“On Wednesday afternoon the news came that the Grand Prix was cancelled and then Max himself came up with the idea of organizing a sim race, so that there is still something to experience for the fans this weekend, but also to draw attention to what is happening in Emilia-Romagna and to support the people affected by the storm. "So this really happens on Max's initiative," Atze Kerkhof of Team Redline told Motorsport.com. “Max will of course participate and there will be quite a few members of the Red Bull Junior Team with Enzo Fittipaldi, Ayumu Iwasa, Arvid Lindblad, Jak Crawford and Isack Hadjar. There will also be drivers from Formula E, including Antonio Felix da Costa and Oliver Rowland. Three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen and Luke Browning have also agreed to participate.”
F2 driver Richard Verschoor, Aston Martin reserve Felipe Drugovich and Alpine reserve Jack Doohan have also been confirmed via Twitter. A grid of twenty-five to thirty drivers is targeted. Kerkhof himself will also participate, just like a few other riders from the Team Redline stable. “But also Sebastian Job, who is part of the Red Bull Racing Esports team. So it will be a nice mix of professional sim drivers and names that normally come out on the track.”
Just like the previous races that were held under the name Real Racers Never Quit, they will be driven on iRacing. “We will be running four races in a row at the Imola circuit, with four different cars,” Kerkhof explains the format of Sunday's event. “We are doing a race with a Formula 3, a race with a Formula Ford, a race with a Mazda MX-5 and a race with a Toyota GR86. Max chose these cars because they are not too difficult to master in the game, are fun to drive and can make for entertaining races for the viewers. We could also have gone for a Formula 1 or GT3, but then you will spend a lot more time getting to know the game version of the car and it might also be less competitive in the races. But because we want to have races that are fun to watch first and foremost, Max picked these four.”
As mentioned earlier, Verstappen wants to raise money with the sim race for the victims of the storm in Emilia-Romagna. “We will support the same action as AlphaTauri,” explains Kerkhof. “As you know that team is based in Faenza and that place has also been hit hard. We will show a link and QR code in the stream that can be used to donate money to the emergency fund. We will encourage anyone watching to make a donation."
Setting up a major sim racing event this hastily is no easy feat. Kerkhof: “Verstappen.com Racing and Team Redline have worked together to get this event off the ground. And Verstappen.com Racing is in turn supported by Red Bull, which has helped to gather some of these drivers. So yes, it is a lot of work, but the fact that Verstappen.com Racing and Team Redline have joined forces makes it a lot easier.” - Atze van de Kerkhof about tomorrow's RRNQ (X)

I've been sitting on this since Bridgerton Season 3 ended, to really consider it and what I think. And the TLDR is that the actors across the board, but particularly Nicola Coughlan, Luke Newton, Hannah Dodd, and Victor Alli, knocked it out of the park. Fabulous performances. But the structural and narrative arc writing from the Bridgerton writer's room (particularly in terms of cul de sacs and blatant contradictions and everything about Lady Whistledown--but not the switch from Michael to Michaela Stirling; I'm actually intrigued to see where they're going with that) was absolutely appalling. More below the break for anyone who wants to keep reading.
So...the writing on Season 3. I'm going to start with where I think Michaela Stirling might go, and why I think they can actually make this storyline queer while still engaging with the infertility storyline that so many people connected with in the book. There is every possibility that Francesca will decide that she both wants to be with Michaela and wants to be a mother--but Regency England doesn't have IVF, so we could theoretically keep John alive, and have Francesca be really honest with him and Michaela and come to an agreement where she and Michaela get to have a relationship, and John will agree to help Frannie get pregnant because he needs an heir. Honestly, we could have a really interesting relationship between Frannie, Michaela, and John here where everyone is here for their own specific reasons AND because they care for each other. We could Iron Widow this, people!!! Frannie can still deal with infertility and how that affects her relationships with both John and Michaela, and we still get the effects of grief and infertility on relationships.
Alternatively, we can still have John unceremoniously drop dead (this is not my preferred choice, but like...the book exists), and have Frannie lose her pregnancy. If the miscarriage is secret, Frannie could try to get pregnant again (I bet Michaela knows people) and have a series of quick miscarriages before they couldn't hide the fact that John wasn't the father anymore. This is a less strong writing choice, but it could still be an exploration of grief and infertility. So overall, I think there is an argument to be made for making this storyline queer, and I'm interested to see where it goes. I'm not hopeful that the current Bridgerton writer's room will handle this well, but like...I can see paths to go forward on without losing the themes that people resonated with from the book.
Now. We need to talk about the Lady Whistledown thing. Season 3 spent A LOT of time telling us that Lady Whistledown was a mistake and it was actively harmful and it ruined lives. And yeah, if you just watch Season 3, that sounds pretty damning and like it would be best for everyone that Lady Whistledown gets buried (or leashed by Queen Charlotte, which is what actually happens and I cannot TELL you how mad I was about that).
The problem with that is that I was here for Seasons 1 and 2. And I want the Bridgerton Season 3 writer's room to POINT TO THE LIVES THAT LADY WHISTLEDOWN ACTUALLY RUINED. Because everyone who was written about landed on their feet. Daphne avoided Nigel Berbrooke (and Violet wouldn't have been ABLE to get Daphne out from his thumb without Lady Whistledown to publish his philandering and terrible conduct. I stand by Nigel not being ruined and frankly deserving WORSE than having to run to the country). Marina was not in a good situation from minute 1 of the season for social reasons, not because of anything Lady Whistledown wrote. And here's the thing: Pen got backed into a corner on this one. She told Marina "Not Colin" (several times) and she tried to keep Marina's secret while telling Colin not to marry her. When the Whistledown outing Marina was published, Colin and Marina literally had suitcases in hand to run to Scotland. So yes, Pen stopped that marriage. But in the world of the show, Marina landed on her feet with her marriage to Sir Philip (see her "I am content" scenes in season 2), and Colin ended up happily with Penelope. So sure, Pen prevented a marriage that narratively was doomed from minute 1, but I don't think it's fair on any level to say that Lady Whistledown ruined Marina's life.
We can talk about Pen's motivations for outing Marina's pregnancy all we like (and I do think that was complicated, and a mix of selfish and selfless motivations. It's called being a complex character), but Marina's life was not ruined by Pen publishing that Lady Whistledown.
Possibly the most egregious example of Season 3 trying to reframe a Whistledown as the worst thing ever is when Penelope "ruined" Eloise in Season 2. Queen Charlotte had threatened Eloise and the ENTIRE Bridgerton family, and I think its fair enough to say that Eloise's best friend trying to take credit for Lady Whistledown given the royal threat wouldn't fly. Publishing Eloise's friendship with Theo pulled Eloise's and the Bridgerton's bacon out of the fire. And Eloise was FINE. She was at the next ball, wasn't unduly harassed there, and she came back the next season like nothing had happened. She was fine, and the family wasn't ruined BECAUSE that Lady Whistledown got published.
The interesting tension with Whistledown was when Pen was directly challenging the Queen. She was coming for the person who set the social norms and managed social attitudes in her level of society. That's FASCINATING, and Pen challenging the literal power that was directly and indirectly responsible for everyone being shitty to her and her family for two straight seasons is ENTIRELY valid and interesting. But then Season 3 happened.
Season 3 yelled with its whole chest that Penelope was bad and wrong and should be ashamed for saying mean things about people, and tweaked Queen Charlotte's brain so that that's what she cared about too, instead of caring that her authority was being publicly challenged. Like...I was here for seasons 1 and 2. Pen was deeply human in her motivations and deeply complex in what she did and did not publish. And season 3 flattened all of that to go "BE ASHAMED BECAUSE YOU SAID MEAN THINGS." I am always furious when nuance gets flattened, and this is a particularly egregious example of that. It tells us to think something that directly contradicts what the first two seasons showed us (which is shitty writing on two levels).
Then there was also the weird contradiction with the chess scene between Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte and the outing of Lady Whistledown. The chess scene was like "Keep the game going, it's more fun that way," and I genuinely thought that meant that we wouldn't get a Whistledown reveal because the GAME is the cat-and-mouse relationship between the crown and the column. Then we get the butterfly ball scene where Penelope is like, "Hey, can I keep writing? You can watch over my shoulder and make sure that I only say nice things about people." Which is UTTERLY BAFFLING because that's not the game. That's literally ending the game. There is no game if the dynamic goes from "two independent actors act and react to each each other to negotiate society and social norms" to "Penelope promises to be nice and Queen Charlotte gets to decide if she's doing that." That's not a game, that's a probationary period. It's also directly contradictory from a writing perspective, and I really don't have patience for writers directly contradicting themselves.
And the writing issues are most of why Season 3 was a fail for me. The acting was amazing, the vibes of some scenes were incredible, but the basic writing and narrative structure was a mess.

