A/N: I know Dru is a old man but gosh he's such a cutie I cant help but love this character- hear me out-
Tumblr media
• Due to how Dru grew up with his father always reminding him of being a failure for every second of his life, he grew overly clingy to people who ever remotely liked him platonically or romantically. Was often left alone having no friends and all. He was homeschooled, so he did his own thing by himself as a kid since his father didn't allow anyone into the mansion without his say so. Let's just say his father was very distrusting with people, only person he could trust was Fritz.
• Dru is not really experienced in romance, but he does his best to learn how to be a perfect partner! Romantic encounters were always very rare for Dru, if you could even call them that… The so called few who were interested were only interested in money, you know, those type of toxic people. Those encounters still stick with Dru… often making him feel insecure and paranoid, since he gave his heart, mind, and soul to the people “interested” in him, seeing their interest in him as genuine.. He didn't read the room in time and got hurt in the end emotionally. Falls for people too quickly, an absolute hopeless romantic.
• Speaking of emotional, he's very emotional, more so then Gru who isn't really. Being emotional doesn't mean it's always a negative of course, but it definitely makes certain situations a bit more challenging for Dru.
• Persuading Dru romantically would be a challenge, since he's quite dense when it comes to love, and due to his past experiences with it as I explained - as friendly and sweet as he may seem, he keeps a lot of his true self tucked away, afraid of being hurt again, so I’ll be definitely a slow process before anything romantic would come about.
• Dru’s always down to be anyone's friend, but being romantically pursued or romantically seeking someone? Help the poor lad he doesn't know what to do or how to respond.
• Like he does with people he cares about, he also rubs his face against his lover…. way more often, and afterwards kisses. Continuous hugs, he’s needy and lonely. If his S/O isn't the physically affectionate type, well they better adapt. Dru’s a total cuddle bug. 100% his love language.
• Also gift giving too. He would go way overboard often. If he sees something his S/O likes he’ll look for anything else like it and buy it for them as a surprise. Always has treats he gives his S/O too making sure they're properly fed and loved. Being a gift giver Christmas and birthdays is his favourite times of the year.
• Dru started a tradition of dressing up as “evil” Santa and cause mischief around the neighbourhood for fun a week before Christmas. His nieces, mostly Edith, drag Dru’s S/O into their “festivities” causing mayham. Pretty innocent pranks and mischief.
• Dru may be considered a villan despite his villainous nature, but gosh he's so loving and protective. Pure and true and would never truly hurt anyone unless provoked to do so. Dru is just a thief with only some morals, well, close to morally grey but not really. If anyone hurt Dru’s family or S/O, though usually a coward, turns into a knight of shining armour. That's were his skills really come into play, usually holding himself back due to low confidence outside of that, he doesn't when it comes to protecting his loved ones.
• Still learning boundaries. If he has a not so physically affectionate partner, he can completely miss the boundaries quite a lot in the moment, oblivious to his partner's discomfort. Always profusely apologises after and making up for it by giving them space. He just can't help himself to be close to his S/O… he loves their touch.
• Same thing if his partner doesn't want to talk about something that's bothering them. Sometimes he can read the room of the tense vibes, so he often accidentally pressures his partner to share what's going on, not out of anything malicious he has good intentions even if it's not the best decision to choose at the moment, so communication is key for being in a relationship with Dru as he often misses social cues. Doesn't do it on purpose that's just how he is.
• If his S/O is sad, bothered, any uncomfy feeling, as Dru has done many times before, wallow in silence while eating ice cream in bed with them, or whatever his partner may like that's a comfort food for them.
• Supppperrr affectionate and sweet, very wholesome, obviously, also obnoxiously affectionate, but he always means well. Wants a family of his own one day. If his S/O doesn't he's fine with accepting that fact… yet it doesn't take away the fact that he’s a family man at heart, but would rather make his S/O happy if it meant not having one.
• Loves loves LOVES taking his S/O on dates. His favourites are when they're at the beach… or when they're doing a heist together as they're running for their lives with loads of loot with the help of minions. He sees it as a "romantic date” what a goober.

˗ˏˋ જ⁀➴ ˎˊ˗
It may be disturbing for some and horrifying to say, but your eyes hadn't even fully formed in the womb to open and your limbs weren't even well defined enough to have joints when your life was signed off to another's. For goodness' sake, it had barely even been a month since your tiny, minuscule heart started beating! What would the Song's have done if you grew up ugly?
You sighed to yourself, muttering under your breath how Korea's third richest family should be grateful you were akin to art in anyone's eyes. You were looking through the dusty photo albums that the housekeeper found while tidying the primary study of the mansion, and you grimaced at the photos of your fiancé that appeared from even the very first page.
It was bad enough that you were engaged before you were born, but did he really have to attend your birth? He probably didn't even have memories then! But there it was, under your fingertips: a perfectly preserved photo of a 3-month old Eunseok bundled up in sleep suit being posed next to where the nurses placed you after they literally just took you out of your mother. You don't even think the umbilical cord had been cut yet.
"Y/N, Mr. Song is outside," your favourite housekeeper coos at you from the double doors going into the study. You give her a terse smile and stand up from your father's office chair, straightening your silk gown before taking her hand as she helped you down the marble stairs of your home.
You roll your eyes (mostly to yourself, but you didn't mind if he noticed) as you saw his car parked at the bottom of the stairs leading to your front door.
"You can't even be bothered to come and collect me? Or open the door for me?" you sneer as soon as you settled yourself into the passenger seat.
"Well hello to you too, my lovely wife," Eunseok smirks, immediately revving and setting off around the fountain of your courtyard.
"I'm not your wife," you snap, deciding to ignore when the word 'yet' seems to slip under his breath, "But seriously Eunseok? This car? I'm going to look so stupid trying to get out of this car in my dress and heels. Why do you love sitting on the floor so much?"
Eunseok has an extensive car range. One that any car junkie would envy, but Song Eunseok knew nothing about cars. He just had them because he could. This car was a sports car where you had to sit in such a ridiculous position just so the car could look cool on the outside.
"It's white!" he defends himself, slightly whining in a cute way to which you swallow down a positive reaction. His eyes flicker over to you momentarily and his tongue traces across his bottom lip, "You look gorgeous, by the way. Very bridal."
You're wearing a white silk dress that looks like it's made for your body. It's draped so beautifully around your hips and hugs every part that needs to be accentuated. You loved this dress the second you saw it in Paris, but you never thought then that it would be used for this occasion.
"Just shut up and drive," you quip. It takes a few moments of silence for you to feel bad even though his expression remains neutral and you sigh, "I guess you don't look too bad."
"Aw, I knew you were in love with me!" he teases again, a phrase he liked to use every time you said something to him that wasn't snarky, sarcastic or an insult.
You choose not to reply, instead taking in the bright lights of Seoul as he pulls into a main road. You haven't been back in a while, holing yourself up in your penthouse in Manhattan, but you always loved the sight of home.
"But seriously, Y/N," Eunseok coughs to get your attention, his voice dropping down low and suddenly serious, "This actually might be your last chance to back out of this. Just say the word and I'll turn this car around and take you straight to Incheon and you can run away around the world long enough until they find me a new bride."
You turn to look at him, perplexed by his words, "And you? You actually want to get hitched off to some random?"
Eunseok shrugs, not meeting your eyes, "You're not some random. I've known you since you were born. I've known you'd be my wife since the day I could understand what that meant. But if I have to find a replacement because you don't want to do it anymore, I will."
"Gee, ever the gentleman," you deadpan, "I think want is a pretty strong word. I don't want to marry you, but I guess I will."
"You're not backing out? Not leaving me looking stupid up on the altar?" Eunseok taps his finger on the leather steering wheel.
You think about his words sincerely. There's really nothing more in the world that you'd love than to run away to a small little town on the southern coast of Italy- somewhere quaint and quiet where you'd find love and spend the rest of your days cooking, cleaning, baking and finding peace in the ocean. There's nothing more in the world that you want more than for someone to ask to marry you because they were in love with your soul and not having you by their side would be like torture in the cruelest form.
Alas, you're Kang Y/N of the powerful Kang family, the eldest child of your father and the next heir waiting to take over the conglomerate. And because you're Kang Y/N, the eldest daughter of the second richest family in Korea, you were contracted to marry the first son of the third richest family in Korea. After that, your companies would merge and you would overtake the Kim's as the sole ruler of the country.
"It's my duty," you swallow nervously as you begin to recognise the streets of where you were driving, signalling that you were soon approaching the venue, "It's fine, Eunseok."
"I wish it wasn't just fine. I wish this was what you wanted." he breathes out and your heart stops beating for a second before anger seeps in through the cracks of your heart.
"Do you think it's any girl's dream to marry someone that doesn't love them?"
Eunseok sighs as he presses on the breaks, moving through the lifted barrier where they had closed a portion of the street in anticipation for his car and your arrival. He twists his body to look at you, "Y/N-"
"It's fine, Eunseok," you grit your teeth as you repeat your words, eyes trained on the paparazzi camped out on the steps of the venue, eager to get a glimpse of you, "Let's just get this engagement party over with."
˗ˏˋ જ⁀➴ ˎˊ˗
Song Eunseok had to follow you around the world like a lost puppy.
When you said that you wanted to go to that boarding school in Switzerland where only the richest sent their kids, Eunseok was in the seat next to you on that first class flight. When you said that you were going to Oxford to study for your undergraduate degree, Eunseok was tossing away his dream to study at Harvard to join you getting drunk at 18 under the grey British sky. When you said that you wanted to do your masters at Columbia so you could live in New York City, Eunseok was moving into the apartment across yours while he worked at the company his dad created in New York just for him to have something to do there.
If you said jump, Eunseok had to say how high?
That was just the name of the game considering the Song's had more to gain from this arrangement. Your family was richer. Your family was in a greater range of industries. Your family's money went back a lot further than the Song's. And you- you were the most stunning woman in Eunseok's eyes and because of him, you were stripped of your choice to fall in love. That's why the Song family gave you princess treatment from the second you were able to demand things.
You had protested until your vocal cords went raw when they found out that they were sending Eunseok to university with you. For years up until you turned 18, you had imagined finally getting away from Eunseok for once, even if just for 3 years. He had always talked about Harvard and with the grades to boot, you thought that you'd finally have an ocean separating you.
It certainly wasn't an easy fight at the airport as you threatened to drop out of university the second that you even stepped foot into the new country. All your father did was bat his eyelashes and give you a heartfelt, "Please, princess? Just do this for us."
The phrase 'just do this for us' nearly knocked you sick nowadays after over 2 decades of hearing it spew out of your father's mouth. Ultimately, yes, you were lucky to have such a loving family that never pushed anything evil or truly despicable onto you. This was the one thing they needed from you. They obliged every want and wish for the trade-off of giving your hand in marriage to the Song's first born son.
In June of your third year of university, a couple months out from your graduation, Eunseok turned up at your door completely drunk.
"What are you doing here?" your arms were crossed tightly, trying to cover as much of yourself as possible as you were clad in the smallest pyjamas for the British summer heat.
He grinned goofily up at you, eyes lazily fluttering open and closed, "Hi, Y/N. I'm drunk." He was leaning against the doorway, nearly making out with the frame.
"I can see that," you sniffed the air and grimaced, "And smell it. But what are you doing here?"
"Can't I visit my lovely fiancée on her 21st birthday?" he batted his long eyelashes sweetly at you, taking one step into the apartment. You gazed at him hesitantly, taking one step back.
"I don't think anyone would appreciate their fiancé turning up on their doorstep piss drunk at 2am," you spat, "If you truly wanted to wish me a happy birthday, you would have left me alone."
"I lost my keys," Eunseok groaned, "I didn't know where else to go."
It should be sweet that out of all the places he could have chosen to go to in the city, he went to yours. Instead, it made you feel angrier.
"Eunseok, stop bothering me," your words contrasted your actions as you pulled him into your apartment and locked the door behind him, "Go sleep in the spare bedroom and leave as soon as you wake up. I'm going out for breakfast with my friends tomorrow so lock the door behind you and keep the key with you 'til you see me next." You pulled the spare key out of the drawer and placed it in his pocket.
Like a pathetic dog, Eunseok followed behind you as you led him through the apartment your parents had bought for you.
"Can I sleep with you?" he murmured.
"In your dreams, Song," you retorted, stopping in front of the spare room door, "Plus, you stink like shit."
"Ah, it's okay," he sighed dreamily, resting his head against the door, "We have the rest of forever to sleep beside each other."
You let out a frustrated screech, shoving his chest, "Can you let me live in peace? Why do you have to keep reminding me?"
"In the hopes that one day the thought of it won't make you sick or angry," he replied, opening the door of the room.
Your strong gaze faltered, "What are you- in love with me?"
"No," Eunseok shook his head, "I could learn to though, if you wanted me to."
"The only thing I want from you is to be far away from me," you ran your hands through your hair to soothe yourself, "And even that you can't do."
"I'm sorry, Y/N. Thanks for letting me stay," Eunseok gave up on his tyranny and dropped his voice, "Happy birthday."
You muster up a near half-smile, turning to return to your bed where you'd be tossing and turning until your alarm went off, "Goodnight Eunseok."
˗ˏˋ જ⁀➴ ˎˊ˗
The worst thing about your arrangement with Eunseok was that it was kept secret.
Of course, it was an open secret in your families and to the company- and there were always rumours about it since you two ended up always together around the world. But it wasn't like it was announced to the world at any point to protect the prospective merger happening when you and Eunseok came of age.
That made relationships very hard indeed. It always had to end in heartbreak, at least for the other person.
The two of you agreed that you could see other people if you wanted to, and you agreed on this the same day you had your very first heartbreak.
"Eunseok, can we talk?" you poked his side to catch his attention. Eunseok was bouncing his basketball up and down while he spoke with his friends just outside the school courts. It had been 2 months since you moved back to Korea after spending 3 years in Switzerland at boarding school, where you quickly became homesick. Eunseok followed you home immediately.
Your fiancé bid his friends goodbye and gave you a sweet smile, "Yeah of course. What's up?"
You led him to the adjacent square that was thankfully deserted and settled just under the bloomed cherry blossom tree in the middle, "Um."
Eunseok giggled at your hesitancy and pushed your hair behind your ear, "What is it?"
16 year old you blushed terrifically at that moment, highlighting your plump cheeks and shining eyes as Eunseok peered down at you.
"I know this is um, pretty stupid," you began, breaking his stare and looking down at your Prada loafers, "Well basically, my friend Jimin- you know Jimin?- she told me to-"
"Just say it, Y/N."
"I like you?"
It came out more of a question as you quirked your eyebrow up at your fiancé.
His eyes went wide, taking in a deep breath, "Y/N. You," he paused, "You like me?"
"Yeah," you exhaled, "Is that so bad? We're going to get married someday."
Eunseok looked around and noticed his friends turning the corner to the courtyard, presumably to look for him, "Look, Y/N, I'm sorry but I thought we were going to, you know, try experience life like how others do and meet people and do whatever we want to until they tell us we need to get married. I didn't think we were obliged to date."
Your eyes began to water and your lips began to quiver as sheer embarrassment sunk into your bones, "So what? You want to date around?"
Eunseok reached out to cup your face but you quickly took a step back, feeling humiliated and slightly bettayed, "I'm sorry Y/N. I didn't know you felt like this towards me. Look, can we talk later? I'll swing by your house after basketball practice, okay?"
From the ages of 0-16, you would say that you and Eunseok were close childhood friends. Even though you had no concept of marriage or love, your parents had forced the two of you to be together through every occasion with weekly play dates and attending the same schools. When you finally understood what being engaged to each other meant at around 12 years old, it made you swoon that you were going to spend the rest of your life with your best friend, who you'd always found endearingly cute. He became more handsome as the years went by and at 16, he was the object of all of your desires.
He was manly, he was protective, he was sporty and most of all, he treated you so well. He would run around town with you no question to go shopping and indulge you in all of your cravings even if you needed to have ice cream at 10pm in the dead of winter. He would take the train with you all around Switzerland to see different lakes and ski resorts. He would help you study in the library and pass you your favourite snacks whenever it seemed you were getting tired. He would give you his jacket on the breezy nights watching the local sports matches.
You were so blinded with your affection towards him that you had convinced yourself that he did those things because he liked you back. Because he wanted to treat his future wife well.
The day Eunseok stamped all over your little heart was the day you waged a one-sided war against him. Eventually, Eunseok began reciprocating your snarky attitude and the rest had been history.
You told your maids and house security to refuse entry to the grounds to Eunseok that night, but because of your parents' unconditional offer to Eunseok to make your house also his home, he had spent a good part of the night on the other side of your bedroom door trying to get you to open it so he could apologise. For a man you were once smitten for, it was easy to put on your headphones and drown him out until he got exhausted and left.
˗ˏˋ જ⁀➴ ˎˊ˗
Eunseok opens the car door for you and offers out his hand. In the darkness of his car, you grimace slightly, but force yourself to take his hand and use your free hand to smooth your dress out as you exit the car. The flashes from the press are blinding and carry on all the way up to the bottom of the staircase leading into the venue your parents had hired for the evening.
You try to keep a pleasant smile on your face as Eunseok passes his keys to the valet men before wrapping his arms around your waist. It comes nearly naturally to him, from all the photos your parents had made you pose together in dating back a decade or two. But it's your first official public appearance together, so the flashes intensify and you're taken aback. Eunseok feels you stumble slightly and begins to lead you along the carpet rolled out up to the stairs.
There's shouting from every direction- asking where your dress was from, asking if you were dating, asking why you were with the 'rival' company's son all the time- nothing new to you. After you traverse up the stairs, the two of you turn around and give a small wave at the cameras. You feel Eunseok drop his head down to yours, so you nestle yourself into him a bit more. How sweet, you thought to yourself, pushing down the urge to throw up at all this fakeness.
"Last chance to run," Eunseok murmurs as the doorman opens the glass doors into the foyer.
"Are you begging me to?" you counter, "Why do you keep insisting I back out?"
"I'm not. I just feel guilty, so I'll make up a solution if you want to stop all of this," he whispers into your ear. To others, it's an endearing moment as you keep your face neutral.
"It is all your fault. You should feel guilty. I'm not doing this for you or your family, but for my family. If this is what they want, then I'll oblige," you nod your head firmly.
While Eunseok's family was definitely benefiting more from the merger, it did come with some advantages for your family too: less competition in the market, combined success superseding the current top conglomerate, and for your parents: the knowledge that their first born child was going to have someone that was born to and raised from a good and rich family- someone that would be able to take care of you no matter what and understand your life in a way no other civilian could.
You know that your parents' argument for you to marry this guy was weak- there were plenty of good, rich guys from other companies- but you had been happy with the arrangement at the start and by the time you were 16 and he was breaking your heart, the companies had already started slowly merging or putting the plans into place. It was honestly a shame to your parents that other than rejecting you, Eunseok really had no faults. He was always polite, always courteous and intelligent enough to take over the conglomerate with you when the time would come.
Eunseok drops his arm from your waist, instead sliding his finger between yours.
"Miss. Y/L/N, Mr. Song," your family's general assistant approaches you in the foyer with a tight smile, "The event is about to begin. Please follow me to the stage. Are your speeches prepared?"
"Mhm," you hum, tugging Eunseok with you behind your assistant, "The rest of the family are here?"
"Yes. They're waiting by the stage," she replies as nerves finally settle into your stomach. You suddenly can't even look at Eunseok anymore as the gravity of the situation clicks into your mind. After this, you were going to be officially engaged in front of the world and you were going to be his bride in no less than a year from now. There was no turning back anymore.
Eunseok has to shoot you a look to stop you shaking on the stage as your father and his begin their speeches about their company, and the new era and blah, blah, blah. You tune them out in order to focus on your breathing and make sure you don't barf the second you step up to the podium. After minutes of nonsense, you feel Eunseok place his hand on the small of your back, signalling you to take to the stand.
"Um," you began, suddenly losing all the lessons you had learned in your public speaking classes growing up, "Thank you all for joining us on this occassion. As my father said, we are transitioning into a new era of our company and as I take on the role of COO, we believe it's important to have good people by your side to support you. While my family and the Songs are joining together in business, we are also joining together in family," you look over at Eunseok, who gives you a reassuring nod, "Song Eunseok and I are to be wed in one year's time. We have been close friends and partners since we were born and I couldn't imagine anyone better suited to be by my side. We can go into this business partnership fully trusting each other and our companies and we would be grateful if you could give us your support. Thank you."
You step away from the podiums as gasps ring through the crowd. The business venture was nearly an open secret in the industry, but your relationship with Eunseok was based on rumours only, having never confirmed it. Now that you have, it would stir up all these new rumours- were you only getting married for the merger? Did you two actually love each other? What about all the eligible bachelors and bachelorettes that had been conniving to get even a bit of your or Eunseok's time to beg for your hand in marriage?
Eunseok takes his place beside you, wrapping his arm around your waist again as your families smile together for the pictures. The engagement party also doubled as a celebration for the merger, so at least all of the spotlight wasn't on you.
You're glad that your friends are here. They're all business heirs too, since like attracted like at your school. Your best friend Minjeong attacks you with a hug the second you step down from the stage.
"Ah, my best friend is getting married," she sighs dreamily into your ear, "You know what, Y/N, at least he's handsome. It's harder to hate someone when they look that good."
"Then you marry him," you chide, half-joking, "The problem has never been his looks. It's the situation."
"He doesn't hate you half as much as you hate him," Minjeong tuts, "And he's in the same situation. He never got a choice either."
You know deep down that she's right, but you're committed to making his life hell until the ends of the earth for breaking your heart. If anyone could say anything about you, it was that you could hold a grudge.
