Art References for Chapter One of underneath the sunrise (show me where your love lies)
(aka this is the nerdiest thing I've done for this fandom)
Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, c. 1560
"Monty didn’t know what it felt like to fly through the air, the wind between your wings, the sun kissing your skin, until now. He didn’t know what it felt like for the wax to burn away and melt itself into your skin, searing your flesh, until now.
And he didn’t know why anyone would risk such a thing until now.
Until them."
The Two Fridas, Frida Kahlo, 1939
"How the fuck is Monty supposed to reply when he finally has the thing that he’s ached for so long and he can’t even enjoy it? When his heart is ratcheting up his throat, a ticking time bomb that Frida Kahlo would adore?"
Garden of Earthly Delights, Hieronymous Bosch, 1490-1510
"Monty is being torn apart in the hell panel of the Garden of Earthly Delights. He is some abomination that Bosch dreamed up to fill the inferno, to be tortured for all eternity, because both of the only two things that Monty has ever loved are being ripped from his trembling fingers by his mother and used against him, just because she can’t handle the fact that he wanted something, anything, to call his own."
Textiles of South Asia (Fictional Exhibit, but here are photos of the clothing in question)
"But mostly, Monty spent his time drinking in Edwin’s knowledge, the way that that he went into professor-mode when explaining the symbolism behind certain artworks. Monty devoured the bits about artwork that Charles knew about, like a discussion in the Textiles of Southern Asia special exhibit where Monty had the privilege of seeing Charles get excited explaining the differences and purposes of lehengas and saris and sherwanis. The way that though they were surrounded by masterpieces, all Monty could stare at is the two muses in the middle of the room, holding hands, more breathtakingly beautiful than any of the painting surrounding them."
Lehenga
Sari (Maharashtraian sari)
Sherwani (Painting of the last Nizam of Hyderabad)
Snow Storm, J. M. W. Turner, 1842
"His fingers catch under Monty’s jaw, guiding Monty’s mouth to his like a brushstroke of lightning hitting the mast of a J. M. W. Turner ship, all storm, all sensation"
I will post another archival set for chapter 2- we've got plenty more coming!

Cross (2024 - )
Series adaptation of James Patterson novels about the complicated and brilliant detective, Alex Cross.
A really good show (though it does have some gory scenes) that I binge-watched over one weekend. Aldis Hodge, who plays Alex Cross, is excellent casting, as he perfectly embodies how I imagined Alex Cross while reading a couple of Patterson's novels a few years ago. You cannot help but root for him. I also appreciated how contemporary issues about the police, and a famous case (see if you can work it out when you watch the series) were raised in this series. I also enjoyed the bromance between Alex Cross and his best friend Detective John Sampson. I recommend it. Check it out!
P.S. Alex Cross's house is very beautiful. Many times I was distracted by the beautiful interiors of his house.

CHAPTER 1 - Man Door Hand Nail Fur Door (Comic)
...aka the Zilara manifesto.
(tw: strangulation, suggestive themes) BOBA AU MASTERPOST: [link]
Yakou tells Yuma to go to the hotel and corral all the other detectives who have been sleeping soundly in the nice fancy rooms over there. Yuma, who got 3 hours of sleep on Yakou's creaky couch, says "Okay, sure thing, Dad." ((side note - wouldn't the train detectives have had rooms reserved at the hotel? Couldn't Yuma have had one of those?))
Instead of agreeing to meet up, they all send poor little Kokohead around the city doing side quests.
Pucci wants to know if Kanai Ward has any good symphonies; recordings of classical music are all well and good, but it's no substitute for the acoustics of a live concert hall. Closest thing Yuma can find is Aetheria Academy's chamber orchestra program. Musicians in Kanai Ward used to be part of a larger regional symphonic orchestra, but since Amaterasu locked off the city, they've had to resort to busking. Pucci seems disappointed, but resigns herself to checking out the high school girls' next concert anyway.
Aphex is cruisin' for a bruisin'. He spotted some suspicious movement in one of the districts on his radar (drug deals?), but every time he goes to check it out, he can't find out which people in the crowd are the suspicious ones. They must be afraid of Aphex's intimidating appearance, so Yuma goes in his stead to grill the people hanging around the square. Turns out they weren't dealing drugs, they were passing around anti-Amaterasu propaganda. They beg Yuma not to tell Aphex. Yuma goes back to the hotel to tell Aphex... who thinks anti-fascist action is cool, actually, so no need to do anything about those guys.