TUAP Prompt, but AU TUAP Prompt: Annabeth doesn't get pulled to the company for another few months, allowing her more time get to know her dance partner, Percy and his family. When she does start her apprenticeship, she does meet an interested Luke Castellan...
((you've heard of once upon a pointe. You've heard of twice upon a pointe. Now get ready for thrice upon a pointe or: how Annabeth's whole life could have been saved. They are their canon ages in this, both 16 at the start of the story, rather than Percy being a year younger than her.))
In the middle of September, Annabeth missed pas de deux class.
Percy and Annabeth had danced together for the first three weeks of the year, practicing until her weight and balance were completely familiar to him. And Percy had been right, he could make her laugh. Still, he tried to push any thoughts of a crush on her out of his mind; he didn’t have time for that, and she’d never be interested in him.
But he couldn’t help but look forward to every pas class.
“Percy, you’ll be with Rachel today,” the teacher told him. Rachel walked over to him.
“Where’s Annabeth?” He asked after class.
"She crunched her foot during petit allegro this morning," Rachel said.
"She's out?" Percy asked.
"Probably. Something tore. You could hear it across the room."
Percy shivered at the thought. He hoped she was okay.
The next day, Annabeth was sitting the back of the class, her foot in a boot. Being injured didn't give you an excuse to miss class. You still needed to sit there and watch. Percy had a minor foot injury last year that kept him out for three weeks. It had been hell. And he could see it on Annabeth face: she wasn't happy.
After class, Percy snuck to the back of the room.
"Hey," he said to her, picking up her bag as she maneuvered her crutches, "how are you doing?"
She shrugged. "Tore some ligaments," was he only answer.
"How long do they think ..."
"Over a month at least, but they don't think it needs surgery," she said.
"That's good!"
"Yeah," she agreed half halfheartedly as she started to hobble to their next class.
~
Annabeth was still stuck in her chair a month later. Chiron rolled into morning class and sat next to her. Annabeth's heart raced. He was always around the school, scoping out new apprentices, but she hadn't spent much time with him one-on-one. She tried to be casual, mature, professional.
"How long have you been out?" He asked her.
"A month," Annabeth said.
She could see the frustrated disappointment clear on Chiron's face.
"Well you rest up, okay?" He said. That was all he said to her. He sat and watched for a few more minutes, before leaving without another word to her.
The next day, word go around that four girls and one boy had been taken into the company for Nutcracker.
There was a spot at the top of a stairwell that purported to have roof access, but that door was always locked. So someone could sit at the top of the stairs on the landing and cry without anyone ever finding them. It was one of Annabeth's favorite spots.
Annabeth struggled up the stairs, grateful to finally sit down and sob when she reached the top. Chiron wanted to put her in the company, that's why he was interested in her injury. And she missed it. All because of her stupid, stupid foot.
She heard the door to the stairwell open, and she tried to quiet her crying while whoever it was made their way down the stairs. But the footsteps were coming up. She wiped her eyes, but she knew it was hopeless. If someone found her, there'd be no excuse for what she'd been doing except I was crying my eyes out and throwing a pity party.
A familiar mop of black hair came up the stairs, and Annabeth felt herself relax. Percy was nice, so much nicer than most of the boys she knew. When he said: "Annabeth? Are you alright?" She knew he really cared about the answer. And when she shook her head and started to cry again, he just sat next to her on the stair and gave her a hug.
When Annabeth was starting to feel all cried out, she pulled back.
"Thanks," she said, "I'm sorry, it's just," she gestured at her foot.
"That's gotta be tough," he said.
"I think Chiron wanted me for Nutcracker, but I can't do it," she said, tears starting again.
"It's alright," he said, taking her hand. "You're going to have so many Nutcrackers in your life."
"But what if I missed my chance completely?" She asked.
"I doubt it. You're the best dancer here," he said.
Annabeth smiled. "Thanks."
"Want to get pizza or something? I'm starving."
"Sure."
~
Percy bought her a few slices of pizza, and they both reveled in the chance to indulge like regular teenagers. Percy peeled back the paper from his straw, leaving most of the wrapper still on the other end. He put the straw to his mouth and blew, sending the paper sleeve right for Annabeth's face.
It landed in her blonde curls, and she laughed in disbelief. "Oh, it's on," she said, picking up her own straw. She managed to nail Percy right in the eye.
"Alright, uncle, uncle, you win," Percy conceded.
When they were done, he walked her back to her dorm. "Where's yours?" Annabeth asked.
"Oh, I'm from New York, I live a few blocks away with my family," he said.
"That's nice," she said.
"Where's your family?" He asked. Annabeth looked sad again.
"Well, they were in Virginia, where I grew up. But they're moving to San Fransisco over Winter break. They're so busy doing that that I'm not even going home. Kind of hoped I might have Nutcrackers to do, but ..."
"I'm sorry," Percy said, before pulling her into a hug.
"It's okay, I'll just go see Nutcracker one hundred times," she tried to joke, "and will my foot to heal."
"I believe in you," Percy said.
When he got home, he asked his mom about inviting a friend for Christmas.
"Would he stay over?" Sally asked.
"She," Percy clarified, "her name is Annabeth."
"Oh, would she stay over?"
"I don't know. She lives in the dorms. I don't know what kind of rules they have."
"Well, the more the merrier. She's always welcome, just let me know," Sally said.
Percy went back to his room and gave Annabeth a call. All of their text conversations has been pas de deux related and were over a month old. So calling her was strange.
"Percy?" He heard her voice on the other end. "What's up?"
"Hey, I hope this isn't weird. And you don't need to say yes or anything, but you mentioned staying in New York for Christmas. Would you ... want to spend it with my family? Instead of being stuck in the dorms?"
"... Really?" She sounded hopeful.
"Yeah, my mom said you're totally welcome. You could stay over on Christmas Eve if you're allowed to. Or my step-dad can pick you up. Whatever," he said, trying to sound casual about it all.
"Percy that really means so much to me," she sounded like she was going to cry again. "I would love to."
Percy waited for a "but," but there wasn't one. Percy strutted out into the living room and announced that Annabeth was coming for Christmas.
~
Pizza might have been a date. But taking her to the MoMA to see Starry Night had definitely been a date. She was still in her boot, but she was able to actually put weight on her foot now, so she could go around without crutches.
"That was so cool!" She said as they stepped out into the cold New York winter. There was a week left before break. Annabeth's dad had sent her presents to Percy's house, and Sally had even bought her Christmas pajamas to open on Christmas Eve with everyone else.
"Want to go see the tree?" Percy asked.
"The native New Yorker is willing to brave the tourists for me?" Annabeth asked. Percy shrugged; he'd maybe complained about tourists a little too much.
"Yeah," he said, stepping in front of her. "Hop on?"
She followed his lead and jumped on his back. He carried her the whole five minute walk to the tree.
~
Percy was nervous about something, she could tell. When they got to Rockefeller Center he kept leaning in, then pulling away, grabbing her hand, and then letting it go. Annabeth had a strong suspicious about what he was trying to get the courage to do.
"What's up?" She asked finally. He'd pulled her to a less crowded spot. It didn't have a great view of the tree, but it's rainbow lights were still visible behind him.
"I ... uh ... brought you over here to kiss you, and --"
Annabeth didn't let him finish before she leaned in and kissed him first. It was mostly just a peck, but when she pulled back they were both smiling like fools. She'd never kissed anyone before, but she was pretty sure it was perfect.
~
Annabeth started back at barre after Christmas break. She still had a few weeks of PT and retraining before she would be back in her pointe shoes, but she was determined not to let her chance in the company pass her by again.
Christmas had been completely perfect, and had included way more kissed from Percy. They were going out now. In between classes, they were attached at the hip.
After a few days in class, her ballet masters pulled her aside. Annabeth's heart raced, worried about whatever bad news they were about to give her.
"We want you to know," they started, "at the end of the year, you are going to get your apprenticeship." Annabeth's eyes went wide. That wasn't how they gave out apprenticeships in her experience. Students were told at the end of the year, usually all at once. Her heart beat faster now. "Don't tell anyone, but Chiron wanted you to know that he is taking you. So just ..." the ballet master gestured down towards her foot, "take it easy. Don't hurt yourself."
Annabeth nodded. "Can I tell my dad?" She asked.
The ballet master smiled. "Yes, of course."
~
Annabeth made it two weeks before she told Percy. "You can't tell anyone," she said.
He was hugging her so tight. "I won't, I promise! But once it's official, I'm going to tell everyone in New York."
"Goofball," she said.
"And proud of it!"
~
When Sally learned Annabeth would have to move out of the SAB dorms and into an apartment of her own, she asked: "Will you have a roommate? Another apprentice girl?"
