steve couldn’t shake the way his stomach tickled with an unfamiliar feeling, or the way his heart skipped a beat. “I will see you later, my liege.” Steve let his eyes roll, unable to shake the smile.
“You too, Munson.” Eddie simply grinned and waved Steve off with a dorky salute. Steve smiled as he walked to his car, shaking his head.
That night, he stayed up for about an hour and a half trying to decide why he reacted in such a way. He wrongfully blamed it on being already upset over the previous teasing before going to bed.
A few weeks later, Steve had taken Eddie out on a date. They went and saw some movie Eddie had been talking about for weeks beforehand, and then they went to the mall and went for a bit of shopping, then they went to some open field that probably belonged to some old man and stargazed. Eddie thought it was awfully sappy, but Steve looked so excited and delighted by getting to do these things with Eddie that he didn’t complain once. He’d be willing to sit and stare at white dots if it meant he could steal glances as Steve’s pretty eyes, sparkling with reflections of constellations.
Finally, Steve drove them home. Well. Attempted to. His car broke down about two miles away from any form of housing. Steve, in short, panicked.
“You mean to tell me, you have no clue what goes on in your car?” Eddie asked with a disbelieving giggle.
“You turn the key and the car turns on Munson, I don’t care for the in between steps, oh god we’re going to be stranded forever.”
“Easy, princess, I’ll check it. Wanna be my light? Well, do you have a flashlight?” Steve tried to ignore his stomach at the pet name.
“Maybe in the trunk? From…yknow.” Eddie knew, and neither of them wanted to speak of it. They simply climbed out and opened the trunk, digging through stuff that definitely belonged to the kids before finding a functioning flashlight.
“Perfect. Now, just flash the light while I pop the hood, yeah?” Eddie guided, and Steve listened. Eddie tugged the hood open, and stared at the guts of the car. He leaned over, spinning the cap to something. Steve had no clue what Eddie was doing.
“You mean to tell me you have no idea what all this is?” Eddie asked as he used his fingers to tighten things.
“Why would I?” Eddie snorted, craning a brow.
“Oh I’m sorry, I forgot that pretty girls don’t do dirty work.” Steve flushed a bright red, unable to shake his nerves at that. He stared at the headlight of his car, biting his lip. “Steve, did you leave the light on in the car when we stargazed?”
“No?”
“You used it to find your lighter and I can’t remember if you turned it off.” Steve also couldn’t remember, and Eddie turned to Steve. “Love. Did you break the number one rule of owning a car.”
“Listen, Eds, I didn’t-”
“I can’t jump a battery without another car. Ugh, does your car have a phone?” Steve pursed his lips and shook his head. “Of course it doesn’t. Hm. We could walk?”
“Hell no.” Eddie snorted, craning a brow.
“Really? A little walking?”
“In the dark? Surrounded by woods? Fuck that.” Eddie smiled knowingly and simply nodded.
“Alright. Guess we’re staying in the car until someone drives by. I can sleep up front if you want to lay down. The princess has to get her beauty sleep.” Steve exhaled heavily, furrowing his brows. He realized, with a pang in his chest, he liked when Eddie called him a girl. He really liked it. Craved it now.
The two clambered back into the car, finding extra coats and blankets shoved in the depths of Steve’s trunk (Eddie was very concerned by his collection of items. Steve had to explain that he always chauffeured the kids to and from sleepovers, and they rarely remembered to take their shit out of his car.)
They sat in a soft silence for a moment, Steve unable to sleep.
“Eddie?” Steve finally mumbled, toying with the edge of some dumb dragon themed blanket that Mike definitely forgot in his car.
“Mnnn. Hm?”
“Were you sleeping?” Steve asked, turning his head to where Eddie’s rested. Eddie shook his head, rolling it to the side to admire Steve.
“Was about to, but it’s okay. What’s up, my liege?”
“God you’re a dork. Uhm…” Eddie smiled, eyes closing but still listening. “Why do you keep calling me a girl?” Eddie blinked his eyes open.
“I like the way it never fails to fluster you. You obviously like it.”
“Is it…weird to…want to be called a girl?” This caught Eddie’s full attention, the brunet’s eyes opening wide and fully fixating on Steve. “Like…not in a sexy way? But in a…normal way? God this is weird.” Steve dug the butts of his palms into his eyes. “Ignore me.”
“You mean like a transvestite?”
“Not like that! Like- well- I mean- a little- a little like that?” Eddie turned and tugged his leg up to be more comfortable, facing Steve fully. “I just…thinking about it, I don’t mind being called a boy…but…being a girl seems nice. I want…I want to feel pretty,” Steve finally mumbled, admitting a truth he hadn’t even told Robin, and Robin knows practically everything about him.
Eddie seemed to process this for a moment, twirling his hair.
“Do you still wanna be called Steve?” Steve thought on it for a moment before nodding. “Okay Stevie. What about- yknow- pronouns. Like do you want me to use the girl ones too?”
“This is weird- I’m weird.”
“You aren’t,” Eddie assured, shaking his head. “You’re normal. This is normal.” He flashed a smile. “You’re perfect, love.” Steve, still absolutely unfamiliar to affirmations and words of love, flushed and hid into the blanket.
“I think I like girl pronouns too,” Steve finally mumbled. Eddie reached back and caressed Steve’s arm comfortingly, stomach churning at the uneasiness and almost fear in Steve’s voice. Steve peaked out from under the blanket. “And that’s normal?”
“Absolutely.” Eddie reached and cupped Steve’s face. “And even if it wasn’t, the people who matter in your life wouldn’t think anything different of you.”
Steve knew that. Steve absolutely knew that. Robin wouldn’t care. The kids wouldn’t care, they’d definitely call him Mom more as a joke.
“Yeah. Yeah.”
“So girl and boy pronouns. Anything else?” Steve stared at Eddie, overwhelmed with adoration for a moment. Of course Eddie was on board with it instantly. Eddie would never judge him. Eddie loved him. He loved Eddie. Eddie was perfect.
“I love you,” Steve whispered into Eddie’s palm. Eddie smiled wide.
“I love you too.”

[The recording begins in the passenger seat of a car, at upper chest height. The sky is dark, and there is quiet chatter happening behind the camera.]
[Suddenly, a small animal comes into view on the road. The person with the camera lunges to grab the steering wheel, swerving around the animal.]
?: Sorry, everyone! Animal on the road!
[Voice identified: Ophelia.]
?: It's ok! It's understandable.
[Voice identified: Nessa.]
[Ophelia turns around in zer seat, looking back at the other passengers of the car.]
O: You guys ready?
Ne: Legally I should say no, [Whispered.] Lord knows I'm already in enough legal trouble.
[Ness clears her throat and sits up straight.]
Ne: But yeah! I'm ready!
[Noises of agreement from the other passengers indicate they share the same sentiment.]
?: Ophelia, when are you going to tell her why Cass is here?
[Voice identified: Becky.]
O: Soon!
Ne: Not like I really care, bro is the head of PR. And therefore my boss when I'm with PR so.
[A loud laugh is heard from the driver's seat.]
?: You guys haven’t told her yet?
[Voice identified: Cassius.]
Ne: Nah, they haven't told me anything. Besides why I'm here.
C: Oh, this’ll be fun.
O: Eyes on the road! OMFG dude we can’t die in a car accident before we get there!
Ne: Yeah uh… I think I'm the only one that would stay dead honestly.
C: Yep. You are.
Ne: I was… Joking.
[Cassius turns and smiles at Ness.]
O: EYES ON THE ROAD!
[The car swerves violently as the passengers shout. Cassius is the only exception, cackling at the others.]
Ne: Fuckin' hell dude, maybe chill?
C: Never.
Ne: Fair enough, have a nice night.
Be: But we’re going to the same place?
Ne: A joke, it's a joke… I know we're all going to the same place.
Be: Oh.
C: Sharp turn, everyone hold onto something. If you’re in the middle seat, good luck.
[The camera jolts, as everyone screams. Several thunks can be heard behind the camera.]
?: OW. YOU BITCH!
[Voice identified: Eden.]
Ne: SORRY, SORRY, I'M SORRY.
[Ness puts her hands together and begins pleading with Eden.]
Ne: Don't kill me- I'm sorry!
Ed: I have half a mind to fucking bite you right now.
C: Hey. We don’t bite others in the car.
Ed: Fine.
Ne: Eden please for the love of gods forgive me, I was trying to grab the center console so I didn't fall into anyone.
Ed: You’re lucky we’re working together tonight, Ness.
O: Speaking of! We’re almost there! Everyone prepare yourselves! Ness, are you sure you’re ready?
Ne: Physically? Been ready. Mentally? Well I think if I say no Eden's gonna kill me once we get out the car so yeah I'm ready!
[After a few seconds, the car turns into a parking lot. And everyone begins to exit the car.]
Ne: [Whispered.] Ok Ness… You can do this.
[Ness slowly gets out of the car with everyone else, the green dress she has been wearing shining under the lights.]
Ne: Ok… Time for me to help kidnap someone.
O: Huddle up, team! We need to restate our plan.
[The PR team and Ness form a circle, Ophelia points at the different members and states what they’ll be doing. Before turning to Cassius.]
O: Cassius, you–
C: Are the distraction, I know. You brought an outfit for me, correct?
O: Hell yeah we did. It’s in the back.
Ne: Wait, outfit? What?
C: I can’t be a distraction in my work clothes! Come on, Ness. Think for a moment.
[Cassius walks to the car and opens the trunk, pulling out a red satin party dress, he grins at Ophelia.]
C: You’ve really outdone yourself on this one, Ophelia. I’ll go get changed, I’ll be back in a second.
[Cassius vanishes behind the car, Ophelia turns back to the group.]
O: That’s why he’s here.
Ne: I, I support it. That is a damn good plan.
[After a few seconds, Cassius calls for Ophelia.]
C: You brought your purse, right?
O: Yeah, why?
C: I’m going to need to borrow your lipstick.
O: Alright! Catch!
[Ophelia tosses xer purse behind the car.]
C: Thanks!
Ne: So uh… Why am I here? Besides helping, what's the plan?
O: We need you to help carry the dude out. Among other things.
Ne: Like?
O: Well, we don’t know what else will be needed until we actually get in there. He has bodyguards, but we don’t know how many. He’s smart, unfortunately.
Ed: Would’ve done you some good to have a few of those, huh?
[Ness looks over at Eden, a look of annoyance on her face.]
Ne: I work at a fucking Chuck e Cheese knockoff where I make 15 bucks an hour, where the fuck am I gonna find bodyguards that cheap?
Ed: Pfft, I know that. I’m not saying you should hire bodyguards, just that they probably would’ve helped a lot.
Ne: If I needed a bodyguard I'll just beat your ass again. Lord knows I almost won the first time.
[Ness grins at Eden.]
[Eden flashes her teeth at Ness as a subtle warning.]
Ne: Literally most materials defend against bites, most of which I can afford.
Ed: I could bite you right now.
O: But you won’t.
Ne: I was just gonna say nuh uh, I'm here for the job so she can't.
O: Hm. Well, after the job is done, you’re pretty much fair game. So… let’s hope you can run in those shoes.
