Day Eighteen: Daryl Dixon + Home Alone 2 Lost In New York

The town of Alexndria is thankful to you. You're the only one that's been actiavly piccking up dvd movies from left over stores when you go out to search old buidlings, and stores. It's been just a year into the world ending, but you've managed to get a large collections of dvd movies.

It had started with eanting from your past, but then the urge to collect more started to grow. You had collected up to ten movies before people started to notice. That's when they started to actily ask you to see if you were able tofind certain movies for them. Which oddly you were able to do for them.

Daryl thought it was a rather silly thiing to worry about during the end of the world, you thought differentlt. "It brings humility back to the sad world we live in nowadays." You said asthe two of you search through an old busted up shopping center. Luck had been in your favor that day your backpack was stuffed with a few really good movies. Most in your collection already where action movies, some in their cases and others in paper sleeves."Whatever you say doll. Keep an eye yeah."

Your boyfriend. Your protector. The store is empty the both of you know it, but the zombies around this area are some sneaky bastards. You did has Daryl insitented and kept your ears and eyes opne while you walked around the deserted store. You managed to find a few good movies. Most of them were still in their cases and still sealed.

The town had known about your decent sized collection of movies. All which lined two shelf in your shared home with Daryl. That's when one night you got a knock on your door. Rick, Michonne, and Carol where standing at your door. "Hey Rick." You said the cold bow of the fall air breezing through and into your home.

"What's up?" You asked, Daryl suspision of your absense in bed followed the sound of your voice. He popped uo behind you in a pair of loose sweats and a t-shirt. "Guys? What are you here?" Daryl asked the three of them.

"Well…" Carol started, before looking over to Michonne and then finally to Rick. "We've been hearin' that you've got yourself a might good collection of movies." Rick said, you nodded. "Yeah." Still we were confused as to where the conversation was leading. "What are you gettin' at Rick?" Daryl asked rather straight forward, but that was just the sort of person he was.

"We are wanting to do something for the lot of us." Rick starts, "For the kids." Carol adds. "Okay, and what does this have to do with us?" Daryl asks getting a little hot headed, so you grab his hand and squeeze it gently.

"We were just wondering if we… if you would put on a few movies for us." Michonne is the one to finally ask the question, and all the anger is displaced by Daryl, when he looks down at you. "Would you be okay with sharing like that doll?" He asks you.

It takes a moments of time, not for you to think but for you to look at the three people standing in front of you. Begging you for some sort of normalcy in the ruined and forgetten world. "I don't mind sharin' at all." Rick and the two others leave a with happy smile on their faces, while you and Daryl manage to make it back to bed without any further intrupttions.

The next morning there you are sitting in front of the book shelf organizing and putting certain movies into a pile. With chirstmas on the way you put together a pile of chirstmas movies. Hoping that the few you do have will be enough to get you through the new year. "Baby?" Your boyfriend called from the stairs. You were quick to answer. "Down Here!" You shouted in return.

The loud desending footsteps gave way to Daryl apperence when he was leaning agasint the entrance to the living room. "So I heard over the wakile that Rick might wanna have that movie night hewas talkin' about tonight. Are you alright with that?" Daryls arms are crossed over each other when you look up and he's got a fresh bedhead. You nod and frantically get back to your dvds

It's that night when you manage to gather yourself, two blankets and your movies to the middle of the large field. Since there wasn't any other place to have this movie night at, a few large white sheets were put up to make a screen. Someone esle had found a projecter and another had found a dvd player. The only thing you wouldn't have was noise and that to not attract the xombies on the other side of the wall.

After handing over your dvds, you and Daryl went to find a cozy and comfy spot on the large lawn. Daryl was actually the one to find your spot. Hell he had even brought a few snacks. A batch of those cookies that Carol had made, and some not out of date popcorn.