Annabeth shook her head. "My dad is looking for a studio for me, close to the theater."
"You can't live alone in New York at your age," Sally said.
"I'll be alright," Annabeth promised.
Sally took her hand. "Let me talk to your dad, okay?"
"Sure," Annabeth said, giving Sally his phone number. Annabeth snuck into Percy's room while Sally called her dad. He loaded up Mario Kart, she got ready to kick his ass.
Sally was on the phone for a long time, nearly an hour. Finally, there was a knock on Percy's door, a quick come in confirmation, and then Sally was handing Annabeth the phone. Percy paused the game, and she could hear her dad's voice on the other end, still saying things like "I really appreciate it, thank you."
"Hi Daddy," she said.
"Annie! I talked to Ms. Jackson, she's so nice. She's your boyfriend's mom?"
"Yeah," Annabeth said.
"We agree that you living alone is risky. She's offered to let you stay at her place."
Annabeth looked at Percy, who had is ear close to the phone to hear. "Really?" Annabeth said, excitedly grabbing Percy's knee.
"They are your host family. So you'll have to live there even if you and Percy break up, okay? You won't be in your boyfriend's room either. And there will be rules."
"Okay, okay," Annabeth said.
"But I think this is for the best, if you're comfortable with it."
"I am," she promised.
~
Annabeth's contract didn't start until the Fall, but she moved out of the dorm at the end of the year. She and Percy were doing the SAB summer program together, and in between, they were helping Sally and Paul rearrange the apartment. Annabeth was staying with Estelle, Percy's adorable two-year-old sister, but that meant Percy had to give up his bigger room for Estelle and Annabeth to share. There was a lot of stuff to move.
Fall season was already a dream. Annabeth lived for performing, far preferring long rehearsal days to days in class at SAB. She was in the corps of so many great ballets, and Chiron even had her learning soloist roles as a backup already. Two weeks in and she was giddy.
"Are you one of our new apprentices?" A blonde man asked her one day. They were rehearsing Walpurgisnacht, and he was the principal man in the ballet.
"I am," she said. "Annabeth," she held out her hand.
"Luke," he said. After rehearsal, he introduced her to a few people, and gave her his phone number in case she ever needed anything.
When she texted him to make sure he had her number in return, he rested a hand on her shoulder. "You're doing a great job," he said. The leotard she was wearing had spaghetti straps, so his hand was against her bare skin, his thumb rubbing gentle circle.
Annabeth pulled away. "Thanks," she said. "But I should go. I have Stars and Stripes." Luke gave her a mock salute, and Annabeth took off down the hall. That was odd.
~
When Annabeth got home, she and Percy did a second shift of ballet. He told her the things she'd missed in class. She'd never made it to the highest level at SAB, where he was now, so there were still things she had to figure out on her own. But he was able to help her. And she told him things she'd learned in company rehearsals. There were so many little details, tips and tricks they didn't get in the classroom.
Annabeth had watched the Walpurgisnacht pas de deux so many times that day that she and Percy were able to piece together the choreography themselves, practicing in the small ballet studio Paul and Sally had made for Percy (and now Annabeth) in the living room.
On the kitchen table, Annabeth's phone kept buzzing.
"Sweetheart," Sally called, "someone really wants your attention."
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Ugh, it's just some guy from the company. He keeps trying to talk to me. I told him I have a boyfriend," she said. Percy kissed the side of her head.
"A company guy?" Sally asked. "Another apprentice?"
Annabeth shook her head. "No, he's a principal. He just got promoted."
"A principal," Sally asked, horror clear in her voice. "What does he want from you?"
"Who knows," Annabeth shrugged.
Sally handed her the phone. "You don't need to show me, but ... could I see what he's sending you?"
Sally seemed genuinely concerned, so Annabeth unlocked the phone and handed it to her. "You should stay away from him," Sally told her.
"Trust me, I'm trying," Annabeth said.
"If he's making you uncomfortable, you should tell Chiron, or one of the ballet masters," Percy suggested.
Annabeth nodded. "That's a good idea."
Sally was typing something. She handed the phone back to Annabeth before she hit send: This is Annabeth's guardian in New York. She is seventeen. Please leave her alone.
Annabeth hit send. Luke didn't bother her any more after that.
~
An apprentice's first Nutcracker was meant to be 46 shoes of Snow and Flowers. And Annabeth was ready to do that. But, a few weeks into rehearsal, Chase started to show up in Dew Drop and Sugar Plum rehearsal spaces.
"What does that mean?" She asked Charles Beckendorf. He had a few months on her in the company; he was pulled in last Nutcracker season while she was injured. Chiron had rehearsed them as partners in a few things in the Fall. They never did any of them on stage, but she liked him. He was nice, and they were solid dance partners.
"It means you're learning some Principal roles," he said with a smile.
"Oh my god," Annabeth said.
It was one thing to be a back up during the season when plenty of Principals and Soloists were around. Nutcracker was another thing entirely. It was all hands on deck, and dancers dropped like flies.
She didn't need to learn the choreography. She'd watched the PBS recording of Nutcracker so many times in her life she could dance it in her sleep. And Lee Fletcher was a really experienced partner. ("And how old is this one?" Sally asked. "Twenty-nine, but he's gay, and just really nice, I think.")
They hadn't rehearsed it much. Annabeth didn't expect to actually go on, but --
"Annabeth we need you for Sugarplum tomorrow afternoon," Chiron said. She was still in the big Flower skirt, having just bowed after the night's show.
"What?!" Annabeth said.
"Head to costumes first thing tomorrow morning to get situated. You'll have one more rehearsal with Lee, and then go on at two," he said. "You're going to be fine," he promised. She could see his total trust in her written on his face. Annabeth nodded. She had this.
Chiron was able to find a four extra tickets for that show, totally comped, so the Jackson-Blofis family could be there. Annabeth swore she could hear Percy's cheers the loudest when she stepped out.
"If you forget the steps, just make it up," Lee said, comforting her before she took to the stage. "If you forget them in the pas, make it up, and I'll follow you."
But she hadn't forgotten it. She'd been just about perfect.
"Amazing, my dear," Chiron said to her when it was over. "Can you bring the costume back downstairs? We need you on for Snow and Flowers tonight." Annabeth smiled and nodded.
~
She didn't get home until eleven. Paul picked her up from the theater, and gave her a big hug. "We're so proud of you. Don't tell anyone, but I got a video of it. I sent it to your dad. He's devastated he couldn't be here."
"I'll call him tomorrow," Annabeth promised. "Thanks Paul."
There was a short, quiet celebration. Sally and Paul promised something bigger once Nutcracker season was actually over. Annabeth just smiled the whole time.
Annabeth was feeling a little brave. Once everyone was asleep, she snuck out of her room and into Percy's. He was still awake too. She wasn't exactly sure what she was planning. They'd done plenty of stuff before, but never ... but she knew Sally kept condoms in his drawer. And Annabeth had started birth control that Fall to keep her periods light and regular now that she was a professional.
It didn't last long. But it didn't hurt either. She didn't bleed -- weren't you supposed to bleed? she thought. It felt right. When it was over, they were both so tired, especially her, that all they could manage was to fall asleep wrapped up in each other.
Sally caught her leaving his room early the next morning, but she didn't say anything about Annabeth breaking her rules. Sally just rolled her eyes and smiled.
~
In the Winter, Annabeth and Beckendorf were cast to do the Romeo and Juliet Balcony Scene. First cast. Annabeth beamed, even as other company girls gave her the stink eye. But they couldn't deny that her reviews were immaculate.
~
In the Spring, Chiron called Percy in for his meeting. Percy sat nervously, but Chiron and his ballet masters just gave him some things to work on. They told him his partnering skills had really improved, but still needed some work. Percy didn't tell them he'd improved so much because Annabeth was teaching him choreography at night. They also told him that he could be a little more confident. Use his length more. His jumps were good, but work on hitting fifth when you land. And that was it. No word of auditions or apprenticiships. They asked him to do the summer course again, but nothing else.
He told Annabeth the conversation beat by beat, still dazed, but she was smiling.
"They didn't tell you to audition anywhere else?" She asked.
"No," he said.
"Did they ask you to do another year at the school?"
"Just the summer course."
"Percy ..."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
One of these days, he'd learn that his girlfriend was literally never wrong. Four days later, he was one of the group of eight of students, six girls, two boys, to be brought into a studio and told they'd been chosen as apprentices for the New York City Ballet.
As happy as she was for him, Annabeth could help but say "I told you so!" first thing.

simmer (nick x luke)
for @jessieluvsoranges sorry this took so long i hope you like it!! perhaps not as fluffy as you might have had in mind haha but apparently i'm allergic to writing fluff so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
also on my ao3
Footsteps sound behind Nick in the dark, and his mouth twists down into an angry scowl. “I told you to leave me the hell alone, Uncle Pete.”
