I highly recommend watching the full video on YouTube. The only thing the cyber truck even sorta survives is the c4 bombs. But like it can survive a bomb but the door is fucked if you slam it truly a marvel the cyber truck is such trash.
To be fair in comparison he does destroy a ford truck at the same time. Bet y’all can’t guess which car is still drivable after.
#truly I recommend whistling diesel videos#he’s very much so playing a character#but watching someone destroy vehicles that claim to be top of the line is very fun

Tesla's Dieselgate
Elon Musk lies a lot. He lies about being a “utopian socialist.” He lies about being a “free speech absolutist.” He lies about which companies he founded:
https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-cofounder-martin-eberhard-interview-history-elon-musk-ev-market-2023-2 He lies about being the “chief engineer” of those companies:
https://www.quora.com/Was-Elon-Musk-the-actual-engineer-behind-SpaceX-and-Tesla
He lies about really stupid stuff, like claiming that comsats that share the same spectrum will deliver steady broadband speeds as they add more users who each get a narrower slice of that spectrum:
https://www.eff.org/wp/case-fiber-home-today-why-fiber-superior-medium-21st-century-broadband
The fundamental laws of physics don’t care about this bullshit, but people do. The comsat lie convinced a bunch of people that pulling fiber to all our homes is literally impossible — as though the electrical and phone lines that come to our homes now were installed by an ancient, lost civilization. Pulling new cabling isn’t a mysterious art, like embalming pharaohs. We do it all the time. One of the poorest places in America installed universal fiber with a mule named “Ole Bub”:
https://www.newyorker.com/tech/annals-of-technology/the-one-traffic-light-town-with-some-of-the-fastest-internet-in-the-us
Previous tech barons had “reality distortion fields,” but Musk just blithely contradicts himself and pretends he isn’t doing so, like a budget Steve Jobs. There’s an entire site devoted to cataloging Musk’s public lies:
https://elonmusk.today/
But while Musk lacks the charm of earlier Silicon Valley grifters, he’s much better than they ever were at running a long con. For years, he’s been promising “full self driving…next year.”
https://pluralistic.net/2022/10/09/herbies-revenge/#100-billion-here-100-billion-there-pretty-soon-youre-talking-real-money
He’s hasn’t delivered, but he keeps claiming he has, making Teslas some of the deadliest cars on the road:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/06/10/tesla-autopilot-crashes-elon-musk/
Tesla is a giant shell-game masquerading as a car company. The important thing about Tesla isn’t its cars, it’s Tesla’s business arrangement, the Tesla-Financial Complex:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/11/24/no-puedo-pagar-no-pagara/#Rat
Once you start unpacking Tesla’s balance sheets, you start to realize how much the company depends on government subsidies and tax-breaks, combined with selling carbon credits that make huge, planet-destroying SUVs possible, under the pretense that this is somehow good for the environment:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/04/14/for-sale-green-indulgences/#killer-analogy
But even with all those financial shenanigans, Tesla’s got an absurdly high valuation, soaring at times to 1600x its profitability:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/01/15/hoover-calling/#intangibles
That valuation represents a bet on Tesla’s ability to extract ever-higher rents from its customers. Take Tesla’s batteries: you pay for the battery when you buy your car, but you don’t own that battery. You have to rent the right to use its full capacity, with Tesla reserving the right to reduce how far you go on a charge based on your willingness to pay:
https://memex.craphound.com/2017/09/10/teslas-demon-haunted-cars-in-irmas-path-get-a-temporary-battery-life-boost/
That’s just one of the many rent-a-features that Tesla drivers have to shell out for. You don’t own your car at all: when you sell it as a used vehicle, Tesla strips out these features you paid for and makes the next driver pay again, reducing the value of your used car and transfering it to Tesla’s shareholders:
https://www.theverge.com/2020/2/6/21127243/tesla-model-s-autopilot-disabled-remotely-used-car-update
To maintain this rent-extraction racket, Tesla uses DRM that makes it a felony to alter your own car’s software without Tesla’s permission. This is the root of all autoenshittification:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/07/24/rent-to-pwn/#kitt-is-a-demon
This is technofeudalism. Whereas capitalists seek profits (income from selling things), feudalists seek rents (income from owning the things other people use). If Telsa were a capitalist enterprise, then entrepreneurs could enter the market and sell mods that let you unlock the functionality in your own car:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/06/11/1-in-3/#boost-50
But because Tesla is a feudal enterprise, capitalists must first secure permission from the fief, Elon Musk, who decides which companies are allowed to compete with him, and how.
Once a company owns the right to decide which software you can run, there’s no limit to the ways it can extract rent from you. Blocking you from changing your device’s software lets a company run overt scams on you. For example, they can block you from getting your car independently repaired with third-party parts.
But they can also screw you in sneaky ways. Once a device has DRM on it, Section 1201 of the DMCA makes it a felony to bypass that DRM, even for legitimate purposes. That means that your DRM-locked device can spy on you, and because no one is allowed to explore how that surveillance works, the manufacturer can be incredibly sloppy with all the personal info they gather:
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/29/tesla-model-3-keeps-data-like-crash-videos-location-phone-contacts.html
All kinds of hidden anti-features can lurk in your DRM-locked car, protected from discovery, analysis and criticism by the illegality of bypassing the DRM. For example, Teslas have a hidden feature that lets them lock out their owners and summon a repo man to drive them away if you have a dispute about a late payment:
https://tiremeetsroad.com/2021/03/18/tesla-allegedly-remotely-unlocks-model-3-owners-car-uses-smart-summon-to-help-repo-agent/
DRM is a gun on the mantlepiece in Act I, and by Act III, it goes off, revealing some kind of ugly and often dangerous scam. Remember Dieselgate? Volkswagen created a line of demon-haunted cars: if they thought they were being scrutinized (by regulators measuring their emissions), they switched into a mode that traded performance for low emissions. But when they believed themselves to be unobserved, they reversed this, emitting deadly levels of NOX but delivering superior mileage.
The conversion of the VW diesel fleet into mobile gas-chambers wouldn’t have been possible without DRM. DRM adds a layer of serious criminal jeopardy to anyone attempting to reverse-engineer and study any device, from a phone to a car. DRM let Apple claim to be a champion of its users’ privacy even as it spied on them from asshole to appetite:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/14/luxury-surveillance/#liar-liar
Now, Tesla is having its own Dieselgate scandal. A stunning investigation by Steve Stecklow and Norihiko Shirouzu for Reuters reveals how Tesla was able to create its own demon-haunted car, which systematically deceived drivers about its driving range, and the increasingly desperate measures the company turned to as customers discovered the ruse:
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/tesla-batteries-range/
The root of the deception is very simple: Tesla mis-sells its cars by falsely claiming ranges that those cars can’t attain. Every person who ever bought a Tesla was defrauded.
But this fraud would be easy to detect. If you bought a Tesla rated for 353 miles on a charge, but the dashboard range predictor told you that your fully charged car could only go 150 miles, you’d immediately figure something was up. So your Telsa tells another lie: the range predictor tells you that you can go 353 miles.
But again, if the car continued to tell you it has 203 miles of range when it was about to run out of charge, you’d figure something was up pretty quick — like, the first time your car ran out of battery while the dashboard cheerily informed you that you had 203 miles of range left.
So Teslas tell a third lie: when the battery charge reached about 50%, the fake range is replaced with the real one. That way, drivers aren’t getting mass-stranded by the roadside, and the scam can continue.
But there’s a new problem: drivers whose cars are rated for 353 miles but can’t go anything like that far on a full charge naturally assume that something is wrong with their cars, so they start calling Tesla service and asking to have the car checked over.
This creates a problem for Tesla: those service calls can cost the company $1,000, and of course, there’s nothing wrong with the car. It’s performing exactly as designed. So Tesla created its boldest fraud yet: a boiler-room full of anti-salespeople charged with convincing people that their cars weren’t broken.
This new unit — the “diversion team” — was headquartered in a Nevada satellite office, which was equipped with a metal xylophone that would be rung in triumph every time a Tesla owner was successfully conned into thinking that their car wasn’t defrauding them.
When a Tesla owner called this boiler room, the diverter would run remote diagnostics on their car, then pronounce it fine, and chide the driver for having energy-hungry driving habits (shades of Steve Jobs’s “You’re holding it wrong”):
https://www.wired.com/2010/06/iphone-4-holding-it-wrong/
The drivers who called the Diversion Team weren’t just lied to, they were also punished. The Tesla app was silently altered so that anyone who filed a complaint about their car’s range was no longer able to book a service appointment for any reason. If their car malfunctioned, they’d have to request a callback, which could take several days.
Meanwhile, the diverters on the diversion team were instructed not to inform drivers if the remote diagnostics they performed detected any other defects in the cars.
The diversion team had a 750 complaint/week quota: to juke this stat, diverters would close the case for any driver who failed to answer the phone when they were eventually called back. The center received 2,000+ calls every week. Diverters were ordered to keep calls to five minutes or less.
Eventually, diverters were ordered to cease performing any remote diagnostics on drivers’ cars: a source told Reuters that “Thousands of customers were told there is nothing wrong with their car” without any diagnostics being performed.
Predicting EV range is an inexact science as many factors can affect battery life, notably whether a journey is uphill or downhill. Every EV automaker has to come up with a figure that represents some kind of best guess under a mix of conditions. But while other manufacturers err on the side of caution, Tesla has the most inaccurate mileage estimates in the industry, double the industry average.
Other countries’ regulators have taken note. In Korea, Tesla was fined millions and Elon Musk was personally required to state that he had deceived Tesla buyers. The Korean regulator found that the true range of Teslas under normal winter conditions was less than half of the claimed range.
Now, many companies have been run by malignant narcissists who lied compulsively — think of Thomas Edison, archnemesis of Nikola Tesla himself. The difference here isn’t merely that Musk is a deeply unfit monster of a human being — but rather, that DRM allows him to defraud his customers behind a state-enforced opaque veil. The digital computers at the heart of a Tesla aren’t just demons haunting the car, changing its performance based on whether it believes it is being observed — they also allow Musk to invoke the power of the US government to felonize anyone who tries to peer into the black box where he commits his frauds.

