God answers difficult questions
Where was God when this happened to me?: He was there—He sees everything (Prov. 15:3)
Didn't He care? Yes, He did and still does (Nah. 1:7; 1 Pet. 5:6, 7).
How could a loving God allow this to happen? God gave His creations freedom of choice. He did not make people like puppets (Deut. 30:15-20).
Does the Lord understand how I feel? Yes, more than anyone (Is. 53:3; Heb. 4:15).
Is recovery possible? With God all things are possible (Matt. 19:26). Yes, He wants to bring healing to you (Jer. 17:14).
How can I be healed? Trust God to be faithful to His Word (Ps. 18:25).
Where do I begin? God hears you— confess your hurt (Ps. 34:17, 18). Give your hurt to Him (1 Pet. 5:7). Forgive the one who has grieved you (Col. 3:13).
Isn't forgiveness difficult? Yes, but what God commands you to do, He will equip you to do (1 Thess. 5:24). Realize that God has forgiven you (Eph. 4:32). Recognize that forgiveness is not the same as reconciliation-the former is something you are called to do; the latter is something that requires the offender's repentance.
Then what do I do? Don't take revenge— God will deal with the violator (Rom. 12:19). Look ahead rather than being controlled by the past (Is. 43:18, 19). Look for the good that will come out of the bad (Rom. 8:28).
When will I heal? Healing of deep hurt takes time (Eccl. 3:3). It is a process of:
facing the harm (Ps. 51:6)
acknowledging your feelings (Eccl. 3:4-8)
applying God's truth from His Word (Ps. 107:20)
working with wise counselors and caring friends to deal with ongoing hurts

Yes, He Really Does Hold Your Life and Your Future in His Hands

by Kevin DeYoung
Q. What do you understand by the providence of God?
A. Providence is the almighty and ever present power of God by which he upholds, as with his hand, heaven and earth and all creatures, and so rules them that lead and blade, rain and drought, fruitful and lean years, food and drink, health and sickness, prosperity and poverty—all things, in fact, come to us not by chance but from his fatherly hand (Heidelberg Catechism Q/A 27).
This is my favorite Lord’s Day in the entire Catechism. I absolutely love its poetic description of providence. ”Sovereignty” is the word we hear more often. That’s a good word too. But if people run out of the room crying whenever you talk to them about sovereignty, try using the word “providence.” For some people God’s sovereignty sounds like nothing but raw, capricious power: “God has absolute power over all things and you better get used to it.” That kind of thing. And that definition is true in a sense, but divine sovereignty, we must never forget, is sovereignty-for-us. As Eric Liddel’s dad remarked in Chariots of Fire, God may be a dictator, but “Aye, he is a benign, loving dictator.”
Coming to grips with God’s all-encompassing providence requires a massive shift in how we look at the world. It requires changing our vantage point—from seeing the cosmos as a place where man rules and God responds, to beholding a universe where God creates and constantly controls with sovereign love and providential power.
The definition of providence in the Catechism is stunning. All things, yes all things, come to us not by chance but from his fatherly hand.” I will sometimes ask seminary students being examined for ordination, “How would the Heidelberg Catechism, particularly Lord’s Day 10, help you minister to someone who lost a limb in Afghanistan or just lost a job or just lost a child.” I am usually disappointed to hear students who should be affirming the confessions of their denomination shy away from Heidelberg’s strong, biblical language about providence. Like most of us, the students are much more at ease using passive language about God’s permissive will or comfortable generalities about God being “in control” than they are about stating precisely and confidently to those in the midst of suffering “this has come from God’s fatherly hand.” And yet, that’s what the Catechism teaches.
And more importantly, so does the Bible.
To be sure, God’s providence is not an excuse to act foolishly or sinfully. Herod and Pontius Pilate, though they did what God had planned beforehand, were still wicked conspirators (Acts 4:25-28). The Bible affirms human responsibility.
But the Bible also affirms, much more massively and frequently than some imagine, God’s power and authority over all things. The nations are under God’s control (Psalm 2:1-4; 33:10), as is nature (Mark 4:41; Psalm 135:7; 147:18; 148:8), and animals (2 Kings 17:25; Dan. 6:22;Matt. 10:29). God is sovereign over Satan and evil spirits (Matt. 4:10; 2 Cor. 12:7-8; Mark 1:27). God uses wicked people for his plans—not just in a “bringing good out of evil” sort of way, but in an active, intentional, “this was God’s plan from the get-go” sort of way (Job 12:16; John 19:11; Gen. 45:8; Luke 22:22; Acts 4:27-28). God hardens hearts (Ex. 14:17;Josh. 11:20; Rom. 9:18). God sends trouble and calamity (Judg. 9:23; 1 Sam. 1:5; 16:14; 2 Sam. 24:1; 1 Kings 22:20-23; Isa. 45:6-7; 53:10; Amos 3:6; Ruth 1:20; Eccl. 7:14). God even puts to death (1 Sam. 2:6, 25; 2 Sam 12:15; 2 Chr. 10:4, 14; Deut. 32:39). God does what he pleases and his purposes cannot be thwarted (Isa. 46:9-10; Dan. 4:34-35). In short, God guides all our steps and works all things after the counsel of his will (Prov. 16:33; 20:24; 21:2; Jer. 10:23; Psalm 139:16; Rom. 8:21; Eph. 1:11).
It’s worth noting that Lord’s Day 10 is explaining what the Apostles’ Creed means when it says, “I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.” If God is the creator of all things and truly almighty, then he must continue to be almighty over all that he has created. And if God is a Father, then surely he exercises his authority over his creation and creatures for the good of his beloved children. Providence is nothing more than a belief in “God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth” brought to bear on our present blessings and troubles and buoying our hope into the future.
You can look at providence through the lens of human autonomy and our idolatrous notions of freedom and see a mean God moving tsunamis and kings like chess pieces in some kind of perverse divine play-time. Or you can look at providence through the lens of Scripture and see a loving God counting the hairs on our heads and directing the sparrows in the sky so that we might live life unafraid. “What else can we wish for ourselves,” Calvin wrote, “if not even one hair can fall from our head without his will?” There are no accidents in your life. Nothing has been left to chance. Every economic downturn, every phone call in the middle of the night, every oncology report has been sent to us from the God who sees all things, plans all things, and loves us more than we know.
As children of our Heavenly Father, divine providence is always for us and never against us. Joseph’s imprisonment seemed pointless, but it makes sense now. Slavery in Egypt makes sense now. Killing the Messiah makes sense now. Whatever difficulty or unknown you may be facing today, it will make sense someday–if not in this life, then certainly in the next.
We all have moments where we fear what the future may hold. But such fears are misplaced if we know the one who holds the future. The fact of the matter is all my worries may come true, but God will never be untrue to me. He will always lead me, always listen to me, and always love me in Christ. God moves in mysterious ways; we may not always understand why life is what it is. But we can face the future unafraid because we know that nothing moves, however mysterious, except by the hand of that great Unmoved Mover who moves all and is moved by none, and that this Mover is not an impersonal force but the God who is my Father in heaven.