Ne: I am wearing the shiny tennis shoes for a reason, I only have one pair of heels and I refuse to get dirt or blood on them. If it comes down to bloodshed.
[A voice is heard behind Ophelia.]
C: Blood adds to the charm, in my opinion.
Ne: I mean sure… But unlike you guys I could actually be thrown in jail for this. And at least these shoes I can bury easily.
[Cassius clears his throat.]
C: Let’s avoid that word for a little bit.
Ne: You got it boss! Sorry about that.
C: Hm, I haven’t been called ‘boss’ in a while. And thanks. Are we all ready to go in?
Ne: Yep I think so! Oh… Wait hold on. Gotta match my fake ID so they let me in.
[Ness opens her backpack and pulls out a bag with a long curly brown wig, putting it on as well as a pair of glasses.]
Ne: Now I'm ready!
O: Alright then! Follow me, everyone!
[The group is led to the door, and are let in with little issue.]
Ne: Thank god… I'm worried for the day that doesn't work.
C: Well, I’ll see you guys later!
[Cassius winks at the group, then saunters off into the crowd. Playing up his usual confidence tenfold. Ophelia chuckles.]
O: There he goes. Let's locate our guy.
Ne: Hey Ophelia? You mind if I ask a question?
O: Sure! What’s up?
Ne: You guys uh… Tend to call people by the names that hurt them, you call Rose ‘editor’, you called Edgar ‘mechanic’. Why don't you guys call me Nessa? I mean I appreciate it but… It seems weird for y'all to call me "Ness" when you use names for everyone else that hurt them.
O: There’s a difference between Showfall job titles and chosen names.
Ne: Huh… I guess you have a point.
[Ness clears her throat.]
Ne: Maybe we should check by the bar? Seems like a good place to look.
O: You’ve got it, girl! Come on, everyone.
[As the group makes their way over, a person identified as Irene begins to talk to Ness, just in range of the microphone.]
Ir: So, Ness is your chosen name?
Ne: Huh… Oh yeah, it's uh… The name I started using after my mom and dad kicked me out of the house. Cuz well I never really liked the name Nessa but they didn't listen to me so.
Ir: I respect that. I never liked my name before I transitioned. I’m glad that the rest of the team was accepting of that, I don’t know what I’d do if they weren’t.
Ne: Wait, you're trans?
Ir: Yeah!
Ne: Hell yeah girl!
[Ness holds her fist out for a fistbump.]
[Irene finishes the gesture, giggling.]
Ne: I know you guys are like murderers and stuff, but I still can't help but respect the shit out of a lot of Y'all!
O: I assume that’s excluding Eden?
Ne: She legitimately almost killed the first girlfriend I've had, so yes, that is excluding Eden.
[The group approaches the bar, seamlessly blending in with the rest of the patrons sitting there.]
?: WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S NOT STRONG? THAT IS THE STRONGEST ALCOHOL WE HAVE!
[Voice registered, awaiting name.]
[The bartender is seemingly screaming at someone who can't be seen because of the other patrons.]
?: BULLSHIT IT'S THE STRONGEST SHIT YOU HAVE!
[Voice identified: Emi.]
Ne: Welp… Looks like no-one's getting any alcohol till that's sorted.
Ed: Hrm…
O: What’s up, girl?
Ed: Oh, nothing! Don’t mind me!
Ne: We should focus on finding the target, just maybe tune out the- WOAH!
[A glass cup comes flying in Ness' direction, being caught by Ness right before it hits her face.]
Em: Sorry… Not really but y'know.
?: DON'T THROW OUR FUCKING CUPS!
[Eden takes a step towards Emi, her gait looking slightly different than usual, her hips sway slightly more, and her steps appear more smooth.]
Ed: Hey there!
Em: Do I-
[Emi cuts herself off with a laugh, a laugh of joy.]
Ed: We’ve met, but not properly. Allow me to reintroduce myself. I’m Eden, Showfall PR member.
[Emi removes one of her gloves and the bloody bottom half of a Halloween mask before looking up at Eden.]
Em: Emi Henderson, Rose's half sister and Ness' stalker. Nice to meetcha!
[Emi extends her hand out for a handshake, Eden takes hold of her hand.]
Ed: We never really got to know each other, would you like to go somewhere a little more… secluded. So we can chat?
[A smile creeps across Emi's face, she removes the hood of her hoodie to reveal flowing pink hair.]
Em: I like you… Sure why not, you got anything stronger than this garbage alcohol?
Ed: Of course, I never leave the mall without a few backup flasks of my own drinks.
Em: Oh I really like you. Alright! Let's go!
[Eden turns back to Ophelia and waves, before dragging Emi off into the crowd, the two vanish.]
O: … You’re fucking kidding me.
Ne: Ophelia… ACTUALLY team huddle!
O: Yep.
[The group forms another circle.]
Ne: [Whispered.] THAT'S ROSE'S HALF SISTER EDEN JUST LEFT WITH, AND MY STALKER!
O: [Whispered.] I KNOW. AND I KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING. WE WON’T BE SEEING EITHER OF THEM UNTIL TOMORROW.
Ne: [Whispered.] I'M TIRED, WHERE IS THIS GOING?
O: [Whispered.] NESS. ARE YOU SERIOUS. IT’S SO OBVIOUS.
Ne: [Whispered.] EDEN IS GONNA SLEEP WITH MY STALKER??? AND ROSE'S HALF SISTER?
O: [Whispered.] YES. YES SHE IS.
Ir: I mean. Good on Eden for finally getting some action, but she chose the worst person.
Ne: I mean… It makes sense, they both hate Rose. And me.
O: Well, we can’t do anything about that now. They’re gone. We still need to find our–
[A notification appears on a watch that Ophelia is wearing. They bring the watch up to her face. The message reads ‘Found our guy. On the dance floor. Bodyguards are off to the side.’]
O: Oh, shit.
Ne: Do we have a plan? If not I might just have one. I just need you guys to trust me.
O: Ness. Tell us the plan before we go with it. The last time someone said ‘just trust me’ I ended up dangling over the edge of the Eiffel Tower. Um. Don’t ask. Rough week.
Ne: I… Ok anyway, Me and Cassius could lead the bodyguards into a dark corner, if we don't want to kill them I have a taser on me. Then we take the guy outside or have Cassius distract the guy, while I distract the guards and you guys get the stuff ready.
Be: Well, there’s two guards, so you’d need to have someone with you. Cass seems to already be distracting our dude.
Ne: Not necessarily, I mean… Two guards, one person, that happens sometimes.
O: I’m not going to let you do that alone, girl. I’m going too. Everyone else, go get the stuff ready. Ness, if you’re absolutely sure you want to do this part, I’ll go with it. But if you’re at all uncomfortable I’d understand swapping out.
Ne: Let's do this, I owe you guys a job, I intend to do my best to help.
O: Alright, everyone, go get the things ready, Ness, let’s go.
[Ophelia walks over to where the body guards are, stopping for a moment to stare at the dance floor.]
O: Jesus, I forgot how different he can act for stuff like this.
Ne: Yeah uh… Bro seems to take his job very seriously, I respect it.
[Cassius notices Ophelia staring, he winks, and turns his attention back to the man he’s dancing with.]
O: Alright, we’ve gotta be quick, can’t let anyone see us do this.
Ne: Yep… Is now a bad time to mention I've never done something like this before?
O: Not at all, follow my lead, I’ve done this hundreds of times.
[They finally make their way to the two bodyguards, who seem extremely drunk.]
O: Perfect.
[Ophelia walks up to the first guard.]
O: Hey there! I couldn’t help but notice you from across the club, how are you doing?
?: [Slurring his words.] Woah, I’m uh. Doing great. How’re you?
[Voice registered. Awaiting name…]
O: I’m perfect. Wanna take this somewhere a little more private?
?: Sure!
[Ophelia leads the man to a darker corner of the club, after a few seconds of being there, his eyes roll backwards into his head, and he slumps over.]
O: Some fuckin’ bodyguards these guys are. Weaker than a piece of tissue paper.
[Ophelia receives another message on her watch, it reads ‘Ophelia help, I dropped my fucking tazer and this guys has me- OW FUCK pinned to the walk… My right forearm is fucking bleeding again.' Ophelia freezes for a moment, before breaking into a sprint.]
O: [Muttered.] Oh, absolutely not.
[She approaches the corner Ness had led the other man to, moving faster once zey catch sight of them.]
?: YOU THINK YOU CAN FUCKING TRICK ME?
[Voice registered. Awaiting name…]
[The guard can be seen choking Ness against the wall as she struggles to get away.]
[Ophelia walks up behind the man, and taps him on the shoulder.]
O: Excuse me? Sir?
?: What do you want, bitch?
[As soon as the man turns around, Ophelia punches him in the face as hard as she can. The man falls to the floor. They rush over to Ness.]
O: Ness! Are you alright? How bad are your injuries?
[Ness looks up at Ophelia, tears streaming down her face. Red marks across her face and throat, she can't say a word.]
O: Oh my god. Okay. Give me a second.
Ne: [Audibly injured.] L- let… M- me… C- can I… B- borrow O- one of y- your heels?
O: Of course, hon. Of course. Get his ass.
[Ness slips over to the man, heel on one foot.]
?: What you gonna do? Kill m-
[Ness stomps the foot with the heel down into the man's face, the heel bit going into his eye killing him instantly, his face collapsing with a crunch. Blood streaming down to the floor.]
O: Okay, we need to get out of here. Hold on… idea. I think I should have a lighter somewhere in my bag…
[She begins to pull items out of her bag, until finally finding a lighter.]
O: Ness, you’re good at burning shit down, right?
[Ness coughs, holding her throat while she speaks.]
Ne: K- kinda? I mean… I h- helped M- Mari DEAL with b- burning shit down.
O: Take this, let’s light this fucker ablaze. Also, you might wanna cover your ears in a minute.
[Ophelia hands Ness the lighter.]
Ne: Finally get to say this… Sayonara!
[Ness lights the lighter and sets the man's suit on fire, after roughly 5 seconds the fire grows enough to light up the corner they are in.]
[Ophelia grabs a drink from a nearby table and dumps it onto the man, allowing the fire to grow more. The fire spreads to the walls, and Ophelia grabs Ness and moves them away.]
O: Okay, run out the exit door. As fast as you can, and cover your ears to the best of your ability.
Ne: Are you gonna be ok?
O: Of course I will. Just go, everyone else should be outside, I don’t see Cass on the floor anymore.
Ne: Got it, be careful ok?
O: I will. See you in a few minutes!
[Ness hands Ophelia the now bloody heel, taking off the bloody tennis shoe before running out of frame with her hands over her ears.]
O: Oh, this is going to be fun.
[After a minute of waiting. Ophelia heads over to the fire alarm. Her hands move up to her head, covering her own ears. Before a shriek louder than the music and chatter of the club can be heard. The microphone of the camera picks it up as well as it can.]
[The volume and pitch of the scream causes many glass items in the club to shatter, including a few windows. The noise causes all of the patrons to begin running.]
[The fire alarm is hit, and Ophelia bolts towards the back door. Opting for a broken window instead of the door.]