This Sunday (July 30) at 1530h, I’m appearing on a panel at Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, CA, to discuss the wonderful, award-winning “Ghost Post” Haunted Mansion project I worked on for Disney Imagineering.
Image ID [A scene out of an 11th century tome on demon-summoning called 'Compendium rarissimum totius Artis Magicae sistematisatae per celeberrimos Artis hujus Magistros. Anno 1057. Noli me tangere.' It depicts a demon tormenting two unlucky would-be demon-summoners who have dug up a grave in a graveyard. One summoner is held aloft by his hair, screaming; the other screams from inside the grave he is digging up. The scene has been altered to remove the demon's prominent, urinating penis, to add in a Tesla supercharger, and a red Tesla Model S nosing into the scene.]

roadburn
simon “ghost” riley x gn!reader
@cielosafeplace wrote an idea on here about what Simon would do if you crashed on his motorcycle and that was enough to get me out of my writing slump. Truly doing the lord’s work.
cw: motorcycle accident, blood, mild gore, protective Simon, POV switch, gn! reader, no use of y/n, not very good.

—
Everything was ringing.
You didn’t really understand what was going on—one moment you were riding behind Simon on his motorcycle, and now you were sitting up on the traffic median. It was blurry around you, movement and cars and people looking like blocks of color in an abstract painting.
The breeze tousled your hair, crisp and clean in your nose. Your hair? You didn’t remember taking off your helmet. Shaking fingers made their way up to your head, passing through where the helmet would be to simply comb through hair. You pulled your fingers away, the swimming image of your hand in front of you showing the tips of your gloved fingers shining crimson. You didn’t quite notice that your gloves were shredded to bits, part of your palms visible and raw beneath.
It was enough to send a shock through you, your breath coming out so harshly that you actually let out a sound. It was swallowed by the rest of the noise going on around you, shouting and honking and cars driving by. The commotion surrounding you was far too loud, the quality of it like you were swimming underwater.
You stood on shaky legs, grabbing onto a street sign to pull yourself to standing as you fought vertigo. Everything was moving so slowly. You felt like you had to get to your feet, get off the traffic median.
Your vision was clearing. You could see a few people running around and chattering, their frantic gestures seeming all too slow to make sense. Your helmet was in the road, the buckle flapping open from where you must have ripped it off, there was a flat spot from where your head dragged across the rough pavement.
Simon’s motorcycle was on the curb, on its side and banged up in a few areas—he’d be cross to have to fix it.
Simon.
Where was he?
It wasn’t like Simon to not be glued to your side. Sometimes you joked that he was more guard dog than boyfriend, snarling and snapping his jaws at anyone that got too close for comfort. The fact that he wasn’t next to you right now made your blood run cold.
You rubbed your eyes on the back of your hand, blinking.
You heard him before you saw him. You’d never heard Simon scream like that, your name—your real name, not calling you “pet” like he normally did—ringing through the air like a thunderclap.
—
He couldn’t believe it. That fucking sod ran a red light, completely blew through it, and hit the bike hard enough to make him lose control.
He heard you scream, the sound of it muffled by the helmet covering your head. Simon’s heart was in his throat, hardly recognizing the pain as the bike dragged him across the road, his thigh trapped beneath the vehicle as his pants got shredded down to the skin. His jacket was destroyed, the leather hot where it scraped across the asphalt.
The driver was getting out of his truck, shouting his useless apologies as other good samaritans stopped to see what was going on.
It didn’t matter, none of it mattered as Simon shoved his bike off his leg like it was a toy and heard it crumple as he stood. The blood soaking into his pants was nothing—child’s play compared to the torture he’d experienced at work. Getting hung on a meat hook really makes any other form of pain look like a paper cut.
It was like he had tunnel vision, the panic of not being able to immediately spot you making him think the worst. You were a little thing compared to him, far too fragile for his comfort.
The people who had gotten out of their cars surrounded him in a swarm of too-loud voices and concerned gazes, trying to get him to sit down and wait for the ambulance. The driver got in his face, apologizing and claiming he didn’t see the two of you on the motorcycle. If Simon wasn’t busy worrying about you, he probably would’ve battered the idiot on the spot.
He simply brushed him aside, shouting your name in a bid of desperation. Despite all the near-death situations he’d lived through, the terror he felt at the pit of his stomach was more intense than anything he had ever experienced before.
The image of your mangled body on the asphalt filled his mind, imagination running wild. What if you’d been run over? Broke your damn neck?
His world was already falling apart as he took a few staggering steps.
Then he spotted you, all the way on the median and clutching a sign as you leaned against the metal pole. Your helmet was sitting on the ground nearby, cracked and part of the shell entirely scraped off. You must have taken it off in your shock.
Blood was running down your face, matting in your hair and following the contours of your features. Simon was running before he could think, mowing down any person that stupidly stood between the two of you. There was a sting of pain shooting up his leg with each step, but he hardly noticed.
You looked so dazed, your normally sharp gaze floating as you heard him shout your name. Fear and relief surged through Simon at once—you were bleeding, but you were standing and around and undeniably alive.
He wasn’t thinking enough to remember to be careful about crossing the last open lane of traffic, almost getting plowed through by a truck. A shout was barked at the driver as a big hand smacked the hood, Simon continuing his beeline to you. It was instinct at this point, like blinders had been fitted over his eyes to only see you.
His helmet skittered across the road where he threw it off, needing to see your face without the tint of the visor. Everything got exponentially louder without his helmet.
The tension was clear in your stance, shock making your spine ramrod straight and your hands clench at your sides. He approached carefully, tilting his head a little so he was closer to your height and his gloved hands outstretched. The spark of recognition in your gaze comforted him further, starting to placate the gnawing anxiety in his stomach.
Neither of you said anything as Simon gathered you up in his arms and held you close to his chest, a big hand cupping the back of your head. Your hands twisted in his shirt beneath the jacket, pulling him toward you as a shudder ran through you. He pressed his nose to the crown of your head and inhaled deeply.
He could care less about the chaos going on behind him, the sirens of an ambulance in the distance as insignificant to him as chirping birds.
Fingertips gently pressed into the side of your jaw, tilting your head up to look at him. The blood was smeared across part of your face, but it looked like the bleeding was starting to slow. Your eyes were wide and a touch vacant as you looked up at him.
“You with me, pet?” Simon asked, his head crowding in close to yours as he tried to block out the rest of the world. He held his breath while waiting for your answer.
You nodded—albeit shakily as you looked him over. “Si, your leg.” Your voice was soft and wavering as you spoke. He watched your brows furrow with concern, lips parting.
“S’okay, don’t worry about me,” he said immediately, nudging your chin to look back up at his face. He didn’t even bother to look down at his leg. It didn’t hurt, the adrenaline fueling him enough to not feel it quite yet.
His thumbs smoothed over your face, his careful gaze focusing on the cut hidden in your hair as he took every detail of you in. Your jeans were ripped along your knees and up your thigh, your shirt a bit askew, your gloves torn. You had some road burn, some scrapes, hit your head pretty damn good, but you were standing and talking to him.
He could cry. Simon choked as he pulled you back into his chest, not wanting you to see how wet his dark eyes became. Fuck. There was a moment there that he thought he’d gotten you killed. The best thing in his sorry excuse for a life, dead in the road because he couldn’t protect you.
But you were here, you were in his arms and you were breathing. The panic receded, he took deep breaths as he looked up at the gloomy sky to try and get his head back on his shoulders.
The siren of the ambulance made his splitting headache worse, police cars following and the lights flashing in his eyes. It was only when they were parked near his destroyed motorcycle that he moved, keeping you clutched in the cage of his arms as he limped back across the street toward them.
The driver that hit you had the audacity to approach again, citing apologies and claims that he didn’t even see the motorcycle. Simon shoved him away, snarling like an animal. “Get the fuck away from us,” he hissed, voice low. “Got half the mind to kill you where you stand.”
You grabbed Simon’s wrist, grip soft. “Stop, Si,” you murmured, dragging him with you to the ambulance. There were already some people talking to the police that showed up, telling them what happened.
Simon made them tend to you first, worried you were concussed or had internal injuries. He fussed over you, staying close to you as the EMT shined a flashlight in your eyes and asked you soft-spoken questions. Price was already on his way to come grab the two of you, the fossil of a flip phone in his pocket still working unlike your smashed device.
He didn’t even know that there was a part of the meat of his calf that got burned and torn up from the bike landing on top of him until one of the medics started to force him onto a stretcher. He’d need stitches, something he could do himself if the ridiculous EMTs weren’t trying to corral him like a wild horse.
He would’ve fought it if you didn’t make him lay down, only soothed by the fact that Price showed up. You weren’t injured badly, thankfully, just some roadburn and a cut on your head that bled worse than it needed to.
Simon finally relaxed onto the stretcher after you kissed his scarred cheek, promising him that you were okay and you’d see him at the hospital. The adrenaline rushed out of him as soon as he was loaded up into the back, his dark eyes fluttering shut as he let out a soft groan.
He couldn’t believe he’d have to rebuild that fucking bike now.

