Analysis Giyu part 3

It left on Haruo findings Yuu’s haori in ground that caused him to cry since given clue for getting close for find Yuu. 

Giyu takes the lead for searching like being first to look at under brushes. In case there are demons or danger. This one his way protects Haruo while continuing their search for Yuu.

They had been searching until it started getting dark. Haruo had begun crying while holding his brother's haori fabric. This proves that Haruo doesn't want to lose hope of finding his brother. 

Even though Giyu tries his best to calm down Haruo. This leads Haruo to think that Yuu is the only family member left. Since they lost their parent at an early age Yuu had one raise him. This allows Giyu to connect with Haruo based on a similar situation.

Haruo tells his story about his brother. You as a kind person after taking traits from his mother. And Yuu is very clever after taking traits from his father.

 This is similar to how Giyu was raised by his older sister Tsutako, once they lost both their parent from disease. The way that Haruo describes Yuu's personality is similar to Tanjiro Kamado. There were mentions that Yuu did help out the community and was been well-liked. This gives clear parallels.

It is mentioned by Haruo that Yuu does have luck with a lady. Haruo had mentioned that one fisherman’s wife had cooked him food for Yuu’s return. The scenes reminded Tsutako, that she was engaged, and why going to be wed the next day. This creates a tragic setup.

Giyu wants to calm Haruo’s nerves about the situation by giving the sign of hope. Giyu recalled that Haruo described Yuu as being smart. Giyu suggests there is the possibility that Yuu could be near the river since it would be in a safe place. 

The moments do prove Giyu is similar to Tanjiro for making promises and bringing a sign of hope and the way demon slayer shows sympatric for their emotion and situation. This shows how Giyu wasn't always strict. This shows how Giyu takes his mission seriously, while they interact based on similar situations.

Now it rearch night time and both had to follow the river trail that led to the cave. Giyu went first in case there demon as Haruo followed behind him. Since Giyu had noticed the smell of fresh blood. This is bad news.

Until Giyu saw two ominous lights appear. It revealed a demon’s eye as the demon attempted attack the demon slayer. Giyu warn Haruo to try get out the way. However. The demon block Haruo’s escaped. 

It revealed it was the same Demon that Giyu had been fighting early. The demon began to brag about liking the taste of children and the way he enjoyed torturing the victims to gain more favors which enraged the demon slayer. 

As Giyu began battle with the demon. Giyu had noticed that he had increased his strength due to eating humans to attack the village. Another was when the demon that Giyu was fighting early had gotten stronger. This gives some strikes and gives an insight into the demon.  

Meanwhile, Haruo had noticed something in the distance. It causes Haruo to be able to recognize the figure in the dark. Which gives clue as to who is that person is

Mitsuri: Mr. Rengoku…Mr. Rengoku…

Rengoku: *wakes up*

Mitsuri: We’ve arrived.

Kyojuro: That’s a wetland a little further from town. The demon slayer members were observing the situation of the ghosts, while waiting for the arrival of Kanroji and I.

Demon Slayer: Thanks for your hard work.

Kyojuro: How’s it going?

Demon Slayer: The ghost is at the intersection ahead, heading south. The carriage can’t get in from here.

Kyojuro: Understood. What other things are worth paying attention to?

Demon Slayer: Although the demon walked slowly, if it keeps going it’ll end up in town.

Kyojuro: Just don’t let it go.

Demon Slayer: Yes. Please be careful. 

Kyojuro: Umu. Come on, Kanroji!

Mitsuri: Yes!

*Kyojuro and Mitsuri run together towards the town.*

Kyojuro: On the right, right?

Mitsuri: Yes! *gasps* It’s a crossroads! I saw it….

Kyojuro: Isn’t this already the edge of town?

*They stop*

Mitsuri: So big….There’s already a wall standing in front of me right?

Kyojuro: The demon’s footsteps are very slow. There’s no response when approaching from behind. Didn’t you notice us?

Mitsuri: Let me go first!

Kyojuro: We need to stop it here.

Mitsuri: Yes!

Mitsuri: What’s going on with this feeling?! It’s as soft as a konjac 

Mitsuri: Mr. Rengoku! This demon is so elastic! 

Kyojuro: Leave quickly.

Mitsuri: No I don’t want to meet you! Continuous Whisper!

Mitsuri: Cut off!

Kyojuro: But that’s not the point. So tough but why were the Demon Slayers killed by this demon? Moving so slowly even if you can’t knock it down.It’s not like he’ll be killed. Kyojuro: Get rid of that big demon.

