here's Della Amell from DA:O, Deirdre Hawke from DAII, and Branwen Lavellan from DA:I. technically speaking, i also had another PC for the Awakening campaign ('cause Della bites it at the end of Origins), but i've only played Awakening once, back on release, and i barely remember anything about it or it's protag. still, might end up designing her just for the hell of it

They’re CUTE

Statues commemorating Mahariel never show her as an elf/person. They are always symbolic, depicting a gryphon instead. Alistair wanted to put one showing her with her bow, ready to strike the archdemon between its eyes, but she protested. Strongly. She wasn't a hero, she was hardly a good Warden nor she's ever wished to be. The matter was never brought up again.

Hawke's statue gets erected in High Town after Varric comes back from his time in Skyhold. He goes above and beyond to see his friend depicted in her full glory - in a bold pose with her trusty staff in hand. Violet crystal at the top of the staff shines in the sun as her favourite electric magic did.

Shortly after Cassandra gets appointed as the Divine she orders for a white marble statue - as this was the colour she wore to battle for the longest time - of the Inquisitor to be put near the Grand Cathedral. It shows her with staff in her right hand and her left hand outstretched towards the sky as if she was about to close a rift. Colourful ribbons are flying from her hair as a nod to Lavellans' tradition of adorning statues of their gods as such. It always makes Deirdre uneasy. She often wonders how long it will take for the ears to be chiselled off this statue to make her look more human.

Your Inquisitor/Champion/Warden gets a statue to commemorate them… What form does it take, and why?

four word prompts: “You always this quiet?”

This is me expanding my repertoire. I have written Alistair x Warden for the first time a mere few days ago... so let’s go with Solavellan for the first time now. I’m sorry, I took your prompt and turned it into exceedingly melodramatic angst. I do that sometimes. Thanks so much for this, though - I really needed a bit of an exercise in melodrama to fend off my cold and my sniffles!

Prompt: You always this quiet?

Happiness is like one of the soap bubbles that Deirdre remembers blowing with her friends when they were children. It fills your heart, lifts you up, carries you off in a whirlwind of emotion and leaves you spinning. Much like a bubble, happiness is fragile - burst so easily by the slightest of things. A sudden branch in its path. An inquisitive child’s finger. A breath of wind carrying a soft whisper of words, familiar words spoken once before. And when faced with adversity, happiness, too, sometimes bursts. A vacuum - that’s what’s left behind when a bubble is destroyed. Everything it was holding at bay is suddenly rushing forward.

And this is where happiness differs from a bubble. In the aftermath of a bubble, all that rises up to replace it is air. Harmless, innocuous air. But happiness... happiness keeps out so much more. Sorrow. Anger. Loss. Loneliness. And, in Deirdre’s case, memories.

Happiness is the barrier between everything worth having in this world... and everything else. 

When he had left, he had taken her happiness with him. All that had been before had come rushing back, so eager to fill the void she now found inside of her. She was alone. Again. She had nothing. Again. She had no one. Again. 

She should have been used to it by now, Deirdre supposed. It wasn’t the first time she had been left by those she had trusted. It was a familiar situation, and one she knew how to deal with. The familiarity of falling into a familiar pattern was comforting. This time would be different, however. This time, she would make sure no one lured her out of her pattern.

And that was why Dorian’s question was such a stupid one. Why, instead of responding, Deirdre glared at him from under her brows and said nothing.

“Are you always this quiet?” he had asked.

He didn’t know. Silence was all she had left.

Felt incredibly uninspired today so instead of following the prompt for inktober I went with whatever I was feeling which was my Inquisitor Deirdre Lavellan. I’ve been wanting to draw/post Deirdre for some time but I could never really get what I was imagining down. I don’t really even think this is a great interpretation of her but it was what I ended up doing for day 4 so here ya go!