Nazi dumbfuck
Being against murder and genocide is not a nazi ideology but go off I guess.
If anyone is nazi, it’s zionists.
Lets take a look:
In particular, the Nazis embraced the false idea that Jews were a separate and inferior race. - Israeli politicians have called palestinian children the “children off darkness” and israelis “the children of light”. Also, they’ve called Palestinians animals and not humans and therefore should be treated as such.
the Nazis referred to Jews as a “parasitic race.” - there is posters around Israel and on the internet created by Israelis where they compare palestinians to parasites - saying that they’re parasites to the israeli soil and needs to be removed.
Nazis wanted to separate Jews and Aryan Germans. They tried to force Jews to leave Germany. Not only do Israelis see Palestinians as animals, they’ve displaced 2 million Palestinians. Do you have any idea of what’s going on in Rafah rn?
Those whom the Nazis identified as non-Aryans (including Jews) were persecuted and discriminated against. Israelis have murdered 700.000 palestinians and removed their access to water, food and medical care. Israelis have been protesting by sitting in front of vehicles with medical equipment so gazans don’t get help. Israel have been dropping white phosphorus for 10 years so Palestinians either 1. Get burned. 2. Get killed by the water they drink that contains that white phosphorus. PS! White phosphorus is illegal but not when israelis do it🤡
the Nazis carried out forced sterilizations of certain groups whom they considered inferior.. lets swich our focus from Palestinians and lets take a look at the black people in Israel, lot of them ethiopians, that have been forced to sterilize themselves because israelis don’t want “black” in their jewish line. They want to keep it “clean” and not let black genes, especially not when those black people have converted and aren’t “real” jews. Do you remember who also wanted to keep their race clean? Does it sound familiar?
The Nazis believed that races were destined to wage war against each other. For them, war was a way for the Aryan race to gain land and resources. Specifically, the Nazis wanted to conquer territory in eastern Europe. They planned to remove, dominate, or murder the people who lived there. They believed that Aryan Germans should control this land because they were the supposed master race. Israelis believe that they are Gods chosen people and therefore owns that land. They have removed, dominated and murderer Palestinians who live there to take that land from them, claiming they are the superior race because God chose them. Therefore, they have every right to take that territory from the indigenous people.
Nazis also falsely claimed that all Jews were an existential threat to Germany and that they had to be destroyed. Israelis claim that this “war” will not be over until total victory - meaning until every Palestinian is dead or removed. They celebrated when north gaza looked like a desert, because the “parasites” who was a threath to Israel is now gone. And now Netanyahu is telling these parasites to leave Rafah, the claimed “safe space” or else they get murdered there too. And lets remember that Israelis don’t discriminate. They murder all Palestinians! Muslims, Christians, jews. All of them. And anyone who supports them.
And don’t even dare to say the Hamas because Israel never cared about Hamas nor did Hamas exist when this started. They have claimed that they need to murder children in order to prevent them from growing up and joining hamas. Children. Women. Elderly.
Bold of you to ask this anonymously, though.

[ 📹 Scenes of panicked civilians rushing out of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, in the northern Gaza Strip, after the Israeli occupation army targeted the reception hall of the medical center with artillery shells, damaging the entrance to the hospital in what can only be a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. 📈 The current death toll now exceeds 35'647 Palestinians killed and over 79'852 others have been wounded since Oct. 7th. ]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🏘️💥🚑 🚨
DAY 228: US OKAYS "LIMITED" OPERATION IN RAFAH, OVER 900'000 PALESTINIANS DISPLACED, AL-AWDA HOSPITAL UNDER SIEGE, MASS MURDER CONTINUES UNABATED
On 228th day of the Israeli occupation's ongoing special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 5 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 85 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, while another 200 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.
It should be noted that as a result of the constant Israeli bombardment of Gaza's healthcare system, infrastructure, residential and commercial buildings, local paramedic and civil defense crews are unable to recover countless hundreds, even thousands of victims who remain trapped under the rubble, or who's bodies remain strewn across the streets of Gaza.
This leaves the official death toll vastly undercounted, as Gaza's healthcare officials are unable to accurately tally those killed and maimed in this genocide, which must be kept in mind when considering the scale of the mass murder.
The authorities of the Israeli occupation have agreed to put aside plans for a full-scale assault on the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, for a more "limited" operation in the city, with the approval of the United States.
In an article published by David Ignatius in the Washington Post, Ignatius writes that "Israeli leaders have reached a consensus about a final assault on Hamas’s four remaining battalions in Rafah."
"Instead of the heavy attack with two divisions that Israel contemplated several weeks ago, government and military leaders foresee a more limited assault that U.S. officials think will result in fewer civilian casualties and, for that reason, Biden won’t oppose," Ignatius added.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army says it has displaced approximately 950'000 Palestinians in the Rafah area, where more than 1.5 million civilians had gathered to seek shelter from the occupation's ongoing violent bombardment of Gaza.
According to the Israeli occupation forces (IOF), some 300'000 to 400'000 Palestinians remain in the city, whose population was less than 172'000 prior to the start of "Israel's" ongoing genocide of Palestinians.
Previously, the IOF ordered the evacuation of the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah, dropping leaflets over the city that demanded Palestinians uproot themselves and their belongings for the umpteenth time and move their families to the already obliterated city of Khan Yunis, as well as the equally destroyed Al-Mawasi area.
The Israeli media claims the occupation army never ordered the rest of the population leave the city, and that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have "chosen" to leave Rafah of their own volition.
Although IOF soldiers and armored vehicles have stopped short of entering central Rafah, their bombing and shelling has NOT remained contained within the easternmost neighborhoods, but has repeatedly hammered central and northern Rafah as well.
In other news, the humanitarian aid organization ActionAid International has issued an urgent appeal to the international community to intervene on behalf of the Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, which has been besieged by the Israeli occupation army for several days.
"Al-Awda Hospital, one of our vital partners, is currently under siege by the Israeli army, resulting in the complete blockade of access to and from the facility. This blockade severely impedes the hospital's ability to provide essential medical services to the most vulnerable populations in the north of Gaza," ActionAid warned on Tuesday.
Previously, the Israeli occupation forces laid siege to Al-Awda Hospital for 18 days in December, 2023, during which, three medical staff were shot by Israeli snipers.
According to ActionAid International, whose headquarters is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, the hospital is "struggling to meet the urgent medical needs of the community, with 80% of injuries requiring immediate orthopaedic intervention."
"The capacity of Al-Awda Hospital has been severely compromised due to the bombing of its accommodation floors, resulting in the deaths of three doctors and the loss of 48 beds. Despite these challenges, 93 medical personnel continue to work tirelessly under extremely difficult conditions," the appeal said of the conditions at the hospital.
According to the acting Director of Al-Awda Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Salha, the hospital remains "under siege again by the Israeli military, with shooting and shelling in its vicinity, ambulances unable to leave the hospital and injured people unable to enter."
"We were surprised today by the siege of Al-Awda Hospital. [There was] shooting fired in the vicinity of the hospital and many shells," Dr. Salha is quoted as saying.
ActionAid goes on to emphasize that "the crisis unfolding at Al-Awda Hospital demands immediate attention and action. We urge leaders and governments across the world to leverage their diplomatic influence and take actions to address this urgent crisis."
"Specifically, we call on you to demand an immediate end to the siege imposed on the hospital by the Israeli government, allowing for the free movement of patients, medical staff, and essential medical supplies and fuel. Furthermore, we implore you to ensure the protection of civilians and medical staff both at Al-Awda Hospital and across Gaza. Swift and decisive action is imperative to alleviate the suffering of those affected by this humanitarian crisis," the appeal concludes.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army continues massively bombing and shelling various axis of the Gaza Strip, killing and wounding many scores of Palestinians and their families, while destroying the little remaining infrastructure and the few residential buildings still standing in the enclave following nearly 8 months of non-stop bombardment.
Today also marks the 15th consecutive day the Israeli occupation authorities have closed the Rafah and Karm Abu Salem border crossings, south of Rafah, preventing the passage of humanitarian and medical aid convoys, compounding the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza.
The occupation army forces holding the two crossings have prevented more than 3'000 aid trucks from entering the Gaza Strip, while also preventing around 700 sick and wounded Palestinians from leaving Gaza for treatment abroad.
At the same time, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued their assault on Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, pummeling the city and camp with constant airstrikes and artillery shelling, while also hammering various other areas of northern Gaza.
On Tuesday morning, occupation warplanes bombed a residential building belonging to the Al-Kahlot family in the Beit Lahiya project, in Gaza's north, killing at least 12 civilians, while another 14 martyrs and 42 wounded resulting from IOF raids in the city were transported to Kamal Adwan Hospital over the previous 24-hours.
Several casualties were also recorded following the bombing of IOF fighter jets on a house belonging to the Al-Kahtib family, also in Beit Lahiya.
Simultaneously, Zionist military forces closed the entrance to the town of Beit Hanoun, also in northern Gaza, besieging the town and a nearby school filled with displaced Palestinian families.
In the meantime, occupation aircraft bombed the Zaharna family home, in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City, murdering three Palestinians and wounding a number of others.
Occupation fighter jets also bombed a civilian residence belonging to the Qandil family in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of four civilians who were transported to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the city.
Occupation artillery shelling also hammered the eastern areas of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.
Elsewhere in Gaza, occupation Merkava tanks advanced beyond the Salah al-Din Gate along the border south of Rafah, while also demolishing several residential buildings using intense artillery shelling in the Brazil neighborhood, east of the city.
Tanks and armored vehicles were also stationed in the vicinity of Al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah.
Meanwhile, IOF warplanes bombed and destroyed several entire residential squares in the Yabna Camp, in central Rafah, while occupation forces targeted a group of people near the Awadallah Junction in the same camp, killing at least 5 civilians.
Zionist air forces went on to bombard several neighborhoods east of the Khan Yunis governate.
Previously, on Monday night, Israeli occupation forces bombed a Palestinian home belonging to the Abu Azoum family in central Rafah, massacreing three civilians and wounding several others, while yet another bombing targeting the Tabasi family home, which resulted in a number of casualties.
In further atrocities, occupation aircraft bombed a residential house belonging to the Abu Tair family in Abasan Al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of three Palestinians, while many others were wounded or remain missing under the rubble.
Military gunboats with the Israeli occupation army also fire machine guns towards the coast of Khan Yunis, while an Israeli quadcopter opened fire on a gathering of civilians behind the Association for the Disabled near the border with Egypt.
In central Gaza, the slaughter continued when occupation raids targeted the Bureij Camp, while Zionist soldiers killed two young men with gunfire in the Netzarim military axis, north of the Nuseirat Camp.
As a result of the Israeli occupation's ongoing special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the current death toll now exceeds 35'647 Palestinians killed, including at least 15'000 children and over 10'000 women, while another 79'852 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression, beginning with the events of October 7th, 2023.