Mitsuri: Yes!

Kyojuro: Your muscles are great. Strong and flexible. The body of this ghost, you can definitely cut it off. Got it? We need to breathe well.

Mitsuri: I see!

Kyojuro: The breath of fire, fifth form, flame tiger!

Mitsuri: Ah--! Cut..Cut it off! I cut it down Mr. Rengoku!

Kyojuro: Beautifully done.

Kyojuro: We go to the town, rescue the people from the fire! I will never let anyone die! Kanroji, don’t let the fire expand again. You go and demolish the building to prevent the fire from spreading. I will go everywhere to search and rescue people who could not escape.

Mitsuri: Yes!

Kyojuro: Everyone needs to be saved!

But I'm also adding more to this, this is going to be so long, oh my god-

TL;DR: A messy general breakdown about her lore and how A.B.A. has very serious abandonment issues. This is mostly my sleep deprived brain doing headcanon after headcanon and a LOT of speculating.

Take it with a grain of salt, sugar, and even pepper.

I'm inclined to believe that A.B.A is ignorant about the fact that her creator was kidnapped since she was "born"(?) after the fact, but she does seem to know about them. I don't think it would be a stretch for her to think she was abandoned, being born absolutely alone and then spending the next 10 years in the same situation.

This explains the why for her hate for "wasteful humans" and "discarding things that could still be of use", not only that, now that I think about it this is something that is very noticeable on her character, her clothes being pants turned into a whole outfit and maybe another reason as to why she is so attached to her husband, since Paracelsus was left forgotten by Slayer on the ground for like 20 years.

But knowing her story, her abandonment issues become more tragic.

She is born on Frasco all alone, left wandering this giant mansion/lab, the only things left of her creator are old books, old experiments, herself, forced to fend for herself for the next 10 years. Is during this time she gets her special interest for keys, they are the ones that open doors and let A.B.A explore more, here she learns the concept of freedom and a way to sooth her own sadness.

It's here we're she probably gets the wish to explore the world... but she is also understandably scared since the only thing she knows is Frasco, with the plus of not knowing anybody else.

Eventually, getting enough courage, she finally adventures to the outside of Frasco, encountering the one and only Flament Nigel, who A.B.A. can only see as this giant, golden, and talking key. I'm not surprised by her instantly wanting to grab him and take him with her... but I am very curious as to why she decided to marry him.

The marrying part? Probably, during those 10 years of wandering around a of books, she found children's storybooks talking about how the protagonists married a prince/princess and lived happy forever after together. Or, just as easy, she read somewhere about the concept of marriage and the whole "Til' Death Do Us Apart" (She maybe also got the idea of finding a human body for Paracelsus here as well)

But in general? wanting to make sure to never be alone again, since he is ALSO the closest thing to another person she finds.

(Another interesting fact is that she named him after her own creator, maybe as a way to carry at least a part of them with her, in some way.)

After this, we have A.B.A and "Paracelsus" (her now husband/demonic axe/key) getting into battle againg and again, she being wounded not only by their foes but by Para himself, this thanks to Moroha Mode in the game. A.B.A still doesn't let go and actually convinces herself that this HAS to be love, thing being easy with her not knowing anything better and Paracelsus own control over her.

After all, the alternative is being all alone again.

Lore wise, and according to a Guilty Gear XX CD drama, is around here where they have an encounter with Slayer, we are shown something interesting. After Paracelsus tries to convince Slayer to become his wielder, A.B.A. fights until the point being very gravely injured and even then still keeping going, clearly desperate and willing to do anything to get him back.

A mix of her own fear, again, and her posesive love for the demonic axe.

Of course, things change with time, Paracelsus starts caring for her, stops consuming blood and manipulating her, but by this point A.B.A. is madly in love with him but also incredibly and now clearly scared of him leaving her, being afraid of being abandoned or discarded by "Paracelsus" ... again.

This fear, and also her very crooked love, results in a deep jealousy that it even starts affecting Para physically (becoming a black goop and his new transformation). Not only that, she lashesing out violently, even hurting him directly (biting and scratching him).

The tables turning between them, in way.

In Strive, A.B.A. admits that she knows that all of this is wrong, how, in her own words "the shackles of affection are still shackles, after all". Even in her deep jealousy and twisted love for Paracelsus, she understands that they can't keep going like this and that she has been thinking about this for a while.