Nisto Cremos
(II Pedro 1:20 e 21; II Tim. 3:16 e 17; Sal. 119:105; Prov. 30:5 e 6; Isa. 8:20; João 10:35; 17:17; I Tess. 2:13; Heb. 4:12). 2. (Deut. 6:4; 29:29; Mat. 28:19; II Cor. 13:13; Efés. 4:4-6; I Pedro 1:2; I Tim. 1:17; Apoc. 14:6 e 7). 3. Deus Pai Deus, O Eterno Pai, é o Criador, o Originador, o Mantenedor e o Soberano de toda a criação. Ele é justo e santo, compassivo e clemente, tardio em irar-Se, e grande em constante amor e fidelidade. (Gên. 1:1; Apoc. 4:11; I Cor. 15:28; João 3:16; I João 4:8; I Tim. 1:17: Êxo. 2:5-11; I Cor. 15:3 e 4; Heb. 2:9-18; 4:15; 7:25; 8:1 e 2; 9:28; João 14:1-3; I Ped. 2:21; Apoc. 22:20). Ver vídeo (Realvideo 3 minutos).
(Apoc. 12:4-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Ezeq. 28:12-18; Gên. 3; Gên. 6-8; II Pedro 3:6; Rom. 1:19-32; 5:19-21; 8:19-22; Heb. 1:4-14; I Cor. 4:9). 9. (João 3:16; Isa. 53; II Cor. 5:14, 15 e 19-21; Rom. 1:4; 3:25; 4:25; 8:3 e 4; Filip. 2:6-11; I João 2:2; 4:10; Col. 2:15).

