molly hughes, older twin sister to jack, glared at trevor as soon as he walked in and slammed the front door. trevor did not acknowledge her after the loss that evening between them and dallas stars. she crossed her arms as she leaned against the kitchen counter, watching as he walked right past her and to their bedroom. she sighed, cleaning up the rest of the kitchen after baking some cookies and heard trevor walk back in. he was going on and on about a harmless habit she did, "how many times do i have to fucking tell you about this shit? huh?! jesus fucking christ." he screamed at the girl. she froze in her spot, as trevor grabbed his keys from the counter and slammed the front door again. her hands quickly covered her mouth, as she let out a sob. she'd never been yelled at like that before, in her entire life. she'd made sure she was always in peoples good graces and always put the needs of others before her own needs and wants. she felt betrayed and felt as if her whole being had been stripped.

she quickly made her way over to the bedroom and grabbed a bag, throwing clothes and a bag of toiletries in there. she had one place she wanted to be and one place only.

molly pulled up to the townhouse alex had gotten in santa monica, and she saw alex sitting on the front step waiting for her. he stood up as she turned off the car, meeting her to grab her bag and give her a hug. he rubbed her back softly, as she cried into his shoulder. alex looked to molly as a sister and was beyond pissed at trevor, and was ready to tear him a new one if one of her brothers hadn't already gotten to him yet. alex took the bag from the back seat and let her walk inside first. "im-im sorry for just barging in like this, al. i didn't know where else to go." she said sighing as she made her way to the kitchen. "don't mention it molls, you're family. im always gonna be here for you." he said smiling and pulling her in for another hug. he kissed the top of her head, as she calmed down a bit more. "did you tell your brothers?" he asked softly and he felt her shake her head. "nah...you know one of them would be flying out here even if they have practice or a game tomorrow.." she said giggling just a bit. alex knew that to be true. "well good thing i dont have work tomorrow so lets make some pizza and watch the office?" he grinned, pulling back and heading to the freezer. "frozen pizza session? dont have to ask me twice." she hummed preheating the over and taking out two pans. the two worked in unision, opening the pizzas and placing them on the cooking sheets to go in. "do you have any seltzers?" she quesitoned opening the fridge and saw her favorite brand, "oh would you lookey here." she grinned taking it out and opening it. "its like you knew i was coming." she hummed chugging just a bit. "well if i didnt have it, we all know youd chop my head off." and she saluted him with a knowing smile.

the two spent the night watching the office and finished off both pizzas and molly with a few seltzers. the two passed out on the couch for what seemed like hours before molly awoke to her phone ringing with her brothers contact popping up. "hello?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes and seeing the sun begin to rise. "oh thank god you're ok!" jack said rubbing his tired eyes and molly heard luke sigh in the background. she looked over at alex who was sound asleep and she headed over towards the first floor powder room. she turned on the light, chuckling to herself as she saw just a tiny bit of tomato sauce on her chin. "wanna tell me why you turned off your 360 location missy?" jack demanded and molly rolled her eyes. "you have us worried sick - not to mention mom and dad calling us at 2 am asking if we had heard anything and then you've got trevor als-" she cut him off, "oh he was worried as to where i was? im sure he could give two shits jack." she said pinching the bridge of her nose and sitting down on the covered toilet. "whats that supposed to mean?" he asked taken back a bit, "maybe you should call your so called bestie back and asked what he said to me last night and see if you can put the pieces together as to why i turned my location off and left the house." she spat, and heard jack whispering to luke to call him. "he said something that really hurt me jacky and i-i had to leave. im with alex, im ok. i proimse, im just very upset with trev." she said softly, her lip quivering. "oh lovey, im sorry. what did he say? just so i know what to scream at him." he added the last part, causing her to giggle just a bit. "um-- its stupid." she hummed, trying to downplay the situation. "lovey it cant be that stupid if it made you turn off your location so nobody could find you and it cant be that stupid if it made you go stay with alex. just tell us molls." luke said butting in and molly sighed.

"i just have a weird habit and i knew trevor was in a bad mood and i did it anyways and so its my fault that he blew up at me. its my fault he screamed at me." she said feeling a few tears fall out. "he yelled at you?" jack said in disbelief. trevor didn't have a bad bone in his body, when it came to molly. he looked at her as if she hung the stars and the moon, and never had any inkling to hurt her. "that son of a bitch." jack breathed as he took lukes phone from him and marched into his bedroom. "there is no reason why he should have yelled at you loves. none. i don't care if he was angry or upset at the game, he shouldn't have screamed at you. don't make yourself feel as if it was your fault. we all have our habits, and knowing you its a dumb one and one that did not warrant his outburst." luke said trying to comfort his sister. molly nodded, "thanks lukey. its just, nobodys ever yelled at me before like that." she whispered and luke's heart broke. he knew how sensitive she was and how hard she worked to make sure nobody ever got upset with her. "damn he's really going in on trev right now." luke said hearing the shouting coming from jack's room. "oh lovely, well im gonna go back to sleep. its 5 am luke, yall are nuts for calling me." she giggled and luke chuckled. "goodnight lovey, sleep tight." and she thanked him.

it was around 11 am when alex and molly heard a knock on the front door, and mollys eyebrows crinkled. she sipped her coffee, before digging back into her sandwich while alex went to go see who it was. "seriously?" she heard alex's lack luster enthusiasm, "i know shes here. i want to see her." she heard trevors familiar and ever recognizable voice. "listen man, i dont really feel like yelling at you right now so please just leave." alex said and trevor wouldn't budge. "the three of them have already screamed at me and picked me apart for the better part of the morning. please, i dont need anyone else to add to that." trevor said with a hint of exhaustion in his voice. molly sighed, walking towards the front door and stood next to alex, "its fine al." and alex nodded and eyed trevor before he walked back into the kitchen. "outside. now." she said pulling the door shut behind her. "what the fuck do you want trevor?" she demanded, crossing her arms over her chest. she saw his under eyes darker and exhaustion in his eyes, and the look of pure regret and guilt written across his features. "im so sorry molls, i really am. there is no excuse for what i said or did and especially me leaving. i shouldn't have left and i shouldn't have said what i said. you know that i didn't mean it lovey, please. tell me what i can do to get your forgiveness?" he asked pulling her in close by the hips. "first off, you can take your hands off of me." she said pulling them off of her, "and secondly, you can leave. im not ready to speak to you yet. you hurt me trev, that one hurt. especially since you know its the most harmless habit of mine." she said setting her boundary.

trevor knew it would be hard to get her forgiveness, but he was also happy that she was setting boundaries because he knew that her being her, it was hard to do. even though it hurt him, he understood why she was. "nobody has ever yelled at me like that before. and i will not allow it to become a norm in it either." she said taking a step back. "so please, just go. ill talk to you when im ready." she said and trevor nodded softly, a lump forming in his throat. "alright lovey." he said taking a step in front of her, and placing a soft kiss on her temple. "ill be at home waiting." he said looking into her green eyes, and she nodded watching him leave.

it was two days later and alex was off for a small road trip, so as molly hugged alex goodbye she decided she did not want to be alone and lonely in the house. she cursed herself at 'caving' quicker than she liked but trevor was also her person, she missed him. over the past 48 hours she thought about the situation, thought about what she wanted to say to him and she ran it over with alex who supported her wholeheartedly. she drove down from santa monica to newport, and savored the hour and a half driving down the coast with some alred's coffee. she pulled up around 2:30 in the afternoon and saw trevor outside with jamie, pulling their surfboards off of trevors car. good, molly thought. hopefully a surfing session did some good and helped him refocus. jamie smiled widely as trevor walked passed him, once he saw molly's car pull in front of the townhouse. trevor turned around to shut his car door and saw molly's car parked, and quickly made his way over towards it. "molls?" he called out and molly rounded the back of the car, coming face to face with the hockey player. shes smiled sweetly and then waved towards jamie, who just like trevor still had their wetsuits on. "ill be inside, im gonna go get settled." she said softly to trevor as she walked passed. "call me later if you wanna get dinner." jamie said to trevor and trevor nodded and jamie left. the hockey player quickly jogged inside, looking for molly.

she stood in the doorway of their bedroom, cream hydrangeas in a crystal vase sat tall on her bedside table. a new joan malone candle stood in front of it, and saw a small card with them as well. she smiled softly, walking over towards it setting her bag on the bed. she opened it, and sat down on the bed. the letter contained everything that trevor could never get out on his own, the letter explained everything that he wanted to say but knew he'd be too flustered to say it correctly and in the way he envisioned. trevor paused at the door and saw that she was reading the letter he had written once he'd gotten back from santa monica. molly's lip quivered, and she looked up towards trevor. he quickly found himself kneeling in front of her, grabbing hands that reached out for him. "youre not losing me trev, i promise you that. i love you way too much trev, youre pretty much stuck with me for life." she hummed, giggling a bit. he smiled widely pulling her in for a kiss. his hands softly grasped her cheeks, pulling her closer. after a few seconds, they pulled apart before going in for more.