1973 Dodge Monaco
On this date, August 7th, in 1980, "The Blues Brothers" was released.
"It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas."
The film used 13 different cars bought at auction from the California Highway Patrol to depict the retired 1974 Mount Prospect, Illinois Dodge Monaco patrol car that would affectionately become known as The Bluesmobile. The vehicles were outfitted by the studio to do particular driving chores; some were customized for speed and others for jumps, depending on the scene. For the large car chases, filmmakers purchased 60 police cars at $400 each, and most were destroyed at the completion of the filming. More than 40 stunt drivers were hired, and the crew kept a 24-hour body shop to repair cars.
According to Dan Aykroyd, the horn-shaped loudspeaker atop the Bluesmobile was actually a duplicate of a massive Cold War-era air raid siren (CLM Model 92729DP) installed in the schoolyard at Our Lady of Annunciation where Aykroyd attended elementary school while growing up in Ottawa, Canada. The siren was manufactured by a Canadian company called CLM Industries, and Aykroyd specifically requested the same CLM model be used in the movie to portray the loudspeaker the characters affixed to the top of the Bluesmobile and used as a public address system.
Director John Landis has claimed that the portion of the final chase sequence beneath the elevated train tracks, which briefly showed a reading of 118 miles per hour on the car's speedometer, was actually filmed at that speed, a testament to the Monaco's police car heritage. He has also stated that he re-shot some of the scenes with pedestrians on the sidewalks, so viewers could see that the film had not been sped up to create the effect of speed.
For the scene when the Blues Brothers finally arrive at the Richard J. Daley Center, a mechanic took several months to rig the car to fall apart.
At the time of its release, "The Blues Brothers" held the world record for the most cars destroyed in one film until it was surpassed by a single car in its 1998 sequel. (Wikipedia)

Eddie Munson x Reader (Angst)

Word Count: 2,676
At some point in every long term relationship, the people in it find themselves purchasing their first vehicle together. No matter if it’s brand new right off the lot or an older model that a buddy is trying to get rid of, it’s a huge milestone for any couple.
That time had finally come for you and Eddie.
By now, duct tape and prayer were holding his van together. Your car may have been slightly newer and in better condition, it was at the point of breaking far more often than the two of you could really afford.
Regardless of why, it was an exciting time for both of you. Even getting a used vehicle, this was going to be the newest one either of you had ever owned. Not only that, but this was the first vehicle that Eddie was able to buy for himself, which was another huge milestone. Yes, the two of you were buying it together, but that was beside the point. You weren’t going to take that claim away from him since his van had been Wayne’s initially and was a roughly used hand me down.
Once a truck was found that you both fell in love with, you went ahead and traded your car in to help lower the down payment. That had been the plan with the van too until dealership took one look at it and laughed, so the two of you were on your own when it came to selling it.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long to find someone that was willing to give what Eddie was asking for it.
Unfortunately, this meant it had to be cleaned. And if there was one thing that had never happened to this van, it was a good deep cleaning.
Now, while Eddie had gotten better over the years when it came to tossing trash into the back, especially once he had stopped hanging out in there, he wasn’t always the best at remembering to throw things away later. There were still plenty of empty to-go cups, soda bottles, food wrappers, cans, cigarette packs, lighters and the like that had to be thrown away. It wasn’t anything gross, at least, except for a bottle of motor oil that had leaked right behind the driver’s seat.
Once all off the surface trash was out of the way, and the old blankets pulled out and examined before ultimately being thrown away, the van turned into a bit of a time capsule for the two of you. You both started finding things long thought lost, which brought on some reminiscing.
Ah, if this van could talk. She had seen a lot of things, both with and without you at Eddie’s side.
You both were in great moods as the day progressed, made even better by sharing one last joint then making out in the back for old time’s sake. But shortly after that while at the peak of your high, you found something at the bottom of the glove compartment.
When you first saw it, you weren’t really sure what it was. Once you picked it up, you could tell by the feel of it that it was some kind of flimsy fabric that had been wadded up into a ball. After carefully unwinding the fabric from the ball, you held it up with both hands to look at.It took a moment, but you eventually realized what it was that you were holding.
“Hey Eddie?” you said, slowly turning in the passenger seat towards the back of the van.
“Yeah?”
“Look what I found,” you said.
Eddie looked over to see what you were talking about.
It took him a moment as well, but when he realized what exactly it was that you were holding, all the color drained from his face.
It was a pair of mesh thong panties that had been torn open down the sides.
“Sweetheart, I promise those are from before we got back together,” Eddie said instantly, panic all over his face, his tone frantic.
From the look on Eddie’s face, you could see the life you two had built together flashing before his eyes.
The relationship you and Eddie had was a complicated one that was hard to describe.
Really, the easiest way to explain it is by saying it was very easy for the two of you to get together but very hard for you to stay together.
The two of you had been friends since high school. Back in those days, you were good friends but not best friends thanks to people you both dated during those years. This was due to the feelings you both had for each other that were obvious to everyone except for yourselves. The people you dated could see it just as easily as anyone else and didn’t like it.
Not too long after Eddie graduated, you both found yourselves single at the same time and you decided to make your feelings known. Eddie wasn’t about to pass up that opportunity, instantly reciprocated and the two of you had an amazing relationship that lasted for just a little over six months before he ended it suddenly without any explanation at the time.
Over the course of the next three years, the two of you found yourselves drawn back to each other repeatedly. In that time period, you made three more serious attempts to date, made a run at trying to just be friends again, and went through phases as each other’s regular booty call.
But no matter what kind of relationship you two tried to have, it would end shortly after it started and you’d go a long period without speaking.
Now, to be fair, it wasn’t always Eddie who ended things. You ended it your fair share of times, too. If something wasn’t working or making you happy, you had no problem with removing yourself from a situation and moving on, even when it came to him.
But, no matter who ended it, every time the two of you parted ways, it was always over something that didn’t really matter in the long run. It was never anything big, nothing serious, nothing that should permanently kill a relationship. And while you two were madly in love with each other, you were always at different places in life. It was the never right time.
Eventually, you found yourself in a relationship for nearly four years and lost all contact with Eddie for the duration of it. But one particularly rough night near the end of it, you found yourself having a pretty drastic realization. The only time you had ever been happy with someone, really truly happy and not just lying to yourself, was with Eddie.
Unbeknownst to you at the time, Eddie had the exact same realization roughly in the same time period after getting ditched by his date at a party where he knew no one and had no ride home since he rode with his date. He ended up having to call Steve to come rescue him.
A few weeks later, while you were working up the courage to reach out to Eddie, he made contact with you first.
That was a little over three years ago. You two had been together ever since.
But just because you two hadn’t broken up yet didn’t mean things had been easy. The biggest drawback to finally getting with someone you’ve been on and off with for years is the abandonment issues you both have left over from all those breakups before. After three years, and a lot of communication, you two had made a lot of progress, though it was still something you two were actively working on, tackling things together whenever they came up.
But one thing you had never worried about with Eddie was cheating. Eddie was the one person you always trusted implicitly. You actually had more of a sordid past than he did, having cheated on multiple partners while he said he had never cheated on even one. You believed him. Even the mere idea of him cheating never crossed your mind.
By this point, Eddie had completely discarded what he was working on at the back of the van to scramble up on his knees to where you were seated sideways in the passenger seat. He looked absolutely panicked, his eyes wide and filled with fear as he gazed into yours.
“Please, please believe me, Y/N,” Eddie said, cupping your face in his hands, his voice cracking. “I would never, ever do that to anyone, but especially not you.”
He looked so scared, so terrified, his tone heavy with a desperate plea.
And it was at that exact moment you started laughing.
It wasn’t just any kind of laugh, it was one of those laughing fits that soon had you nearly doubled over with tears streaming down your face.
Eddie leaned back a bit in surprise, his hands dropping down from your face to rest on your shoulders. A worried crease appeared between his eyebrows. He didn’t say anything until after your laughter had calmed down, just watched you with a helpless look on his face.
“Sweetheart?” he said, tentatively reached up with one hand to touch your cheek again lightly. “What-“
The question was cut off when you grabbed a handful of his shirt, pulled him closer and kissed him.
Eddie was so stunned he didn’t even kiss you back.
As you pulled away, you took one look at his expression, which was now a mixture of worry, panic, shock and now the fear that you’d finally lost it, and you could feel the laughing fit rising up again. You managed to suppress it down to a fit of giggles.
“They’re mine, you dumbass,” you said, giggling madly and grinning at him.
All of the expressions on Eddie’s face were instantly wiped away and replaced by one of deep confusion.
“Yours?”
You nodded.
Once you had realized what it was that you were holding, you instantly recognized the pair and remembered the night you lost them. You were just surprised he still had them after all this time. It happened many years ago during the second attempt you two made to date.
The two of you had gone to a friend’s birthday party together, making a date of it. As soon as you got in the van when he picked you up, the air had been sparking. It was the first time you had seen each other in a couple of months and the energy between you was electric, the sexual tension as strong as you’d ever felt it.
You both had known days ago when you made these plans how this night would end. If there was one thing you and Eddie had always, always been in perfect sync on, it was sex. Your energies matched perfectly, your bodies fit together as if they were made for each other. The intense passion mixed with rabid lust was always earth shaking. After your first night together, it was almost like you craved each other.
The two of you spent most of the party teasing each other. When the two of you finally left, Eddie couldn’t wait to get back to your place, much less into the back of his van. He pulled over to park on a secluded road and barely got it into park before he was dragging you over to straddle him in the driver’s seat. It was a bit tricky getting your pants off, but the two of you managed, only honking the horn a couple of times in the process. For whatever reason, you didn’t take your panties off at the same time, and they were soon ripped off you.
While you knew that probably wouldn’t jog his memory right away if you told him all that, you knew one particular thing about that night that definitely would.
“Remember when we discovered I like being choked?” you asked, grinning.
It only took a second before Eddie completely relaxed and his face broke into a wide grin.
“Holy shit,” he said, his eyes lighting up with the memory.
Shortly after Eddie ripped your panties off, you had been riding him when he suddenly grabbed you by the throat and leaned you back against the steering wheel to arch your chest out towards him. It was the first time anyone had ever grabbed you by the throat and you absolutely loved it. This became immediately obvious to Eddie when you cried out and clenched around him in a surprise orgasm. He wasn’t too far behind you after that.
“Now I remember,” he said, taking the pair of torn panties from you to look them over. “When I was leaving your place the next day, I saw them on the floorboard. I thought about going back in to give them to you but decided to keep them.”
To anyone else, that would’ve sounded weird, but for you, it made your heart skip a beat.
“Why?” you asked.
Eddie shrugged, a regretful look on his face as he looked up to meet your gaze.
“I was already freaking out again about how much I felt for you,” he said. “And I knew I was fixing to run away again because of it.” He shrugged again. “So, I wanted to make sure I had something of yours when that happened.”
Just a few days after that party, Eddie had suddenly stopped speaking to you again.
You smiled softly, and reached out to brush some stray curls out of his face.
“Good thing we don’t have to worry about that anymore, huh?” you said, then leaned forward to kiss him again, which he eagerly returned this time.
“Yup,” he agreed, then grinned. “We’re on a lease together and now a car loan. You’re kinda stuck with me.”
“And there’s no one else I’d rather be stuck with,” you said happily.
After another slow, deep kiss, Eddie looked back down at the torn panties in his hand and grinned.
You watched as he balled them back up and leaned to one side so he could shove them into his pocket.
“Seriously?” you said, then laughed and pointed in the direction of your shared apartment. “You do realize I have a whole drawer full of those, right?”
“Believe me, I know,” he said, smirking. “But you always throw the torn ones away before I get the chance to grab a pair.”
Now that one got an eyebrow raise out of you.
“Why in the hell would you want a torn pair?” you asked, a bit confused by the idea since you couldn’t wear them again.
“Because these I’ve actually torn off to fuck you,” he said. “That means they’re lucky.”
You started laughing.
“Wait a second,” you said, a grin on your face. “Because you got lucky means they are lucky?”
“Hell yeah it does,” he grinned, then started moving back towards the area of the van he was working on. “And since you got lucky too that night, I’d say that makes them lucky for both of us.”
It was a pretty sound thread of Eddie Logic that was hard to argue.
The two of you went back to cleaning and it was a few minutes before either of you spoke again.
“Hey Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“You do know that if you find any others that aren’t yours, they were from before us, right?”
You turned and found him looking at you from the back of the van, a worried expression on his face.
You had never once worried about Eddie cheating on you, you certainly weren’t about to start now.
“Don’t worry, baby, I know,” you said, smiling warmly at him before switching to a playful grin. “But I will make fun of you for it if I do.”
Eddie started laughing.
“That’s fine by me, sweetheart,” he said grinning at you.
In the end, that was the only pair of panties either of you found while cleaning out the van.

