#im realizing one thing that irks me is when there’s way too much internal monologuing going on #if a character is suspicious. Or if someone is acting out of character then SHOW US !#for chrissake #if the writing is good we shouldn’t Need them to tell us if a character is acting strange #we should be able to tell. and if it’s obvious and then they state it anyways Then it feels pateonizing #kabru’s tragic backstory couldve been compelling but instead he was yammering over it the entire time #his backstory flashback i mean #establishing shit that we could have picked up on our own. and then RESTATING IT in the SAME SCENE…..#it’s an issue of turning a manga into an anime though ig #exposition is more necessary when there isn’t as much visual aid to help people understand whats going on #But then they make an anime where there is more room for that. and then keep the same amount of exposition #or fill a whole episode w characters sitting around a fire and talking about the protagonists #my rambles #definitely just my personal preference #i just get So bored when a piece of media tries to do the thinking for the audience #please Please don’t give in dont give in Whatever you do #TRUST PEOPLE TO PICK UP ON WHAT YOU’RE PUTTING DOWN #imagine if breaking bad had walter white narrating the entire thing. it would fucking suck #i think that’s part of why most animes just dont do it for me. it’s a very common trait #it’s really good in comedies though like nichijou

i think concepts like demiromantic are actually useful in a descriptive context, but the years of discourse that treated these terms as COMPLETELY equivalent to gay/lesbian/bisexual/trans identity totally poisoned me against them. like to some degree all such labels are descriptive and culturally relative and incomplete but i think you actually can be “born that way” in a sense when it comes to homosexuality/trans identity, or at least, these identities TEND to settle and remain consistent from an early-ish stage of development. and people can have different sex drive levels that stay relatively consistent throughout their adulthood. whereas i don’t think anyone is “born” with a romantic orientation/mode of being intimate that can be organized into a periodic table of sorts

anyway i have realized over the past several years that in terms of the (western) cultural consensus re: the terminology i am in fact demisexual and demiromantic, in a similar sense as i tend to be drawn to arpeggios, trees, salty foods, and brightly colored objects (which are surely culturally informed tastes that nevertheless i experience as immutable and unchanging), but i also feel very strongly that this is not my “orientation.” my orientation is bisexual

#d #like. i have certain aesthetic preferences in music and art that feel pretty consistent and immutable to me #and i view my modes of intimacy in a very similar way. they are unlikely to change yes. but they are not *fundamental*#like to be clear none of these identities are 100% independent from culture/nurture/whatever #but i think it’s pretty clear that homosexuality is a less nebulous concept than whatever ‘alloromantic’ is #the definition of romance isn’t even something that has stayed consistent across human history #reblogs are off bc i dont want people wilding out on this post #i’m just reflecting and making some observations not trying to police how you personally identify

tbh an important part of my take on the 'don't be like Sentinel' question is that hours earlier D16 had very decidedly assumed leadership of the High Guard, after which any attempt at resolving his very understandable personal trauma via murder was also, on a wider affects-everyone/your-new-power-means-something scale, inherently going to count as a military coup.

yknow. the thing Sentinel did to assume power/hand it over to the quintessons in the first place

#like you don't get to Be A Leader/wield power and also gratify your personal wishes/needs first and foremost #I feel like is an important part of the movie's whole ethos #sure Sentinel managed it for a bit but the point is it was unsustainable and he lost it again #tf one #transformers one #Megatron #d 16 #Sentinel Prime #and tbf Orion's choice to ally with the high guard was also always gonna cause problems but in terms of like. people's general safety #it was also undoubtedly the preferable option compared to 'lets allow them to take point/call the shots'#cause the thing is honestly genuinely #if D16 had either turned his back on the high guard OR enlisted and then disobeyed orders to go after sentinel #then Orion would've been on waaaay shakier ground if he objected #cause in the kind of society they were living in vigilante justice/isolated terrorism/whatever you want to call it #would be no great sin against the ruling powers. like the 'left with no other option' argument definitely would have stood #but like. ORION is the one who's actually engaging in that shit. because he's not decided 'im the commander of an army now'#he's the commander of like. a terrorist cell made of miners. they're not a military organisation with training or much of a power structure #and meanwhile D16 is like 'this is my army now' which. okay cool but that means you are Not anything approaching a vigilante anymore #you get that right #stop operating on the assumption that that's what you are #you REPRESENT an established power structure now you're not just fighting one

Or maybe that’s just the aromanticism #(only briefly discussed but clearly aro - probably aroace? but (lack of) romance is what is explicitly discussed)#I’m definitely hoping for more of the sister relationship next book #I did find it odd that some characters were in first person POV and some were in third. I generally prefer consistency in that #Did the sapphic relationship come out of nowhere a bit? yeah.#but also it doesn’t claim to be anything other than a sudden connnection. i'm not mad about it. uhaul etc #i do have very little patience for brooding immortal winged man love interests. the soft spot for cats does not change this.#so I found that other relationship a bit boring.

see me personally i like sefikura in a very specific way. firstly they gotta be vers. secondly the power cloud has over sephiroth in the way that obsessions often do over the obsessed has GOT to be integral to whatever dynamic is being portrayed.

Like I've said before. General Trans Scott enthusiast here- I love the idea of their little support network *violent coughing* I (we?) mean polycule *violent coughing* so fucking much.

Ramona I think has a bit of a more gentle hand with reassuring Scott with gender issues, but sometimes she just can't help herself from some pointed banter or teasing- how could you with someone so dense? (Said w affection)

And then Kim I think is more blunt. But like, in a good way mostly, you know? The kinda blunt that makes you snap to attention and go "Oh. Yeah that was silly of me." And if Ramona's started some sort of banter? Kim is SO piling on. Maybe sometimes she's a bit TOO blunt with it- but it's only because she's so firm in her support. She wants Scott to Get It Together- and be happier for it. So if some ribbing now and again is in order, then goddamnit she will do so! Anything to crack that shell.

And ohhh can you imagine how they would react to some transphobic bullshit?? Unholy terror would be driven into the offender before they walk off with an absurd amount of coins between them. I can feel it in my bones. Scott doesn't even have to lift a finger (if the transphobe is even noticed/processed at all, bc I honestly can see Scott just. Not realizing someone's being transphobic.) Kim giving someone a lashing with her tongue as distraction and then Ramona coming in with the hammer- BAM! Free Money! Paying literally with your life for your transphobia. A Better And Just World.

And of course (transfem Scott more specifically, here,) the way Scott would start to flourish under their support... cagey and maybe a little (perhaps a lot-) resistant to start- but Kim's blunt affirmations and no nonsense attitude for bullshit (which is what Scott insisting on "being cis" would be, c'mon now,) and Ramona's also low bullshit tolerance but less Stabby (bc I won't lie, that's probably how Kim's comments would feel,) assurances?