They had a fun dynamic and I wouldn’t have been opposed to it but on Zig’s end I couldn’t realistically see it happening

As much as I liked their friendship I have a hard time imagining it romantically especially from Maya’s end

Bianca/Katie:

It would have made sense as a enemies to lovers type thing and they had the chemistry to pull it off but Bianca deserves 1000 times better so no.

Anya/Fiona:

I definitely could have seen it and definitely think I would have enjoyed them had it happened.

Manny/Ellie:

I just can’t picture it and Manny deserves better then how Ellie treated her

Miles/Grace:

I surprisingly feel like this would have made some sense. I mean if she had liked Miles instead of Zig, it actually would have fit because she showed the jealousy with him and Zoe during DLB. It still would have been stupid because they clearly were setting up Gracevas but it still would have caused the precious drama they love so much just not in a way that tainted Zaya or the Zig/Grace friendship. But even aside from that I feel like they had some chemistry and could have been interesting.

Hunter/Esme:

It would have made sense cuz she clearly has a thing for the Hollingsworth’s LOL but Hunter with anyone is just a big no.

Jay/Darcy:

They were fun in the scenes they shared and Darcy had a pattern of falling for the troubled guys so I could see it happening as another enemies to lovers type thing. I do think she could do a lot better as much as I loved Jay (unless he evolved into a better guy the way he did with Manny) but I wouldn’t have hated it

Manny/Jimmy:

Doesn’t compel me/doesn’t make sense

Oops I reached the photo limit lol. I can’t really imagine them together and am not sure how compelling it would be since I don’t think they even shared one scene together. He probably would have treated her better than most of the guys she was with though.

Craig/Marco:

Compels me/makes sense

It was basically confirmed they were supposed to have been a thing and it makes me sad that was dropped. They definitely made a lot of sense and I definitely found them compelling.

Holly J/Spinner:

Made sense/compels me though I also understand why it didn’t happen even aside from Spinner already being in a relationship. There actually was a significant age difference so it’s probably for the best it didn’t happen but I still loved their friendship.

Tiny/Frankie:

Makes no sense/doesn’t compel me. Maybe if he hadn’t already dated her two best friends but even then I can’t really see them being involved and honestly after Frankie’s behavior in season 2 I feel like it would be awkward. Like I don’t think Tiny held it against Frankie or anything but I can’t imagine him wanting to date her after all of that either

Eli/Katie:

As much as I really don’t care for either character I feel like they were actually similar (not in a good way though) and would have made sense and I feel like it actually would have been interesting to see.

Sav/Bianca:

I think it would have made sense and they would have been fun together, it’s a shame they didn’t interact after the concert episode. Actually they did for like 2 seconds when Drew and Sav were doing the music thing behind Alli’s back or whatever but after that nothing. I love Drianca but still I could have gotten into them.

KC/Alli:

I actually low key shipped them in season 8 and it would have been way better and made more sense than Kenna, and they still could have had their precious love triangle with Clare. I probably still would have preferred Klare but I don’t think KC’s character would have been dragged down so much if he’d dated Alli instead of Jenna.

Clare/Jenna:

They made sense at least in season 9 based on some of their interactions and it would have been 1000 times better than Kenna and Eclare

Dallas/Imogen:

I think they had a lot of chemistry and I think it would have been interesting to explore their dynamic more, I wish they could have had a short thing at least but realistically I don’t think they’d make much sense especially not long term.

Yael/Baaz:

They would make sense but honestly I’m not super invested in either character so I don’t think I would find them that compelling or interesting. Like I only find Yael’s dynamic with Lola interesting lol but Yaaz definitely would have been better than Yunter

Liberty/Kelly:

Maybe it’s just cuz I didn’t find the college years that interesting or memorable but I really can’t imagine them together and am not sure if I would find them compelling but I wouldn’t have been opposed to it

Their dynamic was compelling even though I really didn’t like Esme picking on Shay for no real reason. Obviously how Shay responded to it was wrong (both the paint and the slut shaming) but Esme started it and it’s like Esme wondered why people didn’t like or accept her maybe that behavior is why? But anyway as compelling as the dynamic was (albeit frustrating) I could never see it happening from either side. I could see Esme with girls for sure though, I just couldn’t picture her having feelings for Shay and definitely couldn’t see Shay having feelings for her

Peter/Owen:

Compels me/doesn’t make sense:

This would have been an entertaining dynamic solely for the fact that both guys are awful the majority of the time, and in similar ways too but with Owen being so blatantly homophobic I could never see it happening unless they decided to write it that he had just had internalized homophobia the whole time. I personally don’t really like it when they try to write that in to stories because it’s like they’re trying to justify all the horrible shit a character did (like think Monty in 13RW) but it would have at least been more interesting than what they did with Owen instead which was pretty much nothing. And it could have made Peter more interesting. Like he was way more interesting and likable with Riley tor example (another ship that was supposed to happen allegedly) and I say it as someone who did like Parcy (not as much as I used to though) but at least he never screwed Riley over or did anything awful to him like he did to others. I’m rambling now sorry lol

I’d like to ask for the summary of the very last episode of RNM. I feel very conflicted about it ending. I’ll miss a lot of things, including you live-blogging. I would also like to take the time to say I love your fics. ❤️

I too will miss live blogging and seeing everyone else's reactions and commentary, the comraderie has been one of my favorite things in this fandom (after I blocked everyone lmfao). To the second anon, I am happy to be of service to warn others off on whether or not to endure this nonsense. The full summary will be below the cut, but honestly if I had to give a quick answer to your question rn, there were infuriating things about it of course because it wouldn't be RNM without it but not the WORST thing ever?

Okay so the whole thing with Clyde honestly ended REAL quick, within the first 25 minutes of the ep lol basically he kidnapped Rosa, took her to Shevani to get her blood taken out because it contained important protein(? maybe??) that would be useful for reviving Shevani's daughter except joke's on her! He actually needed the blood to make a serum that would fix one of the broken pieces of the galactic map.

Meanwhile, Liz called Allie Myers to come to town to help her with the science since her memory has been deteriorating from the alien mist/drug. It was really fun to see her, Liz, and Kyle do some science stuff together to figure out how to stop Clyde. Which they did by making a serum that would put the mark of Ophicus back on him and when he went into the portal he got stuck and then disintegrated, good bye Clyde~!

