You learn such fascinating things about yourself when you hold yourself to a regular upload schedule, honestly!

So I have always known that during winter I'm not exactly at my peak. The lack of warmth and sunshine takes a toll on me even though I am not really an outdoors person. I just need those two around me to operate at a 100% (or even higher). But hey, I figured as I am working on the fancomic, it can't be that bad!

Oh, it's that bad.

Ignoring that already not-insignificant detail that I get sick at least a couple of times during winter which absolutely nuke my daily routines and energy levels, I'm definitely slower, I have a harder time starting, and overall, it is more of a miserable slog than the days of insane productivity I showed during summer. I know there is this thing called Seasonal Affective Disorder, but I'm definitely not down that bad. I am not even on the same planet as depression, so don't worry about me!

So will TTWF be actually ready by the  New Year? I am doing my best, but at this point I have no idea, honestly. XD It would be cool, tho!

Do you guys get affected by the seasons like this?

I'd like to add that Diablo 3 established angels in general are recognized by humanity as paragons, and Cain says all humans regardless of culture believe so (which might have been retconned in 4). Of note is the fact that most depictions of angels in 3 are on Zakarum propety, oddly enough. Evidence thereof is present within the Tristram Cathedral, which notably features a staines glass of Imperius

Kingdom of Westmarch also has a large depiction of Tyrael in one of its churches but I can't find a high-quality image. What I think is interesting is that Neyrelle in 4 seems completely unaware of who Tyrael is, despite his suposedly revered status. This led me to a headcanon that Zakarum acknowledges the five main angels, while Cathedral doesn't.

I drew a little clip inspired by the game's look "Guardian Angels".

I feel like Tyrael is constantly brushing up the favorability of humans, but because of The Reapers, the favorability of humans towards angels has decreased again (it did in D4), and I'm curious to see how the storyline will be set up in the future.

Got any Calia Headcanons, either based off the game or the AU you've made Queen in Exile. Dog or Cat person? What kind of behavioral quirks did she inherit from either parent (Does she fold her arms alot like her mom, or pace while thinking like her father?) Just some examples. 😀

I sadly haven't played any of the content with her in it, so these will all be based off QiE or book content.

She met her husband (named Avenall) before Terenas was charmed into the betrothal to Lord Prestor and was already in love with him at that point.

Once Prestor disappeared, Calia wanted to get married as soon as possible for fear of getting roped into another arrangement. Avenall was a little nervous about how fast things were going, but also was very much not interested in losing her to some random noble from Tyr's Hand or worse, Galen Trollbane *gag*

Calia's body double, Helen (thanks again for the name), is an actress who was trained in espionage after her recruitment. Helen dies in Calia's place, slain by ghouls along with nearly all of Calia's guards. Calia and a few disguised guards tried to escape with the palace servants, but Calia was separated from them in the chaos of Arthas' Betrayal.

Not a headcanon, but depending on how much time Arthas spends running around between Arthas' Betrayal and Trudging Through the Ashes (and how long that level itself takes) Calia has like, no time to reach Southshore before Archimonde crushes Dalaran

Avenall is a footman in Soutshore, and is there when Thrall raids it to save Grom and steal the ships. Thrall stops a Warsong Grunt from needlessly killing Avenall, which leads to a grudging respect for the warchief on Avenall's part.

Calia and Avenall named their daughter Mereldar, after the prophetess whose teachings would eventually become the Church of the Light.

The Light in QiE is prolly gonna be the same Light as in Diablo because I vibe with that. 5 tenants of the Light, 5 archangels of the Angiris Council (even if Imperius would have to have two virtues for warcraft and the Archangel of Fate isn't represented, at least in the Paladin side of things....)

Tyrael is a quoirose solarian who uses he/him pronouns! He is also auxlian and humanmore! Auriel is an aroace, lithosexual, romance neutral, queerplatonic artemian who uses she/her pronouns! She is also hopepunk and loveloose! She is in a queerplatonic relationship with Itherael, who is aroace, queerplatonic, agenderflux, dawnian, novarian, helian and genderqueer! They use they/he pronouns! Malthael is an aroace achellian, kenochoric, voidrian, helian and uses he/it pronouns!

