Reasons Why I Think TFP Jack is Underrated:

Welcome to my organized bullet list of why I think Jack is cool. I used to think he was boring too, but now I think he's the goat and here's why:

-He has Main Character Energy, but he's more snarky than most cliche main characters

In fact, he is a petty king:

-He doesn't wanna be on Team Prime at first, but eventually accepts it...

...He then proceeds to BURN Airachnid's ship to the GROUND with a stupid survival kit for babies

-HE DEFEATED THE ALIEN SPIDER QUEEN WITH NOTHING BUT A LIGHTER AND A POCKET KNIFE, BRO

-HE WAS DONE WITH HER BULLSHIT LOL

-Plus he tricked Silas by pretending to beg for mercy, when really, he was stealing his walkie talkie.

-Jack is boring, BUT the fact that Jack has nothing special about him IS his superpower; Miko has the Apex Armor and her brave personality, Raf has genius level computer smarts, and Jack has PURE SPITE. It's beautiful.

-He has zero skills, but he'll figure out how to defeat his enemies anyway, SOLEY because he's tired and doesn't get paid enough for this shit.

-For example, in one of the Titan Magazine comics, Jack literally kicks Silus in the balls

-He's also a mess though, and I relate so hard

-He's so petty he talked two aliens into helping him cheat at street racing to piss off his classmate

-His romantic subplot is treated like a complete joke, and I love that. Normally, the Main Character✨ is awkward, but gets the girl in the end. Not Jack, though. Nope. He just constantly looks stupid in front of Sierra, nothing ever happens between them, and Arcee is just watching with popcorn as his life falls apart. It's hilarious.

Also, if I'm correct, isn't the last time we see Sierra when she sees Arcee's homoform, and thinks Jack has a girlfriend, and then Jack is like "She's my mom😅." And Sierra's all like: "Your mom looks good in leather😐...on your bike😐😐😐😐..." Maybe I'm wrong, but if that's the case, it's funny. Jack is a simp and it gets him nowhere.

-His sarcasm works perfectly with Arcee's sarcastic attitude.

-Also Tailgate is voiced by Josh Keaton (Jack's voice actor) in the flashbacks, so I headcanon that Jack reminds Arcee of Tailgate, and that's why she has such a soft spot for him.

Tailgate and Arcee's dialogue had the same vibe as her and Jack's

Also, it gives more context to why she was so scared to lose him when Airachnid showed up. It would've literally been like losing Tailgate all over again.

-Jack is Team Prime's designated Good Ideas Guy

It was Jack's idea to hijack the spacebridge to send him to Cybertron

It was also his idea to drain the dark energon out of The Nemesis when it came alive and froze everyone

-I'm probably just projecting, he has generalized anxiety disorder vibes

-I feel like he prefers a comfortable, predictable life because he gets nervous easily

-He's always the first to freak out, and overthink, and Arcee always has to calm him down

-And she's so patient with him it's so sweet😱

-I agree the writing behind his existence is meh, and a lot of the cool stuff about him is probably unintentional, but I don't care, so take that!

Anyway, the moral of the story is:

Jack is just an angry little harmonica boy. Leave him alone. He's trying his best😭

Litana Redesign

Design notes: Litana with desi inspired clothing because I’m desi and I thought it would be cool

In my version of Litana I drew her with a turquoise saree that has black and white accents. There’s a white flower pattern I thought would be fun to add, and it’s kinda hard to tell w/ how I drew it but the fabric is a little iridescent.

This is the kind of saree that has a pant, I dunno how to describe it but basically saree pants are baggy but like they cuff at the ankles, they’re not baggy all the way down I really don’t know how to describe it I’m sorry 😭😭

The shirt she wears in the manhwa is basically the saree blouse, but she wears leather armor under the saree and along her arms, I kept the black choker necklace thing she has cause I thought it was cool.

I don't like PS5 Mysterio.

Full disclaimer: I know some people I follow like him and will likely see this post. And I am going to say to those people that I am glad you can like a character I don't, please, don't let my nitpicks ruin that. This is my opinion, not a fact.

I want to like PS5!Mysterio, I really do, but I have too many issues with how he was depicted.

I'll start with his design, then I'll ramble about his storyline. I'll also preface and say the most I've seen of him are playthroughs and some fandom wiki excerpts. How professional of a researcher I am, I know. 😭😭 If I am wrong about anything source-wise PLEASE tell me.