After that, I forgot who but someone was like well what do we do now? And Michael's like, I've got an idea! Let's have a wedding! They literally only mention Alex dying once and it was in the beginning when someone was like Kyle took Alex back to Deep Sky to figure out what's wrong with him and then I guess he's better now??? Idek

This was the WORST part of the ep, but for some godforsaken reason Alex and Maria have a heart-to-heart right before the wedding. He was like aw Greg can't come but I'm glad I get to have one family member in you being here to support me and then to add insult to injury, they had her walk him down the aisle because the writers want us to connect malex and maria together forever and ever I guess. Sanders shows up and gives Michael a lovely encouraging speech before the wedding and gives him something of Nora's as his something old for the wedding, it was very sweet and touching

It cuts to the Pony where Michael gives a little cheesy speech and then starts singing Edwin McCain's I'll Be and it's a montage of the wedding. Michael and Alex look so happy and lovely it's honestly so wonderful, it made me teary-eyed. Alex decides to take Michael's last name "Alex Guerin" because he's never felt like a Manes man anyway and it was just PERFECT

When Tezca was dying at the end of last ep, she shared a memory with Isobel who then shares it with Max which basically says that Oasis is dying and as the savior he is the only one who can save the planet. So he and Liz sort of break up (except not really because 10 minutes max later they sort of get engaged as a promise I'll come back for you) because for some reason he's the only one that can go. Like Isobel and Michael don't even volunteer to help him lol Dallas decides to go too so it ends with them going into the portal to Oasis.

As for malex, their story ends with them driving out of Roswell in the truck that has Just Married on the back window and the traditional wedding stuff tied to the back. I'm sure they're just going on their honeymoon but I like to think they were just leaving and washing their hands of Roswell entirely haha

As for Kybel, they didn't really have much going on in the ep unfortunately. Their story ending with them cuddling under a blanket together and Kyle asking if he can do anything for her (I think because Max was leaving) and she was like no this is perfect. It was nice :)

And that's it! We are officially done with Roswell forever and it's a strange feeling. This show made me angry in so many ways but it's still strange to say goodbye to a show I've been watching since 2019.

2021 Creator’s Wrap

I was tagged by the wonderful @adiwriting​ - as I begin a new year, why not look back at the last one?

1. stuck in gravity, clawing for some bravery - (23,000) Alien soulmate bullshit. It’s probably what keeps me in RNM year after year, I just dig the dynamic. This was one of the easiest stories I’ve ever written, less than 3 weeks I think? A season 2 hiatus fic, that doesn’t hold up at all in season 3 - I had Alex staying put for the year jump and actually dating Forrest, lol.

2. in the cracks of light (letters addressed to the fire) (7,300) - I used to say I could only write canon-compliant stories, or canon-divergent AUs, and then I wrote this story in about 2-3 days. Set on Oasis, with Alex as the reluctant war-prize, this fic has a lot of “heavy” tags, but I really had fun giving Alex all the power here as the captive.

3. what the years have made dry (wildfire heart) - (6,900) - the first Malex interaction in season 3 was certainly ....something.  I used my mixed feeling about the episode to write this post-ep, and I really am proud of it. Although we got a bit of this in 3x06 and 3x11, I really love the Sanders/Michael dynamic. He needs someone completely in his corner that is not a sibling or a love interest (or ex-love interest, or dating a sibling of his) - Sanders gives Michael that. I wrote or attempted to write a lot of post-eps in season 3 but I’m too slow of a writer to be very successful in fitting with canon, but I think this one still stands up well.

4. all around are familiar faces (9,600 - WIP) - like I said, I attempted to write a speculative fic for 3x08 based on the spoilers, all I knew was Maria would be in her mind, in the past trying to evade Jones, and there was a still of Alex, Michael and Maria at the Wild Pony. Now that season 3 is over, I’m even more committed to this ...AU of 3x08, because I find it a little unfair that Maria, Isobel, Rosa, and even Alex (although he was hallucinating) - was able to interact with Nora, but not her son, not Michael- all he had was Max’s vague memories of being chained up on Oasis and Jones taunting him about his mother’s mouth. Sigh. I have about 6,000 more words to write on this (including a real Malex reconciliation that includes TALKING ), and hope to finish it in 2022 when my brain comes back.

last but not least,

5. Appetite for Destruction (20,000) - I wrote this for malex santa, for Nestra, and for myself, because I needed a tighter ending to season 3. It probably wasn’t the right moment to release a fic that handles season 3 canon and the retconning of Michael’s powers during a time when soft christmas stories were being posted but alas, this is what the muse wanted to write. I’ve been dealing with post-season writer’s block, trying to finish a number of WIPs I have in progress, but what jumps out at me is always my desire to fix canon, or explain canon. So I love this story, I loved doing something new with writing Dallas, doing something uncomfortable- writing something a little religious, and of course, I loved writing Malex as a power couple supporting each other (gimme more of that in season 4)

Roswell NM: Episode 3x10 - My thoughts

Wow that was one awesome episode of Roswell New Mexico. The way the episode started all light with fun banter and ended in passion, kidnapping and violence. I mean I went through every single emotion and then back again. Plus the episode was really well written and I enjoyed all the storylines!

First Kyle, oh honey. He is such an incredibly giving human. The way he destroys the samples leading to Jones almost killing him. Then destroys the files leading to his arrest. And I knew, I knew, he had feelings for Isobel. Poor baby I don't want to see him love someone who wants someone else again. I can't with this man. He also had the funniest line of the episode..."you have ice powers now" LOL. Isabel's face. I really love those 2 together!!!

The Dallas & Heath scenes were good especially when they were kids. Who knew I would care for a character I just met, but I just love Dallas connection to Michael and Isobel. The fact that they are the triad not Max/Isobel/Michael though? Gosh that was a shock to me though I should have expected with Nora/Louise/Theo triad. I can't wait to find out more about this triad stuff and how it fits into the alien lore and their powers. That said I really felt for Dallas during this episode to have his entire belief system blown to smithereens. The man thought he was hearing voices from God to help people...but I guess he's going to help in a different way now.

The Liz and Max scenes were great. And I can feel them trying to figure things out though its difficult when they can never finish a conversation always interrupted by dead bodies, or the sheriff or Jones. I'm starting to really wonder if they will be able to actually find their way back to one another by season's end.

Loved that we finally got to hear the Lockhart message. I kept expecting Jones to barge in and kidnap Dallas. But then we see Heath, Liz and Max and I'm like nope that is so Jones. I wondered last week why Jones bothered with Heath since Liz is the scientific genius. I'm not clear about Heath's role in this other than Dallas best buddy? Like what is he really bringing to the table that Liz, Michael and Kyle can't? He seems a little behind in that he didn't even know Dallas was an alien. What?

What I don't understand is what was Nora/Louise and Theo's plan? Why was Max created if it was so diffcult for the bond between him and Jones to break? And is Max in anyway linked to the younger triad? Because if not why did Nora and Louise have Max in a pod next to their kids and not Dallas? The more answers we have the more questions arise!

I did feel sad for Max, he must be going through so much as it becomes clear how tethered he is to Jones. I'm glad he had Liz to talk him down from that particular ledge but it will only get worse if he finds out Theo's full message and that he is actually not "linked" to Isobel and Michael.

Then there is Michael. I couldn't help imagining that poor, little 9-year-old boy, completely alone in the world, taunted and bullied into using his powers and then tortured as a result believing he is the devil's child. No wonder hearing he is the actual devil's heir made him lose it in episode 3. I can't help it Michael always tugs at my heartstrings.

And finally there's Malex. Oh my dear god these 2 are just awesome, cosmic, beautiful...perfect. I love that Alex immediately understood why Michael didn't want to talk to Dallas. He knows Michael so well, better than anyone. And I love how Michael listened to Alex, because he trusts him completely and opened up to Dallas sharing an extremely painful memory. I don't even think I have recovered from the final Malex scene. Have we ever seen Michael so sweet, soft and gentle? He seemed at peace for the first time in forever and the I'm home line? Dead....so dead.

Anyway great episode. 3 more to go now!!!

What disappointed you about this season of rnm?

I want to preface this by saying that I overall enjoyed watching season 3; every week I would tune in and enjoy the episode and then excitedly wait for the following one, and that's important. Now that everything is said and done and I can look back at the season in its entirety, though, I find myself a little disappointed.

