I think it makes way more sense for sam to roll up with a whole new character (and a more exciting prospect, tbh), but considering the circles he travels in it wouldn’t be a stretch for tary to show up with adventurer checklist: take two that starts with (1) get to the moon

Prompt (395)
An ominous shadow fell over the city. The hero and villain paused their fight to look up at the looming, giant spaceship slowly blocking out the sun.
“Another alien invasion?” The villain said, annoyed.
The hero sighed, nodding. “That makes twice this month.”
The villain stomped their foot in frustration. “I just got you back! Now you’re going to be busy saving the world again!”

i really wish i had the motivation to write rn, because i have an idea for a post-canon Dracula fic where the characters have to deal with world war one. like, how do you even cope with thinking you saved all those lives, only for the entire western world to go to absolute shit just 20-ish years later? if only Bram Stoker had known what was coming.
anyway, i find it so interesting to consider what certain characters would do in that situation.
depending on when he was born, Quincey Jr could be just old enough to enlist or get drafted. or honestly, he might just want to be a hero like his parents, and lie about his age. and let's be real, that boy has some latent vampire powers that would give him an edge.
Jonathan has good survival instincts, an ear for languages, and the ability and willingness to scale sheer walls with a knife between his teeth if necessary. Mina has a really impressive memory for conversations and schedules, a love of technology, experience resisting what is essentially supernatural interrogation, and probably some vampire side effects of her own. both of them know shorthand and have plenty of experience with life or death situations. they would kick ass as spies and wireless operators.
Jack and Van Helsing would have to cease the medical malpractice to be actual army doctors. maybe learn about shell shock and call up Jonathan about that old "brain fever" diagnosis of his.
and what would Arthur even do? what did lords do during WW1? try to keep his friends out of harm's way? use his seat in government to try and end the war? grapple with the fact that lordships are falling out of favour and the world is moving on into a modern era without him?
i just find it fun to ponder.

Man, just thinking of the dynamic between Kiku and Yao, the politics of men’s haircuts from the Opium Wars onwards, and how two nations who have known each other for so long see things. When Kiku first cuts his hair short in the western style upon the dawn of the Meiji-era, it’s naturally a tad strange and unnerving. But it’s a transition he’s able to make, especially because the western world is simultaneously unfamiliar but also familiar through his longtime relationship with the Netherlands and rangaku (Dutch studies). Short hair marks him as severing his ties with the old Sinocentric order, and what feels incredibly alienating eventually symbolises power, adaptability and recognition, in the aftermath of his victory in the first Sino-Japanese war.
But of course, it is the opposite for Yao. It symbolises defeat, it is the admission of failure, that he is well and truly no longer the standard bearer of civilisational prestige. I think one moment where it really sinks in for Kiku that the old order is truly upside down isn’t just the moment he wins—but seeing Yao himself later at the peace conference, tense and weary, but now with his own hair neatly cropped short, in drab western clothes so different from the more colourful silk garb of a Qing official—as the ink dries on the Treaty of Shimonoseki. A mourner at his own funeral, a pale shadow of the forceful, proud and towering empire whose presence used to fill the room effortlessly, in whose shadow Kiku used to walk.

So obvious to me that Seska's arc in Voyager should have been her hopping from Villain-of-the-Week to Villain-of-the-Week revealing herself to have been either entirely or in part behind some new plot or scheme (sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident, though she never admits which is which, preferring to pretend all is intentional though she's just as lost in the Delta Quadrant as the rest of them) as an overarchingly evil but largely comedic presence in the show which eventually culminates in her fucking the Borg Queen as the ultimate power fantasy and cementing her role as rival to Janeway, who was too cowardly to do the same.

Zim and Dib just being those kinds of enemies who wants to tear each other's heads off but will also drop everything to keep one another in their lives is like.....PERFECT.
Like, not friends, but not enemies in a sense that they don't want anything to do with one another. That, is how I need my Zim and Dib. Two neighboring dogs that bark at each other through the fence all day, but they might share a treat at the dog park...maybe.

I'm sorry but ever since the announcement for Shadow's VA being Keanu Reeves I've been plagued by the thought that one of the first things Sonic 1 did was directly establish Keanu Reeves existence in the world as cannon and that Sonic was a super fan. So imagine being summoned by the government to fight this random ass alien and he sounds exactly like your favorite celebrity/influencer/character

if i had a nickel for every time i watched a streaming-exclusive show based on a pre-existing duology of movies that featured a storyline revolving around winning a bowling tournament, i'd have two nickels.

I watched Boys in the Boat, that new historic sports movie on Netflix, this weekend, and I gotta say the lead, Callum Turner is a new Tom fan-cast for me. He plays the taciturn kinda emotionally-expressionless young dude so well.
I don't think I've seen him in anything, but he looks nice!

Also, I feel you on casting based on role vibes. Josh Hartnett is my fan cast based less on appearance than on his roles in O and The Faculty.
