It’s so funny rewatching Spyfall, Part 1 and seeing the Master acting like Dora the Explorer or a video game NPC, dumping large amounts of exposition on the Doctor to prompt her towards figuring things out because it’s too boring to wait for her to come to the conclusions on her own. Literally the entire time he’s like:

“Why would they do that, Doctor? Why are they altering DNA, Doctor? What’s up with Barton? Is there anything I can do to help, such as firing up this machine you haven’t looked at but would presumably be really helpful?”

It must have been so frustrating for him to act like a sweet, nice human guy, a little bit of sass comes out when he asks if Graham’s just there for “the running commentary”, he even allows himself one sinister simile with “they’re stalking their prey, like animals…” because he’s getting through to the Doctor one way or another, Rassilon help him. Then finally in the third act he reveals himself so quickly, because he’s probably so tired of keeping up the act and seeing the Doctor fail to understand his scheme, he’s even providing a motivational “come on, you can do it” during his reveal as a final effort to get results. I just love it 😭.

the moment doctor who showrunners use the names theta and koschei on-screen is the day i can die peacefully. imagine an emotionally charged scene between the master and the doctor then suddenly one of them drops the academy nickname on the other. it can go 2 ways

either the other gets all "you don't get to use that name on me, they're dead." or they crumble over the name and just. Breaks Down™.