Your spot was far enough back that nobody else was near you, and close enough to a tree that Daryl was actually able to rest his back upon it. "You've made me go domestic." He whispered in your ear as you leaned back into his chest covering yoursefl up with the secondary blanket you had tucked in your bag. "Hmm, maybe but you love it Daryl." You muttered back. There's cheers when the title scene rolls across the white sheets. "Home alone 2?" You hum at Daryls words. You had managed to find a dvd collection of a few great chirstmas classics. That day you had been very proud of yourself for the find.

It's not until you're about half way through the movie, the part where Kevin is talking to the bird lady, that a rough hands starts to comb through your hair. You feel the snag of your hair and then the smooth detanglemtn of them. You hum in appreations for Daryls movments behind you that one second your eyes are opne and you can feel Daryl calm heartbeat in your back, and the next you feel the fluffy bed beneath you a sweet kiss to your temple, and a low whisper from Daryl. "Thank you for collect a bit of humanity, to bring back with you."

An interesting collection published in 2017 by Pushkin Press, 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ. THE KING IN YELLOW was a volume first printed in 1895 and authored by Robert W. Chambers. No individual tale was called, THE KING IN YELLOW. The stories were complex, vauge and open to interpretation. Certainly Chambers himself was influenced in this work by 2 minor and nebulous tales previously written by Ambrose Bierce. The handsome cover of this particular book is a somewhat stylized and abstract take on the poster Chambers himself created to advertise his own book. The design and cover illustration was by Leo Nicholls. Chambers (1865-1933) attended art school in Paris and himself was a respected painter with more than a few salon exhibits. Chambers, who was American by birth and desended from a well to do New York family, turned to writing rather than art. Though he is best known today as a writer of horror fiction, he would eventually turn to romance-type fiction and became one of the most successful authors of the early twentieth century. Despite the general belief that Chambers' King in Yellow tales held a direct link to HPL's work, that is demonstrably untrue. Nonetheless Lovecraft respected Chambers' horror tales and mentions some of his characters and place names in passing in his own works. The idea that The King in Yellow was in fact Hastur and a standard character in the so-called, Cthulhu Mythos, is all August Derleth and ZERO Lovecraft. (Exhibit 477)

All You Got And Then Some (1/2)

Tachikawa Base- Exam Day

Reno: Wow, This is the Defence Force's Tachikawa base!

Psaro: Quite the grand base, I would except nothing less for the Troopers that train here.

Today was the day of Kafka and Reno's exam to become Defense Force members, and Psaro who had to change up there appearence and choose black hair and blue eyes ( like Kafka) along with rounding out there ears and wearing a baseball cap just to be sure that they wouldn't get recognized

Reno: No kidding, I visited the Kumagaya Base on my social studies

Kafka: This place shares a building with The Japan Self-Defence Force's Camp. In emergency situations, they work in conjunction to dispatch officers all over Nishi-Tokyo

Reno: * Scanning the area* That explains a lot.... I would say if you transformed you would be screwed but.... * looks over to Psaro who is still looking over the Base* I think you luckily have a card to get out of that situation.

Kafka: Ya, there a quite a few officers, but don't worry. I'm locked and loaded, and at the top of game. Nothing like that is gonna happen.

????: Hey, Old Man

Kafka: No use chickening out now. Let's go shall we?

Reno: Sir? * Pokes Kafka*

Psaro: Hmmmm? Who are you?

Kafka: * Turns around and points to himself* Huh....? Me?

Reno: * Thoughts* Is this girl an examinee?

Psaro: * Thoughts* Well she seems quite pompous....

The banter countinued on between Kafka and the girl who they learned was named Kikoru Shinomiya, went on for awhile as the dispute was over a parking spot and a lucky number. Though it ended when Kikoru picked up the car thanks to her combat suit and tossed. Naturally the trio freaked out over there car gwtting throne. Then there was a close call when Kafka lifted the car back up-right shocking Shinomiya. Thankfully Kikoru didn't press Kafka about it, chalking it up to having his own suit. After a decleration from Kafka, she countred with one of her own saying she couldn't wait to make a fool out of him. After all that and a brief chewing out from Reno, the duo went too take the exams with Psaro and all the Monster wishing them luck ( before they left the house).

