I find it so so funny that Calus is the The Witness'new sugar baby when Xivu has been right there. Oryx got granted the power to Take. Savathun had the opportunity to be a Disciple but literally threw that opportunity into a bog. And now this new bozo with daughter issues is being showered in gifts and power and technology.

Rhulk didn't even get the shit Calus has now. He didn't get a Pyramid with his face on it. There's favoritism afoot.

I still am not over Calus in LF. The empty chalice he holds onto the entire time. He has everything he wanted. He is Emperor again. He has power. He has authority. His every command is obeyed. His ever whim is tended to. Any game or plaything he wants is at his disposal.

But it is a hollow victory for Calus. His cup does not runneth over. It is barren. For all the gold and opulence he has nothing. He is nothing. He has won but he has no one to share it with. There is no grand parties. No banquets in his name.

His Shadow Legion stand or prostrate in silence. They are clones who know only warfare. They do not know culture or substance or how to celebrate. They are husks. The Tormentors sent by the Witness are likewise silent monoliths. They do not speak in a way Calus can understand. They only stand by his throne, tethering him to the Witness as his 'guards'.

Calus 'won' in his own eyes but there are no banquets, there is no wine. His chalice is empty and will be forever until the same rage that took him to destroy himself in the first place takes him again. He crushes the chalice but it doesn't matter. He will always have that emptiness inside of him.

And then we kill him because we are supported by our allies, and he has nothing, and no one.

My first ever animated video is finally done!! It's been 2 straight months of hard work learning to animate and improving my video editing skills, and I'm super psyched to be able to share it with you all. Calus, reappearing as a glorified berserk villian: Finally, my look finally reflects my inner beauty!

Me, having to look at this: oh my light, what they hell have they done to him?

Pix, answering because he has seen this cutscene before: They made him like his inner beauty, didn't you hear?

Me, internally: He looks like a fucking piranha now! Wtf is his face?!

really really love how Destiny handles the topic of redemption and redemption arcs, because Destiny doesn't even bother with the question of "Have they earned it?" and instead asks "Do they want to change?"

For all the chances Calus has been given to turn back on the path he's on by us and even his own daughter who he abused, he never does. He's stuck in his ways and adamant that he's correct and dies for it, forgoing all the chances he's been given. Savathun was given a literal second chance with becoming a lightbearer, but chooses not to change a single thing.

Meanwhile, Eramis seems to be taking that chance (albeit very slowly lmao). She's at the other end with Calus during Beyond Light, but the deeper she finds herself in with the Witness, she starts to realize this isn’t what she wanted at all (personally I believe it started with seeing her dead eliksni friends being turned into scorn as a “gift” but it could easily be a multitude of things) and she takes the hand that Eido and Mithrax hold out to her. She’s done horrible things, of course, but it wouldn’t be a redemption if she hadn’t. Eramjs just needed to realize what she’d done and have the capacity to change.
