had a sudden and strange desire to draw my old mainline dragon age gals. look at how cute they are :D
here's Della Amell from DA:O, Deirdre Hawke from DAII, and Branwen Lavellan from DA:I. technically speaking, i also had another PC for the Awakening campaign ('cause Della bites it at the end of Origins), but i've only played Awakening once, back on release, and i barely remember anything about it or it's protag. still, might end up designing her just for the hell of it
feeling on a roll, probably gonna do some of my other PCs from different games

The Witch Hour is your favorite AR book, but how do you feel about Lasher and Taltos, specially in comparison to your TVC favorites? Are they on the same level or nah? Just so I know what to expect when I finally get there. 😅
I'll try being vague so as to not spoil too much @adamnablelittledevil
Yup, The Witching Hour is my fave book Anne Rice ever wrote. I think her ghost stories, plot-wise, are far superior overall to her vampire stories (that often lack an actual plot, even when they're still well-written & fun to read). Not just the Mayfairs, but also Servant of the Bones (which has IMO her very coolest ghost). Which is part of why I love Blackwood Farm so much--it's a really good/unique ghost story.
IMO Lasher (the book) was just ok--it provides all the answers about who he is and where he came from and what he wants; and since the Witching Hour is this one big mystery, at least we get payoff. But compared to my TVC faves Lasher's closer to mid/meh; I rarely ever reread it. Lasher's the most interesting when he talks less and is deliberately mysterious & hedging around like any untrustworthy person would. Once he finally sits down and honestly tells his story here though, he looses that aura he had for me--now I just want him to hurry up and die already. His story's good, it's just not groundbreaking or anything IMO.
Lasher as a character/villain I think is excellent. This man is EVIL. EVIL! The nonsense he pulls for so many hundreds of years is incredible, especially considering what it is that he's even doing al this for, like...he's so incredibly selfish, and he's a LIARRRRRR. He gives me chills. And what he ends up doing to Rowan and the other Mayfair women is...heinous. Utterly horrible. He's the worst; I was so happy when he was finally killed.
Which is why Mayfair Witches (the tv show) is an utter waste of time IMO--they blow ALL of the book's potential, by not even presenting Lasher as an interesting & compelling enough entity who I could understand seeing so many generations of people going crazy over (literally crazy!). AMC totally diluted the reality of the threat Lasher posed not just to the witches, but also to the people attached to them. He's totally de-fanged to just be this sex pest haunting Deirdre & Rowan, rather than walking us through his looooooong history of haunting & DESTROYING every witch, and the impact of the psychological & emotional toil everyone goes through--which the show just LACKS. So underwhelming.
I really like Taltos (the book). Anne Rice loves indulging in these long worldbuilding descriptions of primeval lands & bygone eras; a la Tolkein, and I like the way she does it here better than in Realms of Atlantis--I just found the Taltos' story way more tragic than Amel's in Atlantis. I'm a HUGE sucker for mythology & cosmogony, so I love how AR gave her own spin to the Picts/faeries/giants/dwarves; and this Celtic-inspired version of the Taltos' history--why they're gone, and why the Mayfairs are linked to them, why the Talamasca are so interested in them; and why Lasher was such an anomaly. It becomes this whole suspense-thriller--only to deliver this wild plot twist where you're like WOW, all of this for nothing???? Or is it?????????? I was invested in the story, and really enjoyed my time with the Mayfairs; although they're all effed up people, lol.
Compared to my TVC faves, Taltos is right up there in my Top 3 AR books, with Witching Hour and TVA. Cuz it gave me everything I was hoping Lasher would be, as a continuation of my fave book AR ever wrote. But it didn't rewire my brain the way WH & TVA did, so it's only #3.

Got another one for you: 3 for each of your characters.
Oh man! :D Thanks… and also, omg. This is a lot. I’ll only do it for DA OCs to narrow it down even a little bit, asdfgh. This was actually a really good exercise and I’m totally going to start answering this question for every single OC I create! :D Thank you, Idle.
Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
Amalia Trevelyan: A sophisticated and “neutral” accent born of years and years of education - she’s been in the Circle since she was six years old. You can barely tell she’s from the Free Marches; Amalia has the Thedas equivalent of a “radio voice”. She’s quite academic, and especially when she’s angry or otherwise on edge she’ll slip into using formal sentence structures and big words.
Renata Trevelyan: In a word - noble. And quite clearly from the Free Marches. Renata has been through a rigorous regimen of private tutoring, including but not limited to speechcraft lessons. It shows in her accent, even if her word choices are, at times, not the most eloquent when she’s speaking for herself. She’s able to summon her teachings up on demand, however, and can present herself very well when given some time to prepare.
Eloise Trevelyan: Yeah, Eloise isn’t a book girl. Despite being a nobleman’s daughter, she spent the vast majority of her youth training with her father’s men, going out on hunts and doing all manner of “unladylike” activities instead of being a good girl and attending her lessons. She barely scraped by in her tutoring. As a result, she’s picked up a lot of influences from the commoners in her father’s employ, and you wouldn’t know she’s the golden child of House Trevelyan when you hear her speak.
Cecil Trevelyan: After his older brother died, Cecil felt that he needed to step up to the plate and become the best Bann a Bann could be. Thus, he paid attention to his private tutoring and even asked for some extra lessons in public speaking and the like. So, again, he’s had a lot of coaching, and it shows in his accent. Very neutral and correct Marcher accent.
Bastian Trevelyan: Bastian’s family hid his magic so he didn’t have to go to the Circle, and, as a result, he’s been tutored much like a non-mage Trevelyan child would be. So, again, we have a neutral and correct Marcher accent.
Deirdre Lavellan: She sounds Fereldan, and speaks common as if she’d spent her entire life in Denerim. After she was abandoned by her clan as a teen, she was forced to live the life of a city elf. As a result, only her vallaslin marks her as Dalish-born anymore.
Drysi Lavellan: Her common is a bit broken, as she’s spent the entirety of her life speaking Elven and has had limited contact with humans. She’s pretty easy to pick out as Dalish based on just her speech patterns alone.
Moira Amell: If you actually get her comfortable enough so that she dares to speak to you, you’ll find Moira’s accent is very clearly born of the Circle at Kinloch Hold. In general, she’s got quite a neutral Fereldan accent. She’s spent a lot more time reading instead of speaking, though, so her vocabulary is very large but sometimes she’ll mispronounce words because she’s never heard them spoken out loud. She gets incredibly embarrassed when this is pointed out to her.
Ariadne Cousland: Highborn Fereldan accent. You can immediately pick her out as the youngest daughter of a teyrn, pretty much. It’s further amplified by Ariadne’s own insistence on speaking “regally”, as she thinks of it.
Uncommon OC development questions to help me think about my OCs in a new light! Let’s go! Make my day!

Hello knower of all things Roswell! Do you have an episode synopsis or a link for tonight? Thanks, as usual, for everything you do for us 💕💕💕
As it just so happens, I do! 💚👽
Jason Behr Guest Stars In “Good Mother”
Original Roswell star Jason Behr is a guest star in the Roswell New Mexico episode “Good Mother” which airs Monday, March 30 on The CW.
Synopsis: JASON BEHR (“ROSWELL”) GUEST STARS — Determined to regain control of her life in the aftermath of Noah’s death, Isobel (Lily Cowles) makes a risky choice despite its potential consequences.
Meanwhile, Alex (Tyler Blackburn) and Michael (Michael Vlamis) work together to unravel the mystery surrounding the night Nora’s (guest star Kayla Ewell) spaceship crashed in 1947.
Elsewhere, Liz (Jeanine Mason) makes a surprising confession when Cameron (guest star Riley Voelkel) shows up looking for answers about Max (Nathan Dean).
Heather Hemmens, Amber Midthunder and Trevor St. John also star. Jeffrey Hunt directed the episode written by Deirdre Mangan & Carina Adly MacKenzie (#203.) Original airdate 3/30/2020. [x]
The episode seems to be very important to Carina, she’s said so in various interviews (and in one of her Q&As), and going by the Lily interview I posted earlier, it looks like it’s going to be a very important episode for Isobel.
