I guess this is happening. This is what reading a really good fancomic does to you
Steven Universe au. It's called Darkworld.
The gist is "What if the Crystal Gems weren't the first rebellion?"
Long ago, perhaps even before Pink Diamond's birth, there was a rebellion. Like the one that came after, it was scrubbed clean from Homeworld's history.
This was a bit harder, given that this rebellion, with the combination of rigging the warp network and a very powerful gem at their disposal, stole half the planet away, in a mitosis-like procedure. The immediate resource crisis that came from it was the hardest to hide.
It was an interstellar fight, allegiances bouncing back and forth, until both sides couldn't take the losses from fighting anymore, and it stopped.
To this day, the gems of Darkworld hop their stolen planet from system to system, hiding away from the Diamonds' light.
This is my oldest au. Ever. Never seen the light of day until now.
It started as a "far in the future" au, but now it's this.
I got a lot of things to say about it, it's very detailed. I could talk about
Nova, the fusion leader of this rebellion
Black Diamond, the controversial figure that replaced Nova (they're mother and daughter)
The first naturally born gem in eons, Kyanite, also known as Nora (on purpose)
The planet wide restoration efforts to undo the damage caused by the Diamond Authority, that allowed Nora to be born
The story of a Spinel that is no longer used for fun, instead relegated solely to interrogating rebels, nicknamed The Spider
Black Diamond's ship and living quarters, which is a giant sword to go with the Diamond Mech
Nora's caretakers, a Peridot and Rhodonite.
Not sure if I'll write a fic going through it bit by bit, but maybe. It's what I've finally been doing with other stuff.
#steven universe#do i tag black diamond#black diamond#sure#steven universe au#Darkworld au#steven universe darkworld#nora universe#also nora is a diamond.#what color idk. maybe red.#Steven Universe: Darkworld

Summary: Rouge deserves more cool.
Word count: about 4200 words
Author’s Note: Hopefully my writing abilities haven’t deteriorated too much over the hiatus- but either way, please enjoy! (Side note: this is technically set after Scars You Can’t See, but it isn’t vital to read that if you haven’t already)
...
It was truly a beautiful day outside in Empire City. Puffy clouds drifted across a rich blue sky, a light breeze pushing them along as the sun shone down brightly- just enough to bring the temperature up to a comfortable range. Its rays shimmered upon one of the many tall, silvery buildings that this city was known for, threatening to leave a temporary mark on the vision of anyone who looked at it for too long. This particular building advertised itself as an insurance company’s headquarters, and it looked perfectly in place amongst all the other skyscrapers in the city.
The activities going on inside, however, were anything but ‘in place’.
Near the very top of the towering structure, a bat sat in front of a wall-sized computer screen, her black-gloved fingers flying across the keyboard. Firewalls and security systems fell like sandcastles swept out by the tide- no corner of this building was safe when she was in control. Identity checks meant nothing to her, passwords were a breeze, and two-factor authentication? A joke.
Rouge smiled in satisfaction, taking a break to stretch out her fingers now that she was successfully through the various measures designed to keep hackers like her out of these computers. With a click of the mouse and a few keys tapped, the various sums of money the people who worked here had stolen began to make their way back to their rightful owners’ bank accounts.
After all, this building didn’t actually house an insurance company. That was just a cover story for the real business here- draining the cash out of innocent people’s funds. Rouge had been determined to stop this as soon as she’d learned about it before any more people got hurt (when she stole it was usually from rich people who could afford to have one of many diamonds go missing- this was just cruel!), and now she’d successfully completed about half the job. Just returning the money wasn’t quite enough, of course- this scheme had been running for over a year now, and it was about time someone put a stop to it for good.
That was where her friends came in.
While she manned the cameras, Shadow and Omega were grabbing plenty of physical evidence from the various offices throughout the building- more than enough to incriminate everyone who worked here. Rouge’s job was mostly to ensure that they could get what they needed without any serious trouble. It might be a difficult task, considering that Omega was set on blowing up most of the tech stored here...but she was prepared to deal with that.
The bat leaned back in her chair, catching a quick glimpse of herself in the window as she did so. Ever since they’d left G.U.N., a great perk (in addition to the lack of association with a corrupt military organization, obviously) was that they could wear whatever they wanted on the job. Before, Rouge had really been pushing it on ‘formality’ with her jumpsuit alone, and even then she hadn’t been allowed to wear anything else while on the job for the sake of ‘consistency’.
Now, in a drastic change from her usual style, she wore a tight black leather jumpsuit over a purple shirt, complete with white gloves and high-heeled boots. The latter two had neon blue accents, too, providing a burst of color as well as an actual light source to see by- perfect for dark missions.
Shadow and Omega hadn’t been allowed any personal effects re: clothing before due to the fact that a few too many supervisors saw them as weapons and not people. Rouge had of course argued against this, but there was only so much one person could do.
Now, though, the bat had insisted that both of her friends get more clothing- ‘if nothing else then to stick it to them’ were her exact words- and they had both taken to it quite well after an initial period of hesitancy. Omega in particular had been quite devastated (and then promptly offended) upon discovering that no leather jackets were currently produced in his specific size. Eventually, however, he was placated with the offer of a fedora, claiming it made him look ‘VERY MYSTERIOUS’. He had now taken to collecting hats as well as weaponry.
Shadow could fit into a leather jacket, on the other hand, and consequently owned about five of them, three of which he’d bought within the same week. Today he wore one with red stitching, and while he hadn’t had anything to say about it, Rouge had caught him admiring it in the mirror before the mission (at which point he scowled, blushed green to his ears, and teleported away).
Right now, though, he and Omega were quietly discussing which documents to take and which ones to leave behind. It would raise suspicions far too quickly if the criminals inhabiting this building came back to discover a completely bare office, after all, so they only took several receipts of major transactions as well as a list of the bank account numbers that had been hacked- and some future targets as well.
(Was this whole thing illegal? Kind of. Did anyone really mind so long as they were helping others? Not really. After all, Tails was totally not old enough to fly a plane, but at this point the government had basically thrown up their hands and said ‘whatever I guess’, so it was fine.)
“ROUGE.” Omega said suddenly, making the bat stop her musing and drop her feet from the desk. “THIS IS IMPORTANT.”
“Yeah, hon? What is it?” she asked, ready to deal with any problems that might arise.
“MY HAT KEEPS FALLING OFF. I REQUIRE SOME SORT OF METHOD TO KEEP IT ON.”
The bat sighed and gave a relieved laugh as Shadow hissed, “Omega! This is a serious mission!”
“It’s alright, Shadow. Omega, we’ll find some double-sided tape or something when we get home, alright?”
The robot paused for a moment, thinking. “THIS IS ACCEPTABLE.”
As Rouge watched, they gathered up the rest of the items and began to move towards the lobby. Today was an off day for the ‘business’, so most of the hallways would be empty. The secretary out front would take his usual break to go get lunch in two minutes as well, giving them a clear chance to escape.
And of course that was when everything went wrong.
It turned out that leaving G.U.N. (while the right idea) wasn’t without its occasional disadvantages. If they’d still been part of the military organization, then they would’ve had the resources to figure out that these criminals were more than a little paranoid, so their security system ran diagnostics every hour on the dot. When it discovered the hacking, it locked Rouge’s access to any other computer terminal and then restricted every single application on that one computer.
These people weren’t exactly beginners when it came to computers, after all.
The bat jumped out of her chair the second her computer glitched and froze, panicked. “Guys. Guys, get out of here right now.” she said urgently into her microphone. “I can bust out a window but you two have to go right now-”
She froze as, on the screen, multiple armed guards and two gigantic mechs dropped down onto the ground level and pointed their guns at Shadow and Omega. The robot moved to cover the hybrid’s back as Shadow pulled his favorite katana sword out of its scabbard.
Rouge refused to sit and watch another minute, kicking the door off its hinges hard enough to slam it against the opposite wall and tearing down the hallway to save her teammates.