Unpopular tron opinion (at least in the part of tronblr I'm in): Clu was not blameless. Yes Flynn gave him a flawed directive but that doesn't excuse the genocide and lengths he went to "follow his directive". With a function as vague as that, Clu enacted perfection in different ways but he chose to kill and destroy. I think a lot of times the Fandom lets him off the hook and blame Flynn. Just my opinion tho
tron confessional with moss
oh biiiiig agree. lotta parts to this but I'll try to keep my thoughts relatively concise
it's a problem I see in a lot of fandoms -- a tendency to fixate on a protagonist's shortcomings to the point of flat out claiming that they're a horrible person worse than the villains, while at the same time excusing a lot of the antagonist's actions for [insert thinly justifiable motive here]. and I'd love to analyze why this happens. are people just completely unwilling to admit that the "good guys" have critical flaws because they don't want to admit that real people are also flawed? are the actions of an antagonist usually so overtly Evil that it somehow makes them easier to stomach than the oftentimes lesser but more realistic mistakes of a protagonist? or has fandom just lost sight of the fact that characters are vehicles for storytelling and they need to have flaws in order to drive the narrative?
ANYWAY
yeah lol
one of the things that always struck me about Clu, personally, was how vindictive a lot of his actions come across? I always got the sense that his retaliation against the ISOs was personal just as much as it was directive-driven -- in the same way that he clearly wanted to make an Event out of killing Sam in the lightcycle arena. he wants to destroy the things that Flynn cares about, that Flynn loves, the things that distracted him and took his focus away from the Grid. and yes as a system admin it's obviously his job to prioritize the Grid and make it perfect efficient etc. but. the whole franchise is about the fact that programs have thoughts and emotions of their own and can exist outside of their function. so like you said, I think to reduce it to Clu just obeying his written purpose is just that -- reductive. Basics have free will, and I 100% think that what Clu did was a choice.
and circling briefly back to Flynn, I've always felt like the fandom is unfairly harsh on him. yes he made mistakes but again that is the point. of storytelling. and I could spend paragraphs talking about Flynn as a character and why I think he's well written and not a bad person, but that's a whole other level of unpopular opinion

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday dealt another setback to organized labor by making it easier for employers to sue over strikes that cause property destruction in a ruling siding with a concrete business in Washington state that sued the union representing its truck drivers after a work stoppage.[...]
The 8-1 decision overturned a lower court's ruling that said the lawsuit filed by Glacier Northwest Inc [...] was preempted by a U.S. law called the National Labor Relations Act. [...]
A group of drivers went on strike while their mixing trucks were filled with concrete. Although the drivers kept their mixing drums rotating to delay the concrete from hardening and damaging the vehicles, the company was forced to discard the unused product at a financial loss. The Washington state Supreme Court in 2021 ruled that the company's claims were preempted by a statute called the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), saying the company's loss of concrete was incidental to a strike that could be considered arguably protected under federal labor law. Conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who wrote the ruling, said the union's actions had not only destroyed the concrete but had also "posed a risk of foreseeable, aggravated and imminent harm to Glacier's trucks."[...]
President Joe Biden's administration [which is "the most pro-union President leading the most pro-union administration in American history"] had urged the justices to reverse the lower court's decision, allowing Glacier Northwest's lawsuit to proceed.