Melami wants to know about the local fashion scene, and is very curious about the dronebrellas she's seen around Kanai Ward. She sends Yuma to see what the big deal about them is, and once there, he gets roped into a long winding sales pitch for technology he can't afford. He relays as much of this as he can remember back to Melami, but once she hears they only come in one color, she decides she's not interested. What's the point if you can't customize it? Just get a regular umbrella. Or a rain coat. That's a much better way to show off your personality! Yuma tries not to scream about how much time he just wasted.
Zange shows Yuma a picture he took (with his mind) of a specific location in Kanai Ward, but can't quite remember where it was. Yuma has to go on a scavenger hunt to find the place that matches the picture and tell Zange how to get there. Zange assigns Yuma a numerical score based on how long it took him complete the quest (which is always too slow). This will be a repeatable quest/minigame with different locations every time.
As Yuma is about to leave the hotel, Zilch stops him. He offers a more formal introduction (since, you know, they didn't actually meet aboard the train) and volunteers (insists) to accompany the poor useless trainee as a senior detective, to show him how it's done.
Zilch has four animal companions with him at the moment: three caged mice and a dog named Bosch.
He doesn't seem to treat them very kindly, though. He isn't careful handling the mice's cage, and he orders Bosch around like one would speak to Alexa.
Anyway, Zilch and Yuma go look for the last remaining detective, Halara Nightmare. Canon ensues.
They run into The Boy and accept the quest to investigate the Nail Man murders. Halara needs some convincing.
At the church, Zilch makes a new friend, or so he thinks.
Zilch tactlessly asks the nun if her ears are natural or not, and starts bragging about how well his own surgery went. For the ears and tail, that is. The Nun doesn't like Zilch's attitude one bit. She watches him use his mice for spying and gets freaked out. The nun threatens to kill Zilch but he doesn't think she's serious.
Zilch says that he didn’t expect there to be a Metal Fox Church here, of all places. Yuma asks him to elaborate, and he says they’re a denomination that exists elsewhere in the world. The church near where he grew up was much larger and more spectacular than this one. The Metal Fox is a deity known for its fortitude and cunning, that offers protection from “hunters,” or persecution of any kind. Zilch doesn’t seem to believe in its teachings at all. #atheistpride
Meanwhile, the dog, Bosch, sniffs around and seems agitated by something. He can place the smells of all the church NPCs around the scene, but there's something else, too. Zilch barks the order - literally - for Bosch to track whichever scent doesn't belong, and the dog goes off on a solo mission.
Zilch has a plan to catch the Nail Man red-handed, but he won't tell what it is yet. He needs to prepare some stuff. So in the meantime, Yuma and Halara hold hands at several different crime scenes.
While Shinigami keeps blabbing about stripping detectives, Halara fucks off to who knows where and Yuma returns to the church to meet with Zilch. Zilch leads Yuma to the nearby woods and reveals his master plan to lure out the Nail Man by taking a doll with a slip of paper on it to the forest, and writing the name of someone for the Nail Man to kill...
"Yuma Kokohead," of course.
Yuma is terrified of being used as bait, but Zilch promises he'll intervene before the Nail Man can actually kill him, it'll be fine. So Yuma the pushover gets tied to a tree...
Halara unmasks the cloaked figure to reveal the priest of the Metal Fox Church, as they suspected. The priest begs for mercy - he was only trying to protect the people of Kanai Ward by purging it of corruption (and letting an innocent man take the fall for it)...!
Yuma thinks he might not have to rely on Shinigami's powers this time, but then...
Bosch leads them back to the church where Seth and his Peacekeepers are threatening Yakou.
And with that… it’s Mystery Labyrinth time!
Zilch’s voice is back to normal inside the Labyrinth. He seems oddly relaxed around Shinigami - because he insists this is not real and actually a dream. #atheist4lyfe
Yuma deduces that Zilch's name was written in the woods by the nun. She witnessed Zilch’s mistreatment of his animal companions and tactless assholery - but the thing that pushed it into murder territory was actually her recognizing the crest of the Alexander family on his fur coat. The full truth comes to light - the Alexanders have been known for generations as prolific trophy hunters. They “live alongside nature,” sure, but it’s a heavily controlled and subdued “nature.” This is antithetical to everything the Metal Fox Church stands for, so the nun, devout to her faith, believed Zilch to be an invasive threat to their way of life, and the peace of Kanai Ward.
And, since this revelation is taking place in the Mystery Labyrinth, of COURSE she gets a cool Mystery Phantom.