Shadow and Omega fought well in the meantime, managing to take out one of the mechs and several guards too. Occasionally, Shadow even curled up and was promptly fired out of his friend’s cannon at top speed, turning into a deadly projectile all by himself.
Eventually, though, one of the guards got too smart and pulled out a stun gun, shocking Omega long enough to put the robot temporarily out of commission. Shadow spun around to defend his friend, using the Chaos Emerald he’d brought along to deliver a devastating blow- but he had nobody to watch his back now, and it barely took a minute before the mech found an opening to slam him into the wall as he dealt with the guards.
Shadow dropped to the ground weakly, temporarily unconscious. Omega was still struggling to get his systems back online.
Rouge, meanwhile, was furious.
The bat rushed to the balcony overlooking the lobby from the third floor, her teeth bared as she watched the mech move into position, prepared to bring its giant fist down on Shadow’s unmoving body. Flipping over the railing, she free-fell the three stories to the ground, slamming both heels into the marble and leaving a long crack across the floor. She snatched up the Emerald from the tile where it had fallen out of Shadow’s quills, holding it tightly in her hand.
“Leave him alone. Now.” she snarled.
When the mech pilot gave her nothing more than a cursory glance, raising the steel fist higher, Rouge charged.
An ultrasonic shriek exploded from her lungs, making every other human in the room double over and clutch their ears. At the exact same time, the glass in the extra-tall windows of the lobby vibrated, cracked, and then shattered into hundreds of pieces.
Rouge didn’t see any of that. Rouge didn’t care about any of that. All she could see was the hedgehog she’d come to care about so much about to be crushed by someone who barely even knew his name.
She jumped up and whirled around in the air, the power of her wings suddenly (strangely) strong enough to send the mech swaying backwards slightly, before lashing out with a kick that dented the chestplate of the thing and hit it hard enough to-
-and Rouge’s eyes widened-
-to send it flying through the shattered windows and down the street that the building faced, so far that it became nothing more than a speck in the horizon.
This was, incidentally, a mech that weighed over two tons.
Omega, near the other end of the room, silently thanked every inventor that had ever lived (aside from Eggman) that he had powered back on in time to see this.
Rouge, however, didn’t spare more than a second to think about it, instead dropping to her knees to check on Shadow. The moment she pressed the Chaos Emerald back into his hand, the hybrid’s eyes began to open slowly.
“Ugh….what happened…?”
“That moron of a pilot smacked you into a wall, hon. Are you gonna be okay?” Rouge asked, scanning his face for any sign of a concussion.
Shadow blinked twice, then suddenly sat bolt upright, his eyes wide. “...Rouge? Are you sure you’re alright?”
The bat frowned, confused, looking over herself. “Yeah, hon, I’m….”
She froze.
While Rouge had seen many strange things in her time, the sight of her lower legs and feet glowing bright purple was certainly a first.
As she jumped back from Shadow in surprise, she let go of the Chaos Emerald in his hand, making the aura surrounding her fade. “What...what was that?”
“YOU WERE SO COOL. THAT IS WHAT THAT WAS.” Omega declared, hauling himself to his feet and walking over. “YOU BEGAN TO GLOW AND KICKED THAT INFERIOR CREATION SEVERAL MILES AWAY. THE ONLY REGRET IN THIS SCENARIO IS THAT YOU WERE UNABLE TO CONTINUE DESTROYING YOUR ENEMIES, AS THERE WAS ONLY ONE OF THEM.”
Shadow looked up at her in surprise and- was that a little bit of awe? “I should have known you’d be able to use Chaos powers!” he said, shaking his head as he got to his feet. “Incredible...it’s no wonder you’re so resilient in battle.”
Rouge pointedly ignored the light flush on her face from all of this praise. “Well, we’ve got what we came for, so there. We’ll leave all of this evidence-” and clearly she wasn’t just talking about the papers- “for that new organization the government’s setting up. What’s it called again?”
Omega shrugged- an odd motion with his bulky shoulders. “THEY’RE STILL DECIDING. HOPEFULLY IT TURNS OUT TO BE SOMETHING COOL.”
“Well, whatever their name is, it’s their job now to deal with all this.” Rouge said, gesturing around at the general mess.
At that moment, the secretary returned with his food, only to stop dead in his tracks and stare at the three members of Team Dark amongst the wreckage of two gigantic robots and a lot of broken glass.
The bat ‘s face split into a wide, wicked grin, pointing directly at him. “And you’ll be the one to explain it to them!”
(It took one extremely short chase to retrieve the man- who foolishly thought he could lose Shadow and Rouge in the alleyways- before he was tied to one of the disgustingly ostentatious pillars by Omega. The team then went home and spent the next two hours watching Rouge glow and then break things…mostly things she meant to hit.)
…
Several days later, her team and Sonic's crew (plus Amy Rose) were in a different city, dealing with the usual biweekly Eggman attack. This one seemed, unfortunately, to not have most of the weak spots that usually came into play when fighting one of his giant robots, as both the power source and the mad scientist in question were heavily guarded.
However, after a particularly well-timed attack from Omega, Amy, and Knuckles all at once, Rouge spotted a panel that was currently rather dented and bent open with some wiring spilling out, and knew exactly what to do.
“Shadow! Omega! Cover me!” she shouted, leaping into the air and soaring towards the robot.
Immediately, she saw several smaller robots explode in her periphery, having fallen victim to the deadly lasers and Chaos Spears that her friends used. Her focus was on one thing and one thing only, though- making it up to that panel.
The moment Rouge latched on, she pulled open the panel the rest of the way and began to rewire the machine at an impressive pace. While she might not be the same kind of tech expert as Tails, who built devices and wrote code most people with a PhD couldn’t understand if they tried, one thing she certainly knew was how to make computers do what she wanted.
Eventually, though, Eggman caught on to what she was doing and tried to swat her off his mech with its two giant metal fists. “What do you think you’re doing down there with my robot?” he shouted, swinging at her wildly.
Suddenly, one of the fists in question promptly vanished, replaced by a smoking hole and a bunch of wires where a functioning steel hand was supposed to be. Rouge, startled, looked around for what could possibly have caused this- and promptly relaxed upon seeing Omega retracting his biggest laser cannon (which was glowing red-hot) back into his chassis with a glare up at his creator.
Thankfully, he’d also provided just the distraction she needed to rewire the last few parts, at which point she jumped off just as the robot began to spin wildly...and then its entire midsection exploded, launching the command center with Eggman still inside a good fifty feet into the air.
The bat landed on the ground to cheers from her friends and took a dramatic bow. Omega clapped a hand on her shoulder in a friendly way (which meant he only knocked the wind out of her and didn’t shove her several feet deep into the asphalt) as Shadow looked on with his arms folded, but still clearly proud.
“Wow, Rouge!” Tails exclaimed, his eyes wide and smile wider. “I didn’t realize you knew your way around that kind of tech that well- you should totally stop by my lab sometime!”
The bat shrugged. “It comes with the job, that’s all.” she insisted, but internally she was more than a little surprised- it still didn’t quite come naturally to her to consider that people would be impressed by what she did. All G.U.N. had ever told her was that she’d done ‘as well as was expected’, which made it seem like her skills were just average. Seeing someone who she’d mostly considered an acquaintance telling her how incredible her skills were when to her it was just ‘something I can do’ was...pretty nice, actually.
Rouge offered him a quick grin as the other three heroes came rushing up to her in varying states of surprise and excitement. “I just might take you up on that offer sometime.”
…
A week after that, Team Dark was spending time at the Station Square mall together- a common occurrence for them. It had good clothes, tolerable food, and most importantly lots of jewelry stores. They were here today because Rouge’s favorite was having a sale, and she refused to miss out on any opportunity to shop for gems.
After about an hour of looking around in the store (most of which was spent attempting to prevent Rouge from emptying said store and/or sneaking things out from inside locked cases), the three finally left with about four tiny bags of jewelry, which Omega wore hooked over his fingers. “THIS SEEMS WASTEFUL, BUT ALSO AMUSING.” he’d commented, at which point the bat riding on his shoulder gasped in mock outrage and began to vehemently defend the store’s choices.