[They tuck into a roll and sprint to the van they all drove in. She opens the door to the passenger seat and jumps into the car, slamming the door shut.]
O: DRIVE! GO!
Ne: WHAT ABOUT EDEN?
O: SHE CAN TAKE AN UBER. JUST GO BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE CAN GET INTO THEIR CARS.
Ne: CASSIUS DRIVE DUDE!
[The tires of the car screech as he slams his foot on the gas pedal. The camera jolts as the car takes a few sharp turns and speeds down the road. Ophelia turns her full body to look at the burning building zey just left.]
Ne: I… I'm sorry I fucked up, I didn't think he was going to figure me out I… I'm sorry.
[Ness tries to hold back tears as the sound of a wig being removed is heard.]
O: Ness, it’s fine. You did all you could. Don’t worry about it.
[Varied sounds of the people in the back attempting to comfort Ness can be heard.]
Ne: I… You sure? I um… I know it was supposed to be a stealth thing and I fucked it up…
O: Ness, if anything, it was my fault. Don’t blame yourself. We still got the job done.
C: Yep, dude is in the trunk. Masked.
Ne: Um… Ophelia, did I at least do good stomping the guys head in? I um… I've never done that before.
O: You did great. Let’s get you home, girl.
Ne: Um. First, Boss, if you want to stop at a restaurant I'll buy food and drinks for everyone. I have the money.
C: I’m not going to make you spend your money on us, Ness.
Ne: I… Dude, I'm gonna offer at least, I could've died. That guard almost broke my fucking neck.
C: And that’s why I’m going to be buying food. Don’t worry about it.
Ne: Alright…
O: Do you want to call anyone? We’re not exactly the best people for comfort, maybe talking to a friend would be better for you.
Ne: Henry's at work, I don't want to bother anyone in the apartment right now. And… Rose is in the mall so.
C: Talking to a family member or a friend after something like that helps, I would know. Don’t worry about bothering them.
Ne: Ok… Um… Can I call Katherine? I don't know who will pick up but y'know.
O: Call whoever you need to call, Ness.
Ne: FUCK I left my phone at work…
Be: Huh. That’s a little… um, not good.
Ne: Yeah.
[Ness tries to face-palm, but the moment her hand hits her face she winces in pain.]
O: Oh dear. Becky, can we switch seats?
Be: Sure.
[Becky unbuckles her seatbelt and switches places with Ophelia, causing a bit of laughter within the car.]
O: Okay, what hurts?
Ne: My face, my neck, my fucking forearms. The stitches in the right one broke when I hit the wall, and he had one hand gripping the left one.
O: Let me get the first aid kit, it should be under my seat.
[A bit of shuffling, before Ophelia pulls out a first aid kit and opens it up. Taking out some bandages.]
Ne: I… You don't have to do this, I know if anyone finds out you'll...
O: We’ll be fine.
Ne: If you're sure…
O: Oi, Cass, ease up on the turns for a bit, alright?
C: Got it.
[Ophelia begins to bandage Ness’ wounds, being as careful as xe can to not hurt her.]
Ne: Thank you… And um… Real quick I think I have something to say.
[Ness clears her throat, again wincing in pain.]
O: Yeah?
Ne: Boss, I'm sorry for insulting you and making fun of you because of the strike system and stuff. Fact of the matter is, you are really fucking cool, you remind me of one of those 80s action heroes, just… Evil. Or… A murderer is the better term I guess, and I respect you for… Being so serious about your job.
C: … I’m unsure how to respond to that, Ness. But it’s very appreciated.
Ne: I… I don't think I'll ever forgive you for what you did to Marina… But if I hate you for the rest of my life I'll never move on. So I wanted to tell you that.
C: Mhm… Thanks.
Ne: And Ophelia… Thanks for helping me back there, I would’ve died if you didn't. And uh… Thanks for letting me crush that guy's head in, hope I made you proud as the honorary PR member with that one.
O: You did good, Ness.
Ne: And um… Thank you guys for letting me tag along, sorry I wasn't much help till the end. [Whispered.] Still more help than Eden was.
O: I was about to say, yeah. Eden did nothing.
[Laughter erupts from the passengers of the car.]
Ne: Well… She's definitely doing something tonight, as much as that pains me to say.
C: I wonder how that’s going for her. I guess we’ll hear about it in the morning.
Ne: Question. I always see these transcript's where the PR office is said to 'Look nice' when can I see it?
O: I’m not going to risk bringing you into the mall, girl. Rose would absolutely kill me. If she didn’t hate us before, she’d 100% despise us after that.
Ne: Rose doesn't hate you guys she just… Doesn't trust y'all.
C: That’s fair.
Ne: I… Still don't know what to think, even if I don't trust y'all I still respect y'all, hell one of you saved my fucking life!
O: You don’t have to trust us, Ness. It’s honestly better if you don’t.
Ne: I… You guys are… Are like a family to me, which is weird, because the people in the apartment are also like a family to me, the point is. You guys treat me like I'm your sister or something… Like I belong… It’s ah fuck, I'm getting all sappy in the murder van.
Be: Sap is for trees! Don’t make the car all sticky! Wait, that’s not what you meant, is it.
Ne: N- No… I meant I was getting all emotional.
Be: Oooooh. That makes more sense.
O: We try to treat people who we’ve interacted with positively with respect. It would be rude not to. You’ve been a great help with some jobs, and I know that you probably are going to want to help with more…
Ne: Sure! I um… You guys are like a… A big family, I understand I can probably never fully join but… It’s fun to hang out with you guys.
O: Yeah… we can’t let you fully join PR, we can’t do that to you. You have a life to live, we all threw ours away. You’re staying as an honorary member, though.
Ne: That’s fine! I'm fine with that. As long as… As I can still maybe hang out with y'all? If you want I can teach y'all how to play Mario Party on a day off.
O: Sounds like a fun idea! Maybe we can finally get good enough to beat Alexander!
C: I hope you guys have fun with that.
Ne: A day off is supposed to be fun… I think… Only time I get days off is when I'm injured.
O: I’d be glad to do that, just need to find a day where we don’t get any jobs… wait. Hold on…
Ne: What?
O: Shit! My damn bodycam was recording this whole thing!
[Cassius slams his head into the steering wheel, causing the horn to honk.]
O: Sorry, everyone! Um. Anyone have someone they want to say hi to?
Ne: Rose is gonna kill me… Rose is gonna kill me… Wait. Can you block people?
O: I don’t know, this thing is old, it might not have received the update.
Ne: Can I try? I really don't want her to worry.
O: Ness, she’d get upset if she found out later. You might as well just let her see.
Ne: Fine… Hi Rose… Don't kill me.
C: I have someone to say hi to.
O: Alright, shoot.
C: Iris, if you say one thing about this I swear to god.
O: Okay! Anyone else?
[A chorus of no’s.]
O: Well, that just leaves me, then. Hi, Eden! Okay, turning this thing off now.

FFXIVWrite 2023 #8: Shed
(A/n: If its been perpetual Light without any other weather for 100 years, surely that means no seasons too? So I have to wonder how the First would feel about the world settling back into its old rhythm and the old seasons once they finally return. It must be so strange if they haven't seen snow or rain or ice in so long, or the changing leaves. So I really wanted to catch this sense of uncertainty, if most won't remember or even know about the concept.
Tho in this case, Almet might know, or she might not, depending on how old she is, but I've erred on the side of caution and assumed she's post-Flood birth.
Part of me just also feels like I miss the First and Ryne, even tho I know the very next patch is gonna have her feature in a way (small or otherwise, we don't know yet). I hope she's doing well, especially if she's still working hard for everyone. ;3;
Word count: 1385)
“Which way was it again?”
The blue flower path was certainly pretty, but it made for difficult travel when one forgot which fork in the road to follow to Fanow. Ryne unfortunately had forgotten, given the long while it’d been since she had visited the Viis town. The dense trees and the darkened shadows from the enveloping canopy didn’t help her bearings, unable to even see into the distance for a hint of life at the forest’s edge. She was travelling with a small guard, though unfortunately none had any experience with the forest as she had. Leaving her alone to shoulder the burden of navigation.
Her role as Oracle of Light had been changed somewhat, in light of the First’s new lease of life - she was something of an Emissary now for the Crystarium, often ensuring good relations between the various surviving settlements across Nordvrandt, both within each region and with the main city as a hub. Slitherbough didn’t have any issues with their neighbours, but she still wanted to check in with Fanow herself as well. If she could find it…
Fortunately for her, she wasn’t left stumbling around for much longer, as a voice broke through the leaf rustling ambiance.
“Hail, Oracle! It has been some time!” Looking up, and hearing the surprised chattering from her caravan behind her, Ryne smiled to see the familiar face of Almet standing upon a thick branch in the canopy. The woman leapt, traversing down the trunk with graceful bounds until she landed upon the petal strewn floor.
“Almet! It is good to see you,” Ryne greeted her, “I hope all has been well.”
“Of course. The forest has never been more peaceful since the night finally returned and the Sin Eaters numbered finally dwindled to nothing. I’m sure you could tell as much during your travels.” Ryne nodded, already breaking into chatter about their journey there and their reason for visiting, and idle introductions to the rest of her entourage.
“An Emissary is it? From one important duty to another, surely you of all of us have more than earned the rest after your deeds?” Almet said, shaking her head in awe.
“Many have told me, but I wouldn’t feel right just sitting doing nothing while everyone else did all the work,” Ryne replied.
“Well, that is your burden to bear, but I am pleased to see you continuing to look after the wellbeing of all on our star. Even coming all this way to check on Fanow, as cloistered away as we are here,” Almet nodded, coming to a stop by a wooden gateway arch. To Ryne’s surprise, they’d already reached the town’s entrance, unaware that Almet had led them along the way as they’d talked.
“Oh! I…Thank you. I’m sorry to say I seem to have forgotten the way,” Ryne said, flushing at her confession. Almet at least worse an understanding smile.
“Tis no worry. With how far you have travelled and how the forest has changed with the Light gone, I would be more surprised had you remembered. Feel free to come in and settle yourselves, someone will come and see you to a hut to rest yourselves so long as you are staying here,” Almet announced to the rest of the group. Ryne’s own nod to encourage them had them wasting no time entering the village, leaving the two alone.
“As much as I appreciate your hospitality, we hopefully shouldn’t stay too long. We wouldn’t want to impose, but we do have other places to visit as well.”
“You are certainly not imposing. We would always welcome you, as the allies of Ronka and the saviour of the star. But you of course have your duty as well. Allow us to at least see you well prepared for your journey,” Almet offered. Slitherbough had already offered to refill their supplies for the next leg of their journey after visiting Fanow, but more would always be nice. Sometimes to pass onto the next village they visited or even to the Crystarium’s supplies and stores when they returned.
They started up into canopy bound platforms, unperturbed at first of the wind that began to pick up – though Ryne did feel her stomach lurch as the boughs around her creaked and groaned from the strain. However they both came to a pause at a mumbling from a pair of nearby guard Viis leaning against the railing.
“It’s so different, how did it change so?”
“I don’t know, but it looks rather beautiful.”