The gang also, like, solves the actual mystery.
Then once they find all the evidence they unmask the true culprit and his copycat, and the Priest's and Worshipper's souls are reaped.
Zilch is horrified. Somehow he didn't expect this was actually going to affect reality. Shinigami assures him that he won't remember any of the Mystery Labyrinth anyway, so...
Aaaaand eventually they do leave the Labyrinth. Halara is back to their usual steely exterior.
The masked priest in front of them drops to the floor dead. A scream from the church can be heard, presumably because the worshipper has just done the same. They go to check it out.
Then… Yomi shows up. He intimidates the group and doesn’t seem to deem any of the detectives worth his attention… until he notices Zilch.
Shinigami wonders if he recognized the Alexander family crest... but Yuma makes the connection and realizes Yomi might have had some sort of connection to the impostor on the train. That's pretty scary to think about. Was this the guy who tried to kill off all the Master Detectives coming into Kanai Ward? He seems dangerous...
Good thing Yomi has a devoted right hand to play around with. In front of everyone.
But anyway, regarding the Nail Man situation, Yomi decides to throw Seth under the bus, and punish him accordingly.
Bye Seth! Or should I say... Steve. :noes:
After his near-death experience, Zilch has a change of heart and decides he doesn't need a fur coat after all (seeing as it almost got him killed). Halara accepts it as payment for their services solving the case.... at least Zilch's half of it - Yuma still owes them a small fortune.
And with that the day is saved. Yuma plays a bit of baseball. Halara has a comfy new bed for their beloved strays. And Zilch... has a lot to think about.

HELLO BOBA FANS!!! Thanks for your patience waiting for this update! I hope you can tell I've been working on this very hard (in between assignments for cartoon college)! The post didn't even fit all the images I made for this chapter - I'll be sure to post the other ones separately. At some point.
This chapter was an interesting challenge to write, trying to hammer down Zilch's character - how to make him distinct from his impersonator, but similar enough to lend credit to the impersonator. It took a while but I think I've finally landed on a solid backstory. I'll be posting more about him in the next installment of Boba AU - Zilch's Gumshoe Gabs. Then after that will be Chapter 2! Super excited to rub my gay little hands all over that one.
If you've made it this far, thank you so much for reading! If you liked this, then please... I beg of you... draw me some Zilara ;_;

2023 TUMBLR LITTLEST MEOW MEOW COMPETITION ROUND 3: Harry Hole
Harry Hole (the surname pronounced as "HOO-leh"), whose name translates to "Harry Hill" in English and is also called "Harry Holy" by allies in the Australian police force,[1] is the main character in a series of crime novels written by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø.[2] The name is derived from Old Norse Hólar, the plural form of hóll, meaning "round and isolated hill." Harry's surname is also the name of a historic Norwegian town (Hole, Norway) with a heritage that goes back to the Viking Age.
In his stories, Hole is a brilliant, introverted, and obsessively driven detective. He has few friends and often clashes with colleagues, but his work and skill are so widely known and respected that he is considered a specialist, leading him to sometimes consult on cases in other cities and countries.[1][3] Throughout the novels, he sometimes uses unorthodox and illegal methods in his investigations. A common focus of the novel series is Hole's struggles with alcoholism and depression, as well as how his mental health suffers as a result of his morally questionable actions and the brutal nature of the crimes he investigates. The novel series eventually shows Hole recognizing the harmful nature of his work and increasingly problematic behavior, prompting him to leave the police force.[4] Despite this, later novels show Hole continually finding reason to return to Oslo and assist new criminal investigations, despite his own initial reluctance and the protests of his loved ones.[5][6]
Critics liken the personality of Harry Hole to those of the famous literary detectives such as Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Jules Maigret, and Nero Wolfe.[7] According to Jo Nesbø himself, the character is inspired by and a tribute to Michael Connelly's character Harry Bosch. The novels are frequent bestsellers.[8][9]

60 Sec Rec: Halt and Catch Fire
I'm going to borrow from a Vox article for the summary and a reason to watch:
"[...] originally set up the series as a conventional antihero drama about the sneering, self-proclaimed genius Joe Macmillan, who hijacks a small Texas computer manufacturer in the early 1980s and tries to get it to build his dream machine. He’s joined in this by two computer whizzes who can do the work while Joe offers the Steve Jobs-style bravado — Gordon Clark and Cameron Howe. These early episodes struggled to stand out from the glut of other antihero dramas rattling around in the 2010s. Yet they’re also necessary for setting up the series’ larger idea, which is that Joe might think he’s a genius, but the thing he really needs is to be tempered and improved by the people around him." [Vox]
"It also absolutely nails a tone that’s tricky to manage: optimism, tempered with a sense of how hard it is to accomplish anything with real meaning in this world." [Vox]
This show is a stand-out for the way it focuses on its characters and their relationships. Very rarely have I seen a show that lets all its protagonists be brilliant, and assholes, and sad, and flawed, much less one that lets them not just evolve but change their dynamics. Their arguments make sense, you can see why they're drawn to each other and also why they fight.