“I know,” Luke’s voice says softly, and Nick turns in surprise, shoulders de-tensing just a little at the realization. “But I figured maybe you were hungry.”
“Sorry,” Nick apologizes. “Thought you were…” He trails off, staring at the dry heel of brown bread and the mushy apple in Luke’s hands. “What the hell’s all this?”
Luke grimaces. “All I could manage to filch from dinner. Got somethin' for Diane, too. She’s eating it now.”
Nick ignores the offered food and returns to gazing moodily out of his and Luke’s cell bedroom window. “I’m gonna kill him.”
He hears Luke sink down on the creaky bottom bunk behind him. “You can’t kill him,” says Luke, ever the minuscule angel perched atop Nick’s shoulder, a little nagging sometimes. “You know that.”
“Well, I wish I could do something, ” says Nick angrily. He can still hear the sharp smack of Carver’s backhand across his mother’s face. He can barely feel his own swelling eye and stinging cheekbone, not through all the rage bubbling up inside him. Of course it wouldn’t be enough to just hit them, of course the fucker had to take away his mom’s dinner, too.
And Nick’s own meal, as well, but that doesn’t seem to matter as much.
“Carlos and Alvin think soon,” Luke tells him, voice rising to barely above a whisper. “Pete, Reggie, and Rebecca agree. Not that much longer, buddy, then we’ll get out of here. Just - Just keep holdin’ on. Just a little bit longer.”
Nick screws his eyes shut, frustrated. “I know,” he grumbles. “I know. God, this whole thing is just - it’s just so fucked! ”
“ Sssh! ” Luke hisses. His eyes dart fervently to their door’s open window. “Keep your voice down, man! Don’t be an idiot.”
“Sorry,” mutters Nick after a moment, shaking his head. He can barely keep the angry tremors out of his voice. “Don’t need him coming back here and blacking your eyes up, too.” His blood simmers steadily with hate. “What an asshole. ”
“We’re so close, ” Luke reminds him, voice sounding kinda desperate. “So close, Nick. And once we’re outta here, no one’s gonna lay a finger on you or Diane ever again. I’ll make sure of it.”
Every time he hears Luke say his name, Nick feels chills rippling up and down his fool’s backbone. He swallows, hard, and whispers, “You don’t know that, man.”
“Well, I’m gonna try to make it that way,” says Luke with conviction. He nods at the measly dinner set out on the rickety bedside table before him. “Go on then.”
Nick turns. Luke’s eyes are boring into his own, fervent and convincing (he’s so certain ), and Nick’s cheekbone throbs and he fists his hand into the collar of Luke’s shirt, white-knuckled, and kisses him.
Luke starts to return the sentiment, lips moving against lips, but just as quickly he pulls away. “We - We said we weren’t gonna do this anymore. You said we couldn’t do this no more.”
“Forget what I said,” Nick mutters back to him, aching to feel Luke’s tongue press into his own. “Just forget it, Luke, kiss me…”
“This is a bad idea,” Luke whispers, but he kisses him all the same. “Dammit…”
He never knew he wanted this, not really, not ‘til now. Nick’s not good with feelings and all that lovey-dovey crap. The stuff before, that had been stress relief. A way to find some little moment of somethin’ nice in the middle of all the shit. Eventually, he’d put a stop to it because Pete was startin’ to look at them funny. But now Nick realizes that maybe the real reason he tried to end it’s because he was getting more invested in what he and Luke were doing than he knew how to be comfortable with.
Is he even comfortable now? No…and yes, definitely at the same time. He can’t really tell. This is what he’s always wanted - this is what was never supposed to happen - and, Lord help him, Nick can’t fucking stop, he couldn’t even if he wanted to. He’s been looking and looking at Luke his whole life long and it’s only just now he’s picking up on what all those looks have really meant.
Uncle Pete would probably roll his eyes and say Told ya so, like he always has when Nick inevitably fucks up for the millionth time, even though he didn’t tell Nick nothing about this. Where the hell was the warning for any of it?
Life don't come with warnings anymore. Not these days.
Luke pulls away. He tips his head down to bury his nose at the junction of Nick’s shoulder and his neck. His lips flutter there, breathy, in and back out again.
I love you, Nick feels him mouth into his skin.
And Nick swallows, stomach growling with hunger as he glances over at his dinner, and he says to Luke,
“I know.”

What Lurks Within, Pt. 6
Author's Note: I SWEAR all this is going to culminate into the plot twist of a lifetime (I'm sure some of you know what's coming already). I hope you're enjoying how descriptive these chapters are, though. :)
Content: When the media learns of another victim in the Denver case before the BAU, more questions about the legitimacy of the department and its employees come to fruition. One employee, the police chief, remains intent on keeping the BAU as far from the case as possible. The team discovers some (figurative) skeletons in his closet, which makes them all the more suspicious.
Warnings: Spencer x fem!reader, established relationship, hom!c!de, workplace conflict, mentions of drug dealing and drug use, brief mention of prison, mentions of domestic abuse, and mentions of violence resulting in hospitalization
Tumblr media
The conference room got quiet once again. “Well,” Luke said, “we should still figure out who altered Whittendon’s files.” “That would be a major lead,” Rossi agreed.
“I guess that means we should get to work again,” Luke said, taking a sip of coffee before scooting up to the table. Mumbles of agreement went up around the table.
JJ spoke up, “We should continue working on geographical profiles, too. If we can get an area narrowed down, we might be able to find his hideout before we even know who he is.”
Luke nodded, acknowledging her statement. “Garcia sent more information about Graydon’s family to our tablets. Does anyone want to volunteer to team up and deep dive that information while the rest of us keep working on geo-profiles?”
I shrugged, “I can do it. I’ve never been one for the geos, anyway.”
Spencer spoke, “I can join you.”
I scoffed, shaking my head. “Spencer, you’re the best geo-profiler we have. I’d encourage anyone else to volunteer so that brainiac can work on the maps.” I played with the hem of my skirt as the rubbing of the fabric irritated the mild burn below. Spencer eyed my hands, noting my discomfort.
“I’ll work with you,” Matt offered. I smiled at him, standing to go sit next to him. Spencer seemed faintly hurt by my denial of his offer, but surely he’d understood. As I sat next to Matt, I offered him a sympathetic smile. JJ stood from her chair next, “I’ll work with Spence on the geographical profiles. What are you two going to do?” She looked at Rossi and Luke, who had yet to move from the table.
“I guess we’ll-” Luke began to speak as Emily burst into the room, cutting him off. “Whittendon just called me from his car. An eleventh victim has been found,” she said, holding open the conference room door and gesturing for us to come into the main office. As we all rose and filed out into the bullpen, I noticed televisions running on either side of the room.
A reporter’s voice rang through the office: Another body has been found in the Denver area today after ten other victims were left scattered throughout parks in the city. This victim, 38 year-old Colton Bayard, was left beaten and slashed in Williams Park, ten miles from where last night’s victim was found in Ashwood Park.”
“How did the news channel get all that information before we did?” I asked.
Spencer shook his head. “There’s a leak in this office.”
Almost in response, the door to the precinct burst open and Detective Whittendon stormed in the room. I watched as he went behind the secretary’s desk, shooed her out of her chair, and used it to step up onto her desk. “Ladies and gentlemen,” Whittendon shouted into the office, drawing everyone’s attention away from the television to the man standing on the front desk, “this office is officially on lockdown until I find out who is fucking with my investigation.” Murmurs went up around the office as the thirty employees crowded in the main room exchanged nervous glances. Richie’s meek voice spoke from the crowd of employees surrounding the television. “What does that mean, sir?” he asked. “That means,” Whittendon said, “nobody is leaving until I have a prime suspect in the interrogation room.”
Hollers of “you can’t do that” and “get out of here” were heard from around the office. Whittendon stomped his foot on the desk. “I said what I said. If anyone tries to leave this office without consulting with me first, you will be detained for obstructing a criminal investigation.” With that, the detective climbed down from the office desk and planted an empty chair firmly at the precinct’s entrance, plopping himself down in the seat and folding his arms. “Oh my,” Emily said. Suddenly, a door on the far side of the room swung open. A burly man with a shaved head and dark eyes stumbled out into the main office. The employees got silent.
“What the hell are you doing, Ryan?” The man’s gruff voice permeated the silence. Whittendon looked over at the man, a forming scoff visible on his lips.
“Who is that?” I murmured to our group. Emily turned to utter a response when Whittendon spoke again, rising from his chair.
The detective approached the larger man, standing nearly chest to chest with him. “Chief, with all due respect, I’m running this office the way somebody should have been from the start of this investigation.”