“For in the book of Numbers (31:17) we read that after a battle against the Midianites, while still under the leadership of Moses and Aaron, the Israelites were told: ‘Kill every male dependant, and kill every woman who has had intercourse with a man, but spare for yourselves every woman among them who has not had intercourse.’ In Num. 31:32-35, we read a list of the spoils and war booty taken by the Israelites at this same battle. In this order, they list sheep, cattle, asses and ‘thirty-two thousand girls who had no intercourse with a man.’
In the book of Deuteronomy, also preceding the command of Joshua, we find:
When you wage war against your enemy and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands and you take some of them captive, then if you see a comely woman among the captives and take a liking to her, you may marry her. You shall bring her into your house, where she shall shave her head, pare her nails, and discard the clothes she had when she was captured. Then she shall stay in your house and mourn her father and mother for a full month. After that you may have intercourse with her; you shall be her husband and she your wife. But if you no longer find her pleasing let her go free. You must not sell her, nor treat her harshly, since you have had your will with her [Deut. 21:10-14].
Though once again the numbers may have been somewhat exaggerated, these passages suggest that many of the women who were later known as the wives of the Israelites may well have been the girls who witnessed the murders of all their families and friends and the destruction of their homes and towns. The combination of the fear and trauma they must have felt, having been taken into the Hebrew tribes in this way, along with their memories of their childhood customs and religions must have made their attitude and position in Hebrew life a most difficult one. Though the number of women in the Hebrew tribes is never listed, these passages also suggest that when the Hebrews first left Egypt there may have been a much greater percentage of men. Each of these factors may help to explain the Hebrew women's ‘acceptance’ of the new patriarchal laws.”

A link to my personal reading of the Scriptures
for the 22nd of february 2025 with a paired chapter from each Testament (the First & the New Covenant) of the Bible
[The Letter of 2nd Corinthians, Chapter 4 • The Book of 1st Chronicles, Chapter 19]
along with Today’s reading from the ancient books of Proverbs and Psalms with Proverbs 22 and Psalm 22 coinciding with the day of the month, accompanied by Psalm 64 for the 64th day of Astronomical Winter, and Psalm 53 for day 53 of the year (with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 1st revolution this year)
A post by John Parsons:
Love’s Promised Healing...
In his famous "Sermon on the Mount" (Matt. 5:1-7:29), Yeshua revealed the inner condition of the heart, despite the various pretenses that people may contrive to evade the truth.... "You have heard that it was said, "Do no murder," but I say to you, harbor no anger; you have heard "do no adultery," but I say to you harbor no lust..." You have heard it said, "Do not break an oath," but I say to you swear no oath at all, but let your word be enough.
Yeshua brings the Torah inside, to the heart, to reveal our great need. A person who makes an oath assumes he can keep the law, that he can control the impulses and sickness of his own deceptive heart. That is the source of the problem (Jer. 17:9; Eccl. 9:3; Mark 7:21). The Lord reveals what we are inside so that we may realize our need for deliverance from ourselves. What we really need is a miracle on the order of splitting the sea or raising the dead, namely, a new heart (לֵב חָדָשׁ) and a new spirit (רוּחַ חֲדָשָׁה) put within us. For those of you who might struggle with pride, fear, anger, lust, and hardness of heart, please take hold of hope. God can turn "stone to flesh" and make you fully alive by His power.
The heart (lev) is the inner person, the seat of the emotions, thought, and will. A new heart (lev chadash) represents the transformation of the whole of your inner nature - with the impartation of new appetites, new passions, new desires, etc. (Psalm 51:10). A new spirit (ruach chadashah) implies the renewal of your inner life – the rebirth of your will. This is the “law of the Spirit” (תוֹרַת רוּחַ הַחַיִּים) and the new principle of eternal life (Rom. 8:2).
The “stony heart” (lev ha’even) represents unfeeling, self-serving numbness of being. This heart is the locus of "yetzer hara," the inner selfish impulse that is the common heritage of the “natural man.” The Targum renders this as, "I will break the heart of the wicked, which is hard as a stone.'' A hard heart has a form of "sclerosis" that makes it closed off and impermeable to love from others, and especially from God. Scripture uses various images to picture this condition, including a "heart of stone" (Ezek. 36:26, Zech. 7:12), an "uncircumcised heart" (Jer. 9:26), a "stiff neck" (Deut. 31:27), and so on. Stubbornness is really a form of idolatry, an exaltation of self-will that refuses to surrender to God.
The heart of flesh (lev basar) represents an inner life of genuine feeling and joy that makes a fit habitation for the radiance of the Divine Presence. After all, the word for “grace” (χάρις) is directly linked to the word for “joy” (χαρά). This heart is soft and tender - a spiritual and sanctified heart - that is submissive to the will of God. It is upon the inner “tablets” of this heart that the Torah of God truly written (Jer. 31:33).
There aren't two gospel messages: one for the sinner and the other for the saint... The message of the gospel is always "good news" to those who are sin-sick and riddled with guilt and shame, and it is always "bad news" for those who deny their inner condition before God and believe that they can justify themselves. In other words, there's no "gospel" message apart from the message of the cross of Yeshua, and the cross represents the end of the ego and its devices. We don't get saved in order to follow the path of self-righteousness; we get saved to be witnesses of God's righteousness... We love God because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).
May it please God to give us all soft hearts and renewed spirits that are empowered to love in the truth and to walk before His Presence... May He perform a divine "heart transplant" so that we may feel the heartbeat of the Spirit within us. Amen.