Psaro: Good luck, Kafka, Reno may the Goddess grace you.... Alright let's go find a good spot to spectate.

Spectators Booth Pov

Psaro and a couple of the other Monsters that wanted to watch took to perching themselves on top of a very very tall building. Gooey had brought along snacks in the car ( that thankfully stayed in one piece) and Psaro brought along a couple special small telescopes, so they could watch the exams take place. So Psaro, Fizzy, Gooey, Purrvis, Duffer, and Eileen all watched and cheered for Kafka and Reno.

Running Laps

Purrvis Zoom in Mode: Hmmm, Kafka's form is good, but he is still heavily lagging behind the others.

Duffer Zoom in Mode: Yes, it seems Sir Kafka's running speed needs to be polished more, however he is still doing adimirable. Though I have to say the competition seems stiff.

Eileen Zoom in Mode: Eye couldn't agree more, Kafka is pushing himself to the limit and Reno is doing good too. Eye just hope that it's enough.

Pull-ups

Psaro: Kafka is doing well on the pull ups, that upper body training seems to have payed off. Though his pace compared to the others seems to be shy of the average.

Duffer: While I'm not expert on brute strength, he seems to be letting himself desend down to harshly and straining his muscles. Perhaps some pointers for future training would be useful.

Balance Test

Purrvis: That's good Kafka, breathe in and out. Focus on moving across and don't look done.

Fizzy: Ohhh your doing great love, keep this up and you'll be the break out star of the exams

Climbing

Eileen: That's the ticket Kakfa, don't rush focus on getting a good grip and you'll be seeing the view from the top in no time.

The tests proceeded onwards with Kafka ranking around 204 out of 225.

Purrvis: That's not a bad ranking with how stiff the competition was and it seems Reno managed a 157 ranking.

Duffer: Yes, that quite good, however it seems Sir Kafka does not share the sentiment.

Fizzy: Oh that Eejit, he's singing doom and gloom, before the test is even over. He won't make it through, if he panics before the games even over. * Shouts* COME ON LOVE WE'RE ROOTIN FOR YOUR VICTORY, SO DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Gooey who had been busy snacking in the background, along with Purrvis who joined in eating the sushi that was brought, spoke up

Gooey: It soundze that like Kafka is having a bit of trouble with the exams * Slurp* Do you think he can pull a hat trick and win?

Psaro: Yes I do, I believe Kafka can make his dream a reality he's come this far and can break past his limits. He can accomplish so much, when he believes in something and nothing can stop- annndddd he's getting beat up by 2 guys... oohhh Kafka....

With the first part out of the way the second part of the exams were getting underway. To kill as many Youju and the one Honju that were in the training grounds and unfortunately for Kafka, his combat power was a 0. The call to begin rang out everyone took off like bullet, everyone except Kafka.

Kafka: We're heading out too! Stay close to me Ichikawa!!!

Reno: THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN MY LINE!!!!

Without the suits power to help lift the gun, Kafka was left dragging it. After some banter and Kafka trying to look cool, Kafka made an observation about the exam. That they would be taking note of there actions in the exam and how they handled themselves. So deciding to switch up tatics they moved to support there fellow examinees. Though that would have to wait as a Youju decided too Kool-Aid Man there way through a wall.

Kafka: A Youju!?!? It must have slipped past the others and made it's way to the back!

Reno: * Begins To Fire* Sir, we need too run, this things hide is too tough to break through!!!

As they begin to move back from the advancing Youju, Kafka ends up coming up with an idea.

Kafka: Wait a minute Ichikawa, I recognize this Youju. I remember doing a joint clean up on these types of Youju, there hides are super weak on there belly. If we can get it to rear upwards then we can kill it * looks to see a sharp piece of broken rebar* and have the perfect plan.