They hadn’t gone more than a few steps, though, before she heard some gasps and squeals somewhere off to the left. She sighed. Some people seemed to have this odd hero-worship thing around Shadow, but the attention only made him feel awkward, so it looked like she’d have to play guard as usual here. Drifting down from her perch as the three young women approached, she said, “Alright, ladies, what are you here for?”
The bravest of the three moved forward, clutching something in her hands. “Uh…”
Rouge prepared herself to say no on behalf of her friend, to hear complaints like ‘why can’t we talk to Shadow?? You suck”, but then-
“...can you sign this poster, please?”
“I’m sorry, I don’t— wait, what?”
The bat stared at the poster, her eyes wide. A picture of herself looked right back at her, a smirk spread across her printed self’s face as jewels dripped from the hand not resting on her hip.
The photo was rather outdated now, having been taken not long after the ARK disaster. Post-crisis, Sonic had insisted that everyone (except for Eggman, since he’d caused that whole mess in the first place) get recognition for trying to save the planet together...and that included her.
Rouge and Sonic had both been wearing Shadow’s inhibitor rings during that photo shoot. It was their way of making sure that even though he wasn’t with them any longer, even though nobody would really remember who he was, he’d still live on in some little way without a big announcement.
She took the poster quickly, shaking off old memories, and gave them a genuine smile- rare for strangers. “Of course, hon!” she said, taking the offered pen and signing her name with a flourish and a little heart.
The one who’d asked promptly squealed and clutched at the poster, a big grin on her face. “Oh wow, thank you sooo much!” she gushed. “You know, you’re, like, my hero, right? Everyone always just, like, says that you can’t look good and be a real hero at the same time, you’re either a sell-out or too serious...but, you’re, like, both?? And that’s just so, y’know, empowering? To see someone looking fabulous and being a hero, but like not taking any nasty comments about it?”
Both her friends agreed eagerly, and Rouge found herself blushing just a little at all this praise. “If either of you have anything else, I could write something on those too,” she offered, still feeling a little bit bewildered at the moment.
This earned her two simultaneous squeals of “Really?!” followed by a lot of frantic searching for paper. Rouge was more than happy to sign her name there too, even adding a little message to each of them- and to the poster for good measure. As the three fans cheered, snapped a quick selfie with her (which was something she so wasn’t used to either), and then rushed off with a “thank you so much!!” Rouge found herself still smiling as she turned to walk back to her friends.
Shadow and Omega had moved a little ways away during all of the fuss, and now they were sporting similarly pleased expressions with more than a little bit of smugness mixed in. “SEE?” Omega asked, and Rouge could tell he’d be smirking if he were able to do so. “WE HAVE TOLD YOU OVER AND OVER AGAIN THAT YOU ARE EXCEPTIONALLY COOL. YOU DIDN’T BELIEVE US THEN, THOUGH….DO YOU NOW?” He stopped there and somehow promptly assumed an even stronger I-told-you-so air than before.
“Maybe you’ll even get your own fanclub before long...oh, wait. Look what I just found.” Shadow added, tossing his phone over to her. Only the faintest of smirks was visible on his face (they were in public, after all) as Rouge stared at the screen proclaiming the current website to be “The Official Rouge Fansite (anyone feel free to join!!)”.
The bat found herself blushing to her ears, flattered and surprised by all of the support she hadn’t known existed until now.
Omega picked her up and set her on his shoulder, turning his head to look up at his friend. “COOL PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE TO WALK PLACES.”
“And-” Shadow added, slinging the bags she’d acquired at the store over her shoulder. “-cool people like you shouldn’t have to carry anything either.”
Rouge wondered briefly if her grin might strain her face if it grew much wider. Leaping down for a moment, she hovered in the air just long enough to ruffle the quills on top of Shadow’s head before perching back on Omega’s shoulder and patting the robot fondly. “You two dorks are the best.” she said warmly.
Shadow huffed and began to walk on ahead, clearly embarrassed. “DORK.” Omega called after the hedgehog, his eyes brightening by about fifteen percent in good humor.
“She called you one too, you know.” Shadow replied without looking back.
“YES, BUT YOUR DORKINESS IS MORE OBVIOUS.” Omega declared, by now shouting across several stores as Rouge tried to stifle a laugh.
“If you don’t catch up and stop talking I’ll hide all the hats in your favorite store and you’ll never find them.” the hybrid growled.
Rouge promptly discovered that Omega, despite weighing a thousand pounds, could in fact move quite quickly when threatened with the loss of a chance to add to his new clothing collection. The robot fired all of his boosters at once, sending them flying down that particular wing of the mall and nearly slamming into a wall in the process.
After a spirited chase that lasted over five minutes (along with lots of shouts of “get him, Omega!” and jumping off balconies and general taunting), the group was promptly escorted out of the mall without a chance to enjoy the store they’d started the ‘fight’ over in the first place.
Rouge watched her two friends sulk for a minute before smirking suddenly.
“Guess what?” she asked, stepping back to look at both of them.
When she had their attention, she pulled out a nice new summer outfit with a laugh…from that same place.
“You didn’t.” Shadow said, staring at the clothing.
“OH, SHE DID.”
Rouge then proceeded to pull both a cool hat in all gold and a nice blue bomber jacket out from behind her back as well, her smile widening even more. “Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten you two at all. Or forgotten to pay, either.” she added quickly with a sigh. She soon shifted to watching with delight, though, as Shadow’s eyes widened considerably and Omega’s head whirled to fixate on her hand.
“HAND IT OVER.” he ordered, holding out his clawed, metallic fingers insistently.
“Well...since you asked so rudely...no.” Rouge replied, before leaping into the sky with a grin.
“What?” Shadow gasped.
The robot’s eyes narrowed. “DON’T YOU DARE.”
Rouge flew higher at that. “Oh, but I do dare.” She wheeled around and began to fly off at top speed, snickering at the sound of indignant shouts behind her. Soon enough, she heard the swish-swish of Shadow’s skates and the clanking of Omega not far behind.
They might be able to catch her eventually, she mused, soaring through a gap between buildings- she wasn’t that fast, really. It wouldn’t be easy for them at all, though.
After all, Rouge was just as powerful as they were, in her own way.

Bought it at Wallmart. Worth the buy.
Gen:Lock, a series that personifies Roosterteeths new capabilities in sound design and animation. A little diamond that ventures in the fictional yet possible world of the near future. To prevent spoilers I will only mention points in the series character decisions, flow of plot and execution. No mentions on episode details, character development, or climaxes will be in the review. Well, here we go.
Story premise: Takes place in the year 2068, the world is united into two factions; one is the home team, while the other is down right scary. And both are at war with each other. To combat the scary faction a top secret science experiment was authorized to create a new breed of soldiers, the Gen:lock initiated. Trained to control mechs in similarity to James Cameron’s Avatar, their goal is to protect innocents while facing the scary faction.
My thoughts: Though it’s obvious on whose the main protagonists and antagonists, their is no explanation to how the war came to be. At first I was super annoyed by this fact. But after watching later episodes, it came to me that Roosterteeths sole focus was the development of the main cast and nothing else. And it works, mainly because it creates the itch of wanting to see more of the world of Gen:Lock. As for choice in characters, each main protagonist felt like the embodiment to respected homelands; The Middle East( the character in yellow), Russia (the character in purple), Ireland (the character in green), Japan (the character in red/orange), and America (the center lead character with blue in his hair). There persona’s are well diverse and entertaining to listen to; like watching five adoptive siblings trying to survive each other and the world.
Conclusion: Without a doubt, this series is one to invest in. And from what I heard a comicbook came out to extend what left off in the season. After that, a new season on Roosterteeth.
Grade: 7/10 for me.

Steven Universe; A beginning.
I started watching Steven universe out of.... Borden. I had been burned by CN show’s and didn’t think anything of value could come from it, plus I was much older at the time, as of writing this I’m 27, enough about be tho. How was this series and this SEASON FINAL (yeah they’re not over can you believe that).