And while in the end of the Arcade Mode they decide to give it a try to a healthier relationship, A.B.A makes it known that she doesn't know anything apart her life in Frasco and the one she has with Paracelsus, she doesn't know any other way to relate.

I hope the best for them, and dear god, I'm going to be craving for more content of A.B.A. for months now.

A.B.A nation save me....

(Sorry if this post is scattered, I wrote this half asleep and also enraged, since tumblr ate the first draft of this)

Headcanon:

You know how A.B.A's official profile mentions she hates wasteful humans and likes treasuring things she feels it'd be a waste to throw away?

Imagine a scene with the character of your choice, in which they either throw away something and A.B.A makes a fuss out of it and shuns the other character for being a wasteful human (or that they're picking up bad human habits, if they're not human) or instead that the character sees A.B.A pick up an item that an unknown party has thrown away and she's acting in an upset manner, again mentioning her abhorrence of said wasteful humans. The character questions why she even feels THAT weirdly strongly about the topic .

After a back and forth, A.B.A scowls defeatedly, holding the discarded item very closely, and says:

"Humans are wasteful, they even throw away things they made by themselves! ...And maybe, if they didn't do that, my creator wouldn't have abandoned me."

Here we have two options. Either she somehow does not know the military took him away and believes he abandoned her, again, just like other humans once they get tired of their things, OR she knows it wasn't an intentional abandonment but.. She still can't take off that lingering feeling. What if he's okay and didn't care enough to find her again? What if he is not okay (or isn't alive anymore) and she's being callous but the thought keeps lingering in her mind?

Whatever the case, objects being discarded, left alone, when they could still work really irks her. You could say she feels empathy for them.

Well, no, that's not quite it, either. While the DLC roster has introduced a lot of new characters that draw in people unfamiliar with the series who don't know the plot or lore very well,

A.B.A has literally nothing to do with the plot whatsoever

Testament, for example, being a Gear automatically ties them to that part of the narrative, and likewise their pre-Strive interactions tie them to characters like Johnny and Dizzy. Bridget, while less important to the narrative back in XX and Accent Core, still used to go around as a bounty hunter (offering a bit of a gateway to pre-Xrd's frequent use of bounty hunters and how it ties into prejudice about Gears) and later an aspiring street performer, in the process meeting and occasionally befriending character in certain endings like Dizzy and Jam.

For a better reference, here's a character interaction chart circa Overture-era. While it's obviously out of date now since Xrd and Strive introduced new characters and new character interactions, the fundamental relationships haven't changed too too much

As you can see, everyone's interconnected in some way or another!...aside from A.B.A, who's just kinda chilling in the corner. Likewise, in her Accent Core plotlines, she pretty much keeps to herself and remains singleminded in her goal of finding Paracelsus a new body. The closest she gets is interacting with the P.W.A.B in her efforts to see if they can make an artificial body since they had already manufactured the Robo-Ky line, but that interaction is brief (and not canon) and isn't really all that close or friendly.

And while you could connect her to Paracelsus...he also has nothing to do with anything. Slayer mentions being familiar with Paracelsus' past when he was once a bloodthirsty demon weapon in the drama CD (not helping that that was only released in Japan and requires finding a fan translation if you don't understand the language), but that has nothing to do with A.B.A herself. The lab where she was made is mentioned a couple of times in Strive, but A.B.A as far as we know is the only known homunculus in the series, and that kind of science isn't explored nearly as much as something like Gears or the Backyard. That, and given her status as DLC means in Strive she has no relevance to the main plot and just has her own individual story in arcade mode.

So when I say 'A.B.A has literally nothing to do with main plot,' I'm not even exaggerating all that much. Girl is straight up just here to hang out.

While I mean no disrespect whatsoever to A.B.A enjoyers and I'm of the mind there's no inherently wrong way to get into a series especially in regards to its characters it's just also very funny that people are trying to get into a series and better understand its lore through the character that literally canonically has basically nothing to do with anything or anyone else in the roster whatsoever

So, in the Mugen Train Drama CD when Kyojuro is talking to Senjuro about Ruka he mentions that her favorite play is the “Hagoromo Play”. I only looked up the synopsis on Wikipedia but it feels like this play wasn’t put in the script randomly. The way it talks about the mantle, passage of night and the dance Hagoromo performs sounds a lot like things that could make Ruka associate it with Demon Slaying even though she isn’t a slayer. What are your thoughts on the play and it’s narrative commentary if there is any?