I have the Diablo Book of Adria, which is an illustrated bestiary of creatures from Diablo 3. It includes everything from the lowliest scrub enemies all the way to the Lords of Hell and the Angiris Council. It is written from the perspective of Adria and includes her thoughts and footnotes on various topics. (Much like the Book of Lorath, only far less charming. 😬)

The illustrations are gorgeous. I really like this one of a necromancer and her golem. I was delighted that they included the pet "Half-Formed Golem". I adore him in D3 and he accompanied my necro everywhere.

Apparently Adria killed the necromancer. Because of course she did.

I'm going to try to post more pages from time to time.

Ishtarius and Tyrael Grew up together from Fledglinghood. While she was friend with both Tyrael and Inarius she has aways considered Tyrael to be her bestfriend even when Tyrael became an Archangel first and spent almost no time with her or his Twin. It was Tyrael who suggested to Malthael to make his sister Ishtarius into Archangel. Even thou they have hosts to look after they still find time to hang out with one another from catching up to playing their favorite game. Annoying Imperius thou Tyrael typically gets in more trouble then her with that game.

High Heavens Honing #5 - Decoration

For the final set up, we have... kinda everything. Trees, statues, vases, floor patterns, a random public altar (?) and a big-ass crystal that stands specifically in front of the Library of Fate. I wonder if all the centers of the Virtues get some kind of main decoration in front of them...

Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed these practice sketches of the High Heavens ^^ Now it is time to tackle the pages proper. Since those work up rather slowly, unfortunately, I'm gonna have to post other stuff in the meantime, with the occasional WIP progress updates. We will see how things go! But I thank you for your patience, and I do hope to see you at the finished comic!

OK I HAVE A CONCEPT!

bear with me i know this is going to be stupid as FUCK but just b e a r w i t h m e

Archangels and Demon lords are forced to play D&D together.

And the Nephalem is the DM running the whole thing, and its set in a semi modern world where their characters have to deal with shit like "they just got in a fight and now cant go to the hospital because they dont have insurance" and shit like that.

They are all forced to work together as a team to fight against a corrupt politician or something, but they are also dealing with weird modern problems like learning how to send an email or hotwire a fucking car.

here are some quotes from the initial conversation

"You can't buy that, Diablo. You don't have any coin." "How do I get coin?" "Get a job, mate." "Like what?" "Idk, barista?"

some other things:

Diablo's character would 100% die first and he would be mega salt about it, he always plays a Teifling (bc he wants to keep the horns)

Tyrael would play a Cleric, who the party relies on for healing bc none of their characters have Insurance to pay for hospital visits.

At the beginning of the campaign the DM has angels and demons on opposite sides of the table but by the end they are all mixed up and sitting together. He knows he did a good job when they beat a hard encounter and they all cheer and some of them even hug or highfive.

they're having a lot of fun but would never admit it outside of sessions.

in this senario half the party is fighting a mutant rat while the other is trying to figure out how to hotwire a car so they can run it over.

The Archangels and Anu

Stay a While and Listen...

A lore post detailing the Archangels of this particular AU, and their God, Anu. Cut for length.

Anu: God of the angels, father and mother both. Anu are a hivemind of organisms forming a massive winged pyrosome. Their origins are shrouded in mystery; all that's truly known about them is that they're the progenitor of the angels and that they dwell in the deep heart of the Silver City, guarding the Arch and the nesting grounds around it. They cherish their children deeply.

Archangel Inarius: The Aspect of Creation, Anu's First Note, Master of the Worldstone, Creator and Sculptor of Sanctuary. Such are Inarius' titles in this world, and he exercised them often. Unknown to many is that he also brought the Arch into being (although it was accidental). After the creation of land Inarius disappeared, never to be seen by his younger siblings again. Only Malthael knows the truth of his disappearance; the rest of the Council and all of angel-kind believe him either dead or lost in some form of madness.

Archangel Malthael: The Aspect of Death and Wisdom, Master of Chalad'ar, Keeper of the Soulstone. As with most of his siblings, Malthael is representative of two aspects: the Major Aspect of Death and the Lesser Aspect of Wisdom. Born with Death in his nature, he's never gone mad in this timeline and is in perfect control of himself and his powers. Mortals haven't touched Chalad'ar and muddied its depths, but he holds little fondness for them after witnessing their tendency to take more than their fair share of the ocean's bounty. He is very attentive to the needs of Heaven as a whole, aware of the potential for chaos to take them or for the demons to attack at any moment. The only one of the Archangels to see mortals as prey.