I try to keep this blog as positive as possible and I firmly believe that everyone should be able to curate their experience so I'm putting everything under a read more, because there will be some negativity and whining. If you don't want to read that, this is your disclaimer.

I'll be real: first and foremost s3 of rnm betrayed my expectations. Which is something I am to blame for 100% They didn't promise me anything and they should not cater to my personal headcanons. But, there are a lot of other things that, in my opinion, were handled sloppily that overall shifted my excitement to disappointment at the end of 3x13.

I acknowledge the difficulties they must have had, with the showrunner change in the middle of it all, the changes they had to implement to the plot because of covid and how difficult it must have been for the entire crew to film and edit an entire season during a pandemic, before vaccines were available. No doubt on that.

That being said, though, the writing for the season was very weak.

At first I was extremely excited because they kept hinting at potentially intricate and interesting plot points... that sadly went nowhere. They failed at writing 101: hint at something and then make it happen.

There are a lot of benefits in having many different writers, you employ more people, for one, and you have a diversified pool of voices that can bring a lot of perspectives and ideas and prevent the writing to get stagnant, but at the same time, when the characters get passed around that many hands with no-one to ensure continuity or a good flow (I have to believe nobody was, otherwise the person in charge of that clearly did their job very poorly), they become mere items to further a specific plot, instead of fully fleshed out characters. That's an issue I had with season two as well, but in season three, you can tell they're written by different people because they seem different characters every two episodes, but mostly, there are things getting referred to, talked about in an episode that are never to be acknowledged again, or even contradicted!

Case in point, when did Michael stay with the fundamentalists? In the 1x06 flashback, it's 2004 and they're 14 when he shows Max the scar from the exorcism, in 1x10 he tells Alex that he came back to Roswell at 11 and stayed with the religious people, and in 3x10 he tells Dallas he was 9. So, what's the truth? And even with his powers: in 3x07 he tells Rosa that the first time he used his tk was to throw a ball? In... baseball? I'm sorry I don't know American sports lol but then in 3x10 he tells Dallas that the first time he used his powers he accidentally threw a foster sibling out of the window. Like, can you pick one and stick to it, in the same season at least???

One of the things we all complained about was the non sequitur episodes, where they would leave us with a cliffhanger that somehow didn't get resolution in the following episode, one for all: Kyle's coma. In one episode, everybody and their mother is looking for him, then Alex finds him, doesn't tell anyone (on screen) and suddenly he's awake and we have zero answers about it.

I can continue on and on:

We spent two episodes watching Michael light his hand on fire for... what? Him running through a circle of fire when Kyle had a fire extinguisher? And somehow we never got a scene where he actually tells people he can do that?

Episode upon episode on Maria's vision that ended in jk nobody dies, except at the end she has another random one (and why was she trying to meditate to trigger the vision? Weren't her visions supposed to be aided by adrenaline? That's why they wrote her throwing herself off a building in the middle of the day while hoping that Max's failing heart would be enough to catch her).

What actually is the point of Deep Sky? Were they actually after Charlie? She seemed to recognize the logo. Was Helena part of it? Was Flint? Why did they keep Forrest secluded (but not really) while Alex snuggles the magic machine in and out of the building? Is it the power of the alien D that makes him the boss?

What was the point of making Michael Jones' son? Just to add to the trauma and pain? They could've had him hide the mental power without the familial linkage, I mean, Noah had it too. And why did they think that the scene where Max finds out about being the clone of Michael's father was somehow not important enough to show us?

Why having Jones tease us about some insight on the whole Nora situation and then give us nothing?? Were they actually in love and then Jones got murderous? Did she seduce him with the plan of bringing him down? Was she really on his side and then switched? You can't mess the family dynamics this much and not clarify anything!

And more in general, why do we have to constantly imagine the conversation happening off screen or not happening at all?

There were too many missed opportunities and too rushed storylines. Let's not forget that the whole season span across.... three weeks? So hear me out: they spent a year doing... nothing. Max picked up women, had sex, and wrote letters on a typewriter, Isobel bought everything snake-themed she could put her hands on, Michael grew sunflowers, Alex... did something (they never specified what actually 'cleaning up Jesse's legacy' meant. I suppose it's not important enough to know if Project Shepherd had other locations or paid mercenaries or physical copies of proof of alien lives), we don't know what the others did, but then in half a month or so:

Kyle got dumped, almost killed, kidnapped, was in a coma, developed feeling for Isobel.

Maria got assaulted, kidnapped, was in a coma, started a relationship.

Rosa discovered and honed a new power in a single afternoon. She's now a pro. Also, she did art therapy, got almost killed, stabbed her attacker with a military-grade drug, saved the day with a shotgun, enrolled in art school.

Speaking of Wyatt, was his asshole self, painted a penis shaped cactus, attacked Rosa, was injected with Butyricol, was hospitalized, lost his memory (forever, they said. Three days at best had passed.), was 'bummed' about his racist friends, decided to go away, came back, was uwu 👉🏻👈🏻 with Rosa and went away again.

Max almost died too many times to count.

Alex broke up with Forrest, joined Deep Sky, fought with Michael, made advancement in a super secret project, got half-kidnapped? Kinda. Made up with Michael, started a relationship, (got laid on a leather couch), became the boss of Deep Sky or at least the teacher's pet because he does whatever he wants, decided to pick up Michael's handanas (that he's been leaving all over the place in the 72h they've been together. Impressive.) and hang them at his wallet chain, and then mmmh hangs around DS headquarters? Or something? Because he sure was doing nothing important during the two hours finale given that we barely saw him.

Liz started and ended a relationship with Heath, managed a 14 hours car ride multiple times in a day, even. Left her job, came back home, made impossible scientifical advancements in a diner or a... stolen office? How does she have access to Kyle's hospital office?

I mean, you got the gist. I can't even finish a book these days in two weeks and a half. They turn the world around.

I briefly mentioned Alex's disappearing act. I don't know what went down there, but that made no sense. They stuck him inside Deep Sky and just left him there. I'm not saying his arc was not interesting or anything like that, but it suffered from the very few interaction they gave him with the main cast in the group scenes. Why did they even have him say that he would burn the world down if Michael were in danger when... he was left tapping a screwdriver on a machine when it actually came to it? I appreciated the extra 0.2 sec of happy malex in Michael's head but what was the point of Jones discovering Michael's love for Alex if they never even interacted? Jot this down. Alex hit Jones with Michael's truck and then left, and then tased Jones-turned-Max. That's the extent of Michael's murderous father and Michael's cosmic love interacting.

In my opinion, they could've easily skipped a couple of storylines (maybe mmmh the romantic undertones of Wyatt/Rosa? Brrrr. The whole let's save the racist stuff? The whole BLM that appeared one episode just to let Max say 'well you still call the police when you need us gnegne'? The Heath is in love with Liz bit? People can be friends and friends go the extra mile to help you. You don't need to yearn for their love to ensure that.) and utilize their characters better. Like

Give us more meaningful Rosa and Kyle scenes

Let Gregory have a deeper role than just Maria's new love interest (I mean, Michael, if only anyone would understand what killing you own father actually means.... Oh wait.). And let him be Alex's brother for more than one scene!

Actually give Forrest a decent arc instead of getting him laid, making him half shady and sending him away all in the first episode.

Let Isobel/Anatsa have actual development, instead of a couple of looks and then apparently they are now steady (so that Kyle can pine).

How about actually showing Mimi (or talking about her more consistently) instead of making a passing comment one time and then a cryptic phone call? If we're supposed to worry about her, you have to remember your audience who she is. I mean, I care a lot about Mimi, but I can assure you that my mom who watched both season in one go summer 2020 has no memory of her. Casual viewers don't remember guest stars of 4 episodes.

Introduce Dallas early in the season and spread the shenanings so that the poor guy doesn't get his world rocked and his throat slashed in 48 hours

Show us Sanders up and healthy, instead of having to tweet about that. You left the poor man on the street after hinting he could be the one getting killed. I mean...

