psychonauts 2 is a normal platformer that totally won’t give you depression

After a few weeks and a bit of delay because of vacation, it is finally done! I first got the idea to make this after thinking to myself “man the vibe of this song fits Ford’s backstory”. I’ve actually been wanting to make PMV-type videos for a long time (and used to kind of do so on paper, but those are old and made by a 5th-grader), but never quite had the opportunity to make one digitally. Until now! 

I’m overall pretty happy at how this turned out, save for sucking at drawing Ford’s face. Not super used to drawing more cartoony characters. Though after doing this video, I can say it was a pretty good exercise in doing so.  You can also tell that I don’t like drawing backgrounds

I’ll share some of the drawings I made for this video sometime later, as well as some of the process. I may or may not have put in a lot of detail on a certain drawing towards the end.

lmfaooo i forgot my name was “bl fanfare” for a moment

[an hour to midnight edit] big clownery under the cut.

as my birthday passes into birthnight, i started to overthink stuff… like about how i even got into this honeyworks fandom lmaooooo

i’m pretty sure i started liking honeyworks stuff from around the time when every other rinlen fanfic was based on “suki kirai”… man, fanfics from the early 2010s sure were wild… and repetitive…

then i guess i started vibing to “yakimochi no kotae” somewhere along the line because i found mochita cute?

but anyways, the first song i remember being around for was “inokori sensei” (i.e. wayyyy before the characters even had official seiyuus). i first watched it subbed on the original descentsubs channel (the one that’s now axed, rip to our fallen god), where it then proceeded to live rent-free in my head for the next few weeks or so.

then eventually “kinyoubi no ohayou” was released and i proceeded to find narumi sena incredibly plain until the release of “kawaiku naritai”.

and uhhh… as for the love story i related to the most… it was koyuhina’s! though it was different in the sense that we were of the same age… the dude i liked had the same birthday as koyuki, so it kinda counts, right? ksksksk

oh right… as for aiyuu, the reason why this dumb tumblr thing was even refurbished from whatever tf i had originally created it for, i actively avoided lipxlip content until the bandori cover of “romeo” was released on the en servers.

why? well, i just wanted to avoid shipping them together, thinking “this is honeyworks. of course these guys are gonna be hetero af. i don’t wannaaaaaa get attached to them, only to get disappointed.” looks like that turned out well for me, i guess…?

Oke balik ke topik! Untuk menemani lagu ini agar jangan sepi sendirian, dilukis pula komik pendek oleh illustrator CHRIS. Bisa disimak terjemahannya di mari oleh akun sailorenna. Terjemahan ini juga yang sedikit banyak membantu daku dalam memahami cerita di balik lagu ini. Makanya daku bilang kisahnya lebih intens dibanding kisah seorang gadis muda yang bingung apakah perasaan yang disimpannya untuk sahabatnya dari SMA itu adalah rasa naksir atau kagum meskipun dia jeles setengah hidup sama semua orang yang mendekati sang sobat.

 This was originally meant for Dec 15, but with turning 18 and the holidays, going around a lot just takes up a lot of time, doesn’t it? Ahaha— (Cheesus, I should have started a month before; this took up WEEKS—) But I guess if I couldn’t reach 25, then the last day of the year will do too. Anyways, this is me trying to make a tradition of making angst content with my two favorite Neo-Trilogy boys every December. The first installation of said tradition could be found here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF4GH...) ! 

 Now, there’s really not much to say but I guess thank everyone who’s been with me throughout this wonderful, crazed year. I tried my hardest for this little animation so that I can go out with a bang for the New Years! I hope you all enjoy this video, because surely I did when I got to work on it! Haha— 

 I’ve always dreamed of recreating a fan video based off this, and I’m glad I get to see the idea come to life after how long now. My only regret was how I could have tweaked Apollo’s still used for the majority of the animation since the only other still he had (the sideways one) had a much more mature approach on style. Oh well, if we’re keeping the moe for the most part, I can’t do much about it anymore! Hold on, I just noticed some parts of that still isn't coloured-- Anyways, enjoy the show!