At first I thought it was OK. But as the story went on and the messages below the surface became clear I understood how important this series is. I’ve followed it since then and watched it build to this moment. While it will continue onward, There’s thill the movie and season 6, I feel if it ended here I would be satisfied.
So where does all this satisfaction come from, Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll..
SPOILERS BELOW!!!
SERIOUSLY GUYS IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED IT GO NO FURTHER!!!
HERE WE GO
The episode Start’s where we think it left off Steven in the prison that the Diamonds would leave Pink when she misbehaved. Only to realize that this is a dream, Steven once again accessing his mothers memories somehow. It shows us that Pink was always the way we’ve seen her. The dream however reinforces the question that Steven has been haunted by.
Who
am
I
Steven has been worried about not being himself, that he is just his mother. This has been shown in how he has tried to shoulder some of her mistakes and make up for them all this series. It’s something that has terrified him. That he could just be his mother or spend his life making up for everything she’s done.
but the dream does give him clarity on how his mother was treated by the Diamonds, and he confronts blue with this. Steven and Connie confront Blue with the fact that the will have a big problem if they don’t leave the tower, that problem being “Death by Starvation”. Blue just thinks it another trick, that Pink is still putting on a show like always, she demands that Steven apologizes.
Steven then does something that makes me feel so proud of him, He says no. He’s not sorry and he’s not going to apologize. Well Blue tries to crush Steven with emotion but he just makes it clear that what he did with Connie, what all the Crystal gems do is perfectly natural. He tells blue that all of this is cruel and that none of this is normal so Blue does the only reasonable thing. She fires an energy ball at Blue. Oh did I say reasonable I meant ABUSIVE.
Steven then points out the obvious, NONE OF THIS IS NORMAL. This is not how a family acts. He confronts Blue with how she manipulated Pinks emotions and treated her so cruelly. This opens up Blues eyes and she sees how failed gem society is. She decides to help them get the gems back go home.
I’m sure Yellow will be just as happy to oblige.
Oh um...
This is probably not the outcome we wanted. But see Yellow and Blue can be seen as abused children under a abusive matriarch. White Diamond expects perfection from them and will potentially harm them if they fail her. Blue is the quite and doting daughter that just goes along with everything were as Yellow is the daughter who tries to meet the authority figures expectations, often out of fear.
Well they Fight and they Fight and they Fight and they Fight until Steven breaks up the fight and Confronts Yellow Diamond On how perfect a society is if it requires all this cruelty. Steven uses the family motto of “If every pork chop were perfect we wouldn’t have hot dogs. This society’s perfections is at the coast of all those hotdogs being thrown away into the trash bin. Bubbled so they don’t ruin everything. Hotdogs like they’re Pink (I think that’s how it goes).
Yellow breaks down in her own tears and Blue is there to help her through this realization.
Now that both of them are on the same page as Steven we need to get the hell outta he....
Ooooooh..... Hi white(pink) pearl. Well it’s just her so maybe we can....
Oh right those can combine. Well it’s a pretty sticky wicket that we’re in until bismuth and the others arrive with the repaired arms, they knock white’s robot for a loop. and show off their new forms.
Rebecca
You WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEB!!!
Blue and Yellow offer to distract white so they can escape but Steven is doesn’t wanna run or fight like his mom. That solved nothing, he wants to try a convince White to just stop all this, or as he puts it; “If we can fix our family we can fix anything”. So we just gotta connivance a tyrant that her way of running things isn’t working. No pressure.
The talking route however does not seem to work. she want’s none of it. she blasts Blue and Yellow. Which, strips them of any free will and turns them into Whites dolls.
That is creepy. Anyway Steven and the others are about to be thrown off and Steven looses hold of the Gems. He jumps down to get them but now he’s falling He needs to think of something so he just.
Fuses with them to bull them out. First with Amythest to get smokey quartz and then with pearl to make.
Rainbow Quartz 2.0. Who is as sassy and gay as he needs to be.
Using the power of rainbows they get to Ruby and Sapphire and make it to ground safly, along with everyone else. He needs Garnet and quick because White is about to stomp them buuuuuu then comes.
Sun Stone. Who is Steven’s idea of what a cool person would be. Awesome.
side note.
New Outfits
Anyway they try to climb but it’s not enough so they All Fuse into
Obsidian. Oh and Connie gets a new sword.
They all rush the Diamond mech with Bismuth Connie Lapis and Peridot running interference but some of them get knocked out so Obsidian decides it’s time to bust out a sword of her own.
A fugjdsklfj;ldsajfeklawfjdskl MAGMA SWORD!!!
ahm, So they cut the arms off and get right to the head. Their forced to defuse but they get in. Okay final boss time. Unfortunately it isn’t much of a fight. White blasts the Gems with her Powers and her she gives her creepy rhetoric. As white diamond she is all colors of the light. All Gems are her some for of imperfect to her. She berets Steven saying he only keeps his friends around because they are imperfect, so he can feel imperfect. She mocks Steven’s very existence, saying he must just be Pink Diamond living inside a human boy. So she forces Pink out. Buy terring out Stevens Gem.
But this is all wrong. Because when Steven’s gem tries to reform. It becomes steven. And it’s angry.
It’s raw power is enough to force White back and Free the others. This is the culmination of Steven’s question. Am I My Mother. He’s not, he’s Steven, he’s had the fortitude to go a make up for his mothers mistakes, But he did this because he chose to do so. Not because he’s Rose trying to make up for everything. It was his choose to got to homeworld, his choose to redeem Gem society, and his choose to not end this the dark way. Gem Steven could end White Diamond if he wanted to but that’s not what Steven wants. And so his power and emotion come back together. In a beautiful scene.
This breaks Diamonds world. She looses control of the others, even Pink Pearl.
Steven offers...
Bit late to the party guys. Steven offers to show her a better way. They head back to earth in the middle of Sadie’s concert. And Lars manages to show up to. Everyone’s happy.
And Steven get’s to accomplish his goal. Curing the corrupted Gems.
All of them
Even Jasper
Who is ready to clobber Steven. Until Amy cools her jets.
Yeah we all have that feeling Jasper. Everything raps up pretty quick here. The Diamonds go home and Steven with his family decide to relax on the.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Not what I saw coming but I really enjoyed it. Rebecca wanted to create a show where we can come to an understanding with each other. where we can accept each others differences and learn to love each other. I’m fin with that, it is a bit rushed with how fast White Diamond turned good but maybe we could see her working though everything. The lesson of not everyone can be redeemed is taught in many other things, it doesn’t have to be here. Or maybe it’s a little down the road. More on that because this isn’t the end. There are some loose thread that can be explored. The zoo needs to be depopulated and returned to earth. Many worlds the gems conquered could need to be restored and then theirs the movie to consider.
Where is this Heart shaped Gem gonna come from.
And that question would lead into
Where did the gems come from anyway?
I look forward to seeing more. I hope all of you are to.
Or heck we could all get tired of it. Who knows
catch you latter.

A Spider Weaves
Reyes took the document handed to him and read it solemnly. “Gather the squad,” he said eventually. “We got important business to deal with.”
Some time later, Shockwave sat in his favored form of a rocket-propelled helicopter jet, slightly modified so it had a pair of legs, crude manipulators, and a forward section resembling a head. In deference to his look, it had but one eye. “I brought everyone not attending to other duties. What’s the matter?”
Reyes regarded the avalilable team: Harley Quinn, sprawing her body over Poison Ivy in a way that blocked out all light from above with their hyper curvy bodies. Eddie Brock, looking poker-faced as Venom grew into a massive framework that Brock poked out of like a gremlin operating a mech far too large for it. Ranamon was there, looking polite and keen, and Widowmaker had managed to find time for them, for once! Even Blue Diamond, having summoned a duplicate to travel with them, was there.
