Continuing from this post. With the newest Arachne dialogue in which Mel absolutely refuses to acknowledge Hecate's evildoing, and with her nasty attitude towards Prometheus in general, a new light can be shed on some of her old lines.

1.

When Melinoe says Arachne's suffering is entirely deserved, she means it, literally.

Hecate brewing poisons for the Olympians to use at will is a totally reasonable act in Mel's eyes. Athena having the power to ruin any mortal' life is a natural part of Mel's idea of world order. Just like Zeus torturing Prometheus eternally is okay to Mel.

Prometheus protesting, however, is not okay.

2.

When Mel is low HP, Hecate does not cure Mel's injuries, and Mel responds with a masochist glee.

Her masochism ties in with her sadism towards Prometheus, Chronos and Arachne. As a third party, Moros confirms that Prometheus does not enjoy violence.

Mel, on the other hand, does.

She longs to traumatize Prometheus, an already traumatized victim of political violence, again and again. Just like she traumatizes Arachne even more by defending Hecate in front of Arachne.

Melinoe doesn't have to do that, but Melinoe does it anyway.

3.

And it all comes back to Mel's first win against Chronos, when she first shows her sadism.

Just like her conversation with Athena, Melinoe is also being literal here. Melinoe does value her mission of killing Chronos more than the actual well-being of her real family. She wants to be the Aetos to Chronos, not the Jesus to the Greek world. She brings nightmares, not salvation.

Why is it so? Because by completing the mission, she can gain praise and recognition from Hecate, who is the most important person to her in the world. More important than her real mother, more important than any sense of morality, and certainly more important than any mortal's human rights.

If Hecate decides to let her suffer her injuries, then Hecate must be right, pain is a teaching. Since pain is a teaching, then Zeus surely is right to teach Prometheus a lesson, Athena of course is right to teach Arachne and Medusa a lesson, and herself even righter to kill Chronos again and again.

Hecate raised Melinoe to be a weapon, but in her eagerness to please Hecate, Melinoe became much more than that.

Through her own choice, by consciously ignoring Arachne and Prometheus's pain, by refusing to listen to Nemesis and Moros's sensible commentary on divine injustice, she became a dedicated authoritarian. Now she is more loyal to Olympus than actual Olympian Dionysos ever could be, and more defensive of Hades's absolutist rule than Hades himself.

When she flies out into the world, she bows to the authority of the gods, and picks out everybody else's liver. She breaks the Titans' bodies, just like she breaks Arachne's heart, just like Hecate breaks her soul.

Nightmare incarnate indeed.

Tired, that's how you felt. Your mind anywhere but where you should be paying attention, on the professor who was talking in front of you explaining the important topics that would go into your next exam. In your mind, the last conversation with your girlfriend, Melissa, kept playing

-"I can't believe that this is your last exam and you'll already be an elementary school teacher, and it's so good that you're already assured of a position at Abbott when you leave here from college. We should celebrate this! What do you think about renting a cabin for the two of us for the weekend? We could have a relaxing soak in a hot tub, go to a restaurant, spend a lot of time together..."-Spending a lot of time together, that played over and over in your head. You and Melissa had been dating for a couple of months, because of her schedule and yours, you had never been together too much time like a whole weekend, a weekend dedicated just to you and her. While you were excited to spend so much time with her, it also made you nervous to think about how intimate it would be. The times you and Mel had been together before, it had been in a hurry, a quick visit to the dorm room at the university, where she didn't have time to completely undress you and only took off your pants to put her hand inside to make you cum before your roommate arrived, or a quick visits to her school, where you went to her car to do it, where there wasn't much room and she couldn't see you well.

As the weekend approached, your nerves grew bigger and bigger, the knot in your stomach hurt more, and you had more and more doubts about whether you would be able to do so.

The day arrived and Melissa excitedly picked you up on campus, helped you carry your bag to the car and let you choose the playlist while she drove. When you arrived at the cabin, it was a beautiful and very decorated place, it was a romantic and delicate house, so romantic that the only thing it did was make your nerves grow.

Melissa had made many plans to make the most of the weekend, romantic dinners, evening walks on the beach, brought movies to watch, and asked to be left with groceries at the cabin so she could cook your favorite meal for you. But your mind only traveled to the same moment, the moment when you're in bed together and she sees you completely naked. You tried to avoid it by doing it somewhere else where she couldn't completely see you. When you were in the restaurant having dinner, you proposed to go to the bathroom because you knew that they would have little room and it would have to be fast, but the redhead denied saying that she felt too full to move. When you walked along the beach you proposed it to her again, since there was little light and she couldn't see you very well, but Mel shook her head again, saying how uncomfortable it was after having to scoop out the sand that sticks to every inch of your body. With no other ideas, you sighed and didn't keep trying.

Arriving home, while Mel was putting down her coat, you went upstairs to the room planning what to do, but you were startled when you felt the redhead's hands on your waist as she kissed your shoulders

-"Don't panic, it's just me... Let me tell you, that dress looks beautiful on you and I'm so happy we were able to go out together, it feels nice to spend time with you without hurries..."-She spoke in a soft, loving voice, and you smiled

-"You look beautiful too... Thank you for everything you planned..."-You replied smiling but a sigh left your lips and the redhead looked at you worriedly

-"Are you okay hon?"-Mel asked turning to see you face to face and you nodded not very convinced, your eyes were a little watery from the fear you had and that did not go unnoticed by her, it only worried her more and she hugged you tightly-"hey hey, What's going on? You know you can trust me"

-"I know, it's just something very stupid..."-You whispered and she frowned

-"It's not a stupid thing if it makes you want to cry"-Mel kissed your forehead and you sighed hiding in her neck