“Ladies, is something amiss? Did something happen on your patrol?” Almet asked, making them both jump. As one of them frowned to see her surprise had crushed something in her grasp, the other held out a pristine leaf to show.
“Almet, it's so strange! The leaves are changing!” the guard stated. Almet took it in hand, brow furrowing at the discovery. Ryne peaked over, confused. The leaf was a bright vibrant orange, with dappled yellows along its lower half. A fan of leaves were thrust into her view, and she gaped at the sight; bright reds and yellows, more orange and faded gradients, and the normal greens were tinged brown along their edges.
“Is it not just from a peculiar tree?” she asked, trying to rationalise the strange appearance.
“Absolutely not, I’ve patrolled these same forests for 75 years, I know every tree in every corner,” the guard insisted, “This is new!”
“Almet, do you think the trees may be suffering an illness to cause this? Are they dying?” the other Viis asked, looking over the crushed remnants still in her hand with concern. Almet paused, still marvelling over the odd phenomena.
“No, I don’t think it is that,” she said carefully, “I can’t guarantee what this is for certain, though I may have an idea. I would like you to keep an eye out on your patrols, and inform the other groups of the same; if any more turn out like this or if anything else changes, let me know. But I appreciate this news.” The guards shared a look, then nodded and rushed off into the town.
The wind grew fiercer, and Ryne found herself shivering in its blast. Almet stood, letting it rustle through her hair and clothes.
“To think, it may finally be happening again,” she hummed, turning the leaf over in between her finger tips.
“What? What’s happening?” Noting the rising panic in Ryne’s voice, Almet smiled.
“Nothing to be worried about…or perhaps we should. But not for the reasons you may think, Oracle,” she said, “Tis the seasons. They may finally be cycling once again. The forest is changing.”
“Seasons? Changing?” Ryne had heard the concept somewhat, from Thancred - he’d mostly explained them briefly, how the sun would grow warmer, or the wind would grow colder at different times in the year. But in a world without shifting weather patterns, the notion didn’t really seem to be understood anymore.
“I remember tales from my mother, from before the Flood,” Almet explained, eyes growing distant as she recalled the memory, “She would talk about how the seasons would change the forest; how the animals would shift and move their nests and families, following their food as it too moved; how the grass would grow thick and green with the heat, and thin and wiry with the chill; and how they had different produce cycles for each passing moon, how they had to plant many crops in one season to keep people fed in the others, as less could be grown.
“And I know these past 100 years, the Light has prevented any such changes. The temperature may have dropped or risen, but it was never enough, and the forest was still the same as ever, unchanging and silent.”
“So…the idea of these seasons returning is good?” Ryne asked. The wind blew through once more, and this time Almet let the leaf in her hand fly free with the gusts.
“Yes, I think it is. Perhaps we will struggle to adjust after so long without, but I believe we can do that. And it will be wonderful to see the world return to its original self once more,” she smiled, “You may have extra work for yourself now to prepare the world for these big changes to come.”

packing up a bunch of stuff and hauling it out of the house at 4:30am isn't a lot of fun. i don't wanna do that again. i didn't get to say goodbye to joel, either, so that made me sad.
but i got like an hour and a half of sleep last night, so that's been rough.
today was really quiet. work had like nothing going on. at all. it allowed me to steal some nap time in between the not busy. it was pretty nice to not have anything chaotic happen.
i wore leo's sweatshirt all day.
after work, though, was my favorite part of the day.
despite a twenty-minute traffic jam on 93, i still got to see leo.
he gave me a couple gifts before we did anything, including a plush kirby who is now sitting on my suitcase.
we went into the restaurant, and he held the door open for me which was so cute. we both ordered pho, and while he got up and went to the bathroom, he'd left his keys on the table, so i snatched them and stuffed them in my bra. when he came back, he didn't notice.
we talked about a lot of stuff. religion, anime, personal growth, memes. it's so easy to talk to him. i don't need a filter.
when our soup arrived leo mentioned that he was concerned about pho because of the onions and how i don't really like them and he started to reassure me that i could order something different if i wanted to, but i stopped him. he was being so considerate and thoughtful it made my heart squeeze. i told him that pho is the one thing i will eat onions with, because it rounds out the flavor. which it does, and the onions added the flavor it all needed to be delicious. which it was.
after we were done with our soup, we stopped by the mochi donut place next door and got bubble tea at the shop next to that one. they didn't have regular boba, though, so that was a lil sad. but i wanted to try something and i got the chocolate caramel. i was hoping to drink it sooner than later but i didn't get to.
we then headed to a park near his house, and we went for a walk up the wooded path (i say trail but it was like a paved road) a little bit. we found a nice quiet spot and laid down in the grass to look at the stars, which were surprisingly visible despite being in the city.
some fun was had.
a lot of fun.
but eventually we wound down and cuddled in the grass until we saw some lights coming up the path, and so we grabbed our stuff and headed back down to the car. we decided on some late-night (it was about 11pm) mcdonald's, and upon arrival, leo realized he lost his hat at the park, which was sad, because he was gonna give that one to me. but we ordered and sat together and it felt so natural and it was so nice. we stayed and talked for a while and we made jokes about us being together ("good things come in small packages." "am i small packages then?"). it was fun and funny and so unexpectedly sweet. i loved every second of it.
while we were sitting together munching, we also talked about loving each other. i told him "i love you and i like you." he said "that's a good way to put it." starting a relationship after having already been friends a for a while is a great way to maintain open communication and comfort when you're together. "love is friendship that has caught on fire." yeah.
eventually, we had to go back to where his car was parked at the restaurant, so he could pass on some board games so his ex wouldn't take them. we managed to not get lost because i'm very good at finding my way around places even in the dark. leo's sense of direction is shit - which i already knew - and i should remember that when we go places to just follow my intuition. 😂
we got back and we sat in the car and watched some music videos of this excellent music which i love. he's got a wide range of musical taste and it's been nice to see some of it in action. he passed a bunch of board games on to me, which i organized in my trunk so they wouldn't slide around.
and then because neither of us wanted to leave, we sat in the car again together and just talked. his heart is so sweet. and he loves me with it. we talked about how being with each other makes us better and how happy we are being around each other.
and then he kissed me and kissed me and kissed me until it was midnight, and then he wished me a happy birthday before kissing me again.
i love being kissed - tiny pecks out and about. cheek and forehead kisses when i'm doing something. making out in a car because no one wants to leave. and leo is so willing to kiss me all of the time, and i can't get enough of it.
earlier he'd said he liked my dress and that i looked nice. he put thought and deliberate actions into his outfit choice and i loved it. getting to wear his sweatshirt has been really nice.
i did get home really late and then i did talk to him again.
he's so good to me. i adore him. i love being around him. i want to be around him basically all the time.
but i'm so happy for the time we have. i look forward to when i can see him again.

Chapter Seventeen: "A bit of old parchment!"
The Great Hall seemed to be brighter than normal as I sat down at the Hufflepuff table for breakfast. My ears were ringing and my brain was threatening to break its way out of my skull. Sunday was the full moon and my forced form shifting would forever be an unwelcomed one.
I remember when Fred found me this morning in the Room of Requirement, weak from a night of torture and completely alone with my animal instincts. Fred had brought the spare pair of school robes I kept in his trunk, along with my book bag that was already full of what I needed for today.
It would always shock me at Fred’s kindness the morning after a full moon, and his insisting to carry my bag around everywhere because I physical couldn’t do it myself.
I struggled through breakfast, feeling sick to my stomach from eating only one slice of buttered toast. I gave up on the idea of food as I rested my head on the table and waited until we had to leave for classes.
I could hear everyone start to leave and I dreaded the thought of walking all the way down to Hagrid’s hut for Care of Magical Creatures. Charlotte volunteered to carry my bag for me, which I begrudgingly gave to her. All I had to do now was get through the rest of today, and I would be golden.
Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology went by smoother than expected. Charles Beecher and his goonies stayed clear of Charlotte and I during Herbology, which was definitely a plus. By the end of Herbology, it was a stretch to say I was just hungry. I was absolutely ravenous. I was even going back for second helpings of food and was completely ignoring the look of bewilderment from Abby as she watched me devour my food. I was so caught up in eating that I didn’t even realise that Fred had been standing behind me. Only with a jab in the ribs from Tara’s elbow got me to stop scoffing down my food. I looked at her in confusion as I stared at her, eyebrows pinched before she motioned her head behind us.
I swallowed the mouthful of casserole before craning my neck back. The sight of Fred was a welcomed one. He was slouched in a relaxed way with his left hand shoved into his pants pocket, the other was holding onto his book bag strap. He was wearing a warm smile as he looked down at me.
“You ready to go?” Fred asked as he adjusted the bag strap on his shoulder. His face adorned an amused smile as he watched my face fill with over exaggerated disappointment.
“Is it that time already?” I asked him.
“Unfortunately.” Fred answered and huffed. My shoulders slumped, then I nodded to the girls and they all got up also. Fred held out his hand expectantly, waiting for me to hand my book bag over to him.
“I think I can carry my own bag.” I said to Fred as we headed for the Great Hall doors. All Fred did was raise an eyebrow as he watched me struggle to carry my bag. The fact that it was barely full is what frustrated me the most about this whole situation. By the time we reached the Great Hall doors, my breathing was slightly laboured and I had to lean on the wall in the foyer.
Fred rested a hand on my shoulder softly and grabbed my bag that I let hang from my hand. My head was swimming and my senses were on fire. The food that I consumed during first break felt like it was going to escape me as queasiness set in. Then Fred was rubbing soothing circles into my back. I slammed my eyes shut as the world swerved sideways.
“You gonna be all right?” Fred asked as I stood up straight and made a beeline for the Foyer doors.
“I will be once I sit down.” I answered him. Fred slung my book bag over his other shoulder and we kept close to each other as we walked down to the dungeons of Hogwarts for potions.
My ears were ringing as I sat down in Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. It was fair to say that Remus looked a lot poorer than I. His clothes hung looser on him as I watched him teach us about Vampire bats.
The class went by in a blur as all we did was jot down notes and listen to Remus. By the end of the lesson, I noticed Remus’s face grow greyer and greyer, and I’m sure my face reflected his as I felt myself become more and more ill by the second.
When the lesson concluded, I took upon the liberty and pulled Remus to the side, only daring to speak once the classroom emptied.
“Bit rough today, Remus.” I said as I noticed the dark purple rings under his eyes. He nodded sluggishly and leaned against his desk.
“It’s been a rough week.” Remus said and ran a hand over his face.
“Will you be all right?” I asked him and placed a ginger hand on his arm. Remus then looked up at me with reassurance, the way he always has after he recovers from the full moon.
“Yes, Azure. I’ll be quite all right.” Remus said and rubbed my arm, then I watched as a thought floated through his eyes.
“What is it?” I asked Remus.
“I was wondering, once the new term starts, if you would join Harry and I in some extra-curricular lesson?” Remus asked, despite his tone implying it being more of a statement.
“What would these extra-curricular lesson entail?” I asked and Remus’ face lit up.