As the Youju, began there charge the plan was put into motion. Ichikawa providing cover fire waited a bit until the Youju got in closer. When it was withing a good enough distance, Ichikawa threw out a stun grenade, causing the Youju to recoil in pain. This led Kafka charge towards the Youju, rebar raised like a sword as he focused.

Kafka: * Thoughts* Alright it's now or never, remember what you learned from Percival and... * Brings the rebar forward and shouts* SLASH TWICE LIKE A FALCON

In a stunning display of strength and speed, 2 blink-and-you-will-miss-it slashes were dealt to the Youju's head leaving very deep wounds and causing it to cry out in pain and just as planned the Youju stood on it's hind legs gripping it's face in pain.

Kafka: NOW ICHIKAWA!!!

Not being needed to be told twice, Reno sent out a volley of shots that pierced the Youku's stomach killing it.

The Youju know laid there defeated by Kafka and Reno combined teamwork.

Kafka: Did we....?

Reno: We did.....

Kafka/Reno: WE TOOK DOWN A KAIJU!!!

This was the boost the duo really needed and with renewed courage and vigor they went to go out and help the other examinees. Not knowing Kafka's display of swordmanship had captured the attention of one Vice-Captain.

I love the commentary from the Rosehill Gallery. They definitely cheered when Kafka and Reno manage to take down a kaiju. Also that sword technique got Soshiro's attention.

Despite having a 0 combat power, Kafka managed to pierce through the Yoju's hide using rebar with incredible skill. Soshiro definitely wants to see that talent honed further. Instead of becoming a cadet, Kafka finds himself in the Defense Force through apprenticeship by the 3rd Vice Captain.

Part 2 is done! i could have done more but there is not alot of time left so i want to get a move on and im quite tired. Besides its good enough!

But anyways ya this AU that Nine finds himself in is one where Eggman & co are the good guys and Sonic & Friends are the bad guys! In my notes i have just refered to it as "The Anti-Verse AU" or just "Anti-Verse" & such and i think Thats a good enough name.

The basic Idea of the AU is as follows:

The Evil Tyrant Maximillian Acorn, King of Moebius seeks to conquer the world in his own name for only He has the vision for a perfect world, it's his destiny! or so he believes.

Sonic and friends are his loyal followers and lackeys. They might have their own reasons for helping King Acorn’s conquest of the world but help him they shall.

But on the forefront to oppose him, from humble beginnings as a simple toy maker is the Brilliant Dr Ovi Kintobor and his friends! They seek the freedom of all and schtuff, essentially mainline Sonic’s deal y'know?

So far the only design i have done is Anti-Verse Eggy but for the AU i changed his name to Ovi Kintobor! I obviosly used Fleetway Kintobor and IDW's Mr Tinker as an inspiration but i have not yet decided if i want to use that alias in the same way Ivo Robotnik is Dr Eggman.

A comparison of my designs.

Whilst its not 110% done i am still very happy and proud of the Mech i built for Kintobor. I decided to make it green to contrast against how most Eggman Mechs are red. And again to contrast against Eggman Kintobor only has the 1 mech as opposed to Eggy's absurd amount. Eggman makes Mecha for specific purposes whilst Kintobor has more of a swiss army knife approach with 1 modular all purpose mech.

Which is why im fine with leaving it this unarmed for now. In the context of the scene Kintobor doesnt want to look threatening to Nine. Going back to the scene; whats hip happening is Kintobor and Nine meeting and Kintobor trying to convince Nine he is the good guy here (which he 100% is) and to come with him.

To add some extra context i decided to make use of @donelywell 's Loose rule of Sonic & Tails meeting Nine quite quickly after arrival and with that in mind; Sonic and Tails be bad guys in this AU and with Kintobor & Crew noticing Nine's arrival first he naturally wants to get Nine out of there before Sonk and Tails get him. And rember that ship from part 1? that was Kintobors.