"Whose side are you on?" you prod her arm, but she rolls her eyes and links arms with you to join Eunseok and his friends.
"Happy engagement, lovebirds," Sungchan greets you with two kisses on your cheeks, "So excited to be at your wedding."
"I'm sitting you at the back," you retort, sticking your tongue out. You hated that Eunseok's friends were genuinely nice and funny people. It was so hard to distance yourself from Eunseok when your friendship groups had been deeply intertwined since you all could walk.
"Not when I'm a groomsman, right Eunseok-ie?" Sungchan swings his arm around his friend's shoulder, pulling him close, "Now tell me, who's the best man?"
Eunseok shoves his arm off, "You can just draw straws for it."
"I'll be the best man, hyung," Seunghan grins cheekily, "I'll make sure to give a really good speech, okay?"
"It's almost as if it's a real wedding," you smile bitterly, "Jeong, you'll be my maid of honour right?"
"You have to ask me properly," Minjeong whines, "We're going to do this wedding right, okay? My best friend will only get married once. I'm not letting you let your wedding planner do everything; we've been planning our dream weddings since we were 10 so we'll do it according to that."
"C'mon Y/N," Wonbin bumps his shoulder with yours, "We can make it fun. We know you'd rather not marry hyung, but he had always been the groom in all the weddings you'd plan when you were young. Now it's like a dream come true."
"Yah, Park Wonbin," Eunseok grits his teeth at his friend for bringing up the past. You wince at the reminder as Minjeong slaps his arm.
"Y/N, I think your mother is calling over you and Eunseok to dance," Shotaro calls for you softly, and you turn around to see your mother desperately signalling to you to join her on the dance floor.
"I'll see you guys later," you bid your friends a goodbye as you follow Eunseok into the crowd.
The night crawls by. It's nearly painful as you fake a smile with every passerby and acquaintance who congratulates you for your engagement. It feels like you're getting stabbed in the heart over and over again as everyone coos over how in love the two of you seem and how they always knew you were going to end up together. It crushes you as Eunseok leans down to your ear while you dance, apologising for how this was your life.
You get into his car after the party. The ride home is silent, apart from the noise of the city around you that seeps in even through the rolled up windows. Eunseok won't even dare breathe too loud in fear of making your life even less like what you had dreamed it to be.
He pulls up to your house and you make a quick move to unbuckle your seatbelt and open the door in one motion, but Eunseok wraps his hand around your wrist gently, bringing you back down.
"What is it now, Song?" you sigh in frustration, closing your eyes in defeat.
"I know this night has made your hatred for me 10 times worse," Eunseok begins, shuffling in his seat to reach into his inside pocket, "And I know that what we have isn't real to you, but I thought you at least deserved this."
Your eyes flutter open and you look over to him. He uncurls his clenched hand, unveiling a shiny ring in the middle of his palm. You bite back the gasp that bubbles up through your throat, and you reluctantly take the ring between your fingers without looking at him.
It's exactly your dream ring. It's what you imagined the love of your life to propose with when you were younger. It's what you wanted to be someone's physical manifestation of their love and devotion to you. That makes it all the worse when it comes from Eunseok.
"I remembered," Eunseok reads your mind, "When we went ring shopping when we were young for fun because you wanted to make sure I would propose with the right ring. I hope it's still what you want."
You can't bear to look at Eunseok at all, so you clench the ring in your hand and open the door, "Goodnight Eunseok. Thank you. Get home safely."
There's 100 steps between your front door and your bedroom. It takes what's left of your energy to hold back the sobs that threaten to escape prematurely. As soon as your bedroom door clicks shut, you collapse against your floor and break down in tears.
Why did Song Eunseok have to be such a good man? Why did you have to hate him? He was yours now, and that was what younger you wanted all along. Why were you taking it out on him? You had been holding onto a grudge for so long and he had been trying to make amends in private ever since, despite going along with your whole enemies thing for his own fun.
You hated how you knew that Song Eunseok could and would give you the life you wanted. You hated how all you wanted to do was love him like it was your choice and for him to love you back like it was his. But in this world, you were privileged enough to have everything you ever wanted, aside from the choice to love whoever you wanted to.
You hated how you didn't even have a choice in loving someone who didn't love you back.

You fought with Eunseok nearly every time that you saw him through your university years. You found problems in the way he positioned himself too close to you and problems in the way he would distance himself and act like strangers when you did complain about that. You found problems in the way he didn't talk to other girls despite rejecting you and found problems when he would go on dates after you said that.
In short, Song Eunseok was a problem to you.
Yizhuo was forcing shots into your hands and demanding that you downed them with her as you tried to tune back in to the party going on around you. You couldn't think of anything else the second that Song Eunseok walked through the door arm in arm with some girl.
It was the last party of your undergraduate university days, since exams had finished and you were going to graduate in just a couple of weeks. Someone had rented out some kind of manor in the outskirts of Oxford, dedicated for everyone to stay at and party for a weekend. You knew the organiser through a friend of a friend, but everyone that had been invited was someone you either knew personally or knew of. The spoilt brats community at your university was large, but tight.
You obliged Yizhuo's request and bitterly downed the drink, hissing as it burned through your tracts, "What is this? It tastes disgusting."
"Alcohol isn't made to taste nice," she tutted at you, following your line of sight before sighing, "I guess it's time to get you more so you don't have to be sober looking at that."
Minjeong shook her head on the other side of you, "I can't believe he would bring someone here. He knew you'd be here. So disrespectful."
You saw that Eunseok was about to turn, so you quickly spin away in order to avoid eye contact, "It doesn't matter to me. We're not dating."
"But he's your fiancé," Yizhuo stomped in defiance, "He should have some respect for you."
"Since he didn't want to date me, i'd rather him date other people. Then it just looks like he rejected me because he didn't like me as a person," you affirmed, taking another shot with Minjeong.
"Y/N, please. You were 16 when you confessed and 16 year old boys don't have the most mature outlook on life," Minjeong argued, coughing after the bitter shot, "I'm sure he's not stupid anymore. You grew up hot and he's practically tripping over his own feet trying to chase after you."
"He's not chasing me," you scoffed, "He brought a girl here."
"Oh, you're impossible, Y/N," Yizhuo cried out, beginning to slur, "What do you actually want that poor boy to do? Even I would be confused with the way you act."
Your best friends have been trying to knock sense into you since you turned 18 and Eunseok gave up his dream to study at Harvard to be with you in England. They had claimed that Eunseok realised his feelings for you and wanted to make up for rejecting you. You claimed that if that was his intention, he would have told you that by now instead of pestering you by inserting himself into your new life without reason.
"He can do whatever he wants," you turned your nose up, "I don't care about him."
"Well you better act that way. He's coming," Minjeong warned you, suddenly disappearing with Yizhuo and leaving you stranded with your fiancé walking towards you.
It honestly felt like the grim reaper floating over in slow motion before he came to collect your soul. You fought hard to control the grimace on your face as he stopped in front of you.
"Y/N," he greeted softly, leaning in to give you a hug. You stood still, but you don't push him away. You ignored the way your heart skipped a beat when he pressed his cheek gently against the top of your head.
"Eunseok,"
"How were exams? You're graduating this year, right?" his head is tilted at you, eyes focused into yours.
"Why are you even asking? I'm sure you know my plans for the next 10 years considering you're still following me around," you scoffed, "Does your new girl know you're moving to New York after graduation so you can stalk me while I do my masters?"
"Are you jealous?" he smirked suddenly, gentle demeanour disappearing, "She's just a friend."
"Does she know that? I don't care what you do, Song. I just feel bad for the poor girl whose heart you're going to break when you tell her you're engaged," you feigned nonchalance, pouring yourself another shot, "I guess it's my fault for telling you to have your fun and experience things since apparently you'll be so devoid of love when you get married."
"Y/N," he trailed off, grabbing the soju bottle that had appeared in your hands, "You know it's not like that. I didn't mean it like that when I reject-"
"Save it, Song," you rolled your eyes, "Your girl is coming. Don't go blaming me when time comes to break her heart."
You turned away in time and managed to snatch back your alcohol before arms wrap around Eunseok's and a high pitch voice squeals to him about how she lost him. You find Sungchan somewhere in the crowd and convince him to call you a taxi to take you back into the town where your apartment was. Before he could even confirm the booking, you had already disappeared into the crowd, the shots you had taken truly seeping into your blood and making your head spin.
You don't really remember what happened the rest of that night, but if you try hard enough, you can remember being tucked into a bed on the third floor, big eyes peering down at you as you tossed under the duvet, a hunched figure sat at the end of the bed on the floor and a soft voice singing you to a deep slumber.
˗ˏˋ જ⁀➴ ˎˊ˗
"It's gorgeous, darling," your mother's voice takes you out of the focus mode you're in. The sunlight seeps through the stained glass, illuminating the sunroom at the back of your house. If you look down through the windows, you'd find the garden that your mother has been cultivating for decades. The rose garden with its arches and its vines was where you'd dreamed to get proposed to when you were young.
"You think so?" you showed her the sketch in full, turning the pad, "Do you think it's easy enough to create in real life?"
"We can make anything you want happen," your mother takes a seat in the lounge chair next to yours.
"Can you make Eunseok love me back?" you hum dejectedly, shading in the corset of what would be your wedding dress.
"He does, sweetheart. You just refuse to see it," your mother swiftly utters, and you stop your drawing, clenching the pencil tightly in your fist.
"Why does everyone say that?" you growl, "Everyone but Eunseok."
"Because you act like you hate him. You act like marrying him is the worst thing in the world. You act like there's nothing he could say or do that would bring him back into your favour despite you loving him all these years," your mother is lecturing you now, "He follows your lead, my darling. He will go to the ends of the earth for you and he always has. What more does he have to do for you to accept the way he shows his love? What more can he do to have your forgiveness?"
There's tears welling up in your eyes and your mother takes the drawing pad away from you to examine the dress you had envisioned. She carries on while you chew your lip and fight back the tears.
"You're going to be beautiful in this dress. One year's time will fly by, so make amends with Eunseok by then. Even if you don't go into this marriage as lovers, at least go into it as friends. That will make your life easier."
"I don't want to be friends," you grit out.
"Mhm, you want all or nothing. Why don't you ask him, then? He threw the ball in your court when he asked you if this marriage is what you want. Someone who doesn't love you or care about you wouldn't give you the option to run away to save yourself, you know?" you hate how insightful your mother is as she grabs your left hand, "This ring is beautiful, Y/N. He knows your heart like it's his."
"Cause it is his," you choke as the tears begin falling, "And he stamped all over it 8 years ago."
"He was just a young boy back then. He's followed you all over the world to be by your side ever since. He's sacrificed his own life to make your dreams come true. You have no choice but to marry each other, but he's been making choices to give you the life you wanted," she strokes your hair gently, "Can you give the boy a chance?"
Over the years, your parents had apologised to you for putting you in such a situation. They had told you that if you truly, inside your heart, didn't want to get married to Song Eunseok, they would call the whole thing off. The marriage was a way to ensure the merger wouldn't go awry by putting you and Eunseok as collateral if one side ever did try to betray the other. Tying the two of you together in marriage was a way to prevent either families from ruining the other.
You considered putting a stop to things more times than you could count on your fingers, but selfishly, you would imagine yourself on a rocking chair on a porch, hair grey and skin wrinkly and when you would look over to see who would be on the other chair, Eunseok was the only one you could imagine with you.
"But I've treated him so horribly all these years," you hiccup, trying to stop your crying, "There's no way that Eunseok would love someone like me."
"Because you won't let him," she stands up and places the drawing pad back in your lap, "Y/N, your father and I love you very much and all we want is your happiness. We haven't opposed this marriage despite how hard you've tried to push Eunseok away because we know that if you let him, he would make you truly happy. You're the only person stopping that happiness."
You ponder on her words for a while after she leaves, adding little details to your dress. For someone who was acting like this wedding was going to ruin their life, you sure were investing a lot of your free time into it. Maybe Minjeong had gotten into your head; unless you planned to divorce Eunseok (after the 5 year clause, per the contract), you were only going to get married once, so you should at least do it in your style.
Wonbin was right at your engagement party. You'd been planning your wedding since young. You knew exactly which flowers you wanted to adorn the aisle, which flavour of cake you wanted to eat, which song was going to play while you walked down the aisle, and whose eyes you wanted on you on the other side as you did. Eunseok had always been your dream man- he was your first crush, your first love and your first heartbreak all rolled up into one devastatingly handsome package. You imagined him in his crisp suit, laughing through his tears because you just looked so beautiful, and the thought of that takes you out of your fantasy and back into the room that was filled not with tears of happiness, but of silence.
You look down at the ring. The sun is hitting it perfectly, making the diamond shimmer in the beam. You slide it off and inspect the band for the first time, wondering what size he got since you didn't even know your size. Your heart stops when you first notice it. It's so small that if you blinked at that moment, you probably wouldn't have even noticed it and you would've lived the rest of your life not knowing it was there.
You run your nail against the engraving, your breath hitched as you read it.
To the one I'll always choose.
It's always been about choice. This whole time, it's been about your freedom to choose.
You and Eunseok weren't born with the privilege of choosing the one who was going to love you so hard that it would drive you crazy. You were instead born with a silver spoon in your mouth and a signed contract that because your family was going to have a girl first, that girl would be married to the Song's first born when the time came.
There was no question or argument about it. You grew up beside Eunseok knowing you were going to spend the rest of your life together, so you chose to learn everything about him. You chose to learn that he loved playing basketball with his friends and that he became silly and unserious when around them. You chose to learn that he doted on his much younger baby brother and that he would fight anyone and anything that could bring harm to him. You chose to learn that Eunseok had a soft heart that had its very own soft spot reserved just for you- one that grew bigger after your hatred for him did as well.
While you chose to hate Eunseok for rejecting you, he chose to stick by your side anyways. He chose to join you in Oxford, even if most of his friends went to America to study. He chose to live at the block just down the street from yours, so he could walk behind you to lectures and check that you were okay every day without overwhelming you. He chose to sleep on hard floors and wake up with kinks in his neck because he chose to sing you to sleep while you were drunk and then refused to leave to sleep in a nice bed so he could watch over you and protect you in your state. He chose to take on a job in New York for two years instead of joining his father's company straight out of business school so that you had someone to accompany you on your midnight walks through New York City. He chose to give you the choice to leave if marrying him was truly a burden you couldn't bear, because your happiness was the grand reward of the consequences that he would bear in your place.
When you chose to hate him, Eunseok let love grow in the emptiness that you left behind instead. He would choose you a million times over and over again until the day you'd finally see it. Your hatred for the situation stemmed from the fact that you thought your choices were stripped away in being arranged to marry. You wanted Eunseok to love you not because he had to, but because it was his choice to.
You were too blind by your rage to see that Eunseok had been choosing you over and over again not because of the arrangement, but in spite of it. That was the greatest love of them all.
-
On the next sunny day, Eunseok joins you on the bench in the middle of the rose garden. You'd been sketching up ideas on how you want the aisle to look like. You were thinking light flowers along the bottom with candles dispersed to illuminate it. In your dreams, you'd get married at sunset in a glass pavilion that could hold only your closest friends and families. As the sun started dipping, the candles would take over as the source of light and bathe everyone in a soft, golden glow. In your dreams, the light would reflect onto Eunseok's face, highlighting his sharp cheekbones and large, round eyes that were peering down into yours.
"What did you call me over for?" Eunseok sits on his hands and looks around. It's spring time and the garden is at its most vibrant and beautiful.
You hold out your hand in front of you, "I found the engraving on the ring."
Eunseok takes a sharp breath in, "Ah you did?"
"Did you not want me to see it?"
"I had just hoped that whenever you did see it, you would believe it," Eunseok whispered, "It's true, by the way."
"I know," your response has Eunseok turning his head so fast it almost gives him whiplash.
"You do?"
"Mhm. You chose to follow me around the world despite me hating you and you having to give up on your dream schools just so you could try to prove yourself to me. You chose to keep giving me gifts on birthdays when we were abroad since my family often couldn't make it. You always choose me. Why?"
"In part to make amends for the mistake I made when I was young pushing away your feelings like that without thought," Eunseok explained, "But for the most part because I care about you and I want to make the best of a bad situation we're in. I know that no one wants to be in an arranged marriage. I just wanted to show you that I could give you the life you wanted. That you could be happy with me."
Your heart aches at his words as you realise how truly misguided your perception of him was. You had thought that he was following you around to torment you and to remind you that you could never be free, but all this time, he was letting you live your dreams and staying by your side to show that he was supporting you.
"I've treated you so badly over the years and you still want to marry me?" you meet his eyes that have been trained on you since the moment he sat down.
Eunseok giggles and reaches up his warm palm to your cold face, "Hm, your words are harmless Y/N. You've shown your affection to me in other ways; I know you love me."
You roll your eyes and push his hand away, "In your dreams, Song."
"Mhm, actually in your dreams," Eunseok teases, "Considering you've been dreaming about marrying me for 10 years."
"And I don't know why. I must be sick in the head for that. Did you hit me in the head when we were young or something?" you retort, trying to move away from him.
Eunseok lets out a full-bodied laugh that sends butterflies through you instead of the burning rage that usually ensued whenever he was having fun in front of you. He stretched his arm around you behind the bench and pulled you closer to him, "Just admit it, Y/N. Everyone knows you've had a fat crush on me since we were teens and it's only ever grown. There's a very, very fine line between love and hate."
"I still hate you," you grumble, "This doesn't mean anything."
Eunseok drops his head down, pushing your head into his shoulder. Your first instinct is to recoil away and grimace, but Eunseok's grip on your shoulder is tight, so you try to relax in his hold.
"You'll always be my girl, Y/N. You just have to accept that."
You hum and watch the bees buzz around the rose garden, "I've always wanted the whole ordeal- the crushing, the pining, the courting, going on dates, having your firsts, moving in together, proposing how you want. I feel like that was taken away from me before I even knew what they were and even if we do those things, how would I know what's real and what's fake? What you're doing because of me and what you're doing because of the arrangement- that kind of stuff."
Eunseok's heartbeat is slow and strong, "The arrangement only brought us to each other. How can I make you believe that everything I do for you is because I want to?"
"How about we start with when you rejected me and left poor little 16 year old me heartbroken?"
Eunseok scoffs, "Y/N, I was stupid, okay? It was a mistake, I was young and I was too blind to see what was in front of me. You were still special to me back then and I have always cared for you, but I didn't know what I wanted back then. I grew up and haven't looked back since."
"And the girls you brought around at university?"
"Because you were demanding that I dated other people," Eunseok rolls his eyes, thinking about your past explosive arguments about relationships, "I just went on dates here and there, but never anything serious. I always let them know that I couldn't commit, but you know there was a line wrapping around Oxford wanting to date me."
You chuckle at that. Everyone was falling over their feet for the chance to get just a second of Song Eunseok's time, the same way he was doing to you. He was incredibly popular and girls would approach you to ask you to set them up, but you would always growl and send them on their way.
"You were only the most eligible bachelor because you're the son of the third richest family in Korea," you sneer, jokingly.
"And I'm handsome, charming, intelligent and kind," Eunseok lists off his traits on his fingers, "But everyone knows you've always had my heart."
"I don't know if I can believe that."
He shrugs simply beside you, "Doesn't matter. I can show you now."
"What?"
"We can date from now on. I'll show you how I feel. Then in one year's time, you'll be gladly getting married to me instead of having to be dragged up the aisle kicking and screaming by your family," he says it so casually that you question if the shocked reaction you're having is the abnormal one.
"Date?" you splutter out, completely bewildered, pulling away from him, "Us two? Now?"
"Why are you saying it like it's crazy? I basically just confessed to you," Eunseok crosses his arms in front of his chest and tilts his head in confusion, "Are you rejecting me? Is this payback?"
You wave your hand in dismissal, "Yah, you're really confusing me here, Eunseok. I don't know what I'm feeling right now."
He laughs again, and he's glad that he can finally laugh with you for the first time in years. He takes your hand between his and squeezes assuringly, "It's okay. We can figure it out together as we go. Just stay by my side, okay?"
You sigh into the breeze. The air was crisping up as the sky began to illuminate in visions of pink and purple. You look over at Eunseok and the reflection of the sun makes his eyes look iridescent. One thing you've always known about Eunseok is that with him, you felt safe, so you nod and squeeze his hand back, "Yeah."
˗ˏˋ જ⁀➴ ˎˊ˗
The first time you saw Eunseok again after your undergraduate graduation, it was in New York City at the end of summer.
You had spent the entire summer travelling nearly every country in Europe with your friends, while Eunseok was forced to come home and start learning how to actually work in his father's company before he started his role at the New York branch. You were glad to have this summer without him considering the two of you spent your summers together as children and as teens, your friendship groups overlapped so you also had to hang out with him.
There were endless boxes in your apartment since decorating your space was one of your life's great pleasures. The boxes were organised by room and had been shipped out from England at the start of the summer when you moved out. They'd been collecting dust, so all your windows were thrown open in the summer heat to air out the apartment and the dust. Of course you had AC, but there was something about the noise of the city traffic and the hustle and bustle travelling up to your apartment that made you feel like you were truly in the city.
The knock on your door made you groan instantly and you had to suppress the urge of banging your head into the coffee table you were decorating. You took small and slow steps to the front door, but the pattering on the door wasn't letting up.
"Already here to bother me on my first day? It's only been like 3 hours since I got off the plane," you sighed as you came face to face with your dreaded fiancé.