“Harry asked me earlier today if I could help him defend himself from the Dementors,” Remus started as he buried his hands into his pockets. “And I believe it would be in your best interest if you learnt, also. Seeing as Sirius is your father.” Remus said with the same sensitivity as when I was told who my father is.
“If you think so, I’ll go.” I said to Remus after a short pause.
“Good, good,” Remus said, then the sound of the Bells chiming to signal the start of dinner rang in both our ears. We grimaced and hissed with pain, I even covered my ears with my hands, then Fred’s scent wafted through the air.
I turned around to find him leaning against the doorframe at the back of the classroom. Remus snorted beside me and I swatted at his arm with my eyebrows pinched together.
“You better hurry along to your boyfriend, then.” Remus chuckled which earned him another swat to the arm before I departed the classroom. By the time I reached Fred, he held out his hand and I handed over my bag to him.
As we made it to the Great Hall for dinner, I sat down at the Gryffindor table without a second thought. I planted myself in between Fred and George and soon, Harry, Ron, and Hermione sat in front of us.
“Hey, Azure.” Ron greeted with a warm smile before digging into a roast chicken leg.
“Hey, guys.” I greeted the trio back as I started cutting up my roast beef. The thought of food still disgusted me, but I knew I needed to eat if I wanted to get better.
“Any news on Black?” Harry asked aloud. The six of us stilled in our seats, then I felt Fred’s knee bump into mine in a comforting manner.
“Nothing since Halloween.” I answered as I stabbed at my roast beef. I could see an anger bubble under Harry’s skin, I couldn’t figure out why, but I watched as his fingers twitched irritably during dinner. It irked me to see Harry so wound tight, like a rubber band about to snap.
I shook my head to rid myself of analysing Harry as dinner continued. One by one, everyone started to head back to the dorms, but then it was just Fred and I. We couldn’t stop chatting about anything and everything. I even told him how my form shifting isn’t as painful anymore, and he genuinely seemed proud of me.
“You’ll have to show me some time.” Fred said and I agreed before we headed out of the Great Hall.
We found ourselves talking about the next Quidditch match, which would be Hufflepuff versus Ravenclaw. To say I was nervous was an understatement. Despite the Hufflepuff team claiming we like to play purely out of fun would be a lie on my part. I always secretly wanted to progress further than just the one match, but it was the good spirits of the team that would extinguish any and all bitterness to losing.
When I awoke on Saturday morning, I was pumped to say the least to play Quidditch again but was soon devastated when we were absolutely flattened by Ravenclaw.
I found myself in the showers. I haven’t felt so disappointed from losing since second year. We couldn’t even make it to fifty points before Ravenclaw’s Seeker, Cho Chang, caught the Golden Snitch.
I growled under my breath before turning the water off and drying myself. I was consumed with tunnel vision of the match and reminded myself of the detentions I had to attend until the end of term when I left the showers, but then a new thought popped into my head which lightened my mood significantly, grabbing a Butterbeer with Fred Weasley at Hogsmeade.
Two weeks had passed and the last Hogsmeade trip of the term was upon us. The weather had turned frosty as the first snow of the season had fallen.
I was wrapped up in my heaviest jacket and thickest fur-lined boots. My hair was pulled back into a half up, half down fashion, secured with a golden maple leaf clip. The twins and I were walking along the third floor corridor as we were inspecting the Marauder’s Map.
“Hey, look,” I said and pointed to a moving banner labelled Harry Potter. “You think it’s time to give him the Map?” I asked the twin’s.
“No time like the present.” George said as he pulled his beanie further over his ears.
“Mischief managed.” Fred said as he tapped the Map with his wand and handing it to me. We then headed over and all huddled behind the One-eyed Witch statue and waited for Harry to appear.
“Psst-Harry!” George said as the three of us peered around the corner at him. Harry stopped in his tracks and turned around to us.
“What are you doing?” Harry asked genuinely curious. “How come you’re not going to Hogsmeade?” He asked and walked over to us.
“We’ve come to give you a bit of festive cheer before we go,” Fred said as he winked cheekily at Harry, I giggled as I felt something wild build up in my chest. “Come in here…” Fred said before the four of us headed into an empty classroom left of the statue. George closed the door behind us softly but beamed at Harry once he turned around to us.
“Early Christmas present for you, Harry.” George said.
I opened my jacket wide in a Dracula sort of way and placed the map on the desk that stood between us. I watched as Harry put his guard up as he peered down at the parchment, probably thinking he was to be pranked shortly.
“What’s that supposed to be?” Harry asked as he scratched the back of his neck.
“This, Harry, is the secret of our success.” George said as he patted the map.
“Along with our talented Azurielle.” Fred added proudly. I beamed at Fred and it was hard to hide my blush at his compliment.
“Pulls a bit at the heart strings.” I commented.
“It’s a wrench, giving it to you,” Fred told Harry, and the three of us knew it to be true. “But we decided last night, your need’s are greater than ours.” Fred continued. Harry looked up from the Marauder’s Map and looked between the three of us.
“We’re doing this out of the goodness of our hearts, Harry.” I said and placed a hand over my heart.
“Anyway, we know it off by heart,” George said nonchalantly. “We bequeath it to you. We don’t really need it anymore.” George ended with a shrug.
“And what do I need with a bit of old parchment?” Harry asked confused.
“A bit of old parchment!” Fred said and closed his eyes as he cringed.
“It’s more than just parchment, Harry.” I interjected.
“Explain, George.” Fred said in a heartbroken way.
“Well…when we were in our first year, Harry-young, carefree and innocent-“ Harry then snorted at this in amusement. “-Well, more innocent than we are now-we got into a spot of bother with Filch.”
“We let off a Dungbomb in the corridor and it upset him for some reason-“ Fred added to the tale.
“Y’know, the usual.” I said and gave a careless shrug.
“So, he hauled us off to his office and started to threaten the usual-“ George continued.
“Detention-“ I interjected.
“Disembowelment-“ Fred added.
“And we couldn’t help noticing a drawer in one of the filing cabinets marked Confiscated and Highly Dangerous.” George said and we saw that we had Harry hooked on our story.
“Don’t tell me-“Harry said as we saw a smile start to spread across his face.
“Well, what would you’ve done?” Fred asked Harry. “George caused a diversion by dropping another Dungbomb, Azurielle whipped the drawer open and grabbed-this.” Fred said and tapped the Marauder’s Map.
“It was a great heist, if I do say so myself.” I said and Harry laughed as I bounced my eyebrows at him.
“It’s not as bad as it sounds, you know,” George started. “We don’t reckon Filch ever figured out how to work it. He probably suspected what it was, though, or he wouldn’t have confiscated it.” George finished.
“And you know how to work it?” Harry asked, craving more information.
“Oh, yes,” Fred said and I saw that all too familiar mischievous smirk grace his lips. “This little beauty’s taught us more than all the teachers in this school.”
“You’re winding me up.” Harry said as he stared down at the Map.
“Oh, are we?” I asked cheekily through a giggle.
“Azurielle, you may have the honours.” Fred said.
“Why thank you, Fred,” I said before pulling out my wand and lightly touched the Map before saying. “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
The four of us then watched at the blotches and lines of a reddish ink started to appear where my wand touch the worn parchment. Words began to reveal themselves as the ink became more pronounced. We then saw the all too familiar cover page of the Map.
Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs Purveyors of Aids to Magical Mischief-Makers are proud to present
THE MARAUDER’S MAP
The map started to flow with more ink as the map of the castle started to really cement itself into the parchment. Ink started to move around as it identified people and their footsteps.
We watched as Harry leaned over the Map and searched it. He then paused on one spot in the top left corner of the Map. Professor Dumbledore was written on the label and was showing that he was pacing in his study again. Mrs Norris was seen on the second floor and even Peeves the Poltergeist was in the Trophy room. Then we watched as Harry’s eyes trailed along all the different passageways that lead to Hogsmeade.
“Right into Hogsmeade,” Fred said as he noticed Harry’s sudden interest in the hidden passageways. “There are seven in all. Now, Filch knows about these four-“ Fred said and pointed on the Map “But we’re sure we’re the only ones who know about these.” Fred said and pointed to more passageways. “Don’t bother with the one behind the mirror on the fourth floor. We used it until last winter, but it’s caved in-completely blocked.”
“And we don’t reckon anyone used this one, because of the Whomping Willow, of course. I tried to last year and had no luck and was left with a broken leg.” I said to Harry and he looked alarmed to say the least.
“But this one here, this one leads right into Honeydukes cellar. We’ve used it loads of times.” Fred added.
“I only used it about a month ago and it’s still a good way to get to Hogsmeade.” I said to Harry.
“How come you needed to use the passageway?” Harry asked curiously.
“I had detention.” I lied to Harry and I ignored the look Fred gave me.
“And as you might’ve noticed,” Fred started. “The entrance is right outside this room, through that one-eyed old crone’s hump.” Fred ended.
“Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs,” George said through a sigh as he patted the map. “We owe them so much.”
“Noble men, working tirelessly to help a new generation of law-breakers.” Fred said ceremoniously.
“If only we could thank them in person.” I added.
“Right,” George said quickly. “Don’t forget to wipe it after you’ve used it-“
“Or anyone can read it-“ Fred added.
“And we don’t want just anyone reading it.” I said to Harry quite seriously.
“Just tap it again and say, ‘Mischief managed!’ And it’ll go blank.” George instructed, then the Map went blank just as George said it would.
“So, young Harry,” Fred started in a way that made him look like he was impersonating Percy. “Mind you behave yourself.”
“See you two in Honeydukes.” George winked. Fred’s hand lingered on my arm before he and George left with smirks on their faces, satisfied with their gift giving. Harry then watched them leave but turned back to me with his eyebrows knitted together.
“You’re not going to go with them?” Harry asked as he picked up the Map.
“Detention till the end of term for me,” I explained to Harry and Harry nodded. “C’mon, open it.” I encouraged. Harry then whipped out his wand and tapped the Map.
“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” Harry said and I watched as a giddy smile bloomed on his face. We both saw Mrs Norris turn to the left on the Map and sniff at something on the floor. I watched as Harry traced the passageway to Honeydukes with his finger before he tapped it, closed it, and shoved it inside of his robes.
“Ready to go?” I asked Harry.
“Yes.” Harry said and I saw the excitement trying not to burst out of him. We both walked over to the door of the classroom and Harry opened it only enough to peer down the corridor.
“Anyone there?” I asked Harry.
“No one.” Harry replied and we both slipped out of the classroom and hid behind the statue of the one-eyed witch. Harry then pulled out the Map, then his eyebrows hit his hairline as our names blotched onto the parchment. But then he looked up at me as if I had betrayed him.
“You-your father is-“
“Sirius Black. I know,” I said and felt frozen in place. My attention was brought to Harry’s hand that was tightening on his wand as he raised it between us, ready to fire. “But I promise you, I had nothing to do with him breaking into the castle on Halloween.” I blurted and watched as Harry took a breath.
“If Fred and George have left me here with you, then they don’t see me as a threat.” I tried to reason.
“You’re right,” Harry said. “Anymore secrets?” Harry asked expectantly.
“I’ll tell you everything once we’re in the tunnel. More private that way.” I promised him. Harry then nodded and looked back down to the Map.