So to Recap and add some more: Kintobor and Crew notice Nine quite quickly after his arrival. Luckily They were already about to disembark so they could desend via the ships elevators quite quickly. Plan is for Kintobor to make a B-Line to get Nine and convince him to come with Kintobor whilst Anti-Verse Metal Sonic and Shadow are to be lookout and give a heads up when they see Sonic & Tails as Kintobor & crew knew it would only be a matter of time before they got there.

And with that lets get back to talking more about the AU itself!

Mainline Eggy obviously has no qualms about using lethal force but obviously that doesnt feel right for a Good Guy Eggman and yet he needs some way to combat the fastest thing alive and his companions. So eventually i landed on the idea Kintobor stunning his opponents, just like how Stun works in Star Wars; Zap em and they go to sleep/are knocked out and with tougher individuals requiring more zaps.

but what would be the method of Kintobor's zapping? I figiured a gun of some kind, that kind eventually becoming the Retro-SciFi Ray Gun you see before you now.

And the Mech got such zappers in its palms, like Iron Man y'know? Speaking of the Mech, as you can see here i did give it a sword. My idea again being a very vercitile machine its gotta account for many scenarious, like for instance bad guy robots and mechs; and so a Sword! I have plans for even more weapons and different arms and other pieces since as said; i wish it to be quite modular.

Wow this long wasnt it? I will try to not say as much for parts 3 & 4 (no promises) whilst part 5 will be all cards on the table meaning probably as long as this one if not longer, we shall see.

But hopefully next week part 3 and introducing this AUs Shadow, See you then!

The Watsonian reason as to why Inigo, Severa, and Owain were chosen to get sent to fates by Anankos is so funny to me. Like the Doyelist reason is that they were the most popular Gen 2 kids, not including Lucina. But the reason Anakos chose those three is that he thought they would be able to blend into Fateslandia the best. Like he saw Inigo, Severa, and Owain and went "ah yes, the normal ones." The worst part is, Anankos isn't wrong, with the exception of Laurent, Kjelle, and maybe Noire (she's not any weirder then anyone else), they are the most normal of Gen 2.

Of course, this begs the question of who the worst options would be for Anankos to send to fates.

Characters who could easily replace the gang: The aforementioned Laurent, Kjelle, and Noire. Laurent collects useless tomes, Kjelle is an honorable knight, and Noire has mood swings. Nothing that would cause them to stand out too much.

Characters who could, but have a mount: Gerome and Cynthia. Gerome and Cynthia are in the same boat as the previous three, but they also have their mounts. Gerome, especially since Minerva is shown to be rather expressive. Outside of their mounts, Cynthia and Gerome would actually be quite solid picks for Anankos.

Only if scarifices are made: Lucina and Brady. If Lucina ditched Falchien, she could easily fly under the radar. Of course, she would never do that, so she would be running around Nohr with dragon slaying sword that is missing the batteries, and only she can use. Brady is a priest to Naga, a deity who doesn't exist in fates. If he stopped being a priest, he would have a few problems on account of his attitude, but nothing major.

They're going to need a damn good cover story: Yarne and Nah. A Taguel and a Manakette. I think Nah might have an easier time as no one ever questions Corrin about their Dragon heritage. Yarne, however, would have to explain why no records of rabbit-like beastkin exist. His cowardice is not doing him any favors.

Absolutely not: Morgan. Oh, my silly amnesiac child. At base, they are an amnesiac who was manipulated by an evil dragon who was also their parent. Depending on their parents, they can also be a Manakette like Nah or a Taguel like Yarne. They can also be Valmese, Yeilssian, or Plegian royalty. They can even be the desendant of Ike. Considering what allows the other royals to use dragon veins, Morgan could probably use them, no matter who their parents are. They are also one of the densest beings in Fire Emblem. They might be my baby, but in fates, they are a liability.