“Nevermind.” I whispered, intrigued to see how this argument might play out.
The burly man shook his head and looked at the office ceiling. “God help me,” he murmured. “Ryan, you have no authority to force these people to stay here.”
“You’re right, I don’t. But you do. You should’ve been handling a department lockdown since Agent Prentiss discovered someone was dicking with my files.” Whittendon waved a frustrated hand towards Emily who stood at the front of our team. She raised her eyebrows when the police chief turned to look at her, shrugging as if to say ‘he isn’t wrong.’
The police chief sighed, “Ryan, you’re being irrational. These FBI-ers just got here this morning, and you’re letting them turn this department into an episode of NCIS. Nobody in here is sabotaging your investigation but yourself.”
I couldn’t help but tilt my head at the statement. Semi-shocked expressions flickered across the team’s faces as we all took the statement as a personal dig. I turned to Spencer, who stood close behind me. He looked down at me, eyebrows raised, hand fidgeting in his pocket as he tried to decipher the motives of each man in the argument before us.
An exasperated groan drew my attention back to the two men. “You can’t be serious,” Whittendon shouted. “Listen, Chief. I’ve tried to be respectful. I’ve done my best and I’ve stayed in line. It’s time for somebody to take action here. That’s why I called the BAU in to begin with.” Graydon wasn’t even the one to invite us in? Interesting.
“Look, Ryan. Cool it. Go to your crime scene and do detective work. It’s time to stop with the theatrics,” the chief looked at us before turning back to Whittendon, “and start solving problems. If you can’t do it, I’ll put Andrews on the case.” With that, the police chief turned from Whittendon, offering us a small and insincere nod before walking back into his office, slamming the door behind him.
Whittendon ran a hand over his face, sitting back down in the office chair he had placed by the precinct door. Emily approached him cautiously. “Is he always such a joy?” she asked.
The detective let out a sour laugh. “I’ve never really loved his leadership style, but I’ve also never had this much of a problem with him until now.” He leaned back, anxiously running his hands over his shirt and straightening his tie. “The whole desk bit… that was a bit embarrassing, in hindsight”
Emily smiled thoughtfully. “We all do things we’re not proud of when we’re stressed,” she said gently. Whittendon frowned, blankly staring at a wall across the room. “Have you been to the newest crime scene yet?” The detective snapped back to reality with a shake of his head.
“No. That’s why I don’t understand why the news teams knew about it before I did. It makes everything so much harder…” he trailed off, running a hand over his face in frustration once more.
“Why don’t you and I go check it out together?” she offered. I felt Luke push his way towards the front of our group which was still gathered by the conference room door.
“Boss, if you don’t mind, I think I’d like to come along.” Luke said. He reached a hand out to Whittendon, offering him the formal introduction he hadn’t at the diner. “Agent Luke Alvez.” Whittendon shook his hand in response, slowly rising from the chair. Emily turned back to our group. “Dave, can you handle things here?” Rossi gave her a thumbs up and she nodded in response. Whittendon opened the precinct door allowing Emily and Luke to lead the way before following behind him.
“Well,” Rossi spoke first, “since that’s over, where were we?”
“Right,” I said. “Matt, we’re on the Graydon files. JJ and Spencer are on geos.” I turned to the conference room, returning to my initial seat. Matt and I opened our tablets, eager to begin wading through files as Spencer and JJ turned their attention to a large map in the corner of the room.
“Alright,” Matt said, “how do you want to do this?” I paused for a moment, leaning back in my chair and squinting in thought.
A simple solution hit me as I opened Garcia’s email. “Well, Graydon’s got two children. By the looks of this email, Garcia found dirt on both of them. You look into his daughter, I’ll look into his son.”
Matt nodded. “Sounds good, boss.” “Well, I have been here longer than you,” I mumbled playfully. Matt smiled before turning his attention to the files in front of him.
I opened up the email attachment labeled “Phillip_Graydon.pdf” and watched as at least a hundred pages loaded on my tablet screen. “Garcia’s been busy,” I said.
Matt exhaled in agreement. I could see him flipping through a similar number of pages. “So have the Graydon kids, by the look of it. His daughter, Mira, was arrested last year for dealing heroin.”
I winced a bit. “How old is she?” I asked.
Matt shook his head in disbelief, “Only twenty.” He continued scanning the files, I watched as he opened a link attached to one, which opened a personal Facebook page. Scooting closer to him, I could see the lack of information on Mira’s page.
Her profile photo of a healthy, smiling teen had to be at least five years old compared to the latest mugshot attached to her file. Matt pulled up her mugshot next to her profile picture to compare. “She’s barely recognizable.” Her hair had thinned, her eyes were heavy with dark bags, and her teeth were more jagged.
“She’s had to have been struggling for awhile,” I said. “I wonder if the Graydons have tried to get her help.” Matt returned to the initial pdf and scrolled through pages once more.
“They must have once. Here’s her paperwork from an inpatient rehab facility.” He zoomed in on the file, scanning the paperwork.
“How old was she when she went?” I asked.
He looked up, running the numbers in his head. “Seventeen.”
“So, she’s been living this way for a while.” I said. Matt nodded.
“She didn’t stay at the facility long. When she turned eighteen she checked herself out. Besides her occasional arrests, it looks like she’s become a ghost,” he added.
“What about the son?” he wondered aloud, leaning towards me and peering at my tablet which I had discarded on the conference room table. I picked it up once again, scrolling and scanning.
“Nothing here really seems out of character for a young boy,” I said. “Underaged alcohol consumption when he was sixteen… a couple run-ins with the law for trespassing…” I continued to scan the documents. A particular paper caught my eye. “Wait,” I said, “I might have something here.”
I scanned the file once more before speaking. “It says here that Phillip was hospitalized on five separate occasions,” I said aloud.
Matt raised an eyebrow and tilted his head in curiosity. He leaned in again, trying to examine the page. “Does it say why?”  he asked.
I scrolled through the paperwork, looking for his reason for admission. “At age five, he was hospitalized for a broken arm… At age seven, he was hospitalized again for a broken foot.”
Matt shrugged, “Take it from someone who has five kids, they’re always getting themselves into those kinds of crazy situations.”
I shook my head. “No, listen,” I mumbled, deep in thought as I drew his attention back to the file. “He was brought in for numerous, ‘suspicious’ burns at age eleven.” I emphasized the word with air quotes. Matt raised an eyebrow. “I’m not finished. At age fourteen, he was brought in for two broken fingers. When the doctor asked his mother how it happened, she said he fell down the stairs.”
“Jesus,” Matt whispered.
“Most recently, at age seventeen, he was brought in for pain while breathing. When he was examined, the report says they discovered bruising on both sides of his neck. He had at least two broken ribs that doctors thought were caused by a blunt object. This says the hospital informed child services this time, but-” I shook my head as Matt finished my thought for me.
“Let me guess, he turned eighteen and moved out immediately.” I nodded quickly and Matt shook his head. “Who brought him to the hospital on those occasions?” he asked.
I looked up at him, “The mother, of course.” I looked at the picture of the young man attached to the file. It was a school picture. The smile was forced, the hair too evenly combed, and the boy wore a turtleneck that nearly covered his ears. How could nobody have seen this?
“So Graydon’s not only an abusive spouse, but an abusive father,” Matt stated.
I set my tablet on the table, tapping my fingers against the cool wood surface. “How could he have gotten away with all of these things for so long?” I asked.
“Chief Graydon’s got connections most people don’t,” Matt said. I nodded. It all made sense to me. “Where’s Phillip at now?” Matt asked.
I scrolled to the end of the document, looking for a final address to find none listed. “That’s odd. Garcia didn’t list an address for him.”
“If he moved out as soon as he turned eighteen in an attempt to escape his father’s abuse, he may not have had any money to get a place. Phillip could have seen homelessness as a better alternative than staying in that house.” I hummed in agreement as Matt closed his tablet and rested it on the table next to mine.
“Where do we go from here?” I asked.
Matt pondered for a moment. He took a deep breath and rolled his neck. “We should let Emily know about all of this when she gets back,” I nodded. “Until then,” he added, “you should call Garcia and tell her to get in contact with local homeless shelters. Have her ask if anyone’s seen a boy matching Phillip’s description.”
I rose from my chair and walked to the corner of the conference room, allowing myself distance from Spencer and JJ as they talked in hushed voices over the map on the wall. My phone rang twice before a voice sung out over the other line, “Well, hello, young one. I haven’t heard from you in awhile!”
I giggled quietly, using my hand to stifle my laugh. Penelope and I had developed quite the friendship during my short time with the team. We both loved fun clothing, cute knick knacks, and we really loved nights out. When Spencer was in prison, she had been my rock through the whole thing. It was a friendship match made in heaven.