The Israeli attack on a humanitarian convoy in Gaza in early April that killed seven aid workers with the U.S.-based aid group World Central Kitchen has ignited a fierce global backlash against Israel’s policies of engagement in the territory. The attack involved the successive firing of three missiles at three vehicles, driven by suspicions of a Hamas combatant’s presence within the convoy, according to reports.
In Israel, the event is being portrayed as an accident, “a grave mistake stemming from a serious failure due to a mistaken identification, errors in decision-making, and an attack contrary to the Standard Operating Procedures,” as the Israeli military’s investigation team concluded. In humanitarian circles, it is seen as evidence of a culture that “treats Gaza as a free-fire zone with total impunity for gross attacks on civilians,” as Jeremy Konyndyk, the president of Refugees International who served in both the Obama and Biden administrations, has suggested.
But for the discussion to be useful, it should progress beyond these immediate interpretations to examine the deeper cultural patterns underlying such incidents. Most crucially, it must scrutinize the shift in military policy and ethos that can be traced back to the Elor Azaria affair of 2016-17. Azaria was an Israeli conscript who was captured on video executing a wounded and immobilized Palestinian assailant in Hebron. The Israeli military prosecuted Azaria for manslaughter and sentenced him to 18 months in prison.
While the case demonstrated the military’s commitment to its own ethical codes, it also sparked widespread protests from right-wing factions and a general backlash against military procedures. The army was accused of failing to support Azaria and creating a culture in which soldiers would hesitate to use force against Palestinian militants. To counter this claim, and from that point forward, the military began to announce the number of Palestinian fighters killed in its operations, demonstrating that its forces did not hesitate to engage.
Under the leadership of the military’s chief of staff, Aviv Kochavi, from 2019 to 2023, the killing-based criteria were reinforced. Kochavi’s goal was to remake the army into a “lethal, efficient, and innovative” fighting force—in other words, a death-generating army. He promoted this vision by enhancing the precision of weapon systems, improving the coordination between forces and intelligence, and increasing the rate of fire.
Kochavi’s directive for field commanders to assess, at the end of each combat phase, the number of enemy forces killed and objectives destroyed—rather than solely focusing on territorial conquest—signified a shift toward necrotactics, where the primary goal of military engagement is killing the enemy. Killing becomes not just an outcome of warfare but its principal aim.
The approach of using body counts as a metric of success has notably intensified during the current war. Soon after the Oct. 7 attack, the Israeli military began consistently reporting the number of Hamas fighters killed, echoing the way U.S. generals announced enemy fatalities during the Vietnam War—a scenario where traditional metrics for evaluating combat success are elusive, thus making the body count, rather than the strategic objectives achieved, the primary indicator of success. This was particularly evident as the Israeli death toll ticked up and the stated objective of dismantling Hamas appeared increasingly unattainable.
In fact, the military appears to have established a quantitative goal from the outset. According to the journalist Yuval Abraham in +972 Magazine, the Israeli army developed an artificial intelligence-based program named Lavender, designed to identify targets for assassination. This system tagged approximately 37,000 Palestinians in Gaza as suspected militants, marking their residences (and therefore their families as well) for potential airstrikes. The deployment of Lavender contributed to the deaths of around 15,000 Palestinians in the war’s first six weeks, according to the report.
By setting a numerical target, the Israeli military shifted from viewing outcomes as a measure of progress—like neutralizing the threat posed to Israel from Gaza—to making body counts the main standard. The trend has been reinforced by a pervasive adoption of the language of killing among military commanders. “Now we will go forward and kill them all,” Brig. Gen. Roman Goffman was quoted as saying just before the ground operation in Gaza began, in just one prominent example.
As Israel faces an impasse in Gaza, lacking a politically articulated exit strategy, the reliance on killing and its quantification as a metric for success becomes increasingly pronounced, leading to the erosion of operational constraints. This shift was evident in the recent raid at Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, which inflicted extensive damage to Gaza’s most crucial health care infrastructure. The hunt for Hamas members has, to a significant degree, become an end in itself, complicating the dynamics of the conflict and placing military objectives above political resolutions.
This shift provides some context for the tragic killing of the aid convoy team—though it makes it no less disturbing. Once one or two armed individuals were spotted in the convoy, their neutralization became a top priority, apparently eclipsing overarching strategic considerations—factors that should have been incorporated at the tactical level. Fundamentally, such a situation warranted an approach aimed at preventing civilian casualties, especially along a deconflicted route designated for humanitarian aid delivery and when no direct threat was posed to Israeli troops. Moreover, the overarching political rationale should have prioritized safeguarding humanitarian missions, given the potential repercussions for Israel’s global standing amid the crisis in Gaza.
Yet the events unfolded with a seeming obsession for lethal action, as vividly illustrated by reporting in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz: Upon spotting a gunman or two, Israeli forces targeted three successive vehicles from the air. After the first one was hit, passengers moved to a second vehicle, which was then struck by a missile. And when the wounded were transferred to a third vehicle, it too was fired on. This appears to be a case of obsessive kill confirmation, overshadowing the principles of necessity, proportionality, and the sanctity of civilian life.
Hence, the fundamental issue extends beyond merely revising the rules of engagement or monitoring their application more closely, as such measures alone would prove inadequate to prevent future incidents. The problem also transcends the flawed assumption that every part of Gaza can be considered a free-fire zone where engaging Palestinian militants indiscriminately is justified. What is crucial is dismantling the prevailing culture that equates killing with military success.

🚨 One month of ongoing ethnic cleansing and genocide by the Israeli occupation forces on the northern Gaza Strip, resulting in over 1,800 martyrs, 4,000 injured, and widespread destruction of hospitals and infrastructure.
For an entire month, the Israeli occupation forces have continued their intense and multifaceted land, air, and sea aggression on the northern Gaza Strip, targeting Jabalia camp, Jabalia city, Jabalia Nazla, Beit Lahia, Beit Lahia project, Beit Hanoun, and the surrounding areas. This relentless assault has claimed the lives of over 1,800 people, wounded 4,000, left hundreds missing, and caused the complete destruction of all hospitals in northern Gaza, rendering them non-operational. Civil defense teams have also been targeted, with some personnel arrested, leaving these services crippled. Additionally, essential infrastructure, including water networks, sewage systems, roads, and streets, has been destroyed, turning northern Gaza into a fully devastated area in every sense of the word.
This brutal and barbaric assault by the Israeli occupation on civilians, residential neighborhoods, shelters, and displacement centers, resulting in the killing and injuring of hundreds of displaced people, and the forced eviction of thousands from their homes, confirms without a doubt the occupation’s malicious plans to exact revenge on our Palestinian people and forcibly displace them once again, echoing the events of 1948. These plans are carried out with American backing and a green light for further massacres, killing, and genocide.
The aggression has not stopped there; the occupation has extended its crimes against humanity by using starvation and thirst as weapons, preventing 3,800 trucks carrying aid and goods from entering northern Gaza. This has left nearly 400,000 people, including over 100,000 children, deprived of food, water, medicine, and baby formula. The occupation forces have also targeted and destroyed dozens of displacement centers housing tens of thousands of civilians who had fled their homes seeking safety. Instead, they found death by various means of the occupation, including fighter jets, drones, snipers, field executions, tank and vehicle crushing, planted explosives, house demolitions, mosque and institution destruction, and shelling of hospitals, marketplaces, and other public areas, leading to the cold-blooded killing of hundreds and the complete denial of humanitarian services. Medical teams have been denied food, detained, tortured, and prevented from administering polio vaccinations.
⭕ *The horrors our Palestinian people are enduring defy reason and logic. If major countries faced what Gaza endures, they would collapse in weeks. In light of this, we emphasize the following:*
First: We condemn the Israeli occupation’s crimes against humanity, including massacres and genocide targeting tens of thousands of civilians, children, and women deliberately in northern Gaza. We call on all nations worldwide to denounce these horrific massacres against residential neighborhoods, civilians, hospitals, medical teams, mosques, and other civilian institutions.
Second: We hold the Israeli occupation, along with the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and other countries complicit in this genocide, fully accountable for continuing the war and the crime of genocide against our Palestinian people, particularly the systematic extermination and killing in northern Gaza.
Third: We call upon the international community and all international organizations to fulfill their duties, adhere to international law and humanitarian principles, provide humanitarian, medical, and civil protection for all hospitals, institutions, and residential neighborhoods, and to pressure the Israeli occupation by all means to end these atrocious and inhumane crimes, especially the crime of genocide against unarmed civilians in Gaza and, specifically, in northern Gaza.
Glory and eternity to our martyrs
Full recovery for our courageous wounded
Complete freedom for our brave prisoners in occupation jail
And all greetings to our great Palestinian people

I think one of the biggest Chekhov's guns in the entirety of bnha is the fact that the League got to where it is thanks to Stain even though Stain was never part of the League of Villains.
The League's reputation is built off a lie that the organization wants to take down fake heroes and right the wrong in the corrupt hero society because people assume Stain was a member of the League when the actual goals of the League are far more simplistic, one-dimensional and selfish than Stain's. All Shigaraki wants is to lash out and mindlessly destroy everything in his path and All For One the actual mastermind behind the League is using the organization as a vehicle to retrieve his brother's quirk and rule over Japan like he did before All Might punched his face off.
In my opinion, the perfect moment when this could have been revealed was after AFO broke out of prison and in order to isolate Shigaraki, so none of his friends interfere with or try to stop the merger, AFO shows them a video caught on camera of Stain and Shigaraki's interaction in the bar. Immediately shattering the bonds formed within the League in his absence by showing them that Shigaraki had been lying to them the entire time with no intention of telling the truth to them. AFO would add salt to the wound and say that Shigaraki never cared or even thought about heteromorph discrimination, quirk marriages, heroes abusing their family, quirk discrimination or the bogus quirk counselling system.
I feel like Spinner and Toga would take this the worst.
Sorry if this sounds like I'm putting Stain on a pedestal. I'm not really a big fan of him and don't think he's as complex as Horikoshi wanted us to belive at the time of the Stain arc.
Please don't apologize, I love Stain! And sorry I got to this so late. I wanted to answer it carefully.
I've touched on this lightly before, but there's a certain... disparity when it comes to Stain and the LOV. That is, that Horikoshi tends to ignore that he's the reason Dabi and Toga joined. I've made a few posts on the regression of their characters during the progression of the series and apart of that is Horikoshi completely casting aside what Stain said.
Stain claims hero society is corrupt, but has no credence to this other than the fact that he claims Izuku and All Might as true heroes. We, the audience, know he must be at least partly right, but in-universe he's made out to be an extremist because he never went after, say, Endeavor or the HPSC (you could include Hawks as part of this if you wanted).
This is a repeated issue with Horikoshi not supporting his own thesis within his story. Quirkless people are a minority and born "unequal," but we never see anyone suffer the ramifications of this outside of Izuku. The HPSC is rearing literal child assassins but we're gonna have the main victim of this continue to support and work for them (oh and he also idolizes an abuser despite having an abusive parent). The students are struggling with being constantly attacked by villains, but we're gonna ignore their trauma with a festival! Oh, and then we're gonna send them to war. A top hero was revealed to be an abuser and sex trafficker but it's fine because nearly all of his colleagues and victims support him.
Horikoshi refuses to dive deeper (or at all) into these themes. I don't know if it's because he's simply unequipped to handle them or if going into these things will make his favorites (Aizawa, Bakugou, Endeavor) look bad.
Where am I going with this?
Horikoshi refusing to actually address these things means that the characters centered around them- Stain, Dabi, Toga, Spinner, Hawks, Izuku, etc.- lose complexity. Their stories aren't being supported by the narrative that introduced them.
So it doesn't matter that the LOV wasn't actually aligned with Stain because- at least for Toga and Dabi- Stain isn't as big a part of their characters as he previously was. Dabi's goals completely pivoted from what they were established to be and Toga was simplified a lot as a character.
(Twice's death was a great opportunity for Toga to revisit Stain. Where she differs from Dabi is that she idolized Stain because she felt a kinship with him due to their quirks. For someone who was shunned for her quirk, she joined the LOV simply to find others like her. Twice's death could have been the moment she really started to understand what he stood for. But Horikoshi can't be bothered)
Spinner is a little different because he does seem to still carry Stain's ideals, but in my honest opinion you could say that he completely lost sight of them. The shift to idolizing Shigaraki can be seen as symbolic of his ideals being completely skewed from what they once were. Which could have been a fine descent arc, but the execution wasn't done well.
My point is, even if it was revealed, the LOV were so regressed from how they were introduced that I doubt it would have mattered. Dabi wouldn't care (which honestly would have been true either way because he clocked that Shigaraki had no plan from the very beginning), Toga never really understood Stain in the first place, and Spinner lost sight of what Stain stood for

