Hi 😊 I love your blog 💖 I had some questions about demri. I know she was a brunette, but do you know the. exact hair color/shade of brown?
what about what foundation shade she would've been?
Hi! Thank you very much!!
Her hair colour I'd say it was dark brown but as we saw when she was little, she was blonde. So I guess her blonde hair got darker (it happens to many people when they grow and don't have like a pale/light blonde) and she never dyed it back to blonde (as many people do)
As for the foundation (had to google here, haha I don't know nothing about makeup!) I'd say it was always very light (if indeed there was foundation!). I think she always wore very natural colours (except for maybe some photoshots or events)
I don't now if it really helped, but if anyone knows better, please comment below or reblog with the new info (and then I'd reblog it again) :)
I thought joining instagram but there are amazing blogs there (Memories of Demri, Demri L. Parrott, Demri Lara Parrot, Honoring Demri, & Demri Parrott Legacy) and on facebook there is this great page for her (Demri L. Parrott).
Here on tumblr I didn't find a blog only for her (there are amazing blogs like Little Queenies and Groupies Outrageously) but not an active blog solely for her (apologies if i forgot yours! Drop me a line and I'll update it!), so that's why I created this one (focusing on her art/job/work,as all the others are about everything), and that's why I'll only remain here.
But, as said, no content belongs to me, I'm just sharing, so feel free to share and spread the word, repost etc (credit who I credit, don't need to credit me). That's Demri's legacy ♥️
For some reason, my post did not come over to Tumblr like it normally does from IG. Therefore, I wanted to share what I felt was meaningful and true to Demri.
Yesterday would’ve been Demri Lara Parrot’s 54th birthday. Let me just say, there were soooooo many beautiful and wonderful posts.
Which now changes what I would’ve said in this post. I think it’s so important for us as living, breathing individuals to honor those who’ve left before us. It’s only our voices, our actions that can relay the most important lessons taught to us by them.
Demri’s lessons would’ve been to be kind, be accepting of all, dig deep to be creative and most of all, give to others. Although I never got to meet her in person, our paths crossed many times; she with her friends, me with mine. She always had a smile on her face.
I think it’s also important to say this; many people have tried to make her the villain about the drug use between her & Layne. But let me make this very clear - Demri and Layne were both consenting adults. No one forced either to use, let alone force it upon each other. I also find it insulting for those to cast stones against her when she’s not here to defend herself. And many seem to think the rumors are true and continue adding onto a ridiculous narrative which is frankly just bullshit. To those who think they know the true story, my response is - “highly doubtful.” Regardless of who, what, where, when, why & how it’s frankly none of our business.
Layne & Demri, loved one another. That’s what’s important and how we should remember them. Now - that’s a wonderful narrative.
About the video: I chose Prince and Purple Rain for the song because Layne loved the movie so much. It also works well with the edit I did on Alison Dyer’s photo of Demri from 1992. I used Procreate to change her hair color to purple and color her lips and bring that sparkle to her eyes. Video, edit and concept by Cindy and @nehistripesseattle of nehistripes.com
Those Layne & Demri photoshoot negatives are totally private and most likely stolen! Who is the scum who published those??? The photographer?? I think not…
I really wish there were videos of Demri, along with recordings of her voice that were available to the public; I’d love to see that beautiful lady in movement, as well as hear her voice. I bet it’d be lovely on the ears :’)
Exactly 25 years ago (october 29th, 1996), Layne Staley lost Demri Parrot, his inspiring muse and a great love of his life.
“ Demri was passionate about many things and excelled in art and theater. She was interested in philosophy and read poetry, loved to collect vintage clothes, make decoupage, write poetry and play in front of the camera. Demri Parrot was well known and had numerous friends that she touched with her charismatic and enchanting personality. Most of her friends described her as a very sweet and beautiful person, kind, peaceful and artistic. ”
Demri died due to an inflammation of the heart caused by an overdose of heroin. She did not properly die of an overdose, as many believe, on the contrary, his heart simply grew a lot for his body.
Many believe that this was the last nail in the coffin for the already suffered Layne, who was fighting his own lost battle against an addiction. Friends comment that after Demri's death, Layne was put under surveillance by suicide for 24 hours.
RIP Demri. I hope heaven received you, along with the love of your life Layne. I love you. <3
"I found out my mom befriended Demri while in rehab. Just thought that was pretty wild. She was in Sundown in Yakima sometime around 1992. I was about 1 year old. She recently told me she made friends with Layne Staley’s girlfriend during their stays there, and that she was very sweet and just a Beautiful, Cool person during their brief time they knew each other.”
I have been reading all the post about Demri Lara Parrot and lots of info from other sites too. I read about her early days and where she lived, but does anyone know the actual addresses of where she use to live, in Arlington for example or the address when she was born? I'm curious to see the homes she once lived at, through google maps, if thats got them. And also the home she lived at in Seattle? Does anyone know these?
Thanks
Stan
I'll share it with everyone here, Stan, we personally don't know but maybe (hopefully!) someone does!
Yeah, would be nice to see how the houses look like (I've only seen photos of the Carolina Apartments).
I didn't know abt Demri Parrot before (i'm not into Alice in chains that much) and she looks like she was an angel on earth. Is there a documentary of her?
hi sweet darling!! 💜
i’m well, how’re u? tysm for asking!!
oh demri really was such an angel. sadly i don’t know of a documentary about her, but i’ve heard that the book alice in chains: the untold story by david de sola talks about her a bit, although i’ve not read it myself yet!
@littlequeenies has so many great posts about demri if you’re interested in her and her life 🌙
Have you ever had a documentary come across your YouTube that you watch and afterwards you can't get it out of your head?
I watched one on Layne Staley the singer of Alice in Chains. Which then lead to one on him and his love Demri Parrot and their deaths a few years apart.
I am astounded that I seemed to have blocked out anything on Alice in Chains or any of their story. I've decided it was because I was always a HUGE fan of Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, Temple of the dog, Audioslave ETC. But, now listening to Alice in Chains I can't believe how many songs I didnt know were them.