I snapped back to reality and tried to think of a witty response. “You know how things are, Pen. People commit murder, we have to go save the world, yada yada.” A small crossed my face again.
I could feel her eyes rolling on the other end of the phone. “Have you ever heard that pride cometh before a fall?” she asked playfully.
“Something like that, which is why I’m humble enough to know when I need the help of a computer wizard like you.” I responded.
She gasped. “Well in that case, your wish is my command. What do you need?”
“Matt wanted me to ask if you’d be willing to make some calls to local homeless shelters. Offer them Phillip Graydon’s description and see if they’ve recently encountered anyone fitting the type.”
“Uh-huh,” she said. I could hear her typing on her keyboard through the phone. “Anything else?” she asked.
“No ma’am,” I answered. “Thanks, Pen. I don’t know what we’d do without you.”
“Awh,” she said, “I don’t know what you’d do without me either.” With that, her end of the line went dead. I couldn’t help but smile at her confidence and well-timed sarcasm.
I walked back to where Matt still sat at the table, examining the progress the other duo were making on the geographical profile. “Are you two getting anywhere?” Matt asked.
Spencer stepped back from the map, examining it in full view. “If you squint, I think there’s a pattern to be seen,” he said, tilting his head to the side. “Considering where the last victim was found, I think we can deduce his hide-out is somewhere in this area.” He pointed to an area between the recent dump sites.
JJ sighed, “That’s not a lot to go on, Spence. That’s about seventeen neighborhoods.” Spencer winced a bit at the statistic, and nodded in somber recognition of the odds.
“It is, but it’s a start,” I said, trying to offer some encouragement. “That’s more than we knew before. Good job, you two.” I put on a big smile, offering them a genuine thumbs-up. Spencer walked over to my side of the table, offering me a quick kiss on the head.
JJ smiled. “Thanks, Y/N. What did you guys find out?”
“We think Graydon’s been abusing his wife and kids for two decades. His daughter’s been in and out of jail and his son is likely bouncing around homeless shelters. I have no idea how it could be connected to what’s happening in this office, but Matt and I both think it’s something we should look into.” I looked to Matt, who nodded in agreement.
She shrugged, “If you two think it’s worth looking into, then so do I. I know Emily’s not here, but if you let Rossi know what you’ve found, he might let you get a hold of Graydon’s wife for an interview.”
Matt rose from the table. “I think that sounds like a good plan. Come on, Y/N, let’s go find Rossi.”
To be continued...

los fans del Team Green se esfuerzan tanto por victimizar a Aemond y justificar la muerte de Luke, para luego llorar por la muerte de jaehaerys.
What's funny is that it's the same people who cry if someone says that everything that happens to Team Green is deserved. Maybe don't threaten someone with giving them to your dragon, and don't hold a stone over someone's head while they're on the ground if you don't want to get your eye taken out.
That's what I said before.
The TG never stopped mocking Lucerys' death or justifying it by saying that Aemond was right and that Lucerys deserved it.
Seriously, wtf ?
Some go so far as to say that it's Rhaenyra's fault that Luke died because she sent him as a messenger... when messengers are in fact normally protected and shouldn't be fucking killed, so this excuse should be thrown in the trash too.
The TG has a hard time accepting that apart from greed for power and misogyny, the greens have no reason to do what they do.
Except that in HOTD you can also add stupidity, because if Aemond did what he did while seriously thinking that there was 0 risk of it going wrong, he is really very stupid. Like Alicent way who thought that a usurpation would take place without problem, in addition to his very misplaced paranoia, in short.
Like I said, TG is just gross compared to Lucerys' death.
On the other hand, I've never seen anyone from TB say that Blood and Cheese was funny or that Daemon was right to do what he did.
Absolutely not.
We all agree that the death of a child is always tragic. He was an innocent child who didn't do or ask for anything. But so was Lucerys.
In the TB, we simply accept Blood and Cheese for what it is supposed to be in the story, namely a revenge of the Blacks, karmic for the Greens who finally receive their first real punishment after all the evil they have done so free.
Especially since it is a revenge that appeals to fairness. A son for a son. No more no less.
Somehow, even through vile revenge, Daemon remains more dignified than the Greens. Simply because Daemon never kills someone for free. There is always a specific objective in general.
And no I will not comment on the adaptation of Blood and Cheese. That's for another post.

Long time no talk hello cc i had a shower thought.
If for some dumb reason if cerberus were to bite mc i made a list of most violent reactions to least violent i wanna know if you agree
Lucifer
Diavolo
Barbatos
Satan
Levi
Beel
Belphie
Mammon
Solomon
Asmo
Simone
Luke
Do you agree??? If no whats your list???
Ohhh hello 🪱 anon!
What an interesting scenario. I can't imagine Cerberus actually ever biting MC... just because I'm more inclined to imagine Cerberus loving MC as much everyone else does lol.
My list kinda depends on the definition of violent. Would they have a big reaction or would they straight up go Cruella De Vil and turn Cerbie into a coat?
I'm kinda back and forth about Lucifer. I'm pretty sure Lucifer loves Cerberus, but he also loves MC. And I don't think Lucifer would react very well to his dog doing something like that. You know, like he probably trained Cerberus himself. So I do think he'd be pissed at any rate.
I see Diavolo just getting MC out of there and keeping them at the castle for a while. I think he'd be like hey Lucifer take care of your dog and leave things to Lucifer for that part of it. He's gonna keep MC with him until they're fully healed.
Barbatos would be able to subdue Cerberus with a look, I'm fairly certain. He'd be angry, but I don't think he'd lose his cool enough to do anything other than nurse MC back to health. I see him also sorta leaving the Cerberus side of things to Luci.
I'm not so sure about Satan. He's a little more uhhhh well violent in general lol. Because I could totally see him getting pissed about this, too, but like he's more prone to losing his shit. Even still I think his priority would be MC.
I think Levi would be farther down on the list 'cause he does not strike me as the kinda demon to stand up to big scary three headed dogs. He'd be upset about the situation, no doubt, but I think he'd be too busy flailing over MC to do much. He might do that thing where he snaps and summons Lotan, though. In which case everybody's just gonna hafta go for a swim.
Beel is tricky because I don't see him as violent. To me he's such a big sweetheart, I see him doing something more like getting in the way and ending up getting bitten himself in an attempt to protect MC. Carries MC to safety as fast as he can.
Belphie... well... man I dunno. He can't exactly choke out a dog, can he? He's violent but in a quieter way than I think would be needed for something Cerbie's size lol. I think he'd be more likely to distract Cerberus with something so he can get MC outta there.
Mammon is known for being a bit of a scaredy cat, but I think it's more about horror than big dogs. That being said, he's also known for running fast, so I think he's in a good spot on the list. He'd just pick up MC and book it out of there. Yell at Lucifer about his dog later.
Solomon is interesting because I really think the "violence" definition comes into play here. Violent as in "dramatic reaction?" Put my man at the top of the list. Violent as in "physically attack?" No, he's about right where he is. Solomon would be extremely upset about this situation, but he'd take care of it with magic.
I think Asmo would use his charm on Cerbie. It obviously works on animals, so that'd be easy enough. Charms the heck out of Luci's dog so he can remove MC from the situation. And I see him being calm about it, too, just taking care of things because MC's safety is on the line and he's not messing around with that.
For some reason, I have this vision of Simeon calming the raging beast with a gentle touch lol. Is it because he's an angel or is it just because he's beautiful? Perhaps both. Either way, he's probably in the right spot.
Luke, my darling precious son, I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure he'd get eaten. I think he'd try to protect MC and stand between them and Cerberus. But he's probably just the right size to be gulped down in a single bite.
Oops this got a little lengthy lol. Anyway, those are just my general thoughts on it! But man, I kinda feel bad for Cerberus in this scenario because you know nobody is gonna be okay with him biting MC.

It's funny when these people pretend to like book! Rhaenyra, and when they explain why they like her, they basically describe her in the same way that people who hate her do.
Yeah I've got manyyyy issues with people like op. Like you said, the way they describe Rhaenyra is...telling. As is how they describe Alicent.
First of all: op claims that Alicent tried to "mend the relationship" between Rhaenyra and Aegon. That's just false. Alicent proposed Viserys marry Aegon to Rhaenyra, in an attempt to get Aegon closer to the throne. Which is partially why Viserys refused to approve the match.
Op is engaging in a lot of speculation, like the claim that "Daemon manipulated Rhaenyra" into hating her siblings. There's literally no evidence that Rhaenyra hates her siblings prior to Luke's murder. Is she close to them? Not her brothers, no, but she did have some kind of relationship with Helaena, as is implied by her calling her "my sweet sister, Helaena."