hey when they wrote "knight behind bars" and they wrote kitt helping a couple get together and they gave him the line "Some day, it will be my turn" [to find love]. did they know what they were doing. did they know that in some 40 years some gay autistic robot-obsessed little freak on tumblr would not stop thinking about it for weeks and write literal dozens of paragraphs screaming about it on discord. did they know they were going to ruin Me, Specifically, with this concept that feels like the culmination of everything kitt has gone through through the show and such a fascinating thing to think about in regards to michael and kitt's relationship,
one of the themes of knight rider is kitt developing as a Person, developing a line between the Knight Industries Two-Thousand, and Kitt. discovering humanity, his own emotions, the joys of the seemingly and logically pointless, and often through the lens of his own driver, his partner, his friend, Michael - his primary guide through all these experiences, his reference for those human things he doesn't understand. and as much as he initially claims to not be capable of experiencing emotions, of understanding feelings, he learns to. he experiences a wide range of emotions through the show even while claiming he doesn't, he even learns fear and insecurity. perhaps it's only natural a robot would learn to love, or at the very least be terribly curious about it and wonder if such a thing could ever exist for Him
the majority of people are not exactly kind to kitt. they talk about him like he's not there, they talk about him like he's a machine, a novelty, some people are even scared of or disturbed by him when all he's trying to do is make polite conversation and company. he's always Othered - there's no other cars like him (at least not anymore), but there's no other person like him either, he doesn't truly belong among humans or vehicles. some of the technicians at FLAG don't even seem to fully respect him as a person, at least they don't based on my vague recollection of how they talk about him in Junkyard Dog. when Michael asks him after KARR is destroyed if it feels good to be one of a kind again, he doesn't say yes or no - he only says it's a "familiar feeling." it may be familiar, but it's surely also isolating, and i think that's something he'd realize as he slowly picks up this curiosity about love. where could he even find it when so few people see him as an equal person to begin with?
and then there's michael. oh my god, and then there's michael. no matter what flavor you choose to read it in, the whole show is about their relationship, they're a duo, a set Not to be separated, they're Partners. they work together, they worry about and look after each other (forever insane about when kitt was a melted shell, Michael stuck around the garage for hours, waiting for any news like a worried spouse, constantly checking on him every opportunity he got... encouraging him to recover, and even helping paint back on his protective coating... kitt always looks after michael, but for once, it's michael's turn to look after Him), in a way they were Made for each other - Kitt more literally, being programmed for Michael and holding his namesake, but Michael was also made in a sense for the pilot program, hand picked and given a second life to work for the foundation and with this strange supercar. and even if they had a rocky start, michael comes to view kitt as a person - car, TV set, or computer core, Kitt is his partner, his buddy. he helps him find himself, guides him and teaches him about these things that make us human, and in a way, kitt becomes human - but his entire experience is still through the perspective of an AI in a car, it's still very unique and isolating, and I think he sort of grows into his own limitations, he's finally brushing against the walls that define him.
he learns of love, and then he learns to dream Of love. these things he sees in the movies, that michael tells him about, that he so often sees michael Partaking in that he gets so oddly jealous of, doesn't it all seem so wonderful? he's very curious. but who could ever love steel and circuitry, who could ever see him as an equal let alone a partner in a romantic sense? who would ever love a car and all the limitations That comes with? it's a problem for a hypothetical hopeful Some Day, in the meantime stuck between two worlds where he doesn't perfectly belong to either, where no car Can love him and no human seemingly Would love him...
and michael loves him anyway. before either of them really realize or talk about it, in spite of everything, in any form, regardless of the fact it wouldn't be a typical relationship by absolutely any means, michael loves him anyway. kitt is as much a person to him as bonnie or devon or RC, and that person is someone he loves and cares for deeply. the feeling is mutual, kitt's world revolves around michael, he's one of the most important people in kitt's life, and he'd do anything to protect him.
and it is michael that will finally teach him to love, and what it means to feel loved in turn, to be loved as the person he undoubtedly is.

[ 📹 Scenes from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, where the dead and wounded, including children, were taken following violent Israeli airstrikes targeting residential homes in the Bureij Refugee Camp. ]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🏘️💥🚑 🚨
252 DAYS OF GENOCIDE: ZIONIST US PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN CLAIMS HAMAS RESPONSIBLE FOR LACK OF CEASEFIRE DEAL AS ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER SAYS NO DEAL WILL STOP THEIR WAR ON HAMAS, ANOTHER PALESTINIAN CHILD DIES OF STARVATION IN GAZA, GENOCIDE GOES ON ENDLESSLY AS RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS CONTINUE TO BE TARGETED
On 252nd day of the Israeli occupation's ongoing special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 4 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 34 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, while another 71 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.
It should be noted that as a result of the constant Israeli bombardment of Gaza's healthcare system, infrastructure, residential and commercial buildings, local paramedic and civil defense crews are unable to recover countless hundreds, even thousands, of victims who remain trapped under the rubble, or who's bodies remain strewn across the streets of Gaza.
This leaves the official death toll vastly undercounted as Gaza's healthcare officials are unable to accurately tally those killed and maimed in this genocide, which must be kept in mind when considering the scale of the mass murder.
US President Joe Biden, speaking at the Group of Seven Summit being held in Italy, said on Thursday that he does not have confidence that a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal could be reached in the immediate future, blaming Hamas for the failure to reach a deal, and absolving the Israeli occupation of having to make sacrifices in its negotiations with the Palestinian resistance movement.
The US President continued, stating that "I have not lost hope, but it will be difficult."
" Hamas... must take action," Biden added.
Following his comments, Biden later went on to say that Hamas was "by far the biggest obstacle" to reaching a ceasefire agreement.
“I presented a proposal that was approved by the Security Council, the G7, and the Israelis, and the biggest obstacle so far is Hamas, which refuses to sign even though they proposed something similar," President Biden claimed.
Previously, the Hamas resistance movement welcomed the US President's proposal for a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal, telling reporters that the group viewed the deal "positively" before making adjustments to the timetable for the deal and seeking commitments from the Zionist entity and the United States that the Israeli occupation wouldn't continue its operations in Gaza once its hostages were released.
Earlier, US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, told reporters that the Israeli occupation was committed to the ceasefire proposal, arguing that "Israel has supplied this proposal. It has been sitting on the table for some time. Israel has not contradicted or walked that back."
Hamas countered the plan by offering its own amendments, which Sullivan responded to by saying the goal is “to figure out how we work to bridge the remaining gaps and get to a deal.”
Despite the talk by US officials that the occupation is committed to the deal, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated his intention to continue the war, regardless of any ceasefire or hostage exchange deals, until the Hamas resistance group is "destroyed".
Additionally, US State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, claimed to the media on Thursday that the United States has not yet witnessed the Israeli occupation launch a "major military operation in the city of Rafah."
This despite countless videos and witness testimony claiming otherwise as the Israeli occupation forces advanced with its tanks and other armored vehicles, penetrating neighborhoods in the west, east, south and center of Rafah, while occupation warplanes hammered the city's residential buildings and public infrastructure, and while Zionist soldiers detonated entire residential blocks in the center of the city.
In other news, more than 23'000 litres (6'076 gallons) of fuel was allowed to enter the Gaza Strip over the last day in order to operate water wells in the Palestinian enclave.
According to the head of the local Water Authority, Mazen Ghoneim, 23 thousand litres of fuel entered Gaza from Thursday evening to Friday morning, allowing 20 water wells to resume operation, including 5 wells east of Gaza City, 2 water wells in the town of Beit Hanoun, 4 wells in the vicinity of Beit Lahiya, 9 wells in the Jabalia area, and 3 more in the Jabalia Refugee Camp.
In statement issued on Friday by the Water Authority, Ghoneim confirmed that in addition to attempting to provide potable drinking water under catastrophic conditions, the Authority was also seeking to reduce risks associated with sewage flows, to which the Authority allocated part of the fuel quantities to operate three sewage plants in the Birkat Abu Rashid area, in addition to the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood and the Al-Baqqara area of Gaza City.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued their massacres of Palestinian families by bombing and shelling various residential neighborhoods and public infrastructure across the Gaza Strip on Thursday night and Friday morning, resulting in the deaths of dozens of Palestinians and wounding scores of others.
On Thursday evening, an Israeli occupation drone bombed a gathering of Palestinian civilians on Kashko Street in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, resulting in the death of a citizen and wounding several others.
At the same time, Zionist warplanes bombed the Al-Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, killing one civilian and wounding at least four others, while another strike targeting in the vicinity of the Canada Well in the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, west of the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, killed two more civilians and wounded a number of others.
Similarly, in yet another criminal massacre, warplanes belonging to the Israeli occupation army fired two missiles into a house on Al-Nafaq Street in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of 11 civilians, with three children and three women among those killed, including the deaths of a woman and a child belonging to the Al-Shiekh family. The casualties were transported to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the city.
Israeli warplanes also bombed a residential house belonging to the Al-Bakri family, west of Gaza City, where displaced civilians from the Abu Odeh family were seeking shelter, killing three women and wounding a number of others. Included among the dead was a woman named Hakima who was part of the medical staff at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the city.
A civilian was also killed, and three others injured, as a result of the Israeli occupation's bombing of the Port of Gaza City.
Additionally, the slaughter continued when Israeli gunboats fired heavy machine guns off the coast of Khan Yunis, south of Gaza, killing two fisherman, while Zionist forces penetrating neighborhoods east of Rafah opened fire on civilians in the town of Al-Shouka, murdering two civilians and wounding several others. Occupation helicopters were also witnessed firing machine guns into the western neighborhoods of Rafah.
Elsewhere in the enclave, IOF fighter jets bombed a residential house in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyredom of one Palestinian and wounding a number of others.
Israeli artillery shelling also pummeled Al-Sika Street, in the east of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, which coincided with occupation artillery shelling in the vicinity of the school complex on Al-Mansoura Street, in the center of the Al-Shujaiya neighborhood, east of the city.
According to local medical staff, at least 20 Palestinian civilians were killed in Zionist raids on several areas of Gaza at dawn on Friday.
In more heartbreaking news, a child was killed after Zionist artillery detatchments, penetrating the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City, fired several shells into residential buildings in the neighborhood, while occupation fighter jets bombed civilian homes in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, wounding a number of people.
Also in central Gaza, Zionist airstrikes targeted a house belonging to the Abu Galambo family in the Bureij Refugee Camp, killing a child and wounding at least 10 others, while occupation warplanes bombed the town of Al-Mughraqa, in addition to the area of the Netzarim Junction, north of the Nuseirat Camp.
Meanwhile, local civil defense crews said they'd recovered the bodies of three martyrs from the Saudi neighborhood, west of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, while a civilian was assassinated by the bombardment of Zionist gunboats that targeted the port area of Khan Yunis, also south of Gaza.
In further news south of Gaza, witnesses told Palestinian media correspondants that the Israeli occupation army also continued its detonations of residential squares in the city of Rafah.
In the Shaboura Refugee Camp, in central Rafah, the Israeli occupation forces detonated and destroyed three entire residential squares, in addition to a fourth residential block in the Brazil neighborhood, east of Rafah.
Yet another atrocity was committed when the Zionist army bombed a house while it's residents were inspecting the damage to their homes resulting from prior bombing and shelling in the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah, resulting in the deaths of two Palestinian citizens, while Israeli fighter jets carried out further airstrikes and artillery shelling on areas of eastern and central Rafah.
IOF warplanes also bombed a civilian residence in the Al-Fokhari neighborhood, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, killing a young man.
North of Gaza, 14 civilians were killed, and others wounded, in two Israeli raids on central and western neighborhoods of Gaza City.
In more tragic news, medical sources from a local hospital announced the death of a Palestinian child as a result of starvation and dehydration, raising the number of deaths caused by malnutrition in the Gaza Strip to 40.
The medical source told Palestinian media outlet WAFA News that a child had died from malnutrition and dehydration, while a lack of medical supplies also contributed to the child's death while at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.
As a result of the Israeli occupation's ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, the infinitely rising death toll now exceeds 37'266 Palestinians killed, including upwards of 15'000 children and over 10'000 women, while another 85'102 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression, beginning with the events of October 7th, 2023.