Thanks! I am done with overwhelming humbling sword research... for now. <3 Let's dive back into some Noh instead! First, some considerations regarding Ruka being a fan: this is not entertainment for the masses. In fact, it's so high brow that it's something it's to be appreciated rather for its spiritual messages, usually of the strictly straight-and-narrow style of moralistic teaching. While its sibling theater form, Kyogen, has the same goes of moralistic teaching through theater, Kyogen was meant to appeal to the tastes of the masses while Noh was considered something more suitable for the dignified samurai class. Rather than focus so heavily on content, it is written a way that encompasses pauses or open spaces, called 間 (ma). You could think of this as the use of white space in a graphic design, which serves to draw focus the content; it gives the eyes a break to better process the message. In Noh, this is reflective sections of the movement and sound. Following a Noh drama seriously is almost like a guided meditation, and we know from Mugen Ressha's Taisho Secrets that Ruka was very experienced with hardcore meditation. She probably had a deep appreciation for the physical and spiritual self-discipline Noh performance requires. Sort of an aside, in the Kimetsu Academy AU it seems she stays busy as a calligraphy teacher, which is a testament to her own self-discipline.

While the first fanbook states that Kyojuro's hobbies are appreciating Noh, Kabuki, and Sumo (the latter two of which can be much more elating) and it's nice to think he picked up some of this from Ruka's influence, I have to wonder whether Shinjuro watched Noh with Ruka because he was also brought up with an appreciation for highbrow theater, or if he was a simp and accompanied her even if he was bored. It'd be fun to say both, but I lean more toward the former.

As for this particular play, "Hagoromo" being her favorite, I think it wasn't chosen so much for why Ruka personally would had appreciated it, but because of how it can symbolize Ruka and Shinjuro's relationship.

The basic idea is that a fisherman finds the heavenly garment (hagoromo) of a heavenly maiden, and it turns out she was bathing nearby and cannot return to heaven without her robe. He initially refuses to give it to her, but she eventually gets it back and leaves him. In describing it this way, I have described many, many, many different versions of the same "Swan Maiden"-esque story, but we'll get to more of the details of Noh version momentarily. I'd like to pause here to say my first thought was "Oh, it's like Ruka being confined to heaven and Shinjuro on earth being unable to reunite with her, and they have two sons like in that one Zhinü and Niulang version," but it's worth nothing that my first thought skipped many, many in-between thoughts. Scholars have often pointed out the similarities between Hagoromo stories and various versions of the Cowherd & Weaving Maiden legend, which has Chinese origins but unique iterations across East Asia. Although the similarities, and therefore the dramatic "tragically separated lovers" influence, are part of why I feel Ufotable chose to mention this Noh play, we'll focus on the Noh play content.

To break it down in more detail, in this version of the story, a fisherman named Hakuryo finds the beautiful garment and means to take it home as a treasure, and then the heavenly maiden (Tennyo) tells him to give it back, for without it she cannot return to heaven. He's like, 'oh, well if it's this much of a treasure, than I really can't part with it, because after all, I am but a wretched fisherman' and then she nearly crumbles with grief. He feels bad about it and decides to give it back, which makes her filled with joy.

However, he can't give it back without a condition. He agrees to give it back if she'll show him her renowned dance. She agrees, on the condition that she be given her robes first. He turns sour again, saying that he'll never see the dance if he does that, because she'll leave as soon as he gives it back to her. She chides him for this attitude, saying how there is no such thing as deceit in the heavens. Seeing the error of his ways is his big spiritual enlightenment in this drama, he humbly returns the hagoromo to her, and then she performs a wondrous dance and disappears by ascending Mt. Fuji and faded into the mist.

Some common themes between this version and other Hagoromo stories is that even if he is not a fisherman, the man who takes the garment is typically of a low status. This makes me think of how Shinjuro saw himself as wretched and worthless. What's also a common theme is that the man always makes an attempt to keep the garment, thereby keeping the heavenly maiden bound to earth--in many versions, as his wife. This makes me think of how desperately Shinjuro wanted to keep Ruka bound to earth too. In the end, the heavenly maiden often does manage to reattain her robes, such as finding where her husband hid it, and she very suddenly returns to heaven. Predictably, this makes me think of Ruka's death.