Design

This portion is literally the most "this is my personal preference" thing ever btw.

I don't like his outfit, it reads to me like a hipster Mysterio cosplay. The cape erasure saddens me. The skull in the helmet is meh, I'd just prefer a vague shape or plain fog. Mysterio could have looked so cool, like I adore this franchise's Scorpion design. But Mysterio's design is just so muddled to me in this game? You get a lot of dark purples and browns. The gold(?) accents are also just too dark compared to the rest of him. There is a sliver of bright green on his top. Babes, a sliver.

I get it, if you want to modernize the classic comic supervillain's outfit and make it "cooler," it can be hard when the colors are limited.

Limited because you want to stay faithful to the original design.

Then again, Scorpion in the comics looks absolutely obnoxious (to me), but they still kept him green in the game. He was allowed to be colorful and his silly arachnid self while modernizing the suit to look more armor-like.

Mysterio's such a dramatic figure that seeing this design just saddens me. They stripped my boy of his diva.

Glad he took some inspiration from Shattered Dimensions with the clawed gloves, no comment there. <3

Side note: his regular man appearance is eh. I want to know why developers/writers are so scared of giving this man a bowl cut or a clean face. (I like beards, but Beck with a beard is so odd to me and I can't place why.)

Storyline

I will say again, I haven't played the game. Girls, I do not have the funds. I watched playthroughs, a few just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

For those who don't know, the fandom wiki states that in his History tab: "Quentin Beck was a special effects artist until he became [the] supervillain Mysterio. Beck eventually stopped being Mysterio and reformed."

So, this happened (I think) before the events of the game.

I am a sucker for a redemption arc if done well. Yes, I like my villains evil mostly, but I am open to layers in a baddie. My issue is that this is his given history, we do not see any of this arc in the game from what I know.

And that makes me sad.

What we do see is that Mysterio's identity is stolen by Beck's coworkers.

Betsy Schneider and Cole Wittman, hey, a Webspinners reference! (betsy)

Beck (from what we know) had nothing to do with this. This man was literally bound and left in a storage closet ... room ... place.

This allows him to get away with being innocent, and that makes me a little irritated. That is only because of what he tells Miles after his coworkers were exposed.

He says: "Mysterio will always be a villain. Just as Spider-Man will always be a hero. It's when you start looking at the people behind the masks that things get messy."

This would be a good quote if Beck had that messiness that he is literally talking about. Granted, he does in a way, if the wiki is to be believed. But we aren't looking at that mess of a man who is still working to free himself from villainy. He's completely free of fault for what happened. He was innocent, Betsy and Cole were guilty.

He's not trying to clean the Mysterio image and the crowd still fears him. He's not falling slightly into old habits as he tries so so hard to be better than who he was. Because people falter, all the time. I want to see that inner conflict, I love inner conflict. I want to smell, taste, hear, see, and breathe it.

The quote only holds some weight to me because I was told he has been through that mess. My issue is that we are told this, we do not see any of it. (My bestie @bluebutterflytears phrased it like "They told instead of showing 😔")

If we did, it could also be a beautiful opportunity for parallels between symbiote Peter and Beck. (This is my bias for parallels coming in.) Both are people struggling with inner demons that they need to fight against day by day lest they become the worst of themselves.

I want to see Beck snap at Miles for not taking him seriously, then apologizing as regret sets in. I just wanted a conflict that wasn't so ... flat.

(Though this questline was a side thing, so I get if the developers or whatever didn't want to go through all of that. I'm just going to say that you shouldn't throw in what could be a meaningful message if you aren't willing to show that message to us.)

if you were to redesign uol!syzoth, what would you do? i thought it might be cool to make him look sort of knightly since i feel like scales could play into the armor in really cool ways and he could wear a chainmail hood but i also dont know if that would fit into the mk aesthetic well

i may do a redesign of him at some point bc thinking abt how lame his uol skin is makes me mad

but anyways YEAH a knight costume/vibe could be a really cool direction to go in. it could fit into the mk aesthetic fine—mavado has a similar costume in mkda actually:

and also considering mk has characters like johnny cage i dont really think we need to worry about fitting a specific theme here 😭

in general tho, i do think that uol!syzoth’s design should be more… relaxed and happier-looking than his other counterparts. if that makes sense. that seems to be the case for most of the other uol designs, they all look like they’re more content with their lives.