I'm not going to go into how op sees Daemon, but I will say, how they view him and Rhaenyra is basically just how Hess does. Rhaenyra isn't allowed to form her own opinions on her family, negative or otherwise, and Daemon is an evil monster.
I will agree with op that Rhaenyra isn't a good person, however, that's the only time. The things op accuses Rhaenyra of are...really not true other than the fact that she fed Vaemond to Syrax.
They accuse her of "offering her brothers for Laenor...she hosted a lavish feast in a starving city, she was a woman and let the men do the fighting."
Let's unpack that. The quote op is referring to concerning Laenor is:
"My half-brothers would be more to his taste," [Rhaenyra] told the king.
Fire & Blood: Heirs of the Dragon - A Question of Succession
This is taken out of context in the worst possible way by op. Rhaenyra is arguing with her father about marrying Laenor, trying to convince him not to force her to marry him. She's referencing the fact that Laenor is gay, she's in no way "offering" her brothers to him. This is an intentional choice to interpret Rhaenyra's choices as they're written in the worst possible light.
Op continues this with a very tired argument many Rhaenyra antis use: that Rhaenyra feasted in KL. The only evidence of this happening is from Septon Eustace. A man who wasn't even in KL, was noted by the writers of F&B to be unreliable due to his hatred of Rhaenyra, and who literally crowned Aegon. So, using critical thinking, we can infere that the idea that Rhaenyra feasted in KL is extremely unlikely.
As for the fighting, yes Rhaenyra didn't fight. That was due to the fact that she had no training and was recovering from a traumatic miscarriage. Normally I wouldn't point this out as an issue, but op groups it in with Rhaenyra's "flaws". Somehow, Rhaenyra not fighting in battles is a mark against her as a person. Again, intentionally a bad faith interpretation.
No, I agree with op that HOTD's changes to Rhaenyra are shitty, but the reasons are just very off. For example:
Tumblr media
I agree with parts of this, but I do want to point out a few things. Such as, why are they calling out Arya fans? Like what does that have to do with anything? I'm sure it's because Arya is a non-conforming woman, which op isn't a fan of, considering their seeming obsession with femininity. It shows how op's personal biases are influencing their view of both the show and the book.
I'm right there with you anon on the their spiel about Aegon's birthday. Rhaenyra was being disrespected and undermined by everyone after the birth of her brother. Is it any wonder that she wasn't excited to go to an event where everyone was expecting her to be disinherited? Op literally was just saying how they loved Rhaenyra "hating" her siblings lmao.
Op also complains about the white hart incident, as well as Aegon's prophecy. This is very much a revealing complaint. They said they hate Rhaenyra being made into the "protagonist" of the show. This is interesting since Rhaenyra is the protagonist of the Dance in the book too. She's morally gray, but it's still a fact; the greens are the antagonists and the blacks are the protagonists. The white hart was confirmation of Rhaenyra being the true heir, something which is also true in the book. I don't understand how that fact being affirmed is wrong.
As for Aegon's prophecy, this is something almost every single Rhaenyra anti has complained about. This is something GRRM himself told the showrunners he wanted, which some people complain is a retcon. It's not, the books aren't done yet, this is GRRM giving us new information about his unfinished work. It also confirmed how off the rails D&D's ending is according to what GRRM has planned for the books.
Anyway, op also really hates daemyra, another thing that's very much book accurate. Op purposefully chooses to ignore any textual evidence that daemyra was more than a political alliance, but they have a history of picking and choosing canon.
I very much agree with you anon about how shallow op's love of Cersei seems to be. They strike me as the kind of person who refuses to see the grayness GRRM is known for. After all, they are frothing at the mouth at the idea of Rhaenyra being a complex character, so I somehow doubt that they can appreciate Cersei's complexity.

First half here: https://www.tumblr.com/empyrean11/755477272309415936/my-list-of-first-first-half-jays
Commence the second half ... er, highlights?
Joey Votto and Bo are both hurt immediately out of all star break? CURSED
All Star Break! Vladdy is our only all-star. He doesn't participate in HR Derby, but does wear a Teo Jays jersey. Teo wins! 🥹
Stewy finally is allowed to play, makes 2 great catches in the bottom of the 9th
KK's on waivers, plays spectacularly anyway
Ernie 3-run homers on back-to-back days, but everyone gets injured (Bo, Varsh, half the pitchers in the whole minor league system, 3rd base coach)
KK announces he will retire after this season
Ernie pitches an inning against the Rays when the Jays are down by 13 runs. He's the only Jays pitcher of the day who doesn't give up a run. Spencer walks in the 9th inning when they're down by 13. Come on, you can't do that.
ERNIE WALK OFF!!!
Gausman complete game!!
Stewy's first hit, it's a double!!
Yariel has a really, really bad game. Optioned to AAA. Immediately recalled because so many guys have just been traded
Addison's first HR!! 🚀
Ricky Tiedeman needs TJ surgery 😥
TRADE DEADLINE WEEK WAS SO AWFUL. Jano and KK and Kikuchi and Yimi Garcia and Trevor Richards and Justin Turner and IKF and giant Nate
Loperfido joins the Jays, wears Jano's #9 and we weep again.
The roomies have adopted Loperfido
Let's just intentionally walk Aaron Judge all the time.
Spencer and Davis got haircuts, I am inconsolable
Joey Votto is actually actually playing with the Bisons!
Varsho makes incredible catches every damn day
Springer hockey jersey giveaway, everyone is so cute
traded Cam Eden 😭 to the yankees 😭
Vladdy's hit streak ends at 22 games. He has been INCREDIBLE!! PAY! THE! MAN!
De Los Santos first MLB hit & RBI! he's immediately sent back to AAA.
Here comes Will Wagner! BLAZING HOT start!!
Joey Votto retires, announces via a 9-second Instagram video filmed in the Bisons parking lot (because, of course he would)
Down 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th. Loperfido HR to tie it, Barger to WALK IT OFF
There is a new celebration. Bird cage? Hand on head like a unicorn? Stomping? "The Georgie"?? The boys are weird but are having SO much fun
Bowden with 8 no-hit innings!! Bitter Angel guy says he was "hittable and not special" - Chris Bassitt makes it known that he does not agree with a handmade sign on the broadcast next day.
The Danny Jansen 😭😭 / time travel weirdness game. Jays win both ends of this double header-ish thing. George Springer can't stop hitting home runs.
"Players weekend" Ernie has a pencil bat!
Stewy sent back to Buffalo 😥 Lukes (so much beard) comes up.
Addison wrestles alligators and bears?!
The boys trounce the twins 15-0, it was SO MUCH FUN. Bonus: Ernie bats left-handed to protect his sore ankle
Leo dives thru the netting and into the stands to make a ridiculous catch!!
Bowden with 8 no-hit innings again! What is this guy?!
KIRKY WALK-OFF
Davis is back babyyy (he's using Jano's old bats?!?!)
Leo gets HBP every day
BO IS BACK!!! REUNITED WITH VLADDY 💕
Bo breaks his finger in fielding practice literally the next day. WTF
Will Wagner and Varsho also need surgery. Stewy & Clase called up.
Swept at the Trop. Of course.
Everything is bad but tiny bits of light: Clase first MLB HR! Lukes first MLB HR!
Jano returns to the dome. SOBBING. Danny & Kirky, Danny & Davis WAILING SOBS, BRING HIM HOME
Bo's broken finger needs surgery too. EVERYBODY GETS A FREE SURGERY!
Vladdy ends the year with 199 hits, because we can't have nice things.
Sure sure, let's limp to the end of the season getting swept by the ... Marlins?!?

So I saw some fics and posts about the culprits in Ace attorney being like a family and I want to add something about it just because I can.
An average conversation in this place is like:
Redd: So yeah my mum is back on heroin but that's besides the point, back on the topic there shouldn't be so many stairs in prison
April: I agree, fuck this place
Redd: Yeah, it should be just one floor
April: But then how would be push ugly people down the stairs?
Redd: Shit you're right
Mimi: Eh, I would go for poor people instead
April: That's just because your ass was burned af and your makeup is shit
Redd: Bitch you were a nurse and you talk about pushing poor people, who are you to talk?
Mimi: Who are you to talk about pushing ugly people?
Redd: BITCH-
Damon: Don't talk to my husband like that!
Manfred: When the fuck did you get married-?
Meanwhile behind them Mike (who somehow got arrested and send to prison on incident) is coloring with Iris while Acro and Jake watch over them cuz they have nothing better to do, oh and they care I guess. Also Luke is just infodumping Mike who doesn't really mind because there both autistic. Also Mike is an age regressor because why not?
