Did you know that the October 1995 to mid-1996 build of Missing Link used 3D models? These models were generated by the same Silicon Graphics workstations used for the 3D models in Donkey Kong Country. The 3D models were later scrapped and replaced with 2D sprites.
The top image here is from a preview article in Dengeki PlayStation vol.15, February 1996, and the bottom from vol.19, April, 1996.

Dengeki Playstation Magazine Vol.500 (2011) translations Final Fantasy Type-0 interview with Tetsuya Nomura
The World of FF Type-0 With a Different Concept of Death
We would like to ask you about the latest work you've been involved with, Mr. Nomura. First of all, along with FF Type-0's release date and price, the artist who performs the theme song was announced.
Nomura: This time around, we asked BUMP OF CHICKEN to do the theme song. The first time I met them was actually during the premium preview screening of FFVII Advent Children in 2005. They were enthusiastic fans of the FF series, and I remembered them telling me all about their passion for it. We had a number of opportunities to talk, and we promised to work on a title together someday that would suit their band. Finally, the time has come when we can fulfill the promise that was made years ago.
How did BUMP OF CHICKEN react?
Nomura: They were very happy and excited to work hard on it. After taking in all of the contents of the scenario and setting, they were able to write a song while incorporating the requests of Director Tabata. We had many meetings, so I felt like I had a very proactive part in the creation of the piece.
What kind of song is BUMP OF CHICKEN’s “Zero”?
Nomura: The lyrics are meaningful. The moment you listen to them, they'll pierce through your heart. I think that the feeling you get when you listen to the song will be different before you play the game and after you complete the ending. "Zero" is more than the opening and ending theme. It also plays throughout the story, so please listen to it as if it were a part of the blood that flows through this work.
When you put it like that, it makes me feel even more curious about the story.
Nomura: One of the themes of FF Type-0 is the emphasis of the meaning of life by using the unreality of war in modern Japan. Because it's linked with academic life, which is something everyone experiences in reality, I think it will be easy for players to relate.
Certainly, even from watching the videos that have been released, it seems like a lot of effort went into representing death.
Nomura: Furthermore, the setting of FF Type-0 is a world where "the concept of death is different."
What does having a "different concept of death" mean?
Nomura: You'll receive more details later. This is the key to FF Type-0, so it would be best to have Tabata talk about it. I believe there was a line in the latest video that hinted at that aspect of the setting.
What's more, the high-profile voice actors in FF Type-0 have been attracting attention. Were you responsible for the casting, Mr. Nomura?
Nomura: You're right. Tabata entrusted me with the character-related work. There was a reason we hired such big-name voice actors this time, and it was purely to deepen the individuality of each character. FF Type-0 is an ensemble piece centered around Class Zero as a whole, so it doesn't delve deeply into the backgrounds and episodes of each character like other FF titles. The content of the story is difficult, so there was a possibility that it would leave a weak impression if we did something poorly. I chose such magnificent voice actors so that each character could leave a lasting impression even if they appear only for a short time.
Are there other characters we haven't seen yet?
Nomura: The remaining characters also have outstanding voice actors. I hope you'll look forward to them.

Alice : Ow! Kirito! Watch where you hitting with that broom!
Kirito : Alice? Why are you not wearing clothes...in the box?
Alice : I was shipped by Amazon. Good thing they come in travel sizes with any suspicious packages.
Kirito : Oh, now I see what's going on. How can you barely fit in that thing?
Alice : Just needed a little ride. After all, I was downloaded from data, from where?...
Kirito : It's because I rented for free.
Alice : No I was made from the help of that is Lain Iwakura.
Kirito : Who's Lain Iwakura?
Alice : You know, that 14-year old computer wizard who does stuff on the net, she's a popular one that knows about computers and wires.
Kirito : Yeah, same old, same old. Plus, she's a an intellectual in cases of many internet stuff, but just to remind you, the internet is full of secrets and you might not like it, cause it's a bad sign.
Alice : I know that. Just please get me out of this.
Kirito : Alright.
(Alice gets up from the box)
Kirito : Holy cow, you're real, hot, and even indecency.
Alice : That's because I forgot to put on some pants and clothes. And you are right, I am kinda hot. Don't say I warned you about not wearing any clothes and going full naked in publicity. It's a crime in the real world.
Kirito : Mind if I can take a look at it?