It has some scenes that will have you teary-eyed even if you're not a crier, because they're just so... they feel so real, so true.
Created by Christopher Cantwell and Christipher C. Rogers (Paper Girls, Lodge 49). Written by the showrunners, plus Jamie Pachino (Chicago PD, Fairly Legal), Zack Whedon (Southland, Fringe), Jason Cahill (Fringe, The Sopranos), Mark Lafferty (White Collar). Directed by Juan José Campanella (Law & Order SVU), Karyn Kusama (In Treatment, Yellowjackets), Daisy von Scherler Mayer (Yellowjackets, Bosch). Starring Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishé, Mackenzie Davis, Toby Huss, Annabeth Gish, ... Kathryn Newton (10 eps).

Primal - Ch.30 ~AU Predator (Franchise)~
I was aggressively escorted to a room with only a table and chairs. My mouth was throbbing from pain, but I would bare it. I would bare it for as long as I needed to. There was a large glass window to my left. Miles was watching that much was sure.
I looked down in deep thought, feeling something in the pit of my stomach, literally. I felt a gentle tingling moving from my stomach and into my chest and thighs down to my toes all the way to my brain and hair.
What did they do to me! Did they poison me! I felt more fear grow in me as tears started to swell down my cheeks. They did it! This is how they would kill me. It’s a slow death so they could get information out of me before the deed happens. This tingling would turn into pain I was sure of it!
Normal POV
Col. Miles Vallelonga watched his suspect through the two-way mirror. She was crying and he wondered why? Maybe one of the soldiers intimidated her? All the tests done on her were the least of her concerns. Female emotions obviously.
Guilty conscience. She knows about these creatures and she’s going to lead me right to them.
His second in command, Dozier, entered. He was tall, standing at 6’5, with tattoos all over his bald head. He was the one who tracked his suspect to the park where she was found. He was mean and got shit done, something Miles liked.
“That detective who has been blowing up your phone like a clingy ex is being escorted up now.” he informed.
Det. Axel Bosch had been calling the colonel ever since they picked up the girl. He’s her neighbor and was obviously worried. Since he was running a case on her, Miles felt it only fair to let him in on the case, so he doesn’t start blabbing to other cops about her disappearance.
“Good.” he replied.
“Want me to kill him at the end of this?” Dozier asked. Miles moved his head from side to side.
“Let’s see how he reacts. If he comes out of a bag on us, then you dump him in the woods.” he replied. Dozier nodded and moved toward the door. He pressed his hand to the door, and it slid open.
On the other side was the angry detective. He stepped in glaring at Dozier obviously not liking the psychotic smirk on his face. When he saw the colonel, he immediately approached. But before he could even question where his neighbor was, he saw her in a chair in what looked like an interrogation room. She was crying, lip busted. Axel was livid and he grabbed Miles by the collar, yet the soldier wasn’t moved.
Dozier raised his gun immediately ready to shoot, but amused Miles held his hand up to stop him.
“What the fuck is she doing here?” Axel snarled. Miles smirked.
“She is under interrogation. She is suspected of harboring a terrorist of grave importance to Homeland Security and the FBI.” he said calmly.
“Bullshit! What terrorist?” Axel snapped and Miles shook his head and yanked the man’s hand off his shirt.
“Don’t get your panties in a wad. And that’s highly classified, way above your pay grade. Your report gave us all the information we needed. We couldn’t have found her without you.” he said maliciously. Axel looked at Teleya and winced before looking at Miles.
“What are you going to do?” he asked.
“Treat her like any other suspect. Ask her a few questions and if her intel is accurate, she will be let go. Cut and dry just like that.” he said placing his hands over his hips. Dozier smirked at his commanding officer’s lie. Axel shook his head pointing at the window.
“I know this woman. She isn’t harboring anyone, she’s just a battered woman hiding from an abusive ex-boyfriend.” he claimed. Miles shook his head.