What sticks out in this Noh version is how the encounter is a positive experience for both the fisherman and for the Tennyo. While many Noh drama are sobering reminders of the fragility of life and human morality, in this one, the Tennyo is very honestly joyful about recovering her stolen robe, and Hakuryo is honestly moved and changed for the better by the experience, even if it did reveal his character faults along the way. To Shinjuro, Ruka was like a heavenly maiden who was wise and had all the influence on the goodness in their childrens' personalities, and he also fell to shameful lows before a spiritual turnaround in his own character.

Sure, Ruka may have appreciated the beauty that came out through the self-discipline of the Tennyo's dance enough to want to watch it multiple times, but in the long, long run, I think the story would have had a deeper impact on Shinjuro.

Hello, I know a lot of people have been waiting for this analysis. Thank you for being interested in my opinion and I didn’t plan for my absence to be so long. I still plan to do it but right now I am still working on transcribing it. I only know English and American Sign Language so I’m having to use a translator on the web and then transcribe. This takes quite a while even for those of us who type fast.

I changed shifts at my job this past April which has been better for my health but it’s given me a lot less free time unfortunately. The time I usually spend on writing, analysis etc has had to go to day to day tasks, and I’m still working on finding a balance.

Once I get this part transcribed though, it won’t take long to analyze. It’s just the transcribing that is taking forever

Been busy and haven't listened to a drama CD in years... I felt like having a little pick me up and was surprised to see Diabolik lovers was still releasing new content, and very recently too with these Daylight CDs. I decided to listen to ruki's CD since he was always my favorite of the group and I finally watched demon slayer a couple weeks ago and was really happy to hear sakurai in it (after not watching any series that included sakurai for so long).

And ooomg.... I, being trash, have only ever listened to Diabolik lovers for some fun smut and thought this would be no different...but I ended in tears!!? What?! Was dialovers always this heart-wrenching?? I pretty much forgot he's supposed to be a vampire because he was so amazing and moving, I felt like I was in a sad K-drama instead T_T..

If You Feel Vibrations

Why can’t life be normal? Just three months ago, I was captain of my basketball team. I had a great girlfriend, a cheerleader. I was doing alright in my classes. Dad was proud, and Mom joked around. I had my treehouse, I had my car… and then I had to fuck it all up because some psychopath decided to follow me home after some practice, and I had to shove a windshield wiper through his heart. A windshield wiper. And not even mine. Someone else’s that I had to pay for.

And then, the move. I guess it was inevitable. But who moves to Albuquerque, New Mexico? Gypsies and thieves, Dad would say. Except I wouldn’t know. Since he chose his career overstaying with the family. And what would happen on my first week at a new school? well, according to my principal, my reputation precedes me. Great. Excellent, even. Just my intention. And what would happen next? Oh, meeting the drama teacher. What’s that, not just a drama teacher? I have a Watcher. A Watcher?

Oh, and I’m a Slayer? That’s why my subconscious told me to stab that guy with a wiper? At least the guy turned to ash. Except then I didn’t have a reason for holding the broken wiper in the lot. Guess who’s going to anger management? Troy Bolton, apparent Slayer, that’s who. Any good news? Well, I made two friends… and suddenly being a Slayer isn’t the strangest thing in life. Zeke seems alright. Used to play basketball. Gave that up for baking and making magic with his girlfriend.

Oh, and that’s not a euphemism. No, Zeke’s a warlock. And his girlfriend Kelsi is a witch. Those are real. Magic is real. And then there’s Ryan. He doesn’t try to act straight, and he owns the halls like nobody’s business. I met his boyfriend yesterday afternoon. I survived a week of school and killed three more vampires. Why is this my life? Well, Ryan shows up with this cool-looking dude with dreadlocks and a leather trench coat. Not a jacket. A fucking trench coat. Who wears that? CD, apparently.

So, there we were: me, Zeke, Kelsi, Ryan, and CD just hanging out on Ryan’s front porch because his parents don’t care what he does. He was trying to explain his situation when CD comes out and tells me that Ryan’s moved in with him at his crypt. I start nodding but I catch onto that last word.

“Did you say crypt?”

“No, he said ‘crib’.” Ryan says quickly.

“Aw, I’m hurt. You didn’t tell your new friend about me?”

CD’s voice is almost mocking but still fond. I was almost smiling again, forgetting the strange wording when we were attacked. And everyone sprung to action except CD. He just sat there and started smoking a cigarette that he pulled out of nowhere. Only, one of the demons grabbed Ryan, and suddenly CD was in his face. And he went into a rage. Holy shit, CD is a vampire. But he just destroyed the demons in one go, so, I guess not all demons are bad. Fuck if I know what to do.