As far as anyone knew, he thought as he glanced across the sleepy suburban town they were operating out of these days, they were just a commune of friends who lived together. It was a good cover, mainly because it wasn’t technically wrong. But he’d wondered for a while why one of the Senior Partners had worked so hard to get them assigned to this part of the multiverse.
Given the orders, innocuous as they seemed, he suspected they had been part of someone’s larger plan for a while.
“The mission’s simple; we have to establish oruselves as superheroes, and respectable ones, within the next five years or so. We got some identities lined up to look cool, if we don’t have better ones.”
Ranamon looked puzzled. “Um. But why?”
Reyes gave her the document. “Seems that there’s someone of interest growing up in this area and one of the Senior Partners is very keen on him having good role models to learn from.”
Ranamon read, “A boy named Miles Morales is growing up in the area, right now. It is VERY IMPORTANT that he see what real heroes should act like, right away. Make sure he gets the right idea. If possible, forge a friendly rivalry with a local inventor who is using high-spectacle villainy to get attention for his inventions; it may be possible to turn him to the hero side by building a connection. He goes by The Prowler; real name Aaron Davis, but is hiding under the name Hobie Brown.’”
“Huh.” Eddie said. “We gotta be role models?” He shrugged, and the symbiote chimed in, “Not precisely what we are best at, yes?”
Blue Diamond considered this. “Who authorized this, exactly?”
Reyes squirmed uncomfortably. “Well, you know Waller... she doesn’t like revealing her hand, and keeps the Senior Partner’s identities pretty close unless they TELL us in person who they really are. But whoever it was? They signed it.”
Ranamon held out the document.
Where you might expect to see a signature, there the image of a small, stylized spider.
---------
In the realm of the gods, there was a spider.
Perhaps he looked like a man; a man of oldest West Africa, certainly. Maybe he wore a fancy purple suit with canary-yellow gloves. Maybe he was dressed in ritual garments, his mask evoking a spider, and his body decorated in elaborate paints of red and black, lined so that he seemed covered in webs.
And perhaps, if you looked him right, you saw a spider. A massive spider taller than a horse, eyes shining like jewels, or a tiny brown spider hiding beneath a leaf. Perhaps even a tall mixture of spider and man; a man who dreamed of being a spider? The first spider, clever enough to walk like a man did?
He was a god of old stories. The distinction was not important.
Here and now, old Anansi the spider weaved together a mask, humming to himself.
The mask was black, linked with red and hints of blue.
“Power and responsibility,” he said softly. “One comes with the other. It always does. Let me tell you a story... once upon a time, a man learned that the hard way.”
He glanced into the aether, reflectively.
“Maybe it doesn’t need to. Maybe you just need an example to follow up to.”

After Years (McCree X Reader)
“It’s crazy to think we’ll be celebrating the five-year anniversary of the recall this weekend… don’t you think, Jesse?”
But the cowboy seemed far too distracted to even hear the question. The general buzz and the constant reminders of “The Old Overwatch” seemed more inescapable than ever this week and it was driving him crazy. Thoughts of you were swarming his head. It had been years, years since he’s seen you; not a day went by that he didn’t think of you. Your hair, the way it shone in the sunshine, the way your eyes sparkled as you laughed and your smile that lit up the room even through the post-crisis scenery.
Obviously, he knew where you were now… everyone on the team did. You’d left this life behind you to pursue your dream career in the limelight. He would always hear you talk about how Overwatch was just a temporary life for you, how it would pay the bills and someday you’d have enough to move on.
“Jesse~” Lena waved a hand in front of his half-lidded eyes. A few blinks later, he was pulled back into reality. Lena smiled sympathetically, “Sorry, I know how hard this whole event for you.”
McCree nodded and sighed, his eyes flickering to the break-room’s TV as a bright red “Breaking News” sign flashed on the screen. What came next made Jesse’s heart stammer.
One of the photos from your most recent photoshoot appeared on the screen.
“Hanzo, turn that up for me real quick.” He urged frantically and gestured to the TV.
The archer scoffed but followed his orders. Jesse felt his stomach drop at what the anchor said next, “Musician and model, Y/N Y/L/N has been reported as missing after her management claim she wasn’t at her penthouse apartment in Upstate New York this morning. Y/N was last seen in the late hours of last night alongside her chauffeur who escorted her home. Her management have released a statement asking, ‘If anyone has any news of her whereabouts, please do not hesitate to contact their local authorities immediately.’ Y/N ‘s family are yet to make a comment on this situation.”
And then the screen went black. McCree whipped his head around to see Lena’s concerned face holding the remote to the TV. “Oxton, you know I love ya but I swear if you don’t-”
“Calm down cowboy. You and I both know this isn’t what you need right now.” She sighed. Jesse opened his mouth to interject but found himself being cut off again. “Come on, Genji and Hana still need help with setting up decorations.”
So, that’s how he ended up precariously balanced on a ladder, trying to pin up a custom-made banner by Hana and Lucio. Obviously, this wasn’t distracting him for that news report and he found himself slowly growing frustrated as Hana kept changing how she wanted it to be hung - any other day, he would’ve been fine.
Zarya strolled in, clapped a hand on the Mech pilot’s shoulder and stared at Jesse and the banner. “Are you sure that’s where you want it to go?” She asked, accent thick and a devilish grin on her lips. Jesse bit down on his tongue to stop him from snapping. He felt the ladder shake from beneath him as Genji’s semi-robotic laughter piped up. McCree shot him daggers but that only led to more laughter from the cyborg.
The volume of excited chatter was slowly rising in the room was rising gradually and Jesse could feel himself slowly disassociating from the bright lights and loud music. He’d given up listening to Hana and Zarya, at this point he was just pretending to follow their instructions at this point.
Once again, he let himself get lost in the thought of you. What he wouldn’t give to be the reason you were laughing one more time, the way you always lingered in his arms after every successful mission, the motivation and encouragement you would shout down the telecom during each battle.
Suddenly, Lucio’s records scratched and the entire room fell silent. “Oh, my God.” Lena breathed as a hand rose to her mouth in shock. Everyone was staring at the doorway that Jesse was balancing over, so, of course he couldn’t see who had caused such a commotion. He craned his neck to try and get a glimpse but the ladder was shaking so vigorously.
“I hope I’m not too late for the party.”
That voice. That subtle laugh behind those words. Jesse’s heart was fit to burst as he shifted one more time without thinking.
The ladder tipped and sent Jesse falling about 7ft to the ground. He landed with an ungraceful thud and earned a couple of glares and sniggers. He rubbed his leg and lifted his hat - in that moment, all of his dreams and worst nightmares came true.
There you stood. The mix of Hollywood and time had been kind to you. You still looked like the same sparkling diamond amongst all this rough, only now that sprightly essence was replaced with a more sophisticated and mature manner. Your clothes seemed worn and wrinkled, as if you had ran there straight from New York, your hair slightly messy and mascara was smudged under your eyes (but not enough to make you seem like you were a train wreck) and yet you still looked as beautiful as ever.
Jesse cleared his throat, “You never fail to make an entrance, darlin’.” He internally shuddered at his lack of practise when it came to wooing you.
He wasn’t expecting you to smile, but you laughed - a sound he’d been craving for almost a decade - and waltzed over to him. The years that you two were apart were seemingly stripped away as Jesse felt like a lovesick fool dressed in his Blackwatch uniform and you with your bubbly personality and undeniably attractive looks were keeping him hooked on every word you said.
“And you never fail to make a memorable first impression, cowboy.” You stood between his legs and offered him a hand up. Jesse took it, sheepishly and let you help him up.
What came next was just him going into autopilot mode. He engulfed you in his arms and buried his nose into the top of your head. “God, I’ve missed you so much. I am so proud of you for everythin’ you’ve achieved.” He spoke, refraining from allowing his voice to break as he felt your grip on him tighten.
“I’ve missed you too.”
You two had so much to catch up on.

Mild Steven Universe theory
Rewatching "Lion 4: Alternate Ending," and I had a thought:
That's not a great angle, but I'm pretty sure those are legs. Why is there a giant pink pair of legs? Is that Pink Diamond's ship? Why is Pink Diamond's ship a pair of legs?