Harry’s eyes danced over the Map before settling on the statue before tapping it. Nothing happened.
“Really look at the Map, Harry.” I encouraged timidly. Then a miniature Harry revealed itself on the Map and produced a speech bubble above it, reading ‘Dissendium.’
“Dissendium.” Harry said and tapped the statue. The hump on the statue opened.
“Ladies first.” I joked and Harry hoisted himself up onto the hump and dove headfirst into the passageway. I waited a short minute before following Harry through the passageway. As I slid down the Witch I soon saw a light at the end of the tunnel. When I reached the end of the slide, I was met with the cold and damp dirt on the tunnel that led to Honeydukes.
“Tell me,” Harry said bravely. “Tell me everything.” It was as if I was dunked in icy water as his eyes pierced into mine.
“Where should I begin?” I asked Harry, he paused for a moment before answering.
“When did you find out he was your…” Harry trailed off, but I knew what his question was.
“I found out Sirius Black is my father when I was five years old, two years after he was sent to Azkaban.” I answered Harry. “My mother was still alive by then.” I added. Harry then stopped in his tracks and I turned back around to look at him. He was asking me a question without even voicing it. “My mother died when I was six.” I informed Harry.
“I-I’m sorry.” Harry stuttered.
“It’s okay,” I told him. “I’ve got Izaya who took guardianship of me, he works in the Ministry.”
“Really?” harry asked.
“Yeah, he works in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures seeing as he is a Skinwalker, which is what my mother was.” I elaborated.
“That means you’re a Skinwalker.” Harry deduced and we started to walk again.
“Correct,” I answered. “One of the most dangerously rated creatures across the board.” I said.
“You don’t look so dangerous.” Harry said, and this lifted my spirits slightly as we began to walk down the tunnel.
“That’s good to know then.” I said with a laugh and we became silent for the first time in this tunnel.
“You really don’t know why Black is here?” Harry asked but I took a moment to think about my answered.
“I thought he’d be here to get to me, but then he tried to get into the Gryffindor common room so that completely threw me off,” I said with a shrug. “But he was a Gryffindor when he was at Hogwarts, so maybe he was trying to find somewhere familiar to hide from the Dementors.” I suggested.
As we continued down the tunnel to Honeydukes, a comfortable silence fell between Harry and me. My guess was that his mind was racing with all the reasons as to why Sirius had broken into the castle, or if it were really him in the first place.
“Can you turn into anything?” Harry asked out of the blue. I perked up a bit in surprise at his questioned.
“Three forms so far.” I answered him, and by now we were starting on a slight incline, indicating we were nearing the Honeydukes cellar.
“So far?” Harry’s voice was filled with confusion.
“There’s a legend among the Skinwalkers that there was someone who could change into four animals. One being a dragon! But it was a hundred years ago, so who knows if it was actually true.” I told Harry and his eyebrows furrowed in thought.
“Can you speak-when you change, I mean.?” Harry blurted and the incline dramatically shifted upwards.
“Not yet. That’s something I’m currently working on.” I said as my breathing started to become heavier as the incline rose and soon, stone steps emerge from the cold ground and ascended out of sight.
“How many steps are there?” Harry asked as he stared upwards.
“Two hundred and thirty-five,” Harry blanched at me and I nodded. “You better go first, Harry.” I said and ushered him in front of me.
“How come?” Harry asked but started to climb the stone steps.
“Because you’ll need to open the trapdoor for me.” I said, then in a flash of light I was in my wolf form. Harry stumbled on the steps before looking back at me, and all I could do was tilt my head to the side. Harry stood frozen for a moment, just staring at me. I motioned with my head upwards and Harry took the hint and marched on.
We were completely silent at this point; even Harry’s footsteps had lightened significantly against the stone. I had lost count somewhere around the one hundred and seventy mark, but Harry and I were abruptly stopped as Harry’s head smacked into the trapdoor.
A concerned whine lift my mouth as Harry rubbed the topped of his head. We both listened for a while and came to the conclusion that it was safe to open the trapdoor.
As Harry inched open the trapdoor, he peered over the edge and looked around before he hauled himself through the opening. Harry held the hatch open and I took the opportunity and jumped up into the cellar.
Muffled voices could be heard as we took a few tentative steps towards the entrance of the cellar, but I froze in my tracks. I could hear footsteps coming closer and closer on the other side of the cellar door then soon heard a woman’s voice shouting.
“And get another box of Jelly Slugs, they’ve nearly cleaned us out-“ Soon there were a pair of footsteps, and the cellar door opening made Harry and I hide behind a couple of crates near the trap door.
As I peeked out from behind the crates I could see a man rifling through a crate himself directly opposite us. I nudged Harry with my nose and we made a quick getaway. Harry opened the door to the cellar and let me pass through before shutting the door.
We found ourselves behind the counter of Honeydukes, but I paid no mind to it as I trotted under the counter and waited for Harry. Just like last time, the place looked like it was about to burst open from the amount of Hogwarts students in Honeydukes. None of them paid any attention to Harry and I as we weaved through the sea of students. I watched as Harry gawked in awe at the different products on the shelf, even stopping for a second when his eyes landed on Pepper Imps.
We continued through Honeydukes until we made ourselves over to the furthest corner of the shop to where Ron and Hermione were standing underneath a sign reading ‘Unusual Tastes.’ As we neared them, I noticed they were eyeing off the blood-flavoured lollipops.
“Ugh, no, Harry won’t want one of those, they’re for vampires, I expect.” Hermione said to Ron.
“How about these?” Ron suggested as he held up a jar of Cockroach clusters to Hermione who in turn, curled her nose up at them. Harry and I then crept up closer behind the pair before Harry spoke.
“Definitely not.” Harry said and Ron almost dropped the jar of clusters. Hermione startled before turning to Harry and a smile erupted onto his face.
“Harry!” Hermione ear piercing squeal reached my ears. “What are you doing here? How-How did you-?“
“Wow! You’ve learnt to Apparate!” Ron said impressed before his eyes cast downwards as he noticed me. “Hey, Azure.”
“Course I haven’t,” Then Harry took a double take between myself and Ron. “Wait, you knew?” Harry asked.
“I’ve known all my life.” Ron quipped back and put the Cockroach Clusters back onto the shelf. Harry blanched at Ron and turned to Hermione, then blanched at her as she too had no reaction to me.
“You knew too?” Harry asked.
“We’re not really meant to tell anyone,” Ron said to Harry before he dropped his voice. “She’s unregistered with the Ministry.” Harry then stared at Ron as he processed before he nodded in understanding. Harry then told Ron and Hermione all about the Marauder’s Map.
“How come Fred and George never gave it to me! I’m their brother!” Ron said but then turned to me. “How come you never gave it to me?” Ron asked me in an accusatory tone, which was only met in response with an ear twitch.
“But Harry isn’t going to keep it!” Hermione said in an outlandish way. “He’s going to hand it into Professor McGonagall, aren’t you, Harry?” Hermione asked, but it was more of a statement.
“If I hand it in, I’ll have to say where I go it! Filch would know Azurielle, Fred and George nicked it!” Harry hissed, and as if on que, I felt the presence of the twins standing behind us.
“Hello everyone.” Fred and George said in unison. The Golden Trio greeted back in response. Fred’s eyes then cast downwards in search of me, and when he found me, I could have sworn his eyes brightened into that lovely rich chocolate shade I craved to see.
“Hello,” Fred greeted softly before his attention turned back to the group. I nudged Fred’s leg with me nose and when he looked back down, I gestured to the door, desperately wanting to be in my human form once again. “We’ll, see you lot later.” Fred farewelled quickly before he held the door open for me to exit Honeydukes.
We turned down a side alley and I hid myself behind a few crates. In a flash of light, I was back in my human form, utterly freezing, and wishing I had put on a thicker coat.
As I was patting myself down, I couldn’t help but notice Fred staring at me in wonder as he was holding my woollen scarf, waiting patiently for me to retrieve it.
“You weren’t kidding-about the light.” Fred commented as I grabbed my ochre orange scarf from him.
“Yep, and nearly entirely painless.” I said and flexed my fingers, willing the arthritic pain in my knuckles to subside.
“Now,” Fred began and a warm smile adorned his face. “How about that Butterbeer?” Fred offered as he stuffed his hands into his coat pockets.
“Gladly.” I said gratefully as we made our way out of the side alley and walked down the main street of Hogsmeade.
The sound of snow crunching below our feet was all that filled the silence between us, and soon I felt awkward, especially when Fred’s elbow frequently grazed mine. I tried to distract myself from the silence and my eyes were soon capturing the reoccurring signs posted to all the shops entrances.
I came to a halt in front of ‘Steepley & Sons Tea Shop’ and read the sign nailed to the doorframe. Fred had kept walking a few steps before noticing I had lagged behind.
“Come have a look at this.” I called to him and read the sign.
BY ORDER OF THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC Customers are reminded that until further notice, Dementors will be patrolling the streets of Hogsmeade every night after sundown. This measure has been put in place for the safety of Hogsmeade residents and will be lifted upon the recapture of Sirius Black. It is therefore advisable that you complete your shopping well before nightfall. Merry Christmas!
It was as if my heart stopped. Dementors? In Hogsmeade? Surely my father wasn’t as criminal as what the Ministry made him out to be. My eyebrows knitted together and a tightness in my chest threatened to constrict the last remaining air out of my lungs as I read the Ministry Order over and over again. My tunnel vision around the Order seemed to fall away as the weight in my hand presented itself.
As I looked down at our intertwined hands, my eyes trailed up to Fred’s concerned face. He gave my hand a squeeze and I finally came back to reality.
“Let’s go.” Fred said and tugged me along. I squeezed his hand back as we started to weave through crowds of people, and soon found ourselves closing in on the Three Broomsticks. I didn’t bother to read the sign on the doorway, already knowing what it would be about as Fred held the door open for me.
When I walked through, I was hit by a wave of warmth coming from the fireplace at the back of the Three Broomsticks. It was a welcoming feeling as I basked in the heat for a moment.
We soon found an empty table for two before Fred went off to the bar to order our drinks. As I waited for Fred to return, I revelled in the warmth from the fire but noticed the candle on our table was unlit.
With a wave of my hand, the candle lit itself just as Fred returned.
“You have to teach me how to do that.” Fred said amazed and took a seat across from me. I smiled at him earnestly and rested my head in my hand.
“In due time, Freddie,” I told him just as the door to the Three Broomsticks opened. In walked Professors McGonagall and Flitwick, Hagrid and the Minister of Magic: Cornelius Fudge. “Shit!” I hissed and was quick to hide my face in my scarf as my eyebrows hit my hairline.
“What?” Fred blurted before his eyes wandered over to the bar where they stood and ordered their drinks. “Oh.” Fred said in understanding just as a waitress placed two tankards of Butterbeer on our table. We thanked her but I couldn’t help but keep a very watchful eye and ear as they made their way closer to us, but they stopped short at a few tables away. I let go of a breath I didn’t know I was holding as Madam Rosmerta served them their drinks.
I shook my head to clear my thoughts and Fred and I chatted all afternoon in the Three Broomsticks about anything and everything, and it was safe to say that I was keen to share another drink with him when the time arose.
