Since ONE of you forgot to take Dante out of the freezer before mom got home, here’s a list of people based on how likely I think they are to save Dante
1. LADY
I mean. Come on. She’s been here the entire time and is still going through her redemption/character arc. I bet she’ll feel guilty abt forgetting Dante in the back of the freezer next to the peas and soup and get him out and they’ll go on the run.
2. VERGIL.
Also! Come on! He’d probably have heard smth or other about the son of sparda who killed the white rabbit and go ‘gotcha bitch’. It’d probably end with him thinking Dante would be a ok with a human genocide & they fight ending in a similar stance to DMC3.
3. TRISH.
Now, has she been introduced yet? No. Which is why I think it’s compelling that she’d be introduced by sneaking into DarkCom and breaking one freezer burned mf out. It would make sense given she is the third part of their little trip. Maybe added bonus if she’s working for Mundus and he wants his grubby hands on Dante & Trish does a DMC1.
4. NERO.
I don’t think Nero is coming for Dante. Because- given at the point of the story- Vergil hasn’t been around and so Nero isn’t even a sperm yet. So no, we probably will not get our demon handed bb boy anytime soon. At least not while Dante is chilling out.
5. LEON KENNEDY.
Now. I know what you’re saying ‘those are two completely different properties. They’re not going to be related.’ But I raise you: it’s probably apart of the same universe. Because of a lil fleck of ash l known as Raccoon City. Raccoon City exists in this continuity and Dante has been there before. So I think that it’s possible that the events of ResE have happened in this universe (or some form of the events bc the time in this universe is wacky). And I think Leon would be most likely, instead of someone like Chris or Jill or whoever. I highly doubt it’d happen, but wouldn’t it be funny?
Anyway please give us season 2 I am gnawing at the bars of my enclosure

Lady: Wait, what do you mean that kid is Vergil’s son?!
Dante: Exactly what you think it mean.
Lady: When did he even get the time to even-
Dante: I rather not think about that.
Lady: Well, how did he take it?
Dante: Take what?
Lady: The news! About his father?
Dante: Are you insane?! I’m not going to tell the poor kid anything about his family!
Lady: What?! He should know who his father is! Hell, he might think you’re his father!
Dante: And if that’s the case then I’ll step the hell up to the challenge, because that’s a better outcome then him finding out Vergil’s his father!
Lady: What?! Why?!
Dante: ‘Why?’ I don’t know, maybe because *imitates a casual voice* Hey Nero, it’s me, your uncle. That’s right, you’re the son of my brother, who you've never met before. He was a huge fan of genocide and killed thousands of people. Remember that one giant tower that appeared one day. You know, the one that spawned thousands of demons which killed nearly everyone in the city? That’s your old man. I killed him twice by the way.
Lady:……
Dante: Now how the hell do you expect the kid to act to news like that?
Lady:….okay, fair point.

Hot take: White Rabbit should've been Gilver instead.
Even though White Rabbit is an okay villain, his biggest flaw is not having any meaningful conflict with Dante beyond needing his amulet or whatever the fuck. This can easily be fixed by having him be Gilver, a character who is literally meant to be an alternate version of Dante's brother.
Vergil's willingness to serve under Mundus would make far more sense, whether you wanna go for the "Gilver is Mundus' recreation of Vergil" angle or the "Gilver is the real Vergil in disguise" angle
If we choose Gilver being a recreation, the whole "seeing a version of Vergil that isn't there" thing that was set up in the first episode would be far more impactful
If we choose Gilver being a disguise, we can actually bring back the original concept for Vergil from DMC1 and DMC2 where he was raised and indoctrinaged by Mundus
Whichever backstory you take, the extremist "humans bad demons good" ideology would still make sense given either context for Gilver
there was no point in White Rabbit being used as the main villain but not have Alice be brought in. she wasn't even used as like a plot point or a motivator she was just. alice was not there at all. what the hell. the whole point was them being references to Alice in Wonderland but. y. you can't just reference one thing but not the other like, YOU SEE WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS?

Righty oh, finished DMC season 1. T'was overall quite good though I have some criticisms which I shall lay out now.
-It's way more about Lady than Dante. In fact Dante feels like he had weirdly little to do in the story overall. He's basically a walking macguffin who the other characters fight over for most of the plot.
-There's too focus on the anti-demon paramilitary stuff which I'm just not a fan of.
-Extremely not good CGI elements that stick out like a sore thumb, though tragically that just seems more like a criticism of modern anime than of this particular project.
-It takes a lot of very wild liberties with the established story of the franchise and winds up going off in totally different directions by the end. Much of these changes I'm actually here for, I'd rather this adaptation do its own thing over just doing rehashing the plot of the games, but a few of them I just found stupid. Like trying to have there be a plausibly scientific explanation for all the demon stuff which is just ridiculous.
-It feels like it tries too hard in places to make Devil May Cry ABOUT something in a way I find distracting. Not that DMC didn't have themes before but these are Themes with a capital T that I kind of just think don't belong in this franchise.
All of which being said, I liked it quite a lot. It was consistently exciting & funny, it managed to include enough of the DMC goofiness while still shooting for a more dramatic tone and making it pretty much work and there's solid character building and emotional storytelling throughout. Plus Dante is Dante and Dante is great and that counts for a lot. I'm definitely down to see where the story goes next, especially after that batshit crazy ending.

Y'know, I talked about this a little bit, a few posts back, but the more I think about it, Devil May Cry's contradictory portrayal of demons has existed since the first game, and maybe the Netflix show wasn't in the wrong for having that same portrayal, just cranked up a notch.
Like, demons are always evil and bad and violent and murderous. Except for Dante. And Nero. And Trish. And Lucia.
So fuck why NOT make an entire civilian class of demon that proves the idea that demons feel a call to power and bloodshed wrong? Isn't it already wrong, just by nature of so many demons and demon-hybrids who struggle with a general set of anger issues but no actual murderous impulses?
Maybe it's just not a flaw, but an exploration of the actual message of Devil May Cry as a franchise: that having power means you will desire more power, but having a desire doesn't mean it has to be acted upon.

Vergil: Shit, I'm going to die like this. I'd better come up with a plan for clawing my survival back, and I need to act fast.
Vergil: (splits himself between Urizen and V)
V: Shit, I'm going to die like this. I'd better come up with a plan for clawing my survival back, and I need to act fast --