We’ll also meet Louise (Cassandra Amell), rumored to be the mother of Isobel and Max, in the 1947 timeline. And according to the 2x03 trailer, Maria will also learn that Rosa’s back.
I don’t think the episode’s longer than usual, so it’ll be interesting to see (for those watching) how they’ll fit all of this into 42 minutes 👀

🍵 and 🎨 for each of your OC. ^^
🍵 Are there any rumours about your OC hanging around? Nasty ones or just good-humoured? Got any gossip to share about them?
There are quite a few rumours flying around Heleus Cluster concerning mostly the company Sybil Ryder keeps while the Tempest docs in the Kadara Port. People are whispering about her relationship with the certain smuggler, his shady associations as well as how much influence he has over the young human pathfinder. Not all rumours about her are like this, however. Around the Nexus you can hear the stories about her roasting members of the Nexus’ leadership.
When it comes to Scorpius Ryder, for quite a while not much was known to the wider population of Andromeda about him, except for the fact he’s kept in the Hyperion’s medical bay. Later, when he was finally awake from his coma, people began to talk about how there are crates of tech delivered to his private room in the hospital wing and what the pathfinder and her twin might be up to, When the Initiative’s personnel has finally been allowed to set an embassy on Aya, the rumours started spreading around the angara about there supposedly being not one Ryder, but TWO of them.
There are many, and I mean MANY rumours flying around the famous or infamous Commander Shepard, especially that so many of the missions she was a part of both as an N7 operative as well as the first human Spectre, are surrounded with layers, upon layers of red tape. Some rumours are good, some are bad, and others, like the ones concerning what exactly took place on Torfan, are just disturbing. Very popular one suggests that Andromeda faked her death, though the reasons for it are unclear, ranging from infiltrating Cerberus to being a part of some sort of dodgy Council businesses. Meanwhile, some people believe it was the Council itself who planned the attack on the Normandy to get rid of the human Spectre and her ship. Then ofc, once it becomes clear that somehow, she was back, there are all sorts of rumours about the ragtag group making up her new crew and their association with Cerberus. Then, for a while, there were rumours spreading around the Citadel about Commander being seen in various parts of the station in the company of her turian crewmember.
There are quite a few rumours travelling around Thedas about the dalish elf, who became the Herald of Andraste and later took over as the Inquisitor. Most of them, however, are surprisingly positive. Smallfolk are often talking about Lady Lavellan being unusually kind, spending much time in places like the refugee camps and infirmaries. There’s one story about how she supposedly gave away a pair of her own boots to a girl who was close to getting frostbite during one of the long, cold fereldan nights, her family spent in Hinterlands’ refugee camp. Ofc there are some nobles gossiping bout her relationship with a reclusive elven scholar from her inner circle as well that together they are trying to push some sort of elf agenda but those are a minority. Later on, some whispers can be heard here and there about Deirdre’s strange connection to dragons, of how supposedly she was able to call one during the last stand in the Temple of Sacred Ashes but barely anyone believes it.
There aren’t many rumours about Falon Lavellan. One would be that supposedly the Inquisitor has a sibling somewhere, but he’s never mentioned anywhere in it. The other, spreading out between his clanmates concerns the reason why, at the age of 33, Falon still hasn’t invited a woman to his aravel and started a family. As clan Thelen isn’t upholding the traditions related to the Emerald Knights, the big wolf following him everywhere is also met with some suspicion.
Nobles living in High Town can’t stop talking about Keres ever since she and her mother moved into the old Amell’s residence. The rumours are wild, talking about how it’s not possible that her mother is actually who she claims to be. There’s also a matter of a rather suspicious company coming and going to the manor and how the strange, tall young woman is actually a mage.
Most rumours about Renan Mahariel concern either her influence over what happened during the Landsmeet and the coronation of king Alistair that followed it. Other is related to her relationship with the assassin from the guild of the Antivan Crows and how they have been working as mercenaries in Antiva for a while. Later on there are many rumours about people who saw the Warden and her companion in the western parts of Thedas, while some other rumours suggest that she’s sucumbed to the taint.