Well, here's where it gets a little wierd.
Yellow and Blue have opposite arms - one on the left, and one on the right. You can tell because of the thumbs.
So what if the Diamond ships are supposed to... fit together, in some way? What if you put them together, and they make a giant mech? What if Steven Universe goes Voltron?
WHAT IF THIS THING IS THE HEAD.
White on top, Yellow and Blue in the middle, Pink on the bottom. Just like the Diamond Authority symbol.
And... I don't know about you... but it looks to me like that White Diamond building doesn't have any arms.
GIANT DIAMOND VOLTRON

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1424
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1424 Brought to you by ANN Highlighting the September 3367 Limited Tonnage This time the Gaming Authorities again let us have a free choice in what Mechs to use, although the total tonnage we were allowed to bring was restricted. The higher the top you were asigned to, the bigger the tonnage allowance were. But the Gaming Authorities were ruthless when it came to enforcing said limits, and woe the Commander who came to the mountains with an overweight formation. Those formations were stripped. Left to right, bottom to top until the tonnage were within the limits. If that ment removing a 115 tonner because the formation still was 5 tons overweight, so be it. Thus, those who failed to adjust their formations found themselves having 3-7 lines of 1-3 Mechs each, not an optimal lineup against full lines. As for me, a contract meeting was scheduled for the duration of the scramble. But the meeting was cut short, so just a few seconds before the scramble were to begin I managed to reach the hangar. There were no time to create a fresh formation, so my 1200 formation were called up, and at a run we headed for the mountains. K3 had a full complement and formations to spare, so we had to start out on the plains. I wondered briefly about the tonnage of the opposing formations, but there were no time to run deep analyzes, so we just struck out and hoped for the best. Luck was with us, and a string of contenders with 1-2 Mech lines fell before our full lines as we raced up toward the slopes. But gaining the top proved impossible. Darren Jackson from Myth and Legends Team Banzai was well within the allowed limit, and with a licence nearly 30 higher than ours his Mechs simply had more firepower than we could face. So we emplaced recording equipment and waited for some of the contestants below us to get into formation and claim our spot. But no such displacement happened, so we were allowed to stand in the second rank when the prizes were awarded. Those who stood in the first rank were: Div 1 386+ (33 Commanders): Claude Poirier, Winters Coming (3m,49s) 2: Fabio Favaro 3: Sal vezzosi Jr 4: Mk Mathews 5: Sherriff Leary Wretham 6: Gary Muenzel 7: Bernard Johnson 8: Roy Cheah 9: Jeff Haas 10: Larry Vandervort Div 2 -385 (7 Commanders): Darryl Proctor, Northwind Dragons (3h,5m) Div 3 -300 (22 Commanders): Darren Jackson, M&L Team Banzai (12h,23m) Div 4 -195 (20 Commanders): Luc Lachance, Ronins (10m,19s) Div 5 -140 (9 Commanders): Allan Davis, Diamond Dragons (12h,37m) Div 6 -114 (20 Commanders): Siegfried Gust, Black Star Bandits (4m,27s) Div 7 -86 (25 Commanders): Nick Ferguson, M&L B.o.P.S. (4s) Div 8 -62 (19 Commanders): Clint Blackburn, Murdermech mini (1m) Div 9 -36 (24 Commanders): Restlessmech, Ronins 2 (2h,49m) 5(1S)+4(2S)+7+12(3S)+9(G,4S)+6+10(2S)+9(1S)+7(G,4S)= Two Golds, seventeen Silvers and fifty Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who had overweight formations. Total Contestants: 179 Total medals claimed: 121 (of 135 possible) Compared to the previous (Nifthel) event, the number of contestants increased by nineteen. But the imabalance between the tops were worse this time, and fourteen Bronzes (eight from K2 and six from K5) ended unclaimed and had to be returned for resmelting. The last half-hour saw five Golds changing hands, one of them finally decided less than a handfull of seconds before the light flashed. The other four Golds were all held for at least two hours. So some strong winners and some close fights. But was the struggle for the lesser prizes more lackluster? To find out we need to examine the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event: .............Silvers......Bronzes Div 1 ....2 of 4.........2 of 10 Div 2 ....4 of 4.........2 of 2 Div 3 ....2 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 4 ....2 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 5 ....4 of 4.........4 of 4 Div 6 ....0 of 4.........4 of 10 Div 7 ....0 of 4.........9 of 10 Div 8 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 9 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10 On two of the tops (K2 and K5) there were not even a single successfull medal attack. To balance this, both Mount Olympus and K6 saw most of the medals end in fresh hands. Sixteen Silvers(45%) and twenty-five Bronzes(33%) ended with fresh holders, -but the turnover was lower than the 55% for the Golds. None of the clans managed to bring home more than one Gold, and none of the Golds ended in the hands of unaligned Commanders either. But we had two repeat winners: Darryl Proctor from Northwind Dragons on K2, as well as Winters Coming`s Claude Poirier who claimed his third Gold in a row on Mount Olympus. Upcoming event: Banshee Here we are back to a Mech/tonnage event again. This events supposed star is the 30 ton Banshee, and on the eight tallest tops only one non-Banshee (at or below 30 tons) will be legal in the formations. On K9 there will be a 30 ton max event instead. Event ends January 27 between 1900 and 1930 New York Time

TIMBER AGENTS: Adventures in the Overgrowth - aka my fake anime aka Discord RPG Setting Dump 2
Timber Agent was a long running 80s Light Novel series that was adapted for tv in 1996. It was famously what Akira Toriyama worked on in between Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Great designs didn’t save the show though and it was canceled after one season, before the main characters ever became the titular Timber Agents.
The show became a cult classic during a short run on Toonami where Steve Blum made his second famous role as Valiant Star. Even though the Toriyama designs weren’t close to the Light Novels description it stayed in the public mind enough to get a reboot in 2016 called Timber Agent: Adventures in the Overgrowth done by Studio Shaft.
After the first season sold gangbusters in both Japan and in the West a second and third season were announced. On top of that the original author is planning for six more chapters and “possibly more”. With nostalgia we might finally see Timber Agent fully animated as it rightly should be.
Obviously this didn’t exist…instead this is my “Shonen Battle Manga Setting” for Mutants and Masterminds. Here’s the setting.
One thousand years ago magic returned with a crash as the Old Gods fought massive beasts in their last battle. Cities flooded, earthquakes ate entire nations, and all electronics were changed. Some were merely broken beyond repair while a few became ingrained with magical power. The robotic armies of man were given free will and the mech suits used by human soldiers were cursed, each with a different curse that affected their users. In the end man retreated from the cities and started a small life.
One thousand years later, the time we play in, society has built itself back up. (Kingdoms will be posted later)
Magic started affecting humans in odd ways. Some were born with magical abilities, usually one single power or several small weak ones. Humans born with these powers are called Gems and their “purity”, aka the level of power they wielded, was measured. From weakest to strongest they are called Stones, Sapphires, Rubies, and Diamonds. The name was adopted due to anyone given the gift having gem eyes, each level named after the eyes that develop.
The Robots ended up having a massive war that lasted a hundred years. Half wanted to help humanity while the others wished to rule them. A few even wanted to eradicate them. In the end the good Robots won but they could not bring themselves to kill their brothers and instead put them to sleep, hoping that when they wake they will understand empathy. Most of the heroic Robots went into a sleep mode also, most for their own reasons. The few that kept awake helped humanity in small ways, keeping their creators alive when they would be dead. Humanity has all but forgotten making Robots and view them as rare powerful gods and revere them as such, though they tend to not enjoy being worshipped.
Mech suits are called Machine Armor and each has its own temperament connected to their curse. Some require bloodshed to run while others need long rituals for daily use. Some have odd weaknesses such as not working in shadows or not being able to harm wood.
Elves - Otherwordly abominations whose beauty is so great a single glance makes you mad.