Bakers Dozen: Canon Ships I want to see in Star Trek Online

I love Star Trek Online, and one of my favorite features is the sheer number of ships you can fly from in the shows. From the 22nd century to the 32nd century, there are literally hundreds of choices. But there are still many canon starships I’ve have not had the chance to make poor finacial decisions for. So what better choice for the first round of Baker’s Dozen.

Here’s 12 canon Starships (and one honorable mention) I want in Star Trek Online.

Lets start with the Honorable mention:

The Consitution III Class

Picard Season III’s hero ship, the affectionatly dubbed NeoConnie bears the distiction of being both the Titan A and Enteprise G. Those who read my Enteprise F headcanon also encountered the USS Riptide, an early command of my Captain. Why then is she only an honorable mention? Because the developers have already announced they are working on her. *sighs* shes gonna be a promo ships isn’t she?

1. The Federation Class 

First appearing in Franz Joseph's Technical Manual, this design first appeared on screen as background display’s in The Wrath of Khan and The Search for Spock. More recently, Star Trek Picard saw model’s of this legendary starship in Ten Forward, alonside ships such as voyager and Enterprise D. Considering my flagship is a Gal-X, this would be a wonderful predecessor. Plus TOS ships are always welsome

2. The Romulan Bomber

In Picard Season 1 we were introduced to the Romulan ships with this beauty. An elegant design with blade like wings, it instantly caught my heart. Instantly recogniable as a Romulan vessel while being a new and distinctive shape, it was a perfect evolution of what came before.More Romulan rep is always appreciated. C-Store? Please?

3.The Niagra Class

One of my favorite ships in all of Star Trek, the Niagra class is a three nacelled cruiser blending elements of the ambassador and galaxy lines. Perhaps uniquely, the third nacelle is underslung. She has only appeared as wreckage, most notably the USS Princeton, lost at the Battle of Wolf 359, nut several other STO ships have the same origin. The Cheyenne and New Orleans both come from the same boneyard fleet. Also a updated Princeton Class to match the Lafeyette and Andromeda would be gorgeous.

4. Lower Decks BackGround Ship

This unamed Ship class from Lower Decks is beggin for someone to realize her full potential, maybe a desendant of the Crossfeild Class? I loved her from the moment I saw her, and desperatly want to know more.

5.The Yeager Class

No this is not a meme, its one of my favorite background ships. She has an isane amount of screentime, as shes in stock footage used alot in DS9. She served throughout the Dominion War. Why the weird hull? In my headcanon, she was built as a proof of concept for a tactical sister class to the Intrepid. (This will eventually be a full headcanon post). Once she proved succesful (for what she was), the go ahead was given to desgin a production version with a properly designed secondary hull. The outbreak of hostilities saw the Yeagar pushed into service, as she was a fully combat capable vessel. Also, the amazing Pundus already designed the 2412 variant. 

6.The Mayflower class

A ship from the Kelvin timeline, the namesake of this ADORABLE starship was lost at the Battle of Vulcan in 2258. We need more Kelvin ships, and it is a crime this sweet gal isn’t in game already.

7.The Duderstadt class

You knew. I knew. The Pakleds knew. A modified Bill Krause design, much like the Titan/Enterprise herself, the USS Intrepid made a daring, intimidating, and awe inpiring debut in Star Trek Picard Season 3. Its rare to see a new ship so univserally loved today. But she deserves it. The only bad thing is she’s prolly gonna be the lockbox ships.

8.Jupp Class

This Gal appears waaayyy in the back of a DS9 episode according to the art deparment. Good enough for me. Shes a clear member of the refit family, and is an obvious choice to add to the Miranda/Clarke/Light Cruiser Frame. Always could use TMP rep

9. The Intrepid Type

Really? This isn’t in game already? How?!? Please? Enterpise Era Rep? I haven’t even watched Enterprise yet (oops) and I know this ship!