Day 4: Cycles
Welcome back to prompt explainers, where we give you a more literal description of the prompt, as well as inspiration and examples!
You can find the original post with all of the prompts here. Today our topic will be heats and ruts.
This is the big one. One of the most iconic parts about the omegaverse, heats/ruts are an event that alphas and omegas go through (although in some canons betas can go through either or both). They can last anywhere between a few days to a week, and can occur once every couple of months (though the prevalence of each cycle can differ, up to once every 6 months). Heats and ruts do hold a few differences but the core concept is the same; its a period where one is very uncomfortable and really, really wants a mate. Or to mate. Or both. Usually both.
Before we go any further, the elephant in the room must be addressed: yes, this is a vehicle for characters to fuck nasty. The origins of omegaverse stem from wanting a way to explain away mpreg, and it follows that most omegaverse fics center around the existence of their cycles and the often explicit events that occur during them.
This is not to say that heats and ruts are ONLY for writing smut; there are several other takes on the subject that have it be more similar to irl afab's periods rather than a mating season extravaganza. Furthermore, one of they key parts of these cycles is that simply having someone around (though usually of a different secondary gender) is usually enough to stop the pain.
It's also not necessary to even focus on the actual cycle itself. They are often predated by periods where the effects of the cycle are lessened. During this time, a lot of preparation is made as they're left barely able to take care of themselves properly. Plans for going in mateless, trying to find a partner for the cycle, making sure the room they're in is equipped with food, water, blankets... there's a lot to do to make sure you don't destroy everything and yourself. The characters are often left very vulnerable after the events of their cycle, so there is a lot of room to explore the effects of heats or ruts outside of the actual events themselves.
For those not in the know, let's explain what a heat and rut actually are, starting with heats. This will be the full sexual version, but for those not interested in creating anything nsfw you can pick and choose effects at your discretion.
Heats are a mainly omega phenomenon, and tend to last longer and/or occur more frequently than their rut counterparts. During heats, omegas are at their most vulnerable; they make a nest (soft items such as blankets, pillows, and most importantly clothes covered in other's scents), and essentially writhe in it for upwards to a week. Their scent glands go crazy, leading them to "stink" up the room with their scent. Their slick glands go on overdrive, causing them to soak through everything they wear. Their bodies are almost always uncomfortable, with cramps and/or need for an alpha partner's knot. During heats is when claiming is often performed; in fact, in some canons its the only time it can happen. If a heat is experienced without a partner it will be near excruciating, with the character often begging for a partner (usually the person they're in love with), but it can be dealt with via toys and sheer will. Omegas will often use heat suppression medication to just avoid going through a heat altogether due to how miserable they can be without someone else to help you through it (though, this does mean that if one were to suddenly run out of said medication a heat will swiftly follow that can be exponentially worse than a regular one). It's also the period where instincts take over completely, as its the time where they're the most. Fertile. And names are thrown out the window and they revert to calling people by their second genders.
Ruts are similar to heats in most aspects, with the main difference being that it is an Alpha-dominant phenomenon where they get more territorial and dominating. They don't create nests or slick, but instead are more prone to violence and destruction. Ruts often involve knots refusing to deflate, and if another alpha comes near them they may try to bite their throat out as they see most people as threats. In a way they can be equally as vulnerable as characters undergoing heats, as they cannot control their instincts and the event is inevitable. While rut suppressors do exist (for those on the work grind and can't afford to lose precious work days) they are less popular due to ruts tending to be shorter and more infrequent. Alphas are sometimes afraid to ask others to be their rut partners, as they can get really rough and may accidentally hurt or try to claim their partner.
Heats and ruts can often be triggered by each other in a phenomenon sometimes referred to as a "complimentary heat/rut." In some canons it is a sympathetic reaction that mimics the effects of the cycle without being a full blown cycle, whereas in others it can trigger a cycle early and thus disrupting a character's schedule. This has lead to the common social practice of alphas and omegas to be separated the moment the scent of someone gets suspiciously strong. These cycles are seriously debilitating, so there is a priority in minimizing the effects as much as possible for everyone.
With all this talk of vulnerability, there does arise the question of consent during the cycles. While in some canons unconsenting parties going through a cycle can defend themselves from unwanted partners, it isn't exactly a universal rule. Furthermore, someone in the throes of a cycle will often ask people close by (such as roommates) to help them through their heat, but they are not in a clear state of mind. How you explore this topic is entirely up to you, but there are some things to think about here.
With the definition out of the way, here are some examples of fic ideas about cycles! Some of the prompts will combine the sub-prompts in the idea. (A little extra note, the "unrequited love" sub-prompt can be both pure unrequited love and not actually unrequited love)
An omega's heat suppressants unexpectedly run out, leaving them to find a partner quickly or make preparations to suffer through it alone
After a few months of being together, the pairing ask each other to be their partner in their upcoming cycle
An early rut causes their omega roommate's heat to suddenly trigger, causing both to become each other's partner
an alpha is secretly but deeply in love with their omega roommate. when they end up going into rut they trigger their roommate's heat after accidentally confessing to them
An omega is in love with their alpha friend but believes that they don't love them back. When their rut is close and they ask the omega to be their partner, they believe its only because they need a partner rather than because they love them.
A royal sailing to a different country is taken hostage by pirates, only for their (or perhaps the Captain's) heat to start
Still need some help? We have an inspiration board on Pinterest for each prompt! Find the one for cycles here.
We hope this helps you understand the prompt and think of some wonderful ideas! We can't wait to see what you post on October 16th!
#dteamomegaverse24#prompt explainers#🥛 admin#fun behind the scenes fact we assigned the sub prompts to each main prompt in a discord call#and one of us (the mod who wrote this) had the evil idea for the unrequited love sub prompt to be for this day