Eunseok rolled his eyes and pushed past your shoulders into your kitchen, "I know you missed me. I brought takeout since you probably haven't eaten and don't have any food yet." Eunseok held up a bag of his favourite Korean food in the city and placed it on your dining table, dishing out the styrofoam boxes.
He arrived in the city a week and a half before you did, moving into the apartment across the hall so he had been able to get himself settled into both his job and his city before you came to rain down terror on him.
"What makes you think I want to eat with you?"
"I bought it, so I'm gonna eat it. Up to you if you wanna starve or not," Eunseok shrugged, already making himself comfy in one of your expensive dining chairs. He took out some plastic cutlery from the bag and began to dig in to the beef bibimbap he had ordered for himself. There was another few boxes of food in the bag, all of which smelling amazing and instantly causing your stomach to grumble.
Sheepishly, you took the seat across from him and scavenged through the food. He had ordered you some tteokbokki and a stew with some rice. Either he knew you too well or it was a lucky guess. For the sake of your heart, you settled on the latter choice.
The two of you ate in silence for a while, not really looking up at each other and just staring passively at your food. Silence was few and far between when it came to you and Eunseok. It was always hushed arguing or full blown insulting between the two of you no matter where you went or how inappropriate it may have seemed to others. You were sure there were rumours that the two of you didn't always get on despite being photographed together so often, but your families' PR teams were experts in mangling all those 'rumours'.
You broke the silence first, "How's the new job?"
The heir in front of you coughs and looks at you strangely, as if he couldn't believe you would ask him that, "It's... work. Not horrible and met a couple friendly colleagues. Having this job does make me feel so grown up and responsible, though," after the initial shock of you initiating a conversation, Eunseok began blabbering about his new position at his family's company.
"Well then hopefully it makes you more mature," you snide.
Eunseok scoffed, "Trust me, Y/N, when I say that I'm the more mature one out of us. You'll find out what I mean one day."
"If you were mature enough, you'd know to oppose this crazy marriage with me," you turned your head away from him, feeling the anger bubble up again.
"And it's because I'm mature enough that I'm not," he shrugged, "Unlike you, I don't think this marriage will be the worst thing that can happen to me."
"I'm honoured," you retorted, "I don't know why you think that when all I've done is make your life difficult. Why would you think I can't continue for the rest of our lives?"
He smiled coyly at you, pushing a drink that appeared in the bag towards you, "You'll get tired, sweetheart. Then you'll fall in love with me."
You feel sick at how he's all entirely wrong. Despite that, you appreciate how he's always able to diffuse any tension between the two of you even if his words are always cocky and arrogant. z
You don't say anything to him for a long while. When you finished up your food in silence, he packed everything anyway and placed it in the correct bins. Wordlessly, he began to unpack your boxes with you, unwrapping everything bubble wrapped and placing it on the kitchen counters for you to organise. You would have protested this act of service, but he's right- fighting him all the time does get tiring.
In this light from the living room as the sun setting made your apartment glow and burst with light, Eunseok looks radiant. You hope he can't see you admiring him from the next room. It's almost as if you're a normal couple, moving into their first home and starting their new life together. It's a melancholy sight as you ponder the what if's.
He breaks down all of your boxes flat, humming to himself a song that you think you've heard at the end of parties when you'd be sat on someone's bedroom floor just talking or playing cards half-drunk. Eunseok turned his head towards you and you whipped your head away so fast it hurts your neck.
"You still have this?" he held up a mug that instantly flashed you back to 6 years ago. The mug is majority a light pink and wonky in places since you made it yourself from clay. It was a few months process making and painting the mug, but when you were 15 with the biggest crush on him, having a mug brandishing "Y/N + EUNSEOK" on it made you feel giddy inside.
"All my other mugs broke," you lied through your teeth, snatching it from his grip and placing it in a random empty cupboard, "My mother packed it for me when I moved to Oxford."
"Mhm, okay," you could tell he was smirking but you made yourself busy with the plates, "I'm gonna take the boxes down to the recycling. Do you want any more help?"
"I've had enough of you for today," you breathed out. Too much time with him truly drove you crazy, "But thanks."
"Anytime, princess. I'm just across the hall if you need me and I'll get your number whenever you get it set up." he wiped his hands on his jeans and have you that charming smile that made you fall in the first place.
You see him out wordlessly. You don't argue when he turns up the next day demanding for your number in case you ever needed anything from him (or if he wanted to come and bother you). You feign annoyance when one morning he's insisting that he ran out of coffee in his apartment and wanted some of yours. You leave him in your apartment because you were running late to class, but when you get home, you open the cupboard and try not to fall all over again when you see a matching, much lumpier, handmade blue mug that brandished the words "TO FOREVER <3" on it next to yours.
˗ˏˋ જ⁀➴ ˎˊ˗
You're tossing and turning in your seat as Eunseok shakes you gently. He laughs when you groan under your breath as he wakes you up, "Sit up. We're landing soon."
The sleep you got on the flight was long, but you still woke up incredibly tired since you kept getting woken up for meals. You were grateful that you could fly first class with separate seats and beds, otherwise you'd be much more groggy than you already were.
Buckling yourself in the seat next to Eunseok's, you yawn, "Eunseok, what the fuck is an engagement trip?"
"A trip celebrating our engagement, duh," he looks at you like you're stupid, so you shove him as hard as your tired body could muster, "Like a honeymoon but before. Never too many excuses to take a vacation. Plus, we're going to be busy this trip."
You've never taken a vacation with just Eunseok before. Sure, you've lived in three different countries together outside of Korea and gone on a couple of vacations as children and with a large group of friends, but never just the two of you with a purpose.
"I don't understand why our wedding planner couldn't just pick a venue for herself and call it a day. Why must we go all the way to Italy and do it ourselves?" you're up to your neck in work, but you couldn't protest when you found a week blocked off in your calendar by your assistant, telling you it was 'orders from above' AKA your father.
"It was my idea," he confesses with a shrug, "Won't it be nice if we actually like where we're getting married? If we chose it ourselves because we can see ourselves getting married there?"
It feels like your heart is clenching at the insinuations behind his words. He wants to get involved with your wedding planning, like it's a real wedding. You sniff and turn away from him. It is a real wedding, you remind yourself. You were going to get married legally and this wedding was real, no matter the intention behind it. No matter if you loved or hated each other, it was a real wedding.
"Yeah. Everywhere in Italy is nice so at leadt it'll be a good trip," the past couple of months since you've been officially engaged to Eunseok, you've been attempting to be nicer and hold back your retorts. You've made an effort to argue less and he's been trying to get on your good side. You've both been busy with work considering the news of the merger brought a whole new wave of problems, so you've had no time to interrogate his profession to "date" you. Thank gosh, because your heart would not be able to take that.
The plane lands soon enough and before you know it, you're in a private car going to your hotel. You were staying in Milan, but driving around Lake Como and Tuscany to tour the list of potential venues that your wedding planner had come up with. You were definitely going to be exhausted by the end of it.
The drive was relatively silent, just listening to music and looking out of the window, but when you arrive at the hotel, Eunseok opens the car door for you and snakes his arm around your waist as you walk up to the front desk, "Hello. We're checking in to the penthouse suite. For Song?"
The hotel clerk smiles sweetly, handing over your keys swiftly, "All ready for you both, Mr Song. Congratulations on your engagement."
You're spluttering a thank you with flushed cheeks as Eunseok drags you over to the elevator, "You told them?"
"I just wanted the free champagne that I assume will be up there," he grins cheekily and you roll your eyes. As if he couldn't afford it.
You are however delighted to find a small cake beside the bucket of ice cold champagne and you dig into the red velvet goodness as you watch Eunseok open up your suitcases and hang your clothes up in the master bedroom wardrobe meticulously. You're halfway into the cake when he drags his suitcases out of the room.
"Wait, where are you going?" you frown.
Eunseok snickers, "To the other bedroom? Why? Do you want me to stay with you?"
"Oh. I just didn't know there were two rooms." you say sheepishly.
Eunseok stops in his tracks, hand on his suitcase loosening, "So you went into this trip okay with the thought of sleeping with me? If so, I'll stay here with you then."
"No!" you call out, "Just- just shut up and go."
The smirk on his face is smug as he nods and continues his leave, "Alright, sweetheart, but let me know if you get nightmares and want company."
You bear the butter knife at him and he laughs melodically on his way out. You pop the champagne yourself and drown a glass down, hoping you'd be able to make it out the trip unscathed. He's running into the room with a pout after hearing the loud pop of the corkscrew, so you pour the both of you a glass and you clink them together as you chugged them back.
The days pass by similarly. You wake up and have breakfast together before embarking on a sleepy drive to a venue. You have lunch in endless terraces and gardens under the sun, basking in the heat and evaluating the venue you saw that morning. You both ooh and ahh at different venues that all look the same before you find a flaw in it that stops you from making the decision to host one of the most important days of your lives there. Some are too big, some too small, too pretentious, not pretty enough, the flowers aren't the ones you envisioned, the location too secluded or not enough. You always agree on the flaws of the venues and it's the penultimate full day when you make it to the final venue on the list.
"If I don't like this venue then I'm not marrying you," you huff in the car as it pulls up the driveway.
"Who knew wedding venues were so complicated?" Eunseok exhales in frustration, "Should we just get married in Seoul?"
You puff out your lips, "Italy was always my dream, but I was naive to the process."
Eunseok smiles and takes your hand, "I have faith in this one. At least I hope." The commitment he has to giving you your dream wedding despite it all is unwavering.
When you enter the final venue, you think that maybe it was the last on the list for a reason, since you're blown away every step you take through the grounds. The hallways to the main room is ornate and delicate at the same time, with pretty floral paintings wrapping the walls and big windows letting in the golden light. The room where your reception could be held is stunning with murals all over the walls and a dome ceiling that compliments it perfectly. It's neither too big, nor too small and there's little nooks and crannies for guests to nestle themselves in. You could see yourself in the middle, slow dancing with your head on your husband's shoulder.
"This is nice," Eunseok awes, coming up behind you with the grounds manager, "Very pretty."
You nod in agreement and ask to see the gardens, since you always wanted to get married outside in the sun. The manager gushes over the outside while she leads you out and your heart is pounding in anticipation. Eunseok probably guessed how giddy you were, because he joins you by your side and gives you a hopeful look.
"We're here. Most brides start from here and have the aisle straight down to the arch."
She throws open the double doors and you gasp in admiration at the sight in front of you. The stairs going down to the garden seen steep, but grand. You envision that your father could probably help you hobble down to the garden, where it was staged as a wedding venue. There's chairs laid out in rows, decorated in tulle and bows with an aisle adorned in flowers. At the end of the garden, there's an arch with vines wrapped around it and flowers creeping up. From where you were standing, you could see that this garden was actually on a balcony overlooking a lake that seemed to be glowing and sparkling as the slight wind caused some ripples on the surface
"I'll give you two some time to explore?" she proposes, to which Eunseok nods and wraps his hand around your wrist, tugging you down the stairs.
"First impressions?" he's looking around with blown out pupils as the two of you reach the bottom of the stairs and the beginning of the aisle.
"I like this one a lot," you shyly admit, "It's exactly what I imagined."
"I love it as well. Why don't you walk down the aisle and see how you feel. Imagine yourself on the day," he's taking off in front of you, running swiftly to the arch before you could even take a breath and get a word out.
At his antics, you let out a full-belly laugh and straighten out the ivory dress you happened to be wearing. You look down at the slip dress hitting your ankles and think it might be fate you chose to wear this specific dress on this specific day. You look up and find Eunseok suddenly frozen still at the other end, hands intertwined in front of him and his eyes trained solely on you.
When he notices that you meet his eyes, he gives you a gentle smile as he mouths to you, "Come here."
It takes you a few breaths to actually muster up the courage to follow his direction. You think that walking down a straight path shouldn't be such a big deal, but the thought that this could be the very steps you take to marry the same man at the end in less than a year's time strikes your heart.
The aisle is a soft and smooth stone, perfect for walking on in high heels. It's wide enough that a wedding dress wouldn't drag along the sides and knock over the flowers and long enough for anticipation to build as Eunseok gazes down at you from afar.
"Y/N," Eunseok calls over.
You take the first step and your breath catches in your throat. All you can look at is Eunseok now, with his shirt unbuttoned at the first three to expose some chest and his hair falling over his eyes. He keeps fidgeting with his fingers, as if he couldn't stand still and his lips are puckering and stretching as if he had much more to say.
The second step is easier than the first and the third one even more so. By the fifth step, Eunseok is chewing on his bottom lip and you're ridden with anticipation to meet him at the end.
With each step you take down the aisle, you're flashed back to all the crucial moments in your life with Song Eunseok so far.
You were sandbox best friends. You learned to walk together, and then ride bikes with each other. You learned to swim in the same swimming pool that still remained in your garden. You learned to ski and snowboard with each other in the blustery mountains of the alps. You were each other's first heartbreaks when you were teens. You took your first alcoholic drink together with your friends by the Han river, faces flushed red and hearts beating out of your chests at the prospect of getting caught. You got blackout drunk together for the first time during your first week of university. You posed together as you threw your graduation caps up in the air at the end of the three years. You chased each other around New York City, running around in blocks after he snatched your phone from your grasp when you would ignore him. You begrudgingly invited him to ride swan paddle boats with you in every lake and river around the city since he was the only person that would drop everything for you at a moment's notice. You would leave containers of home cooked food outside his doors when you noticed he was getting swamped with work, knowing he had the tendency to either order too much unhealthy takeout or stop eating altogether when busy.
With every step you take to meet Eunseok at the bottom of the aisle, you accept that Eunseok has been with you for every step of your life.
He's an arm's length away when you notice his eyes are glossier than usual. Eunseok refuses to break the stare between the two of you as you arrive in front of him, exactly where you would stand under the arch if you got married at this very space.
"Are you crying?" you whisper, afraid of your own voice.
He chortles and dabs at his eyes, "It's just the wind."
"Mhm," you hum, fighting back the smile threatening to expose your emotions, "What do you think?"
Eunseok takes a bold step towards you and closes the gap between your bodies. He's closer than you've ever had him and you can nearly feel his breath on your skin. It's making you dizzy but all you can do is keep your eyes on him.
"Eunseok," you murmur in a hushed tone.
His head is drifting closer down to yours, forehead nearly touching. If you moved your face even just by a centimetre, your noses would bump and you knew you wouldn't be able to stop yourself.
"Let's get married here," Eunseok nudges his face forwards. You have to stop yourself from pulling back even with the drumming in your chest, "You're going to look so beautiful. You do already."
"I like this place. Our parents would like it here too."
Eunseok's eyes flutter shut as he sighs and shakes his head gently, "No, let's get married here because we want to, not because our parents would like it. Let's get married because we want to."
"Eunseok," his name falls out of your mouth like it's the most sacred word you can say.
His forehead is still pressed against yours, his eyes squeezed tight and his palm comes up to make home on your cheek, "I love you. I always have."
Sincerity drips from his words and you know that this time, it's the real thing. It's the words you'd been dying to hear him say sincerely for a decade. It's the words that underlined every fight and argument you've had as adults. He finally and bravely bares his heart to you for the first time, still considerate as he always had been by giving you the choice to determine what will end up of the two of you.
There's something different about his profession of love after all you'd experienced together. Back then, when you confessed that you liked him, the world would probably say it was just some puppy love- a silly high school crush. Something that would fizzle over and dissolve when you would experience the real hardships of life and what it could throw at you. You think that a late confession carries a profound and heartfelt meaning like no other.
"Seok-"
He cuts you off before you could finish, pulling away from you and causing you to open your eyes, "I don't need an answer yet, Y/N. I just need you to know that I want to be with you. I want to be your boyfriend, your husband, your partner- whatever you want me to be. I want to make you only happy from now on, instead of angry or resentful. I want to be by your side and keep following you around the world. I want everything with you."
You've never felt more sure of anything else in the world when you bounce up on your tiptoes and capture his face between your hands, pressing your lips against his. It feels like every nerve ending in your body is on fire, but at the same time feeling relief as if this was the one thing in the world that could finally relieve you from all the anger and bitterness you had been displaying and trying to internalise for all these years. Deep down, you could never ever hate Song Eunseok, the boy who has had your heart since you were just young.
He's rigid for a split second while he processes your own confession, but he quickly regains enough composure to part his lips and deepen the kiss, moulding your lips to each other's. It's unlike anything he's ever felt before and he finally understood the real pleasure of kissing someone you really love. As he runs his tongue along your bottom lip, Eunseok knows that he could do this for the rest of his life.
"Song Eunseok, I love you too," your eyes are glistening with adoration as you pull away from his kiss, "Let's get married?"
When he finally looks you in the eye at the moment you give yourself back to him, he can't help the tears that finally break free from their barrier. He's laughing as he finally pulls you to his chest, wrapping his arms around your body in desperation of keeping you close to him. You nuzzle deeper into him and he tucks his head into your neck. His body is shaking with the laughter of relief and his heartstrings tug when he feels his shirt dampening at the exact spot where your face laid.
"You're the one I'll always choose to love," he coo's into your ear words that travel straight into your heart, "For the rest of my life, for the rest of yours."
You look down at your hand and breathe deeply as the ring glistens on your finger. The Italian sun makes it shine bright as the symbol of your love. You start thinking of what you want to engrave on the inside of the ring that you want to get him. You start thinking of the dress and suit you'll be wearing at this very spot soon enough. You're dreaming of the house you move into together and of the company you'll spearhead by each other's side. You fantasise over your future kids- the kids you hope will have his eyes and your nose. You yearn for the life you know Eunseok will give you and your heart is finally at peace, knowing it will always be him.

Spending time with Cassie you couldn’t help but feel better.
The more you have fun and laugh with the little girl, the more you forget about your anger against the team.
It also helps that you spend most of the day away from them, eating lunch with Cassie and Scott, who you didn’t stay mad at for too long. To be fair to him you didn’t even know him when everything happened so you don't blame him too much.
As promised, Bucky comes looking for you as soon as he and Steve get back to the tower, finding you still on Scott's floor while you guys watch Despicable Me inside a huge blanket fort Cassie insisted on building in the middle of the floor of the living room.
Thankfully the other occupants of this floor, Bruce, Thor and Loki, are still in New Asgard. He’s just about to turn around and go back to his room when you notice him.
"Hey Bucky! Where are you going, how did it go?" he looks uncertainly at Scott and his daughter before answering.
"I was just gonna…" he trails off, pointing behind him towards the elevator.
"Nonsense, come here." you tell him, patting the seat next to you in the fort.
He’s a little hesitant, but slowly comes further into the room, sitting on the ground, leaving a little space between you.
You give him a smile that he shyly returns before you hear a little voice clearing her throat, which brings your attention to the little girl on your right. "Yes, Princess Cassie?"
"And who would this be, Queen Y/N?" Bucky’s a little confused by the interaction, but says nothing.
"This is Bucky. What title would you like to give him?" Cassie thinks about it for a second while staring very intently at Bucky, narrowing her eyes at him, and you can’t hide your amusement.
That is, until Cassie suddenly lands on a role for Bucky.
"He should be the King!" she says, looking from him to you a couple of times "You guys look good together." you’re about to say something, when Scott beats you to the punch.
"She’s right, I can see it." he says putting his hands up and looking through them to frame you and Bucky together, clearly much more amused than you are at the situation.
You sigh, knowing you can’t escape this. "Well, what Princess Cassie says goes. I’m sorry, King Bucky, you’re stuck with me now."
You turn to Bucky who's still very confused, and is now also starting to turn slightly pink, so you decide to explain.
"We’re playing make believe. Cassie is the Princess, Scott is the Jester and I’m the Queen. I’m sorry to inform you you’ve been crowned King of the castle." you gesture to the fort with your hands.
"And also Y/N’s husband!" Cassie feel the need to shout, making your head snap to her with wide eyes while Bucky turns even redder, your own face starting to change color now.
"He gets it, Princess." you try not to snap at her, she’s just a kid and doesn’t mean anything by it, but it’s still pretty embarrassing.
You see Scott snickering behind Cassie and glare at him as much as you can trying to go unnoticed by her, but Cassie's attention is on the super soldier now.
"You're going to play with us, right?" she asks him in a  sweet voice, making the biggest puppy eyes you've ever seen. She certainly knows what she's doing.
Bucky, who hasn't said anything until now, doesn't know what to do. He looks at you for help and you give him an encouraging smile.
He then looked at Scott, worried that the man might want Bucky anywhere near his daughter, but Scott simply nods his head with a smile.
Bucky relaxes a bit and turned his attention back to the little girl, trying to find the right thing to say.
"Of course I'll play with you. After all, the Princess’ word is law." Cassie starts giggling at the bow he gives her, and you're almost giddy at seeing this side of Bucky, more relaxed than he's been since he got here.
Granted, it was just a couple of days ago, but he seems to be making a lot of progress really fast, so far, just like Steve said after he hugged you yesterday morning.
You keep watching the movie, then the second one and you get halfway through the third when Maggie comes by to pick up Cassie.
So, with the promise not to finish the movie without her, you and Bucky say goodbye to all three and make your way to your shared floor.
"You were right, she really is adorable." Bucky says with a smile as you get into the elevator.
"I know, it’s pretty hard to stay mad at Scott when he lets me hang out with her." you smile back at him. "So, how did your meeting go?"
You see Bucky tense and feel a little bad. You really didn’t mean to make him uncomfortable, but you were genuinely curious and also wanted to support him. After all you know having a hearing isn’t certainly gonna be easy.
"I’m sorry, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to." You quickly reassure him and he seems to relax and gives you a nod.
When he doesn’t say anything else, you let it go. But Bucky had a question himself.
"Why are you ignoring everyone but me?" you sigh.