“And that may all be true, but she picked up a new friend somewhere along her journey to stay hidden. Now she is way over her head, and I’m letting her sit there for a bit so she can come to terms with that. You want to make this easier for her, go in and get her to tell us where this fugitive is and I’ll see to it personally she’s escorted home.” he said. Axel didn’t believe a word he was saying. He worked in the field long enough to spot bullshit and this man was spewing it. He looked back at the window before nodding.
“Give me ten minutes.” he said.
“You get five.” Miles said.
Scorpion’s POV
Her soul link brought me to a large facility filled with red heat signatures. There were many warriors here with weapons of great power. I was crouched on a tree branch. observing the security field around the building. Their technology would not sense me.
If her other soul link was destroyed, then that meant her vehicle was heavily damaged, demolished even. Large amounts of pressure are the only physical thing that could crush a soul link. When one or both bonded pairs die, the soul link loses its glow and grows black. This meant these people were not planning to let her leave their capture. My mask showed me closer visuals inside the building.
Teleya’s would be a brighter red due to the soul link. I found her, secluded in an area. I can see her heat signature, but it was different. Around her red heat signature was like all the others but inside her, was a small richer red color that looked to be spreading throughout her body. This was a rare occurrence, and I couldn’t believe I was witnessing it.
The suckling. Its DNA is both mine and hers, but it’s changing Teleya’s blood, and her heat temperature is slowly starting to change to match the suckling’s, to match a yautja’s. The fetus is changing its mother’s body to withstand the growth and entirety of the pregnancy. I have met only one human female who’s suckling did this while in the womb. She was a servant to a yautja elder who had impregnated her many years ago on a hunt here.
She took on many of the yautja’s senses and her body was stronger to grow her baby who turned out to be a very strong and honorable warrior male. It also slowed her aging and prolonged her life to live. The elder saw her as a symbol of luck on hunts and has kept her at his side even to this day.
So Teleya would live. I needed to get inside. It would take too much time to kill every warrior at the post. My mask examined the wall structure. There was nothing threatening on it that I couldn’t scale it. I noticed warriors were walking the permitter of the wall obviously scouting for trespassers. I noticed a specific heat signature was leaving the facility. Metal was lodged in its chest that I had seen before. It was the male warrior who lived beside my mate. He was here!
He had to be involved and had to have caused this! He would not be getting far!
Teleya’s POV
The door slid open, and I looked up to see someone I was not expecting.
“Axel?” I asked standing up and he immediately approached. We gave a quick embrace before he pulled back.
“Teleya, what the fuck is going on? I tried to call you to tell you about these guys, but I couldn’t reach you!” he said in panic. I shook my head immediately.
“None of that matters now. What matters is you have to get out of here.” I said. If he’s here and Scorpion sees him, he would not hesitate to kill him. Axel shook his head.
“I’m not leaving you in this place! You and I both know they are not going to let you leave this place. They say you’re harboring a terrorist and my files from what I collected from the gang shooting with you involved proved that! I don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.” he said, stress filled his tone. So that’s what they’re calling him.
They’re calling Scorpion a terrorist as a means of using all this force and intimidation. Of course, what authority would believe them if they said they were hunting an alien. I looked down in thought. Miles was obviously listening in and if I didn’t give him something, they will kill us both. I nodded slowly and looked up at Axel.
“They’re right, Axel. I was harboring a terrorist who will be coming for me. I can’t say how long we have until he is here, but he will come. I’m sorry I put you through this. I’m going to give Miles everything he wants.” I replied before giving him a tight hug before whispering very lowly. “If you meet him, say Teleya’s voice gives you goosebumps.”
The door opened immediately and in came a tall, bald man with tattoos all over his head.
“Time’s up. You’ll be escorted out to your vehicle.” he said. Axel looked at him shaking his head and facing him.
“No, you can go to hell.” he said. I grabbed Axel’s hand.
“Do what he says!” I snapped. He looked at me and I just nodded at him. I could tell he was arguing with himself, but looked away and held his arms up in submission.
“Fine.” he said and began to walk toward the door giving me a final look before the doors closed. I was alone again and something inside me felt warm, fuzzy almost. I looked around the ceiling a bit. I could feel him. Scorpion, he is close. I couldn’t explain this feeling, but it was definitely real. I wasn’t afraid of the tingling feelings that was moving over my body. All I cared about was Scorpion was near.
Normal POV
The colonel continued to watch the woman as she was now sitting down.