10.Springfeild Class

Another ship lost at Wolf 359, common, pretty small science ship? Complete the fleet? It could literally be the Chekov class.

11.Curry Class

This class appears in Deep Space 9, and features tow variants with different Nacelles arrangements. TMP Carrier anyone?

12. Block 2 Constitution Class (Kelvin Timeline)

I just want to talk. Its been 7 years since this beautiful ships arrived, and theres no offical models, and no STO Release...WWWHWHHHHYYYYY????

I love this ship. Its my favorite lettered Enteprise. I need her. Shes the only canon Enterprise besides the G not in game, and they’re working on the G. Best design in the Kelvin Timeline, and we don’t have her. I would totally spend stupid money on her, but I can’t.

Please STO, show mercy.

idea for a story i had i cant quite get out my mind bear with me this is long

it revolves mainly around a group of cavers sent to explore a very deep cave by local authorities, the man that is said to oversee the expedition (from the official side) is young and overworked, desperate to prove himself as fit for the position his father placed him in

he meets with the group of cavers, between them he bonds specifically with the leader, a man in his mid thirties who really saw how tired and anxious he was and who spent what little time they had in private telling him wonderfull stories about previous dives like fairytales. the young man is really touched by his passion and is determined to help him from his side as much as possible.

the group was large, but only one other person caught the mans attention, a man only slightly older than himself that seemed really close with the captain, he heard one of the other men in the group whisper that he was the newest addition to the group and that this would be his first big mission

the other young man was nervous but exited and he clings to the olders arm when possible.

he sees them desend into the darkness togheter as the first ones of the group.

the story would follow 2 pov, out og office boy and the caver boy going one day at a time.

very quickly communication with the team below becomes difficult, the setting in my mind is not truly modern, i imagine theyll be doing their best to set up cables from the entrance to the cave to get direct communication.

during the office boy (he doesnt have a name sorry) segments hed be stressing over the whole thing, the consensus on the surface is that the expedition should be called off. what little information they get from below paints an incresitly worrying picture and office boy becomes very quickly overwhelmed by it all, his father presures him quite a bit too.

every time he goes to sleep the story switches povs.

the cavers seem to be doing fine actually! sure the issues w comunication are a bummer but theyre making good progress and everyones chilling! here we would get to see the relationship betwen cave boy and the captian, a sortan mentor/student bond, almost like father and son.

most of the worrying things said trhough comms seem like horible misundersteandings here. "we're runnning low on food' cut out right before they could explain how they found lots of edible mushrooms growing in the walls.

meanwhile in the surface, after comms cut out completly, the team below is presumed dead by everyone but office boy whos very clearly hanging all his self worth on this going right and seems to belive he knows every man on that team better than everyone else.

he talks with the mens families, particularly the captains. his wife doesnt seem to fond of him and neither do his children, the man they describe is far from the one that so sweetly told office boy all the wonderfull things about his life and his team, far too from the loving man we've seen from cave boys povs

that same night the divers find fresh water on a stream below the ground, they eat while laughing and joking with each other, not tired from thier jurney at all.

he talks with cave boys family next, his brother seems to not like him too much either, he talks about the captain with disgust too, calling him a cheater and a horrible influence, and implies a lot of things that office boy actively ignores

as he finds out more about these men, their issues with each other and the other people in their lives and how they really where beyond the smile they showed him (their superior mind you) things in the cave seem to get better and better before it becomes abuntantly clear to the audience that we never saw the pov of the cavers, and all that storyline was office boys daydreams based completely in the embelished stories the captain told him before going

he never knew cave boy, but he placed himself in his shoes anyways. he saw a split second of what he thought was a mentor/student dinamic and ran with it, HE wished he could have simply gone down into the cave instead of dealing w his current life, HE wished he could be guided by a man as seemingly patient and loving as the captain

so he ignored all the sppl telling stories of him having been cruel to his team members, negletfull towards his children, unloving towards his wife.