You don't blame him for being curious, you yourself are as nosy as they come. Always in a respectful manner, of course.
"I’m mad at them." You simply say. "They selfishly kept a pretty big thing from me. They made me feel bad, knowing they were lying to me. They’re my family, they should trust me more than this. I’ll get over it, eventually, but for now I’m happy avoiding everybody." you shrug. You know it’s kind of childish, but you also don’t care.
"Okay, I understand that… But why are you not avoiding me?" Now you’re confused.
"Why would I avoid you?" he bows his head in shame, not meeting your eyes as you exit the elevator and you already know you’re not going to like his answer.
"I’m the reason it all happened in the first place… it’s all my fault." You can feel the sadness in his voice, you can see he actually feels bad about causing this.
You, on the other hand, don't agree.
"Bucky," you start, stopping right in front of him, forcing him to stop too, looking up and quickly putting his hands on your arms to make sure you don't fall after almost colliding with you. "you can’t blame yourself for other people’s choices. Steve chose to help you, Tony chose to fight it, everybody else chose a side. None of it was on you. You didn’t ask anybody to do anything. So, please, stop feeling guilty."
Bucky looks at you silently for a few moments and you feel like he's searching your face for any hint that you might be lying, that you don't really believe what you were saying.
But he doesn't to find any so he nods and says "I’ll try." with his hands still on your arms and it's like you're suddenly registering just how close he is and how warm his touch is on your skin.
He’s about to say something else, when you hear someone clear their throat behind you.
Bucky drops his hands from you like they burned and you turn around, almost feeling like you got caught doing something wrong when you see Steve and Sam just standing there looking at you two.
Steve has that stupid grin on his face that he doesn’t seem to be able to wipe every time he sees you and Bucky together, but Sam looks more concerned than anything.
"Everything okay here?" he says and you can’t help but roll your eyes at his insinuation that something might be wrong just because you’re alone with Bucky.
You turn back to the brunette super soldier and smile at him "I’m gonna go to my room, I still have some reports to finish. See you later?"
You wait until he nods and then get on your tippy toes to give him a kiss on the cheek like this morning, smiling a little more when you back away and see a little pink hue coming back to his face, but with a smile nonetheless.
You turn around and pass the other two men without saying a word, hearing them sigh behind you as you walk away towards your room.
Maybe you’re being a little dramatic, but you don’t feel like forgiving anybody else just yet.
So that’s how you find yourself spending more and more time with Bucky.
It feels like you spent all your free time with each other, only being apart at night and when Bucky joins the team for dinner.
He tried to get out of it multiple times to join you when you would eat in the kitchen of your floor, but Steve insists that it would be better for him to be around the team, even if just for an hour a day, and you fully agree.
That, however, doesn’t stop him from joining you afterwards just so you won't have to eat alone, for which you're grateful.
Initially Bucky's pretty content just following you around like a lost puppy, a fact that Sam and Steve never fail to mention as it amuses them to no end.
But Bucky doesn't care, and neither do you as you enjoy each other’s presence, even in silence.
Bucky likes watching you go about your day, still amazed by everything you do and you like having him near you. It makes you feel safe.
Still, the more time you spent together, the more comfortable he feels around you.
The real turning point comes when one night you open your door to find a disheveled looking Bucky, and you know immediately that him knocking at your door at 3 am meant nothing good.
Which is confirmed when he sniffles and you realize he has tears streaming down his face.
Without saying anything you hold out your hand, which he instantly takes as he lets you guide him inside, shutting the door behind him.
You walk to the bed and sit down, hand still in his and, when he just stands there you tug on it, silently letting him know that it's okay for him to join you.
You expect him to sit next to you as he’s done countless times now while leaving a respectful space between you, always the gentleman.
What you didn’t expect is him crawling into your bed, taking you to lay down with him, and hugging you as tightly as he can without hurting you, his legs also wrapping around yours.
To say you're shocked right now is an understatement. You always made a point to keep physical touch to a minimum when it comes to Bucky, not wanting to do anything to make him uncomfortable.
But here he is, clinging to you like a scared little kid, crying his eyes out with his head buried in the crook your neck.
You wrap your arms around his shaking body, hugging him as tight as he is, rubbing his back to try and soothe him, whispering what you hope are words of encouragement in his ear.
You stay like that for a while until he finally calms down and stops crying.
You don’t rush him to let go or to talk about it, letting him decide if and when he's ready to talk at all.
After a few minutes of total silence you think the poor guy cried himself to sleep, but he proves you wrong by moving his head away from your neck and placing it on your chest.
You feel him play with your necklace as he starts talking with a quiet voice that reminds you of the first day you met him. "I’m sorry, doll. I didn’t want to bother you, but I didn’t want to be alone and had nowhere else to go." and your heart breaks for him.
"Don’t apologize, Buck. You can always come to me, it doesn’t matter what time it is."
He looks up, looking at you like you hung the moon and stars just for him, and seems like he's about to say something else but thinks better of it, his mouth opening and closing a couple of times.
He settles for giving you a gentle squeeze and moving his head back to lay on you, but you don't need words to know he's grateful for your understanding.
He's seemingly unashamed of the way he's still clinging to you and you’d be lying if you said you mind being so close to him either.
You start running your hand through his hair, which he seems to appreciate, and, after a few more minutes of silence, he starts speaking again.
He tells you about the nightmares he’s been having ever since he escaped Hydra, and that tonight, after a particularly gruesome one, he just couldn’t stand being alone.
He doesn't go into too much detail about the dream but tells you enough for you to want to take a few firearms and track down every single person connected to Hydra so you can put as many bullets in them as you can carry, then light them on fire for good measure.
But, Bucky being your first priority, you stay where you are and try your best to comfort him, eventually changing the subject to keep his mind off the nightmare.
You talk until the sun comes up, birds chirping, but neither of you make a move to get up at any point, eventually falling asleep for a couple of hours in each other’s arms.

Hello hello I see your posts pop up here and again and I love them. Just gonna put this here. I had an headcanon request with a reeaaallly tall female reader (preach tall women 🙌 short too- all of them actually) with Kafka and maybe Silver wolf (girly is so small). Anyways have a good day.
I'm really sorry but I don't write on short-bodied characters like Silver Wolf (y'all know the term) irrespective of their age (I'm aware Silver Wolf is not underage). I just don't find it comfortable given their body type so I avoid it in all cases. I have, however, written on Kafka in this so I hope you like that! And please don't hesitate to make more requests on adult body characters as stated in my rules post <3
Game: Honkai Star Rail
Characters: Kafka x Tall fem!Reader
Type: Fluff (just hcs with a short drabble)
You are a fellow Stellaron Hunter like her. Both of you do missions together and have been dating for some time. She was initially intrigued by your height but quickly learned to tease you for it, and you just never had the nerve to get back at her. Plus, you secretly liked her teasing as well.
However, over time you certainly learned your way around her teasing. You had your ways of using your height as an advantage over her in order to make her taste her own medicine. She finds it despicable, how dare you make her feel this way.
It really is the simple things that makes her irritated. You kept something on the top shelf that she couldn't reach? How dare you. She has to get back at you somehow. It was amusing to you, watching someone as high and mighty as her struggle to reach something atop a shelf.
"Y/n! Hey, Y/n!"
Kafka shouted, her voice echoing in the whole HQ. You quickly came running to her and saw her in the kitchen, standing with her arms crossed over her chest and glaring at you.
"What is it?" you asked innocently, you knew very well why she had called you.
"Oh? Don't act so clueless with me. You know how much I hate it when you do this."
She pointed to the jar kept on the top shelf; you chuckled then walked over and picked up the jar to keep in on the bottom slab.
"Hehe~ Don't worry, I'll always be here to help you reach high things like that~"
She looked at you wide-eyed then gritted her teeth before walking towards you, she then held your collar and pulled you down to connect her lips with yours. She wrapped her arms around your neck and you held on to her waist, grabbing one leg up to your thigh. You continued with the passionate kiss and eventually picked her up, her legs wrapping around your body and deeply kissing you.
"Heh~ Now look who's taller~" she said with a smirk, touching your foreheads together.

A Vow: a Fic Preview
Preview of Part 3 of “A Request” || Attuma x Talokanil!Princess!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: A war has been waged in your name. When all hell breaks loose, and when you have just risen from a week long coma, you are Talokan’s hope to turn the tides of battle to defeat the enemies who had hurt your people once and for all.
Or, in which you and Attuma were not happy with the King’s decision for allegiance.
Rating: 16+  ||  Viewer Discretion is Advised.
Note: It is worthy to note that I have not included any deep Yucatec Maya phrases (besides the terms of endearment) despite the Talokanil speaking in their native tongue as respect to their language. Therefore their mother tongue shall be labeled with italics.
More notes because the author can’t stop talking: Hi hi! Super sorry this took a while; I’m currently in the middle of moving from province to the (big, very very big, it’s literally the capital) city for college! Huzzah! It’s gonna take a week for me to fully settle in so I might be a tad bit slow on responses as well, so super sorry in advance if I can’t get to you in time. Nevertheless, the love I’ve gotten for this fic and my other BP:WF works have been nothing but heartwarming so I took the in-betweens of my move to update! Love you all so much! Muah!
Part 1 ||  Part 2 ||  Part 3 (Fic Preview)
Tumblr media
“We have failed her. I had failed her,” he bowed his head in shame, “how dare I call myself her beloved—her sword, her shield—when she had been attacked by those people? How can I show myself to K'uk'ulkan when I have failed so miserably? I promised I'd be with her, but she—! But I just…”
Attuma must still be frustrated that the Wakandan princess isn’t dead, Namora thought.
Their warning to Wakanda was of great scale. K'uk'ulkan's righteous fury had so taken the life of the queen of their home nation. The life of a queen was the retribution delivered for scarring the crowning glory of Talokan's most precious treasure.
Hardly a fair exchange, one would argue, but you were the Radiant Pearl of the Sea. A drop of blood from your skin from the atrocities of a fiendish foe was worth a thousand deaths of their enemy's kin.
Namora patted Attuma's back twice, her lips pressing into a thin line as she held back her own heartbreak. To see her childhood friends in such a state…it was eating her up from the inside out.
“You are still those things, Attuma. Her sword, her shield, her beloved,” Namora felt her own guilt weigh her down, but she held her chest up high to set an example for Attuma to see, “what happened in the caves was not your fault. K'uk'ulkan knows that. The princess knows—”
“It doesn't matter!” His voice was strong and mighty, the waters around then shaking by the anger and the frustrations from his voice. Attuma was grateful that they were still in the sea—his tears were hidden and drifting away with the currents.
“Attuma…”
“If that is all, Namora, then I'd appreciate it if you leave. I'll be there as soon as I am done.”
Namora sighed.
Attuma's stubbornness was getting on her nerves.
“Have you so little faith in the princess?” The female warrior could hardly believe that those words had escaped her mouth. But the damage had been done; and it was something that needed to be said.
Attuma snapped his head to Namora in shock, but it slowly morphed into a warning glare.
“What are you instigating?” He asked with gritted teeth. Namora stared at him passively.
“You know her more than anyone. She will not blame you nor would she want you to practically weep whilst we prepare for our next battle. What would she say if she saw you despicably wallowing in self-pity?”
“You watch your mouth.” Attuma stood up, his frame towering over the female general and covering her whole. Despite the waves of rising anger, Namora did not stand down.
“Am I wrong?”
“You dare—”
Namora swiftly raised her spear and pointed it towards Attuma's neck. He glared daggers at his fellow general, but Namora's piercing gaze had left him speechless. Was this the power of K'uk'ulkan's own blood, he wondered, for such eyes would ground him and lower his gaze in their presence?
“You promised to burn them down in her name, correct? She will rouse in due time, but you were given an order. She has faith in you to carry her will; now it is your turn to have faith in her to do her part in recovery.”
Attuma stayed silent.
Namora kicked his spear up and caught it mid-air. She lowered her own spear and shoved the shaft into his chest, her eyes burning with a new resolve. Attuma could only accept it while gripping the weapon with such strength that would have left dents in the metal if it weren't made of raw vibranium.
Namora hit the butt of her spear on the ground.
“You are wasted here. Instead of weeping for a circumstance that you cannot control, you have the power to fulfill her orders this instant. 'Burn the world,' was it? Well then—a battalion awaits your command to burn it with you, General Attuma.”
Attuma looked down on the weapon in his hands. It gleamed with an imminent danger, the inscriptions of his name carved into the metal. Along with it were delicate paintings of sharks and waves, something that you had so meticulously drawn for him as a joke, a playful way to annoy him, you always said. But he kept it there; you made it, after all.
He glanced at you, your body incredibly still. His eyes lingered on your face, and like a helpless catch to a fisherman's bait, he slowly bent down to kiss your forehead and inhaled your scent one last time before he went to battle.
“I will follow your will to the ends of the earth. And though you lay still with no signs of waking, know that my heart lays with you, my love. My world…”
Namora stared impressed at Attuma as soon as he straightened himself with a newfound determination. There were no more signs of that pitiful man who stayed by your bedside while waiting for a miracle, no more signs of an estranged soldier who'd rather rot at your feet until you woke.
In Namora's eyes he saw a steeled warrior. A king candidate who would fight to the death for his world.
And that world was you, his beloved.
“For the princess.” Namora raised her spear towards him, her chin held up higher in pride. Attuma followed suit, his spear drawn and spears clinking with a new promise.
A new vow.
For the first time since you had been bedridden, Attuma showed a sliver of a smile.
“For the princess.”

Coffee Love
The silence of the candy shop has been replaced with the constant chatter of the people in the coffee shop. It was one of those days when Kisuke and I could just relax for one day. No Soul Reaper problems, no Hallow problems, no Ichigo problems… It was amazing.
The sweet and bitter smell of coffee wafted into the air, calming my nerves and letting my shoulders relax. It was so calming to watch the busy streets through the window as I drank my coffee and ate some sweets. That, along with my favorite company.
As happy as I was, I kind of felt stupid from how wide my smile felt. I probably looked like a creep as I watched people outside with a giant smile on my face. I wanted to hide it, but this was the best day i could ever have. So, I kept it.
“(Y/N)?”
Kisuke calls my name. When I turn away form the window to look at him, it’s obvious he has been staring at me for a very long time. “Hm?”
“”I’m…I’m in love…” He says, his eyes so wide. I never knew they could be that wide.
I straighten up in my seat, concerned about his words. “Oh…? Um, okay…”
“With you.” He says before taking a long sip of his bitter coffee.
I deadpan at his comment. Even so, I could feel a blush forming on my cheeks. I could tell he had a big grin behind his cup. “Kisuke.”
He hums in reply.
“We’ve been married for three years.”
Kisuke held his gaze with me, the cup now being set on the table. “Oh, I know,” he smiles, “I just can’t help falling in love with you over and over and over…”
I look back out the window with a huff. “Will you stop? Why do you have to do this in public?” I whine.
He chuckles. “Because, my darling, it’s adorable seeing you still get flustered with my flirty comments even after three years of marriage.” He takes another sip. “Not to mention that beautiful smile of yours is something I can not get enough of.”
“Kisuke!” My smile grew at his constant compliments. “You are despicable.”
“And you love it.”
“Yes, I do.”

Wedding Night
Pairing: Sam Wilson x fem!Reader
Word count: ~1k
Summary: Sam is Best Man, you're Maid of Honour... exciting times ensue :)
Warnings: swearing, alcohol, fluff, implied smut, 18+ only! Sam and reader are both intellectual sluts and I love them for it
Masterlist
Hello! First time writing Sam on his own and it's been so fun, enjoy <3
Tumblr media
“Are we going to have sex, then?”
Sam quirks an eyebrow. “Do you want to?”
The bartender walks nonchalantly away. You consider that they have far superior restraint concerning eavesdropping than yourself. You would be ducking underneath the bar for some juicy gossip if you were in their shoes.
But you wouldn’t have asked that scandalous question under any normal circumstances, let’s be clear. It was the cosmos, of course.
And the heat. And the Maid of Honour stress. And the despicably sexy Best Man.
Definitely, determinedly, absolutely not your fault at all.
You sigh, offer up a lopsided smile. Fiddle with the bar mat resting beneath your fingertips. The bride and groom are swaying absentmindedly in the centre of the room. One more dance, Carmen had said. I need to get her home, Joaquín had said. Soon they’ll be gone, and the floor will be open for you to strut any kind of tango you wish.
“I’m trying to decide whether you’d think me easy and then struggle to respect me for the remainder of time or not.”
You say this, and a fanciful applause echoes inside your ears. YEAHHHH, the crowds roar, SHE’S DONE IT AGAIN. It was a droll line, perhaps one of your best. And you’re calm, composed. Like a duck, or swan: graceful and poised at first glance, frantically flapping beneath the surface.
You see Sam gearing up for his reply. This conversation reads like a tennis match. Tense gasps, whiplashed necks. Perhaps any enthusiastic grunting will commence before you even make it to a hotel room.
“Nah, don’t worry.” He’s smirking. This better be good. “I’m a man that respects female pleasure. Reveres it, even.”
Your reaction is casual, professional. Raised eyebrows, tilted head, but from a short distance you could be talking about the thrills of aggressive eBay auctions. Or stocks.
“How very progressive,” you reply.
“I try.” The music fades, and you turn to watch the newlyweds exit the building. Carmen only waves – you’ll talk tomorrow, clearly there’s more pressing business you both have to be getting on with. Your attention is diffused for a moment; Sam hasn’t completely caught it like he might have dreamed, and he notices. The smirk falls, he tries to turn things around: “Too much, maybe?”
“Hm.” Your eyes still wander around the room, enjoying this game you have devised. Out the corner of your eye you see him shake his head, scoffing. You’ve got him hook-line-and-sinker, and he knows it. “You could afford to chill out a little.”
“Duly noted.”
You meet his eyes. They’re so pretty, luminous. “It might make you seem more sincere; you see. At the moment I feel like you’re just placating me.”
You want this; you deserve this. You’ve spent the day holding Carmen’s surprisingly heavy train – over damp mud and grass, the wedding aisle, the bathroom as she peed three times every hour. And it’s practically the Maid of Honour’s duty to get off with the Best Man, isn’t it? Especially if he’s single and literally Captain Sexy himself. You imagine he could always do with some stress relief as well, being the incredibly righteous and upstanding gentleman you frequently watch bossing speeches on TV.
This is a win-win situation. You’re thoroughly convinced.
Sam takes a small step back. “We don’t actually have to--”
“Come on, then.” You hold out your hand for him to take, grabbing your martini glass in the other and leading him towards the hotel foyer.
“Don’t you want to bring your drink?” you ask. His beer is left behind on the bar.
“I was thinking I’d go onto red . . .”
“God, you’re so hot.”
He laughs, rubs your thumb with his own. He’s that intoxicating concoction of nerves, excitement and complete self-assuredness that has your breaths catching and falling, your ankles wobbling in your heels. Inside the elevator, you bend to slip them off.
When you straighten again, Sam is closer, his hands rising to hold your face. Your mouth falls open, you might be . . . panting?
“I don’t want to be that guy,” he whispers. “I don’t want to be that guy that you sleep with once and only ever see online, or every once in a while at events like this." He grimaces. "I don’t want it to be awkward, you know?”
“Okay,” you say.
“Can we go on a date tomorrow? Dinner, or just lunch? Hell: breakfast!”
You giggle. “Okay.”
He finally presses his lips to yours. “I like you,” between kisses.
“Mmph,” you protest. “You don’t even know me.”
“I do.” He’s insistent, the elevator doors open and you’re immediately dragged through. “I know you a little bit.”
Blindly along the corridor a little way and tumbling onto a hotel bed, Sam is heavy on top of you. He tries to relieve some of the pressure, propping himself up on his elbows, sliding off to the side of you, but you resist, tugging him down with your hands, locking him in with your legs.
The friction is heavenly and he struggles to find his words amongst your lips. “And soon I’m gonna know what you look like naked, and when you come, and what your favourite breakfast food is.” He tugs your dress up impatiently, knowing exactly where to find the zip, and ever so quickly there’s goosebumps crawling all over your skin.
A choked: “Shit,” as the lace cups of your bra are pulled down.
You have to get his shirt off now. You’re being too rough, really, yanking his neck with the tie, stretching the buttonholes. You promise yourself you’ll calm down in a second, but you need to see him.
“I know that you’re smart, and funny,” he carries on. “And you make me feel like an idiot.”
You’re running your hands over his chest and it’s even better than you imagined, god, he’s so soft and full. His abs tighten as you touch him and he’s grinding into you now, you’re both ready, this needs to happen.
“We’re gonna talk on our date, and I swear, y/n, I’m going to know you. If you’ll let me.”
“Fuck,” you whisper. You weren’t prepared for this. This level of intimacy. He’s got you now, no doubt, and you’re letting yourself fall.
“I want to know you too.”

NSFW ~ Yamato x F! Reader ~ Play That Melody For Me ~ [PART 1]
Tumblr media
TW: HE/HIM pronouns used for Yamato (as it should be). Nipple play, oral sex, toys (strap on), face sitting, usage of alcohol, wet dreams.
WC: 1.9K
Tag list: @undercoverweeeb @mistyroselove @onepieceya (tagging you because you love Yamato :3)
There is a second part for this fic, read it here ♥
Tumblr media
“My dear Tayu, Yamato, Son of Kaido is here” one of your helpers announces from behind the folding screen. The shadow of a tall man awaits you outside. “Son of Kaido, tch” you grunt, tightening the knot of your kimono strap around your waist...
You open the folds to appreciate your next “client”. There he is, long white hair, taller than anyone there, strong arms. You scan his whole body, from up and down. He smiles at you, yellow intense eyes fixed on yours.