Amen

REVEALING THE NAME ABOVE ALL
Chosen disciples are equipped with the gift of the Holy Spirit through personally believing God's Living Word who was sent to reveal the meaning of the LORD's Holy Name; being Christlike, we are declaring it to every person in praises as we spread the Good News of Salvation to the reach of all lacking knowledge of the Truth (Ps. 22:22, Rom. 1:17). We shouldn't discriminate against anyone, knowing that each soul belongs to our Creator, for our Calling in Christ is keeping hold of and making known His redeeming grace to the lost and broken-hearted so that, by receiving the Gospel we also received, they may be delivered out of ignorance and included in the Body of Christ (Ezek. 18:4, Luke 5:32, John 6:37).
Moreover, our Heavenly Father is the reason for our existence; for, without Him, we are nothing, yet He gave us a mouth filled with Holy words and at His order, as the Light of the World, declaring His presence is our responsibility (Deut. 18:18, Mat. 5:14). So let's do it with love for all created in the image of God, then we will remain fulfilled, graciously deserving of His Kingdom as co-heirs with Christ (Rom. 18:4, Phil. 1:21).
PRAYER: In Jesus' Name, thank You, Heavenly LORD and Gracious Father, for making me a channel of Your everlasting Word, revealing Your Divine identity to many individuals in Your favor. Please, keep me equipped and motivated to endlessly proclaim Your Salvation to humankind so that, as they receive the Truth in Your Holy Name, select souls may be redeemed,
Amen.

Compassion of the Father, Jesus and us.
Compassion is a part of the character of God. God's compassion flows out of his love, grace and mercy towards us. We should also have compassion on people out of love for them.
Deut 13:17 [World English Bible] Nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to your hand, that Yahweh may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion on you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers…
Deut 30:3 [WEB] that then Yahweh your God will release you from captivity, have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the peoples where Yahweh your God has scattered you.
Deut 32:36 [WEB] For Yahweh will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone; that there is no one remaining, shut up or left at large.
1Kgs 8:50 [WEB] and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions in which they have transgressed against you; and give them compassion before those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them…
2Kgs 13:23 [WEB] But Yahweh was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect for them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, and he didn’t cast them from his presence as yet.
2Chr 36:15 [WEB] Yahweh, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place…
Ps 103:13 [WEB] Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.

(via Limping. . .)
Limping. . .
Crooked tongues falsehoods spin as deadly threads until trap is spun by deceitfulness led. Limping upon "two opinions" leads not to endless life, but utmost dread; since gravedom calls out by hunger fed: "The Grave and the place of destruction are never satisfied". Prov. 27:20. *** “How long will you be limping between two different opinions? Or “on two crutches.” If Jehovah is the true God, follow him; but if Baʹal is, follow him!” 1 Kings 18:21. You cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons; you cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons. Or ‘are we inciting Jehovah to jealousy’? We are not stronger than he is, are we?" 1 Cor. 10:21. *** "They have incited me to fury with what is not a god; They have offended me with their worthless idols. So I will incite them to jealousy with what is not a people; I will offend them with a foolish nation." Deut. 32:21. “I have let myself be searched for by those who did not ask for me; I have let myself be found by those who did not look for me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’ to a nation that was not calling on my name. I have spread out my hands all day long to a stubborn people, To those walking in the way that is not good, Following their own thoughts; A people who constantly offend me to my face". Isa. 65:1-3. *** "So I ask, They did not stumble and fall completely, did they? Certainly not! But by their false step, there is salvation to people of the nations, to incite them to jealousy." "I do not want you to be unaware of this sacred secret, brothers, so that you do not become wise in your own eyes: A partial dulling of senses has come upon Israel until the full number of people of the nations has come in, and in this manner all Israel will be saved. Just as it is written:
“The deliverer will come out of Zion
and turn away ungodly practices from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them, when I take their sins away.” True, with respect to the good news, they are enemies for your sakes; but with respect to God’s choosing, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are not things he will regret. For just as you were once disobedient to God but have now been shown mercy because of their disobedience, so also these now have been disobedient with mercy resulting to you, so that they themselves may also now be shown mercy. For God has confined all of them together in disobedience so that he might show all of them mercy. "O the depth of God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable his judgments are
and beyond tracing out his ways are! For “who has come to know Jehovah’s mind, or who has become his adviser?” Or, “who has first given to him, so that it must be repaid to him?” Because from him and by him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen." Rom. 11:11;25-36.