that’s probably my biggest issue with syzoth’s uol costume; it’s just some kinda costume you’d see be worn in the mcu, instead of something syzoth would wear as a good keeper of time. he looks too much like he should be in a sci-fi game to me (which is the same issue i have with sindel’s ood costume), and it just looks uncomfortable as hell to be wearing all the time lmao. none of the reptilian themes like with his other alts are easily noticeable — some of the textures resemble scales but it is hard to tell unless you zoom in — and the art direction with it just falls flat. they could’ve at least thrown in a longer back cloth or belt to resemble his tail, but they didn’t 😔😔

like if you look at them side by side it’s just. lol. lmao, even.

so yeah i think the biggest points that id address in a uol!syzoth redesign are: more relaxed, noticeable lizard theme, and way more exposed skin because i don’t like that i can’t see his tattoos 💔 maybe even take his hood down for a change

i will say: the one thing i like about his uol skin is that it has brighter colors, as opposed to the more dull colors on his default and ood. i’d keep that lol

alright guys, let’s do this one last time. my name is mars walker. i was bitten by a radioactive spider. and for the last 2 years, i’ve been the one and only void-crawler. i’m pretty sure y’all know the rest. i saved a bunch of people. got spider-man to be my mentor. did a couple of team-ups with him and deadpool. i saved the city but i… couldn’t save peter. i stopped fighting for a while. changed my suit and hero name. and now i’m back, stronger than ever, wahoo! because no matter how hard life gets, i always find a way to come back and save the city. cuz who else will if not me?

hi! finally posted this, i made it like a week ago. anyway, i think i would have some extra powers, as a treat.

first of all, enhanced spidey sense. i don’t only perceive near danger but FUTURE danger as well. basically i get visions, premonitions, prophecies, whatever you wanna call them. they are always about danger and there IS a way to change them. i dont know how that would work with time and space continuum and all those complicated things, but who wants logic, boring!! (i’ll solve the plot hole soon, dw 😭🛐) (if any of y’all have any idea how to solve it, pls tell me)

i would be able to break the 4th wall cuz i constantly do irl anyway,, sometimes life follows a specific storytelling pattern and has very notorious plot armor and that makes me think “huh… weird”

i would also have sensitive senses, and that includes night vision! (i already have sensitive hearing irl and it’s a nightmare! good luck void-crawler). i could also “change” my appearance? i would not physically change it, but i would release some kind of chemicals or stuff that would make people see other thing. this is inspired by the ant mimicry spiders do. spiders DO change physically, but i think mine would be just psychologically. idk, i thought that would be cool :P

the design of my spidey suit is inspired by, spidey of course, but also by deadpool’s suit. cuz i’m obsessed with both of them atm, so had to add that to my story 👍 AND IT WILL MAKE SENSE STORY WISE MUAHAHAHA! cant wait to tell y’all the backstory.

Second fav fight is the Godfrey WWE takedown. Like my gaawddd is that fight so good... The absolute panic you felt when he turned into Hoarah Loux for the first time and came at you full force with his bare hands still drenched in Serosh' blood... The double face slam... The comedic timing of it all.... "I've given thee courtesy enough." .... GOOSEBUMPS !!!!! GOOOOOOOSE .. BUMPS ... !!!!

Third fav gotta be Maliketh. Like I said about Malenia, it's the perfect dodge gimmick that you gotta master that I love so much in this fight. His transformation from Gurranq to The Black Blade was fuckin badass and Maliketh's character design is out of this fucking world too, like it's so fucking cool. I also really love the Destined Death skill and how beautiful it is plus his fast moveset keeps me on my toes the entire time and never bores me. I really love how he never stands still and how quick you gotta be to land an attack or dodge his ones. Makes me sad how his health pool is so little I think it needs to be bumped up tbh :(

5) what does their tent area look like? where do they prefer to pitch their tent (next to water, covered on three sides, etc)?

Giilvas’ camp is set close to water ( or as close at it can be .. ) and it is .. a controlled mess . Furs lining where he sleeps , shield set up against the tent , table set up with music sheets , ink and quill , tuning tools … Dreamcatcher set up , probably a skin drying rack too … a lot of little trinkets everywhere … if you look hard enough you can find dried flowers he’ s collected and his etchings too …

Zerxes is enclosed , tucked out of the way .. his is very clean but still dirty ? The tent itself has stains of dirt from over the years , the books are old and worn , the stool to sit at is clearly older than him .. book of rights laid out , holy symbols to Kelemvor present too … an animal skull or two on display … A Lot of Candles + incense as well .. it’ s clear everything he has he’ s been travelling with for a while and that he isn’ t going to replace them anytime soon ..