-"Can I ask you something?"- You whispered against her neck and she nodded, gently massaging your back-"I know this weekend is just for us, to enjoy and have a good time, but when we do, sex I mean, can it be with the lights off?"-Your voice was just a whisper, like the voice of a frightened child, or like when you try to scream in a dream and your voice doesn't come out. And let's not start talking about how the years had left my crotch... -"Good morning beautiful, how did you sleep?"-she whispered against your hair and then kissed you

-"So good... I wish this weekend would never end, I don't want to forget everything that happened last night... I appreciate it so much..."-You whispered. Melissa walked away from you and turned on the stereo, smiling as you looked at her in confusion

-"You know, I read an article that said that when we associate a song with a moment, it makes it stick more etched in our memory, I'll put a song, so that every time you hear it or every time you doubt how beautiful you are, you remember this moment, how much I love you and how perfect you are"-She smiled before putting on the song and starting to sing it for you as she hugged you.

Summary:

Matty and y/n live together with their daughter Amelia. They had a thing for a while before finding out y/n was pregnant. The final decision was to continue the pregnancy, try co-parenting Amelia, living in the same house. At the same time, they stopped hooking up and stay as friends.

To say a big THANKS for supporting my fic throughout the year(s), I’m doing the Advent Calendar Fic thingamy again!  I did this last year and it became this collection of stories.

From 1 - 25 December 2024 I will be posting a short story (it will be short, I will control myself) as part of a new collection of works from Driftersverse, Making Mirrors, Interstellar Overdrive and Legend of Charro.

Beneath the cut I have a little information about the story to be written each day (universe, characters and date/era).  I’d like to dedicate each to a reader, so please claim one and I’ll write it for you.

I don’t think all days will fill up, but I’d like to give everyone a chance to get one they really like, so at this stage each person can claim ONE day only - I’ll open it up to more later on. You’re welcome to send me a few in order of preference in case someone has already beaten you to the punch on your favourite, and I haven’t yet updated the list.

If you would rather claim as anon, please give me a name or an emoji or something - just so I can identify you against your chosen day and so we don’t get multiple anons muddled up.

This book has so many emotions tangled up in it. The exhaustion of finishing my masters, the long journey of getting my creative energy back, the frustration that it took longer than I thought it would.

Mel is getting a lot of love this art fight so I thought I'd make a post dedicated to them!! (aka actually post her ref instead of forgetting lol)

I wrote a bio a while ago it's under the cut :3

Birthday: November 8th (Approximately in Earth months)

Age: 0.44 Pluto years (109 Earth years) (Like, 22 if you look at her if she's a human being)

Mel is a somewhat ditzy Earling, exhibiting habits that are typically out of the norm. However, she is tough and has a heart of gold. She is mainly relied upon by her friends for protection due to her physical strength, but she typically does not fight back and instead looks at the attacker with confusion. On the other hand, her friends are very protective of her as well, usually describing her as "very lovable and sweet." Additionally, she never learned to speak Earth's languages and primarily communicates through a series of purrs and chirps. However, she is able to understand and read English.

She is very inquisitive. One of her favorite activities is to look up at the starry sky and wonder what's out there. She also loves to listen to other Earlings' troubles and stories. She is also very affectionate; enjoying a nice cheek scratch every now and then.

Mel has a deep fascination with fruits and is determined to cultivate them. Ever since the Earthlings delivered their first care package, which contained a large and peculiar batch of small hard shells (seeds), they took it upon themself to learn how they work. Eventually, through many dissections and trial and error, they successfully cultivated strawberries on Pluto by using powerful lamps and altering the thickness of the seed to withstand Pluto's harsh cold. they've been fond of them ever since they saw the first strawberry sprout. Subsequently, they began planting other types of fruits available, such as watermelon. their favorite season is summer on Pluto, as it's at least a tiny bit hotter and their plants can actually grow.

Many regard Mel as some sort of hidden genius behind their ditzy demeanor, but they disregard the compliments and claim that it's just common sense.

So you mentioned you use Toonsquid, correct? Well I noticed how you kinda make more animatic style videos, like not frame-by-frame. I was wondering how you make more "animatic style videos" instead of smooth animation on an app mostly used for smooth animation. Sorry if that makes zero sense 💀 I wanna make a YouTube channel and try again on TikTok with just art, and I just needed a little help. You're a huge inspiration to me <3

but weeeell answering your question YEP i use toonsquid and about the rest mhhhm first of all i want to clarify that i am veryVERY new to this "animate" thing since i was barely able to get Toonsquid TwT

and there really are MANY techniques to make an animatic, but well, and all i know is cuz over the years i have seen thousands of artists make animatics, and now that i can try to animate i am trying to apply what i was able to se so i also recommend watching tutorials if you don't understand my explanation (i not understood well what you meant by "like not frame by frame" srry 😭 if i explained something totally different from what you were referring to,but don't worry) i'll still try to explain to you how i do it ^v^

here something that i can recommend is not to work with less fps, for example a canvas of 2-4 fps, that indicates are the drawings that you need to form a second, like if you use a canvas with 2 fps , you will only use 2 drawings to form a second, although i say this from personal experience cuz before when i """animated""" in Procreate i tried to make an animatic and it was very uncomfortable, because i thought that to make an animatic i needed less fps jaksjka

but i say this from my own experience, maybe you can do that and i'm telling you the opposite😭JAKSJKAJA

AAAAND i hink that's all i can say, and what i know, i'm sorry if you don't understand much of what i said, but explaining things is difficult for me without avoiding going too far TT-TT