🎨 Is your OC artistic? Can they draw or paint or do they prefer another medium? Are they a writer or musician or do they do something else? Give us a quick rundown of what they can get creative with!
Sybil isn’t artistic or any sort of creative kind of gal. She’s always been more into sports and other physical activities. I guess that the only exception for the rule fitting under this question, could be when, back in the primary school she used to be a part of a drama club. One thing she’s got left from this experience is a secret soft spot for theatre, mostly watching plays though.
While his sister joined the drama club, Scorpius, began learning to play the piano. After two or so years, however, he’s exchanged it for violin, which he plays still. He doesn’t write music, never have been, but he can transcribe melodies to notes. Scorp is most creative in the field of computer science. He’s writing programs, scripts and constantly coming up with new upgrades for his beloved drone.
Andromeda is probably the most talented of all my OCs. In fact, her mother wanted her to go to an art school to study art history and further develop her painting and drawing skills. Andy, however, chose the Alliance instead. It’s not a very well known fact, but during long, sleepless nights, Commander often takes out her sketchbook and draws everything from the environments of the recently visited planets, faces of her crewmates to the snippets of her twisted dreams. While working on the Lazarus Project Miranda (ofc) got wind of this, and allowed herself to leave a leatherbound sketchbook with a bunch of pencils in the Commander’s private quarters right before Andromeda took command over the new Normandy. After the Reaper War was finally over, Andromeda went back to painting and for quite a while she was trying to get rid of the atrocities of the war stuck in her system by creating paintings similar to some of the surrealist works of Zdzislaw Beksinski [1] [2] [3].
As a lore keeper and earlier, a disciple of Sylaise, Deirdre was taught at least the basics of various arts and crafts practised by the dalish elves. She’s no master of any of them, though. For instance, she’s decent at singing but she’s especially worthless at embroidery. However, at some point during her travels between clans living in Free Marches, Antiva and Rivain, Derry began writing some notes, which developed into full-on journaling during the time of the Inquisition. Her journals are made of notes, dried flowers, picked up in the places they visited as well as for doodles of some things of interest.
In his spare time between hunts and learning young hunters the ways of Vir Tanadhal, Falon can be found sitting by the fire with his wolf companion lying at his feet, either carving little figurines out of wood, bones or antlers. Over the years he’s become quite skilled especially at carving out animals and many of clan Thelhen‘s kids are playing with the figurines made by him. Sometimes he’s also making necklaces and bracelets either using craved out pendants or animal teeth.
Keres has never been especially creative, except for finding out new ways to get into trouble. However, when got bach from the Deep Roads with buckets full of treasure, she discovered a taste for fashion and finery and she began bothering seamstresses around Kirkwall with her ideas for new garments. None of her ideas has ever been in line with the current fashion trends coming to Kirkwall from Orlais and other places, but Keres never cared much about it and continued to order new doublets for her, and later on for Fenris as well.
Before she became THE Warden, Renan used to be an apprentice to the clan’s Sabrae Mastercraftsman. As such, she’s learned the art of carving out wood and working with metals as well as decorating weapons and armours with traditional ornaments. She’s never mastered the art, but when she went into Vigil’s Keep forge, she‘s made a lot of weapons decorated with intricate hilts and handles and when she was about to leave, to join Zevran in Antiva, she made a pair of beautiful, decorated daggers especially for him.
Ask me maybe?

30 days Inquisitor meme
14 Days: Tell us about The Warden. Race, class, love interest, name, gender? How would your Inquisitor feel about them? Do you think they would get along?
My Warden is a female human mage who romanced Alistair. Her name is Deirdre Amell.
I think she'd get along pretty well with my Inquisitor. Not at first perhaps, because I don't think my Warden has seen many Qunari up close in her life, but yeah I think they'd get along pretty quickly. My Inquisitor would have a lot of respect for my Warden, since y'know, she accomplished the impossible equipped with only ugly hats and a merry band of misfits. My Inquisitor may also look up to her a bit, since she's basically in the same position the Warden was 10 years ago.