Seoras chooses someplace open and easy to see , so the others can come to him easy … he has a few small looms set up , variety degrees of finished projects on them . A travel apothecary , and a separate collection of mushrooms … bundles of dried flowers too , hanging in the breeze .. treats and an extra bed for his familiar … his first textile he has set up as the area rug for his camp

Danior’ s is very simple and hidden . Just a place where he dumps extra supplies .. a collections of boots , gloves , swords and weapon care kits … tucked away are a few books from before the fall of Netheril that are Very well loved .. the area is more for his familiar , who has a warm bed and extra food and water set up there too .. the tent has clear patches from repairs on it as well …

Lucian’ s isn’ t hidden , but it is tuck under a tree or something similar … too many things . Stacks of unread books , mismatched rugs , pillow plentiful, candles either burnt down to nothing or untouched , wind-chines and hanging ornaments .. very colourful VERY eyecatching … his flute case + music is the most well kept part of all of it but it still is marked by his flashy flair .. his tent is also covered in spilled ink splotched from accidents while travelling

Omen’ s tent placement changes , but he does try to keep close to water … his is a bit barren . Extra pieces for armor are hung , and plenty of his own writing is stacked and litters the area .. he does have a small map of Menzoberranzan and little notes about the few things he remembers … the crest of his oath is also visual at all times … he tried to get plain throws and pillows to hide some of the .. less than welcoming stains that litter his belongings ( thanks bhaal )

7) do they collect anything (gems, bottles, keys, etc)?

Seoras ends up collecting letters, mostly + mushrooms for his own medicines and whatnot . He has a soft spot for forgotten letters that they end up finding, and takes them with him. Sometimes, the words give them some useful information, but even if they don’t, he’ ll still fold them with care and keep them safe with him .

Danior … he doesn’t really have an itch for collecting anything .. but he does help collect things for other’ s . You tell him you like one thing and the next day he’ s gathered as much as he can of that One Thing . He does not care . You can tell him he doesn’ t have to , but he will . Slipping presents into peoples travel packs ..

Lucian collects cups and silverware … both so he can use them a) as intended b) for decorations and c) just to stare at the design and whatnot . If he likes a fork that is the fork that stays in his pack so he can look at it later like … this is such a cool fork … wow … the cups as well . He will collect broken teacups if the design is nice enough .. yes he does cut his fingertips when he does this sometimes ..

everytime i see ling tongs dw9 design i feel like i won in the lottery cuz his design is so good i love it so much. long rant cringe incoming

it has dw5 vibes but more evolved and the colors go so hard too... and i like how its slimmer overall which fits his weapon (much more than 8 fit the 3 section staff, i love that outfit too cuz it looks so cozy and warm and hes toasty in his scarf and sweater paws. but it doesnt fit his move set using his legs it feels too bulky for that like getting in the way?) the other outfit i didnt like much (the colors clash so much like the pink green purple and dark blue? :/ bad palette) but then the samurai armor dlc was so good (and matching with gan nings which added 3 more years to my life. like when i saw the list before the release i was pogging when i saw that they both have a different description from others but same between each another)

i was so worried before the dw9 design reveals cuz theres always some letdowns and i was fully bracing for them to cut his hair short or come up with something not fitting him like the dw7 draft.. but those madmen made his hair twice as long i was winning and the outfit was an instant fave like my most fav was 8 then i just immediately pushed it aside. make room for 9 this is the best

Overall a really really good game that was enjoyable to play and made me very excited for DA:DW

Characters 9.5/10 awesome I kiss almost everyone

Story 7.5/10 DLC made it good

Gameplay 8/10 challenging but not too much. loved the customizable weapons and armor and focus abilities in particular

I'm glad I never played DA until this year because I would've died waiting for the sequel ... I had so much fun and I want more so bad.