Just to bring this to a conclusion, the pacing issues have always been there, but this season's rushed rythm was a no-no for me. Maybe on a re-watch I will feel differently, but for now that's why I said I was disappointed.

I wish they would show more care for their characters, their friendships and relationships in general. Yes, I love malex and echo and I'm intrigued by kybel, but I don't think they were successful in showing us these couples' path to happiness this season.

I would rather have a less packed season, maybe less guest stars too, less intricate storylines so that they could actually focus on the main and supporting cast with a compelling season-arc that doesn't crumble the moment you start picking at its too fragile details.

RNM Season 4 Episodes 10-11

There was a surprising amount of good scenes packed into these two episodes.

I loved everything in the interactions between Bonnie and Dallas. As well as their interactions with Michael. Bonnie and Michael’s hug when he came through the gate especially was adorable.  She's like his kid sister and I love it.

Isobel and Kyle are simultaneously adorable and painful.  Their hug got to me, too. And Isobel looking at his picture on her phone.

More Evans twins - I'm really glad to see their connection brought to the forefront again.

I surprisingly approve of the current Echo plotline despite sort of breakup 4.0 when the alien mist had Dark Liz in control.  The alien mist addiction.  Max admitting he was allowing fear to control him when it came to erasing his powers. Echo has spent a lot of the previous seasons saving each other from one physical threat or another.  But rarely has emotional vulnerability been necessary during that. This current plot is much more about emotional vulnerability for Echo, and I find myself enjoying their scenes.

Rosa continues to be wonderful. I loved her scenes with Liz, but I especially loved her scenes with Kyle.

Malex, what can I even say?  Their scenes were pretty much everything I could have wanted.  Including Alex building a trap that caught Bonnie and Dallas. Lol

And the proposal - of course, the proposal took my breath away. Curious if they are going to have Dallas marry them in the pocket dimension or not.  I kinda want him to just so their siblings can give them a hard time about it later.

Alex dying… I'm kind of on the fence with that one. Seems kinda an unnecessary plot with so few episodes left? But also slightly curious about which deus ex machina we're going for to save him.  Max getting his abilities back, Michael getting to unlock healing; Liz’s alien mist?

I… just can't get into the Tezca redemption arc. It just feels too far removed? I appreciated her as a villain, the threat to the main characters that I felt she was capable of making a viewer feel.  But in a sense, she did not really do enough villainous acts on screen for me to feel attached to her redemption.  Her biggest acts are all in a nebulous past that I don't think the show has taken the time to connect the viewers to enough. Most of our flashbacks were on Earth.  What little information we have from Oasis itself is more legendary than a proper full tale.  And the type of time it would take to tell that full story is too much.  It's a whole separate story by itself. So to spend so much time redeeming a character whose entire story is caught up in a tale we do not and will never fully know feels like such a waste of time that could have been spent on other characters.

And, yeah, I still don't feel anything about Clyde as a villain.  His villainy feels too cartoony for me. I'm kinda waiting for him to tie someone to a railroad track.  But he threatened Liz's student!  Yeah, and? Are we forgetting that our first Villain was Noah and he used Isobel to kill three other teenage girls in cold blood?  And I’m supposed to be all - oh, Clyde is so scary for… threatening to kill one person and shoving Bonnie into a pocket dimension he already knew she could survive in?

Look, under different circumstances - in a different show, Clyde might be scary with his obsession to complete his cult's work. But in this show, with the villains we've had, with it literally being just Clyde against like a dozen people, I just feel more disappointed in our Heroes than threatened by Clyde. Like, seriously guys? Do you need Greg to come shoot someone for you again?

Shivani’s descent into villainy on the flipside has been far more real. Far more human and in the present time plot. I'm pretty much expecting her to be killed, and I will be sorta saddened by that.  But I’m not sure I see a different ending to her arc. Especially now that she's joined forces with Clyde.

Ooh, yes, Manifest, honestly, I’d forgotten all about that. I hadn’t heard anything about it in ages, I wasn’t sure it was even returning anytime soon. Wait, I liked her with Alex, boooo. But I’m glad she won’t die, she was in some trouble at the end .D:

Hmm...right, I’m glad it’s most likely not Ben, I actually really like him with Grace. That dance in the middle of the street...ah, Josh Dallas can do that Charming gaze quite well, heh. 

Not Alex or Ben...I guess Bethany’s also kind of predictable, as the other wlw, and I’d never want to see them broken up (but would like to see more of them in general, please!). Drea definitely fits and I would of course love to see Ellen Tamaki in another f/f role and just have more to do on this show (though most of all I’d love to see her return to Charmed :/), but I’m mostly just hoping it’s not Jared or Zeke, Saanvi doesn’t need to be involved with all that. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if they brought Lourdes back. But no, I think the new character guess isn’t a bad one, it might even be like, someone involved with the military/government? Surely she’s going to only be more embedded on that side of the plot after the season finale, or with, like, someone who knows the Major. But who knows, they’ve kept her...plot-centric enough, I don’t have complaints about that, but so separated from the other characters, her story seems a bit more random than everyone else’s.

the flyers will shock most people, pulling a surprisingly decent cup run, possibly making eastern conference finals or the stanley cup final. if they go to the cup final, they will win. since the cup final hasn’t happened yet, we don’t know if the flyers won obviously! but they definitely shocked a LOT of people this season (including myself.) and i’m really confident in my boys and that they’ll go far in the playoffs.

there will be a huge trade within the division that causes an uproar i mean, taylor hall?

kaapo kakko will have more goals than jack hughes - but jack hughes will have more points overall yeah. this didn’t happen but i thought it did. kakko had 10-13-23, meanwhile hughes had 7-14-21. (format goals-assists-total points)

jack hughes will win the calder. lol wishful thinking! still between q. hughes and makar, will definitely end up being makar.

a team expected to be extremely good this year will do the complete opposite and tank. (possibly team that makes big trade?) say it with me: THE NEW JERSEY DEVILS!

columbus will fall to the bottom of the ranks after suffering the loss of duchene and bobrovsky. john tortorello? not happy. columbus didn’t fall to the bottom of the ranks, but they were in the bottom half of the division.

the flyers new young core will start to make an early impact. one of the defensemen will suffer a long-term injury, allowing one of the phantoms to come up and make an instant impact shocking fans. sam morin suffered an injury riiiight after coming back from a torn acl, and tore it again! he wasn’t up with the flyers, he was still in the minors, but he was on the official roster at the start of the season.

joel farabee will make the flyers lineup and be in the calder cup running. (bold. i know.) wishful thinking, again.

sidney crosby will suffer an injury, but it will not be expressed until after the season is over. tba

ovechkin will retire the end of this season or the next. tba

THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS WILL MAKE IT OUT OF THE SECOND ROUND. there, i said it. tba!

the leafs will finally break the curse - however, they do not play boston in the first round and will lose to the b’s in the second round. tba... we shall see.

boston will go onto the eastern conference finals but will lose to the philadelphia flyers in game 7. tba... obviously i didnt predict a pandemic happening

tampa bay will be a powerhouse like they were the previous regular season, but once again will fail to show up in the playoffs. they will not be swept. powerhouse indeed... but not best in their division.

ottawa will have a (slight!) comeback season! they will not be amazing, but they will not be as awful as they have been. i think i just felt bad and said this. this did not happen.

buffalo will have a MUCH better season this year. ummmm kinda?

montreal will have an above mediocre season. carey price will sustain another injury, leaving montreal to rely on one of their prospects. pretty much mediocre. i think i remember price being injured.

cole caufield will sign with the canadiens the end of this season, or will sign if wisconsin loses early in the playoffs and the canadiens make it. wishful thinking... caufield to wisconsin for one more year.