“Please, come in” you tell him. He follows you inside. “Take a seat” you command. Yamato sits over a few cushions, crossing his legs. He ties his hair up in a ponytail, and when he does so, his clothes show a sideboob that it’s impossible for you to ignore.
“So, Mr. Yamato, what service would you like?” you ask him, trying to end this situation as soon as possible. The white haired man looks at you and smiles kindly. “Please, call me Oden”, he says.
You gasp and shut your eyes… Your blood boils. “Oden? Oden is my father and your bastard father killed him” you think and avoid shouting it by biting the inside of your mouth. Yamato notices your lack of words, and probably the fire in your eyes.
“Are you ok?” he asks. You shake your head, fighting between jumping and stabbing the man in front of you, or simply accepting his request. If you ever tell him the truth -especially to him-, Denjiro and you would have wasted almost twenty years and the plan to take down Kaido would be ruined.
“Ok, Oden... Tell me then, what’s the service?” you ask him again, choking back tears as you pronounce your dad’s name. He tilts his head and stands up. Yamato approaches you, brushing soft, slender fingers over your cheek. He lifts your chin up and stares into your soul for sure. “I don’t think you are ok right now; I will come back tomorrow” he says. You notice the gold shackles around his wrists and wonder why Kaido’s son has them.
You nod, out of words. You’d lie if you don’t find Yamato, not only intimidating, but also handsome as hell. The man that dares to act like your father leaves the room, but not before flashing you a sexy smile. His huge anatomy, then, disappears as he slides the paperlike door close.
Your legs turn weak, and you fall to the ground. Your knees hit the wooden floor under them, but it doesn’t hurt. Your heart does. “Why… Why me?” you say as warm tears run down your face.
Night comes, and you flop into bed, exhausted. You watch a bright half-moon shining on the dark blue sky of the night through the window. Sakura flowers falling like snow, dancing with the warm breeze of that summer, summer number nineteen… you only have to wait for the next summer… Mum's promise… Your eyelids fall and you slowly travel to the oneiric world.
Images of the despicable son of Kaido over you, his hands on your body. Cold metal feeling over your skin as his shackles rub your flesh. Your fingers tangled around white strands of hair. Your breathing accelerated.
You suddenly open your eyes. Panting, you only realized this was just a dream. “Just… a… dream…” you reassure yourself. Yet, your inner thighs feel wet. Your skin burns, your cheeks too. Heartbeats you can hear. Aroused.
Your fingers travel from your naked belly towards your underwear. You feel how wet that dream has made you. But quickly guilt hits you, hard. “What are you doing, (name)?” you say to yourself, taking your hand off your core. “He is your enemy, stop” ...
---
“Mrs. Oiran… good morning!” a little pink haired girl wakes you up. She greets you with a big smile, laughing as always. “My darling!!” you say and snatch the little bean into your arms. You hug her, you love the little girl. “(Name)! Someone sent you something today! Hahaha” she informs you. “Oh, really? What is it?” you ask. The little girl stands up and runs towards a box decorated with the finest rice paper and some flowers. “Here! Open it!” she says.
The box holds a note that says, “I want you to play the "Tsukihime" melody for me today”. Tears sprout from your eyes, blurring your vision. Inside there is a new Shamisen. And despite being brand new, it looks exactly the same as the one she used to play when she was a little girl. The one that your father, Oden, gifted to you. The one that got burned when his father burned the castle. You hated the man with burning passion. Why does he have to call himself like your dad, why did he have to give you that exact same shamisen as a present… Why from all the songs in the world, he had to choose your father’s favourite melody?... Why does he have to be so handsome?...
And the afternoon is here, and he is too. Again the shadow of your enemy. He is there, behind the paper folding screen, waiting for you… You look through your window, Kyoshiro -Denjiro- looks up to you from the entrance of the Okiya. His sleepy eyes beg for you to bear with it just a little longer. He knows how difficult this is for you, he really knows.
The voice of that man pulls you out from the unspoken connection you have with your friend and protector. You don’t turn around; you just move your head to your shoulder. You feel him approaching you. “Did you like my gift?” he asks, whispering softly near your ear. It’s insane how much his simple presence can make you weak, confused, aroused.
“I did, thank you my Sir” you lie. “Please, play that song for me” he asks. You turn around, looking up at his face. He looks at you, fixing once again his golden eyes on yours. The tension between your bodies is so strong, your skin burning.
You take your gaze off him, grab the instrument, and sit on your turquoise cushion. He does the same in front of you. Your skilled fingers start playing the cords, the melody from your childhood resonates all around the room. Yamato enjoys the notes of such beautiful song. “I wanted to hear this for so long… it is just amazing” he says, as if it was the first time, he was hearing the melody…
Soon, the melody stops. You wait for him to speak, but he doesn’t. So you take the lead. “So.. Do you want me to play another song?” you ask. But he is lost in your body. Yamato approaches you; his soft thumb grazes your lip. You gasp, something feels fancier on your core. Yet, you take your head off to the side. He is your enemy, how are you supposed to be with the son of the man that killed your dad?... but your thoughts got interrupted…
Yamato grabbed your chin and aligned it with his mouth. Soft tender lips over yours, his tongue separating yours. You can’t resist, you don’t want to resist. You want him…
Gently, your back hits the cushion. Yamato straddling over you, white strands of hair falling on each side of your face. The sound of the cuffs he has on his wrists hitting the wooden floor around you.
Lustful sights on each other, your hands travel through his back. He kisses you again, your tongues dance around. His hand little by little sliding the side of your kimono off, until your breasts get completely exposed to him.
Yamato’s mouth traces a path from your lips to your neck, and then lowering until it reaches your breasts. His hands squeeze gently the flesh of your tits, his lips rub your hard nipples. You moan, feeling a mix of lust and guilt, but you don’t stop him.
The son of Kaido deliciously sucks your sensitive nipples, he nibbles and pulls from them. You squirm at the sensation; the pleasure he makes you feel slowly fades the hate…
Yamato stretches his arm to reach for the sakazuki of sake you have served on the side. He lets the alcohol drip over your chest. The cold drops of it make your skin react with little spasms. Your lover licks every drop from your chest, the dry taste of the sake mixed with your skin makes Yamato relish at such a delicious flavour.
His lips lowers and lowers, until they get to your belly button. He traces a circle around it, you whine and extend your arm. Your fingers around his long hair. He grunts. His tongue finally gets to your core.
“I love your taste” he mumbles. You just babble in response, as his skilful tongue makes wonders with your sex. “So tasty, so wet” ...
Your inner thighs get bruised with the horns of his head, as your legs try to close due to the intense stimulation. But that’s not enough, not for him, not for you.
On the verge of an orgasm, Yamato stands up. He walks towards his bag and brings a strap on. Black phallic figure that hangs from a red string. Red string that he quickly ties around his hip bones after letting his clothes slide to the ground.
You wait for him to pound into you with your legs spread open and your eyes scanning such an amazing body. You call him with a beckoning finger. He smiles, sexily and approaches you.
The cold material of the strap on gets damped in your arousal, as he rubs it up and down your sex. “Yamato, fuck me” you beg. He flinches at that name but doesn’t pressure you to call him Oden… and then, he penetrates you, sliding inside, so deep, and steady.
Your nails carve the skin of his back, his breasts fall over your face as he thrusts you. Your tongue stuck out grazing his nipples. Both of you moan, whine, enjoy.
And your orgasm inevitably arrives, and you come shouting his name. Your head thrown back; your mandible hurts from sucking his hard nipples. And even if you were exhausted, there is no time to waste. Is Yamato’s turn to come, and you are an expert in such practices.
“Why don’t you sit on my face?” you command him. “Are you sure?” he asks, aware of his huge anatomy. “Please, I wanna get suffocated under those thighs” you tell him, and he does not think any further. Soon his sex is over your mouth, and you enjoy every single part of his core. You suck, lick, taste his arousal, until Yamato comes squirming over your countenance.
Both of you lay over the cushions on the floor, admiring the sakura petals rain over the city through the window. He caresses your body, and softly tells you “I’m sorry if I asked you to call me Oden…”. You don’t really understand why he says such a thing… Does he know who you are? “What do you mean?” you ask. “I know who you are, (name)” he whispers, low enough for just you to hear it.
You stand up, scared. “How… how do you know my name?” you tell him. “I have your dad’s diary… that’s why I asked the only person that knows how to play that melody to do it for me… I’m on your side, Princess..." ♥ ~

Day 2
When you wake up, the sticky feeling from between your thighs is gone. Your body is still bare but the sheet wrapped around you is enough to keep you warm. With the morning light shining through the windows, your finally able to look around the room. You sit up against the headboard, noticing the pain in your thighs as you drag them up. The room is simply decorated. The walls a dull shade of white with a neat desk in the corner. A few plants littering around the room, giving it colour.
The sound of the door opening brings your attention over to the person entering, your hands quickly bringing the sheets to cover your top half. Taeyong walks in, dressed in a white shirt and shorts, clearly having already showered.
“I made you breakfast. I know it’s just a bowl of cereal, but it’s the only thing I won’t burn.” He tells you, taking a seat beside you on the bed. His piercing eyes from the night before now soft and rounded.
“Thanks.” You mumble, bringing your arms out of the sheet to grab the bowl from him gratefully.
Taeyong smiles at you, the silence seeming strangely comfortable. You couldn't tell what this man was thinking. When you first met him, he looked at you like you were something delicate, the way he carefully approached you, pushed your hair behind your ears. Then last night happened, not that you didn’t enjoy the sex, but it was ….terrifying. You didn't realise his personality could change so drastically in just the little time you’d known him.
“Hey baby, I hope you don't mind wearing one of my shirts for now. I got one of the guys to bring your clothes from your place for you.”
“My clothes?” You question, confused.
“Yeah.”
“Why are you bringing them here?”
“Because your moving in with me.” He states, bringing one of your hands to his lap.
“Wh-what?!” You stutter out.
“It’ll be fun.”
“Wait no, I can’t.” You shake your head violently, “I won’t.”
“Baby I wasn't really giving you a choice on that.” He warns, his voice suddenly low.
“Look, I don't know if you’re okay or if you need some help but I’m not moving in with you, I don't even know you!” You tell him, your voice rising with your words, not finding his jokes amusing, “I don’t even know your name for fucks sake.”
“Baby don't swear; I don't like it.” He murmurs, his hand stroking circular motions on the back of your palm soothingly, “And my name’s Taeyong.”
“I won’t tell anyone about last night,” You whisper desperately, “just let me go.”
Taeyong lets the thought swim around in his head for a bit. Truth be told, he was going to have you no matter what, but perhaps you’d give him a little more liking if he lied.
“How about you move in with me for just a week, if you really hate me then you can leave.” He proposes.
“I’ll leave when I want,” you tell him, getting ready to pull off the bed sheets still covering your naked body, ready to leave exposed if you have to. Taeyong is quick to stop you, only needing to grip onto your wrist harshly to prevent you from moving.
“Baby, I gave you an offer, you can take it or decline it.” He cautions, “I didn't say you could bargain with me.”
His dark eyes are drilled into yours. And you can’t help but notice, the depth of the ink, sorrow, perhaps pain, that was hiding behind them. You couldn't see the whites of his eyes anymore, nor the vessels that flowed through them. He looked, frightening.
“I-I’ll take the offer.” You stutter out. His gaze makes you gulp, suddenly losing the attitude you originally had. You decide to just follow through with his words for now, you could always leave when he wasn’t around.
“Great well, let’s take you around the house for now.” He chimes, eyes instantly switching back as he happily grabs your untouched bowl, putting it on the bedside table. He walks over to his cupboard, pulling out a plain black t-shirt and brings it over to you, helping you slip it on.
“Lift your arms up baby.”
“I can do it myself,” You tell him, feeling embarrassed to let the sheets fall and your body expose itself to his eyes.
“Let me.” He pleads, his right hand taking yours and locking his fingers with yours. You let out a sigh, and you nod, wanting to hide under the sheets in a sheepish mess. Surprisingly he doesn't say anything as your breasts reveal themselves out of the sheets. His eyes are still trained on you, helping you slip the fabric over your head.
“Thanks,” You whisper, feeling flushed under his eyes. He laughs lightly, noticing the red in your face. He cups your cheeks and gently squeezes your face before pecking your lips.
“Wow don’t you just look adorable.” He exclaims, drawing out the last syllable. For some reason all his words and gestures only confuse you, strangely feeling like you were already use to his presence, his touch.
The fabric of his shirt reaches below your thigh, better than nothing. He peels back the bed sheet, giving you a hand to help you off the bed. You stumble a little, the sudden weight on your weaker legs unable to withstand the pain. Taeyong snakes an arm around your waist to support you just as you trip, already prepared to catch you.
The memories of the earlier event vanish as soon as you step outside his room. Who would’ve known the door would lead to such a large open, spacious area with a breath-taking view of your city. A huge flat-screen television dominated one wall, with a soft leather couch directly in line. However, it was the transparency of the windows that surprised you.
Your feet began walking to the glass, Taeyong following beside you. You must’ve been on the top floor of whatever building you were in. The faint outlines of people on the road, the entire view of the city in your sight.
“Wow.” You breathed out.
“Still don't want to live with me?” He whispers, moving to stand behind you so he’s able to envelop you around your waist. His head rests against your shoulder as you both stare out at the city, the sunlight shining on your skin.
“Who are you?” You mumble out-loud. You had no idea what was going on anymore. Who was this guy? How could he afford this place? What had happened in such a short time was over-whelming. The butterflies return to you as his hands lock around your stomach.
“Someone whose absolutely in love with you.” He murmurs, pressing a soft kiss on your neck.
You pull away quickly, the words swimming through your mind at a rapid pace. Taeyong takes a step back, letting you have some space to yourself as he walks over to his couch.
“What do you normally watch at home?” He asks, reaching for the remote and changing it to a netflix channel. You’re still lost in your thoughts when he calls again, “Baby?”
“I-I don't mind.”
“Okay, I’ll choose something then,” he replies, deciding between the first or second movie of Despicable Me.
You break your gaze from the city and turn around to look at him, “I didn't take you for a kid’s movie type.”
“It’s a cute movie.” He shrugs, patting the empty side of the couch beside him.
You sit down beside him, leaving a clear distinct line between the two of you to avoid being right next to him. You’re aware of the minimal clothing you’re wearing (only one of his shirts) so you keep your legs crossed on the couch, pulling the fabric down to cover as much as possible.
As the movie plays you can finally feel like you’re relaxing, immersed in the childish scenes playing out as both of you laugh. It feels comfortable.
You didn't have many friends, only receiving a few texts and calls from them once in a while to talk about their own love life. You were mainly focused on your education, barely taking any social time to explore. The one night you did, bought you here. You had gone for a blind date set up by your college friend and you agreed reluctantly. The guy was a jerk, leaving you alone in the middle of a dark street as he receives a call from his ex, clearly not over her.
That was just a few minutes before you had run into Jaehyun killing a man. And seconds later, you were bought here. To Taeyong.
Around 30minutes in your legs start cramping suddenly, most likely from sitting cross legged the whole time. Taeyong notices you shift in your seat, your hands massaging your lower calves.
“Put your legs up, you need to stretch them.” He tells you, patting his legs for you to swing them over.
You hesitate for a minute, but his expression’s sincere, “Thanks.”
You place your legs on his lap, finally stretching them out and Taeyong starts massaging your calf for you. “Is it this leg?" He asks, bringing your left leg closer to him.
“Yeah.” Taeyong wraps an arm around your legs, keeping you there as he adjusts himself, sitting comfortably. Your hands hold onto the hem of your current shirt, making sure it doesn't move.
As the movie’s almost finishing, your cramps have subsided. You realise Taeyong had continued to massage your leg, using less pressure throughout the movie. As you’re staring at his soft features, still mesmerised by the little minions on the TV, your brought back into reality.
“Taeyong?”
“Yes baby?” He replies, eyes still drawn to the movie.
“Why am I here?”
He reaches for the TV remote, pausing the movie, his focus now on you. “What do you mean?” He asks.
“Why didn’t you let me go?”
“Because I like you.”
“You don't know me.” You sigh, exasperated at his response.
“I don't know you? Are you sure about that baby?” He asks, amused at your question.
“I’ve been here for what? Maybe less than a day? Of course you don't know me!” You tell him, stating the obvious.
“Baby I do know you though,” He says, smiling smugly, “I know how to make you scream, I know how to make you beg for a fucking, I know -.”
“Fuck off Taeyong.” You growl, his arrogant attitude annoying you again.
“What did I say about swearing.” He tsks, pulling your body closer to him by tugging on your legs. Your shirt rides up as he drags you, nearly revealing your ass.
“Don't touch me.” You warn, snarling back at him, as you move back to your side of the couch, bringing your legs back to your body.
“That’s not very nice.”
“What’s with you and your crappy attitude Taeyong? One minute your soft and kind, the next you’re like some arrogant lit-.”
“Baby I suggest you reconsider that sentence.” He grins, relaxed and confident as he moves closer, his hands gripping onto your exposed thigh.
“Arrogant little bastard.” You finish.
Taeyong lets out a low chuckle, his eyes flipping a visible switch as he stands up and picks you up easily, throwing you over his shoulder. You let out a squeal in surprise, slapping him on the back as you shriek.
He kicks open his bedroom door, throwing you onto the bed as you land with a soft thud. Before your able to grasp the situation, he opens the drawer from the bedside table slipping the small gold key from around his neck off, he unlocks the case of a square box. The lid flips open and he brings something out of the case. Your neck is craned in the direction, watching his fast movements.
"What are you doing?" You ask, sitting up immediately when you see the item. Taeyong reveals a large, egg-shaped object with a faint string (unnoticeable to you) coming out of it. “Punishing you.”
“What is that?” You gasp, seeing the shape of it.
Your unable to see it properly as he turns around, pulling you by your ankles as you fall back against the mattress. He grabs your thighs tightly, pushing them apart. "You're dripping, baby. I can see your juices running out of you already.”
“What? No I’m not.” You argue, feeling insulted at his statement.
The shirt now no longer covering your thighs lets you feel the air of the ceiling fan spinning above you. Taeyong’s eyes staring right at your exposed pussy. You see him lean forward, bringing the object in his hand closer to your thighs.
You tense and brace yourself, expecting him to shove it in, but the hard shove doesn't come. Instead, he presses gently, rolling the probe back and forth in tiny motions. His other hand slips between your legs as his fingers stroke your pussy and you let out a loud moan.
Eventually, he slips it inside of you, pushing it completely in and leaving only a thin string hanging. The shock paralyses you for a second, as you feel yourself engulfing it whole. Then you shriek and burst into tears as he turns a wheel on a small remote. The vibrator comes to life, buzzing inside you.
“Oh my god Taeyong!” You scream, your hands travelling everywhere, bundling in the sheets and clawing at your own thighs. You squeeze your thighs shut involuntarily and it only causes the vibrations to intensify, bringing a soft moan from your mouth. Taeyong stands up from the bed, pulling up his reading chair next to the bed. He sits down, adjusting the chair for the best view, and watches you write against the bedsheets.
“Ta-take it out.” You groan. He leans back in the chair, smiling, watching you struggle. You thrust your hips in the air, trying to dislodge the buzzing toy; but from his point of view, it looks like you’re fucking an invisible partner. You writhe and twist, as he turns up the speed and power of the vibrator.
“Ju-just fuck me,” You stutter out in a moaning mess, desperate for him.
“What was that baby?” He asks, genuinely surprised at your sudden confession. He turns the dial down for you to repeat yourself, but not completely off.
“Ta-take it out and just fuck me.” “Not right now baby.” He smiles and laughs, leaning back again as he switches it back to high.
The vibrations inside you continue relentlessly as your body grows weak with exhaustion. You clench involuntarily around the hard, smooth object as the vibrations become tingles in your belly.
Taeyong watches. Little by little, the tingle becomes stronger. The thing inside you thrums, fanning the desire into a sense of raging, desperate need. You sigh and moan as your hips rock up and down.
"Good girl. Take it." Taeyong murmurs, moving beside you now to let his one finger part your folds. You let out a gasp as he finds your clit. "This feels good, doesn't it?"
“Y-yes.”
He moves his finger in circle motions against you as the constant buzz chips away inside of you. Soon your hips were rocking again, your head thrown back in a whining mess as he presses harder against your clit. You whimper wordlessly and grind your hips against his finger. "Please...please..." The need consumes you. Your body left on fire as all you can think of is nothing but the vibration inside. You clench and thrust your hips upward.
Taeyong grabs the cord, pulling the vibrator out of you with a single rough tug. The tingle abruptly stops and replaces you with emptiness, tinged with desperation. You felt wetness roll down your thigh, and you pushed your hips back, frantic, longing to feel something inside again but finding only empty air.
He replaces it with his fingers, pushing them roughly inside of you at a savage pace. You let out a loud sob. “You love this, don't you?” He chuckles, continuing his thrusts. "You still need more, don't you, little slut? You can't get enough." He picks up the egg-shaped vibrator again. "Let's see if this does the trick." Without preamble, he shoves it roughly inside your lips, watching it disappear. You gasp and shake as he turns it on to its maximum setting for the first time, letting it resume the hard, insistent vibrations.
Your orgasm comes, ripping through your body like molten fire, and as you clench and tighten, pain lashes through you, too.
When it’s s over, you crash back to earth in a shock. Taeyong turns off the vibrator, pulling it from you with a slurping sound. You make a weak mewling noise as it finally leaves your weakened body. He sits on the side of the bed and pulls you onto his lap; your body curling up around him in instinct as he strokes your hair.