Despite all the glaring bugs (AND THERE ARE A TON OF THEM) the game itself was super duper fun. I think the strongest improvement from the previous DA installments was the characters--maybe it's because I came off of DA2 liking nobody in particular besides Varric (maybe Aveline too tho she hated my rebellion choices all the time), but to me DA:I had the most fleshed out and likable characters. I think the extra scenes you can view for each person added a whole lot to the experience, and they always had interesting things to say, and the interactions felt so organic and charming! I couldn't help but cry near the end when Cassandra started getting all soft on me 😭 and Dorian was the sweetest lover ever like. the way he was so tsun with his words but whenever my inquisitor did something amazing he'd look at him like "that's my man 🥺" so sweet. THE WAY I WAS LIKE "DORIAN I LOVE YOU" BEFORE THE LAST FIGHT AND HE WAS LIKE "YOU BASTARD I KNEW YOUD BREAK MY HEART" I WAS SO DISTRAUGHT!!! IF I DIED AND LEFT DORIAN ALONE I WOULD RIOT ON BIO.WARE PERSONALLY

ugh anyway amazing and lovable characters and drastically improved romances aside, the battle system felt much better to me!! I chose knight enchanter mage for my inquisitor and managed to find a really comfy setup that was challenging but not overly so, not like in the earlier games in the series, where I had to constantly switch the difficulty back to easy. DLC was sufficiently difficult too but not impossible even if I didn't do every single quest beforehand

what else. the area maps were stunning I could tell they really took the repetitive map note from DA2 and went all out with it. I had a fun time with every single map too and they had different challenges and cool puzzles, and I loved that it was open world but contained so I didn't feel like I was always getting lost and overwhelmed. In particular, I remember just looking out at emprise du leon like oooohh... colors .... the stark red lyrium against the white snow was so lovely and unsettling

a few things I didn't like were the amount of OVERTLY BAD BUGS like I know it's a huge and complex game and like classic Bio.Ware blah blah blah but I managed to get a side quest prompt stuck on my screen from the Orlais court mission all the way until the ending lmaooo. a couple times I had to reload bc my character was stuck in some weird half-tactical camera view and couldn't move anywhere. among other big bugs

I liked the story too ngl, main story was quite simplistic but the trespasser DLC made up for it greatly. I sincerely hope they at least kept the writers for Dread Wolf because I would love for the dialogue and character quality to be similar...

also for the love of god please do more bug fixes for DA4 I know it's. it's hard but. please </3

Alright but I’m obsessed with this -- he takes on parts of Forsyth’s colors/armor and parts of his personality and even parts of his speech... anything to keep his friend from disappearing for good....

I especially like the angst of Python picking up on his quotes. I always pictured that version of Python clamming up and being hauntedly quiet after Forsyth’s death, but I really like the idea that he keeps talking. After a lifetime of joking to Forsyth to shut up and quit nagging him, now he’s the one doling out the same advice and bad puns and catching himself halfway through. Much to think about 

I also love the fighting style thing. Not only does having both ranged and close attacks make for an interesting unit, it’s also way more dangerous -- and likely directly connected to his death. (On a different note, I think a green/blue lance/bow would be a really cool looking weapon!)

speaking on strangers things; i am happy hop is alive, but they way the wrote him surviving was too obvious of plot armor. oh he just jump onto the lower level, no major injuries or burns??? Like there was always another level below the machine, in the season 3 finale you literally see like 4 of the bad guys in hazzmat suits on that lower level be turned to dust. Also it would been more interesting to see him stuck in the upside down instead. But i did enoy that plotline over all, specially the prison breakout, betrayal, and monster fighting. The hawkings crew had the strongest arc, but i did genuinely enjoy all of them. the Bullyying though...... that was fcking extreme man and hard to watch ngl. Like who on earth bullies someone for grieving their dead father 😭 the skating rink...... like i dont condone violence but like somebody had to put her down. Also the van and dinner scene right after that were so fcking funny to me. also least favorite character this season is that one dude thats basically the archice andrews of hawkings. i know they want me to find him cute, but he just bothers me ksjdhfhdh. Also i liked vecna as a villian more when we didnt know who he actually was, like idk i just like itd be better if he originated from the upside down, but i do see why the connected it the way they did. My adhd brain doesnt mind the 294848 different plots tbh and long episodes, but i do hope the last two episodes is everybody coming together and staying together for more than that one group scene they have every season. There's so much detailing that is lost in this shot. I don't know if it's because of aftereffects/CGI or if they've applied a smoothing filter to this still or what, but if you watch the segment, the armor team worked super hard on that suit (it took 24 weeks to make) and honestly it looks pretty cool up close with tons of little etchings and designs, and this is not reflecting that hard work at all. What is the point of having detailed props/sets/costumes if you don't showcase them?😭😭😭