Richard and Jean talk about fashion cuz there gay AND fabulous ✨
Luke is dating Godot, is friends with ALL the ladies and him and Richard try to kill eachother every fucking time
Godot just kinda hangs around and is an awesome boyfriend
Manfred and Damon have a weird relationship no one understands

April just wants to get laid and talk shit about EVERYONE with Redd cuz they are besties fr fr ✨
No one likes Matt and they bully him by saying that they will call Shelly de Killer
Luke is the only one who actually knows how to contact Shelly but he won't tell anyone how
Furio is probably into Jean but honesly who tf knows anymore
Everyone likes Iris

Probably preaching to the choir here, but I find the constant revisionism regarding Christopher Hayden's sporadic attempts at fatherhood rather frustrating.
I often see his fans argue that Lorelai "kept Rory away from him and refused to let him participate" and that "she made it uncomfortable for him." But did she? She declined his marriage proposal because he was uninterested in Rory from the beginning. She left home and moved thirty minutes away, worked her way up to a middle-class life, and made it clear he was free to do whatever the fuck he wanted. We're told he calls Rory every week (I find this unconvincing, but whatever), he sees her on holidays, he knows how to find Rory and Lorelai when he finally visits them 14-15 years after they move there. It sure doesn't sound like Lorelai hid her away and didn't tell Christopher where they lived or refused to allow him to visit her. Not to mention that we are explicitly told in season 1 that she's "always held the door open to her, you just never wanted to use it" and he agrees.
The other thing she tells Rory in that S1 episode is that "he's going to come and go as he pleases, hon, you know that." Contrary to the belief that she kept Rory away from him, she actually is super accommodating any time he wants to show up and contribute and she never rebukes him for all the times he didn't feel like it. She doesn't appear to ever ask him for money or criticize him for being a bad dad and of course, she keeps sleeping with him any time he does anything half-decent. She's raised Rory to think that it's inevitable he's going to treat them like crap and only show up when it's convenient for him and that they can never be mad at him or hold it against him because she didn't marry him when he offered so long ago. The idea that he had a responsibility to Rory regardless of whether Lorelai was willing to be in a relationship with him is not a reality in their world. It doesn't help that both sets of grandparents seem to blame the entire situation on Lorelai and don't expect Christopher to contribute in any way.
And of course, Christopher doesn't really care about Rory. He's mostly eager to act like a dad when there are cracks in Lorelai's relationship with Luke and he senses an opportunity to get in her pants (he usually succeeds at this). Once that opportunity goes away, he disappears. He drops out of Rory's life once Gigi is born. He doesn't appear to be in contact with her after he and Lorelai divorce until it's time for her graduation. After Lorelai stops talking to him once she reconciles with Luke in the post-OS period, he stops talking to Rory, too. Even the offer to pay for the second half of Rory's college education only comes when he inherits a bunch of money he didn't earn and offers to buy *Lorelai* anything she wants until Rory reorients his offer towards something practical. Rory is a means to get to Lorelai and not much more. And of course, we know from AYITL that he sends Gigi away to her mother eventually as well, giving up on her too.
This is not to say that Lorelai always behaves perfectly. She avoids telling Rory about Christopher requesting to make holiday plans with her for a few days and she does a lot to poison Rory against Christopher/Sherry in S3 because SHE'S mad at him for rejecting her and Rory feels she has to take her side. Still, I don't feel this is equal to all of Christopher's neglect and at any rate Rory is a big girl now, a legal adult, and can develop a relationship with her dad beyond her mom if she wants. Christopher doesn't appear to be terribly interested.
(Oh, and the aforementioned S2/S3 behavior is why you shouldn't be best friends with your daughter, as it's inevitable that your hurt feelings will get in the way of what's best for her and her relationship, however frayed, with her other parent. That is another topic, though).
In the end, all this does have a profound effect on Rory. She's often submissive in her relationships (especially with Dean) and lets problems fester instead of dealing with them because that's what's been modeled for her. She also regularly cheats with old boyfriends because her parents taught her that you always have a claim on your first love and that overrides whatever commitment you're currently making. And of course, in the AYITL era she seems to have copied his life patterns a bit too much, as she's got no real incentive to change at this point.
Lorelai wasn't too hard on him. She was way too easy on him and put up with too much of his shit over the years, and that had its own reverberations. Both Lorelai and Rory should have been allowed to be angry at him for his neglect. It never happened.

How do you think peralabeth cope with the trauma of the war? They all had different perspectives/relationships with Luke and its bound to cause conflict between them, do you think it'd be cause for arguments?
YES!!! they do argue, A LOT. this ship is basically just me going "hey wouldnt it be fun if these specific characters' traumas were all in the same room together and they kissed about it" lmaoooo. ta server and i are constantly joking about the different ways these three argue. percy and annabeth by virtue of having been in a long-term relationship can actually de-escalate situations. percy and al throw down w each other while annabaster can have hours-long arguments about ANYTHING (as you can see, al is the problem rogue variable here...)
and luke is absolutely a cornerstone of that! for al, the TA's loss and luke's death has kind of memorialized/pedestalized his recollection of events and he's not entirely the most reliable or reasonable person about it. it becomes a "i was there when he was alive" (al) vs "we were there when he died" (percabeth) standoff. but also, you have a "bruh the dude was a manipulative creep" (percy) vs "he was our big brother so stfu about him" (annabaster). then tying that altogether with all of three of them agreeing (to varying degrees) about what luke thought of the gods... it gets MESSY
how they cope is also p interesting. percy in this situation i think is very much a protective/caregiver role because keeping his partners from imploding means that he won't implode either. annabeth throws herself into keeping everything in her life in order, so she's a grounding voice because without her the two boys will start an apocalypse by levelling a city. and alabaster, as i've said before is quite volatile but he's also crucial in bringing out the hard questions because he fears no man or god or anything and will say what he wants to say, consequences be damned; one of the crucial aspects of percabeth is that theyve been together for so long and sometimes that can mean that it's also hard to talk about traumas theyve seen together in a productive manner... if that makes sense... so al is the external perspective in this case
anyway i think this should be obvious in itself but these three are not exactly the pinnacle of a healthy relationship 😂 but it's probably the best they can hope for so go off besties

all the posts about the parallels between Percy and Luke made me sad, I'm actually crying because the sadness is injustice is so raw
they were just kids, they ARE just CHILDREN fighting to survive in a world that is fighting to kill them, they are both right in their perspectives
HOW could anyone blame Luke for his disillusionment with the gods? he was just a child who only knew pain and betrayal from the gods, those same gods who were supposed to love and protect their children, as he must have felt when he realized that he and all those he loved were nothing more than pawns in your parents' twisted games? what it must have been like to know the truth that they are just disposable objects that can be replaced more than often? Knowing that their own parents wouldn't even be moved if they died?
I can understand his anger, why should they fight for minimal recognition? Why should they be abandoned? Why did their own parents let them DIE?
demigods are objectified, they are marginalized, they are cast aside as if they were forgotten toys that are only remembered when they are useful and forgotten again until they are broken quando são úteis e novamente esquecidos até serem quebrados
Sejamos honestos, qualquer pessoa nesta situação se rebelaria, o único imune a isso seria o protagonista, mas e aqueles que não têm tanta sorte? aqueles que nunca foram reivindicados? aqueles sem rede de apoio? those who are just cannon fodder destined to help those most favored by destiny? those who are not destined for great things? aqueles que MORRERAM e foram tão rapidamente esquecidos? Existe alguém que não enlouqueceria vendo e vivendo num sistema tão abusivo?
there are SO many parallels between these two, a hero and a villain, Percy and Luke
every villain is a hero in his own perspective but we can really consider him a villain, it's so good to see that the fandom agrees that Luke before being a villain he was a victim, a victim of an abusive system, a victim of the gods , victim of the world
I can't stop crying for all those children, those who were forgotten, those who were tortured by the world, I'm crying for those women who were wronged by the gods, who suffered just for loving
and most importantly I'm crying because all of these books are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
i love the random switch to portuguese in the middle cuz it really shows how passionate you are about this lol 😂😂
BUT ANYWAYS YES YES YES!!!
i remember an old tumblr post that defended luke from the luke haters and they said something along the lines of how if the books were written in pov of luke, we would TOTALLY see him as the hero and percy as the villain.
why? because luke's revolution MADE SENSE. he was trying to change an abusive system by taking down the gods who CLEARLY suck. and we would see percy as the villain because he's the one trying to protect that abusive system (or at least, that's what it would look like to us)
honestly, luke could've been the perfect hero, but his biggest mistake was being so desperate to fix everything that he trusted kronos to help him. the whole thing about gods vs titans in the books was very "lesser evils" coded and the gods were definitely the lesser evil. they were bad, but the titans were worse. because of this mistake, luke became the tragic hero instead
the real villains here were the gods and the titans. the demigods, regardless of whose side they were on, were, as always, just the tragic victims of this whole mess