detroit will fall to the bottom of the standings. yes. very much so. #getlarkinout

john tavares will have the c in toronto. auston matthews will have an a. toronto will be set on fire. not literally lmao yup! this happened and i’m proud of it:)

honestly the pacific is really iffy for me. i dont really like any of these teams besides the flames and the ‘nucks. this is a really mediocre division overall.  yes, they were mediocre.

matthew tkachuk will sign with the calgary flames. will suffer an injury early on in the season. he did sign, but no injury for tkachuky early in the season. it was in december.

edmonton will be mediocre. #getmcdavidoutofedmonton connor and leon will carry the team once more, the team will start off weak but make their way up in the standings as the season progresses. by the time they make their way up the ranks it will be too late. nope! edmonton shocked us ALL this year, and even before the pandemic they were on track to make the post season.

phil kessel will have almost no impact on the arizona coyotes whatsoever. he will have a horrible season without crosby. yeeaaahhh. kessel had 14-24-38 this season, but last season while playing in pittsburgh he had 27-55-82.

the vancouver canucks will be significantly better, however, quinn hughes will sustain an injury midway through the season, causing the canucks to suffer. the canucks were actually doing really well! quinn hughes did sustain an injury, but at the beginning of march. 

los angeles will still suffer to rebuild their franchise. jonathan quick will be injury plagued. with the signing of turcotte, who really knows however quick did not sustain any injuries this season.

anaheim will be a little bit better than they have been! not amazing, but not bottom of the league rankings. i’m saying they could end up being from 22nd - 18th ish nope! anaheim finished 27th.

viva las vegas! vegas will have a bit of a comeback season similar to their inaugural season. yup!

san jose will fall in the rankings ever so slightly. they will make a decent trade at some point in the season. san jose fell HARD in the standings.

dylan strome and alex debrincat will light the league up again once more - but this time, even more so than last season. they are the toews and kane 2.0 and will certainly be able to hold the fort down in chicago when the two retire. dylan strome had 12-26-38 and alex debrincat had 18-27-45. not awful.

dylan strome will have a 65+ point season. keep in mind strome was traded a few months into the season, imagine what his stats would look like if he had been with chicago the entire season? wishful thinking. but if we had played a full season i believe he would’ve at least made 50.

patrik laine will be traded from the winnipeg jets, but the jets will pull a new york islanders. they lose one of their franchise players but will still manage to kill it. nope! this did not happen, however there were many rumors of laine being traded. fortnite legend.

colorado will be a powerhouse this season. with the addition of andre burakovsky, burky will find himself in denver and will be back to his normal self. yup! colorado managed to surprise everyone with their run.

the reigning 2019 stanley cup champions will suffer the post-cup summer. they will not make it past the second round of the playoffs. well, we shall see.

minnesota will have a slightly better season - they will start to make their comeback. with a new general manager hopefully they will be able to start conspiring a new plan to get their team back up. hopefully they will be better at drafting players they really need. umm... no. but they did make the playoffs with the formatting.

the wild and the flyers will make a trade. nope!

dallas will pretty much stay the same. they wont be much better, wont be much worse. not a lot will happen with the stars this year. pretty much! the stars finished 4th last season and 3rd this season.

nashville will possibly make the playoffs but will have an early first round exit. duchene will be a problem. tba, but dont think duchene is a problem.

Dear Taylor, 

I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who wrote in and kept up with a journal or a diary. I’ve tried so many times but it’s never been something I could ever make myself do on the regular. When times are tough, i’ll write down what i’m feeling in some random notebook or on a loose sheet of paper both of which usually get lost or thrown out. I really do like writing down my thoughts going back to read stories and remember specific instances that I was going through that had left my memory (see post before this one, wow that was a doozy of a read 😅). I think it’s really fun and i’m sure that’s how you feel with your songwriting. But maybe i’ve never been good at keeping up with it because talking to myself was never good enough. So that’s why i’m writing to you. You’ve had such a huge impact on my life; more than you could ever know. I feel comfortable talking to you and telling you about my days even though odds are that you would never see this. I don’t even know if you use Tumblr anymore these days but I wanna give this journaling this a chance again and I think this will be a fun way of doing it!

We got to meet, hug, talk and take a picture on October 17th, 2015 right before your incredible 1989 World Tour concert in Arlington, Texas, which is still my favorite day that i’ve ever had. Thank you so much again for that day and for giving me that opportunity to meet you.

So let me tell you a little snippet of my day today since that’s how this will usually go lol. I woke up this morning to a call from my boyfriend, Wesley, who calls me every morning since he’s the sweetest. I woke up and actually stayed awake for once. I unfortunately got laid off from my job about a month ago due to the pandemic so it’s been a little hard to find reasons to wake up these days. But I did today and I went to the gym for a couple of hours. I like to bring my iPad to the gym to catch up on TV because watching something distracts the part of my brain that’s telling my body it’s tired or that it should it quit. It also allows me to set timed goals like, “Annissa, you can’t get off this elliptical until this episode of Station 19 ends.” After the gym, I came back home to eat some lunch and start another session of job searching. Not super exiting. However, one job application had me do a timed assessment with english and math sections! It was super random! While most of the questions/problems were very simple, they only gave me a short amount of time to do it and I’ve never been good at timed tests so I’m a little worried that could’ve prevented me from being considered. After that, I fooled around a little on my phone and then met up with Wesley and one of our friends to go climbing which is always fun! However, I was having a hard time completing routes today but we still had a good time. And then I came home and watched some TV. I am currently catching up on the latest seasons of Grey’s Anatomy & Station 19 and I just watched the episode where Alex leaves and I’m still very emotional about it because he was my favorite character 😭😭😭.

And that pretty much sums it up! I promise my entries won’t be as boring or as long as this one and will probably be more about what I was feeling that day versus what I did. But I just want to end this by saying that, I love you Taylor. I might not be the most creative fan or one that’s always present on social media but I’m here. I’ve always been here and I always will be. ❤️ Congratulations on your incredible achievement the other day! I’m so proud! folklore is a wonderful that has managed to surpass Red as my favorite one from you which I didn’t think was possible! I listen to it all the time and my current favorite is august!

So work got canceled and I went to the game! Here’s the debrief that no one asked for:

•When Christen got called for being offside Tobin was PISSED lol like both hands in the air staring down the sideline referee pissed

•Rose Lavelle is FASTTT

•When the subs came to the bench at the beginning there was mild applause but then Ashlyn came out by herself and people screamed like they did for Alex Morgan.

•Everyone wanted Becky to score. Every time she pushed forward we were all holding our breath.

•I happened to walk by the broadcast booth which is in the most popular concession area??? and just being within 20 feet of Christie Rampone or Pearce or whatever was so insane. It was cool to see Kling too after she sort of got phased out.

•Megan Rapinoe is even more of a monster than she looks on TV. She had one ball that bent in front of the entire back line and met Tobin right at her feet all the way across the field.

•Also, that collision on the end line between Pinoe and a Jamaican player looked pretty gnarly. She got up but it looked like the entire weight of the Jamaican player landed on her neck and chest.

•Crystal does so well to get space on the end line to send a ball in but the final ball never gets where it needs to go.

•Lastly, I wish Dallas would represent more and have more people at the games butttttttttt it is kind of nice to be able to sit on the side of the USWNT goal for one half and then move to the other when they attack on the other side lol

•The Gals are GOING TO THE WORLD CUP!

Did your NFL team mess up by not drafting Lamar Jackson?

Lamar Jackson has been the crown jewel of the 2018 NFL Draft class.

Looking back at the 2018 NFL Draft to see who skipped over Jackson — and who’s paying for it.

The 2018 NFL Draft is far in the rearview mirror, but that doesn’t mean Lamar Jackson has forgotten about the teams that passed on him. Jackson was taken at No. 32 overall by the Ravens, and he had to see four quarterbacks in his class drafted before him.