“Well, that was good cop. Now time for bad cop.” he said to the window. The doors slid open, and Miriam and Tika entered, already looking uncomfortable and worried. Miles looked at the two ladies. “Well hell you two look like you’ve seen a ghost. What did you find out from the tests?”
The two women looked at each other and then at the man.
“When we did the thermal reading from her being decontaminated, her entire body scans were off.” Miriam said. Miles looked at her confused.
“The hell you mean off. Heat scans are always red.” he said. Miriam nodded.
“Yes, hers was a mixture of red and something else. The scans came back inconclusive.” She said holding up the results. Miles approached and snatched the file from her hand and reviewed the documents. There was a side-by-side picture of a basic human signature and then the other picture was of the body that was sprayed and scanned for any infections or diseases that were not considered normal. In bed red letters the word inconclusive was stamped over her body. This has never happened before, but their technology was made for exactly this!
“And her labs?” Miles ask. Miriam shook her head.
“Her blood work came back severely abnormal. I reviewed them myself; she does not have a known blood type. Not A, B, AB or O-”
“Yeah, I know what the word known means.” Miles snapped. Miriam immediately looked down before glancing at Tika. Miles could see the looks the two caught each other and didn’t like it. “Well spit it out, what else did you find!” Tika looked at him with a confident stare.
“There were fluids found inside her and when testing it, it also came up inconclusive. Nothing in our data base could identify it, but when looked at under a microscope, I concluded that it is… sperm.” she said. Miles’ face scrunched up a bit, but he remained with the woman since she did say this fluid wasn’t in their data base. “Her blood work confirms… she’s pregnant.” she said. Miles stared at her for a moment as if she were stupid.
“Pregnant.” he repeated, and Tika nodded.
“Yes, fifteen weeks to be exact. I suspect-” she paused and looked at Miriam and the older woman nodded and looked at Miles.
“We suspect she is pregnant with a fetus that is not entirely of this world. And whatever is inside her is changing her. And whatever you are hunting is coming for her.” she said. Miles’ body inflated almost not with fear or surprise but with excitement. He knew there were other beings out there that were more than what mankind has ever seen. He looked at his captive before smirking manically. Tika looked at Miles with a questioning stare.
“Should we make a call to leadership and tell them our findings?” she asked. Miles nodded slowly.
“Yes. Tell them they’re going to need to make some room for some few new specimens at Area 51.” he said.

If “Cross” proves to be popular, it would be the latest successful Amazon series based on a long-running novel character. The company found themselves with a massive hit on their hands courtesy of “Reacher” starring Alan Ritchson, based on the Jack Reacher novels written by Lee Child. Likewise, Amazon’s longest-running series to date was the cop drama “Bosch,” based on the Harry Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly. Titus Welliver starred as Bosch and now leads the spinoff series “Bosch: Legacy” at Amazon Freevee. A second spinoff starring Maggie Q as cold case detective Renée Ballard is also in the works at Prime Video. Prime Video also airs “The Terminal List” starring Chris Pratt, which is based on a series of novels by Jack Carr, with a prequel series on the way, while the John Krasinski-led Jack Ryan series concluded in 2023 after four seasons.
This is old news, but after hearing about Jensen's show Countdown, and reading the blurb about all the action/cop series currently or previously airing on Amazon, it seems that's the genre route they seem to be taking... but if that's the case, is there even room for another one? Especially one who's titular character is not based on a previously known entity?
Not to mention, that Amazon was impressed enough with Cross to renew an unaired series for a second season. It makes me curious to see if Amazon seems just as impressed with Countdown.
Link. Another SPN one-time guest star does good and leading his own show. Aldis Hodge is also the executive/producer. The character of Alex Cross has been around since 1997 when Morgan Freeman first played him. Then Tyler Perry took over the role in 2012.
Every studio is cutting cost and number of projects, even Netflix. The Countdown not based on established IP with built-in audience is less of a sure thing, but at least it's going to be cheaper. So cost wise, there is enough room for The Countdown. Helped that Jensen is not as high tier as Adis Hodge and John Krasinski and Chris Pratt, and therefore Jensen is much less expensive. Plus Jensen is not an executive/producer so Amazon studios doesn't have to cut him a second check. I had quite a few very angry Anon demanding that I revise/recant my claim that Jensen is not one of the producers of The Countdown because that means in their eyes Jared is still "winning" because he was an executive/producer of Walker.
Side note, Alex Cross and Reacher are produced by Paramount/Skydance and licensed to Amazon for distribution.
