the fact i can’t go back and play so much of destiny2’s story makes me so sad

Rasputin from Destiny 2 is the most character ever to me. He slept through the apocalypse after realising there was nothing he could do about it, woke up, realised his son got alived and decided the best way to cope with that was to kill him again.

He’s an AI. He has angel symbolism. He was built to replace a god. He likes the arts. He used a customer service voice to tell his creator to fuck off. He used satellites as blunt force weapons. His theme is called “A God on Mars”. He wrote poetry. He’s fucking dead.

The most guy ever.

you ever think about how Osiris “grouchy old bastard recluse who rains down flaming death from above” was mentored by Felwinter, and we only recently discovered Felwinter was Rasputin, and therefore Osiris may be just now coming to the uncomfortable realization that there’s more of the Warmind in him than he’d like to admit

we are dragged out by saint-14(the one from are own timeline) having been revealed to have not died,

and therefore the saint is with us for the events of forsaken. cade-6 never dies however uldren and fikrul are also still alive (they become this timelines house of salvation, with help from the queen)

forge doesn’t change

the drifter mostly continues as normal but without the loss of cade-6 gambit never gains the large following it has and thus the drifter isn’t as well prepared, meaning he leaves the system in the middle of season of arrivals.

it takes a lot longer to deal with the events of shadow keep because of in-fighting between eris morn and cade-6, nezarec is able to manifest some form of influence over anyone near luna

the drifter’s part in beyond light was cut anyway, so it doesn’t matter he’s not there

rivan never dies, so the curse on the dreaming city never occurs and Savathûn isn’t able to build enough power to break free from the witness, the events of the witch queen never come to pass

at the end of the final shape it’s revealed that we never left the infinite forest and we have to do it all again

The idea is a while after sacrificing himself Rasputin gets rezzed and has the typical first day for a lightbearer in that he gets attacked by Fallen, the runs into Vex and because he's special he also runs into an Ahamkara that's hiding out in some caves.

His wish causes him and his ghost to get dropped in a warmind bunker in the past where he is immediately introduced to himself via combat frames and warsats trying to kill him. He manages to take control of some of the frames in a sort of tug-o-war with his past self which gives him time to overwrite some code to hide himself and then runs off in search of the Iron Lords.

He knows he's not experienced in his body for actual fighting and he still is unskilled with his light so he asks to join the Iron Lords as a student.

Then we get the fun parts with him trying to learn to be a better fighter, how to hone his light and secretly making plans to steal control of as many Seraph bunkers as he can from his past self.

Meanwhile he needs to befriend his son and the other iron lords to keep suspicions low and prove his worth so when they find out who he is Felwinter wont immediately turn him to dust.

Also figure out the catch from the wish before it bites him in the ass.

All before the Iron Lords find Site 6 and get themselves murdered by SIVA.

I am part of the way through the first chapter now so it'll probably get posted in the next few days. Keep an eye out for it if you'd like to read it!