By the end of that season, he was the only one of those rookies to make a start in the postseason. He’s kept that pace alive in 2019, when his Ravens stand atop a depleted AFC North and look stronger every week. Jackson planted his flag as a potential MVP candidate by becoming the youngest quarterback to beat Bill Belichick (and his 8-0 Patriots) in 15 years.

The former Heisman Trophy winner has had a better start to his career than the four quarterbacks selected ahead of him: Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Josh Rosen. If you compare their stats, Jackson has the best record as a starter, the best passer rating, the best TD-INT ratio, and most rushing yards (by a lot).

There’s no questioning that Jackson is a unique talent, one that many teams in the NFL wish they could have at quarterback. Most of them had a chance to draft him, too.

Let’s take a look at the teams that passed on Jackson and see if they would’ve been better off taking him.

Cleveland Browns: No. Theoretically, they’d be better off with Jackson and without having to face him twice a year. But c’mon, you know the Browns would’ve ruined him. Have you seen Baker Mayfield lately?

2. New York Giants: Yes. Saquon Barkley is a dynamic player. But you know what’s better? A dynamic player who can run AND throw! Plus, they could’ve started the post-Eli Manning era a year earlier.

3. New York Jets: Yes. The Jets opted for Sam Darnold over Jackson. This season, Darnold has had a slew of odd injuries, including being diagnosed with strep and mono simultaneously, an enlarged spleen, and needing a toenail removed. Jackson has stayed healthy — and doesn’t throw nearly as many baffling red zone interceptions.

4. Cleveland Browns: See No. 1. The Browns destroy everything they touch, and leaving Jackson to get his ACL exploded behind Cleveland’s porous offensive line would be a lesser tragedy.

5. Denver Broncos: Oh, hell yes. Instead, the Broncos settled for the quarterback the Ravens benched for Jackson.

But also no, because there’s no way general manager John Elway looked at Jackson’s 6’2 frame and thought anything other than “there’s someone I can mold into a 600-yard receiver.”

6. Indianapolis Colts: No, even though Andrew Luck opted for early retirement. Jacoby Brissett has done a nice job taking over for Luck and has helped put the Colts in good position to win the AFC South.

7. Buffalo Bills: Probably. The Bills chose to draft quarterback Josh Allen over Jackson. Allen has a winning record as a starter and is poised to get the Bills back in the playoffs. So yes, Buffalo is doing all right with a pretty good running quarterback — but what if it had a great one?

8. Chicago Bears: Lol, yes. The Bears already had Mitchell Trubisky, who’s proving he’s nowhere close to being a franchise quarterback. He’s near the bottom in the NFL in most major categories — as is the Chicago offense and running game. Yeah, Matt Nagy could use Jackson right now.

9. San Francisco 49ers: No. As much fun as it would be to watch Jackson in a Kyle Shanahan offense, Jimmy Garoppolo is lighting it up for the red-hot 49ers.

10. Arizona Cardinals: Yes. Picking Josh Rosen over Jackson proved to be a mistake. While they got Kyler Murray in 2019, imagine how Jackson would fit in Kliff Kingsbury’s freewheeling offense (assuming Jackson wouldn’t have won enough games in 2018 to keep Steve Wilks on the sideline).

11. Miami Dolphins: Tough call, depending on how much faith you have in 2020’s draft class. With Jackson, you wouldn’t have to worry about 2019’s inescapable tank job — although you run the risk of him being sold off for a future first, just like the team’s actual pick here, Minkah Fitzpatrick, was.

12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Yes. Jameis Winston is a free agent in 2020. He’s also not very good as an NFL quarterback — he has more interceptions than anyone else in the league since being drafted in 2015.

13. Washington: Yes. The Alex Smith experiment didn’t work out for unfortunate reasons, but this team needed a young franchise QB even before the former Chiefs’ passer was knocked out of the lineup. Now Dwayne Haskins gets to deal with all this dysfunction instead.

14. New Orleans Saints: No. Teddy Bridgewater has been an excellent insurance policy for Drew Brees (and Taysom Hill has been an excellent insurance policy for Bridgewater).

15. Oakland Raiders: No. Derek Carr has bounced back to Pro Bowl form thanks in part to the left tackle the Raiders selected at this spot, Kolton Miller. Carr’s still just 28 years old and under contract through 2022. While it would have been fun to see Jon Gruden figure out the most creative way to waste Jackson’s talent, a game-shifting mobile QB doesn’t really fit with Gruden’s late-90s throwback roster approach.

16. Buffalo Bills. See No. 7. The Bills used this pick to select Tremaine Edmunds, who has become an important cog in their intimidating defensive machine. They’d easily make that choice again.

17. Los Angeles Chargers: No. Philip Rivers is going to play for 20 more years, making it back to the AFC title game once. Derwin James, who was drafted here, should be healthy again one day, too. .

18. Green Bay Packers: No. Aaron Rodgers still looks great in his mid-30s, even if he took a few games to get acclimated to new head coach Matt LaFleur’s offense. But the Pack fell apart without him in 2017, and stopgaps like Brett Hundley and DeShone Kizer proved to be low-wattage replacements. Jackson would help fill that hole — but he’s also be buried behind a two-time MVP on the Green Bay roster.

19. Dallas Cowboys: No. Dak Prescott is pretty good and occasionally great. He’s about to sign a mega-extension in Texas, and Leighton Vander Esch, who the Cowboys picked at 19th overall, was a Pro Bowler as a rookie. It’s safe to say Jerry Jones is happy with his decision.

20. Detroit Lions: No. Matthew Stafford is having the best season of his career and is, somehow, only 31 years old. In this draft, Detroit took Frank Ragnow, who should have a fruitful career keeping his veteran QB upright from the center of the Lions’ line.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Hellllll yes. They have a legitimate chance to go 0-16 in 2019 and they benched Andy Dalton for rookie Ryan Finley. And they have to face Jackson twice a year.

22. Tennessee Titans: Yes. Tennessee swapped out Marcus Mariota for Ryan Tannehill, which is like replacing a Honda Civic with a Toyota Corolla. Neither is under contract for 2020.

23. New England Patriots: Yes. Bill Belichick would absolutely like to have a do-over, if only to keep Jackson from gashing the Patriots’ defense again. Plus, Tom Brady will need a replacement at some point (his passer rating has declined in each of the past three seasons) and Jarrett Stidham, for all his preseason glory, probably isn’t the answer.

24. Carolina Panthers: Kinda. It all depends on Cam Newton’s health going forward. Newton’s 2019 season ended after just two games, and his future in Carolina is a bit uncertain. While Kyle Allen’s been solid as a backup, Jackson working his way into the lineup in 2019 when Newton went down with injury would have been a revelation for the Panthers.

25. Baltimore Ravens: Yes, teeechnically. Baltimore should have drafted Jackson here instead of potentially letting another team grab him. The Ravens ended up selecting Hayden Hurst. He has 29 catches in 20 career NFL games, is already 26 years old, and has failed to outshine 2018 third-round tight end Mark Andrews.

26. Atlanta Falcons: No. Matt Ryan isn’t the problem in Atlanta. Everything else (minus the wide receiver corps) is.

27. Seattle Seahawks: No. Russell Wilson has never missed a game in his career and he’s finally getting the MVP hype he deserves.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers: Yes. Ben Roethlisberger might have a few good seasons left in him, but 2019 won’t be one of them. The team eventually made its exit strategy for Big Ben clear by selecting Mason Rudolph in the third round of the 2018 draft — and he’s been a capable, if unexciting backup. It would have been fun to see what Jackson could do for the Steelers, who now have to battle him in the AFC North.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars: Yes. Why draft Jackson when you could sign Blake Bortles and Nick Foles for a combined $130 million in consecutive offseasons? Minshew Mania is over, at least for now. They definitely goofed by taking Taven Bryan rather than Jackson.

30. Minnesota Vikings: No. Kirk Cousins got a fully guaranteed $84 million about a month before the 2018 NFL Draft, so taking a first-round quarterback was off the table. Sometimes it looks like a mistake, other times Cousins looks like an MVP. Either way, Jackson wasn’t a real option for the Vikings.