“You did well baby. So well.” he murmurs. Finally, some small amount of strength flows back into you. You open your eyes and look up at him, able to speak at last. "What was that for?" He brushes a stray hair away from your eyes, and looks down at you. "Because you swore again." He smiles.

A/N: Not much Dracula in this chapter and I apologise for it! I'm trying to progress the story while keeping it entertaining. Still hope you can enjoy it.
Also, as I was reviewing this I realised not everyone might get a reference I threw in there (you'll know when). If you're curious about what I'm referring to, just watch this clip at the 2:40 mark (do NOT watch it around other people).
____________________________________________________
My gaze crossed with his over the table. He took a knight between two fingers, hovering in the air in thought. The dull light of a cloudy day streamed in at our right, creating shadows on the chessboard and making the pieces look bigger than they actually were. My eyes flickered to the ticking clock next to the chess board and then back to his. He frowned at my smirk. The knight hung ominously over my remaining bishop and I raised an eyebrow.
“I taught you that,” Renfield complained, pointing his knight at me. “It doesn’t work on me.”
The clock chimed, signaling that his time was over. I gave him a toothy grin as he stared in shock at the sequence of zeros on display. With his clock zeroed, mine started counting down from 3 minutes.
“Doesn’t it?” I giggled, plucking the white knight from between his limp fingers and placing on the square it had been before. I pushed a black rook forward across the chessboard very slowly, the prospect of victory swelling inside me and making me outright laugh at the defeat on his face. I knocked the knight I’d just placed with my piece, leaving nothing in between his king and my rook. Renfield pressed the bridge of his nose with two fingers and swore as I retrieved the downed piece. “Good luck getting out of this. Check.”
I clicked the button on top of my clock to finish my move. Renfield stiffened, shooting me a cold look.
“When did you get so devious?”
“Don’t be a sore loser. You won all the past matches! This loss will be good for you, you’ll learn humility.”
“Funny,” he said, although he didn’t laugh, shifting his calculating eyes back to the chessboard.
Renfield supported an elbow on the table, fingers resting on his temple, like he was conspiring against a prosecution. I blinked, trying to stop the smile that threatened to overcome my mouth. Were it not for the sterile environment and the annoying ambient music, I could’ve thought we were back at work. My phone buzzed on top of the table, attracting both of our gazes.
“Is that Count Dracula?” He inquired, gaze focused on the chessboard again, doing an excellent job of sounding uninterested.
“Of course not, it’s ten in the morning,” I said as I reached for the mobile. “Isn’t he supposed to be in his cof--uh, bed?” I corrected, glancing at the nurse, Margaret, sitting not far from us. She had her head buried in a magazine but every once in a while I would catch her leaning her ear closer.
“He’s got a regular bed, Y/N,” he murmured, rolling his eyes.
I unlocked my phone.
“I know. It was a j--”
“Oh, do you?”
“Are you twelve?” I snapped and Renfield giggled, only reinforcing my suspicion. “Time is flying,” I indicated the chessboard and Renfield stopped laughing. I blew out a breath as I read the text that had made my phone buzz. “Since when is Evelyn getting married?”
“She sent the invites ages ago.”
“She did?” I raised my eyebrows, trying to remember if I’d seen it in my pile of mail back at home. “We work in the same office. Couldn’t she have hand delivered it?” He shot me a look. “I see what you mean. She thinks she’s bloody Posh Spice.”
Renfield’s hand stopped mid-air, on his way to move a rook but changed his mind at the last second, tapping his temple again.
“Who?”
“Oh, you’ll get on my case about Dracula like you’re a schoolgirl but don’t know who Posh Spice is?”
Nurse Margaret snickered, raising her magazine to conceal her affected grin, only confirming my suspicion that she could hear snippets of our conversation.
“The Beckham girl, of course I know,” Renfield glanced at Margaret, furrowing his brow. “I was very absorbed in my game and wasn’t listening,” he uttered the last bit louder, staring directly at the nurse. Her face became as red as a tomato. She skittered up from the couch she’d been sitting on, moving swiftly towards the nurse station on the other side of the room. Once she was out of earshot, Renfield said, “Is Evelyn asking you to RSVP?”
“Do I have to?” I grimaced. “The wedding isn’t even in London. I don’t like her and I have to travel all the way to Berkeley?”
“You know you have to.”
“Maybe I’ll get the flu. An aneurysm, if I’m lucky!”
“Her surname is on our calling card, Y/N.”
“Damn it.”
Renfield just looked at me and I slumped down on my chair. It didn’t matter if I was winning at chess when I was absolutely being defeated in this subject. I couldn’t not go to Evelyn Seymour’s wedding, the only remaining direct descendant of Edward Seymour, one of our firm’s original founders in 1821. Her surname was first in line when talking about the most prestigious law firm in London, followed by Sterling and May. From birth, she had a seat reserved for her at the firm, her birthright if I wanted to get poetic about it. Although her surname didn’t instantly grant her power over the entire business, she treated everyone like it did and that was precisely why I didn’t like her. My arrogance was an easily dispensed front but Evelyn’s owed hers to bad parenting, if I had to guess.
“I can’t go, obviously. I imagine all the other partners will be there, except me,” Renfield sighed and set the piece he had on his fingers to the side. He leaned forward, peering at me over his spectacles. “It’s only proper that you go to represent me,” he lifted a hand before I could protest. “Yes, you. Y/N, you’re my sole pupil I’ve taken in 30 years at that firm and only because the other partners forced me to,” he scoffed. “I was less than happy with this at the beginning, as you well know, but it’s the one thing I can be proud of in my many years of practise. As I’ve been told by many people, I’m uncaring, rude and outright despicable at times. I struggle to find many redeeming qualities in myself, although you seem to pick them out effortlessly. Somehow, under my tutelage you’ve grown to be a brilliant lawyer and, while all credit can’t be mine, I believe I’ve had a finger at shaping you into the person you’re today, which is infinitely better than me,” he cleared his throat and removed his spectacles, suddenly interested in cleaning its lenses on his shirt. “Regardless of what’s come between us, I will have nobody else representing me at that wretched woman’s wedding. It will serve her well, too, for spurning you for so many years. Let’s not spare her our spite, shall we? Do try and sneak a picture of her face at the wedding party when you sit at the partners’ table. It will do wonders for my recovery.”
I used my ring fingers to tap the inner corners of my eyes, containing the tears that threatened to spill over.
“Damn you,” I sniveled and laughed.
“Yes, well. I had to say something to convince you to go. Did it work?”
That, that was the Frank Renfield I knew. He had to still be in there, whole. His eyes were just blue, without a trace of otherness behind them as he spoke, and I grappled onto that to remain firm on my quest against Count Dracula, no matter how unlikely the odds against me.
“Of course it bloody worked. Will you try to kill me again if I give you a hug?”
He put his spectacles on, summoning a serious expression although his eyes were still welled up.
“Let me win this match and I’ll do it. No promises if I lose.”
“Do your best, then,” I smiled, gesturing to the board.
He averted his gaze to each of our pieces, analysing their positions. I left him to his devices while I typed a text back to Evelyn.
“Do you have a dress in mind?”
“Um,” I made, scrolling the screen up to check when the ceremony began. A twilight wedding should be pretty. It wasn’t the easiest time of day to choose a dress befitting of it, though. Not too fancy and not too simple wasn’t something one usually found in London’s evening wear stores. “I might have to go and get one.”
“Wear purple. It’s Evelyn’s favourite colour and she’ll be wearing white on her wedding day. Imagine her face--”
“Christ, you’re a teenage girl. How have I never noticed it before?”
“I’d been reading celebrity magazines before you brought me my books. They got to me. I’m still not over their effects, it seems,” he shuddered.
I chuckled and sent the text to Evelyn, confirming I would be there.
“Purple it is then. It’s not like she doesn’t deserve it. I’ll see if Diana wants to go with me, I’ll make her wear purple, too.”
I put my phone aside just in time to see Renfield’s next move.
“I heard that Evelyn’s fiancée is rich but not the most fetching gent. If you really want to send her into fits, take Count Dracula as your plus one. Checkmate.”
My mouth fell open as I watched him replace my king with a pawn. A pawn, of all things. I glanced between the chessboard and Renfield’s conceited grin, trying to find out how on Earth he managed to pull that off. Had I not taken that pawn into account?
“Sneaky bastard,” I said, stunned. “I wanted a win!”
“Better luck next time, I guess. At least you get a hug as a consolation prize.”
I looked at him, shaking my head.
“I’ll take it but what I’ll not take is Count Dracula to the wedding, no matter how much I want to annoy Evelyn.”
Renfield leaned back on his chair, tapping his fingers on the edge of the table.
“You’re still resisting him?”
“Please, don’t sound surprised,” I frowned. “You know I don’t take well to being underestimated.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t offend you like that,” he gave me a smile which disappeared a second later. “Frankly, I’m more surprised that he hasn’t just taken you for himself,” his voice grew thicker as he spoke.
“He won’t do that unless I give him consent.”
“And you think he won’t break that deal of yours if he grows tired of waiting?” he tilted his head like a bug.
I narrowed my eyes. His eyes had lost the bright shine that I was so used to seeing, especially when we were in court, and acquired a dreary gleam that immediately sent a shiver through me. I could only suppose that my refusal to take Count Dracula as my plus one was what set him off. From now on, I presumed that whatever I told him would be reported to his “master” so I had to choose my words with diligence.
“I’d like to think he respects me enough to keep to our deal.”
Renfield chortled, a sound so unnatural to him that I almost doubted it came out of his throat.
“I do wonder,” he started between a few more laughs, “how is it that you manage to resist him. I thought it virtually impossible.”
“There’s a disconnect, I think, between mind and body for whatever concerns Count Dracula. My body responds in one way,” my mouth went dry as I thought about his mouth on my neck and I shook my head, “but I’m still quite capable of seeing what he is.”
“Which is?”
“I don’t have to explain it to you, do I? You told me that you have love for him,” I said and he nodded, “if that’s so, you love everything in him, even the worst parts. People love the whole while acknowledging the bad and choose to ignore it. So you know that he’s a manipulative monster who has killed hundreds, perhaps thousands of people simply for the fun of it and--” I interrupted myself before I got carried away by my bitterness.
I shut my eyes, taking a moment to allow the rising wave of emotion to settle. The tightening on my throat told me there was more than bitterness but I wouldn’t trouble myself with exploring what that meant. Not now in front of Renfield.
“Y/N,” Renfield said my name with such gentleness that my eyes shot open and when I stared at him, I was met with the dark blue eyes I had grown accustomed to. He had leaned forward, an open hand extended to me over the table. I put my hand in his without a second thought. “I understand that it’s hard but do yourself a favour and surrender. Surrender with arms wide open or he’ll hurt you and those around you. Listen to me. He will. He might shower you with what you think is affection and perhaps you’ll find yourself falling for him,” he squeezed my hand in his when I started shaking my head in denial, “but at some point he’ll become impatient if you keep stalling and he’ll do it. There is no way out.”
“I know,” my voice didn’t come out, so I tried again, “I know.”
People were supposed to have choices. And while I didn’t want to be hurt more than I already was, I had to try. I had to be free of Count Dracula. If what Renfield said was true, how could I possibly be with someone who was just as willing to care for me as he was to hurt me?
My phone rang. Recognising Zoe’s number, I grabbed it and stood up. My hand and Renfield’s were still joined and I used it as leverage to bring him into a hug, forcing him to stand up. He stiffened for a second but then his arms went around me, patting my back awkwardly. His heart beat steadily and I smiled into the hug.
“See you later,” I said as I stepped back, holding tightly to his forearms. “I’ve got to run to lunch with a friend.”
“It’s still early.”
“It’s on the other side of London,” I lied. “You’re doing better. Keep doing whatever it is they have you doing here.”
“Not like I have a choice,” he said.
I almost asked him if he even wanted a choice since he was a willing slave but decided against it by giving him a smile and leaving.
________________________________________________
“News?” Zoe asked me as she organised vials inside her briefcase.
I rolled down my sleeve and let my hair down now that we were done doing ‘business’. I settled myself on a more comfortable position which wasn’t difficult since Zoe’s car was the epitome of comfort.
“He came by,” I said, putting on my courtroom face. Zoe whipped her head around towards me, frowning. “Out of nowhere. It’s not like I could have told him to hold on and call you.”
“Where did he take you?”
“We stayed in and watched telly.”
“Watched telly? That’s it?” She questioned, closing her briefcase and letting it slide to her feet, near the car’s pedals. I shrugged. “You swear?”
Her disapproving tone reminded me of my mother’s and I scowled.
“I have no reason to lie to you.”
“You have every reason to lie to me. Last time we met, you told me there was a bond between you two. Had I known this in the first place, I would--”
“Would what? Waste a perfectly good opportunity to capture Dracula because of a damned bond that’s not even my fault?” I raised my eyebrows at her and she pressed her lips in a fine line. “I’m not on his side. Or yours, for that matter. I could care less about the importance of your research, Zoe. I haven’t questioned the Jonathan Harker Foundation, have I? It’s shady business but it’s not my business. All I want is to be out of danger.” A tiny part of me questioned where would be the fun in that and I pushed it aside. That had to be the bond making its presence known. “We watched films together. Period.”
I stared at Zoe, waiting for her to chew on that.
There was no need for her to know about what happened halfway through Interview with the Vampire. Or about him carrying me to bed. After my encounter with Renfield, I wanted to forget how lovely it felt, sleeping on the Count’s arms. Dracula hadn’t done that for anyone’s benefit except his. I had to understand that.
“I don’t know if what I’m about to say will make you happy, considering-- nevermind,” Zoe shook her head. “With the samples you’ve been giving me, I’m close to synthesizing a pill that can possibly block his access to a person’s memories.”
“Possibly?”
“We’re still in initial stages of trials but it’s not like we can be certain of anything without the Count in our custody. However, I’m almost sure this pill will definitely work on you since it's being manufactured based on your genetic data.”
“Possibly and almost won’t keep him from killing me if he is able to read my memories.”
“We’re working on it, Y/N,” Zoe bit out. “One of the side effects, however, is short term memory loss. It only lasts for as long as the pill’s in effect but I’m doing my best to mitigate it.”
“What are the other side effects?”
“Heartburn, headache and mild paranoia, usually specific to loud sounds. So far that’s what we’ve got from our human subjects. None of those symptoms last very long either,” she paused, examining me. “Does Count Dracula trust you?”
“I don’t think he trusts anyone. I think he regards me… differently… than he does other people.”
“Why do you think that?”
I thought about the haunting sorrow I’d seen in Count Dracula’s eyes when he spoke about his late wife and how he immediately shut down after that. I doubted he had told many people about her.
“I just do,” I shrugged. “How long until you can give me this pill?”
“A month, if nothing goes wrong. You’d be willing to use it?”
“Can you get it ready in two weeks?”
“Two weeks! Why?”
I took a deep breath for what I was about to say.
“There’ll be a wedding, up in Berkeley. It’ll be in Berkeley Castle--”
“Huge place.”
“Exactly. I’ll take Count Dracula as my plus one. Everyone will be focused on the party and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for you to capture him--”
“We haven’t planned anything, Y/N,” Zoe interrupted, shaking her head vehemently. “It’s too soon. No, no. Absolutely not. We’ll get killed, not to say about the possible collateral damage with the guests. No.”
“We won’t get many chances like this,” the words stumbled out of my mouth in my hurry to get them out before I regretted this. “Berkeley is our best bet. Dracula will be distracted. I’ll do my very best to guarantee it. I’ll even pull a Sharon Stone if I have to. Just, please.”
“Y/N, no. I told you. It took months of planning until we could move on him and get him out of the sea. This has to be rehearsed. We would need a team of people infiltrated at the wedding, a deep knowledge of the property, not to mention contingencies set in place… It’s too much work for only two weeks.”
“I don’t care!” I slapped my thigh in frustration. “I’ll be hanging on his arm all night. If he senses something is off, I’ll know and we drop the plan. We’ve got to try.”
Zoe frowned at me.
“Why are you suddenly so desperate?”
I straightened on my seat and cleared my throat.
“He’ll grow bored of me, eventually,” I said, remembering Renfield’s sudden sympathy. “There’s no way we can know when, so I’d like to be rid of him sooner rather than later. If we wait too long I might be having this same conversation with you in a few months except I’ll have fangs on my mouth. Or not at all, in which case I’ll be six feet under.”
If I was to take everything Renfield said into account, it scared me. However, I was more frightened at the idea of losing control over the bond. Losing control over myself. From day one, sordid ideas about Count Dracula drinking my blood had pestered me. Whenever I was around him I found myself captivated by him, almost beyond reasoning. Like I always had an unseen force pushing me towards him and consuming me with nothing except raw craving. Never in my entire life had I felt such forceful desire and it terrified me. The leash, as Count Dracula had put it so well at the museum, could break at any second and I wasn’t ready for it to happen yet.
“Get your phone,” Zoe said at last.
“What for?”
“To see if we can find clear pictures of Berkeley Castle’s grounds and decide on a possible course of action,” Zoe said matter-of-factly as she secured her hair on a ponytail.
The turmoil inside me calmed down, for the most part.
“So we’re doing it?”
“Only, and only if I can have this pill done by then. If not, I’m calling it off.”
I flashed her a smile as I pulled my phone from my back pocket.
“I’ll take that.”
“Were you serious when you said that about Sharon Stone? About the Basic Instinct thing?” Zoe made a face but there was nothing in her eyes if not amusement.
“God, no,” I said and she raised an eyebrow. “Last resort thing only, if it comes to that.”
Zoe laughed, shaking her head to the sides at me.
“I hope it doesn’t come to that.”
“Me, too.”
As our laughter died down, we dove into every website we could find that had pictures of Berkeley Castle. We struck gold when the property’s floor plan and aerial view simply popped up during our Google search. According to Berkeley Castle’s own website, wedding ceremonies usually took place in the Great Hall or outside on the gardens. The reception was almost always hosted inside the castle.
Zoe’s phone ringing momentarily interrupted us. Gaze still focused on my phone’s screen, she answered her own without checking who the caller was.
“Hello?” Zoe stiffened at once, listening to whatever the person on the other end of the line was saying. “Jack. Jack. Jack, calm down, I can’t understand you,” the voice grew loud enough for me to make out the words “friends”, “Foundation” and “suicide”. I remained focused on my phone, scrolling through pictures, like I hadn’t heard anything. “No, I didn’t know. Where are you? Okay, stay there. I’m on my way and then we’ll talk.”
After more reassurances, Zoe ended the call and looked at me.
“Go. We can do this some other time,” I told her. “Is everything alright?”
“Yeah, yeah. Fine. Well, no. No. One of my students at the Foundation,” she gestured to her phone, “needs me. An emergency. I have to go. Now, actually.”
She would’ve made a terrible lawyer. Terrible voice pitch when she lied and with the way she babbled, she would be eaten alive in a courtroom. I would’ve wiped the floor with her. From what I could tell, this was the first time I had caught her in a lie and I wondered why now. I could ascribe it to the dodginess surrounding anything to do with the Foundation but my intuition told me there was more to it.
Prying would probably result in more lies.
“Of course,” I said, flashing her a brief smile, “I understand. Call me when you can.”
______________________________________________________________
My ears buzzed inside the lift as I tried to keep my courtroom face on. I couldn’t wait to get home and sit in silence to cleanse my head from an entire day listening to office gossip.
“I’ve got this lovely dress,” Mallory was saying, “It’s this really beautiful champagne colour--”
“Isn’t that the one you wore to Jamie’s wedding?” Sarah asked.
“You can’t wear a dress you already wore before,” said Chelsea with a sneer.
Mallory furrowed her brows, looking anxious.
“I remember the dress,” I intervened in Mallory’s defense. “It’s very pretty. You shouldn’t keep it hidden in your wardrobe, Mal. Wear it. I’m sure nobody will be rude enough to ask you about it,” I looked pointedly at Sarah.
“No,” Mallory countered and both women stared at her. “It’s another one. I happen to like the colour, is that a crime?” she asked indignantly. Sarah shrugged. Mallory eyed me, “Do you know what you’re wearing, Y/N?”
I’d gone shopping two days earlier with Diana during my lunch break. She’d pouted when I said I couldn’t take her as my plus one but immediately dropped the act in favour of a smile upon hearing the name Count Dracula come out of my mouth.
“The Count? The one that gave you the hickey?” she’d whispered the last part during dinner at her house on Sunday.
“The very same,” I’d replied. Little did she know the extent of that hickey.
“Dating royalty, Y/N--”
“Drop it, Di. Will you do me the honours of going dress hunting with me? It must be purple.”
“Purple?”
“Evelyn’s favourite colour.”
“Oh, you’re evil!” She’d laughed. “We’ll find the perfect dress. You’ll look so gorgeous that he’ll faint when he sees you.”
Diana’s excitement over my love affairs had made me wonder if I was so much of a lost cause that any person remotely interested in me should be celebrated with buying an evening dress. On Wednesday, we’d browsed half the stores in Strand before Diana convinced me to hop on the tube towards Belgravia with the promise of gorgeous boutiques in which I would definitely find a dress to my liking. Diana got to flex her marketing muscles to persuade me into getting the one I liked the most, despite the steep price. She’d taken the dress home with her so I wouldn’t have to return to the office with it.
“L/N?” Mallory touched my shoulder.
“Oh, sorry. I zoned out thinking about all the dresses in my wardrobe,” I blinked at her. “I’m not sure what to wear yet.”
“You should make up your mind quickly, then,” Sarah said in her usual brisk manner. “We’re one week away from Evie’s wedding.”