Prov. 6:12-15:
12 A useless and wicked man walks about with crooked speech;
13 He winks with his eye,j signals with his foot, and motions with his fingers.
14 With a perverted heart,
He is always scheming evilk and spreading contentions.
15 Therefore, his disaster will come suddenly;
In a moment he will be broken beyond healing.
16 There are six things that Jehovah hates;
Yes, seven things that he detests:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,o and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart plotting wicked schemes, and feet that run quickly to evil,
19 A false witness who lies with every breath,
And anyone sowing contentions among brothers. © 1 hour ago, Lucretia McCloud

Mattana Ministry
Welcomes You To:
Daily Bible Study: 8 June 2024
Theme: Book of 2 Kings (6)
Scripture: 2 Kings 17;
2 Kings 18; 2 Kings 19; Deut. 32:4; Rom. 3:23;
Rom. 8:13 & 1 Thes.5:23
Message:
JUSTIFIED AND SANCTIFIED
“You are a perfectionist,” this is the word that is said to someone who wants everything to be in order, neat, precise, and done to a high standard. It is true that if we have a perfectionist person around us, we could have everything in order. Their house and office would be in clean and neat condition. However, we will also be stressed if we have to deal with perfectionists.
Our God is perfect. He has His standards, for example in holiness. None will be able to achieve God’s standards. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
Give thanks to the Lord that our God is not only a perfect God but also a just God. Because of His justice, He forgives us through the sacrifice of His only Son, Christ, so that we are justified and sanctified. We are made worthy to come before Him, the holy God, because without holiness we are not able to meet Him.
Is it easy to live in righteousness and holiness? Of course not! We are still struggling with our flesh. So, how to overcome this? Romans 8:13 says that by the Spirit we could put to the death the misdeeds of the body. God has given us His Holy Spirit. Our part is to commit to living in righteousness and holiness.
May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify us through and through. May our whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (I Thes 5: 23).

Earl K. Oldham was J. Frank Norris’s successor. But here he’s saying the quiet parts out loud:
Dr. E. K. Oldham, minister of the Calvary Baptist Church, recently took a strong stand for continued segregation in all phases of society.
Dr. Oldham, who also is an instructor at Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, declared segregation is "the will of God" and urged "every Bible believer to make protest against desegregation."
He spoke to a capacity audience during his congregation's regular evening services.
"That God is no respecter of persons does not mean that He has not authorized a distinction of position and functions among the races in social, civil, and religious life," the minister asserted.
He declared that public schools and other social advantages are "not the real issue" in the integration problem. Inter-marriage is the end goal of integrationists, he said.
Dr. Oldham commended a similar stand taken by Dr. W. A. Criswell, minister of the Southern Baptist First Baptist Church in Dallas.
He criticized, however, Southern Baptists for what he called "rubber stamping" the 1954 Supreme Court ruling in favor of integration.
"Sunday school literature is now advocating the merging of the races,' he maintained.
"A Cry Needed"
"There of necessity needs to be a cry made," Oldham emphasized. He called on all ministers to take a stand on the race issue.
"The tremendous problem that confronts us now is because pastors have not and will not take a public stand," He said.
He criticized "the new Bible" (Revised Standard Version) for being changed to emphasize the "fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of all men."
"All men are not brothers," Dr. Oldham commented after the sermon.
Dr. Oldham emphasized several scriptures in building his point that segregated races are the intent of God.
He pointed out that descendants of Ham, one of Noah's sons, were "segregated to a position of servitude" (Gen 9:24-27).
Boundaries Set
And he emphasized that God appointed "bounds of habitation" for the various races (Deut. 32:8 and Acts 17:26). He also stressed the Tower of Babel, stating that the variance in languages instituted at that time was a divine means of segregation.
"God can restrict positions and functions in human society without being a respecter of persons. . . . Not all men are born equal," the minister asserted.
Dr. Oldham told the audience, however, that "there is no respect of persons in regard to salvation. . . . God will save the black, the brown, the white, and the yellow."

Nisto Cremos
(Gên. 1:26-28; 2:15; Ageu 1:3-11; Mal. 3:8-12; Mat. 23:23; I Cor. 9:9-14). 22.