When we were on our third Butterbeer, I couldn’t help but let loose the burning question I had for Fred.
“Fred,” I said his name delicately. He hummed softly and brought his tankard to his lips. “Is this some sort of…” I trailed off nervously as he placed his tankard back down on the table.
“Some sort of what?” Fred asked.
“Some sort of…date?” I asked him and I swear my heart was beating so loudly that even he could hear it. Fred stilled at my question, then fidgeted in his seat before downing the rest of his drink, as if the tankard was full of some sort of liquid courage. I watched as he took a deep breath, coming back to his senses before responding.
“This is a date-if you want it to be. I think it is.” Fred ended sheepishly. My cheeks turned red hot at this and I swallowed hard.
“I think it is, too.” I admitted to him and in an instant I watched Fred’s whole demeanour change. He sat up straighter and his eyes were brighter despite how dim and moody the lighting was in the Three Broomsticks.
“So, what now?” I asked Fred as my knee gave a nervous twitch under the table.
“I think it’s best I ask you out for a Butterbeer, properly this time.” Fred said genuinely and reached for my hand that was splayed out on the table.
“So?” I asked humorously.
“Oh, right!” Fred said loudly. Before clearing his throat dramatically. “Azure, may you join me to share another Butterbeer next Hogsmeade visit?”
“I would love to, Fred.” I giggled and downed the last of my drink before my ears picked up the conversation Cornelius Fudge was having with Madam Rosmerta.

Chapter one I can't believe my mom and my step dad are going to miss my 10th birthday just for a dumb honeymoon to South America for two weeks. So, I have to stay at my aunt Kacy's house. But at least her house is surrounded by wood, which means no loud noise or bad smells and no city stuff!
As I close my note book and left the words I wrote, looking out the car window I saw nothing but the country side and I can't help but smile."Hey Sara," I look over at my mom.
"Yea?" "We'll be at aunt Kacy's house in about an hour so make sure you have all your stuff,"
"I already know I have everything ok." I said trying to stay civil. I went back to staring mindlessly out of the window, losing myself in the beautiful landscape as it shifted from bleak plain to deep words. I saw streams of running water and some deer drinking out of it.
When we arrived the sun was falling down into the horizon. I stumbled out of the car, my legs locked up from the ride. I lifted the trunk door up and heaved my duffle bag out of it. Then Kacy came rushing out of the house a glowing smile on her face, "Hey you three! There you are! What happened? You guys are a bit late,"
"We got a little lost on the way here," My mum said.
"Ah, it happens. Right, Sara your room is up the stairs and is the last door on the right, get up there and get comfy, okay?"
"Sure thing." I moved past her, struggling to carry my bag inside. Kacy shut the screen door behind me, I didn't pay it much attention. I bounded up the steps and walked to my room, *last door on the right, last door on the right...ah here it is*
When I enter my room I was taken aback. It was coated in a beautiful emerald green, and in the centre of the wall opposite was a large window. In the far right corner of the room there was a queen size bed, on the left side there was a small closet and a desk sitting in front of the window giving a great view into the woods. The room was spacious, I felt lost inside of it, "Wow," I said aloud. "This is bigger than my room at home." As I went to put my stuff away I heard my mother's car rumble to life and then I heard them drive away and the screen door opened and then it shut with that loud creek. With pain in my heart and sadness in my throat I sighed, *they didn't even say goodbye* I then heard Kacy calling me. I stood up and went off into the hallway and then jogged down the stairs, "Yeah?"
"Are you hungry?"
My stomach growled, I guess I was hungry. I hopped up on one of the wooden stools aligned against the counter, "Yea I guess I am a little hungry" I chuckle. After we ate a filling meal composed of chicken, vegetables and roast potatoes we sat up on the couch with a blanket each popcorn within reach and watched a movie. Time passed us by and soon it was midnight, "You got another movie in you, Sara?"
"Um I think I'll just go to bed,"
"No worries, kiddo. Night,"
"Goodnight."
The next day I go down stairs to eat breakfast "good morning Sara how did u sleep?" she asked me as she flips some pancakes. "good. hey, can I go and explore the woods today?" I asked, "yeah go right ahead." after breakfast I head outside, as I'm walking around the place I can hear lots of wildlife, birds chirping the wind hitting the leaves to the trees it was just so peaceful then I see what looks to be a really old path, as I'm going down the path it starts to open up a small bit, there's a creak by the path. I soon come across small a clearing with a gigantic tree in the middle and a pond.
After looking around the tree and pond for a while I decide to explore some more. I see a game trail off to the left of the pond. I follow it to see what kinds of animals live here. I could see all kinds of tracks deer, elk, raccoon, bobcat, and... one I'm not familiar with it looked like a giant wolf track but it was weird, I take my phone out to take a picture of it to show aunt Kacy. As I started walking again, the forest went silent.
I know when the forest goes quiet there is a predator close by so I decide to go back, the hairs on my neck go up, I get the feeling I'm being watched. I finely got back to the giant tree and pond I found. I looked around the area, since I didn't see anything around the small clearing so I started walking again. I heard a growl, I've never heard a growl like that before. It scared me to death a deer came running throw the trees. There was something chasing it whatever had growled at me went and ran after the deer as well that's when I decide to run the rest of the way back to the house.
(Sara's P.O.V) (notebook) Day 2 at Kacy's
it's so nice and peaceful here I never want to leave. I found a really cool place, there is a giant tree right by a small lake the water is like glass and it's a silvery aquamarine color and a oak tree. I can't wait to see what else is here. I just had the weirdest thing happen. I found a weird wolf track and then the forest went quiet and as I was walking back something growled at me and then there was something chasing a deer and the thing that growled at me ran after the deer to then I got back to the house I told Kacy about the track I found and showed her the pitcher I took of it and she asked me to show her. As we were walking we found another track that was closer to the house and she made a cast of it I went back to the house by myself.
I close my notebook as soon put it down my phone goes off I jumped. I grab my phone to see that my best friend's Kayla and Emily want to video chat on the computer, I go over to the desk and sit down with my heart still racing from the jump scare. I got on the computer, and got on the video chat. "hey how are you guys?" "were good. How about you." "well... some weird stuff has been going on here." "like what?" Kayla asks I told them what happened. "well it could be a coywolf" Emily said, (coywolves are a wolf coyote mix) "I don't know but just about an hour ago" I said. "Wow that scary" Kayla said, "well I still think it's a coywolf." Emily said. It was now about 11:00 at night "well night guys." "night." they said in unison.
I went and got in the shower then got ready for bed as I was lying in bed I kept thinking about what happen earlier that day I soon closed my eyes and fell asleep.
(Day 3)
That morning I walk down stairs got breakfast and I went and looked at the paw print and study it. The print looked odd it looked like a normal wolf track but twice the size. I went in to the kitchen and left a note for my aunt telling her that I was going for a walk and that I had my knife with me.
I was going back to the tree just to hang out there and relax. Once I got to where I could see the bottom of the tree I saw a wolf. I gasped and it looked at me and we made eye contact and it's eyes were a beautiful green color. I looked away from it eyes and its fur was black. It stopped about 10 feet away from me, I felt like I was about to cry I was so scared, it started sniffing the air and he walked towards me it was now 5 feet away from me. It then leaned forwards and sniffed me I whimpered and his head shot back and he looked at me tears were running down my cheeks, I closed my eyes. the wolf's shoulders came up to my knees. It started sniffing me again and walked around me, once it got in front of me again, it looked at me and it whined at me. I opened my eyes and stared at the black wolf and he stared right back at me. i took a deep breath and slowly lifted my hand up for him to sniff but right then, there was a howl from far away he turned his head and ran off. I just sat there in shock. I ran back to the house. I went running through the door crying. Kacy came running from the living room " Sarah what's wrong?" "there was a giant wolf. It came up to me and it sniffed me." I said still crying "what are u ok did it bite you or anything?" "no but it was giant. and there was a howl from somewhere and when it heard that it ran off." I said starting to calm down "well let's just sit down and watch some T.V. Ok?"
(Notebook) Day 3 at Kacy's Its June 15th, 2010
I went back to the giant tree and there was what I thought was a large wolf next to it, and it walked over to me and sniffed me then ran off. I don't know what to think. It wasn't aggressive at me at all even after I looked in to its eyes. I just don't know.
(time skip 4 days) (Sara's P.O.V.) Notebook Day 7 at aunt Kacy's)
Me and Kacy have spent the last couple of days fishing and hiking but I always felt like I was being watch but it made me feel safe, but to day is my birth day and i'm just going to explore the woods some more.
I was walking throughout the forest when I heard a growl, a grizzly came charging out of the woods at me, I screamed and fell backwards. I heard something bounding towards me from behind. Just as the bear was a few feet in front of me, a giant shape came flying over me and tackled the bear. It was that giant wolf. It stoud up and roared at the bear.
The bear stood up and roared back at the wolf. I was crying as the bear hit the wolf with its massove paw leaving a large bloody gash across its chest. I got up and took off running back to the house about half way back I ran in to Kacy "what's going on" she asks me as I just ran past her "werewolf grizzly bear fighting" I screamed as I ran hearing the fight behind me.
Me and Kacy were sitting in the living room I was still crying. Later that night I grabbed my notebook and stared writing.
(Notebook) Day 7 at aunt Kacy's June 22, 2010
I just saw a werewolf but it was in the day I thought werewolf only came out during the full moon it was the same thing I saw on the 15th I am never going back in those woods ever and I'm not telling anyone.

Anniversary
Pairing: Adam Ruzek x reader
Summary: It's Y/n and Adam's first wedding anniversary, and they want nothing more than to spend the night with the team
Requested: Yes, by anonymous
Warnings: slight swearing and hints at sex
Word Count: 1,367 Words
The smell of breakfast was what woke me up. The bedroom door was cracked open, and the delicious scent of blueberry pancakes wafted in from the kitchen. I stretched my arms above my head before climbing out of bed to see what Adam was up to. My husband was standing in front of the stove, humming to himself as he flipped the pancake that was in the pan in front of him. I made my way over to Adam and wrapped my arms around his waist, squeezing him softly.
"Good morning," I greet. "You're up awfully early."
"I wanted to bring you breakfast in bed," Adam countered. "But now you're out of bed, so I guess that idea is out the window."
"I appreciate the thought though, Adam. And you made my favorite," I notice.
"Of course I did," Adam confirmed and turned around to face me, pushing me back against the island that was right behind me. I was now trapped between Adam and the island, but I didn't mind. Adam then leaned down and pressed his lips to mine for a quick kiss. "Happy Anniverary, darling."
"Happy Anniversary," I return and pull him back down for another kiss. This one lasted longer than the last one, neither of us wanting to pull away. Suddenly, Adam slipped his hands under my thighs and lifted me up to situate me on the island. I smiled against my husband's lips, moving my own hands up to cup Adam's face. The feeling of his body pressed against my own and the way his hands grasped at my sides made me never want to pull away. But the scent of something burning hit my nostrils, and I distanced my lips from Adam's. "Adam? Do you smell that?"