Talpi/Moles - Small wrinkly men with big claws and bigger whisker mustaches. They use their claws to dig massive underground cities. They eat rocks and metals and live in structured clans waiting for the day that Old Wodd, their creator, comes back. They gain sexual traits for childbirth and lose them whenthey give birth. Child Talpi are small worms and generally number in the hundreds and are kept in shallow pits and given rotten meat, it’s easier for them to chew, for a week before they are considered “children”. Usually only five or so survive to “childhood” and Talpi don’t really consider worm-talpi to be sentient until a week. Talpi also raise and herd giant insects for all parts of life. They use silk strands from spider-cows for their clothes, ride giant beetles up walls, and use giant worms for meat. Surface Talpi use their giant insects as both riding animals and weapons.
Giants - Multi-armed hairless men who stand ten feet tall or even taller. They hate humans because they were given the gift of magic while they were cursed to never be able to use it. They are inherently stronger than most other races and usually are just bandits. Some drink the blood of the sleeping Midgard Serpent to gain horrific powers. Some say they used to be Aesir, the warrior children of old gods, but the blood must have been diluted from a thousand years of breeding. Now they measure their families closeness to deity-hood by the number of arms they have.
Trolls - Big smelly and silly trolls live in swamps and sewers and eat rocks and metals. They aren’t very smart and tend to be kind to travelers. Evil wizards like to warp their minds and use them as monsters.
Draugr - Undead creatures consumed by obsessions, these obsessions usually influence their physical form in some manner. They enjoy causing pain and chaos no matter their obsessions.
Tariaksuq/Shadow-people - A race of people as varied as humanity. They can’t be seen if someone stares straight at them.
Ijiraq/Shape-shifters - Monsters who masquerade in human form. They can change their bodies to suit their needs and are strict carnivores. They enjoy the taste of children most.
Qalupalik/Boogeys - Beautiful women who are always covered in water. They have long nails that can cut stone and are also carnivores. They tend to be less monstrous than Shape-Shifters but a few will go down the darker path and steal children. They love the water and some even have a magical ability to control it.
Blotsno/Frosties - Frosties are a kind race of magical people. They were born when Asgard fell on Earth in the far reaches of Antarctica. Frosties tend to stay to themselves and most only worry about breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tea time. They form large homes in snow drifts and love twinkling lights because they remind them of the stars. They have a long history of artists and will write songs, paint pictures, and create plays all about the Aurora Borealis. The females tend to look like snowmen while the males are look like they are carved out of ice. They are born in tiny ice eggs that the women lay. Their special type of magic allows them to easily move small objects and even boil water and fry meat without heat.
Goblins - Goblins come in hundreds of variations but the most important part is they are carnivorous, treacherous, little imps who delight in torture and are only motivated by an empty belly and inventive ways to kill things.
Languages - Norse: Old Norse with additions of English and Mexico. Farther east it’s mixed with Korean and Chinese. Spoken by everyone but Moles, Frosties, Giants, and Trolls each have their own dialect. Everyone knows a version of it, it’s basically Common. If you take Comprehend Languages you also learn every dialect.
- Coyote: A mystic language held by all animals given to them by the trickster shape-shifter Coyote. Shadow-people, Shape-shifters, and Boogeys all have their own dialect of this. Comprehend Animals gives you all of this.
- Machines all have specific language-like codes. Comprehend Machines give you all of this.
- Rot-Speak: Draugr come in hundreds of variations and many can speak Norse, but the maddening language they share is given with Comprehend Spirits.
The Old Gods were good Gods though not always nice ones. Each race has been touched by one of them. Even dead the Gods are worshipped and the many small magical creatures they had made in their long life respect prayers to their deity.
Old Wodd was their leader and father to most of them. He made the Talpi as a gift to his son Bjorn who loved insects. Wood spirits follow his prayers. All creatures answer prayers for wisdom and leadership when send with his name.
Little Vadr was their trickster and a bit of a bastard. Even then he still fought against the Leviathan when the Last War came. He made the shape shifters, the boogeyman, and shadow-people. Spirits of books and secrets listen to his prayers. Coyote answers his prayers for him but chooses only the most tricky and thieving of them.
Bjorn the Bear was Old Wodds favorite son. He was the strongest and the Giants say they were his children, though nobody believes them. He enjoyed small things and fought to protect them. Old spirits of stone and steel listen to his prayers. Any prayer for strength is answered by spirits if sent with his name.
Holda the Black was the oldest daughter of Old Wodd and enjoyed darker things. She helped Little Vadr make his Shadow People and generally hid until the Last War.
Young Sybil was the youngest daughter of Old Wodd and was the most beautiful by far. She was lost to the Elves, never to come back.
Old Mag is the wife of Old Wodd and mother to all races. She made the Blostsno’s to take care of the world when she would die, though Bjorn gave the men great strength. Most believe she was the reason why humans gained magical abilities. Any prayer for protection is answered by spirits when said in her name and magic items charged with her prayer can tell when Elves are near.
During the Last War the Gods fought Leviathan, a massive continent sized serpents, and his many children. Though they slew his children the body of Leviathan fell on the world and was not dead. He sleeps, wrapped across the north, and it’s blood corrupts anything it touches. This has risen legions of Eldritch horrors and some giants even trek across the planet to drink its caustic blood. Those who survive find themselves filled with dark and horrific strength or mutated into powerful monstrosities.
Leviathan ate the World Tree when the Last War happened but a single mysterious man, known as Father Root, took two seeds and replanted them in the center of the world. These two seeds grew to be the Tree of Life, always in bloom, and the Tree of Death, always bare. These two Trees gained a sapience and created the Order to protect the world if ever the Leviathan woke again. In time every kingdom learned of the Order and took their warriors, called Timber Agents, and their actions as law. One thousand years later they are known as the group of the most powerful mortals in the realm and the treasure from their adventures passed onto the Order itself. In exchange for their service Timber Agents are given riches, are above the law in every but the most dystopian state, and contacts in secret groups that would never speak to a lesser mortal.