he wanted to be cave boy, who carried himself with confidence despite his busted shoes, who so casually talked to the captain like knew each other as more than just coworkers, he wanted to be that guy that would look just like him if you where to iron his shirt and comb his hair

he still lies to himself about this for a while longer, he argues with his peers about this all being true like he himself was there to know. it becomes clear to everyone around him,specially his father, that hes lost his mind.

meanwhile in "the cave" the teams finds everything they conviniently would ever need, the dreams becoming shameless self indulgence for a man whose life is falling apart

finally cave boys brother one day shares with him ( who has been obssesibly calling him as mcuh as he can) that he suspected his brother was having an afair with the captain. this of course makes out insane office boy really mad, he tries to argues about the lives of strangers hes never truly met with someone that shared a house wiht one of them. the brother refuses to talk to him after that

the team at the cave sleep in comfortable beds made of soft moss in a spacious cave softly illuminated by undiscovered mushrooms while office boy falls asleep at his desk

he gets fired,of couse and in my head this ends with him killinh himself but idk about that i think itll make sense but idlkkk

Lovecraft in overview, part 2: Though H. P. Lovecraft was generally a very honest and unguarded person, he lied to his wife, Sonia Haft Greene Lovecraft when he told her he had signed and filed the divorce papers she insisted upon. Divorce for someone of Lovecraft's background would have been exceedingly embarrassing and distasteful. Still, there was no excuse for the lie. Sonia eventually remarried after she and HPL parted ways. She was not aware that she was guilty of bigamy in doing so. Though honest, perhaps relatively speaking, HPL was capable of considerable exaggeration and hyperbole at times too. Though he made claims to associates that he was desended from ancestors that were genteel framers and possessed a family tree that was "lousy" with preachers, researchers have proven that that was not particularly true. Though Lovecraft lived in a sort of playful fantasy life, with numerous psuedo identities and pen names, he never seemed to take these things too seriously either nor fell into any serious mental delusions in that regard. For Lovecraft and his close friends such things were never more than fun and games. Though HPL more than once wrote of the possibility that he might be tempted to commit suicide he never seemed to make any actual attempts in that direction. Though Lovecraft is perhaps known today first and foremost for his invention of the Cthulhu Mythos and his anti-semitism and rabid racism generally, he did not not use the term 'Cthulhu Mythos' when writing about the backstory concepts of his fiction, In fact Cthulhu Mythos was not coined in HPL's lifetime. Almost certainly August Derleth must take credit for that. As to Lovecraft's anti- semitism, he was married briefly to a talented and beautiful woman of Jewish heritage. One of his close early friendships was with a Jewish fellow named Samuel Loveman. In later years Lovecraft declared admiration for Albert Einstein and the theories of Sigmund Freud (both of Jewish Heritage). In later years Lovecraft befriended the teenaged Robert Bloch and Kenneth Sterling, both remarkably intelligent individuals and both of Jewish background. Though Lovecraft probably never abandoned his ill-feelings towards black folks it's also probable that he never had too many in-person interactions with people of African heritage. When he was a child his family employed an African-American maid, but beyond this lady Lovecraft likely knew little about dark skinned people beyond what he read in books. Let's face it, America of Lovecraft's time was hardly very progressive when it came to race relations! Until WW2, which Lovecraft did not live long enough to experience, America and Western Europe were still in the control of "white people" who might have also considered themselves 'Aryans'. To many in this group persons of all other races and cultures were inferior and in some cases any group not of European heritage might even qualify as 'savages'. Well, unlike some in his day, Lovecraft held a considerable admiration for the Japanese as a culture and for someone who considered himself a loyal Englishman - despite the fact that he never even stepped foot in Britain - he also appreciated the French. When I visited England a decade back, I myself was frankly (no pun intended) surprised to find that even to this day the French are not particularly well liked in "Merry Old England"! (Exhibit 575)