Evie, right, like they were friends. Of all the women, Mallory was the only one who could call herself Evelyn’s friend and, sadly, between her, Sarah and Chelsea, she was the one I most got along with. Mal and I had started our internships at around the same time and we’d suffered through college together, too. We barely talked now that she’d gotten close to Evelyn. I’d stopped being Y/N to her and became simply L/N.
The lift finally opened and we spilled out. Freedom! I thought, tightening my pace towards the lobby and putting as much distance between me and my colleagues. Through the exit doors, I could see the last rays of sunshine reflecting on the glass plated buildings that seemed to be a requirement at Canary Wharf.
“We’re renting an Airbnb together in Berkeley,” Mallory said, catching up with me. “Me and the girls. It’ll be cheaper that way.”
“Okay…”
“There’s a spare bedroom,” she continued, swiping her baby blonde hair that had fallen on her face in her effort to keep up with me.
“Oh,” I blinked, stopping abruptly in front of the exit. Mallory nearly tripped over me. “You’re inviting me to stay with you guys?”
“Yeah,” she paused. “I know you aren’t fond of them but you can ignore what they say. It’s what I do half the time I’m with them.”
“Then, why do you spend so much time with them?”
“Trying to climb the ladder, professionally speaking,” she shrugged. “All of you guys were trained by one of the firm’s partners except me. All my efforts go unnoticed because of it.”
“Mal, you could’ve just kept talking to me if that’s what you wanted,” I frowned. “Renfield would--”
“Not a chance. Renfield doesn’t like anybody at the office except you.”
I acquiesced with a shrug. I loved the man but he wasn’t the nicest person to people.
“I’ll think about the Airbnb,” I told Mallory.
Me in a house full of girls when I had a vampire on my heels? Big no. But after years of distance from one of my best friends, I wasn’t going to simply dismiss her because I didn’t like the people she socialised with.
“You still like going to Camden for drinks? Peace offering?”
“Peace offering,” I grinned.
Mallory laced her arm with mine and led the way out. I frowned up at the sky, searching the rays of sun I’d seen moments ago but all I found was cloud upon cloud upon cloud. Hearing the rushing pair of high heels towards us made me cringe and stop on the sidewalk.
“Girls!” Shouted Chelsea. “Did we hear something about drinks?”
“I’ll get rid of them,” Mallory whispered to me in an exasperated tone before putting on a blinding smile and turning to face Chelsea and Sarah.
As Mallory tried to talk them out of it, a sleek black BMW slid to a stop in front of me. I had little more than two seconds to take in the tinted windows, dark enough to make me wonder if they were inside the legal limits, before the passenger's window started going down. The voices behind me quieted as the driver leaned across the seat. He had sunglasses on but I’d recognise that face anywhere. I bent forward, leaning on the car’s door.
“You had to get the flashiest car available, didn’t you?”
“Oh, dear, no,” Dracula drawled. “The flashiest one was yellow. Black suits me better.”
“Um, Y/N… Who’s that?” Chelsea’s flirty tone made me roll my eyes.
“An impertinent client,” I said without turning to look at her.
“Is that what I am?”
“Amongst other things that shouldn’t be spoken out loud,” I muttered.
“Your client?” asked Sarah. “L/N, are you breaking the code of ethics?”
“Renfield’s client,” I corrected, glancing briefly at Sarah.
When I looked back at Dracula, he was grinning.
“Hello, ladies,” he waved at them, eliciting giggles. If I hadn’t known them for years, I wouldn’t have guessed they were adult women considering their behaviour. “Is that jealousy I see?” he said in a low voice.
“You wish,” I retorted. In a whisper, I said, “It’s still daylight. Aren’t you going to burst into flames?”
“I might if you don’t get in the car.”
“Tempting. I’ll just stay here.”
“Stay, then. The sun will set in precisely seven minutes and when it does, I’ll get out of this car.”
“And do what?”
“Right now, throwing you over my shoulder seems appropriate.”
My knees quivered at that thought. I had to learn to stop baiting him into conversations like these. At some point, he would carry out his threats and I would probably enjoy it, which wasn’t ideal if I wanted to come out of this breathing.
“Um, Y/N?” Mallory’s voice was a gift sent from heaven to make me look away from the Count. “Do you want to postpone our drinks or--”
“Oh, drinks? Where are we going?”
“There’s no we--” I glared at him.
He smiled innocently, surprising me that he was actually able to.
“Camden, I hear,” Sarah chimed in.
“Lovely Camden! Why don’t I give you ladies a ride?”
“I’m okay with that,” Sarah said, followed by Chelsea’s nod.
I already had a flimsy hold over my own libido, I wouldn’t attempt trying to control Chelsea’s and Sarah’s too. As much as I didn’t like them, I wouldn’t wish Count Dracula on them. With that in mind, I flung open the BMW’s door and threw myself in.
“Maybe some other time, girls. He’s mine,” I announced, already regretting my choice of words. Turning to Mallory, I said in an apologetic tone, “Lunch tomorrow so we can catch up?”
She grinned at me, glancing briefly at Count Dracula, who was most definitely staring at the back of my head.
“Sure,” she affirmed with a wink. “Bye.”
I was still waving at her when Dracula accelerated, leaving his parking spot. I stared out the window without registering where we were headed, waiting. Tension grew until I began feeling smothered.
“What’s that about me being yours?”
I shut my eyes and threw my head back against my seat.
“Just… shut up.”
.
.
I know it's a bit mean that I ended the chapter there but I didn't have any time left to write. I'll try posting chapter 9 earlier next week (wednesday or thursday, maybe) to make it up to everyone.

Tumblr media
I sighed as I sat in bed staring out my window, the moon bright in the sky for the early hours of the morning. It was another restless evening for me as thousands of thoughts ran through my head, all revolving around one despicable woman. She’s not going to find you, Y/n. You haven't been spotted yet. She’s far off your trail and soon you'll be home free with Bruce.
Looking over at my makeshift nightstand I groaned at the time. 3:00 AM. No point in trying to sleep now.
Getting up I pulled on my black overcoat, tall burgundy socks and light tan boots before lacing them up. Grabbing my gun I placed it into its holder around my waist and hid a switchblade in my boot, both I got as a precaution if I ever ran into the twisted female. Taking one last look at my room I headed out into the streets of Gotham, my head lowered and my fingerless gloved hands swinging at my sides. The current place I was staying was near the Dark Zone, the area that Jeremiah and Ecco reigned over. As much as I didn't want to go through it I had to as it was the only way to get to the Green Zone to see Alfred. Walking along the dirty streets I watched as Ecco's minions wandered about, signaling I was in their territory.
I was honestly terrified that one of them would recognize me as I knew she gave every detail about my appearance in hopes of finding me. I frowned. What did I do wrong to gain the attention of one of the most feared women in all of the city?
{Flashback}
It was a lovely afternoon in Gotham, a rare thing indeed. I was at Wayne Enterprises delivering some baked goods to surprise Bruce. I knew he was stressed out lately so I made him his favorites of mine: brownies and angel food cake. I strolled up to the front desk and smiled at the secretary. "Well good afternoon, Miss L/n. What can I do for you?"
"I'm here to see Mr. Wayne. I have some things to drop off."
She typed into her computer and then smiled back up at me. "I'll let him know you're here. You can have a seat while I contact him."
I nodded and went over to the sitting area, joining a young dirty blonde woman. We looked at each other for a brief moment so to be friendly I gave her a smile. She grinned back at me and gave a little wave. Not wanting to be rude I looked down at my hands that wrapped around the tin container, one that came from my small bakery.
As I sat waiting I heard the click of a camera but thought nothing of it. It was probably just somebody impressed with the design of the building. "Miss L/n, Mr. Wayne will see you now."
I stood up and made my way to the elevator, pressing the button to Bruce's office level. Just as the doors closed I noticed the dirty blonde woman holding her phone up towards me. Before I could question what was happening the elevator door slammed shut and took me to my destination.
{End Flashback}
I should have known something was wrong in that moment but I was so naive then. If only I knew that the woman would turn into one of my admirers I would have never looked at her. Ever since that moment my life was turned upside down. It all started with small visits from the woman I came to know as Ecco every Tuesday to my bakery. She would always make small talk with me and bring in a flower or two to brighten my day but I always got an uneasy vibe from her. It didn't help that she would always glare whenever I helped a male customer, her brown eyes seemingly burning into my soul. It wasn't until a handsy patron came in that I began to fear for my safety.
{Flashback}
It was a slow day at the shop, one or two people sitting and enjoying their drinks and pastries. I looked at the clock and frowned. 1:00 PM. Ecco should be here in 5....4...3...2...1.
Right on cue the door opened and in strolled the dirty blonde woman with a grin on her red painted lips. "Good afternoon, Y/n!"
"Hello, Ecco. What can I get for you?"
She looked down at the glass case, examining each and every good until she decided on a piece of raspberry cheesecake. Taking it out of the case I sliced her a fairly decent sized piece and put it on a plate before handing it to her. "That'll be $2.50."
Reaching into her tan leather jacket she pulled out the necessary amount and I plumped it into the cash register. "Enjoy!"
With that Ecco sat herself at her usual table and I felt her eyes on me as I cleaned the counter and went in the back to grab more product. About 15 minutes after Ecco arrived a man in casual clothes entered, his hands in his pockets and a cocky attitude surrounding him. "Hello, sir. Welcome to Y/n's Bakery. What can I get for you today?"
I felt a bit uncomfortable as his eyes scanned down my body and a smirk appeared on his lips. "How much are you, sweetheart?"
"I'm sorry, sir. I meant what can I get you from the case?"
"I'd like a piece of you, sweet cheeks."
"I'm not for sa-"
"Oh come on! Everything has a price. I'm willing to pay top dollar~"
"I'm not interested."
"We won't have to do anything out here in public. We can go in the back~"
At this he grabbed my wrist and pulled me close, his breath smelling of tobacco. "Let go of me!"
"You're a little feisty one aren't ya? I like that!"
Just as I was about to retort a punch sent the man sprawling to the floor. I gasped and looked over to see Ecco glaring down at him, her teeth clenched and her eyes full of fury. "Don't ever touch her like that again, you hear me! I never want to see you in here or near my Y/n again!"
"O-Oh yeah? W-what are you going to d-do about it?"
I clenched a hand over my mouth as Ecco began to kick the man repeatedly, him releasing grunts of pain as her heel dug into his side. "Ecco, stop!"
I ran around the counter and was quick to grab her wrist, her attention being brought to me. Her brown eyes widened and then softened as soon as they focused on me, the movement making me nervous. The man on the ground realized his chance to escape so he got up and ran. As the door slammed shut Ecco pulled me into a hug and held me rather tightly, her chin placed on my shoulder. "Don't worry, darling. I can assure you he won't be coming for you again."
My eyes widened at how possessive she sounded and at the fact that I thought I heard her sniff my hair. "T-thanks, Ecco."
"Don't mention it!"
"I think I'm going to close up e-early."
"Oh! Well I can stay behind and walk you home if you'd like."
"N-no I'm f-fine."
I got a bit freaked out as I saw her shoulders sag but she just nodded and headed for the door. "See you later then, Y/n. Take care."
I gulped as she left, a negative vibe staying behind.
{End Flashback}
I trembled as I recalled the memory, it not being one of the worst. From that moment on I always felt her piercing gaze on me and would every so often spot her following me. Soon my friends began to notice that I was very paranoid, always looking over my shoulder, and they grew concerned over me. It got so bad that Bruce offered for me to stay but I always denied in fear of disturbing him and Alfred.
Crunch!
My heart leaped out of my chest as I looked out of the corner of my eye to see one of Ecco’s minions looking at me. Please don't notice me! Please don't notice me!
I continued to walk out of the Dark Zone even as I heard the man mumble something. As soon as I got out of his eyesight I sprinted to the Green Zone, my desire to see Alfred becoming greater and greater with each stride. When I finally got to my destination I took a deep breath and zoomed up the cement steps, knocking on the wooden door in a special pattern. Stepping back I watched as the door swung open and I quickly stepped inside, it slamming shut behind me. "Miss Y/n, I was so worried you wouldn't bloody make it!"
"Neither did I, Alfred. Neither did I. Ecco has really amped up the followers on the streets."
Alfred led me into the living room, I taking a seat next to the fireplace that was roaring. "Would you like some tea, lassie?"
"Got anything stronger?"
"Of course."
I sighed and leaned my back, closing my eyes as bottles clinking and liquid pouring hit my ears. "Here you are."
I opened my eyes and took the glass of whiskey from him, downing it in one gulp. "You must be exhausted, Miss Y/n."
"Very. But you must be too, Alfred, working all day."
"I'm used to it."
"How's Bruce handling all of this?"
"He was a bit upset when he found you gone but he knew you were doing it to protect him. Otherwise he's been volunteering at Jim's safeplace with Selina to keep himself busy. He's also terrified that he'll find out you're captured some time."
Me too, Alfred.
"I'm sorry, Alfred. For all of this. I-"
The faithful butler put his hand on top of mine and stared me stare in the eye. "None of this is your fault, mate. Don't blame yourself."
I gulped down my guilt and nodded. "Bruce, Selina and Jim thought you should stop by his safeplace. It's far from the Dark Zone, there's all the essentials and the police are there. You'd be safe, Y/n."
"If I go that's just more innocent lives that I hold in my hands. I am not willing to put hundreds of lives at risk for my sake."
"At least think about."
"I will. But I better be going. Ecco is usually in Jeremiah's church around this time."
I stood and Alfred gave me a big hug, his hand slipping into my pocket. "Stay safe, lassie. None of us want to see you hurt."
"Thanks, Alfred. For all that you've done."
"No problem at all."
I gave him a small smile and quickly headed out, my hand going into my pocket to find a map. Most likely to Haven.
Looking around to see if anyone was following, I was quick to get out of the Green Zone and back home.
Now in the Dark Zone I resumed a walk as to not look suspicious when suddenly my wrist was grabbed in a death-like grip. "Hey! Let go!"
The man didn't listen to me as he dragged me to the infamous Church of Jeremiah, all the while I was yelling at him to let go. Chucking me inside an empty pool, I groaned as I landed on my back. Sitting up slowly I noticed a table with a red cloth draped over it and blood spatters everywhere I looked. What is this place?
Before I could think too far the sound of shoes scuffing against cement made me turn my head to see a figure in a black, red and white striped robe with a gray and black tinted mask on their face, the hood up. I scrambled to my feet as they came closer, my heart pounding a mile a minute. "Welcome to the the Church of Jeremiah, child. What might be your name?"
"B-Benjamin."
I gulped as the female came closer, her black gloved hand caressing my cheek. "You remind me of someone I know."
"I-I get that a lot."
"She's quite the good looking gal if I say so myself. In fact…”
My eyes widened as she tore off her mask to reveal Ecco, white makeup smeared on her face as well as red lipstick and two black eyebrows drawn on above and below her eyes. She gave me a huge grin before tearing my jacket off, her hands quick to grab my arms. “Ah yes. You’re most definitely my Y/n! There’s the little scar on your right forearm and the birthmark in the shape of a heart.”
She then grabbed my chin and turned my head every which way. “Oh those are the beautiful e/c eyes I remember! And the pierced ears that always wore simple silver earrings every day.”
I struggled to get out of her grip but Ecco simply gripped my shoulders and let her grin spread ear to ear. “Y/n, my darling! I have been looking everywhere for you! Oh, I’m so glad I’ve found you!”
I screamed as she gave me a big kiss and attempted to push her off but Ecco was having none of it. “Oh puddin, I’ve been so worried about you! I thought that maybe Brucie or his butler got a hold of you and hauled you away, that I would never see you again! I’m so glad one of my pets spotted you!”
“LET GO OF ME!”
“Never! Now that I know you’re alive I’m never letting you go.”
She went in for another kiss and I couldn’t help but let out a muffled shriek. Pulling away Ecco seemed to be in utter bliss as her cheeks turned pink under her makeup, her eyes seemingly having stars. “I’ve been searching far and wide for you, dearest. Every day I showed up at your bakery only to find you weren’t there. I thought that man had come back for you or worse that billionaire brat was making love to you. But none of that matters now. I finally have you back!”
She ran her hands through my hair but stopped when she found it not as long as it originally was. “Oh Y/n, I’ll admit disguising yourself as a man was very clever but going to such great lengths as cutting your hair makes me sad. I already miss your lovely locks. But I know they’ll grow back! I’ve got all the time in the world~”
I felt tears leak out of their prison as my fate came crashing down on me. I wasn’t going to be with Bruce or even see any of my friends anymore. I was going to be a caged bird, only there to entertain my feminine master. “Don’t cry, hon. Even looking like this I still love you just as much!”
She leaned in and gave my forehead a light peck, the tears falling harder. “I know! Let’s get you changed into something more comfortable and we can talk and cuddle in our room! That’ll cheer you up!”
I didn’t even struggle as she pulled me away as I knew it was pointless to resist her. My sobs echoed around us as we came upon a dark hallway, Ecco opening a door to the left. She gently pushed me inside before shutting the door and going over to a dresser, I taking the chance to look around. The room was fairly big and contained a queen sized bed, a dresser, vanity and a bathroom off to the side. A three pane window held a seat beneath it and allowed me to see the world outside. “Here we are!”
I was snapped out of my daze as Ecco came to me with a slightly revealing pale red nightgown. “This should work for tonight. Now let’s get you out of those clothes. They’re almost drowning you.”
Before I could stop her she ripped off my shirt to reveal the chest binder that held my ladies flat, her eyes widening. “Oh, puddin! You must be suffocating! Here let me get that for you.”
“DON”T!”
Rip!
I shrieked as I held my arms protectively over my chest, frightened because I’d never been topless in front of anyone before. “There you go, babe. Must be a lot easier to breathe now!”
With that she pulled at my bottoms but I screamed at her to stop. She paused in her movements and looked at me. “I-I can get dressed m-myself!”
“I know but I haven’t seen you in so long. I want every chance to hold you close, to feel your skin.”
I bit my lip as she pulled the pj’s over my head before taking off my shoes, socks and baggy pants. Laying me down in bed she pulled the covers up around me and smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “Now you just wait here, puddin pop. I have to finish up some things for the boss and I’ll be up as soon as I can. Then we can cuddle and fall asleep in each other’s arms~”
She leaned down and gave a smooch to my tear stained cheek before whispering, “Good night, my love.”
I watched as she shut the door and locked it behind her, trapping me in her crazy world. Crying I turned onto my side and curled into a ball, my mind racing and my body trembling.
                                      Please help me….anybody….

Part1/Part2
Tumblr media
“I-i’m getting downgraded?” Both yours and Jungkooks mouth drop in shock as Bang Si-Hyuk, your former boss announces.
“Jungkook, i need you to understand where i’m coming from. You’ve been amazing at your job. You have the whole package and you’ve been with Y/N, accomplishing every mission. However, Y/N’s been here longer than you-”
Before Bang Si-Hyuk could continue, Jungkook rudely interrupts “Yeah! By a year!”
He glares at the younger boy, signalling him to be quiet “Theres a new mission. Except this mission is major. It provides accuracy, focus and logic. I just think Jungkook” He sighs before continuing “I don’t think you’ll be ready for this mission”
You bite your lip as you watch Jungkooks face turn in disbelief. Man, he was getting it from Bang Si-Hyuk. Jungkook scoffs “I- don’t get it. Boss, i’m the high class male agent out of everyone who works here. What do you mean that i’m not ready?”
“You need more training for this Jungkook. I don’t want you to die as soon as you step foot out there. The missions i give you, yeah they’re mediocre and for you and Y/N its easy to handle. You get the job done in absolute minutes! But for this one? No, i want to save you Jungkook. Its best if i drop you out of this one”
“Boss, i think you’re making a mistake. Since when did you stop believing that a guy like me won’t be able to do such an effortless task?” Jungkook argues back. He wasn’t going to let it slide.
“Effortless Jungkook? Other Agents from different Services have failed. Dong Woo from Starship. You think he died from training? No. Starship had to make up a lie. He died whilst completing the task. It was that embarrassing that they had to make up a stupid lie and say he was dead from overworking his training.”
You gasp lightly and you feel your body tense. Such words had made you feel pity. Jungkook stayed quiet, his head drooped down as he fidgets with his feet.
“This mission is urgent and its strenuous. It requires great effort and logic to complete this. This commission is not only saving the nation, but the whole entire world” Bang Si-Hyuk commands, folding his arms. Suddenly, the gold phone on the desk starts to ring.
“Sir, he’s here”
“Send him to my office Celia” He says to the phone and places it back. You furrow your eyebrows as to who Bang Si-Hyuk was referring to the mystery person he was telling to come in.
“B-boss, please” You watch Jungkook walk desperately to Bang Si-Hyuk, his eyes pleading for hope “I can do this mission. I know i can. I’m all you’re going to get boss. I have enough to fulfil what you asked for. And Y/N won’t be able to do this mission by herself”
You shake your head in agreement. To be honest, when Bang Si-Hyuk mentioned that this mission is targeted to save the entire world, you were a little skeptical and shaken. What you heard about what had happened to Dong Woo had made you uneasy. You’ve done multiple mission for the Country and other South East Asian Countries with Jungkook. But for the World? You cringed.
“She won’t be doing the mission by herself” He simply states, standing back up and leaning against his desk.
You look at Bang Si-Hyuk, surprised and a wave of relief washed over you. Jungkook looks at you in suspicion and you shrug your shoulders to him, clueless. “So, you’re saying i’m being r-replaced?”