Every five years the Gauntlet of Wood is held to find new warriors for the Order. Hundreds of people attempt to pass it but those who pass each year are barely a handful of the contestants. It is deadly, it is cruel, and in the end your death is more likely than your passing.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1416
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1416 Brought to you by ANN Highlighting the May 3367 Northern Wind The Gaming Authorities decided to have another tonnage limited event, and set the limit at 95 tons. In addition, on the six highest tops they decided to let the Boreas shine, so those fighting there were allowed to use no more than one non-Boreas. Among the 95 tonners the Boreas is probably the best-selling model, and during the last SelfSame event it won Gold on most of the tops. So while we had a quartet of them, the odds were that many of the opponents might have at least as many. Well, first order of the day was to select what Mech to send along. The best choice would be among the other 95 ton elite models, but should we use the Cyclops, Anubis or Cameron? After a serious decision process between the three likely pilots using the rock/paper/scissors metod, the Cyclops drew the longest straw. This gaive us a five-Mech line and it was sent to the mountains. After looking at the opponents, it seemed most of them had arrived using what looked suspiciously like their main formations, although a half-dozen at least had Boreas`es at point. Some heavy strikes later we had managed to claim a spot on the slopes, and decided to halt as the scramble was still some time into the future. Then a crisis arose out in the rim. One of our clients was under attack, and it was my turn to respond. Cursing under my breath, the crew were told to hold as best they could while I delt with this brushfire. Hopefully I would be beack in time for the scramble, but to keep the crew busy they were told to get as much footage as they could. A long time later I returned. The climb had ended long since, but at least the footage told me that the winners had been: Div 1 442+ (25 Commanders): Ben Rail, Winters Coming (1h,31m) 2: Sherriff Leary Wretham 3: Shawn Wretham 4: Makema Mathews 5: Bernard Johnson 6: Gary Muenzel 7: Robert C Goetz Sr 8: Michael Coldwell 9: Fabio Favaro 10:George Warren Div 2 -441 (13 Commanders): Chong Chin, Heroes (2h,2m) Div 3 -339 (22 Commanders): Darryl Proctor, Northwind Dragons (3m,48s) Div 4 -219 (20 Commanders): Luc Lachance, Ronins (2m,6s) Div 5 -156 (18 Commanders): Jay Davis, Diamond Dragons (38m,45s) Div 6 -129 (17 Commanders): Spartia Mechapoulos, T.I.o.M.T. (19m,20s) Div 7 99 (24 Commanders): John D, T.I.o.M.T. (1d,7h) Div 8 -70 (26 Commanders): Allan Layton, **R.V.** (1h,29m) Div 9 -39 (29 Commanders): RobertGoetz, Ronins 2 (20h,16m) While it is almost impossible to say how many Commanders stayed within the Boreas requirement, we can at least say that 11(2S)+8(3S)+7(2S)+6(2S)+5+5(G,1S)+4+0+0= One Gold, ten Silvers and thirty-five Bronzes was awarded to Commanders who clearly had overweight Mechs in their formations. Total Contestants: 194 Total medals claimed: 133 (of 135 possible) Compared to the Rainbow event we had previously, the number of contestants was increased by twenty-five. But there were still some imbalance between the tops, so two of the Bronzes on K2 ended unclaimed and had to be returned for resmelting, The last half-hour saw a trio of Golds changing hands while another trio of Golds were held for more than two hours. One of the later were held for more than a day. So some close fights, and some strong winners. Question is if the fighting for the rest of the prizes was more intense? To find out, we count the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event: .............Silvers......Bronzes Div 1 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 2 ....4 of 4.........8 of 8 Div 3 ....1 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 4 ....2 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 5 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 6 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 7 ....4 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 8 ....3 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 9 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10 On two of the tops (K2 and K5) there were not even a single successfull medal attack. And the fighting was not fierce enough to redistribute the majority of the medals on any of the other tops either. The total number new medal holders was down to eight Silvers(22%) and eighteen Bronzes(21%), both below the 33% turnover for the Golds. This event saw just The Isle of Misfit Toys claiming a double Gold, they got them by winning on both K6 and K7. There were no unaligned winners this time, but The Isle of Misfit Toys had an repeat winner as well: Spartia Mechapoulos on K6. Upcoming event: King of the Mountain Here we get another unlimited battle, but unlike the King Chrono we had back in March, this is a sudden death event. Event ends January 17 between 1900 and 1930 New York Time

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1410
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1410 Brought to you by ANN Highlighting the February 3367 SelfSame The Gaming Authorities had seemingly grown weary from the muttering of the various Commanders about the strait-jacket events held lately, where only certain models were legal. So while they still only would let us use one model, this time each Commander would be free to choose the model they felt were their best. For me, -and probably the majority of the Commanders, this became a question of quality or quantity. There were full single model formations ready in the hangar, but none of them held models massing more than 60 tons. And using those going up against the tough opponents on K4 was probably just setting the Mechs up for the opponents target practice. No, I would have to pick one of the elite BFM models, question was which? In the last SelfSames my quintet of Fext`s had been selected. This was partly because at least one of the chosen model had to be in the PointMech position, and my formation only have room for five Mechs in the frontline. Would it be good enough this time? Best way to find out was to get to the mountain and see if we could claim and hold the top. But other strong opponents would surely show up, and probaly have at least a full line of BFM`s. Was there any way to get a stronger formation in place? Due to recent upgrading of my Piloting Licence, the Cyberkittens had grown a bit, so perhaps they could be used instead? Bruno (my chief Tech) advised aginst it. "Have you looked at their development cycle? They are not even two thirds through it, and are lacking two Engines, a Chasis and a Cockpit compared to a fully grown one!" He had a point. On the other hand, there were after all seven of them, so I could put one on point and have a full six-Mech line in reserve. Of course, to get them somewhere near fully combat capable we would have to rob Peter, Paul, Thomas and a few others for top equipment. And after doing so, the robbery victims would have to be replaced by lighter Models. But amid much muttering and cursing the job was finally done, and we returned to the mountains to find the formation on the lowest slope position. They had been displaced by a stronger formation. The Cyberkittens growled as they looked at the top, and suddenly they sprang foreward. After some brief tearing and ripping the top were ours, and the kittens stood staring defiantly down at the competition. The rest of the crew carefully placed recording equipment in spots where the kittens was unlikely to fish it out and use as toys, and we settled down to wait for a counterattack. But before anyone could displace us, the light flashed and it was over. And the undamaged recording equipment showed that this events winners had been: Div 1 428+ (23 Commanders): Ben Rail, Winters Coming (Boreas)(2s) 2: Sherriff Leary Wretham 3: Bernard Johnson 4: Sal Vezzosi Jr 5: Were Wolf 6: Fabio Favaro 7: Gary Muenzel 8: Claude Poirier 9: Jeff Haas 10: Mike Wach Div 2 -427 (9 Commanders): David Sifford, Northwind Dragons (Boreas)(13h,52m) Div 3 -326 (15 Commanders): Darryl Proctor, Northwind Dragons (Boreas)(5m,10s) Div 4 -209 (18 Commanders): Sten Hugo Hiller, Star League (Cyberdon)(5h,4m) Div 5 -152 (11 Commanders): Whitney Averill, D.t.S.B. (Fext)(4m,9s) Div 6 -122 (16 Commanders): Sheila Hayes Fowler, Diamond Dragons (Boreas)(4h,57m) Div 7 92 (20 Commanders): Fredo Gustavo, Black Star Bandits (Boreas)(4m,3s) Div 8 -63 (22 Commanders): DamnWei, Murdermech mini (Spitfire)(3h,54m) Div 9 -34 (14 Commanders): Jeetaur, United Gamer`s Federation (Red Ant)(26m,20s) Total Contestants: 148 Total medals claimed: 124 (of 135 possible) Compared to the previous (Krampus) event, the participation was reduced by twenty. But the imbalance between the tops were less pronounced, so this time we actually had fewer unclaimed medals. Still, a total of eleven Bronzes from a trio of tops had to be returned for resmelting after the award ceremony. The biggest winner in this event was undoubdetly the Boreas. It won on five of the tops, -and got more than half of the Golds. None of the other models won more than one Gold, and the only standard model to get a win was the Red Ant. Here a big shoutout is probably in order for Jeetaur from the United Gamer`s Federation who won with his Ants on K9. Going up against Mech formations ranging from the hyper-fast 15 ton Anzu`s via the tough 40 ton Nephilax and insidious 50 ton Daemon to the fiery 70 ton Inferno, he still managed to come out on top despite the other Mechs huge advantages when it came to speed, armor and weapon loads. It might be a bit early in his career to suggest it, but a legendary pilot nomination is hereby forewarded. The last half-hour saw five Golds changing hands at least once, one of them decided just a couple seconds before the light flashed. The oher four Golds were all held for at least two hours. So it looks like we had some pretty close calls, and some very strong winners this time. Question is if the fighting for the rest of the prizes were less intense? To find out, we take a look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event: .............Silvers......Bronzes Div 1 ....0 of 4.........4 of 10 Div 2 ....4 of 4.........4 of 4 Div 3 ....0 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 4 ....4 of 4.........9 of 10 Div 5 ....2 of 4.........5 of 6 Div 6 ....3 of 4.........9 of 10 Div 7 ....1 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 8 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 9 ....2 of 4.........6 of 9 On two of the tops (K2 and K8) there were no successfull medal attacks at all. But we also had two tops (Mount Olympus and K3) where most of the medals ended in fresh hands. But overall, only 16 Silvers (44%) and seventeen Bronzes (22%) changed hands, well below the 56% turnover we had for the Golds. The only clan who managed to claim a double Gold this time were the Northwind Dragons. They stood tallest on K2 and K3. None of the unaligned Commanders managed to claim a Gold, neither did any of the Krampus winners manage to continue their winning streak. Upcoming event: King Chrono Here we finally get an event with no restrictions on what Mechs are legal, neither is numbers, positions or total tonnage a factor. But it is a Chrono, so sign up now, and get the formation ready ASAP if you want to compete for the (good) prizes.