31. New England Patriots: Yes. See No. 23. Isaiah Wynn has been a solid left tackle when healthy and Sony Michel was a postseason workhorse who helped carry the Pats to a Super Bowl win as a rookie, but neither may be as valuable as a viable escape route

32. Baltimore Ravens: Hey, good job! The Ravens traded up from the second round to snag Jackson with the last pick of Day 1. It’s worked out.

As for the three teams that didn’t have a first-round pick:

Philadelphia Eagles: No. The Eagles passed up their chance to get Jackson by trading this pick to the Ravens on draft night and would do it again (only for a bigger ransom). Carson Wentz was briefly an MVP candidate. He might not get there again and has yet to play in the postseason, but he still looks pretty good in Philly.

Houston Texans: No, they’re set with Deshaun Watson.

Los Angeles Rams: No, even if Jared Goff is reverting to his rookie year, Jeff Fisher-coached form in 2019.

Week 1 Recap: Same Shit, Different Colors

It’s easy to get excited thinking this season of the Bachelorette is going to be different. Rachel is the first Blachelorette, it’s the most diverse cast in the history of the franchise, and she is really smart and down to earth and has a real, sustainable job. (Yes, I’m aware Andi was a “lawyer” too, but also, she wasn’t.) Believe me, as a black female attorney perpetually surrounded by white people I know should be excited. This is my jam. 

If anyone can relate to Rachel and her search for true love (lol), it’s me. But aside from the color of people’s skin, this season will be no different than any other. The guys will still be macho, aggressive, and pathetic. The dates will still be awkward and infuriatingly low budget. The drama will still be manufactured. And at the end of all of this, Rachel will still walk away with a fake fiancé she barely knows. Sure, there will be certain dynamics that you wouldn’t otherwise see in the standard white girl season, but ultimately, this show will remain pretty fucking stupid. 

Fresh Meat 

As we dive into the spotlight segment of the episode it’s hard not to notice that everyone we meet is a minority (except the guy with the dead mom and the guy with the brain injury). I find myself annoyed by this only because it makes me “wonder” where these guys have been and why ABC “hasn’t been able to find” anyone but the same white guy to come on this show. Anyway, the first seven guys ABC wants us to pay attention to include:

Kungfu Kenny, the cute professional wrestler from Vegas with a 10 year old daughter.

Jack, the lawyer from Dallas who has a cute dog and a dead mom.

Alex, the meathead coder from Detroit who speaks Russian and is almost certainly a deep cover agent.

Mohit, the Bollywood dancing start up guy who doesn’t stand a chance.

Lucas, an aspiring Doritos spokesman and all around idiot. 

Blake, the creep who couldn’t stop talking about his amazing penis.

Diggy, a fasion bae from Chicago who might also be gay.

Josiah, the smooth talking lawyer from Florida with a Stomp the Yard story line.

After Rachel gets some last minute advice from half of the cast of Nick’s season, it’s time for limos. Per usual, we had some awkward lines, over the top entrances, stupid props, and a lot of bowties. Here’s a quick rundown:

The first guy named Peter was boring yet charming. Adam brought a doll which was pretty alarming. Steve Urkel was cute, Dean was awkward and lame, DeMario is clearly only here for the fame.

Josiah had a weak line about reasonable doubt, While some big guy name Iggy continued to pout. The penguin looked silly, Milton looked chic, And the Tickle Monster guy is a fucking freak.

The dick guy showed up with a full marching band, The rest blurred together and were horribly bland. And just when I thought we had a full room, Some douchebag arrived and screamed out WHABOOM.

Cocktail Party

Soon after Whaboom enters the mansion and puts everyone on notice that he is a psychopath, the cocktail party starts. I can’t say I’m surprised that Josiah is the first to steal Rachel away, or that he quickly launches into his good kid then bad kid then good kid back story. Nor am I surprised that right away the other guys start talking shit about him for doing something they should have done first. It’s classic Bachelor. After Rachel shuffles through a few duds, Bryan the Colombian with too much botox whisks her away to a more isolated location. Bryan tells her exactly what she wants to hear: that he’s 37 (with the face of a 24 year old) and is ready to settle down and get married. Even though Botox Bryan looks like a total douchebag and his flirting errs on the side of fuckboi, Rachel is really into it. So into it that she overlooks the fact that he kisses her like a plunger would a toilet.

Throughout the night we’re treated to a number of clips featuring DeMario, this season’s Corinne. Prior to the start of the night, Whitney “warned” Rachel that DeMario may not be here for the right reasons because she knows a girl who knows a girl who knows a guy who dated a girl who says DeMario is a clown. But OF COURSE HE IS. His name is DeMario. And beyond the racial profiling, anyone that comfortable and smooth in front of a camera in a situation like this has fuckboi written all over them. But I don’t find his arrogance offensive just yet. He’s more amusing than anything, and honestly asked Rachel the right question (N*Sync or Backstreet Boys). I have a feeling he might be the guy with the girlfriend (per season previews), but I also think that’s what ABC wants me to think, so for now I remain skeptical but excited. Eventually we get to Whaboom, who sucks. Prior to his 1-on-1 time with Rachel, he spends the entire night Whabooming around the house and shouting into his megaphone. Admittedly he got a laugh out of me when he started narrating Rachel’s time with Hugh Dancy lookalike Peter, the boringass guy from Wisconsin who will probably be the next Bachelor. Pretty much everyone in the house has the same reaction to Whaboom and even encourages him to an extent,

except Blake, the “great dick” guy from the drum line. (Wow, I can’t believe that sentence is about a white guy). Signaling to everyone that he has approximately no chill, Blake takes it upon himself to “confront” Whaboom for being a tool. The problem, of course, is that Whaboom clearly does not give a fuck about what Blake or anyone else thinks because “everyone has a little Whaboom in them.” Sure, but that the part of ourselves we hate. Despite being unattractive and cognitively impaired, Whaboom gets the final rose of the night, confirming my initial hypothesis that this season won’t be any different from the rest, and ultimately, this show remains pretty fucking stupid.

Speaking of Iggy, he literally could not stop complaining about every single guy that walked through the door. Like dude, this show thrives of first night gimmicks. Stop being such a bitch.

While DeMario and Joshiah were swaggering around in the midst of a pissing match, a group of white guys were huddled across the room discussing how loud and obnoxious they were being. I’m not saying it’s a race thing, but it will be interesting to see who sticks together on this show.

“He’s not ‘look at me I’m drunk’ he’s ‘I almost just missed that step drunk.’” RIP Mohit.

Peter saying he “put a lot of things on hold to be here” is so fucking obnoxious. Of course you did, that’s the fucking point. Don’t try to act like you slutting yourself out on TV is some grand gesture for Rachel and that she should be grateful for you. There are literally hundreds of basic ass white men who would love to put their shitty jobs on hold and bro out with some personal trainers in California. Fuck off, guy. 

Milton crying was the highlight of the episode for me.

Minority Report .. or should it be Majority Report? It’s too difficult to track how many there are or what they’re doing (although Jeff Sessions is trying his best), so I’ll use this space to discuss those we lose each week. This week, it’s Blake K., that super cute Asian guy who DEFINITELY shouldn’t have been kicked off. Pretty much everyone on the internet agrees she made a huge mistake letting him go and keeping the TICKLE MONSTER weirdo and Whaboom, but like I said, this show is stupid. But based on the love he was getting on Twitter, I won’t be surprised if he makes it to Paradise this year. I just hope he doesn’t pair up with Caila. Gag.

36: what is the last tv program you watched? I’m watching Mr. Robot for the 2nd time. On the last episode which I hope to finish before I go to sleep.

39: what is the furthest you have ever traveled? From Dallas to Las Vegas twice. 2 ½ hour trip by plane each way…lame I know.