“Thats right, Jungkook” He nods his head and Jungkook felt like he wanted to breakdown. All his hard work and effort for the past 2 years had gone down the drain. Whats worse was that another person was going to take over his place alongside with you. He couldn’t bare to see you do missions with another person. Not if it was him. Since when did he go wrong?
“Boss, then who is going to do the task with me?” You raise your hand slowly at him, asking politely. Jungkook looks at him, eagerly waiting for an answerto find out as to who this mystery person was.
Just in time, you hear a knock on the transparent glass door. You and Jungkooks head both snapped to the door, a black figure appearing behind it.
“Come in”
Your body froze in incredulity as your mind clicks at the familiar man. More like rival. Your eyes widen and you silently gasp at the sun kissed skin and silver haired man dressed in all black. “Kim Taehyung” You sneered under your breath. He closes the door behind him, smirking at Jungkook and taking a glance at you before he bows to Bang Si-Hyuk “Hello, boss”
“Ah, Taehyung, right on time my boy” He smiles. You bit the inside of your cheek as you slowly bow to respect him. You hated him. You hated every single thing about his lying, stuck up ass.
“No, you’re kidding me” Jungkook shakes his head repeatedly, undefeated as he refuses to believe that Taehyung was replacing him. You walk over to Jungkook and lightly rub his back as you stare at Taehyung, whilst Jungkook gave him a nasty glare.
“Y/N, meet your new partner. Kim Taehyung” Bang Si-Hyuk gladly points to the man, who smirked in triumph. Oh how he loved looking at Jungkooks despicable face.
“T-this thing” You refer to, making Taehyung raise his eyebrows at you “Is going to be working with me?”
“You have a problem with me Y/N?” Taehyung plasters on a confused expression “I’m a little hurt by what you referred me to as a...thing.”
You scoffed at his fake facade and crossed your arms “Yes I do. I’m not going to work with some deluded, stubborn, self-centred boy.”
Before Taehyung could argue back, Bang Si-Hyuk interrupts before you go insane “Okay, lets calm ourselves. Taehyung here has decided to transfer from YG”
“Probably because they got tired of his snobby, conceited persona” You hear Jungkook mumble under his breath.
“But what about his training? Our training is much more advanced then YG’s. It’ll take him several months to become like one of us” You persuaded, trying to make an accurate point. You weren’t going to let some fool work with you.
You’ve had terrible experiences with Taehyung. Once, you were both assigned on the same task, both of your argued as to who was going to complete it that you lost track of time and you let the criminal get away. Thankfully, you shoved Taehyung away and chased the culprit, shooting him with your Lipstick Gun that happened to be the closest thing to take out and shoot.
Taehyung didn’t lie, he knew you were one of the best Secret Agents he had ever seen. And for a female as well, he was surprised at how quick you were. At one point he thought that you were better than him, but two could play the game.
As soon as he got a call from Bang Si-Hyuk about the mission and having to partner with the you, he accepted straight away, filing a retirement letter to YG. He found you fascinating. The work you had succeeded in. He wanted more of you because he knew you had some concealed secrets in the way your eyes looked at him, making him fluster. You were beautiful too. Your long hair that would flow in the wind as he watched you run and tackling the criminal to the ground, putting him in head choke and shooting him was spellbinding. Your innocent but daring features were a match for his evil, valiant self. He wanted you for himself.
“Oh we’re talking about Kim Taehyung here!” Taehyung smiles widely at Bang Si-Hyuks compliment “He doesn’t need months of training. It’ll only take him a couple of weeks for him to get used to the weapons and tactics that we use which are different to what YG  use. And thats why you’ll be teaching him Y/N.”
Taehyung kept the smirk on his face, having to work with Y/N made his heart warm up. Finally, he would have more time to spend with her. No matter how much Y/N hated him, he was going to prove he was worth everything.
On the other hand, Jungkooks heart sank. Deep down his self esteem and confidence had vanished in seconds. Devastated and broken, he frowned in defeat. He no longer had Y/N by his side. Jungkook was ready to punch the man in the face but he held back his pent up anger and stayed still.
If things could not get any worse, Jungkook wasn’t your partner anymore and second of all, you were having to train Taehyung. Meaning you’ll have to see him everyday, hear his whiny voice everyday, look at him everyday. You felt sick.
“Y/N, why don’t you show Taehyung around our building whilst I talk here with Jungkook privately. Yes?” Bang Si-Hyuk smiles at you and Taehyung and you pause for a second before plastering a fake smile “Y-yes, boss”
You follow Taehyung behind as you leave. You quickly give Jungkook a reassuring smile but he just frowns back like he was about to cry. Your heart ached for him. You both went through so much and for someone like Taehyung to come and take his place was astonishing.
Before Taehyung could say anything, you quickly open your mouth not regretting a single word “Listen here you bastard. I don’t like the fact that I have to work with you as my partner. I have respect for Bang Si-Hyuk and as crazy as it sounds, guess what? I hate you.”
Taehyung ridiculed at your insult “You think i don’t feel the same way too?  You’re not special Y/N. You’re not in charge here. Stop acting like a Queen and act more professional”
“Professional? How rich of you to say that” You gasp, ready to slap the shit out of him.
“Oh Y/N. My lovely Y/N. You’ll never get enough of me. I’m all you have, but better this time. And I hate you too” Taehyung shows his boxy smile which you roll your eyes at, ignoring the butterflies in your stomach.
“If you hated me you wouldn’t have accepted the mission to work with me.” An idea popped into your head and you leaned closer to him.
“I know you wanna get in my pants Taehyung. You wanna know how it feels to have your soft hands touch my body and how you grip my hair as you pound into me so hard that i would be stunned. Hm, Tae? Is that why you wanted to work with me?” Your words had gotten more seductive and the tone in your voice hinted flirtation as your hands gradually rubbed up and down his sleeve.
Taehyung gulped nervously at your arousal. He thought you looked so sexy, biting your lip and your hands touching his arm, feeling heat rush down to his crotch. He couldn’t move as you stared into his eyes seductively. He’d never been sweet talked before by a woman. It was always him who would make the move first. He wasn’t going to let you get to him, a snigger escaping his lips as he looks either side before grasping your arm and shoving you against the wall, your feet barely even touching the ground. His hand was now wrapped around your neck. You could’t breath a little but you gave him a glare as he caressed your soft cheek.
“Oh baby, i wanted to work with you to not only fuck you, but to be better than you my love” Taehyung raunchily says. You took things even far by letting a light whimper which made him fluster.
“Mhm? Did you like the way i ran chasing the criminal on that mission huh? Having him in a chokehold and straddling his body on the ground. Did it excite you and your dick? I bet it did. You loved every second of it. So mesmerised” You talk back, your tone so sickly sweet.
Taehyung clicked his tongue at how you were so ravishing being held up against the wall and the words hitting him hard. He felt his crotch harden at the thought of him being dominant. Maybe even switching roles eased him. You loved riling him up.
“No words Taehyung? Do you want to kiss me? Is that it?” You lick your lips before he crashes his lips against yours so passionately. You hesitate to kiss back but your hands found its way to his hair, gripping it lightly. His hands were no longer around your neck but they were gripping your thighs, pulling you up against the wall so you were sitting on his arms. He pulled away and left a trail of kisses down your neck. You moaned gently in accomplishment and he looked at you deeply.
You were going to have fun toying his mind for a while.

Hi I just wanted to bring this to you attention which I find is something a LOT of fanfic writer tend to do. (I understand that it's to keep the fic detailed) For a little bit of context; I am not short, I am not petite, I have large feet, I have broad shoulders and short hair. I have big hands, I have muscular arms and play 3 types of sport per week as well as working out on top of that. Basically, I'm not the kind of person most people write their fics about. 1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello! Thank you for sending me in your thoughts and concerns about the work that I write and upload. I will now discuss your concerns in several different parts to address all the points you made aforementioned. Please ‘Read More’ to see my full answer, as I have made quite a lot of points.
It’s true that a lot of fan fiction writers cater to only one type of person - for example, this person is usually cis-female, white, small, cute etc~ the attributes that society deems somehow more acceptable than others which, of course, is completely despicable. Like you mentioned, human beings come in all sizes, all shapes and all personality types and that is definitely something to consider in our approach to things.
However, I seem to be a little confused - so if it’s okay, I’d like to clarify something with you? My fan fiction blog is based around requests. What that means is, essentially someone requests something off me - gives me detail about exactly what they want and I try my best to make their idea into fan fiction. So for example, someone might send me in the following;
‘Hi Sara! Can I request a BTS Jimin fluff? The reader is shy and quiet and much shorter than him and a little chubby. Can it please be a cute date at the movies?’
So - if we are keeping in line with my original premise; I will write this scenario based on what this person wished. Another example might be;
‘Hi Sara! I’d like a GOT7 Jackson smut with the reader being a more athletic build - not with a cute personality but a really down to earth, strong personality? Thank you!’
Again, same as premise one, I would write this scenario as it is catered to the person who requested it. Does that make sense?
Now; the latter will change IF the requester does not give me specific instructions. Let’s take a look at an example request again;
‘Hi Sara! I’d like a GOT7 Youngjae fluff where they go to the park with Coco. Thanks!’
Requests such as this can be both a blessing and a curse to fan fiction writers! In my requesting guidelines, I have written that I essentially implore the requester to provide me with as much or as little detail as they like. But, when that person doesn’t give me much detail about how they want the reader to be, I tend to just go with whatever comes into my head at that particular moment in time, and admittedly when that happens, I see myself as the reader and I am absolutely guilty of doing that which I am always trying to not do - and I will try to improve that in the future.
Now - in saying that, I pride myself on being a fairly mindful person. To the best of my knowledge, I have always taken, for example, skin colour into account and therefore, I always try my best to leave any and all descriptions of race so that everyone of every skin colour whoever they may be can enjoy what I write, if they so wish to read it.
And absolutely! Not everyone has long hair, small hands and all of your aforementioned points. But the fact of the matter is, I have never received a request from someone specifically asking me to include - as you put it, someone of your description. I write for people who request things off me based on what they request at that time.
I understand your frustrations, as I too do not fit into some descriptions that writers talk about. For one - the cute attitude. And I will debunk this for myself by saying that not all of my scenarios include that. I have had many requests asking me to make the girl badass, or to make her take no shit from anyone; which I have done so! ^^
And I don’t think you’re rude at all, I can completely see where you are coming from! And I’m sure that a lot of readers who are male or who identify with being a male (or who don’t identify with male or female as a further point to make) are annoyed at the lack of boy x boy or they/their pronouns on my blog (which I hope to do more of in the future, but as of right now, I am so swamped with university, my mental well-being, and other things that are causing me a lot of stress that I simply cannot jump to everyone’s attention all at once!)
I would be more than ecstatic to include your description in my scenarios, my love - if only someone would request it at a time when requests are open! I write for the people who request things, I always have from the very beginning. Will this change in the future? Will I allow myself more creative freedom to write whatever story or character description I want? I hope it will; I hope that I can do that in the future, for sure.
And hey, personally I think your broad shoulders and martial arts skills are fucking awesome, and I’m a thousand percent sure that you’re cute - even though it may not be stereotypically as you referred to it as.
You mentioned something that I would like to make a final point on, too. Stories do include description - and I pride myself on offering as much description as possible when it’s needed. But I as a person can only do so much. I am not an amazing, outstanding, revolutionary writer; I am mediocre at a stretch. I don’t know of a way to make absolutely everyone happy. But - with my premise of a person requesting me to write things for them, I thought ‘Hey, at least I can make that person smile based on what they want.’ So please - I encourage people like you and anyone else who feels that they are undermined within fan fiction to request scenario’s based on who you are as a person! With that being said, my requests are unfortunately on a hold right now (for the reasons I previously listed) and I don’t know when they will be opening as I am a very unhappy and overworked Sara at the moment.
Despite all of that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me know your thoughts which I can completely see from your point of view. But I do hope that you can also understand that I write based off of requests. So, I would really love it if next time, someone requested a scenario with more detail about the actual reader so that I can customise it to make them (and other people like them) happy, and smiling ^^

No Matter What (Barry x Reader)
Character: Barry Allen
Fandom: The Flash
Categories: Reader Insert, Female!Reader
Title: No Matter What
  Requested by anon:
hey there! i was wondering if you could write a Flash request for me? The reader is part of Team Flash and an evil meta human kidnaps her and tries to force her to tell who The Flash is (maybe he hurts her, but you don't have to put that in detail bc Ik you're uncomfortable with that stuff) she ends up telling Barry's secret and when Barry finds her and saves her she is broken down for telling his secret, once she gets better Barry reassures her that it's okay and its all fluffy :3 thanks!!
Warning: Kidnapping and mentions of violence! Nothing hardcore or explicit, just letting you know in case it might make you uncomfortable.
I accidentally bumped into Barry and lost balance, but he quickly kept me from falling.
“Sorry, Bar” I nervously chuckled, embarrassed by my clumsiness.
“No problem” My friend dedicated me a friendly and sweet smile that made me grin as well.
He kindly patted me in the shoulder as he carried on walking to do whatever he was doing. After all, he was a very busy person, being the Flash and all that.
I just sat in my desk and proceeded to prepare my working area. I had arrived early and neither Cisco nor Caitlin had arrived yet. Only Barry, but he had super speed so it wasn’t really fair.
I started my computer and displayed all the papers I would need in the table, spreading them all over the surface of my desk. Then I cracked my knuckles, getting ready for another exciting day of work at Star Labs.
“Mornin’!” Cisco’s voice happily came, so I looked over my shoulder to him.
“Hi” I greeted him with a smile as he walked over to his own desk and took his coat off.
“Hello there, Y/N” Openly winking at me, he came to my desk and left a little bag on it. “This is for you”
I opened it, curious as to what he brought me, and chuckled a bit in appreciation. It was filled with candy: lollipops, gumballs, licorice and other sweet goodies.
He was such a sweetheart! We both had sweet tooth, and he probably bought me all that as he passed by the store to get some for himself.
“Thanks, Cisco!” Excited, I quickly picked a lollipop, took the wrapper of and shoved it in my mouth. I was craving it!
“We’re candy buddies after all” He joked as he sat at his desk and made his chair spin like a child.
We did share our snacks all the time, it was like our thing, apart from the usual chatting and being nerds together.
“Sorry I’m late!” Just then, Caitlin rushed in, waving at us.
“I’m writing this down, Cait!” Cisco teased her, smirking at her slip up.
“Don’t worry, he just got here” I tried to reassure her, to which she smiled.
“You look cute today, Y/N” Caitlin complimented me briefly as she rushed to organize herself for the day ahead.
“Look who’s talking” I told her back, taking the lollipop off my mouth so she would understand me.
“What about me?!” Cisco joked, pretending to be offended.
Barry happened to be walking into the room just then, so he followed along.
“Sorry, buddy” He laughed, making our friend pout. “You have nothing on them”
I laughed as I faced my screen once everything was on.
I loved working there so much, because not only my friends were the best. But I was helping no other than the Flash. I worked in an amazing place with amazing people and also aided a superhero to save Central City. What else could one wish for?
*
A disturbing tingling in my neck told me something was wrong as I made my way home from Star Labs. Like I was being watched or followed.
I rested my hand inside my pocket, against the phone just in case I needed to call someone to be safe. And that someone would probably be Barry for obvious reasons.
Not only because of his speedster status, but because he was probably the one I was closest with out of the three of them. And he was so kind and protective that I almost considered him like an older brother, I definitely loved him as such.
I looked over my shoulder, restless, and spotted a suspicious looking man walking behind me. It actually looked like he was following me.
Restless, I picked up my phone and called Barry. I really hoped he would answer, because I was getting really scared.
Whether it was to scare the man away once he saw me on the phone or to get Barry here with me, I didn’t care. Both of them would make me feel safe.
After a few seconds, he replied. Not even his friendly voice made me feel better about my apprehension.
“Yes?”
“Barry” I whispered worriedly.
“Y/N? What is it?” He told me, concerned as well. “Are you okay?”
“There’s a man in the street I looked over my shoulder, hoping he couldn’t hear me. “I think he’s following me”
“Where are you? I’ll be right there!”
“I’m-“ I was about to tell him when I heard fast footsteps behind me.
He was getting closer.
“On my way home from work” The footsteps were barely a few inches behind me as I finished the sentence.
“Hold on, I’m on my way” Barry told me just as I felt two hands settling in my shoulder.
“Barry!” I yelled in panic, just before I dropped my phone and everything turned dark.
*
When I came to I felt confused, dizzy and disoriented. I opened my eyes, which felt painful because of the intense headache that spread all over my skull.
I tried to sit up when I realized my hands were tied behind my back. I was sitting in a cold metal chair that made me feel heavy and left me with a cold fear.
“You’re finally awake” A scary and hoarse male voice said from somewhere in front of me.
Everything felt confusing and surreal, which was probably explained by my headache. I might have a concussion.
“Where am I?” I asked him weakly, feeling my voice feeble and low. “Who are you?”
“How am I to question an unconscious subject?” He smirked, completely ignoring my questions.
“Question?” I cringed in fear at what that could mean and imply.
“Just one simple question” He held up one finger and took a few steps closer to me. “Who is the Flash?”
“Who is-“ I repeated, dumbfounded. “How am I supposed to know?!”
Even with a concussion, it was clear what was happening. I was a part of Team Flash, and that man somehow knew about it. Most likely, he was an evil metahuman who was trying to take down his arch enemy. The Flash.
“Oh, that’s easy...” The man got so close to me that I averted my eyes, tilting my head the other way. “I know you work with him”
“I don’t!” I exclaimed, loyal to my friend. It would be better if I played dumb. “And I have no idea who he is!”
“We can do this the easy or the hard way” That guy looked angry, and I did not like that. “Now tell me, what is it gonna be?”
I still looked the other way, until he held my face with rough hands and made me stare at him. I shut my eyes tight, uncomfortable and frigthened.
“Who is he?!”
“I don’t know!” I shouted, already shaking in fear. “I swear, I don’t know!!”
“The hard way it is then” His voice sounded extremely intimidating as he held a hand up.
I had no idea what powers he had, but I knew something for sure. I wasn’t going to like it.
*
I couldn’t stop crying. Everything felt so terribly wrong that it was the only thing I could do.
After that torture the metahuman put me to, I was sensitive all over. Every muscle sore because of the strain and pain I was subjected to, making my body shake and my muscles tense.
Not to mention the fact that I gave up. I had betrayed Barry by confessing.
I told that man who the Flash was. I spoke Barry Allen’s name. The words just slipped from my lips before I could stop them, screaming in the hopes that the nightmare would stop.
What I didn’t think about was the fact that I was no longer useful to him. I was probably going to die. And feeling so low and miserable, I was starting to believe that I deserved it.
After all, I broke Barry’s trust. I had betrayed him by exposing his secret identity and hence putting him and all of Central City in danger. And I would never forgive myself for that. I didn’t mean to do it, I didn’t want to talk, but I just couldn’t take any more of that terrible pain.
“Y/N!” A whisper came. “There you are, finally!”
“Barry…” I sighed in relief at the sight of him. Even if the guilt stirred my insides in a very unpleasant way.
“I’m here” He whispered soothingly yet worriedly. “It’s okay, I’ll get you out of here”
My friend untied me from the chair and then swiftly picked me up in his arms. Then his sweet green eyes fell over me as he observed me in concern. He probably didn’t like to see me so wounded and weak.
“Are you okay?” He asked me as he pushed me against him to comfort me.
I just nodded and hid my face in his shoulder, shaking like a leaf. However, it felt like I didn’t have the right to look him in the eyes after I discovered his secret identity to one of his enemies. It felt wrong, I felt wrong.
We moved quickly, and I knew that he was taking me out of there with his powers. It made my unease to lessen slightly because that man wouldn’t hurt me anymore. But nothing could ever reassure my tortured mind.
As soon as he carefully put me to my feet, I glanced at him and took a deep breath to gather all the courage I could.
“Barry, I need to tell you something” That was the least I could do, confess my mistake. My horrible and unforgivable mistake. “I told him who you are”
“What?” He observed me carefully.
“He took me to get to you” I explained, sobbing out of shame and fear still. “He… tortured me and I couldn’t… I ended up telling him your secret identity”
“Y/N…” Barry whispered sadly.
“I know, I’m despicable!” By that point, I was already crying. “You should have let him kill me, I deserved it!”
“Hey, no, no, no” Gently, he wiped my tears and spoke softly to me. “You don’t deserve to die, never! I know you had no other choice, I understand that!”
“But, Barry!” I complained, not wanting to let him forgive me because I couldn’t even forgive myself. “I put you in danger for my weakness! And with that, all of Central City!”
“You’re my friend, and I love you” Barry gravely told me, fixing his eyes on me seriously. “No matter what, okay?”
“So you’re not mad?”
“No! I know you didn’t want to do it. I don’t even want to think about what he did to you so you would talk” He shut his eyes tight, cringing at the thought. “The important thing is that you’re here, safe with me”
“But I told him your secret!”
“I know, but we’ll figure it out” He nodded and gently placed his hands on my shoulders, squeezing them fondly. “We will find a way to fix this, together”
“I can’t believe you’re still my friend after this” I sniffled, trying to get a hold of myself.
“I said no matter what, Y/N” He grinned a little to cheer me up. “Well, unless you were to do something terrible or something like that. This is really not so bad…”
I chuckled at his joke and glared at him in a thankful gesture that he understood.
“Let’s get those nasty wounds healed, okay?” Gingerly, he brushed his thumb against a cut in my cheek.
I nodded silently and sighed shakily, slightly wincing at the pain of my wounds.
“Everything’s okay” Gently, he placed his hands on my back and attracted me towards him in a warm embrace that was very much needed.