"It's just the pancake cooking. Everything's good," Adam assured me as he kissed at my neck. It was then that I saw the smoke beginning to rise up from the pan on the stove, and the burning smell got even stronger.
"Adam, the pancake!" I shriek. Adam frowned, but when he turned around, he saw that the pancake in the pan was indeed burning. Quickly, he turned off the stove, and using a nearby rag, he lifted up the pan and set it in the sink, waving away the smoke.
"Okay, so this pancake is a goner," Adam admitted. "But the good news is I already made like eight, so we're all good."
"Imagine if you would've burned our apartment down on our anniversary," I joke.
"Ha ha. Very funny. That never would've happened," Adam claimed, and wrapped one arm around my waist to bring me off of the island and back to the ground. "So, what do you want to do tonight? Go out to dinner? Walk around downtown? Stay in and watch cheesy rom-coms? The choice is yours."
"What if we go out for lunch to your favorite sandwich place?" I pose. "Then we can spend some time downtown, maybe sit by the lake? And then later we can invite the team over for pizza and beers. I don't think any of them have seen the new apartment yet. That sound okay to you?"
"As long as I can get you in bed with me at the end of the night, I'm fine with that," Adam professed.
"Adam!" I laugh and smack his chest playfully.
"What? It's our anniversary," Adam defended. "If you think I'm not gonna get a little lovin' later...."
"Don't worry. You'll get plenty," I assure him. "Now come on. I'm starving. And the pancakes that you didn't burn smell amazing!"
....................................................
"I've got those," Adam spoke and grabbed the pizza boxes from the backseat of his Jeep before I could.
"Okay, then I'll get the beers," I say and head for the trunk.
"I can get those too," Adam insisted.
"Adam, you're not gonna carry the pizzas and the beers," I lecture him. "I've got it. Seriously."
"You shouldn't be doing any work on your anniversary," Adam said.
"It's your anniversary too," I remind him. "So we're gonna split the work."
"Babe!" Adam whined. "Why can't I just do one thing for you?"
"Babe, why can't I just do one thing for you?" I mock back as the two of us headed towards the apartment entrance.
Later that night, our friends shows up to the apartment one by one. Kim was the first person to arrive, which was no surprise. She was on time to everything. Then Jay and Hailey showed up, the two of them claiming they hadn't had a relaxing night off in a while. And shortly after them, Kevin came, giving me a bear hug and Adam a fist bump. So now us and all of our co-workers from Intelligence were sitting around the living room eating greasy pizza and drinking beer.
"Man, I cannot believe that you guys have been married for a year already," Kim commented.
"I know," Kevin agreed. "It feels like just yesterday Adam was having a nervous breakdown in the locker room over proposing to you."
"Hey man! It's terrifying, okay? Probably the scariest thing I've ever done in my life," Adam justified. "And until you've had to do it, I don't want to hear shit from you."
"You shouldn't have been scared though, Adam. I mean, we had been together for three years at that point, and we already lived together. I was gonna say yes no matter how or when you asked me," I tell him.
"I just remember the two of you walking into work the next morning, and just based off how the two of you were acting, I knew it had happened. I didn't even need to see the ring," Hailey claimed.
"And that was the moment I knew I had lost my best friend forever," Jay joked and took a sip of his beer.
I scoffed playfully. "Oh please, Jay. You could never lose me. I mean, sure, we haven't been partners at work in ages, but we manage to joke around every chance we get. Changing the subject, what do you guys think of the new apartment? I don't think any of you have seen it yet."
"It's amazing," Hailey remarked. "Seriously."
"And for only being here a month, you guys are all moved in. That's impressive, considering how lazy Adam is with that type of stuff," Kim pointed out.
"Hey! I am not lazy! I'm just slow to get things done," Adam corrected.
"Speaking of the new place, all of us decided to bring you guys something," Kevin announced and grabbed a bag from behind the chair he was sitting in.
"What! Guys, you didn't have to get us anything!" I exclaim and take the bag from him.
"We know, but we wanted to. Now open it," Jay instructed.
From where Adam and I were sitting together on the chair, we carefully pulled the tissue paper out of the bag. Pulling out the large item from the bag, I realized it was a frame. And inside of that frame was a picture from our wedding. Adam and I were front and center, and surrounding us were our friends and family. All of the Intelligence Unit was there, including Voight, and so was Adam's dad, Bob, and his sister and nephew. Then there was my mom and dad, plus my two brothers and niece. Intelligence was my second family, so seeing them standing alongside both me and Adam's real family was amazing.
"We know you guys have been wanting to get this picture framed for a while now but just haven't had the time, so we figured we'd get it done for you," Kim declared.
"This is awesome, guys. Thank you!" I chirp. "I can't wait to hang it up!"
"And I think I know the perfect place for it," Adam affirmed and stood up, taking the frame with him. He then walked over to the wall that the tv stand was on and held it against the large open space. "What do we think?"
"Looks perfect," Hailey piped up.
"It really does," I concur and stand up. "Adam and I really appreciate it, guys. You're all amazing. Now, who wants another beer?"

Never Have I Ever - Hangman
Pairing: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin x Fem!Reader
Prompt: You and the gang take a vacation and you’re afraid Hangman is upset with you.
Written with @fanficgirl429 <3
Thank you, I hope you enjoy! xo
--------------------------------------------------------
The snow was starting to pick up when Rooster parked the Bronco in the driveway of our rental cabin. Hangman, Phoenix, Coyote, Rooster, and I had just gotten back from a long day on the slopes. We all exited the car and walked around to the back, grabbing our gear from the trunk.
I stayed towards the back and waited for the others to grab their board and boots. When it was just Hangman and I, I stepped to the side so that he could grab his equipment. He held his hand out, gesturing for me to go first. I grabbed my boots that were tied together, and threw them over my shoulder, freeing up my hands to carry my equipment.
“Thanks,” I said to Jake.
Jake didn’t say anything as he pulled his board and boots out of the car. I waited for him to close the trunk and walked besides him to the porch. It was unlike him to not say anything- he was rarely speechless.
He placed his hand on the doorknob, but I reached out to stop him.
“Are you okay?” I asked him.
“Yeah I’m fine, why?”
“You just seem like your annoyed or something.”
He shook his head, “Nope, I’m fine!”
I nodded at him and let him enter the house. I had always had feelings for Jake, but I was never able to admit them to him. Maybe that was best, seeing as lately he seemed to be nothing but annoyed by me.
Coyote had just started a fire in the oversized living room as I walked into the house. Phoenix and Rooster were already seated on the large couch, fighting over who got to pick what we would watch. Jake sat down on the far end, almost like he was trying to sit as far from me as possible.
“We should play a game,” Phoenix said, reaching for the remote one last time from Rooster and winning.
“Truth or dare?” Rooster suggested.
“We’re not twelve,” Phoenix whined. “What about never have I ever?”
I shoved Rooster to the side and squeezed in between him and Phoenix, “Oh, let’s play never have I ever!”
“I’ll start!” Coyote yelled, handing out beers before he sat down beside Jake. “Never have I ever flown below the hard deck in an exercise!”
“Jake put a finger down!” I yelled, and turned to Rooster who had just put a finger down, “You guys just love living life on the edge, huh?”
“You bet,” Rooster said, placing his hand on my thigh.
I unintentionally looked up at Jake whose eyes focused on Rooster’s hand. He quickly looked away once he saw that I noticed.
“Alright, who’s next?” Coyote asked, glancing around at everyone.
“I’ll go!” I said, resting my head on Phoenix's shoulder. “Never have I ever gotten kicked out of a bar for hitting on the married owner.”
Everyone laughed and Jake sat up. “That isn’t fair! You can’t target people, Y/N.”
“Too bad, I just did,” I said, sticking my tongue at him, “put another finger down!”
I took a sip of my beer and smiled at him, he smiled back. He was still acting weird, but I’d confront him about it later.
Phoenix leaned forward and placed her beer on the floor, “My turn! Never have I ever, had sex with someone in this room.”
Rooster and I looked at eachother and I turned to Phoenix, “Thanks, Phoenix.”
Rooster and I both put a finger down at the same time. I glanced over at Jake and saw the scowl on his face as he watched Rooster and I.
“When the hell did that happen?” Coyote asked, taking a sip of his beer.
I shook my head, “It was one time a few months ago, and we were drunk. It was no big deal, right?” I said, elbowing Rooster.
“Yeah, it was nothing, just a random drunk night,” he said.
I leaned back into the couch and looked over again at Jake. He was looking down at his phone, ignoring the conversation that was going on between Coyote, Rooster, and Phoenix.
All of a sudden he stood up and walked toward the stairs to the bedrooms.
“Guys, I'm going to take a dip in the hot tub. I’m a little sore from the slopes today.”
Everyone looked up at him and waved goodbye. I stared at him as he climbed the stairs, sad that he was leaving so soon. At that moment I wondered to myself, was he jealous of me and Rooster? He had never made any indication that he was interested in me before, but why else would he be acting this way?
A few minutes later, Jake came back down the steps wearing his bathing suit. I found myself staring at his toned body as he walked past us and out the back door. This would be the best time to confront him, when he is alone, and has nowhere to run to.
I excused myself from the others and went upstairs to change into my suit. Before leaving my room, I glanced at myself in the mirror to make sure that I looked presentable. I grabbed the white robe from behind my door and headed outside.
Jake noticed me as I walked around the hedge. He smiled and raised a hand to help me in.
“Thanks,” I said, dropping the robe and grabbing his hand. “You seem a little off today, are you sure you’re okay?”
Jake nodded as I sat down in the seat across from him. The water was warmer than I expected but it felt good on my skin. My foot brushed against his leg and I quickly pulled it away.
“Look, Y/N. I'm sorry if I've been acting weird. I really care about you, and I wouldn't want to push you away.”
I smiled at him, “It’s okay. I just thought you might be upset with me about something. You seemed mad when Phoenix said something about Rooster and I. Which, I guess you have a right to be mad since I didn’t tell you.”
Jake was quiet for a moment and I thought he wasn’t going to say anything. He ran his fingers through his blonde hair and said, “I just don’t think Rooster is good enough for you.”
I looked at him hopefully, “What do you mean? Is there someone in mind that you think is good enough for me?”
“I just think that you can do better. He wouldn’t treat you the way that you deserve. I would treat you better.”
“Would you treat me better?”
“Yes,” he answered, reaching out to grab my hand.
I placed my hand in his and he slowly pulled me towards him. I gently moved onto his lap so I was straddling him, and I couldn’t help but smile at the adorable look he had on his face.
“You deserve the world, and I would give it to you,” he whispered.
I placed my hands on his shoulders as he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer. My chest was pressed against his as I stared into his green eyes. He closed the small gap between us and pressed his soft lips to mine. He pulled away for a brief moment in fear, but I quickly reassured him this was what I wanted and pressed my lips to his. The kiss was eager, desperate. We had both been wanting this for so long, it was obvious.
His hand moved along my side, causing goosebumps despite the hot water. I gently rocked my hips against his as his hand moved to my bathing suit top.
He pulled away once again and whispered, “I want all of you tonight.”
My hand moved to his cheek and I smiled, “You can have me.”