Alice : And keep your mitts of my hot bod, but you may touch it once, and no groping!
Kirito : Welcome to my world. I'm glad that Alicization is over, I can't still figured it out why was I in a coma. Oh that's right...

Alice : Sure, it's got plenty of entertainment!
Kirito : Sweet! Hey, guys! Got me a new Playstation. Also, get this girl some clothes, she's naked in the house!
Suguha : Aw yeah! Sweet! I'm ready for some Playstation!
Alice : Looks like my work here is done. Also, I really need to get off the Zenra in Japan. My body is too hot for this. I wonder how the others are doing fine?

My japanese is really bad, so absolutely take my translations with a grain of salt, but Soejima also mentioned this in his blog.
"Ultimately, in P3, the heroine(mainly as a love interest) is left to the player's choice, giving a degree of freedom through making it into a lovers(romantic) Social Link.
[...]
By the way, since there are lots of artworks of Aigis, who appears as the narrative's driving force, and Hero together, I'm often asked if she's the heroine. I focused on drawing Aigis' distinctive roboticness to support the general idea of the narrative, so she's more like a key character than a heroine.
In P3F we prepared an Aigis Social Link in response to demand, but that's why there isn't one in P3."
Old Interviews
A couple of years ago, I came across a compilation of interviews, including some that shared some very interesting info about Aigis' role in the game and the reasons why she didn't have a S-Link in the original Persona 3. I didn't trust my Japanese enough to capture all the nuance though, so the screenshots have been sitting in my folders collecting dust.
Well, no more! We now luckily have a professional Japanese translator in the Aikoto Server, and she has kindly gone ahead and translated the interviews in question. Thank you so much, kitaroai!

Dengeki PlayStation: I got the impression that Aigis was the main heroine of this work. What made you decide on having a robot girl as the game’s main heroine?
Tanaka (Writer): While I didn’t particularly set out to write her as one would a “main heroine”, we felt that a character who is unaffected by death was essential to a story with “Death” as its theme. In order to explore that theme, it was crucial to depict the process of an existence that starts-off not understanding the meaning of “death”, only to eventually come to face it and acknowledge it.
Soejima (Character Designer): When it comes “heroines”, the game has a system that allows you to date various girls… But personally, I feel that Yukari is a girl that is nearby, while Aigis is the heroine of the main story, or to be more exact, a character that is at the very core of it.
Dengeki PlayStation: So rather than a “heroine”, she could be considered another protagonist?
Hashino (Director): Yes… Aigis is special. She was necessary to depict the story we wanted to tell.
Dengeki PlayStation: I imagine that she is the only female character without a Social Link precisely because she is the one at the heart of the story.
Tanaka: Indeed. It wouldn’t be realistic to say that you can experience love with a robot partner in the exact same way you would with a human, but above all, we feared that giving her a Social Link would make her special role in the story seem less important.
Hashino: She was going to have a Social Link at first and we prepared the scenario for it, but we ultimately decided not to include it.
Dengeki PlayStation: And what about an ending that's influenced by the relationships built in the Social Links? For example, did you ever consider having character-exclusive endings?
Hashino: The staff discussed having character-exclusive endings depending on which Social Links the player did. However, we ultimately decided not to do so because it would take us away from the main story and from what we truly wanted to depict. The relationships with the girls reach their own conclusions in the daily school life section, which is separate from the main story.

Hashino: Aigis, on the other hand, is a character we added from the very beginning. Since she is a robot, she lacks “feelings”, so we wanted to contrast that with the Protagonist’s emotional side. She was also an indispensable character because she has no fear of “Death”, the main theme of this work.
Soejima: The setting of the story came before the concept, I believe. I remember I started drawing without knowing the story nor its stakes, which was a struggle.
Hashino: […] At first, Soejima seemed to be against the idea of a robot girl, but after convincing him that it was necessary precisely because Aigis is the heroine, it somehow worked out. Was that why you designed her with her machinery exposed?
Soejima: No, it’s not as if I drew her like that as a form of revenge (laughs). I just wanted her design to have more of a nostalgic vibe rather than a high-tech one. My tastes also played a part in it, though (laughs).