Archangel Itherael: Aspect of Fate, Reader of Talus'ar, Keeper of the Library of Fate, Oracle of the Heavens. Itherael may only have one aspect but Fate covers a wide spectrum of duties, and he is just as active as the others. Jellyfish-like in appearance, Itherael is known for their generally slow, almost hypnotising way of swimming. They're still very monotone, but have a tendency to fluoresce brightly when emotional. Retains his ability to manipulate space and time to teleport, an ability shared by their host. Finds humanity vaguely interesting since they can't see the Fates of mortals.

Archangel Auriel: Aspect of Love and Hope, Siren Supreme. Despite her lack of titles, Auriel is no less powerful than her siblings and commands perhaps the greatest respect of them all, due to her no-nonsense attitude towards wrangling the Council. Perfectly willing to force through necessary changes. Often accompanied by a small entourage of angels whenever she ventures into the open ocean. Al'maiesh in this world is a literal part of her, two long squid-like tentacles that hang from her head and reach most of the way down her body. She regards humanity with curiosity, as do many of her host.

Archangel Imperius: Aspect of War and Valor, Leader of the Armies of Heaven, Forgemaster of Heaven. Imperius is familiarly argumentative and stubborn to a fault, his spear Solarion always at the ready, and craves nothing more than a good fight. He's the master strategist of Heaven, but will take advice from Malthael and Auriel. Argues with Tyrael tirelessly, seeing such debates as a battle to be won. He shares Malthael's dislike of the mortals of Sanctuary, although he doesn't quite go so far as to declare them prey or to actively hunt them.

Archangel Tyrael: Aspect of Justice, Judge of Heaven, Lord of the Courts, Bearer of El'druin. He resides over the judgement of both angels who break the laws of Heaven and demonic prisoners with the assistance of representatives from each of the four Courts of Justice. He and Imperius argue over many topics. Smitten with humanity, Tyrael is known to often venture to the surface and walk amongst mortals - much to Malthael's distaste and secret fear.

I know it’s a long way before Diablo IV’s release, but if you had to guess, what are your theories on what happened to the Angiris Council? Is Tyrael still alive? Imperius still in command? Malthael returns? What do you guys think?

I strongly headcanon that angels convey most (if not all) emotion through their wings. Blizz actually confirmed they flutter their wings when happy, so I figured, why not a whole host of emotions?

Normal/resting position: Sorta based off of the way we see them in Wrath. They fold up and tuck back, out of the way. 

Aggression: Don’t mess with me I’m BIG! Angels poof out their wings to maximum fluffitude. Very serious business, usually means someone’s about to get their butt kicked. Also includes very intense glowing. The stronger the emotion is, the brighter the wings get - too the point where a highly excited angel can turn mortals blind. Tyrael is extremely upset about something here. 

Happiness: Anywhere from gentle wiggling to intense flapping. The difference between aggressive and happy: the movement. Angry angel’s wings tend to stay static and kinda stick out straight. Happy angels wings move all over the place. 

Fear: The main base of the wing folds down, kinda like a dog’s ears. The phalanges/tentacly bits of the wings will sorta wrap around the angel, like a protective shield or comfort blanket. They are also ready to snap forward at a moment’s notice - angel wings are very, very hot, and to touch one is to lose most of your hand, if not the whole arm. If it’s a very upset angel, getting touched by a tendril will most likely mean death. 

Curiosity/Confusion:  The bases tilt upwards, bringing the whole rest of the wing with it. The ‘wrists’ will point forward - again, like a dog’s ears when they’re highly focused on something. If they’re very confused, sometimes one wing will dip downward while the other lifts up. Like eyebrows!

Cozy Mode: Y’know that thing birds do when they’re real happy and content and sleepy? If not, do yourself a favor and look at pictures of fluffed up, sleepy birds (I recommend parakeets). But so, back to angels: when they’re feeling very relaxed and happy, they kinda turtle up in their armor and wrap their wings around themselves like a big tent. Very warm, very safe. 

Note: Do not attempt to spook a cozy angel. It won’t end well.

I’ll do a separate post on wing interactions, cuz I have a whole slew of thoughts for that.
